We are outside for Mother's Day.. It was a beautiful view of the lake. We got margaritas, amereto sour, and a corona... All were decently priced. There was a live band playing inside, which was nice. However, we couldn't hear them outside. The food was good, not amazing. The service was just okay. We didn't get the tortillas and rice with the fajitas until a good five minutes after we got the meat. I will come back, and I wouldn't not recommend it... Just don't expect to be blown away by anything besides the view.

1/20/15 Don't drink at this establishment. We ordered two Makers Mark and water and were surprised to see a 18.00 charge for TWO DRINKS!! Almost anywhere I go in town I can get the same for 4-5.00!!..Food was decent. Chiles Rellenos (Stuffed Peppers) had some real Mexican cheese but not Chihuahua Brand which is a much thicker cheese. The reason I complained on the cost of two drinks it was just about the same price as the dinner!!!!! Waiters not attentive, don't know menu items had to remind them to bring certain items etc.

I have had mexican food in Boston, New York, San Diego, Chicago and even in Mexico. I believe the Mexicans that work here are like 'Ugh... NO! Try again!' And bring their food from home. Salsa tasted like ketchup. Guacamole looked like baby food.. Rice, undercooked. The steak in the dish I ordered was overcooked. My order was wrong... The food was brought to me in foil as if I was being asked to leave. When I paid I wasn't even offered a receipt! 1st & last experience... I went to taco bell after I left.

Having this building switch from a Noble Romans to El Arriero is probably one of the best things to ever happen to Warsaw. My family has been visiting this restaurant consistently since it first opened. I can safely say that it's one of our favorites. My parents normally split the fajitas for two, which still leaves plenty of leftovers. I also take that opportunity to not-so-sneakily grab some chorizo from the bottom of the pan. I've had more meals here than I can even remember, all of them good, but one of my tried and tested favorites is the chicken and mushroom quesadilla. Portions are large, prices are low. It's always a challenge to resist filling up on the bottomless chips and salsa. The ambiance is not particularly great, even taking the lake view into account. The main dining room can get crowded and noisy during peak times and the decor leaves something to be desired. But the food is tasty, the service is consistently good, and it's an overall solid choice for a Mexican meal.

Was in town for business and had lunch here with a colleague. Her lunch came out and was not what she had ordered, but she was a trooper and went ahead and ate it and enjoyed it. I didn't get my lunch at the same time- I think they may have delivered it to another table. So my food had to get re-made and the rush showed. It was good, but I wonder how much better the one delivered to another table was. Chips and salsa were pretty good. Would have given 4 stars but for the service mix ups.

This is our favorite Mexican place (and one of our favorite restaurants) in Warsaw. Really good mexican food, and ridiculously good portions and prices. Service is always great. We like to split the fajita dish for two (can feed three easily, too). Lunch specials are fantastic, too.

Horrible horrible horrible service and food was mediocre for Americanized Mexican food. For me, a good food experience includes a good service. More importantly, if you want authentic Mexican food this is not the place for you!

I visited El Arriero on a day when I had a bit of a break from the rigors of traveling across Northern Indiana by wheelchair and could actually relax and enjoy a meal with friends. While I will admit that I was just a touch nervous about eating Mexican prior to wheeling a few miles in Warsaw's hiking/biking trails, the simple truth is that it sounded good and it was a local joint that with a beautiful location right on a lake. Unfortunately, we weren't seated anywhere near a view of a the lake (and I'm not sure it's even offered in this establishment). Instead, I had the rather odd experience of having the three of us designated to a booth. This meant that I was either getting out of the wheelchair or sitting at the end of the table. While I'll confess that I rather like the lack of a stereotype that I can't handle a booth, it was a bit odd especially given that we were at the end of a row and I was back-to-back with a young child in a high chair/booster seat type situation. In other words, it was kind of crowded. Here's the other thing. I don't remember what I ordered, an odd fact considering I fully intended to review it and very seldom forget this kind of thing since I'm a film critic in real life and pretty darn good at remembering obscure details. I know that it was some form of chicken and rice mixture as this tends to be my "go to" meal when I eat at a Mexican restaurant. (NOTE: In doing some research, I realized it was the Pollo Poblano). Was it good? Well, it obviously wasn't memorable. I don't recall it being completely awful either, but as I recall it was rather average for a Mexican restaurant and I also recall thinking "not authentic, but not bad." It's always interesting reading reviews for ethnic cuisine, because you tend to get vigorous claims for both "authentic" and "not authentic." As spoiled American diners, I think for the most part we're guessing when it comes to discerning a meal's authenticity but it sure makes for some entertaining reading. I was with a friend who is from Central America and she, more than anyone, found the meal to be disappointing. I think that says quite a bit. While I wasn't paying for the meal, in observing the prices I would also consider it to be just a tad overpriced. The service at El Arriero was for the most part functional if not particularly dazzling. However, given its beautiful locale I will expect that it's a bit more disappointing to have average service in an above average setting. Overall, I really wrestled with a 2-3 star range for El Arriero, but I'm bumping it up to the 3-star mostly upon the strength of its beautiful setting and the fact that I'm more inclined to consider the meal and service average rather than below average. By no means a destination restaurant, I have to acknowledge that I'd be

I don't care about the dated interior or that it's not 5 star standard. I come for the choriqueso dip and enchiladas. Fajitas and the burrito gigante are also fan favorites. I know it's not "authentic" as you might say but this place is DELICIOUS! For a small Midwestern town, this place is pretty tasty. Best in the world? No. Best in the area? You bet!! Staff is great. Always friendly and doing their best even when it is insanely busy. Good for groups, and reasonable prices. Busiest on weekend evenings and on Sundays after church. Try a Monday night for the margarita special and no chance of a wait. Lastly--get the choriqueso and a frozen marg. Trust me.

My fiance and I came here with another couple for dinner on a Monday night. We were promptly seated and the restaurant really started to fill up quickly (always a good sign). The salsa was a bit on the runny side in my opinion but it had good flavor. We also had the queso dip and it had a little heat to it which made it good. It too was on the runny side. I ordered one of the dinners that came with a chicken enchilada and chicken burrito. It was ok. My fiance had the Pollo Poblano and he loved it! They had friendly and quick service. One thing I did find a bit disturbing was how warm the restrooms were. I was burning the minute I entered it. If we are in Warsaw again, we will keep this place in mind.

Average food and some of the worse service I have ever had. Decor is dated.....no big deal. Had enchilada verde which was alright. Also carne asada so so.

This place is underrated. Think about it, you are served deliciously seasoned, authentic Mexican food. You sit in view of a beautiful lake. You are waited on by friendly staff. Your food comes out in no time, and the bill will make you wonder how the business stays afloat with such low prices! For a simple Mexican restaurant, this is it!!!!

The price is great, you get a ton of food for what you might spend at McDonalds and all of it is delicious. I'm not usually a fan of more authentic Mexican food, but I love it at El Arriero.

I loved everything except it could really use a interior update. I would just say that it needs to be updated. The service was great and very quick. Also they brought out the chips & salsa within minutes of being there. The fajita was FANTASTIC; i loved it! I want to go back and they gave lots of food from veggies to meat. I really liked everything about it and the food was great. The salsa was sweet. The fajita was perfect and it was steak & chicken. I didn't like how I had to get up and pay for my meal.It was awkward standing there waiting for them it's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars.

I've been coming here at least once per trip whenever I visit my parents in Warsaw for at least a decade. I was genuinely surprised to find such good, authentic mexican food and popular tex mex items in such a small city. The service is always excellent. Everyone is very friendly. Over many years time both of those things have been consistent. They sit on one of the best sites for a restaurant in Warsaw. The panoramic view of Center Lake is gorgeous and very relaxing. All of this and the food is reasonably priced.

I've been going here ever since they opened. I almost always get their tostaguac. Good salsa and chips too.

OK Mexican food. A tad overpriced. Nothing about it is as good as Acapulco downtown. They do sometimes get mariachi bands in, though. They post it on their sign when they have the bands in.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
