This is by far and away the best Chinese buffet in Lafayette. The rangoons are the best I've had anywhere. They have a dish called Hong Kong chicken that I've never seen before and is not to be missed. They also have delicious fried dumplings and rice noodles. They also have a large sushi area and a Mongolian grill. The service is always excellent and the price is very reasonable. I've never had a bad experience here and I go about twice a month with coworkers for lunch.

Great food with an excellent array of choices. There's a sushi buffet, including vegetarian items, a Chinese buffet, full of such delicious items as bacon wrapped crab and custard buns, plus a Mongolian barbecue/hibachi similar to that of HuHot. All that, and they have a dessert buffet, with fresh fruit, pastries, and ice cream. The interior is nice and large, the seats comfortable, and the service is very fast and polite. I would definitely go again.

The place could be so much better. The problem with this place is that because it offers buffet options, the ingredients are not very fresh and the quality of the food is bad. Noodles are stringy and cold. Sushi was decent but had more vegetables than fish meat. Sauces used for different dishes taste the same meaning they use the same sauce for numerous dishes. The decor is the only saving grace.

Walking into this restaurant was like stumbling into an oasis in the middle of the desert. I had no idea it existed until a few friends told us about it and how it rivals Legendary Buffet's endless sushi. It definitely topped it. There were so many sushi rolls to choose from and I filled my plate two or three times. Specifically, the Dynamite roll, which is something to seek out. All of the sushi was wonderful and there was a huge variety. On top of the sushi, there is a large buffet of Chinese foods, including a Mongolian grill that cooks stir fry made up of your own chosen ingredients. The stuffed mushrooms, honey chicken, cheesy wontons, hot and sour soup, and countless other foodstuffs were available for consumption. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was good, and the restaurant itself was extremely nice inside. To put the cherry on top of the Chinese food cake, the lunch buffet was only $6.25. Who can beat that?

About what you would expect for a chinese buffet in Indiana. Decent selection of dishes from sushi to chinese and I think I saw a mongolian stir fry though I was too impatient to check that out. Came here for the all-you-can-eat sushi though that left me more than a little unsatisfied. Rolls were poorly packed and the rice was undercooked in a few pieces. Some of the more traditional dishes like steamed salmon had been sitting out for a while and was pretty dried out by the time I arrived. Other review is completely right about how oily just about everything is. But considering the appalling alternatives and the fact that this place has sushi as well, it's sad to say but I'll probably frequent this establishment again.

It's okay. Decent buffet, but if you are in the mood for buffet in same price range, I would suggest Teppanyaki, same selection as fortune house and more. But otherwise it is decent buffet any terrible experiences, always left with a full stomach.

so happy they were opened on thanksgiving! the endless sushi definitely made my day. the food was kept fresh and the service was welcoming. I plan on coming back again. wish they served crabs and tomato (for salad).

This is a buffet and I think it's really cheap. For $8 all you can eat, if you are really hungry this is a place to go to, if you want something cheap. That being said, food provided here are below average. There are variety of food here such as Chinese food, Soups, sushi, and desserts. I recommend not getting sushi. Overall, this place is only good if you are broke and still trying to get full, but not good if you are trying to dine for fancy or decent meal.

Food was ok. Not a big selection of chinese dishes for a chinese buffet, but plenty of choices and especially choices for kids. Friendly staff and the Price was low. We had 7 adults and a child and we all ate for under $60 plus tip

I went here in the last week of December. Since less people are in town during this time, the buffet items were very rarely refilled. The grill area was closed. Not many sushis were there. The food tasted chewy and definitely felt stale. They still charged us the usual amount for the buffet. I am completely dissatisfied with their service.

I wish this place existed when I was in school. How is it that Chinese buffets have gotten cheaper after 8 years?! $6.25 lunch buffet (Saturday included) and there are coupons to knock $1 off of the already awesome price. That's less than a value meal at McDonald's where I live now. It's buffet food so nothing is going to blow you away, but the food was all very edible. Sushi was pretty fresh, there's a good variety of fried items, and the American-Chinese dishes (General Tso's, etc.) were tasty. Service is also prompt -- our dishes were cleared away very quickly after we finished with each plate.

This place has the most tasteless Asian food ever. Service is decent but food is very bland.

We were visiting Lafayette for a swim meet at Purdue's Aquatic Center, and looking to feed 2 hungry swimmers. Buffets are generally a good bet for hungry kids, usually adequate food, large amounts, for decent price. This was a little different--the food selection was excellent, with dishes you rarely see (braised pigs feet, clams, both small, in black bean sauce, and very large ones (have no idea what the different types are), crawfish) in addition to all the usual choices. Sushi bar was extensive, freshly made (in front of us, as we watched). Food quality was also better than usual. Price was about average, $10 for dinner. Signs on the door said 1 lb of crab legs was available for $5.99, lobster for $6.99, which we didn't take. Definitely a repeat if we go to Purdue again.

A friend of mine told me about Fortune House a while back, and I had been wanting to try it for quite a while. I am usually very skeptical about Asian buffets. Generally, to me I find that they produce large quantities of low quality food. That said, I enjoyed the hell out of Fortune House. Here's the lowdown. They have: -A hibachi grill (like HuHot a little smaller but still delicious) -A sushi bar with at least 15 different rolls being made fresh all the time. -Three large buffet tables with a ton of items. -A desert bar. Everything was really good; I especially enjoyed the fresh rolled sushi. I didn't have room to try the hibachi grill, but my friend did and it looked delicious. There were a few items that I wasn't crazy about, but overall the quality was great. I was blown away by the amount of seafood available on this buffet. There were huge fillets of roasted salmon, steamed mussles, shrimp, crab. and tons of seafood sushi rolls. Here's the real kicker. All of these things and hot tea were included for $5.95 for lunch Monday-Saturday. Fortune house is some of the best Chinese I've had in the area, and I will definitely be back.

Best Chinese buffet in the Lafayette area without a doubt. In fact maybe the best Chinese buffet I've been to. Overall the regular buffet selection is standard to what you would find at most Chinese buffets. However it just seems to be one level up in terms of quality and taste. Plus there is a make your own stir fry area which is a must try. There is also a small sushi selection as well. Super clean and nice looking dining area with tons of space for large parties. And to top it all off, it is super cheap if you go for lunch.

Pretty decent Chinese buffet - as good as any I've been before. Good array of food. Had pigs ear and other food not often found at other buffets. Not a large fresh seafood selection.

Many of my friends work here and the atmosphere is very inviting. And they have LOBSTAAAARS on weekend nights under $10. What else are you asking for?

Been here a lot of times with my family for brunch and for a friend's private birthday bash .Food is great for the price and good for kids too even if you have a picky eater. If you're planning to have a birthday celebration here in their private room, maybe it's good to bring an extra fan yourself because on both parties we attended, it was way too hot! time to fix the AC guys!

First off, this is the cleanest buffett I have ever seen. The food is good, including the sushi (which is made fresh in front of you). Which, yes, it isn't gourmet but hey it's a buffet. The only complaint I have is that it takes forever to get refills on your drinks.

Absolutely a must stop for lunch or dinner. With three hot buffets, a Mongolian grill, a sushi bar, and dessert bar, you don't leave here hungry. I see food on the buffet that I don't see anywhere else. I'm not a big sushi fan but I eat the sushi here and it's OK with me. I haven't tried the Mongolian grill yet, but one day I just might. The price is very reasonable. We went on St. Valentine's Day and spent $8.95 each for as much as we could eat. With drinks we spent less than $25 for two. The only complaint is that the iced tea tasted weird. We couldn't define it, it's just weird. So order water or soda instead. The decor is very well done without going overboard.

I was in town for my son football game. We were looking for a place to eat between game. Since we didn't know much about west Lafayette we just found this place where it was close. The food was old and dry. It seem like the food was sitting in the hot window for to long. Some of the dish like the pigs ears you can still smell it like they didn't clean it good enough. Would not go back to this place if I'm in this town again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
