Original Spaghetti & Sub House

Terre Haute, 47807
Reviews:
Honestly, they have a pretty extensive menu of subs and Italian fare, but I've never had anything except the spaghetti with meat sauce because it's amazing. The sauce and the garlic bread are the best in town. I've been going off and on for 15 years and it has never failed to disappoint. The only downside is the bathrooms are a little dirty, but everything else is great. If you're visiting from out of town, you should try it. You can feed a family of four for $20 if you buy a bucket of spaghetti. It comes with a huge loaf of their amazing garlic bread. You'll get addicted to the garlic bread.

This establishment is a true piece of history for North Terre Haute whos pizzas and sandwiches are second to none!
Maurizio's 747 pizza with American sausage is one of the fine pizzas of the Midwest. The combination of flavorful sauce and cheese accompanied with a salty crust makes for a good choice. 5 stars

Came in for a late breakfast and I was the only person in the place besides the waitress. Ordered coffee, eggs, hash browns, and bacon. Food came out quick and everything was perfect. Although, at times, the waitress would sometimes just disappear... As a downtown restaurant catering to downtown worker types, it's more of a lunch place rather than a breakfast place. Regardless, I wouldn't hesitate a second to return for breakfast.

Great ribs!! Very non-descipt joint but don't be put off, it's well worth the stop!!!!
On a long drive home from Ohio to Missouri, my husband and I decided to stop in Terre Haute for a meal. Searching through my Yelp app, looking for an alternative to chain restaurants and foul fast food, I found Homey's. You can't really go wrong when nearly every review was given 5 STARS. We took the extra time and miles off the beaten path and were not in the least disappointed! I ordered the hand breaded catfish with coleslaw and greens. The catfish was AMAZING!!! Crispy, crunchy cornmeal and seasoning on the outside.... deliciously moist and juicy on the inside. Quite literally, the best catfish I have EVER eaten in my 59 years! The greens were just like my Grandma (from Tennessee) used to make and the house made coleslaw was the perfect complement, since they didn't serve tartar sauce. My husband ordered the half chicken and it was also cooked to perfection....smokey, moist, fall off the bone. It's clear that they take their time slooooowww cooking! It was all so good that we ordered a pound of their shredded beef, some chicken wings, coleslaw and potato salad to take home. They sent us away with a generous amount of their lip-smacking BBQ sauce and away we went! The family enjoyed dinner that night, as much as we had enjoyed lunch. Thank you, Homey's for a delightful experience!!!!!
Best BBQ in town. Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Seating is tight and decor is spare, but the rib tips are where it is at. The Kansas City-style meat is superb.

These are the best donuts on Earth. Period.
The peanut butter and jelly donut is my fav.It is a fresh donut with a peanut butter glaze on top and jelly inside.I love that the donut it self is not very sweet, you get the sweetness from the frosting/glaze on top it all balances out .I always find other donuts overwhelming because the donut ,frosting and filling are all sweet. Here's a few plus about this place :the price is right & There is always a nice lady behind counter. ps. make sure before coming here you get cash. atm/credit cards not accepted. My fav donut place! Wish we had one where I'm from.
I love that these donuts are a normal size, and they were really delicious. Too sweet for my taste, but that's just about right for most peoples' tastes. I was asked what I wanted right away, and panicked and just ordered a couple obvious things. I'd urge you to take your time because they have some really interesting donuts. If you're used to creme filling on the east or west coast, you'll be expecting a custard filling when you order one of those donuts. It's not going to be custard, it's like a lighter, less sweet white cake frosting type of filling.

OMG.....the Chess pie is PHENOMENAL!!!!!! Great BBQ too! The decor feels like you are at someone's house having dinner - they were SO hospitable and welcoming! Will DEFINITELY be back MANY, MANY times for more!
Wow! Fantastic BBQ! Between the tender meat and the sauce you can't go buy from a store, they definitely have a taste hit anyone who likes good bbq should experience! I'll add a pic of the rib tips we had. Excellentness.
Awesome BBQ from a local joint. Portions are pretty big, and all the meat has the great slow cooked and smoked taste. Sauce is a little sweet with just enough of a kick of spicyness. I'll definitely be back to check out the pulled pork.

J Ford’s Black Angus

502 S 3rd St
Terre Haute, 47807
Reviews:
This is one of the best places in Terre Haute. I have eaten here on a couple of dates and at private events, and it never disappoints! The servers are typically very friendly. I usually order off the specials menu for the day. I've had some excellent lamb chops and veal marsala here. I recommend making a reservation to ensure you get to enjoy yourselves and your time here. I've been able to walk-in without one with no problem, but it's a fairly small location so reservations always help!
Overpriced and mediocre. The vegetables and many of the entrees are frozen and from a bag, just like the $8 a plate restaurant down the street (which is why one of the best chefs in town left) and the waitstaff is horrible. Complain about the waitstaff to the owner and you'll understand where they get their attitude. I recommend paying by credit card so you can dispute any incorrect charges with Visa. I would recommend Stables instead. Better staff, freshly prepared sides, better food, and much lower prices.
I was visiting the area on business and our group decided to give J. Ford's a try. What a great experience. We arrived without a reservation and sat at the bar for 10 minutes as they prepared the table. The Bar Tender was very pleasant and helped us with our selection of red wine. Upon being seated, the owner graciously introduced herself and welcomed us to the restaurant. Every step of the way, the waitress helped us with our appetizer, main order, and wine selection. First, I tried the Almond Breaded Brie. It was simply outstanding. The flavors just melted in my mouth. For the main course I tried the T-Bone Steak. The steak was thick cut and more that a meal for me. It was cooked just right. I really enjoyed this place and plan to return if I am in the area.

Hacienda Coyotes

Reviews:
I was prepared to not like this place, since on the outside it is a bit unassuming. However, I was impressed once I got inside. Be sure and check out the bar scene and decor. I had a combo chicken and beef chimichanga smothered in queso. Both were very good. I wasn't overly impressed with the beer selection, but they do have the typical Mexican brews and frozen margaritas. Overall, I'd recommend everyone in the area try it out. I think you'll like it.
Stopped in on our way through town based off of Yelp reviews. Great food, good service.
My job sent me to Terre Haute for a few weeks, and if you're like me, travel can get you a little bound up and off nature's schedule. When that happens I turn to my "ace in the hole" as it were... Mexican Food. And, since my doctor says it's only healthy to eat Taco Bell 4 times a week, I had to look else were... maybe outside the bun? Instead of running for the boarder, and since eating Taco Bell 4 times a week ensures that I can't run at all. I drove to the newest Mexican restaurant in town. For those of you in Terre Haute that think "Hacienda"!is only one word in the Mexican language, let me reassure you Hacienda Coyotes and Real Hacienda are run by the same people. I found this out because many of the servers looked familiar from the Real Hacienda establishments. I almost thought "do all Hispanic servers look alike?" But no! That's racist! And I don't want to be racist, I just wanted Mexican food. I got the Nacos Mexicanos because I wanted my drive home to be a race with the devil. Will I make home in time to use the facilities or will I add to the plethora of fragrances already accompanying my 1997 mini-van. I like to gamble and since Vegas is too far away, nachos with beans and jalapeños was my game of choice. For anyone one worries about quantiles, do not worry about quantities. At this place there is no eating till you're full. They give you so much food you can eat till you hate yourself. If you're wondering about the quality of the food, maybe you should look at someone else's review, besides, after reading this far would you still even trust my opinion? You want it anyway? Okay, uh... it was real good, like 4 stars good. Either way, I took a chance in Hacienda Coyote. And sure, you COULD say that's because it's where my van stopped because the E on the gas gauge doesn't actually stand for "Enough". But I like to think that I was meant to dine at Coyote and what I experience was a little bit of magic in my belly and not so much indigestion.
