Had dinner here on 6/22 with 2 other people. First, this place needs some serious updating on the inside. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and it's very clean but it is also very dated. I kept expecting Gordon Gecko to come in and order steak tartare ;) The majority of the food was outstanding. All of us had the prix fixe menu with different combinations. The wedge salad, shrimp cocktail and calamari were all delicious (husband said cocktail sauce could've been a bit stronger but he says that everywhere we go). The shrimp/lobster bisque was not that great - too much cream. All of our steaks - 6oz filet, 12oz filet and 8oz sliced strip - were fantastic and prepared perfectly as were the horseradish garlic mashed potatoes. We also split the Mac and cheese and it was awesome. My husband also wanted me to Include that they serve Lavasso coffee which is his fave. The issue for us was the service - our server was very nice and knowledgable about the menu but not attentive. We had to flag him down 3 times for drink refills and then he bright the wrong ones. He also didn't check with us after the food came so it was 15 minutes until we could get steak sauce. We were sitting next to a table of 5-6 ppl who had a different server than us and that guy kept bumping our table and one person's chair through out the meal and even sloshed water on us. This kind of service when you're paying for a nice meal kind of ruins the experience. We will go back to Sullivan's because we've been going there for years and their food is consistently good, but I hope they get the service issues situated and that this was an isolated evening.

Had the seared ahi tuna. Sauce surrounding plate was some sort of wasabi peanut sauce, it had a bite but was awesome. Kale salad was delicious. Banana bread pudding was delicious, don't normally eat banana bread pudding but it's consistency was agreeable and enjoyable. Wait staff was attentive and quick with the drink refills. Would definitely come back. Must visit if in Carmel.

Came to Sullivan's after attempting to go to another place first. Glad that we were able to get a table on Mothers day at the last minute. Upon arrival we were seated promptly and the service was excellent. The food was very good although I thought the shared sides were a bit on the small side. My youngest daughter ordered the hamburger and it came out wrong. They added cheese when she said no cheese and they didn't bring any fries either. They quickly fixed that and she was happy. The steaks for the rest of us were cooked perfectly. The only other thing was a minor mix up on the drink I ordered. I ordered a Tennessee Mule but they brought me a Russian Mule. It actually was a pretty good drink so the mess up wasn't really a big deal. Overall, a great experience and will certainly come back.

Oh Sullivan's. I love your Happy Hour. I love your Mad Man-esque vibe, but oh how you disappointed me during my most recent visit during Northside Nights. My friends and I, including fellow Yelper Lisa S. look forward to Northside Nights every year. This year we decided to check out Sullivan's. $35 seemed like an incredible deal. We arrived on a Sunday evening. They were pretty busy. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait a few minutes, which was no big deal. The hostess was really nice. Once we arrived at our table, they were still in the process of cleaning it. Um, ok. I found a dirty napkin near seat. The staff took it and apologized. Again, no big deal. Our waitress eventually came over. She seemed nice, but slightly frazzled. She greeted us and asked for our drink order. We said we would take water for now and needed more time. She took our wine glasses and left. Not sure why she did that because we ordered wine. Go figure. We all ordered a glass of Riesling. The wine was just ok. Unfortunately, my friends glass was dirty. For my three courses, I ordered the wedge salad, dry aged Filet Mignon, and for dessert the bread pudding. The wedge salad was so simple, yet so delicious. My filet was cooked perfectly, but no traces of the Gorgonzola garlic butter I paid the $2 up charge for. The side of green beans was good. Unfortunately, my friend was charged an additional $5 for substituting her side of green beans for asparagus. She only received three spears. Wow! What a shame. She could have purchased three bunches of asparagus up the street at Fresh Thyme for that price. We were all excited about the dessert course. We saw everyone receive there beautiful plated slices of bread pudding topped with ice cream and caramel drizzle. Yay! Strike 1 - The waitress informed us that they were out of ice cream. Bummer! We said ok. The waitress said she would put extra whipped cream and caramel sauce. Strike 2 - The waitress came back to tell is that not only are they out of ice cream, but bread pudding as well. Whaatttt? Reluctantly, I ordered the cheesecake. The waitress surprised us by bringing out some random pieces of bread pudding she found. Strike 3 - Although I totally appreciate the waitresses efforts because it wasn't fully her fault, but we received hard edge pieces. Why foodie gods, why?! Needless to say when I received my check for $58 I was not pleased. I have no issue paying for a quality meal, but this experience was just not worth it. We were also not informed that the brand of Riesling we received was $2 more than the listed price. Ugh! Such a disappointment. I guess I will just stick to Happy Hour.

Sullivan's is a must for a great steak! Everything is top notch - service, attentiveness, cleanliness, and ambience. My mom and I were there to celebrate a special occasion and they were really great. Took our picture and gave us a dessert to share for free. The server was great in explaining the menu items and gave us suggestions. The overall feel was wonderful, we really felt like we were treating ourselves. We got lucky on a Saturday night not needing a reservation, but we called ahead to be sure and we were there around 6 which is still a bit early. It's usually packed in the evenings, so be aware. This is a great choice to have near the Fashion Mall and it's worth every penny :)

Very low quality rib eye steak if its rib eye at all. Fat and chewy everywhere. Very disappointed. I really had high hopes for this place based on my wife's comments since she has been here before and said she liked it.

Had the ahi tuna for appetizer and the rib eye for my main course. I have to say this is one of the best steaks I've had!

Went there for thanksgiving dinner. Quick summary: Service: 5 Ambience: 3 (too loud) Food: 4 I ordered the turkey dinner for $39. It came with a starter, turkey with dressing, choice of two sides and a desert. My starter was iceberg wedge salad. It was good but not great. I have had better, Flemings for example has one which is better. The turkey was exceptionally tasty and was soft, juicy and succulent. It was not drenched but drizzled with gravy. The dressing was tasty. For sides I ordered horseradish mashed potato and green beans. For desert I ordered creme brûlée. Wine pairing was Pinot noir. The portion size was very big and I got two meals out of it really. The creme brûlée was very good and just had the right amount of sweetness. However if i go back I would try the pumpkin cheesecake next time. Given this was their first thanksgiving dinner they did a great job. They called multiple times to confirm that we were indeed coming. Better safe than sorry.

Seems like whenever the wife and I get out for our anniversary we head to Sullivan's. We really just enjoy the food and service and we never feel rushed to finish our courses so they can wheel in the next group of guests. We can take our time and have adult conversation and some beverages. Our most recent visit was the quality you would expect...attentive servers, great food. Always a real cross section of Indianapolis there as well. Swore Reggie Wayne was at the table one over from us. We really enjoy coming here on special occasions and the cost reflects that.

The third star here is for the salmon...it was quite good. The service was slow and I was overcharged for a glass of wine that was served to me in a visibly dirty glass. We were told they ran out of the dessert we requested only to be given the hard corner of the dish it was prepared in. Prices too high for the service and 3 stalks of asparagus.

To add to the disappointment of this experience, the restaurant reached out to me because of this review and promised to make it up to me. They said I would get something in the mail and that was over two months ago... Good thing their are a lot of other great steakhouses in Indianapolis.

We headed here last night because Sullivan's was participating in Northside Nights for a discounted prix fixe meal. Great opportunity to check out a nice establishment. Overall, I was disappointed in the meal. The food was okay and the service was okay, but you don't go to Sullivan's for OK. The lobster bisque was fantastic, as was the braised short ribs. The ceasar salad, the NY strip and the desserts were just blah though. They weren't bad, but they didn't have the feel of a high end restaurant. There was nothing wrong with the service - they were very cordial - but the service just seemed so rote. They met all our needs, but it felt like they didn't really want to be there. Or maybe they just didn't want to serve us, but it felt like a chore to take care of us. So the takeaway is that it's a good restaurant, but our experience was that it was a generic expensive experience. The atmosphere justified the prices, but the service and the taste did not. I guess I'm just disappointed at the experience. It's like going on a blind date with a very attractive person. The girl/guy is predictably good-looking, but they're on their phone all night and the conversation seems more like eating with your sibling than being on a date. Not bad, just blah.

We tried Sullivan's for Northside Nights. Dinner was ok, but not the experience I hoped for. I was hoping for a nice romantic dinner. Instead, the service crossed over from attentive to annoying. Like -- go away and let us eat -- annoying. The steak was really phenomenal, as was the Philly eggroll appetizer. Everything else was nothing special. The green beans were barely seasoned and too crunchy even for haricot verts. I love me a tart key lime pie, but this one was too tart even for me. For the price and the service, we probably won't be back.

Sullivan's has been on our list for a long time, and my husband and I finally made a reservation for New Year's Eve. They were running a prix fixe menu for New Year's at $99 per person, and I have to say the food was pretty wonderful. We started with a fried calamari appetizer with some kind of sweet chile glaze, and although the glaze was a little on the sweet side, we still ate the whole thing and it was easily the best preparation of calamari I've ever had--not rubbery or greasy. Next came the salad/soup course--I chose a Caesar salad and my husband had the lobster bisque. The salad was great, on par with all the other steakhouse offerings I've had (shouldn't they all have a great Caesar salad, after all?), and my husband ranked the lobster bisque #2 on his always-evolving top five lobster bisques list (his current favorite is Peterson's). For entrees, I had salmon, which was cooked perfectly in a lemon butter sauce, and my husband had the filet, which he said was very good. After sampling my killer salmon, though, he did admit that he wished he had ordered that instead. We had horseradish mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms as sides, and while they were both delicious, of course at this point we were getting absolutely stuffed and had to start prioritizing the main courses. We ended up taking most of the sides home, and they reheated well. For dessert we both chose cheesecake with raspberry topping, which we took home in boxes and ate later that night. They were rather huge slices--we easily could have split one (although we didn't--come on, now), and quite tasty. Smooth and creamy and not too sweet. I'd order that again for sure. The ambience was pretty nice for NYE. We went to Ocean Prime last year and were crammed into a tiny table elbow-to-elbow with other parties, but at Sullivan's we had enough space to have a conversation and not feel like we were being listened to by our neighbors. I would hope that on any other night there would be even more space between tables, but other reviewers would have to speak to that. Service was prompt and not too bothersome, particularly because we had four or five staff members rotating our service, so no one had the opportunity to become overbearing. I also have to give our main server and the bartender props for coming up with a lovely raspberry basil lemonade virgin cocktail for me (6 months pregnant), which was a nice bonus. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and will be back.

I have fond memories of the Sullivan's chain from my college days in Austin, Texas. As I recall, it had a great location, great food, and an upscale/eclectic vibe. However, I think the Indianapolis Sullivan's is a victim of its location. As for as steakhouses go, it's still pretty darn good. Attentive service and a classy (perhaps on the wrong side of stuffy) atmosphere. Steaks seared properly with internal temperatures close to perfect (kudos to the executive chef for training the line chefs on proper temperatures - a lost art nowadays). The problem here though is that there are at least 4 other steakhouses within a 5-minute drive that are just as delicious (or more so) and have more lively settings. If you dropped this restaurant in Avon or Greenwood, you would never be able to get a table because the line would wrap around the parking lot. But in the rarified air that I like to call The Meat Mile (86th St/96th St. east of Keystone), it gets lost in the crowd.

I went Saturday evening with a group of friend's to celebrate March birthdays. There were 12 of us and we were seated as a partial party right on time and I appreciated that they allowed our friends to trickle in. They were able to split the bill without issue for each couple and overall, the service was IMPECCABLE. We had a "service team" which seemed to keep water glasses full, order taking flow and food delivery seamless. Very impressive....and I'm hard to please. I ordered off the $39 menu which had some great options. I got the calamari which was a heaping pile of fabulous breaded seafood with a Thai-sweet twist. It was too much for me and I shared a few bites with other satisfied friends! Out came the Caesar salad next. Good but nothing I would write home about. A good "middle" course. I received my medium perfectly cooked filet (6 ounces) Oscar style next with a large portion of mashed potatoes which were DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE - VINE. Like....I never eat carbs and I could have drown myself in their garlicky goodness. Loved the Hollandaise sauce. I thought my asparagus were good but needed "something" ...maybe a bit more seasoning or butter. Pretty bland. I went for it all the way to dessert and landed on the creme brulee. NOT a mistake. I also tapped in birthday girl's apple crisp with ice cream and HELLO - equally fab. The only thing that makes them lose the star is that the entertainment really was....bad. It was a live musician singing and playing in the bar area which a couple of us took to after our meal....and the song choices and singing were a bit off. Our bartender was also not friendly - more sarcastic and thought he was too funny for his job. It was a bit of an "eyeroll" factor if you get my drift in the bar. I have lived in Indy for nearly 12 years and never tried Sullivan's. It is definitely the PERFECT group dinner spot with their top notch services and affordable menu options. I would also recommend for a girls' night out, celebration or 2nd/3rd/4th date. What a great way to have a great meal, good wine, fun conversation and take it to the next level! TIPS: --Valet! We had to park quite a distance away! it's free, so why not? --Order off the $39 options for best overall value --Make a reservation; otherwise, I think it's quite a wait.

Came here again this evening...didn't realize it had been a year! Another Cocktails and Conversation with Abdul...but he is no longer on WXNT (their loss!) in the morning. Met some friends here, shared a bottle of wine with a friend, and a cigar with another friend :-) This place is very accommodating. The appetizers were great. The Malbec was great.

Large parties are difficult for any restaurant. Unless it's a catering hall, the restaurant typically has limited resources to devote to parties. They require larger staffing considerations. Accomodating a group may be difficult due to space restrictions. And then, there are the people in the party. Combining this with my continuing quest to find the perfect steak in Indy seems like a no brainer. If I can trust a restaurant to deliver in the most dificult situation, I can trust them when it's just me at the bar. Did Sullivan's deliver? I will confess, I have had better steak. I haven't had that many better in Indy though. But the service? When a party of thirty shows up half late, keeps changing seats, can't seem to make up their mind, changes orders, orders late, and in general would be complete chaos at any other restaurant, yet is handled smoothly and flawlessly, I can say that the restaurant has earned it's five stars.

Good steak, average service, not a whole lot else. You go to a steakhouse and expect a great steak. Sullivan's definitely did not disappoint in that regard - my 22 oz. ribeye was delicious and cooked to perfection. But that's where my praise ends... The service was just ok. I had to ask two separate times for our party's water glasses to be refilled, which is something I shouldn't have to do when I'm at a nicer restaurant. Also, when my group had left the table and were standing by the front door saying our goodbyes, our waitress pushed past us to rush out the door with another member of the wait staff. Who knows, maybe her shift had ended and she was waiting on us to leave. Well call me an old-fashioned 28 yr old but it was very rude. It was like she had finally collected her tip and couldn't wait to get out of there. And finally while the steak was very very good, when you pay $44 for a steak it would be nice to get something on your plate other than a slab of meat. I sat there chewing on the ice cubes in my empty glass of water waiting for my steak and then it arrived all lonely on its plate. A small side salad? Some vegetables? I understand that not every restaurant is as low brow as Applebee's (just using it as an example people, relax, I know it's the lowest common denominator) and offers your choice of two sides with every entrée... but for what I spent it'd have been nice to get a cup of soup or something while I waited on my main course, or maybe a small portion of asparagus to pair with my steak. Whatever, I know what you're thinking: it's my fault for not paying the extra $4 for a ceaser salad, right? Overall, I wasn't too impressed and in an expansive category like steakhouses there are many others I'd choose to go back to before returning to Sullivan's.

I like Sullivan's. It's 100% steak place even down to the bulldog ashtrays - which they sell bytheway. The bar is well separated from the dining room and is dark and chic (did I really just use the word "chic"?). Anyway, my steak was perfectly prepared, as usual The service is good. The only slightly off putting aspect of Sullivan's is the volume of people fit into the dining area - its impressive but diminishes intimacy a bit.

Someone needs to roll me out of this establishment. I ate and drank too much. It was so good! Absolutely worth the expense. I wish that they had a Sullivan's in Northern Virginia. The steak was to die for and I loved the Soufflé. Love love love this place.

Sullivan's was absolutely amazing for my engagement dinner. I had an issue with my previous arrangements and the week before Michelle squeeze me into a private room! The date was set as it was my girlfriend's birthday and I was proposing. Not only did they make room for us but we had the most amazing service. I would recommend Sullivan's for any of your fine dining needs!

Worst experience ever!! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone!! party of 10, we came in with an existing reservation at 7:15 pm. We were shuffled into an extremely cramped and very noisy dining area. I had to say excuse me to the table behind us just so we could pull our chairs out and on the other side of the table where members of my family sat was a walkway for the several servers, food runners, and bus boys. Over 10 times that side of the table complained about being bumped into, and one server even sighed heavily and asked us to 'squeeze in' so they could walk by with dishes. We placed our order and waited... waited for drinks, waited for bread, waited for appetizers that were cold when served, salads with wilted lettuce and FINALLY at 9:26pm we received our food - 2 hours and 11 minutes after arriving! Inexcusable!! Oh wait - it gets worse... the scallops were not cooked thoroughly, to the point they were barely able to be cut with a steak knife. My rare steak was medium, my brothers rare steak was well done. My sister ordered ahi tuna and received a small appetizer portion rather than entree sized. Our mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts came out several minutes after the food. Once we finished eating the mediocre mess that had been served to us, we had to ask for the bill - more than once. We told the server we were not pleased and was told a manager would be over but instead a server arrived and set down desert plates. We declined, asking for the bill a third time. The server scurried to the back and within two minutes arrived again this time followed by another server with a huge desert sampler. They advised they wanted to 'thank us for coming in and add a dash of sweetness to our meal' - at this point we had reached the 3 hour mark and again declined desert as we were just ready to escape this zoo of a restaurant. We then asked for the bill a fourth time!! The manager then arrived and spoke with the head of our table who expressed our poor experience. His resolution? Offer everyone $25 gift cards toward a future visit! Are you kidding me, I would never want to return so how is a gift card worth 1/2 the cost of an entree appealing? I stated this to my sister sitting next to me and apparently the manager overheard me because we he returned with the check he had removed $25 per person off the bill rather than offering coupons for the future as originally stated. We left the restaurant at 10:38 pm - 3 hours 23 minutes of my life I'll never get back. There are other better and cheaper steakhouses in the area. Perhaps if you went with 2 or 4 people they could accommodate you in a timely fashion but our experience was downright awful.

Best blue cheese dressing that I can imagine. Excellent service. Very good to outstanding steaks. Hottest horseradish that I've ever been served in a restaurant. Very good Brussels! Love those mashed potatoes. A keeper go-to steakhouse!

A recent visit on a busy Saturday night has restored my faith in Sullivan's. After a few disappointing visits, we had taken a long break from one of our former favorites. I'm glad we went back. Though the restaurant was very crowded we were seated within a few minutes of the time of our reservation. Our server was not immediately available but an attentive manager noticed this and quickly took our drink orders. The cocktails were well made and generous in size. After a very good appetizer of Stone Crab Claws, I ordered the dry aged NY Strip medium rare. It was perfectly cooked and was possibly one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. My wife ordered the seared Ahi Tuna Steak but was a bit disappointed with the preparation and presentation. It was good fish and there was plenty of it but it seemed to her to be more like an appetizer than a dinner. It seemed like it was seared and refrigerated earlier, and sliced and delivered straight from the refrigerator. Not what she expected. Side of creamed spinach was very good. Overall, a much improved experience compared to our last visit.

Had a 7:45pm reservation and we were not seated at our table until 8:20pm. We were not greeted by our waitress or given a menu until we had been sitting there for 15 minutes. Food was delicious but service was very poor.

OK, talking steaks certainly elicits emotion from most, and we know there are a lot of places to go. For me, nothing is better than Sullivan's. The food, is outstanding. Steak, seafood, whatever. All done right, they way you like too. Their sides...out of this world! If that were not enough, the service is outstanding. Friendly, happy people doing what they enjoy. The atmosphere is perfect for a night our with your significant other, or business associate. I usually let them pick what I should eat....they have yet to get it wrong. Great place, terrific people. Expensive if you get drinks too, but we have gone the water and tea route, and come away with a steal. Hard to do since their drinks rock!! Has also hosted our Christmas party, and could not be happier.

I gave it three stars for taste but it is not the old Sullivan's . The food was good but not great. The portions have decreased considerably while the plates have gotten large. Maybe new ownership is looking to change a classic. Kinda like they did with coke and see how it turned out.

Service was great, although we went pretty late on Monday night, however our steaks were dry and lacked flavor, even though they were not over cooked. Was disappointing as we have been there before and we had consistently had great experiences.

I have to say one of the best meals I have ever had. My husband took me her for our anniversary. I had the ceaser salad, dry aged strip. He had the filet. We split the baked potato and asparagus. It was all fantastic. We both had our steaks medium and they were cooked perfectly. We received a complimentary dessert and picked the smore's pie. Had I not ate every bite of everything I had ordered, I may have went for a second piece. It is pricey, but I think for big occasions this is a great place to go.

I went to Sullivan's tonight for the first time and thought it was "yelp worthy". I don't travel frequently, but recently have been traveling to the Indy area for work. I really wanted a steak tonight and went to Sullivan's based on reviews and wasn't disappointed. I sat at the bar tonight and was immediately impressed with the unobtrusive yet attentive bar staff. They made great drink/food suggestions and didn't make me feel uncomfortable for just ordering a steak. Also noteworthy is that I'm a bit of a steak-snob. I don't like any butter or sauce; salt and pepper is more than enough. The staff was completely understanding and never made me feel like i was the outcast customer. In short, the food itself was fantastic. I ended up ordering a wedge salad and the big filet, both were very well executed. I HATE burned steaks, this was one of the best steaks I've had in a couple years. Overall, I don't write strong suggestions on eateries, but Sullivan's was worth writing about.

While the food was good, I don't think there was $75 worth of value here. I greatly enjoyed my martini and cheesesteak egg roll appetizer. The wedge salad was also excellent. I explained I like my ribeyes with a good char, which was a special request. My steak arrived that way, although the prep was very close to medium when I was told to expect a bright pink inside. The cowboy ribeye was well seasoned, although it was quite thick and less marbled than any ribeye I've ever eaten. Had I received a sirloin instead? My sides were green beans and delicious mashed potato. I ordered from the fixed price menu with an up charge for the ribeye.

First time here and I was quite pleased with everything. Kicked off meal with a bottle of wine and complimentary warm crusty demi baguette. We then started with and shared shrimp cocktail and ahi tuna. Nice bite to the cocktail sauce but not too much. Tuna was perfectly seared and served with a very hot mustard sauce which could easily over power the fresh rare tuna. A little dab goes a long way. Entrée consisted of a special off menu filet with three 4oz medallions, each topped differently. One is served Oscar style, another is topped with blue cheese, and I can't even remember the third. Point being, I should have just ordered a well seasoned, full size filet without a topping that in my opinion is just a gimmick. We shared three cheese mac side, which was delicious but dry. Also, shared shaved Brussels sprouts with onion and bacon which were fantastic. If you aren't a fan and are willing to give them another try, this is the way to go. Service was excellent and we were able to dictate when we were ready for dishes to arrive.

Extremely accommodating... We changed from 4 to 8 people just fours before our reservation. You can dine or simply socialize in the large bar area where they offer a generous selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The restaurant was extremely busy, but neither our service or food quality suffered. The staff allowed us to control the tempo... To socialize and enjoy our evening without pushing us through each course, and out the door. Our server was friendly, attentive and provided very good service. The food was served hot, with a good presentation and was simply delicious. I recommend Sullivan's to all my family, friends and enemy's.

All around great experience at Sullivan's. It's obviously a popular spot with the business crowd, so it may be busier than you would expect on a weeknight, which was the case with us. Still no problem getting a table and we used OpenTable just to be sure! The service was top notch all night. Our wine glasses were never below 1/4 full, food came out promptly and was removed just as swiftly. I genuinely enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered, which included the Shanghai Calamari, filet (oscar style, my new norm :) ), broccolini, horseradish mashed potatoes, and berry crumble dessert. My least favorite was the mashed potatoes, only because I was hoping for a little more of a kick with the horseradish but honestly didn't even notice a difference from regular mashers. I really did enjoy the other dishes and would recommend any of them in a heartbeat. Of course, you're going to pay a hefty price for this quality of food and service, but it's worth it on occasion!

We had a great experience at Sullivan's for our anniversary dinner. The service was excellent and they took the extra time to make sure everything was perfect. Very good value when it comes to classier/ upscale steak houses. I would recommend Sullivan's for anyone looking for a place to go for business, special occasion or even just a night out. The bar area looked nice as well with a more laid back atmosphere which we will try next time. They added a nice touch by taking our picture and giving it to us before we left with the date and a happy anniversary memo.

Been here a few times, my third time this year as I travel from the UK, high quality steaks, love the oysters and the bar does great cocktails. Not cheap but a great special occasion.

Great steak, very attentive service. Salad was excellent. Only reason it wasn't 5 star was because my rocks pour vodka was real short . I think it must have been poured by an alligator or a bartender with a broken wrist.

Over the years Sullivan's has always been my standby as "best steakhouse". They delivered again. Food was the star, massive raw seafood platter was amazing! Wedge salad was spot on and my bone in dry aged filet was perfect. Only one negative, we were a party of 8 and they sat us at a round table that is really made for 6 so it was a little cramped, they were also a little slow at bussing the table. I'll be back!

Let's start at the beginning. They have complimentary valet COOL right?? NOT when they only have one person doing the valet and we literally have to sit in the car for 10 minutes getting honked at by everyone even though we were unable to move or go anywhere even if we wanted to park the car on our own. They should have had another person out there helping in valet or more than one other person. When we go into the restaurant the hostess' were very nice, asked if they could hang our jackets up and we were promptly seated (we did have a reservation). When we sat down, I had a dirty side dish in front of me... off to a not so good start HA. That really was not that big of a deal though, stuff happens and I understand. I ended up doing their deal for 39 you get to try a little bit of everything. I tried their philly cheese steak egg roll which is amazing (I had it at the Adult Swim last year). I followed it up with their french onion soup, which was more all cheese and slices of onion and very little soup. Lastly I had their strip over potatoes. I had asked for my steak medium rare and the very center was medium rare, the rest of the steak was medium to medium well. Needless to say, their steak was not terrible, just lacked a flavor... just tasted like an over priced piece of meat. My husband had asked for his steak medium and the only flavor it had was burnt. The outside was literally crispy burnt and it too lacked in seasoning and flavor. Their restaurant was crowded, extremely loud and honestly not worth the money. My husband because he made a reservation got a follow up e-mail from the company requesting him to answer a few questions about his visit and after answering the question he promptly got a call from someone about our experience. My husband has not had a chance to talk to them yet, but needless to say their customer service was outstanding... the quality of the food was just over priced and not worth it.

Came here for a dinner meeting and truly enjoyed our experience. Their food was excellent. The service was great, fast and friendly. Ordered the seared ahi tuna, tuna tartare, calamari, ribeye, spinach salad , sea bass, macaroni and cheese, tomahawk steak, mushrooms, asparagus and 3 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a fantastic meal and an outrageous bill for 7 people. But every penny was worth it.

Hands down my favorite steakhouse in Indianapolis. Start with the pineapple infused vodka "knock-out" martini (and I don't care for vodka), then move on to a bottle of Layer Cake Cabernet Sauvignon or one of the other bottles from their extensive wine list. The steaks are superb and the horseradish mashed potatoes are to die for. You will go back early and often.

Another great meal at Sullivan's! The bartender (Shawn) recommended trying the iceberg wedge with Bleu Cheese and some red wine vinaigrette. It was a great change to the salad and will be the way I order the salad in the future. Overall the food was excellent and a great place to eat dinner.

I came here with my boyfriend for our 3-year anniversary for a special meal. We were not disappointed. We decided to do the special menu (for breast cancer I believe) and were not disappointed. I started with a salad and he got the mushroom bisque. The salad was a nice way to start the meal, and the bisque was yummy. We also had a split of Rose, which was a fun way to celebrate. For the main course, we both chose filets, though I upgraded to "Oscar" style and he got a reduction sauce with his. Both of us were not disappointed; both filets were cooked to a perfect medium-rare, and the Oscar style pushed it to the next level. It was definitely a treat. When the waitress asked if we were there for a special occasion and we mentioned it was our anniversary, we received a complimentary round of drinks, which was really nice. We finished off the meal with decadent dessert, espresso and a cappuccino. The coffee and the desserts were both rich and a great way to cap off the night. I would highly recommend this place in the future for special occasions or a nice work dinner. The food and the service did not disappoint.

Tried taking carry out to a sick friend. An hour later screwed up the order and waited another 30mins. But gave us free dessert woo hoo.... The worst part is asked the Waiteress to double check the order before it came out...for 2 people take $150 and it was missed up.....not like Mickey Ds $15 order 10 times worse.....plus tip includes 3 cocktail while waiting I

Sully's is one of my absolute favorite high end restaurants. The food is always awesome. The wine selection is extensive. The wait staff and host staff may be the best in town. My wife and I really love it. Being a ribeye guy, I would recommend the 16oz ribeye, although their filet is to die for as well. Not in the mood for steak? Then have the charbroiled salmon filet. With a crisp well done exterior and a lovely medium rare center it is amazing. And don't forget a side of king crablegs, snow crab claws, or oysters on the half shell, the seafood at Sully's is as good as it comes.

I think the part that stands out most to me is how amazing the wait staff is. Always conscious of any time restraints you have, friendly but not overly hovering, very great service. The food is great, we usually come here for steak and IMO this is in the top 3 in the city. If you're in the mood for steak and top notch service, this is the place!

Food was good, nothing really exceptional. Our server, Christine, was wonderful, however. For the price, there are places I would rather go, but it was a good experience. My steak was cooked perfectly, as was my wife's salmon. However, once again, the taste was nothing extraordinary.

I hate to be underwhelmed anywhere but especially when my steak alone is $45, but I was... Their cowboy cut bone in ribeye was ordered medium rare and arrived below rare and mooing just a little. It also lacked great flavor for a dry aged steak. The server took the steak without explaining her intentions and had them put it under the broiler only to return it to me still very rare. The management didn't seem concerned and didn't off even a complimentary dessert. As soon as my steak returned from the kitchen the table next to us sent theirs back for the same reason. A $150 dinner for two should be perfect and spectacular. I was underwhelmed all the way around and won't be going back. Should have went to St. Elmo's...... : /

Had price fix meal, quite tasty. Calimari, Caesar salad, filet. Upgrade filet for $5 good choice. Partner had lobster bisque, outstanding, and ahi tuna appy, it had a funky crust, too much thyme. They made it right. Good service in the bar

When I was in high school, a teacher had taken a small group of us to a place I never heard of. He waxed poetically about their methods of preparing steak. I thank God for this teacher often; if it were not for him, I wouldn't know what steak was. I hated steak, actually, up until this point. It is something I was served on a plate at home, well done, was told was too expensive so I should enjoy it, and bite after bite would be deposited into a napkin. Then, I had the privilege of going to Sullivans. The service is incredible, the bone in filet is to die for, as are their stuffed mushrooms, really, any sides. If Sullivans steak does not alone set it apart from other steakhouse experiences, the sides should give it the edge. Easily my favorite steakhouse in Indy and yes I've sampled them all.

Took my husband out for his birthday, we had never been so we got on line and did a little research. We read that the attire was business so we dressed up a bit. We got there and 90% of the people were in jeans and fleece pull overs. Our reservations were at 7:30, we weren't sat until 8. I didn't have an issue with that really the place was very crowded it was understandable. They were offer to pay for an appetizer for all those sat late. No one refuses that! I decided to try the $39 special. Started with the Shanghai Calamari which was very good. Perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I then had the mixed green salad which was the perfect transition to the shallot and porcini crusted strip steak served with garlic potatoes. I was less impressed with the steak. It didn't look or taste to be crusted in anything more then pepper. My cocktail, the Blueberry Bourbon Mule actually made up for the steak. It was the perfect fall drink. If I go to Sullivan's again I may consider going just for an appetizer and cocktails.

It's hard not to feel just a little bit important when you roll into Sullivan's for the Business Lunch special. You get a choice of soup or salad, an entree (including option for a 6 oz. filet), side of fresh veggies and side of horseradish mashed potatoes. Sourdough bread and whipped butter is served with the soup/salad course. All for around $20. Sure, it's pricey for lunch, but hey...you're eating filet mignon. For lunch. And if it's a business lunch and you're expensing it, then it's really not so pricey after all.

Decided to go here for date night because it was close enough to our ending destination at the Keystone movie theater. We had reservations, but weren't seated until about half an hour later. In the meantime, we had drinks at the bar. As a recommendation, don't waste your money on their signature drink "The Knockout." It's really not worth the $10 for Svedka vodka. Once seated in the main dining room, we began to notice how incredibly loud the place was because it was so packed. We quickly overlooked this because our server was AMAZING! (I think his name was Randy.) He was very patient with us and explained all the menu details and specials very thoroughly. After other yelpers pointed out that their steaks are not "prime" and when I noticed they weren't even aged, I decided to to order a steak. My boyfriend did just so that we could try it and not have two un-tasty steaks if that were the case. Anyways, here is the breakdown of our meal... Appetizer: "Crispy Shanghai Calamari {A definite must have!} Free crusty loaf of bread with butter. 2 Caesar Salads (that were included with our entrées.) {great portion and tasty!} "Pan Seared Sea Bass" {Superb! One of the BEST I've had} "Bone-in KC Strip" {Cooked to a perfect medium-rare and had a great buttery flavor.--At $41, it's too pricey for only "choice" quality.} Side: "Crab Fried Rice" {Pretty tasty with the lump crabmeat, but a bit pricey for the portion.} Our check turned out to be $130 (including tip) for the two of us. Pricey, but I'm sure we'll be back to have a nice dinner again.

We're visiting in town and happy to find a solid, respectable and delicious steakhouse. Ambiance: refined but not too fancy. Certainly white tablecloth, but friendly and not snooty Service: impeccable. I couldn't believe how fast our steak came out which may have been worrying if it wasn't for such good overall service. Food: excellent. Between us, we tried the chili rubbed steak, steak salad and filet mignon. The winner was the rubbed steak - a real original find. Starters were not too big which left plenty of room for the main course Would happily return

After my first experience and review, John reached out to me and invited me back. Went with a buddy and of course the staff was warm and inviting as always, I decided this time to stick with what Sullivan's does best, STEAK. Ordered the Petit filet, cheesy potatoes, creamed spinach, a dirty martini and a glass of Malbec. Everything was perfect, love the atmosphere here, the live music, the ambience is upscale and then the staff bring it all right back down to earth with their friendly laid back approach. This place is now back in my favorites, see you guys again soon! :D

I love steak. My husband loves steak. Odds are you like steak if you are reading this. Also, odds are you might like to get as much as you can for your money. There is no doubt that your steak will be great here. Our last trip was on St. Patrick's Day which also happens to be our anniversary, and our first time to Sullivan's. Since Northside Nights was going on, we decided to give that menu a try and while our steaks were perfectly done, I still have a bit of a hard time justifying the cost. Yes, the service is spectacular, I mean they are awesome and you better tip well, but other than the service and the steak itself, the rest was lackluster. The side dishes are okay, but I've had better potatoes at Applebee's. The martinis we got, which were 'The Knockout' and the signature drink were inconsistent, my husband's was way more bitter than mine. Then the desserts were okay. It all just seems like a big hype for something that ends sort of average. Something was just missing from this trip and we just aren't curious enough to make another trip any time soon. I've just had better experiences at less obvious places. It's as though it's complacent here, going on a level of word-of-mouth that I really don't understand now. So try it, for the sake of trying it, but go in open-minded without expecting to make this place on your list of last supper before you die.

Dined here on a business trip in April. Decent beer selection, tried Goose Island's 312 pale. Fried calamari was an excellent appetizer. Wedge salad was just as it should be at a steakhouse--big and plenty of bleu cheese. The star of the show, of course, was the steak. The 12 oz filet was huge, cooked to a perfect medium rare, and delicious. Savored every bite. The sides were awesome too--mushrooms went great the the steak, white cheddar au gratin potatoes were good, asparagus was VERY good, and the mac&cheese was the showstopper in the sides department. Three cheese mac with garlic butter crust, are you kidding me?! Excellent.

Another place I just don't get....atmosphere is decent....anytime you have live music....it is usually good....and the nice thing about jazz is it rarely interferes...but is an subtle accompaniment to generous conversation... Cocktails were fine...beer selection not great but o.k. Appetizers are more than acceptable Steaks....I just don't think they are all that great...and the prices should mean prime...now...top quality choice can be hard to discern from prime...and can be subjective. The overall experience for me is "fine"....but I expect better for the cash outlay. the only real gripe I have for this place...I seem to always be in unavoidable earshot of insipid conversations between old guys and their young GF's....how many times can you use "LIKE" ???? I am an old guy that dates young GF's....but....they are brilliant and capable of discussing virtually any subject without 4000 "likes" and without constantly playing with their damn hair

Sullivan's holds a special place in my heart, I had my first Martini 15 years ago at this Northside staple.. It was so good I induldged in a few more, thur waking up with a smashing hangover that was one for the records! That lack of judgement has not slowed me down. I visit on the regular and always enjoy myself. Happy hour with girl friends on Thursdays for $6 martini's and select apps. is a winner. Every steak I have ever ordered has been prepared properly. The service has always been top notich and the wine list is good! I also like the free valet parking option on cold rainy days.

Everything about this experience was top-notch. My ribeye was cooked perfectly medium-rare, topped with a lovely goat cheese-cabernet butter. The appetizers were delicious, and the manager stopped by to give us a free one after the wine I had requested turned out to be sold out. The meal was paced perfectly leisurely, after asking if we had any time restrictions on our meal. The creamed spinach was just flat-out flipping fantastic! And the chocolate cake just killed me. I really don't have a single negative thing to say, which is almost disappointing. Yay for Sullivans!

This is my second trip to Sullivan's Steakhouse. I came here with my wife and son for lunch. The menu selection is rather small. I ordered the chicken cobb salad with out blue cheese with a side of ranch. It came with blue cheese and no ranch. The waitress realized the mistake and said she would bring out a new salad, which she did, but with out the side of ranch. Despite the wait, It was good, I think I would order it again with out onion. I did sample some of my wife's french fries, they were awesome. They are like Steak and Shake but a lot crispier. I paid $3.50 for a soft drink. That is just silly. That price was not on the menu. I don't think I would come here if I didn't have a gift certificate.

I brought my mom here on the Saturday before Christmas on the very early side, about 5pm, and we were seated in the nearly empty dining room at a table right next to the hallway to the bar, a major causeway for waiters. Dock one star there. There were four settings at the table and instead of taking away the ones we weren't going to use, they took away the others so we had to reset the table to work for us. Annoying to a person who honestly is not easily annoyed at restaurants. I am expectant of a nice time and not easily thwarted of that, which is true of this experience despite this review. Like, there was a dirty bread plate on the table and the menus that were handed to us looked in worse shape than Denny's menus, and they had food and grease on them from other diners. I should've just gotten up and left right then, but the traffic outside was so horrible and we were hungry and I promised my mom a good steak for her birthday. The bread that they brought was enough to feed a family of 8, but it was delicious and I was grateful for it, all said and done. The tuna tartar was tasteless; I know almost all sushi quality fish has been flash frozen, but this tasted like nothing. Unfortunate. The wedge salad and caesar were very good. I thought the caesar dressing tasted like it was made with good, almost smokey anchovies and the blue cheese on the wedge was obviously high quality, the best my mom and I have ever tasted. Not usually my first choice in salads, but I enjoyed them. I got the Alaskan Crab and my mom got the rib eye, which she loved, but for $41 we could've made just as good a steak on the grill at home. None of it was anything special, in other words. The waiter seemed rushed throughout and it wasn't yet busy (anticipation, perhaps, or not thinking two women coming in so early were going to eat much or tip well--we proved him wrong on both accounts if that was the assumption). They did bring a cheesecake for my mom's birthday, which was kind, and I loved that they took a picture of us because it's the last time we'll go there. Sorry, Sullivan's. You can do better for what you're trying to be.

My girls and I love coming here on Thurs night for there specials. We usually eat at the bar or outside. $5 martinis and appetizers. Can't be beat. Their sliced steaks were pretty good but I really enjoyed the gnocchi. Also, one of my favorite martinis...Chocolate diva. So good...godiva chocolate liquor. My friend likes the strawberry blonde. It was ok. We tried another one that was the special of the day...I can't recall the name but it was sooo good and fruity. We always have fun there but a word of warning...it is an older crowd so we stood out quite a bit. There is live classy music playing if you eat in the bar.

I realize it was New Year's Eve and they were busy, so I am not going to complain about the 40 minute wait for our reserved table at 9:45p. They had a 4 course meal menu for $89/person for the holiday. My boyfriend and I both had the jumbo crab cake for the appetizer... I am sure that its normally a good appetizer, but it had obviously sat for awhile, it was cold and the edges were hard. I had the mixed green salad and he had the cesear salad, both were ok, I mean they're salads. Our waiter never brought our bread to us and another waiter began to bring it, but when he noticed we were finished with our salads he turned back around and walked away with it. Boyfriend ordered the 16 oz ribeye med rare with the lobster tail. The lobster tail was rubbery due to cooking too long and sitting. The ribeye was cooked as ordered, but was overly peppered. I ordered the 12oz New York strip, med rare, my steak was great! It wasn't as heavily peppered as the ribeye. We both ordered the asparagus with hollandaise sauce, I thought it was good, considering I had never had the sauce. Boyfriend ordered the cheesecake, neither of us cared too much for it and we both love cheesecake. I had the chocolate mousse, again it was made up hours before serving as the edges were crusted. Our reservation confirmation stated "made to order". It also stated that after 9:45p the price went from $89/person to $69/person. Guess what... Not true. Boyfriend had Guiness and I had an orange vodka and pineapple martini, that was wonderful!! Needless to say, for $250, we were by far not impressed! Again I understand the crowd as we were practically sitting at the same table as the couple next to us (which they made a few complaints as well), but as long as a person waited for each course (which I'm not complaining about, but we were sitting at our table for 3 hours), you would hope they would cook to order. I'm glad we tried the place out, but it will be our last.

I'm a tough sale...so I wasn't impressed..I went to Sullivan's for a Great Gatsby party on Friday May 24 The deviled eggs made me wanna barf! yuck! . I thought the joint needed a makeover didn't like the atmosphere, old and dank. The waitstaff especially the women, had on these nasty old looking black clothes they looked cheap, dirty and dingy. The steak...well mine is far better. Never ever again.

The wife and I celebrated our anniversary this time around at Sullivans. We had a reservation but was late due to traffic but the restaurant was able to accommodate us. Excellent service. Food was good. I got the 22 ounce and order it medium well but came out medium rare and had to be returned twice. So it was comped as well as both our desserts and one double captain and coke. So it was alright to me. The manager was understanding and went out of her way to please us. Will return to Sullivans.

I really wanted to give more than three stars, but I just can't. I have been here before and had a great experience. Not this time. The appetizers were wonderful. My wife had the calamari and I had the seared Ahi......great! That is where it all went south. We ordered a couple cocktails. Wife has a Malibu & Diet and I have my staple vodka & tonic. We got a vodka & diet and a Malibu & tonic!? The Malibu & tonic wasn't bad and when I asked the waitress about it she replaced my wife's drink but not mine.....then on the bill I was charged for three cocktails? We ordered the filet duxelles (medium plus) and the chili crusted ribeye mid-rare. The filet came out on the short side of medium and the ribeye was rare at best. They did attempt to make it right but we did not want more steak. The manager even offered to fire two new steaks for us to box up and take home. They did comp us dessert, and took one cocktail off the bill. (The correct play would have been to replace both drinks and leave the incorrect ones as well) although I don't think I would have cared for the vodka and diet........... I still like this restaurant, but this visit was disappointing.

Just to clarify for everyone: Sullivan's serves premium CHOICE grade meat. which is NOT the same thing as Prime. So if you think you are going to get a Mortons/Ruths Chris/Capital Grille et al quality experience here-- even on Sullivan's best performance day-- you will NEVER get it. it is physically impossible. That said their bar special apps are okay for happy hour as an alternative to Rock Bottom further down on 86th.

My father in law came in to town (from France) and wanted a 'bon steak'. Apparently you can't get real good meat in France :) This was my first trip to Sullivan's and it was a pleasant evening. It was a bit on the expensive side ($30 for a 12oz NY strip) but not overly so. I was expecting a stuffy place that was going to thumb their nose at me. It was exactly the opposite. Everyone there was nice and didn't mind that I was in jeans and a t-shirt. The waiters were great too, courteous and responsive. I had a NY Strip and a side of fries. The steak was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The fries were delicious as well. I would recommend this place to people who want a great meal at a decent price.

Had a great dinner yesterday at Sullivan's. Hal the Manager knows how to make sure the clients are happy with their experience. Kudos! Good appetizers, sides and steak was above average. A little pricey, guess I won't complain about the prices so much back home in the Bay Area. Bartender and wait staff are very professional and first class. Our group ate dinner in the bar and the musicians were good, plus not too loud. If you get the steak be sure to get the truffle butter on top. Each side is enough to share for 2+ people. Oh, also they have free valet. Enjoy!

I went here before Thanksgiving, and I was disappointed. I had reservations for 7:30pm, and I waited for almost over 30mins before I was seated (what's the point of making a reservation?). We ordered the chilled seafood sampler, and it's not worth $48! There was two claws, two shrimps, two oysters, and some lump crab meat. There was supposed to be four shrimps (according to the menu), but obviously we did not get that. I ordered the filet and lobster; the lobster was big and pretty good. The filet was average, but not bad. It comes with either a Caeser Salad or House Sald; I ordered the Caeser. I urge everyone not to order it. They use cheap lettuce in the salad and was horrible. Our side dishes were asparagus and potato au gratin. The asparagus was the biggest rip off; it was $8 for 8 pieces of asparagus. No taste and not that great. The potato au gratin was made with cubed potatoes instead of sliced ones, which I thought was weird. It was okay, but not as good as Ruth Chris. We ordered an order of the crab fried rice to go, and it was acually pretty good. It was probably one of the better things there. We ended dinner with a coconut cream pie and warm brownie w/ vanilla ice cream. Both were of average quality. The service was also mediocre; our server paid more attention to the couple behind us. I don't plan on returning here anytime soon. I may just order a carry out of the crab fried rice.

Had a trio of filet mignon medallions with three different toppings - all perfectly cooked and very tasty. I was with a group of 14 people (after an all day meeting) and the ratio of sides did not quite work out. I wish our server had helped us figure that out a little better. But he was hoping to keep all the various drinks full so maybe he forgot. The "Philly Beefsteak Eggroll" (or something like that) appetizer sounds bizarre--but was surprisingly good.

When it's my own money I go here, it's designed to be a modification of a Capital Grille or St. Elmo's (new money vs. old money, respectively) type steak house. It's a hipper steakhouse segment. Within it's position in the market it's 5 stars. Horseradish mashed potato is AWESOME, and the filet seasoning is fantastic, you don't go yearning for a ribeye flavor with the modest salty seasoning. This place can take the place of Ruth's Chris.

Great steak We ate there during their 3 course special. Was a great value for delicious food. We still ended up spending over $100 for two people, However, we got wine with the meal. We are also 20-25% tippers.

Just got back from a lunch with family. Food was mediocre at best, and the service even worse. I had a luncheon Ribeye ($22), that was the toughest piece of meat I've ever had. My Dad got the shrimp scampi, the pasta was good, but the shrimp were overcooked and quite tough. My sister-in-law got a filet and said it was also dry and tough. I've been there before and had good meals, and ironically I'm going there tomorrow night again for a corporate Christmas party. If the food is no better then, I'm never going back - that's for sure.

Was attending a conference at the local Sheraton (attached to the Fashion Mall) and this place was in walking distance. Very charming steakhouse, I think they were going for old Chicago style as there was lotsa' wood and was dim (almost annoyingly dim). We were greeted by hostess promptly and seated w/in 5 minutes of our reservation. Waiter greeted us at once with menus and winelist. Several of us started off with a drink called the Strawberry blonde. It was really good. I asked the waiter for the recipe and he was kind enough to ask bartender who obliged. Open kitchen but not noisy. Other drinks included excellent dirty martinis and several well received glasses of wine. Also, had a well made ice tea. Starters: We had the calamari. Killer. Well cooked and flavorful on it's own without an excess of batter. They add an asian sweet chili sauce that complemented the calamari well with plenty of kick. For dinner, I ordered the chili rubbed ribeye ($48). I asked for it black and blue. Came out beautifully. You can tell they have the grill on insanely high. The char was awesome on the inside and was crispy. I was impressed, the steak was perfectly cooked. My only complaint was the chili sauce that came with it was placed ontop of the steak and took away from the great char. If you like a crispy char, simply ask for it on the side as it does go well with the meat. Other diners with me were equally happy. They had a beautiful bone-in ribeye that was very nice as well. My dinner came with a blue cheese lettuce wedge. It was very nice but a bit big for me. Honestly, could've fed 2-3 people. Sides included (we ordered family style for that): 3mac'n'cheese, not alot of bite and a bit runny but it was good, green beans which were very well cooked and properly seasoned, corn which was ok, and a crab fried rice concoction which I didn't try. For dessert, everyone was so full but I saw a creme brulee and figured everyone could have a small bite. It came out in a huge ramekin that was enough to give everyone a full serving. The custard was not as firm as I like, but was flavorful and sugar was torched properly. The price was very reasonable at $9 considering it served 5. One of the owners, Ray Sullivan, stopped by to check on us. Very nice gentleman and spent some time joking around with us. Server, Kurt, was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. The meal came to about $120-150 per person after tip and including several rounds of drinks, very well worth the price. Overall, an excellent meal and I hope they open a location in Florida.

A very good upper level steak house. I had the chili encrusted ribeye and it was excellent. And from the sounds of the rest of my party, their meals were good as well.

Had dinner at Moe's downtown the night before, it was so BAD, when ate at Sullivan's the next night..OMG it was so GOOD..I had Oscar style filet the big one, creamed spinach, chopped salad, but they have a skinny cosmo that is to die for.We had calamari and ahi tuna for apps..every thing was great, today for lunch I will be eating the rest of my steak. I always love going there for dinner and drinks and look forward to it everytime!

Well I certainly liked Sullivan's better than St. Elmo from the previous evening. Evening two of my quick trip to Indy, and I took someones suggestion to venture out by Keystone at the Crossing . The dining room is pleasant and nicely laid out. Roomy and not stuffy...casual. I ordered the Sunday dinner special for $29--a tremendous amount of food for a pittance of what it all would cost a la carte. I had a rather regrettable calamari--breaded and over-fried--as an additional appetizer. Couldn't tell if they were calamari rings or bits left over from the deep fryer. huff Caesar salad was fine. The Fillet Mignon was AGAIN undercooked (see my St. Elmo review for further reference), and I had to send it back. Still wasn't totally done, but I simply ate around the pink part. Folks, it is NOT difficult to cook an 8 oz. fillet. They're small, and I had it butterflied. Shouldn't have been difficult. Oh well...Indy must not be a "well-done" steak kind of city. My side was horseradish mashed potatoes, which, I kid you not, is my second time in two dinners in a row that I've had horseradish in something. Generous family-sized portion and not too spicy. Banana bread pudding was ok...I only ordered it because it was one of the few things on the sampler that had ice cream, and I like bananas. All in all, not a bad place. I liked my waiter at Sullivan's who, unlike my waiter St. Elmo, wasn't stuffy or had an irritatingly thick accent. So with all that in mind, plus the fact that I could get a nicely done steak meal in Indy for less than $30, I'm giving it 4 stars.

Everything at the restaurant was great. I ordered the filet mignon and the au gratin. They were both cooked perfectly and tasted great. The only thing that kept me from giving that fifth star is that I have had a better steak for less at Stony River. I would rather go there and get more flavor for less money.

I don't go to Sullivans often but when I do I'm always happy. We went here on Valentine's Day for lunch and really enjoyed sitting in the bar for a little less formal meal. Their business lunch is a great deal - $20 and you pick from their soups / salads (generous portions) and then get an entree with sides. I had the wedge salad, 6oz filet, fresh steamed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. It was awesome. A big glass of red wine and some coconut cream pie for dessert and I was a happy girl. Kevin in the bar is great - my steak was a tad overcooked and he insisted that he get me a new one, which he did immediately - it did not slow down our meal at all. Great service.

Came here this year for Valentine's Day, I have been to Sullivan's quite a bit for work meetings and dinners. The food is always top notch! The steaks are incredible, the seafood is always fresh and the service is always really nice. The 12 oz filet is what I always get and it's ridiculously good! For a starter the calamari is amazing and for sides, we always get the baked potato for two and the onion rings, both are wonderful! If you want to take someone to some place nice and know that you're going to get a great experience, go to Sullivan's!

Food is fine, typical above average steakhouse. Unfortunately, after several visits, stopped eating there because the service is consistently bad. Can get equally good steak (much better in fact) in Indy with much better service.

Anyone who gives this place a bad review is so incredibly wrong. We went here for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. Oh my goodness! They treated us like rock stars. Several managers stopped by to wish them a happy anniversary. One manager came by, took our picture, then put it in a frame and had the staff sign it and gave it to us. Wow! They had a great deal for a 3 course meal for two for $79. Great value. The steak was the best I've ever had. Lobster bisque was awesome. The mango tango martini was great and the special deal included desserts. They came out with candles in the dessert, and a card for my folks. They were so happy, they thought I planned everything, but I told them, this is all the restaurant. It was truly amazing. Best service we've ever had and great food. Yes, this place is pricey but simply save it for a special occassion. It's worth every penny. Thank you thank you so very much to the entire staff for making my parent's monumental anniversary so special. It truly means the world to me and I promise I will shout your name from the rooftops.

Best lunch deal in town. Salad or soup; 6 oz filet mignon, mashed potatoes and veggies for $20.00. The service here is the best you will find in Indy.

Sullivan's is my fall back. I should give it five stars except that it's a national chain owned by Lone Star Steakhouse; however, all of my experiences have been quite wonderful. They have an amazing blue cheese wedge (much better than Ruth's Chris), and their steaks are always tender and juicy. They have a great looking bar and usually there are good bar specials for appetizers and drinks during the week from what I understand. During the summer you can purchase a tasty cigar from their humidor and smoke outside (outdoor seating). If you're looking for a casual, yet classy and atmospheric restaurant, and don't mind spending a fair amount of money I would highly recommend Sullivan's. It is my favorite among the upscale chain steakhouses.

I had a really nice time here with my family. We came for Easter dinner - and made sure to have a reservation. They had a fantastic deal going on : choice of salad and entree for $34! It may sound steep, but Sullivan's is definitely in the upper price range. I started with a caesar salad -- traditional dark greens with shredded parmesan, homemade croutons and creamy caesar dressing. It was quite a large starter salad. Large loaves of soft and warm bread with whipped butter are served plentifully as needed to all the tables. (I LOVE bread at any restaurant!) For my main course I decided on the large shrimp stuffed with Imperial King crab and a HUGE baked potato. Absolutely delicious. The potatoes are topped with your choice of at-the-table service of sour cream, whipped butter and bits of fresh bacon. Great wine selection including a past favorite of mine: Terrazas Malbec, very smooth finish. I love the decor -- bookcases lining the walls and filled to the brim with vintage books. I would come here again if I perhaps lived in the area, but it served it's purpose for Easter dinner with the family. Great for special occasions!

Great atmosphere, feels like a 1950's swanky type restaurant. There was a bit of a wait at the bar, but we passed the time by having a few drinks at the bar. Got the lump crab cakes for an appetizer and the filet for my entree. There was ample crab in the crab cakes and the filet was cooked perfectly. I'd definitely come here again the next time I'm in Indy.

took my wife there for a special dinner. Food was WAY WAY WAY over priced. I have gotten better food and service at Applebee's. Server was snotty and treated us like second class people. the wine was good. 20% higher than the same bottle we bought weeks earlier at a different restaurant. steak $30, cold sided $7each, Wine $45 Bill over $168 for 2 steaks 3 sides wine and desert. Did i mention the sided were NASTY COLD. WILL NEVER GO BACK!

This was the best dinner I have had. Everything about it was excellent. The escargot and steaks were superb. We had an exceptional bottle of Malbec for a reasonable price. The service was very attentive and helpful.

Another wonderful evening at the prime steakhouse of the north side. First experience in the new enclosed patio. The only thing that surpasses the quality of the food and drink is the attentiveness of the staff, from waitstaff to management. Well done and thank you for a fantastic evening.

I have never been let down here. I am a steak lover and I have eaten at every major steakhouse in town (there are a ton of them, by the way). Sullivan's always seems to get it right. I have been there a total of 10+ times and only once did they make a mistake, which was corrected above and beyond our expectations. We're all human and and as long as you own up to your mistakes and fix them ASAP, no big deal. It is my only place for high end steak these days.
