Waiter Ryan H. I'm getting older so it doesn't take as much to fill me up anymore. The small sirloin is just about right. I also had the Caesar Salad and baked sweet potato. We did call ahead seating, so essentially no wait at all. Our waiter was Ryan H. He was Johnny-on-the-spot for us tonight. Very attentive and kept the drinks full and the bread never empty. Even made us some tartar sauce when my son ordered the Tilapia/crab special. (I know, I know--ordering fish in a steak house! You try to raise them right, and still things like this happen)

Cory waited on us. Did a good job ! Porterhouse steak was perfect & tender. Wedge salad was disappointing -- lettuce was bitter and too dense.---must have been older as well. Not as sweet as many others I have had here! Wanted to add that if you're over 60 use the AARP discount

Chain food. You know exactly what you're getting, no matter where you are in the country. Our waitress went above and beyond, I wish I remembered her name.

Yes, 3 stars for one on my favorite places to eat. The reason is that the service here can be hit or miss. I have always had a good waiter, lets get that straight. But the drive up and kitchen have been responsible for some funky meals. I explained to the manager here that I would not be back after an evening here a while back. One month later we returned and the service and food was Great.

Superb service! The staff was super friendly & the food was delicious. DeFinately a wonderful break from "fast food". Our waitress was really nice & delightful. We had the 3 course meal, with blooming onion, salad & chicken tortilla soup. All very tasty & filling. 5 stars! Would give 10, but that's obviously not an option.

I tend to like the chains as at least you know you get consistency. Well, not this time. I ate at the Outback in Muncie and have to say it is well below average for this mega chain. I did notice a few new items on the menu and I tried the calamari. How hard is it to fry calamari and have a red dipping sauce. The dish came and they apologies that they do not have manara sauce. Really, no dipping sauce. Then I tasted the calamari and no sauce could have saved these things. The oil was real old and they were really dry and chewy. My waitress even mentioned, "wow, those look nasty". Salad was ok and steak was good but the service was really, really slow. I am very disappointed in this experience. No way this location is going to stay open.

Love their Blooming Onions ! Their streaks are good and hot but a little bit spicey. Their side dishes could be a bit larger for what they charge. They keep you glass filled.

So this place has been a staple for my family for years, we would go a few times a month. I am not sure if they recently underwent new management , but things have gone down hill. The wait staff has recently been pretty rude, food is either over cooked or under cooked, I am unsure why they bother even asking how you want it cooked. Management is very rude if you have any questions or concerns. Time to find a new place.

Exceptional service on a crazy busy night. Manager Cory was very gracious and loved our server, Madison. They went the extra mile when they had clearly been running a marathon all day.

Good, typical outback. We got there around4:30 so there was no wait. By 5:30, people were waiting outside. Service was good. Food was consistent quality. We had seared ahi tuna, coconut shrimp, and crab avocado. We were stuffed at he end of our meal. All was very good.

We hardly ever go to Outback (or any casual dining place, for that matter) but we had a gift card and wanted to use it. Plus, I remembered they had seared ahi tuna and I thought that might stave off my sushi craving just a little. It didn't disappoint... exactly. We split the small Ahi Tuna appetizer, thinking we didn't want to fill up early. It was really tasty, although not very seared (which suits me fine) and when they say small, they mean SMALL. There were six very thin slices of tuna on top of a lettuce wedge. The wasabi and ginger dressing was awesome, though. I kind of wanted to drink it with a straw. I got: -Black Cherry Peach Mojito: Tasty if you're into a combination of flavors and one of the less expensive drinks on the menu. Didn't taste much rum in it, though... hmm. -Tilapia with Lump Crab and Seasonal Veggies: The fish itself was light and non-fishy-tasting, but the cooks overdid it on the seasoned salt and pepper that coated the outside of it. The crab was okay and offered a break in the overly-seasoned action. Kyle got: (in his own words) -Caesar side salad: "Salad was good. It was very cheesy and lots of dressing. As far as Caesar salads go, it probably had too much dressing and cheese, but I liked it. It was... I don't know." -New York Strip (cooked medium-rare) and garlic mashed potatoes: "The steak was pretty average. It was cooked right, but had too much pepper. Pretty average potatoes." "I would give the general experience a C+. But to be fair, I'd give most casual dining places a C+." The service was pretty good. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were nice and attentive. It was past 8:00 on a Saturday night and they were still very busy, but our food came relatively quickly. There was decent timing in between the appetizer and the meal itself. While we wouldn't make Outback our go-to place in Muncie, we'd go back if we got another gift card.

Food is alright, I've had better at other Outbacks. The service here is just terrible. Tried it twice, both times had terrible experiences. It's like the staff doesn't care about the customer. Management is lacking.

Aside from the slow service, my steak was horribly overcooked. Salads looked like they came from a bag and they cooked the wrong type of steaks for one of our orders.

To update this Food changed to 4/5 they didn't burn the blooming onion, good job guys! You learned how to fry food! Service 1/5 Lady got her hair in the salads as she was carrying them, didn't see our waiter for 20 minutes after we ordered drinks Atmosphere 1/5 Nothing Special, I think it's gotten blander Notes: 18% tip added onto our bill for 7 people, you're kidding me right? We only saw the server maybe 5 times

First off, yes this a chain- get over it. If you are reading this then you are also in Muncie, so you know it's slim pickens when it comes to restaurant choices. Outback is a regular spot for me and the hubster. We go about every 2 weeks to get our steak on. The Ahi Tuna appetizer is great. It is a little pricy but nothing you wouldn't pay at a sushi place. It is sashimi grade tuna with a light sear and is spice encrusted around the edges. It is served on a spear of romaine with 2 yummy sauces. A wasabi vinaigrette and a ginger soy. Both sauces are phenomenal. This is my favorite appetizer, and actually if you get the full order you could eat it as your meal (if you aren't too hungry, even the full order may leave you wanting) The best deal is their Outback Special. You get a 6 oz sirloin with 2 sides and unlimited bread for $9.99?! Um hello, that's better than a crap factory like Sirloin Stockade... seriously. I order my sirloin Medium Rare as I have found anything cooked more well than that comes out too well for my liking. Also, ask for extra seasoning. This will give your taste buds a spicy kick in the mouth. Next up, sides. I love their broccoli, the French Onion soup, baked potato, blue cheese pecan chop salad, green beans... well, I could go on. I haven't had a side I didn't like. Everything is fresh and if you ever get anything you aren't happy, then let your server know and they will fix it ASAP. I have had, on occasion during mid-week visits, not received my steak cooked to my liking. The server was always, without questions or resistance, able to remedy the situation by getting me another steak. Oddly enough, I have found that their best cook works on the weekends, so whenever Mark W. is working our food comes out as if cooked by a steak god. When I have had overcooked steaks from Outback, it's because Mark W. wasn't working the grill. This Outback makes their salad dressings fresh, they make their sauces fresh- it is not a packet of dried powder added to water, not here. And you can verify for yourself by asking your server or when a manager stops by to make sure things are OK. (Managers stop by 80% of the time we have found). This place can get busy on the weekends since it is the only place to get a quality steakhouse experience for so little money in Muncie. Service can be hit or miss (these are mostly Ball State students working their way through college) so I generally set my expectations a little lower because I know most of them are doing the best they can. No place you can get a steak dinner for $9.99 is going to hit it out of the ballpark every time, but we have been consistently pleased with the food, service and ambiance of Outback Steakhouse in Muncie. Tip: They do call ahead seating! Save yourself a grumbling tummy by calling ahead and getting your name on the weekend wait list. Everyone will be jealous when you walk in and get seated right away ;-P

Inconsistent service. Some visits the service is very quick, and other days they don't seem to know how to run a restaurant. 45 minute wait (we were told) turned out to be over an hour. Finally got main course almost two hours in. Very bland steak. Overly greasy bloomin onion. Salads looked like they were from the bottom of the salad barrel.

Came in for a late lunch while visiting my sister-in-law. I ordered the Parmesan pasta which came out pretty flavourless. Ended up using the lemon from my tea to add a bit of depth to it. The consensus around the table was thus: scallops tasted waterlogged, mushy, obviously from frozen, & were coated in pepper. The steaks were super salty. Apps were tasty though (shrooms & blooming onion) & our server was very attentive but annoyingly perky. However, the server & the manager both seemed to hover. WTF? It was 4 pm when we left & there were 6 other tables near us, empty. They didn't need to flip the table, so what's with the practically ushering us out? Very mediocre experience.
