Total hole in the wall, Americanized Chinese place. If you go into it knowing that beforehand and that's the kind of Chinese food you want, it is quite good! We ordered the pork lo mein, the sweet and sour chicken, and the beef with broccoli, along with some pork egg rolls. The pork lo mein was excellent. The beef with broccoli was very good. I do wish the sweet and sour chicken had some vegetables in it - we just got a container of chicken with the fried coating and sauce on the side, no veg mixed with the chicken at all. Overall, would happily order again.

I have visited most of the Chinese places in town and in my opinion, this one is the best. It is family run, fast, and friendly. The food is authentic, portions are generous and inexpensive. The crab rangoon are the best I have tasted, I'm always tempted to get a few orders and make those my whole meal. Though, I have tried almost every item on the menu, I have yet to find a dish that wasn't delectable.

Why oh why does this place have so few stars? I'm not sure what people are expecting from a hole in the wall Chinese place in the middle of Indiana. I love me some Lin's Wok. This has been my go-to Chinese joint for over 10 years. I've tried a little bit of everything on the menu, and I'm always pleased. I usually carry out, but they have a comfortable little dining room attached if that's your thing. They also deliver which is great for those late nights when you need your greasy Chinese fix after a few brews. My personal faves are the beef and broccoli, chicken lo mein and sweet and sour pork. All delish, and always very consistent.

Sat at a cozy wooden table in the corner. The high backed chair I sat on had Chinese inscriptions in the leather. The blue and white dishes we ate on were filled with generous amounts of delicious food. My sister had sesame chicken and I had chicken and broccoli, both cooked to perfection. I wish I had ordered more of the heavenly crab ragoons to take home--the best ever. There will be a repeat visit!

I've ordered take-out from Lins a few times, it's really your standard, run of the mill Chinese place. The food is made fast, at a cheap price. The steamed dumplings are my thing, I also enjoy the Chicken Lo Mein. Personally, I've come to seek out higher quality Asian cuisine, that I do not mind paying higher prices for. I know every town doesn't have 'Simply Ming' providing gourmet delicacies for its citizens - but it doesn't mean we should not expect more quality in our food.

I am not a Chinese food expert but i have had Lins Wok about a dozen times and it is the freshest Chinese food around town. Even if you order delivery it will come hot and tasty. Just today I had crab rangoon and szechuan chicken with rice. Everything was very fresh! The rice was cooked perfectly as was the chicken and rangoon. I have never been disappointed with their food.

As I write this I really can't understand how I ate here so many times. It's the closest Chinese restaurant to my house, so inertia I guess. Last night was the final straw. Last night I ordered Happy Family and it tasted like nothing and was loaded with onions. My wife ordered sesame chicken which was described as being served in a 'brown sauce'. What she got was General Tso with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. I tried hot and sour soup for the first time here and it was bland and somewhat gross. The 'pork' egg roll has no meat in it and tastes like the fryer oil is three months old. It was by far the worst meal we've gotten. I've ordered things occasionally for three years now. I keep the menu in a drawer and since there is no standardization among Chinese restaurants on anything other than General Tao/Tsao/Chao (but even its name isn't standardized!) I write down what I thought of each item I ordered. Let's go back in time and summarize everything on my menu to date: Pork Egg Roll - "More like Cabbage roll" Egg Drop Soup - "Bland" General Tso - "ok, but sweet" Shrimp fried rice - "good enough" chicken lo mein - "not great" moo shu chicken - "really good" moo shoo pork - "good" fresh shrimp with lobster sauce - "ok" I forgot to rate some meals, but my God, how did I keep going here? Other than moo shoo they are clueless. The place is a dump, the dining room seats about eight people, the people seem to resent being there, the prices are high. I would suggest going somewhere else, or just going nowhere.

Used to be good. Prices creeping up, quality slipping. To top it all off, you get the rudest treatment at checkout I've ever experienced. Girl needs some serious education in customer service. Starting my search for alternatives.

I'd say the take out I had last night was above average. I went and ordered in person. The place was clean, if not "well decorated." I waited there for my take out order and it was ready within 10 minutes. The vegetable egg rolls did appear to contain only cabbage, but were hot and fresh. The kung po chicken was flavorful and the chicken was tender. The sauce was just the right amount of "hot" but also a bit on the too-sweet side. I added some more soy sauce at home and it was fine. I'd order from there again but mainly because it's super-close to my house. Haven't had a lot of other Chinese food in Lafayette to compare it to. My dinner was about $12.

I have eaten here twice. The first time was great, no complaints at all. I called in my order, walked in 10 min later and out again a few seconds after that. the food was bland, but at least I knew what I was eating. The second Time I got General Gau's Chicken. WHAT A MISTAKE. Every single piece was either half grizzle or the meat was a color I never saw before in a piece of chicken. I assume they used the cheapest cuts of "chicken" they could find, fried them, and covered them in a sub-par sauce.

I could have swore this place was on Yelp before but there are no reviews now. Do not let this be a factor turning you away from Lins Wok. I was disheartened when I moved here and tried what I thought to be a good portion of the Chinese food here... it was all pretty terrible. *Enter Lin's Wok* Lin's is great as they have the traditional authentic dishes as well as more of the American classics. Ive ate here so many times that I cant really remember everything ive ordered. I will just give a few highlights. Crab Rangoon--- without a doubt the best in the city and some of the better ive had in my life. Get this with your meal everytime Hot and Sour Soup- This soup is usually hit or miss for me at places. Lin is a pretty good hit for me. They have a nice blend of spice to sourness and it comes out tasting very good. General's Chicken- this is actually a very good rendition of this dish, not much more to say on it. Spring Rolls- Very tasty. Peking Chicken- It is kinda meh, I wouldnt get it again. Spicy Meegoreng- Although this is more of an indo-chinese dish, they still serve it and I am so glad they do. It has such a rich spice and curry flavor, I love it, although I do wish it was Nagoreng rather than Meegoreng. Anyways, that is all I feel like writing. Check it out.

Returning to this place 5 years later was a Deja Vu experience. Great food and fast service all for a good deal. I used to visit this establishment for lunch during my "good years" at PU. What an experience to return here. Not the best place for a first date, but a nice place to grab a quick bite alone or with the fam. Highly recommended.

Are you kidding me??? We were not impressed at all about the mother yelling at her daughter while she is taking our order. Our food was cooked so hastily so the cook can sit together with his family for their dinner. The soy sauce chicken we ordered was smothered with so much soy sauce, it was so salty. They even charge us for tea, most Chinese establishments do not charge tea. We left hastily without leaving a tip!

Run of the mill for American-Chinese takeout. They have a huge variety of dishes including General Tso's (for all you white people) but plenty of Szechuan classics.. Keep in mind this review is going strictly off of their lunch special. The dining room is way too poorly lit and the only diners I've ever seen there look to be on their deathbeds. When I go for cheap Chinese takeout, I go for quantity over quality. The expectation is that there should be enough food to last for two meals if you don't get greedy. Which is what surprised me about this place. While the food is fairly decent (minus the sauerkraut eggroll), it's about half the portion of every other Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. Which brings me to the eggroll. Not sure what the deal is with it, but I'm 90% sure it's sauerkraut beneath that deep fried crispy cover. Go for the soup instead. Helps wash all the oil out of your throat.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
