After suggestions from several folks, I finally found the chance to visit, and it was definitely not a disappointment. Looking at the menu, it was obvious to me that the place serves serious modern sushi. I believe the only other place serving high-end contemporary (as opposed to traditional) sushi in Michiana is Zing in Mishawaka. First: the ambiance. This used to be Buffalo Wild Wings before it moved to the south side. The are keeping the general layout and the wood panelling, but they changed the color slightly. The table setup is almost fine dining, with black linen table cloth & napkins and wine glasses at the ready. I said almost because they covered the table with paper so there's no need to change the cloth after every customer. In general it has the typical feeling of modern Asian chic, almost J-pop or K-pop. It's fancy enough to be appropriate for business lunch or dinner. On to the food. Naturally we went with sushi, so we ordered OMG, Amazing, Hollywood, Angel Hair, and Volcano. I like raw stuff, so Hollywood was my favorite. Everything was as expected. As appetizer we ordered the fried calamari and the usual Miso Shiru. Miso is miso, nothing to be excited about, but the calamari is the reason I bump the rating from 4 to 5 stars. Fried calamari is tricky because it's very easy to do wrong, Woochi manages to not only do it right, but to actually improve on it. The squid was firm enough that I knew it was fully cooked, yet it was softer than every single fried calamari that I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and order it. This is not an inexpensive place to eat, but I feel that the quality matches the price. If you have it in your budget, I recommend the place.

I definitely recommend the volcano roll and angel hair roll! My hubby and I always get the crab Rangoon for an appetizer. Haven't tried much else on the menu because we love the sushi!

I have I mild addiction to the Kung pao chicken and the online ordering is super convenient.

I can't believe we waited so long to come here! We have now been twice and outstanding sushi and beef lo mein. The second Time the service was slow but the food made up for it. lady gar gar is amazing as is their maguro and California roll. Great atmosphere, lighting and drinks. Our go to date night place.

Hands down the best sushi place in the Michiana area! I work downtown and dine here often. Great lunch specials. My favorites are the volcano sushi roll and hibachi shrimp. Dinner prices are a little steep, but worth it!

I went to Woochi on a snowy weekday evening. It wasn't that busy. The decor tries to be "contemporary" but it's nothing really that impresses, but the atmosphere is pleasant enough and was clean. The menu was a literal book with a huge number of menu items (too many in my opinion). Now onto the food. I was with a group of only 3 and for appetizers we got edamame and some dumplings. These were good and the portion of edamame was larger than I would have expected. For my entree I ordered the Spicy Maki combination entree, which included 3 spicy maki rolls each with a different fish as well as a ginger salad and miso soup. The most bizarre part of the dinner was when our entrees were all served before our soups and salads (these arrived short after we got our entrees). Somebody must have messed up here since this is not supposed to happen with a restaurant meal. The miso soup was fine but quite basic, didn't seem that much different from the powdered mixed I can buy at the grocery store. The salad was just some iceberg lettuce with a few pieces of shredded carrots and red cabbage with an unassuming dressing. My Spicy Maki Combo main dish was the most disappointing part of my meal. It included three different rolls, but to be honest I couldn't even tell them apart. They all looked exactly alike and the waitress didn't bother pointing out which was supposed to be which. They all tasted roughly the same too. And despite the "spicy" designation they had on the menu, none of them were in the least bit spicy. There was absolutely no texture to any of the rolls. In fact all each of them were was just ground fish mixed with what seemed to be a little bit of fried tempura batter. I'm not exactly sure what it was mixed with, but I was very surprised to find that in each of the rolls the fish was ground up. I've never seen this at a sushi restaurant before. One of my favorite things about eating sushi is getting to taste the different textures of the roll. This was all absent from my rolls at Woochi. All they were were some kind of ground fish mix wrapped in rice. Very disappointing. Maybe next time I should try some of their other rolls.

They are almost always open - including Sundays and that odd period every day between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, when a sushi seeker could starve. The decor is striking and exciting. The best rolls are OMG Wasabi and Lady Gaga.

  • Jill B.

Got the hibachi chicken and it was very bland. Usually I'm used to hibachi chicken having different sauces, but this only came with one seafood sauce. Was not impressed.

Can't review the food because we were never served. Had a 6:30 reservation, and were seated quickly.... that was it. We sat there for 15 minutes while other servers waited on everyone around us. We were never brought water or even acknowledged. We picked up and left without even having a drink. An amazing restaurant starts with excellent service, and Woochi failed miserably in this department.

Ok I'm from CA, where we are spoiled with an abundance of fresh sushi restaurants, so I was a little skeptical coming to a sushi restaurant here, a thousand miles from the nearest ocean, but I've gotta say this place is LEGIT!!! Salmon sushi, red snapper sushi, rainbow roll, and spicy tuna roll were excellent!!

  • Tony M.

After a few more visits to Woochi, I've had to bring them down a couple stars... Previously my only disappointment comes from the way they prepare some or the rolls. The spicy tuna roll features ground tuna with very little heat. I prefer to find larger pieces of tuna with more spice! On my most recent visit I tried their Ramen. Priced at $18, my expectations were high. I've had traditional ramen in a variety of restaurants across the US. My favorite being Santouka, which operates many restaurants in Japan and a few in the Unites States. But even at a world class ramen restaurant like Santouka I can feed me and my wife for under $20...Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can even classify what Woochi served me as ramen. It was beef broth, with chucks of untrimmed beef stew meat, and some thick egg noodles... They threw in some bok choy and a fried egg to "class it up", but there was zero flavor. The broth was bland and horrible, and the noodles were just wrong. I left extremely disappointed, so much that I do not think I will be going back.

  • Brian Z.

I wasted $18:00 on the "Ramen Soup" which was beef and noodle soup, 2 quarters of bok choy and a over cooked over easy fried egg. Not even real ramen noodles it was like flat pad thai noodles. Not even remotely worth $18.00. They said it is $18.00 because It is so large. It truly is not large just a lot of noodles. I would be hard pressed to pay $6.00 for this soup let alone $18.00 I guarantee at $6.00 this place is still making 50% profit on cost. $18 is just plain stealing from people. It is for this fact alone I will not go there anymore. For $18 there should have been filet mignon or lobster in there. Try Cambodian Thai's Noodle Soup for $4.95 and it is just a large.

FINALLY visited this place after having it on my list for what seemed like forever. By total coincidence, we managed to visit on half-price bottles of wine night, which was a great surprise. The service was great, and our server was happy to answer any questions we had and made some good recommendations and suggestions. The sushi was fresh and really, really beautiful. They also have brown rice options, which I love! The only mistake I made was ordering the ginger salad without asking for the dressing on the side; it was pretty gloppy. It was a great place to catch up over dinner and drinks. Glad I finally checked it off my to-visit list!

First I would like to mention that the server was very attentive and kind. I ordered the Tempura Dinner special. There seemed to be a disconnect in the kitchen as it took awhile and I could hear the kitchen asking to see the menu (presumably to determine what they were supposed to include). When my meal did come out, they had brown rice vs the fried I had ordered. The server was on top of it and graciously offered an additional 10% off my meal for the mixup. They did bring the fried rice a few minutes later. The meal was larger than I expected, but the reason I didn't finish was that the tempura started tasting greasy about halfway through. I plan to come back to sample the sushi and teriyaki, but not sure I would order the tempura again.

Awesome atmosphere and good food at a reasonable price. And the Volcano roll is amazing.

Came in for lunch, got the Hibachi salmon with the Bento Box on the waitress's recommendation. The dish comprised salmon, rice, three sushi rolls, two shrimp tempuras, and a side of stir-fried veggies. Salmon was chucked in a pool of viscous gravy, its flesh an alarming shade of red and somewhat unyielding. Sushi rolls were A-OK, ditto shrimp tempuras. Stir-fried veggies were oily and coated in some sort of glutinous substance. My gf enjoyed her speciality rolls: Mango Madness and OMG Wasabi, which was not spicy enough to warrant bothering God with our appeals. Gf called the LED-lit bar "very South Beach." Made the mistake of leaving the leftover sushi in the car: my bad. We decided we would come back. Also, Asian fusion generally involves the "fusion" of Asian cuisines, not listing General Tso's chicken and sushi on one menu.

A little pricey compared to your standard take-out prices, but you get a lot of food and it's really awesome.

Food is ok but the atmosphere seems like an over zealous attempt at pretentiousness. Beef ramen- pretty good, sashimi starter- alright, but prices are a little high and I would prefer to go somewhere with less on the menu and the chef focuses more on a select few items that he/she perfected.

Have been there twice in the past week, both times with out of town guests. We are not huge fans of raw fish, but the menu is so huge, it can accommodate all tastes! The Hot and Sour soup was very good, as was the Miso soup. As well as the soup, we ordered 3 starter rolls, and then ordered 2 of the special rolls....mango madness and volcano...both excellent! We also ordered shrimp tempura...delicious! This was definitely enough for the 4 of us! Their lunch menu sounds awesome, so we will go back during lunch hours! Our waitress was attentive and very helpful when it came to ordering. Another great restaurant in downtown South Bend!

Kayla was amazing. Very knowledgable of the menu and focused on customer service. The sushi was great and the service was better. Thanks Kayla for a great evening dinner. My suggestion is the Dragon Roll too.

For an Asian fusion, this place is pretty ok. The presentation for their dishes are well done but some of the rolls and food are kind of mediocre. Overall, service was average. It's a bit overpriced for what is being served.

My wife and I met a couple of close friends for dinner here a few weeks ago. Upon walking in, you will notice that the atmosphere is fairly unique. The building used to be a Buffalo Wild Wings, so it is impressive that they were able to redo the interior in such a way as to capture a trendy vibe. It does look a little forced though. We did not come for atmosphere though, we were here for sushi. We had edamame for an appetizer, my wife had a glass of wine (not sure of the variety) and I had a whiskey-based mixed drink. I think that it had honey in it. The edamame was good, fairly standard. The mixed drink was also pretty average, which is fine. We ordered a fried soft-shell crab roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a house roll called the "French Kiss." I always love soft-shell crab, and both it and the spicy tuna roll were pretty good. The French Kiss roll was very good, and is the primary memorable food of the evening. The service was also very good. Our server checked on the table regularly and had a good knowledge of the restaurant's offerings. Overall, Woochi is a decent establishment that serves decent food and decent drink. The price, however, would leave you to expect something more than a "decent" dining experience. It was very expensive for three rolls, three drinks, and an order of edamame, and that seems like a fairly large disincentive to go to Woochi. That said, there are certainly plenty of crappy restaurants in South Bend, and "decent" is definitely a step above many of the area restaurants.

The location in downtown South Bend is excellent. I am yet to order something that wasn't delicious. The bar has a wonderful atmosphere and the lady bartender that works during the weekdays is hands down, the best bartender in town. I believe her name is Kelly? Anyways, I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in Asian cuisine.

I ordered the spider roll. It was awesome. The atmosphere in the bar area is very cool but we didn't stay long to hang out because the drinks were pretty expensive for what you get. I had a pineapple cocktail that came in a hollowed out pineapple. It was delicious but not sure it had much alcohol. No price was listed but I assumed it would be similar to the other cocktails listed ($9 or so). It was $16. Wow.

waitress needs to update her skills ! ( residents of Goshen ) husband & I visit 1st time,. food is plenty, prices good, ( service / waitress subpar / below an average level. ) while she waited in bar, doing whatever, we continued to wait for her to come get our orders, I had to get up and go find her, also we again waited fer her to come back, after eating, waiting,.... again I finally went to find her to get the bill. she was back there, playing on her cell phone,. you see we were THE ONLY ONE'S in the restaurant at this time, there is NO excuse for this sloppy behavior. the music was loud , we asked to have it turned down, its a restaurant NOT a DISCO. geesh, well. it was not turned down. rather disturbing in a this atmosphere. husband gave her a 2 dollar tip, anyway, because of this , I refused to tip her, she noticed this, and I had to laugh a bit when I asked for mine copy of receipt. she tossed at me like ...here. get the hell out. I noticed her flippant attitude . oh well. I still will go back, will ask for a different server next time.! bathrooms clean, restaurant clean. waitress. needs to go, she doesn't care too much about being there, for this particular job. she was nice at our table. yet... I don't appreciate having to go after mine waitress when I go out to eat - specially when it is NOT busy or empty . 15. sept. 2014 / 3.42 pm of bill transaction / table A13 / name on bill is Amy, not sure if this was her or the other girl who was at register...

Hubby and I love trendy restaurants and Japanese cuisine, which was obviously lacking in michiana. We have been to this location when it was buffalo wild wings, wild style wings and now woochi. It's absolutely gorgeous inside! The food was wonderful. We enjoyed appetizer spring rolls, assorted sushi and entrees. We didn't care much for the fried cheesecake but were intrigued so we had to try it. I had a beautifully tasty drink with elderflower liquor! Overall the atmosphere, drinks, and food were great. The only reason for 4 stars is the price. We spent well over $100 which is a lot for dinner and drinks in the Bend. We will be back but maybe wont drink as much. :-)

For someone who has been living on the west coast for the past few years, I've grown rather picky about my sushi selection. Thanks to Woochi, I have my new go-to! I have been to dinner three times since it opened a few weeks ago and have nothing but praise for the food, staff, and atmosphere. The menu is comprehensive, the drinks selection playful, and the waiters so helpful and upbeat. As far as pricing goes, I think the cost of my meals have been very fair for the quality of food and drink. I can't recommend Woochi enough. My new favorites are the OMG Wasabi, Naruto, and Amazing rolls, as well as an order of veggie gyoza with a Basil Smash.

I tried Woochi for the first time last night off of a recommendation from a friend. I went around dinner time during restaurant week and surprisingly it was not very busy. It was nice out so we decided to sit outside to eat and then check out the bar for some after dinner drinks. The waitress was a little clumsy but really nice, idk maybe she was having an off day. Other than that the service was decent. The food was decent too. I got the fried calamari, which never disappoints. Fried anything is good, that's a given. It was cooked well; nice, golden and crispy. Then I ordered the Volcano roll. If I remember correctly it had Salmon, Crab meat and Avocado, with Eel Sauce, Spicy Mayo Sauce and Honey Wasabi. It was delicious! I would get it again. I had a glass of Riesling to accompany it which was really good too. The bar area was pretty cool, not what I was expecting; very glitzy. But for some bizarre reason they were plalying elevator music, please get a better playlist! I think the decor is just a little too loud, it looks more like a club but maybe that's what they were going for. The cocktails were grossly overpriced for what you got. If you go here to eat I would limit it to one drink or two glasses of wine otherwise you'll look at your bill and wonder how you spent so much. It wasn't the best dining experience, but it was good enough to definitely come back again. Their lunch specials seem pretty good too.

Overpriced. Ambiance was weird. They're trying so hard to be trendy. Poured soy into my soy sauce dish and out came white chunks? Got a new sauce dish and sauce sauce and the same thing happened. Sushi was mediocre.

We had the Avocado Tower and the Lady Gaga. Both sushi dishes were excellent. The flavors were great and the presentation was really cool. We sat at the bar and met the owners who were very friendly. Overall a great experience.

Great local restaurant. By far the best contemporary Japanese restaurant in the area. It was highly recommended before my first experience and have returned every visit back to town since it opened. The fish is very fresh and is priced very appropriately. The service is absolutely outstanding; very friendly, observant, and attentive.

I went for the first time on a First Friday with a friend. This is a great addition to DTSB! I ordered a bento box with shrimp...it was huge and absolutely great. The teriyaki sauce was light and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. My friend had a chicken dish and loved it as well. I enjoy frequenting the owners other restaurant, Zing, for lunch. I look forward to returning.

  • Joel R.

I really enjoyed it! We had a great server and the food was super! I went a week prior and got sushi, yesterday I go the General Tso Chicken, and that was delicious. The sushi is competitively priced and I would say it is the best in the area, as far as my novice pallet is concerned. My only detraction is the music is bad, it is like a house techno blend, that isn't enjoyable. Otherwise Great! This is just one mans opinion.

  • Katie L.

Woochi has a fabulous atmosphere however the food is overpriced compared to what you are served. Food - Overpriced compared to what you actually get. Service - Average. Take away: It is good place for date however not so much if you plan on getting full on sushi.

Just no. Look, I'm from Europe.. Ikea chic? I get it. I love the yellowblue warehouse as much as the next person. I didn't even mind the 80's party hall carpet (with confetti and streamers included in the pattern), or our waiter whom I swore disembarked off the Love Boat the previous night. It's all good. What was not good was lunch. The menu was as comprehensive as the old testament, so we stuck to some basics. Rock n roll- roll, Cali rolls, salad. Easy does it. Sushi rice? Dry, hard, yuck -weird. Spicy Cali? Not available - solution: sriracha swirl (I do appreciate the effort!). Thank the Rooster for that swirl because the rest of the roll was bland. Rock n roll-roll.. cold, oily, and so, so, SO bland. Decor: wowza Rolls: no-za I was disappointed, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, or maybe I am spoiled eating all the sushi all the time all over the place.. I don't know. I prefer writing positive reviews but all the positive ones do not reflect our particular experience so.. take it for what it is.

Great meal! Had the Lady Gar-Gar roll and Philadelphia roll! The Lady Gar-Gar roll came in a nice margarita glass and the rolls were dipped in a sweet pineapple tropical sauce. Philadelphia roll was very fresh. Would definitely go again if I'm in the area

Food was amazing...I had the triple delicacy (cooked beef, scallops, shrimp, peppers). It wasn't amazing though when I woke up at 4 am with the worst case of food poisoning ever. I'll never look at green peppers the same again.

Woochi is sooo good. One of the sushi chefs and I were close friends and let me just say, he is amazing! His sushi is the best I've ever had. I love the way they designed the interior and the owner is super positive and up beat. He's a great owner.

Went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Made reservations online for a Saturday night and put in comments that it was our anniversary. It would have been nice if that was acknowledged and maybe give us a free drink. Food was amazing and the presentation was stunning. Went during restaurant week so the deals were good. Would like to have had better dessert choices, I didn't like the cheesecake or the ice cream.

Went on a date night to this place. We had been there about a year ago. Wednesday is half off bottle of wine. The restaurant wasn't busy but we had to wait quite a while for our server to come to the table- her personality (Julie) more than made up for the wait. Ordered beef skewers as an appetizer, they were just ok. Our entrees were fantastic! I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and I couldn't have been happier. The atmosphere in the bar area is ok. Not sure about the dining area. They also have a nice patio area. We will definitely be back.

My favorite DTSB restaurant, I love their Hibachi, sushi, and tea. They offer bento boxes for lunch. One of the best things about Woochi is the atmosphere, it's very neo-tokyo. I also know they are known for their cleanliness.

I am a regular here and have never had a poor experience. If you cannot decide what to get I recommend the chef's choice. It is a great choice to split between two people and what they bring out is always delicious with a good variety and not intimidating if you are not a regular sushi eater.

Whenever I go to sushi bar, I always judge it by how fresh the fish is. Woochi definitely pass the test, since I ordered the sashimi combo. The set up is good for dating, and they provide ice/torch to keep wine/tea cold/warm. Very thoughtful. I tried almost all the appetizers, all really good. However, haven't tried the chinese food there yet, feel a little bit pricey.

Nice to have a decent Asian restaurant in South Bend. We always eat here after going to the hospital or clinics nearby. Food is good especially the sushi selections. Servers are cordial too and are helpful in suggesting items to try if you're not familiar with the cuisine. Their business lunch prices are very affordable given the portion that they serve. After 2pm, you'd be charged dinner prices. Interior looks nice and clean. Would recommend for dates, casual meetings or maybe just to have good Asian fusion food for yourself or the family. The only thing I don't like when going here is the lack of parking space.

Simply amazing. We arrived at this restaurant late on a Sunday not realising that it was close to closing time. However, despite this they were willing to serve us. We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent. We had a variety of sushi dishes and some hibachi and they were all prepared perfectly. And that's coming from sushi snobs too. Well done Woochi! However, I do have to add that the soy sauce was the low sodium variety - way to Kikkoman when he's down. [joke]. Our server, Lucy, was fantastic and accommodating. She recommended some great dishes and drinks. Just one thing - the music was shockingly inappropriate. If I wanted to attend a rave on my day off I'd buy a ticket to Ibiza. Try something chilled like 'Bonobo' (Ninja Tune/Tru Thoughts). So, sorry to keep you but thank you Woochi - we had a great meal and a great time. We'll definitely dine here again.

Yummmmmmm, that is how this has to start. This is our favorite sushi spot in the area. The ambiance is neat...it almost feels like you are in Miami! They are a little slow with service when they are busy but it is easy to get drinks. We love the avocado tower, The Volcano Roll and The Rock and Roll, Roll.

I went with 3 coworkers for lunch and we were quickly seated. The ambience was awesome, I would describe it as modern business but without all the super seriousness; it was a chill place to eat. Our waitress was awesome, we even made some sly jokes to her and she was quick and jokingly rebuttal while still maintaining good work ethics. The sushi was awesome and cheaper than most places I've been to; however, I highly recommend their entree dishes because the serving amount is more than enough to fill you. We will definitely come back.

I went to Woochi for the grand opening and have mostly good, but also mixed thoughts on it. Woochi is in the old Buffalo Wild Wings space in downtown South Bend, and while they have added new decor, you can still tell there was a BWW there before. The booths against the wall are white with black trim, and the chairs are plush white chairs which I really liked. I wish they would've kept the black and white theme going on the walls, but the walls were kept the odd natural wood color with some strange sponge paint like detailing on it. It didn't go with the seating colors at all. Also the lighting in there is too much and hurts the eyes. The light switch from blues, yellows, reds, greens, etc. Wish they would've just kept it a dim, loungy atmosphere. Now, onto the food: I am a huge fan of Zing in downtown Mishawaka so I knew the food would be amazing. The menu is similar to that of Zing but with a ton more added specialty rolls, salads, appetizers, and tons of cocktails. What I really appreciated also, being vegan myself, is that there is a separate section of vegan and gluten free items. There is even a vegan specialty sushi roll on the menu as well! Definitely check this place out!

Read this review with the knowledge that I don't live here so I'm comparing it to Sushi I've had in other cities (Dallas/Memphis/Honolulu/St. Louis...). Ordered 2 rolls to pick up and take back to the hotel (spicy tuna and volcano). Service was very good/prompt. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly. When I got my order, I asked if there were chopsticks inside and there was. Thought I had my bases covered but when I got to the hotel, there was no soy sauce! Seriously? Isn't it understood that soy sauce comes with every order? The sushi inside smelled a little fishy before I ever opened the bag. It didn't taste bad but was very average. The spicy tuna roll was about the same quality I would expect from one of those "grocery store" sushi places they have at Whole Foods or Fresh Market. Overall I certainly didn't feel like the amount/quality of this sushi warranted the $22 price tag. See the photo for what $22 will get you here. Overall good service but underwhelming/over-priced sushi.

I just waited over 2 hours for a completely mediocre meal of shrimp and broccoli with bland fried rice. We had reservations at 7:30pm but our food did not come until after 9:30pm. The place was almost empty by the time our food came. We had to wait over 40 minutes just to get water. And to top it off, no one came to our table to apologize. We did get 10% off, but in my opinion, this meal should have been comped.

We really like Woochi and their fresh ingredients. A sleeper menu item is the sizzling rice soup with plenty of fresh veggies and 2 shrimp and some scallop and "imitation crab". Opt out of the imitation crab on all the menu items. May as well be called un-natural crab or artificial crab. Head server didn't even know what the imitation crab is! Excellent rolls especially the Dragon Roll and all the fresh seafood rolls. A bit too many "deep fried" rolls but this is the middle of the Midwest. Haha. Calamari appetizer while delicious and amazingly tender unlike many area restaurants, is deep fried too. Could try a grilled or Sautéed version? Fab drinks menu will try some soon. Will add updates as I try other menu items.

I have had 2 experiences with Woochi's - once in a large group for dinner, and more recently for a 1 year dating anniversary lunch (Saturday - around 2pm: very dead in there!). Both times I was impressed by the friendly and helpful service, classy atmosphere, and the varied menu. Every roll I have ordered has been delicious: Though some of the "spicy" rolls aren't very spicy. The Naruto Roll is a great, delicate flavor wrapped in cucumber for people trying to avoid carbs; the Avocado Tower (starter) is smaller than expected but full of flavor; The Hamachi Jalapeno (starter) was excellent with a light "kick" in spice and ponzu sauce; The French Kiss Roll was full of deep-fried goodness (and not as spicy as I was worried about --- but); The Snow White Roll with a more delicate flavor and texture and mango sauce complimented it well; And the Mango Madness Roll is a great "dessert-like" finish to the meal, as long as it is covered in soy sauce! One of my favorite things here is the tea: I love all the choices and how it is served. We ordered and split a Chrysanthemum Tea. I recommend you try one! In all, a very delicious and enjoyable experience, and I am sure to go again: Perhaps on the 1 year anniversary of the restaurant, which is the weekend of Oct.17 - 19, 2014 and dinner specials will be offered.

Yesterday was my second time at Woochi. My first experience here was decent. The vegetable tempura was so-so, Dragon Well tea was delicious, and the Mango Madness roll was also great. I went here last night for my boyfriend's 22nd birthday. The waitress was kind and the service was great. I ordered a Snow White?, Mango Madness and Shrimp Tempura, along with the Dragon Well Tea. Everything tasted fine and we had a great evening. ...until we came home and about 45 minutes-1 hour later, BOTH of us got food poisoning!! We were writhing in pain together. My boyfriend had his head over the toilet, I was lucky mine wasn't as bad. Neither of us ate anything strange earlier in the day nor do we have food allergies. We started feeling sick at the same time, meaning something was wrong with the food at Woochi. We're assuming the fish was bad/ not the most fresh. We did not eat quickly either. I called Woochi last night and the manager had already left. I left a message with the hostess and she said the manager would call back...alas I got no phone call. Thanks for the food poisoning. Glad my boyfriend got to spend his birthday throwing up while I rubbed his back for an hour. Bleh!

Let me just start by saying, the food was excellent. The presentation was neat and colorful, the flavor was appropriate for the dish, whether rich and deep, or light and complex. The decor was nice and seemed clean. My children and I went for a meal, and sat over 30 minutes before I had to go up and ask for service ... any service ... yes, we had seated ourselves ... litterally, no one who worked there even acknowledged us. There were several of the help standing around chatting while we waited, and I finally decided it was time, as others were getting waitstaff help while we languished there, awkwardly at our table. It was Sunday, the weekend of South Bend's 150th anniversary celebration, so maybe they'd "just had enough" that weekend, I don't know. But, it's not my job to care about such things when presumably the management should be keeping such things in mind. I will end by saying, the food was good, and once we got help, they were cordial, even pleasant.

Decent sushi for South Bend but I would rather go to Whole Foods and get my sushi fix there. The ambience is nice and when you pass by it doesn't look like a typical sushi restaurant. I am a regular here and have never had a poor experience. If you cannot decide what to get I recommend the chef's choice. It is a great choice to split between two people and what they bring out is always delicious with a good variety and not intimidating if you are not a regular sushi eater.

Woochi has a fabulous atmosphere however the food is overpriced compared to what you are served. Food - Overpriced compared to what you actually get. Service - Average. Take away: It is good place for date however not so much if you plan on getting full on sushi.

Ambiance is very nice. The king kong roll is really really good! There were five of us that went, I tried everyone's dish and everything was tasty. Will definitely be back!
