Amazing pulled pork (sweet, tender, and well-cooked). The turkey legs are huge and perfect to split between two people! Definitely more tender and flavorful than any other turkey leg I've had at a Carnival or Disney! Mr. Darryl's really cares about it's food and it shows! There is a little wait for the food at the drive thru but it isn't a problem at all! Quick and speedy service and the guy at the window was super cheerful! The location is a little off of the normal path I take into West Lafayette but it SO beats State Street Smokehouse!

Best BBQ in the area BY FAR! Ribs are incredible, as is the pulled pork, baked beans, and fries. Will be going back soon to try more. Get yourself the full order of ribs with sweet bbq sauce. You will NOT be disappointed! Cons: service is a little slow. I would recommend calling ahead if you are in a hurry. I wasn't, and Darryl actually discounted our meal for our troubles. Not a lot of sitting area (a little tent out front with a few plastic tables/chairs) but that's hardly a con. Food seems to run out later in the day but that isn't a huge surprise for a BBQ joint. New hours are actually 11-9 now. Darryl is a really nice guy and he runs a great business. Stop by if you are in the mood for some great BBQ!

This place has relocated to the BP in West Lafayette on the corner of Sagamore Parkway and Yeager. We had the pulled pork sandwich ($5) and small order of rib tips ($8) and they were both extremely moist, tender, and delicious without being greasy. You can get either a sweet or hot BBQ sauce. The spicy sauce wasn't that spicy so don't be afraid to try it. He also has full and half slabs of ribs and chicken. The available sides are beans and cole slaw. I would love to see him add greens and brisket to the menu.

I am not a fan of south street smokehouse and have seen the Mr. Darryl food truck around town many times. Now that they have an actual physical location, I finally got the chance to try it. The 'restaurant', to put it mildy, is a dump. The paint job on the exterior is sloppy, they have random crap taped to their barely working windows. They have a hand drawn lawn sign stating their hours that is stuck in a flower pot out front. The 'dining' area is a crappy outdoor tent filled with chairs that were undoubtedly procured one by one from the flea market across the street. They had what appeared to be garbage bags serving as table covers on the poker tables you could eat at. (There is no indoor dining room at this location) The guys working there were friendly, but the food was just not very good. It was $8 for a pulled pork sandwich and some fries, so I was expecting a flavor explosion. Nope. It was wet pulled pork with some of their sauce on it. Sauce was ok, but the pork itself had very little, if any seasoning and was just wet and heavy. The fries were standard crinkle cuts and were fine, but you don't go to a BBQ place for the fries. I asked if they had cornbread and they said something like 'sometimes. mostly for catering, but not today'" The rear of the building looks like an actual dump. Smokers and vehicles that all look like they've seen better decades. Just looks terrible even for a business that is located within a big parking lot. We also got a couple bratwursts for my kids since they were out of hot dogs. Unfortunately neither would eat them because they inexplicably came with BBQ sauce on them. I would expect you choose your condiments for a brat since it didn't mention including sauce on the menu. The fake cockroach sitting just inside the walk-up ordering window was the grand finale on my experience at this restaurant. They should have stuck with the truck. This place is bad. I will not be going back. But I did find $10 on the ground, so that helped defray the $28 I paid for a mediocre lunch for 3 adults and 2 kids.

I'm not usually one to write reviews, but I was so pleased with this place that I felt like I had to! I went here on a whim today and I'm so glad I did. Typically I go to South Street for BBQ, which is great, don't get me wrong, but I'll definitely be frequenting Mr. Darryl's now that I know of this little hidden gem. The staff is super friendly. The building is small, but definitely has character! I went at 2:30 on a Saturday and waited less than 5 minutes total. Food is delicious and serving size was just perfect. I'll definitely be a repeat customer!

Seriously, I don't care if it's good or not. We wanted to eat. Don't use Hungry Boiler to order from him. An hour after we placed the order, he called to say he didn't have enough chickens (despite them being listed on his delivery menu). Pulled a bait and switch and convinced us to eat Turkey legs instead. Took like 90 minutes for the food to get here. ORDER WRONG! He actually told me to drive down there and pick up the 'right' order. I would never go here again. Update: Food tastes like crap. We took a picture of the turkey leg we threw in the garbage but Yelp won't let me post it here. Oh yeah, and you get three bites of sides for $2. South Street is WAAAY better. Go there.

I'd give 0 stars if possible. He was supposed to cater my college graduation party today and just didn't show up. He tried to claim that no one called him and when he was called on that bull (because there were some very specific details that dawned on him after it was made clear that he was called the prior week), tried to say he could come but would be late. What was the point after that? He was already late, were we supposed to stand there and wait for him to cook it all when we were supposed to already be eating it? Awesome job not showing up today. Very much appreciated. Don't ever use him. Who cares if the food is any good if he doesn't show up with it? Not happy or impressed at all.

I first found Mr. Darryl's BBQ over at the BP in West Lafayette. I missed out on the great food for a while after they relocated, but I found them again over on Sagamore Parkway in Lafayette. The BBQ here really is top-notch. I've been to many BBQ joints in North Carolina and cook BBQ and sauces myself so I'm always looking for the real deal. The portions are extremely generous for the price compared to other joints I've been to, and the people are amazing and friendly. I haven't tried everything on their menu, but the pulled pork, chicken and ribs are all great. The spicy sauce isn't really hot so most people should like it. I would recommend getting there well before closing because sometimes they run out of food early. Overall this is a great place to pick up some real comfort food for lunch.

I ordered from this place for delivery on HungryBoiler.com . Now I think i know my BBQ, and this is not very good BBQ. On top of the bad food, service wasn't good either. Won't be ordering from here again

I bought a voucher from Deal Chicken so I went to their BBQ stand in front of Super Test. First try was on Friday night around 6pm, I saw the truck but no one was there. I was really confused since I could've sworn the hours were Wednesday-Sunday from 11am-7pm. I then called the phone number on the voucher, and was told that Mr.Darryl had a lot of customers that day so everything was sold out. But he did recommend me to call in advance next time so I can get what I want and he could have it ready. Also to make sure he hasn't left for the day. So the next day I called around 11am to order a full slab and asked him if I could pick it up around 2pm. Everything went well! They had it ready, and they were very friendly and pleasant to talk to while I waited for them to finish wrapping it up. The ribs had the perfect texture and flavor with the right amount of meat..... AND I suddenly want some right now just thinking about it. Completely understandable why he had to close early on Friday. I was a little sad at first when my Friday dinner plan failed, but the delicious food and excellent service made up for everything! Definitely going back for some more soon, and to try more varieties. Dying to try the pulled pork and turkey legs especially. Oh and the website says they also have DESSERTS? Not sure if that's only for the catering service, but they all sound amazing. The lesson I learned here was that I probably should call before leaving work to make sure everything hadn't sold out?

This man knows his BBQ. Wicked friendly and makes some of the best ribs and pulled pork in town. Do yourself a favor and stop in for some great food and service.

Had the pulled pork sandwich. It was really moist and flavorful. The best BBQ joint in town.
