I stopped in for lunch today and was excited to try some authentic Italian food but was disappointed. They had great lunch specials for 8.50. I ordered an antipasto salad, minestrone soup and a meatball. The salad: The homemade house dressing was bland, the greens were basic and the meat looked like sandwich cold cuts. The Soup: It was o.k. The Meatballs: They were so overcooked I would almost call them burnt. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly. Doors were opened and closed for our party. The servers and host were smiling and made us feel welcome. Our server was very nice but seemed a little inexperienced. He told us both of the soups were broth based but then delivered one that was creamy. I asked the two people I was with how many stars they would give their lunch one said 2.5 and the other said 3.5 but only because of the friendly service.

Excellent Italian food made by the friendly owner. Good service, very good food, prices are what you expect for a nice place like this.

The service was beyond bad on Friday. Teenagers were being trained and managed by a bitter 20-something waitress. We thought we had dinner portions but got less than a cup of pasta each. We ordered dessert and the teenager working our table forgot to place the order. We said forget it. Then they took about 10 minutes to bring the check. I got up. When I wrote the amount on the charge slip the waiter had the audacity to stand there and examine the tip with us present.

I had the $8 lunch special which was pasta, salad and the garlic knot bread. The Cesar dressing was exactly like I like and very tangy. The waitress suggested the Alfredo sauce so I had tortellini with Alfredo sauce. Alfredo sauce is not my favorite, but I do agree their Alfredo sauce is very flavorable. I was trying not to eat the entire garlic knot, but I took one bite and then devoured it. So good! Outdoor seating on the cute square. Pretty shady there so kinda chilly today. But, nice to watch traffic and people on the square.

Too expensive and not as good as Fazoli's! I could go on, but I will leave it at that.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to the casino. Staff was very friendly and provided great service. The food was fantastic. Will definitely come back. Every one in our party ordered something different and all was excellent. Good selection of wine and very reasonably priced.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on they way home from Chicago. The restaurant was not busy. Our server was friendly and polite. The food was good, but not great. The boys loved the bread served with the pasta dishes, but my wife thought it was a little hard. She enjoyed her pasta dish. I had a chicken sandwich, which was quite tasty. Overall, it was a nice lunch.

First if all the staff is super friendly. Had a new girl waiting on me tonight with some help and they were great. Recommended the baked manicotti and it was spectacular. If you are in town you must stop by.

A partook in the fettuccine alfredo lunch special with broccoli cheddar soup. It was very good. Very filling and for 7.50 the lunch special is quite a good deal. If you're in Shelbyville and hungry for Italian, it's worth a try.

LOVED IT! The bread is awesome, the sauce is really good... the pizza by the slice or whole is great too. I've been twice and am planning on going thru the menu! Met and talked with the owner Jim and GM Jay and both great guys... Jay's the GM but he can still toss a pizza in the air!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
