I like Steak n Shake although it is probably the farthest thing from healthy that you can get. The drive through wait at any location is always going to be longer than for example McDonalds. However, the wait at this location is ALWAYS longer than I can tolerate compared to the other locations. I have also had my order messed up at least twice...usually late at night...not like it is 12pm and super busy.

Routinely, if you going by yourself and eat at the bar facing where they prepare the food they will always ask you if it's here or go. If you tell the cashier asked to go if you take shorter immediately. If you tell them it's to go, it will be 30 minutes if you told him to go it's 15 minutes They look around and act like finding Waitress Has never occurred before instead of the case you're taking order a really poor process The food is absolutely great when you get it

When you're on a time crunch, the last thing you need is a slow moving line in a fast food drive-through. As we inched through this particular Steak 'n Shake, we all immediately regretted our decision on choosing this place. Due to being squeezed between two other vehicles, we weren't going anywhere anytime soon. Finally we got to the speaker so we could order our food. We gave our order - twice - knowing that they'd probably end up getting it wrong. For my order, I distinctly told them "no cheese" for my sandwich. Simple request. No cheese. Said it twice. So we get to the window and grab our food and drive off. Because of our time crunch, we couldn't sit at the restaurant and go over our food to make sure it was correct. As we're driving down the road and opening up our sandwiches, none of it was right. What was on my hamburger? Cheese. Dear heavens, people. My friend's sandwich? It wasn't what she ordered? Napkins? Of course not. My other friend that happened to order a "steak frank" (ha - we laughed about this order for awhile) - well, it was covered in ketchup and mustard. I tell you what - I am usually a fan of Steak 'n Shake. What is up with this place? So disappointing. Get your stuff together. And when someone doesn't want cheese, don't friggin' give them cheese. I'm lactose intolerant darn it.

The service when dinning in is horrible they dont like to serve people that are not caucasian. We have been here many times every single time we get served last or we just get the stare. I don't know what it is but u should never judge a book by it cover. Its unfortunate that people are so ignorant here.

What a crappy place. Wife and I had a sweet tooth after a long day of moving our stuff into new house.. So off to steak and shake we went for some shakes. My wife was happy with her Chocolate shake. My reese peanut butter shake.. sucked. It was partially melted and the reese peanut butter cup... WAS NOT REAL REESE'S. I love reese peanut butter cups and this was 'knock off' peanut butter cup. I know it sounds stupid, but? Service - we waited in the drive thru for more than 5 minutes and moved 1 car. So i got out and went inside.. Waited at the counter for a minute before finally being waited on. 5+ minutes later I finally got our shakes, which weren't nearly as good as normal. Next time we will try the one on Southport Road.

I usually only go to Steak 'N Shake for their 1/2 price drinks from 2-4 PM and 2-4 AM. Thus the 3 stars. The milkshakes are great and it comes out lightning quick.

Don't go on third shift. My boyfriend and I have went through the drive thru and dined in here several times, and it was almost never a good experience. Went earlier in the day once and got much better service and food, but we are night owls and have stopped coming to this location due to a variety of bad experiences. Sloppy food thrown carelessly in to go bags that are all messy and greasy, usually missing items, a server who argued with me about what we ordered.... We drive to the Southport Rd. location now. It is twice the distance from our house, but I love Steak N' Shake and they always do a good job there. I got sick of the unpleasant surprises from the Emerson Ave. location.

The food is decent for the most part. Not a huge fan of the fries. You have.about a 50% chance of getting a decent server. The place is normally kind of dirty. If it weren't for the delicious steak burgers, I would never step foot in there.

This is the first place I go everytime I come to Indy, they don't have them in Cali. I have been going to this specific one since I was in middle school. We used to go every Friday after the football games. I have always gotten my usually ( frisco melt). Service and management is great still my favorite.

Something insanely addictive about this place. I now live in NYC, but the minute I land to visit my family, you can bet I'm in a car here before anywhere else. I've written corporate asking for locations in NYC, to no avail. The steakburgers are wafer thin, crispy, and juicy... thin cut shoestring fries are perfectly salty. The chili mac supreme with crumbled crackers is a standard of mine. And the hand-dipped milkshakes and freezes must have crack in them, because I almost miss them as much as I miss my family. Love this place!

If God had intended man to drink soy milk he wouldn't have invented chocolate milkshakes.

I've always loved Steak N Shake and now most locations have free WiFi! Also, this national chain is located here in Indianapolis.
