If I had a way for no stars I would sadly. I guess if you are not a regular of theirs in Portage they treat their new customers like crap as I will assume. (Sorry on choice of words, but seriously how this company in Portage makes one feel and I will explain it all in this review as well. Definitely unlike the other Verona's in NW Indiana. Maybe just a management issue or something. Tonight at about 4:52pm an order was placed for our residence. Originally wanting a giant size taco pizza, but a disappointment because they use sausage for the taco meat (you would think they would use ground beef or another meat). when told they use sausage we decided to change the order. We went with their veggie pizza, which Verona's swears by having fresh ingredients. But sadly not all ingredients are fresh. So the pizza delivery guy comes and first thing I hear unlike other pizza places is, "Please don't punch me, but I got bad news, I forgot your other order, but I called in to have someone bring it after this delivery". I never in my life of ordering pizza had this happen, and mistakes do happen, but real bad choice of words from a delivery person. Do not get me wrong, one can take it humorous or what not, but at the current point I was not have a humorous time. Now for the interesting part of my review. We open the box to find that the mushrooms on the pizza are bit slimy and can tell 100% they are canned mushrooms not your typical fresh mushrooms that majority of pizza places use these days. Not top include the tomatoes were semi fresh. The tomatoes had that taste that they were refrigerated, so not a great taste, and to mention the dough was undercooked. So at this point I am slowly not feeling well, either the stress with the manager or the pizza not being cooked right and not to mention jaw hurts from trying to chew on the pizza itself. The crust was way too thick for a regular order. usually that type of pizza uses thin crus not thick crust. (someone needs more training on how to make a pizza) so I phone in to ask for the manager, I wont get started on how they answer the phones. so i ask for the manager, I get ryan, who I has to ask for his name not the other way around. Things is I don't care if you get nice customers or disappointed customers, if you are the manager act like it when you speak to a customer. I am sorry if you are having a bad day, but we all go through it at some point in our lives, just deal with it. So Ryan answers the phone, and I go about explaining the issue, of non fresh ingredients, how the pizza was under cooked and how I want a refund, as I wont eat the rest the pizza. He replies with a hold on, puts me on hold i guess to talk to the kitchem to find out, yup the mushrooms are canned, the tomatoes he claims are fresh, but did say they refrigerate them before cutting them. Refrigerating tomatoes at some point ruines the taste of them. One is to keep them out at propper room temperature before use, so you keep falvor. The best part is his inspector as he used for words said the pizza was cooked, of course you will go with your worker and what they say you can not see my pizza. the the #1 reaosn for no refund is, "we can not give you a refun if you are nto happy with your pizza" That is what ryan stated. so I guss the only way for a refund is if people get sick from food poisoning then. We will not being eating from this location ever again. Not sure how in the world Verona's allowed this place to open in Portage. here is the tip of the iceburg, on their website they quote one price then over charge you as the receipt shows. I do not erecommend this place to anyone, maybe the other locations, but not portage. You may as well take your money and order form another location for pizza. J & J's Pizza shack or I heard Bam's i pretty good, should have done Bam for a first time, now we know better than to go with verona's again. To all those who love their pizza, like stated, not sure how long you been going there, but being my first time and having a bad time, that is real crappy to get the service we got tonight. Good luck to everyone else who decides to try them.

Wow. I have to review now because I just rifled through a medium, thin Verona Special. Delicious. What a great pizza. Solid. Great crispy crust, extra thin. Good amounts of cheese. Good tasting and browning cheese. The sausage was a little spicy, in a good way. I would be very surprised if it was brought in. More cheese than Gelsosomo's but not as much as Tony's. Best crust of the three. Sausage equal to Tony's but different. Most subdued sauce of the three, but it worked well. Overall a great package, a high quality and tasty pizza. On the other hand, the deep dish pizza was just bad. Too much dough and chewy at that. A perfect example of what non-Chicago people think is deep dish. Big chunks of hard to chew crust at the edges. The sauce was more prominent and it couldn't carry the pie. Not a good showing. Also, the phone ordering process is a bit chaotic and I got the last, thin crust pizza in about 1:40 instead of the promised 1 hour. Still, I'm not going to bitch about the delivery time of an awesome meal; within reason. The website sucks and I still haven't figured out why my total is 18 and change, more than five dollars more than the menu price. For awesome, thin crust, Chicago style pizza, four stars. I can forgive a lot if you give me that.

Pizza was delivered and not in a heat blanket. Chicago Style Pizza is O..K.. Ingredients and sauce are of mediocre quality. Pizza smelled like a wash rag. Ham used on the Meat Lovers appeared to be diced ham loaf, way to big of pieces. Crust stood up well but lacked flavor.

Get the Chicago style deep dish. Sauce on top. It's Chicago worthy. Sandwiches are pretty good too. Only complaint is that I wish they had a nice sit down location. But food is excellent.

Love this pizza ! We usually get regular crust and order it well done. We usually just get a sausage (family agreeable) . We've had it often and have always liked it . They do have a small seating area if you'd like to eat there. We live fairly close by so I usually do pick up , but their delivery has always been good. I would recommend Verona.

Awesome pizza for the area!!! Being from Dyer, I had tons of solid pizza choices. Here... They're a little slimmer. Verona has by far the best pizza. Aurelio's in valpo is garbage (other locations are good), greek's and gelsosomo's are ok... None of them are anything special though. Verona is like pizza from home. I got half cheese half sausage and had it delivered. It showed up in 45 minutes and was hot. Great pizza, will be our go-to place from now on!!!!

So this is a real review of the topic at hand, PIZZA! If you are looking for a review bashing the floor tile in the pizza shop by some trendy hipster, then stop reading now. This is a review on the food at Verona. I call, I place my order, it takes about 3 minutes, they give you the total on the phone and off you go to grab your carry out. I have never used the delivery service because I like to get out of the house, so as far as the delivery service goes, I can't speak for that. I can say, if you live 10 minutes from the location, then get off your butt and go pick up your pizza. The Pizza is awesome, it has a delicious Italian spicy sweet almost slightly beer flavored after taste, DON'T misunderstand, the beer comment is due to the lack of better vocabulary. The Italian beef is unbelievable. It's a large thick sandwich on toasted bread with delicious cheese. This is the kind of pizza and sandwiches that taste even better after sitting in the fridge for a day. My wife and I have been a loyal customers for 5 years. The joint is always clean, TV's everywhere and cozy with tons of killer drink options. I have spoken with the owner several times and he & the staff are always polite, helpful and eager to take good care of us. If you are looking for mouth watering pizza, then go to a pizza joint - Verona, if you are looking to go somewhere to critique the "décor" go to Indiana Furniture.

Pizza was good, but last two times they told me thirty minutes and it was more like 50 minutes. Make sure you go up to the window and ask again in the exact amount of time they tell you if you have to wait, or your pizza will sit there and they will never tell you its ready. Too bad such great pizza comes with mediocre service.

disappointed esp in the crust. got the deep dish. The crust had a funny taste. They might be using Valpo water to make it. Our water sucks. Regardless. Valpo is a great place for pizza. This is not one of them. I ordered carry out so not sure of the ambiance. the delivery was prompt.

Great pizza and the largest hot wings you will find in NWI. Wings are meaty and taste great. Love the thin crust pizza.

Best pizza in NW Indiana...no kidding. I'm originally from the south side of Chicago, and until now, have not been able to find a good pizza here in NW Indiana. My favorite pie here is their "Italian". It's absolutely superb! They have recently expanded, so now you can dine in too..although I've never done so yet. Not sure if they have a liquor license or not. Anyway, I originally had one minor complaint about this place, but I must now take that back. My complaint was that they don't brown the cheese. Well, it turns out, the pie we always get (the "Italian") has fresh diced tomatoes and cheese added to the top after it's cooked...so that's why it never looked browned to us. Anyway, we still take it home and pop it under the broiler for a minute or so, because I do like my pizza top to be browned a bit. Anyway, this pizza is as good as it gets in NW Indiana. Not sure why, but there are 2 listings for this same place in Yelp. One is listed as "Verona Pizza VII", and one is listed as "Verona Pizza 7". Anyway, I left my review at both. The owner's should probably get one of them deleted in Yelp.

My favorite take out pizza in the area. Perfectly cooked crust and delicious sauce. Super yummy!

We won't be ordering from this place again. We ordered a spaghetti dinner and a sausage pizza. The meatballs on the spaghetti are the size of sm!all softballs but so spicy and tangy I couldn't even eat them. They were very skimpy on the spaghetti sauce so it was dry and sticky. The pizza crust was so hard I couldn't even bite into it and the cheese was very gummy and bland. We frequently order this same thing from Aurellio's and it is so much better My advice, skip verona's and try Aurellio's.
