I have been a fan of HI-HO for over 25 years. My family usually order carry-out and get their pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Never been able to find a fried rice that is as good as they have here and for $8 large size is a deal. And you'll have so much left over because it's packed so full. Another favorite of mine is their Kung Pao chicken. They make it to your taste, spicy or not so spicy. The place is small and cluttered but I've been to many restaurants where the décor is great but food is not.

I had lunch here with friends from work. It is definitely inexpensive. Egg drop soup was pretty good, subgum chicken was ok, egg roll overcooked. Pork fried rice was meh. Average food..place was not the cleanest either. Service was friendly, efficient. I prefer Chens or Ho Ping House.

So one day I wanted Chinese take away, and this was the closest spot!! Very bad experience. Unplowed parking lot(this was in the winter), and I had to wait like 20 minutes for simple General Tso's Chicken. I couldn't believe how long it took to make it, and then how POOR it was!! Chicken cubes wrapped in some breading with general tso sauce...it was just awful. The WORST Chinese I have ever had in my life, it was horrible especially since I waited so long to get my meal!! I am sad to rate so low, but I have to eat elsewhere after that visit.

Egg drop soup was hotter than the hot tea, had to ask for water 3 times, literally had no idea where the waitress was when we were The only people in the place, and when the menu said there was a roll included, the roll never came, had to shout hello to the disappearing waitress, and had to ask for a cookie. Definitely not coming back :((((

I've never been disappointed by Chinese food, until now. I ordered the General tso chicken. It basically tasted like chicken nuggets soaked in sauce. The chicken was so soggy and the flavor was overwhelming. I took two bites and that's all I could bear. The egg drop soup wasn't really a broth base, but instead extremely creamy, which I thought was weird. The fried rice tasted premade and even looks it. The only good part of my order was the egg roll. (How can you really mess that up?) I won't be going back. Yuck.

The food here was horrible - I had the szechuan chicken and it was very bland and didn't have much chicken....my son had the General Tso's and it was also very bland. The pot stickers were great, but my egg rolls were burnt. Never again!

Immediately after eating it: It was ok. I used to live in Phoenix and had a place that I would drive way out of my way to get take out, because it was authentic and amazingly flavor-able. This place was not up to their standard. Most of it was very bland. The egg fu young was good except for the gravy they put on it. It was a light brown gravy that looked like it was out of a can. I've never seen any Chinese sauces look quite like it. The orange chicken was below par. My old place made their own sauce from scratch and you could taste the fresh orange. This was less than Panda Express. I spent a lot of money and it honestly wasn't worth it. I had high hopes, but have to move to the next Following morning I removed 2 stars, because I woke up and had to run to the bathroom where I sat for 30 minutes. The rest of the family had the same problem. Avoid this place, the people who say it's 5 stars are probably family members.

I love HiHo now it ain't the prettiest place but it's the best Chinese in the area. I lovingly call it the best little dirty food I've ever had (they had a couple issues in the past) but they cleaned up their act and it's some good eatin'! One of my must haves when I'm in town

This summer my sister and I ate here, but I missed this Yelp page and ended up making another for the same restaurant. I have repeated my review of this restaurant on this page now. I don't eat out a lot, but my sister and I were in South Bend for a day of shopping, and we were starving. So we stopped at a handy restaurant, Hi Ho Chop Suey. That made my mouth water, so we got the lunch special, chop suey. The chop suey was quite tasty, the egg roll was pretty much what you'd expect, the egg foo young that came with it was fresh and delicious, and the tea was the best! A thoroughly enjoyable meal! We ate, and then ordered more tea and drank it up. Very good oolong tea there. If I were not hungry, I would go there and tip the waitress simply to bring us tea. BUT IT GETS BETTER! Next time we are in South Bend shopping and get hungry, we gotta stop back at Hi Ho for more food and tea. This time they had their Roast Duck and Cantonese Noodle Soup on lunch special. They claimed it was good. THEY WERE RIGHT! BEST SOUP EVER! It is $7.95 when not on special, but worth it! I can't wait for my next shopping trip to South Bend for another taste! The duck is roasted, but then it is batter-fried and cut into slices and put across the top of the soup. Oh my! So good! You cannot loose with this if you love duck. Some people might be put off by the ambiance. It looks like it hasn't been redone in decades. But who cares? Good food and good tea. Love it!

Authentic Cantonese Food. If you are expecting american-chinese food (orange chicken, beef brocoli, etc) then go to Panda Express. This is an authentic chinese restaurant. Food.- excellent flavor, fresh made from scratch, clean, i simple words great! Facilities.- it could use some updating (hence not a 5 star review), old but clean. Price.- OMG! Super affordable. Review: Great Food! I wish we had Cantonese food in Vegas!

I really liked it. The building could probably use some updating, but the food was flavorful, my order was correct and the prices are really good.

The food is almost always very good. Consistency is big with me. The decor and building show their age. They are trying to make some upgrades. Not the first place I think of when I think Chinese, but its a good value.

Tasted like dog food. Orange chicken and general Tso's chicken looked the same. The chicken looked and smelled little marble sized balls of camel droppings. Worst Chinese food I've ever had and I've been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants all over the country. Food tastes like it was freezer burned. Sauces were bland. We ordered a lunch box and without me asking for it upsold us for a dinner box. 2.50 extra. Crab rangoon was good but the inside was orange? Fried rice, egg rolls, and egg drop soup were passable. Last time I eat here. They should be ashamed of themselves

I have been eating Hi-Ho since I can remember. They have THE best chicken chow mein, egg rolls and fried rice. I've been trying to find something comparable to it and have always come up short. I've lived all over the U.S. and have never seen chow mein like their's and it comes with the crispy noodles to top, SOOO good! I know they haven't had the best reputation, but they will always be my favorite!
