The food is a bit overpriced but I have a feeling that it has something to do with the location (right next to the University). They have a rather extensive tea selection which is awesome. The service is so-so.

I come here a lot for coffee, but the last time I was in I decided to try the ice tea with bubbles. For now on, I might have to come in for coffee and get an ice tea with bubbles to go. I love the friendly atmosphere and the mile long choices. A great place to spend an hour or two with a friend, your hunny, or just by yourself.

Great little coffee shop in a growing area of Valparaiso. It is nice to go and visit, sit down and talk. They have outdoor seating but can be a bit noisy as Lincolnway can be loud at times. I love to support the local shops and this one is no different. Well worth the visit and is our go to place now.

Good location, right next to campus. Beautiful decor. The coffee's good, the wraps are ok. The guy at the counter looks like a shorter version of Jerry Garcia circa 1975.

Great to find this good coffee shop stop in the area. Good espresso pulled well, flavorful drinks and nice staff. Stop on by and get your coffee fix on.

This place is awesome. It's fairly large, seems like it would be more functional than some other coffee shops in the area to have a study group, or meet up with a larger group of friends. They have a patio (that I didn't sit on being it was -1) and a fireplace inside! I had an expertly crafted cardamom latte. (The cardamom syrup was made in house) with the most rich, large and gormet chocolate chip cookie. (Also made in house) Can't wait to go back and try more things!! So good!

The food is good, but the service is awful. Don't refill your coffee or the blonde lady with short hair will yell at you. In fact, just order food and she'll give you mean looks for doing nothing at all.

Wonderful place to sit and relax. I had their advocado turkey sandwich and homemade potato salad. Both were on point. The atmosphere is perfect and I will definitely be coming back again! The pour over coffee I had was a little too bitter. I think it was probably poured too quickly, but it was good none the less. Still gets 5 stars from me!

I always come here to get my work done. The food is great and I personally love the bubble tea. I like coming here because I don't have to worry about a parking time limit like in downtown Valpo.

Uptown's menu is nearly all made in-house: scones, soups, sandwiches, sodas and more. All of the teas are hand selected and organic. They know the teas as well and can make a good recommendation for you. The proprietors are committed to a friendly ambience and you can feel it when you walk in the door. The employees are friendly as well, making the whole experience a good one. Uptown is my go-to place for lunch, and when I need a change of pace to get some work done with their wifi.

Coffee and espresso are awesome. The vegetarian wrap is great, but the spinach salad is the BEST--especially the dressing that comes with it. Their apple fritters are as big as your face and are primo legit if you get it warmed. The owners, Tony and Shannon, are great people. Take time to get to know them.

The owners are positively lovely and are doing great things with the cafe. Awesome for gelato and for snacks that are a little out of the Valpo ordinary. Love the drinks and the atmosphere!

Great selection of espresso drinks, teas, and smoothies. Crazy gelato flavors that they bring in from Chicago-- always delicious. Menu includes sandwiches, salads, and flatbread pizzas, but their soups are always my favorite. Relaxed atmosphere with tables, couches, and a fireplace. My only complaint is that food takes a while to be prepared, but if you're not in a rush it's worth the wait.

Great cafe, even better service! They have the widest selection of loose leaf tea I have ever seen! Also, their food is extremely scrumptious. I will be coming back.

I love this place for a quick lunch. The BLT is amazing and the creamy garlic chicken flatbread pizza is not too shabby either. Last time we went my wife wanted their drink that was on special that day and they were out.

I went in with my family last night. I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and we met the new owners, who were a delight to talk with. We had not been to Uptown in quite a while, but really glad we stopped in. I had the BLT, loved it and my latte was the best I have ever had, sugar free and still great...

Uptown is a very functional place for any and all to relax, chat or study. Their staff is knowledgeable with their products and also have some great suggestions for new combinations to try. They're reasonable with price and have great quality! Also the underestimated ice creams are worth trying. Featuring a new artist every once in a while, they cater to variety not only in the menu but also in environment. See/taste/meet someone new at this perfectly located place. Well back to Uptown...my Earl Grey with Vanilla calls :)

I've been to Uptown Coffee a few times since moving here. Here's what I love about the place... the ambience is excellent. I really want to plant myself there for awhile with a cup of coffee and wifi. I have not been disappointed with the coffee (It's hard to have a coffee joint with mediocre coffee). It's not Intelligentsia but it's certainly solid. What I do love are the scones - the toffee scone and the cinnamon scone. I think they are made in house and they are excellent. I'll try more of the pastries in the future. I'm trying to make this my hang out place one morning out of the week!

Good place for lunch. The salads and sandwiches are very good. I haven't had anything there that I haven't liked. It is within walking distance of VU, which is a huge plus. I recommend the voodoo chicken salad. It's delicious.

I was a part time resident of Valpo (a week or so a month) for two years while my boyfriend/fiance (now husband) was in grad school. I got to know the town reasonably well and drove around on my own while he was in class or at work. This place wasn't here then, and while the coffeehouse I frequented then is gone, Uptown is a worthy replacement. First, they clearly love their coffee. You can get it drip brewed, chemex brewed, french press, espresso, however you like it. They also have a very extensive tea menu. I got a cafe au lait with a delightful Mexican chiapas blend. Second, the food looks great. My mom and I had some gelato, courtesy of Black Dog, and it was super-dreamy-awesome. I totally cheated on my no-sugar diet, but man, it was worth it. Third, the atmosphere is lovely. Couches, tables, comfy chairs, a fireplace... the outside isn't that pretty (liquor store across the street, parking lot outside) but who cares, the inside is quite nice. And to top it off, the staff was super-friendly and helpful. Please stick around, Uptown. I want you to be here the next time I'm in town. Edit: We loved it so much we came back for lunch! The food menu has a nice variety of sandwiches, wraps, flatbread, quiche and more. I had a wonderful veggie wrap that came with kettle chips; my mom enjoyed her quiche and side salad. Yummy.

Nice little coffee shop with a couple different kinds of seating, a lengthy beverage menu, and some good breakfast and lunch food options. I had a breakfast sandwich and coffee, both very good. Bubble tea in NW Indiana? Nice! The flavor I got, caramelized pear, was a terrible orange color and didn't taste great, but maybe the others are better.

I have only been to Uptown Coffee one time. The food was good albeit overpriced. The tea was great. My friend seemed to enjoy her coffee. The thing that bothers me about Uptown is that they chose to call out Valparaiso University on their Facebook Fanpage for not supporting local businesses without having much to back them up at all except for a McDonald's truck parked nearby. Valparaiso University has been a pillar of this community since 1859 and I am doubtful that as many local businesses would have thrived in this community without the support of the students, faculty, and staff that are a part of that community. I really wanted to love Uptown but it is one coffee shop I plan on never visiting again.

This place just really has a great feel. It is my favorite place to hole up in the area. The inside is modern and cheery, the staff is friendly, and the owners make an effort to know your name once they've seen you around a bit. Definitely go for some Ublee soda - it is homemade and on tap. The dark chocolate mocha is also a cup of heaven. You'll kick yourself for not stopping in earlier once you go.
