Visited for first time around 11am on a Saturday. Business appeared brisk with several empty, un-bussed tables evidence of a high turnover. Roadside diner atmosphere with standard breakfast and lunch menu selections. Inexpensive prices and attentive, friendly service. Food quality and portion size were average to below-average.
Went there last week for the first (and last) time. Joan and I had breakfast. I had pancakes and ham; Joan had ham and eggs. The pancakes were nothing special. But the ham? Probably the worst excuse for ham that Joan and I had ever had. Dry, overcooked, and cold. Since it on a highway, they probably don't have many return customers. Louie's in La Porte is much better and cleaner. Booth seats were decorated in contrasting duct tape colors. I would have given it a one star rating; but that would have been rude. See this place on the highway - keep going
Have eaten here many times over the past 5 years, ate here twice this week, gotta tell you, it is a great place. The food is great, the portions are generous, and the staff is super friendly without being hovering. I had the meat lovers omelet ,added an extra egg and mushrooms, and it was very tasty and filling.Next day I had the western omelet with extra egg and mushrooms.Even better. The food came out so quick, I as really impressed! Wish they sold newspapers, but, hey, we're here to eat, right? Top marks.

I had a pretty good time here. We came on a Sunday evening, so they had the prime rib sandwich from the leftover prime rib on Saturday. It's some pretty tasty french dip, basically, with a side of creamy horseradish sauce to slather on it. Fries are the skinny little bugger, nothing of note. Cole slaw is kinda like KFC's, and honestly pretty good. The prime rib burger, made with prime rib, was also pretty durned tasty. Our order came on the done side, so order a step rarer than you normally would. Fried chicken was solid. Moist, good crispy outside without being greasy. The dinners come with an option of some sort of potato thing. It's mostly butter. Yeah. Almost all of the patrons are smokers, so if you'll allergic you probably won't have the best time. They do have outdoor seating, though, so when it's not too hot/cold that's a nice place to just relax. Considering it's a bar that happens to have tasty food, the salad was actually pretty solid. It's your typical midwestern iceberg/green lettuce with some onion tomato and carrot, but the pieces were all the right size and very fresh. There's no real way to fit more than five people on a single table without going outside, so consider that as well.
This place is in the middle of no where... literally. You don't end up here accidentally. The place is a mix of nascar loving locals and during good weather there are quite a few bikers in the bar. This is one of those bars that has been there forever. The only reason I am reviewing this place is because its a great day trip, Its a cool drive in and there is a really nice lake a few blocks away (make sure you use the public beach, not the association one, you know how that goes). The food here is great. I would highly recommend the buffalo burger and a glass of beer from Backroads Brewery. This is the only place I know outside the brewery to get Backroads and its great. There is a buffalo ranch a few miles away which is where I'm pretty sure is where they get their meat from and it is easily the best buffalo burger I have ever had.
Not from the area was just visiting family and they took us here. Was very iffy at first wondering how the heck food was going to be good at this place but to my surprise it was pretty good. I had the prime rib and wife had the fried chicken. Both were good meat came out just a tad over cooked but still was super tender. Overall some of the better prime rib I've had. If the place was local I would definitely go back. Oh forgot to mention prices are pretty good to.

It's your typical truck stop diner. Food was about par, but lots of it. I got the all you can eat fish fry, and it wasn't too greasy, but everything was on the soft side. No fountain drinks either, but it's probably best not to guzzle down 3 cups of diet coke before hitting the road. They were actually playing the Johnny Depp/Armie Hammer version of Lone Ranger (Armie is totally adorbs, btw), so when they say they play westerns all the time, they're not being lazy about it. The lady taking orders was cool, but in a pleasant way. Definitely made sure you didn't stop eating and didn't have to wait to order, and I guess if you're a trucker, that's a very considerate thing, so you can fill up the tank and get back on the road. Probably wouldn't go back, but if the other place is closed and you're starving, it's not a bad place to stop. And if you're looking for a lot of food at a reasonable price, this place is pretty ok.

Breakfast until 10:30, don't count on it! We showed up at just past 10 on a Sunday and they had switched over. I'm done with McDonalds breakfast if you can't count on them following their own set hours.
Rolling Prairie, IL. My first McDonalds in this state! How exciting of a landmark! It is Mckkkkeeedeee's wifi and a restroom stop off the highway.
It's on the turnpike so it's pricey. And I'm not sure how, but it was pretty stale. Surprisingly, since they were busy.
