I was passing through town and dropped at Steak n' shake for lunch. Not that remarkable but it was cheap too so kind of offset. You get what you pay for

Service is the worst I've seen.. We were seated without menus.. Finally after waiting for 10 minutes the server FINALLY brought us some.. Who knows how good food service will be.. This has to be the absolute worse experience I've had ever...

We only ate because of the waitress, Kristy. We drove in from out of town starving. Kristy right away gave us great service and recommendations on all the great food. We would have left if it wasn't for her. Stakenshake, please use Kristy as a great example of how good customer service could be. Thanks Kristy for treating us like humans and actually giving a you kn

Another regional burger place, but with a sit-down style. We don't have these in California, so we figured that we would hit one up on our trip in the Midwest, and this one is right off the interstate. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/o8Yf… ) Our server was pretty good, and she did the right thing when asked about what oil was used for frying the fries (one in our group has a peanut oil allergy), and went to go find out from the manager rather than make something up. I got the southwest chipotle chicken sandwich, which was very tasty. Makes me wish that Jack in the Box brought this item back. My butterfingers shake also hit the spot. My wife got a slider trio with three different sauces and enjoyed them. We both agreed that her Key Lime shake was kinda gross - perhaps too much artificial flavor added? (minus 1 star!) But the rest of our food order was good, for both us and our road trip buddies. And they even let us split payment up at the counter with two credit cards.

Yummy! Best known for their Shakes and Burgers because They Are Really Good! We have been here several times with good wait service each time! The atomsphere is casual like a 50's diner. My favorite shake is the Reeses Peanutbutter Cup shake! Favorite burger, Royale burger. The shake speaks for itself. If you love chocolate & peanutbutter, like I do, You will love this shake. Creamy and hand-made to perfection! The burger is a traditional cheeseburger with a fried egg in it, and some kind of special sauce! At first I didn't know if I would like it that well... but it has become my most favorite burger here!! Their french fries are different in that they are a shoe-string type. very thin, but tasty. You can eat healthy here!! I have. Their Grilled Chicken salad is very good! I like to add avocado/guacamole to it because I love Avocado! And how about a cup of Chili!! Yum. This location is open 24 hrs.

Great food, but the staff is hit or miss. As we walked in, the manager was cooking, dropped what he was doing to seat us, he then took our order and when he asked one of his staff to help him make a milkshake, they said they were busy. So, good food, but there may be a bit of a wait - truly a one man show until he hires some folks willing to work. He gets an A+ for effort - good food.

This was my first visit with Steak 'n Shake and I was excited to try their food because my friends had highly recommended it. One of the employees, Monique was an absolute horror. I ordered politely, took my seat, and When my order was up, she looked at me (because she knew it was my order) and ignored my order, put it on the counter and did other work. When I confronted her about her behavior Ahe gave me attitude and then while I was eating continued to give me an evil eye from across the room. Her general demeanor made me feel uncomfortable and I will not be patronizing Steak 'n Shake again because they obviously do not train their employees with good customer service.

Terribly slow and careless service. Waitress didn't care to greet us. Never got our shakes. My buddy didn't get the right order after 30+ minutes. Ridiculous.

This might just be the worst place on earth. Ordered a simple numbered meal. Waited 35 mins and there was 6 people there. Never got my food or anyone that ever asked me what I was waiting for. You're welcome for the $14. What a waste. Never again. I'm sorry I couldn't give you less stars. Negative stars should be an option.

Worst service ever, ordered through drive thru, got to window and the order was not in the system. Manager retook the order to get it wrong yet again, making me wait an additional 15 min, they didn't bring out my drinks, no napkins, or sauce for my tenders. Oh and i received the wrong burger. I'm glad I'm from out of town, I'll never have to waste by money on this type of bad service at a chain restaurant I once loved, thanks to this experience that has changed.

I walk in to a small, out of the way building with sticky handles, a very dirty exterior, and a relatively messy interior. I was seated immediately to the ONLY dirty table out of the entire building, and every table was open. The service was quick (slow for being the only one there). The waiter took my order and I had to thoroughly explain so she could understand what I was trying to order. I then received the wrong order and had to send it back. When they charged me for the first and more expensive order, I complained and they had to go through a lengthy process to change everything. The worst part is that they complained that I didn't order what I wanted. I encourage you to steer clear from here

Came here past 10pm for dinner, so most of the places I wanted to go were closed. I don't know if there is a steak and shake equivalent in California, but seems like a cross between a red robin/diner and inn n out. Anyways, I got the Jalapeño crunch chicken burger. It's not big like a diner burger, but it's a good size for the price. Chicken was lean, the onions gave a nice crunch, and the buns were soft. Fries were thin--not crunchy as I expected, but still good.

Four of us came in to get milkshakes and drinks. We would have been one of the easiest tips of the night. We waited 15 minutes at the dirty table we were sat at before someone stood in front of our table and yelling to a waiter, "you gonna take these four bruh?" He said it about 3 times then walked away from us. Finally we just ended up walking out. Don't have time to wait half an hour just to TAKE a drink order.

It took 45 minutes for our order to be put in but the manager knew it was only her 3rd day and should have been watching her a little more. Bathrooms were kinda nasty but the food was good

I am so unbelievably weak for this "chain". The service isn't always on point, but for the most part, it's pleasant, delicious and quick! My favorite sandwich is the guacamole steakburger! For SNS, people really wouldn't believe that they have such delicious guacamole, but they really do! With pepper jack cheese and a toasty bun, I would eat it all the time if I could!! My husband really liked their gumbo but I think I'll save my gumbo taste buds for experts... For shakes, they had a salted caramel pretzel shake that really made me happy! I've never been able to finish a shake there before but this shake--I couldn't stop drinking! This place is just plain tasty. Not fancy, no bells or whistles, just TONS of different steakburgers and shakes!

Great tasting burgers and an ample variety of choices. Shakes are also varied and delicious.

It's what you expect from a steak and shake. Food was greasy and good. The milk shake was thick and creamy. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because the staff isn't that great. I'd be real pissed if I was eating in instead of taking out.
