Very good food! Steak sandwich is amazing....and they add mushrooms and onions if you want...also brisket sandwich is legit!

Poor service. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken in a timely manner. The restaurant was neither busy nor full at 6:45 on a Saturday night. 12 minutes to get iced tea, lemonade and water for our party of 5. Food was good, not the best we've ever had, but it was good. Our server never returned to refill drinks; we had to find her and then find her again for the check.

Food was good. FYI out of prime rib before 7 pm. Food came to the table warm not hot, portions were small. Our waitress was AWFUL. She took forever to bring drinks, take our order, and never filled a drink. The table next to us was sat after us served food and left before we got our food. She was horrible.

We were hungry, and had driven past this place, so of course we came back. Sweetie had potato skins with pulled pork, cheese, etc.; I tried one and it was pretty good. She also had mac and cheese which she said was just okay. I got a combo plate, ribs and brisket, with dirty rice and grilled corn as my sides. The corn was amazing- fresh, crisped up a bit, and just what I wanted. The rice was good. The brisket was fine- tender, a little smoky, and shredded up nicely. The ribs were very good, as I'd hoped for a place with ribs in the name (but I was a little nervous about what Indiana would do with ribs...) They had sauce on the side, as requested, and were meaty, smoky, and had a little resistance- pulled off the bone instead of falling off. I would go back, and next time we'll try the homemade bread pudding... Service was great and prices weren't bad.

Arrived at 7:00 on Saturday night and we were seated quickly. Ordered drinks and ready to place order. Me "I'll have a slab of ribs". Waitress "we're out of ribs". Me "really"? Manager walks by and let us know ribs were back in stock. Me "I'll have cole slaw". Waitress "we are out of that". I settled for cottage cheese. Ribs were good not great. Would probably go back

Been here several times over the years. NEVER A GOOD EXPERIENCE. Ever. Captive audience with the lake keeps them in business. BBQ is poor at best. Decor is nice I'll give them that. Last time we were in the waitress seemed to have more socializing to do in the back than refilling or drinks. I won't go back. There's a new guy in town, Big Jims, his food was pretty good. Small shop in an old strip mall. Nice guy. Try that first.

Ribs were okay, definitely fatty beef ribs. Service was okay. ...not amazing! Won't be going back.

Love this place! Everytime we come to indiana beach we eat here the ribs are great as well as the brisket.

Wonderful meal served fast and with a smile! I almost went somewhere else after reading some of these reviews but I'm so glad I came and gave them a chance. I ordered the 3 meat combo ( chicken, ribs, and brisket) and the meat was perfect. If I had to nitpick I'd say the ribs were a touch on the dry side but the awesome bbq sauce took care of that. Brisket was perfect and chicken was juicy. The combo came with two sides. I ordered the mac & cheese (made with penne pasta) and a baked potato which was absolutely perfect. I even ate the skin! I washed it down with a creamy dr. Pepper and was completely satisfied. The staff was attentive and friendly and quick to respond to requests. Really, my experience was a complete 180 degrees from some of these previous reviews. All I can say is to give them a chance and make up your own mind. P.S. I went with the "hot" bbq sauce. It was a great choice - spicy heat, not burning hot. Just perfect for this large meal :)

Was there 4/18/15. Won't ever come here again. We arrived 45 min before they closed which was the first mistake. Thought the place would still be busy for a Saturday night only 4 tables occupied. The food was horrid I got the signature burger can't remember what it's called. The bun was cold the meat tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned in 6 months and the fries were soggy and tasted like really old fry oil. I'm really surprised they rebuilt this place and it's still operating. The food is just as gross as it was before it burnt down. For good food go to Scoreboards across from the Hubbard GM Center. If you want bad food and bad service then keep going to Sublettes and BJ Wingers to get your food poisoning fix

Where the food is good. As I was leaving with my dinner I saw one of the cooks in the back hand picking Onion rings out of the fry basket with no gloves on. I can say I'll never be back.

Disappointed in service. Possibly the worst in Monticello. Bartender needs an attitude adjustment.

Very disappointed. I come for the boneless wings but now they are basically popcorn chicken. They use to be large and tender and now they are small and overcooked. When you make them that small they overcook easy. Definitely not worth 49 cents on their special night and definitely not worth it at regular price. Very sad.

Went into Sublets once at closing time, for a quick cocktail, with my husband. The owner and another employee were also in the bar area "unwinding". Never evn acknowledged our excistance, even though he had worked with us both at the local trailer manufacturer. (I thought that was a bit rude). Also was COMPLETELY dissapointed on one particular mother's day brunch (my first and LAST time). After MUCH bragging from my adult children about how great the food was and the HUGE variety, they RAN OUT of food and were putting whatever they could come up with on the buffet! I will NEVER try to eat there again! The owner seems to have gotten quite full of himself. Well, at least SOMEONE got full. Here's to you, Dan!

Had the Prime Rib was excellent , didn't care for the salad wedge they had. Got the mable bacon on the appetizer menu, don't waste your time. Wasn't that good and got the 1/2lb for $7.99 and you get 3 slices of bacon., that comes out to $2.66 a slice. This is my second time here the first was a glib but this time was actually good, didn't try the barbecue which I had last time and was awful but will come back next time and try it.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE BBQ? Sublette's is among Monticello's best family owned and operated restaurants. They're committed to offering a nice, casual meal at a reasonable cost. If you only have a few days to spend in the Twin Lakes area, make sure to consider putting Sublette's on your short list of places to eat. You'll pig out!

Nice place to eat. Separate bar inside at the back of the building, does have it's own door from the outside too. Nice bar, clean, plenty of TVs, bar seating, table & booths too. Food is good, their hamburgers and tenderloins are very good but they are known for their smoked meats! Onion rings were too greasy and you didn't get very many. The hamburger I got was big and filled me up (several different ones to choose from), probably one of the best hamburgers in town. I would definately go back and most likely sit in the bar!

Sublette's burned to the ground in the summer of 2012. Hopefully they will rebuild and open again, but at the moment the place is closed.

Great food, service and price. Chicken, spare ribs and pulled pork all juicy and delicious. Didn't like the sauces but didn't need them. Good slaw. Grilled corn a great side. Wonderful Texas toast which I usually don't like. My brother liked the fries but I prefer thinner fries although the outside was fairly crunchy. We were too full for dessert but they looked terrific. Rustic family-friendly ambiance that seemed to combine a lodge, antique shop, and taxidermist. My brother said he would drive the 30 miles from Lafayette to eat here again and I agree it was a nice day trip when combined with the Indiana Beach boardwalk.

A booming little business these days - moved to a new snazzy building and is doing well. I actually do not mind eating here - pretty good food. I particularly enjoy their catering services - the pulled pork & bbq meat trays are always a hit. And the service is always fast and friendly.

Great Food. These were the best pork spare ribs I have ever had. I like the dry rub better than there sauce. The atmosphere was very nice. The chicken was good. I wish they served a nice bread before the meal but everything else was perfect.

My neighbors keep insisting on eating here everytime we take them out so I've been here two more times. We came for a holiday, breakfast brunch which was quite good, but I was surprised that it cost $16.00 per person which seemed steep. It's not like there was mimosa, bloody Marys or steak. The most expensive meat was probably roast beef. The owner and his children were actually manning the stations in chefs outfits, the buffet tables were overflowing with food and the place was crowded with people eating and waiting for a table so buffets here are a popular event. I just don't think the buffet was worth $16.00 per person. To help my neighbor out when she was preparing a Thanksgiving feast, we came to pick-up take-out for 10 people. We waited half an hour, and the total was $68.00 which is great for 10 people. I tried the bbq ribs again, and again, I wasn't impressed and don't think the small ribs with more bone than meat was worth $12.00 for a half slab. My neighbors were super happy with their tenderloin sandwiches and baked fish. If you're on a diet, this place has one entree (the baked fish for $12.00) that I would consider diet friendly. I guess it all depends on your taste.

Enjoyed the chx gumbo and good garlic mashed potatoes also....However, the reason this place gets a 2 star is because I have had a better quality of rib meat at a diner before that doesn't "specialize" in ribs. If u are going to incorporate the name of your business after a certain food u had better back it up. Sublettes meat quality did not deliver at all. There was hardly any meat on the bones and the bones were tiny. To add insult to injury a half a slab was 12$! I will go back jst to try something different but I will never get the ribs again unless they change where they get their meat.

Out of brisket! Me and my girlfriend both had our hearts set on it and the dang waitress didnt even bother to let us know. The choppped chicken sandwich was awesome though so I didnt sulk too long. Jacki's pulled pork sandwich was great too. She had the hot bbq sauce which was really just a little peppery and delicious. The potato salad portion could have been a little more generous, but it was in the end plenty as I got to finish jackis and have some of her fries as well as her little sisters breadstick that came with her spaghetti. who orders spaghetti at a bbq restaurant, oh to be young again. Our waitress was really nice (besides the brisket incident) and was patient with us as we werent ready to order numerous times. it was almost 8 and she was not very busy. she messed up with the tea in too many ways to count but was always apologetic and accomodating to fix things.

Clean restaurant if it is summer the patio seating is the way to go. Good bar. Salads are great. The buffalo chicken salad is my fav. They used to have fried pickle slices which were a must have, not sure if those are still being served:( BBQ is decent quality, flavor ok. Owners are super sweet and usually around. Food comes quick and hot. Good combo.
