I have eaten at shullas many times. The quality is always great. I was excited when I saw them participating in devour downtown. To be kind the quality was poor. The filet was worth the cost of the $30 deal, but barely. Order from the regular menu if your looking for steakhouse quality. If I had wanted a cheap choice steak, I would have gone to tgi Fridays.

For a hotel bar, not bad. As a steakhouse, really expensive. If you're staying at the Westin, call them and order an appetizer or side dish for takeout (like a baked potato and broccoli) and you'll get a much better deal than room service. The menu is small. The bar closes at midnight; the kitchen might close earlier.

I'm a meat eater and among Morton's steak house and Ruth's this is by far the worst place that ever been! ! I go to Morton and Ruth's a lot and maybe is this location but the service was poor! !! One and half hour dinner and I travel alone.Once they served me the salad i had to wait 20 min to have some bread, NOT the salad...just the bread...why ? they said cause they did not have it ready ? Where am i...in a diners ? .!!! 5 min for oil and vinegar and its not a cheap place! !! Oh and finally they have mistaken the cook of my steak so i had to wait another 20 min to have another prepared! In Indy there is Ruth's and Morton's few blocks I strongly suggest you to go there instead! !! OH btw...there were only 3 tables that nights ...was far from being a full house.

This is our second time dining at Shula's in Indianapolis. It is expensive, but it is truly a great dining experience. I had the New York Strip this time. It was so big I had to take half of it home. (Which provided a nice steak and eggs breakfast in the morning) We had caesar salads, very good. We split a twice baked potato. I normally don't like baked potatoes, but this was incredible. We were celebrating my birthday, so we had the chocolate lava cake. Yum!

I went with two friends and it was almost like people were afraid to speak at a normal level. I didn't think that this place was supposed to be quiet. Liven up people!! It was hilarious when the waiter came over to explain the steak selection and everyone got real quiet to hear what he had to say. Bone-In Cowboy Steak and Filet were ordered. The Filet nearly melted in your mouth. Amazing. The cowboy steak was very flavorful but maybe a bit fatty. Had side dishes of Lobster Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The lobster mashed potatoes were excellent. I had never had them before or heard of the combo. Asparagus was good. Service was fine except I probably would have had 3 more drinks had they asked. When we go again, we'll be the loudest people in there by talking normal. Good view of downtown too.

I had lunch here with my parents a few years back and enjoyed the experience. Although stuffy traditional steakhouses seem to be getting phased out in many places, this is one that's still holding their own in terms of quality and service. You likely won't be blown away by the intuitiveness of any of the dishes, but for what it is, this Shula's is good.

Really... For a well-known, supposedly top-notch steakhouse, I expected greater things. I know, I know, the atmosphere IS cool. Don't get me wrong, I love the football menu, the trophies, and the pictures of Mr. Don Shula himself... But, the food? Overrated. There I was, sitting in my chair waiting for what I thought would be one of the filet mignons of my life, and... A piece of meat? That's it? No special red wine truffle sauce, no garnish, no side order, nothing? All right, I say... Let's give this sucker a try and see if the steak is in fact so good that it doesn't NEED any kind of garnish... I take a bite. Erm... Too dry, and not amazing... Another bite? Darn, same thing. Let's go for the juicy center! Aaannnddd.... No. So that's how my experience at Shula's panned out. It was like a practical joke. I mean, the steak isn't bad, the service is good, and the atmosphere is cool, but for what you pay? Please; I expected much better.

Went to Shulas for a special occasion. Table was too small esp once they put the football on the table. Service is so-so. The sides and appetizers are much better than the steak. It wasn't until we tried to order dessert that they told us that two of their specialties would take half an hour prep time.

About what you'd expect from a restaurant in a Westin. Good food, good service, good view of the city. Would have thought more of the hotel...but that's another story.

Shula's excellent reputation is worth it. The steaks are outstanding, as are the other entrees -- they do a decent line in snapper and mahi-mahi, but, realistically... if you're coming to a steak house, the likelihood is that you're looking for steak! Shula's itself is a full-service (and very pleasant) restaurant with very good service. However -- you can also eat in the "No Name Lounge" sports bar right next to the restaurant -- and the same menu is offered! The bar service is very good, bartenders are efficient and friendly. If in Indy, definitely worth a visit.

Let me tell you, the service that I received at Shula's was outstanding! i never saw the bottom of my glass and the food was fabulous. I came for lunch on a Saturday and was seated right away, no wait. I wanted a steak but couldn't justify paying $40 for a piece of meat. So I opted for their open face rib-eye steak sandwich, which was $16. That was the best piece of meat I have ever had! If I could I would have licked my plate clean, I would have. The sandwich came with the option of mash potatoes or french fries, I went for the mash potatoes. The mash potatoes were homemade and creamy, topped with mushroom brown gravy. I was so impressed I came back in the morning and had the eggs benedict. Once again there I am wanting to lick my plate clean. The holidays sauce was perfect! Just the right amount of lemon and butter. When I come back to Indiana, I will definitely be back to Shula's.

I went here for breakfast (big mistake!). My bill for cottage cheese, fruit, coffee, and OJ was $20. Enough said. I don't think the best service and fruit in the world would make the cost of this meal make any sense. What an early morning rip off.

I went to Shula's on a Saturday night with my dad/his MasterCard. Between the 2 of us, we split a BBQ shrimp appetizer, surf and turf, side asparagus, and 2 drinks. The service was great- everyone was very friendly, we were seated quickly, our waiter was very attentive, and our food was brought out pretty fast. I'm not a huge steak eater, but we ordered the 24 oz porterhouse to split and it was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. I am however a big seafood eater and didn't LOVE the "surf." I guess this makes sense, as Indianapolis is really no where near any body of water but surrounded by farms. The BBQ shrimp was great, but of course, it was covered in BBQ sauce- how can you go wrong? The meal came to $200 with gratuity. My dad was mildly unphased by the cost because it was pretty on-par with east coast steakhouses. Unfortuanately the majority of the cost came from the lobster, which I thought was the worst (though not BAD, persay) part of the meal. You could say it was our own fault for ordering lobster in Indianapolis, but still disappointing considering how good the steak was. I would definitely recommend it to others visiting Indy, but I'd suggest sticking with the meats.

Came here on a Sunday, very few people. I was looking for a brunch venue and got tired of looking so stopped in. The place is a little grungy in the daylight; the windows filthy. The spoon brought out with my French Onion soup had a piece of dried food stuck on it. The soup was horribly over-cheesed. I've pretty much given up on hotel restaurants as they thrive on one-off tourist expense accounts, regardless of their poor food and lacking service.

Expensive as hell. I think the steaks we got cost like 30-40 bucks each. It was good food, maybe I'm cheap, just not the kinda person to eat 40 dollar steaks. For 2 people I think the bill came out to around 115 bucks. They dont have a very big menu at all, but then again if you're coming to a steakhouse... you're not exactly gonna be looking for stuffed chicken breasts on the menu. The waitress scared me, by bringing over a massive lobster on a table, I thought it was dead until it started moving. The best part of the meal was the bread though, I still think about that bread it was so damned good. They do have some kinda massive steak thats like 60oz or something. If you eat it they put your name on the website..... I wanna go back and do that one day.

Located in the Westin hotel in downtown Indy, Shula's is owned by former Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula. The menu is a tad small, maybe 10 or so entrees to choose from. But if you want a great appetizer, ask for the Blackened Beef Tips. Sizzling hot and served with a side of Bearnaise sauce and a horseradish/sour cream dip - it's excellent. Overall, the service is great and the food is usually top notch.

This is the second Shula's I have eaten at. The first was in Philly and now this one in Indianapolis. After the second time being at one of these, I have a pretty solid opinion on them. I'm just not that impressed. I have been lucky enough to eat at some of the best steak houses from coast to coast and even though I'd expect this one to be right up there, its not. I've had better steaks at more expensive places and I've had better steaks at far cheaper places. I had the 22 oz bone in ribeye, my favorite cut, and it was OK. Not bad but just not that flavorful. And not worth the huge price tag. Everything is a la carte and the side portions were of course very large. The hash browns were super good. So was the creamed spinach. The service was impeccable. Almost over the top. The steak menu printed on a NFL football was cool I guess. I have given them a fair chance but in the future, I will probably avoid these. I'm trying not to sound snooty and truthfully, I did not think anything was really bad at all. Its just not worth all the hype and price.

It had been a long weekend after going to Indianapolis for the F1 race. After a long weekend of racing, drinking and some minor sightseeing nothing could top off the weekend than having lunch at Shula's. I had heard many great things about Shula's over the years, and there was no better time to try it than now. Shula's raises their own cattle for their relatively small chain. The cattle are raised on the Graham Angus Farm, which is recognized as one of the top Angus farms in the country. In this way, they are able to have total control of their produce from birth to the slaughterhouse. Since the cattle are raised only for their restaurants, the beef is even more rare to find than prime beef. The 24 oz. Shula Cut Porterhouse is a sight to behold. With a great char on the outside, and a perfect medium rare center, the steak is pure bliss. The steak is dry aged, so very little juice runs out of the steak. The dry aging process also helps to develop the flavor of the beef while also breaking down connective tissue thereby making the steak more tender. The steak was so delicate that you could almost cut it with your fork. The beef flavor was intensified due to the dry aging process. As with most high end steak houses, everything is a la carte. Expensive, sort of. Compared to Morton's or Ruth's Chris, the steak at Shula's is much better and about the same price point. I would definitely go back to Shula's if I am in a city that has a Shula's.

I really wanted to like this place. The food was good, and the atmosphere works for me. But when I lay my credit card on the table, that's a not-so-subtle hint that I'm ready to go. When I'm forced to sit and stare at it for 20 minutes, I'm not happy. At the prices they're charging, I expect better.

My husband and I have eaten here a few times. We take frequent "stay-cations" and they are always at The Westin in downtown Indy. We eat here sometimes because it's conveniently located on the hotel's second floor. I love the fried calamari ribbons and my husband loves their french onion soup. The lobster mac n' cheese is good too. However, our trip there last Saturday was pretty poor during lunch. My husband's rib eye open face sandwich was full of gristle and was over cooked. I don't understand how they thought cooking a rib eye, putting American cheese on top, and then heating it again in the oven would be good at all. My crab cake burger fell apart and wasn't fresh. The sauce that comes with it is really good, but it's still a bad spin on a gourmet tuna fish sandwich if you ask me. It wasn't worth the $18. The steak fries were actually really good and were one of the two highlights of the meal. The other highlight was the raspberry creme martini the bartender made for me. We will be branching out to the other restaurants that are less than a 5 minute walk away. This menu is outdated and over priced. Also, the staff is snobby every time because we don't have reservations! We've gone their twice while all the tables were empty and when we ask to sit by the windows, they tell us that they are reserved for other guests. When we leave an hour later the tables are always still empty. If you want to come here and be treated like people be sure to make a reservation.

Reservations were made for 7:30, we arrived at 7:15 and finally was seated at 7:45. It was a great meal, however, 3 of the 4 guest's glass stayed dry. When our server finally noticed, she asked only 2 of the 3 for a refill. My card was also charged for more than I authorized as it seems the restaurant automatically feels they can have 20% extra no matter the service provided. As said earlier, the food is great. Steak cooked to perfection. I recommend the Lump Crabcakes as a side.

First let me say, if one makes a reservation and requests a high chair and let's you know it is a birthday celebration... you would think the establishment/hostess would AT LEAST have a clue you were coming... and at most know where they are going to seat you, have the table and high chair ready and wish you a happy birthday and MAYBE even offer a discounted dessert... MAYBE I have high expectations, but I would think an establishment of this magnitude would have high(er) standards!! Upon our arrival there was chatter among the hostesses on where to seat us and this server just got a table and such... really!?! I don't want to see/hear this! Then the hostess attitude flips to a pleasant but awkward/cheesy mantra about the 1972 Miami Dolphins 17-0 "Perfect Season" and how the restaurant and all it's photos and memorabilia is built around that season as she walked us to our table. Awesome concept, but I felt her spiel was too half hearted and scripted. Also she carried a football signed by Coach Shula to our table and placed it for us to see the steak menu on it. Kind of neat... but it looked so dirty that I really didn't want it on the table I was going to be eating from. Had one member of the 'team' serving us fill our waters. Then another member of our 'team' who was in training greet us. Then later another member of the 'team'... This team work was a bit much... just give me 1 server next time, please. The team member in training repeated the spiel to us about the Miami Dolphins 1972 season that the hostess had told us... then rambled about some other things - scripted. Left us to look at the menus then a little while later wheeled over the cart of all the steak cuts. The long explanation about each and every steak cut was a bit much... Some people may not know which steak is which, but I felt it was just a waist of my time to go through all of this. My husband and I each ordered the filet cooked medium/rare. I thought they tasted great, maybe just slightly over cooked, but not worth sending back. We shared a family style creamed spinach that was also very tasty! (not a huge fan of the family style sides!! may work well if you have a crowd, not so much when you have 1 or 2!) But I do have to say, I feel it was WAY OVER-PRICED. 1 glass of wine, 2 filets, 1 side = almost $120. I wouldn't complain so much about the price if the service had been better... WAY better!!! I am Never a fan of my water going empty... there is NO reason not to keep it filled! OVERALL I see great potential... food tasted fantastic, but service was nearly poor and price was high... not impressed! Nearly a 2 star rating.

One of the best steakhouses in all of Indianapolis. Everything is served a la carte so be prepared to share with your friends. It's on the pricey side but we'll worth it.

We dined at Shula's July 27, 2013. We had an awesome experience. We had one server who was friendly, but was kind of snarky. He rubbed me the wrong way. However, halfway through our dinner the waiter changed, and we had Daniel as our server. I cannot say enough nice things about Daniel. He was the best waiter I have ever had at any restaurant. Very attentive, nice, knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He was just everything you hope a waiter would be. My husband and I talked about him even after we left the restaurant and how we needed to write a review and mention him so he can get the credit he deserves. He made our experience outstanding. We shared a shrimp cocktail appetizer that was delicious. I had Scallops that were cooked perfectly over a bed of corn and bacon. It was awesome. My husband had a steak and he has told everyone we know that it might have been one of the best steaks he's ever had. We shared mashed potatoes which were so, so good. And asparagus. Let me tell you- everything was amazing. But there was so much food, we really should have just skipped the asparagus because I think we only ate a few pieces. But that's a testament to their portions. Daniel suggested cheesecake for desert. I wouldn't normally order desert but I am so glad we did. It was another amazing aspect to our dinner. Perfect cheesecake with a tart raspberry glace. So so good. Thank you for such a nice, romantic meal. The football aspect made my husband happy. He loved it. And I loved that the football theme wasn't cheesy or over the top. Very nice, elegant restaurant. We will be back! And hopefully Daniel will still be working! :)

Having been to many o'steakhouse in my lifetime, Shula's was a fine and fun dining experience. Our food was pretty good and the Crab Cake and Creme Brulee were the best foods of the night. I've had better steak elsewhere, but I would have eaten their crab cake all night long. Shula's provides a unique experience and exquisite wait staff that other places wish they could compare to. I'll go back on another venture in the future.

We dined her for lunch. The staff was SUPER nice and accommodating. The Mahi Mahi open faced sandwich? YUM! I am not a veggie fan but I am glad I ordered them as a side because they were buttery browned deliciousness. My friend chowed down her club sandwich saying it was one of the best she had ever eaten. We debated stopping here and I am so glad we did.

Get to know your servers and you can't go wrong. They remember you and they treat you well, which works very well in your favor if you frequent the Westin. The prices are high, but what do you expect from a hotel restaurant? Plus, hang around during the right times (the Combine or Big 10 tournament) and you're sure to see some famous faces. I love the crab cake sandwich, it might be my new go-to.

Atmosphere is fantastic. Very nice place if you want a romantic personal evening. Make sure you have plenty of time because the food ordering/delivery to table happened a little slower. Prices are about on par for a steak house. Wish parking was a little more convenient and cheaper. Food was very good and staff is very professional.

  • Adam B.

The staff is rude, arrogant and unfriendly. Coupled with the food, this place works hard to earn your one star review. I was really, truly shocked at how rude they were - it's a rare thing to walk into an expensive steakhouse and be rudely rebuffed by a bartender. Not cool Shula's and Westin. It'll make me think twice before I ever consider staying at a Westin or dining at any Shula's location... ever again.

We recently dined at Shula's for Devour Downtown and were less than impressed as compared to other fine steakhouse experiences we've had just down the street. I'm not sure if management was gearing up for the SuperBowl, if they brought on extra help for Devour or if they just simply had new staff working that night, but our waiter was dreadfully uniformed about the menu and seemed to be approaching panic all evening. He also brought me the wrong salad order. In the end, our meal wasn't too bad. However I expected more, especially given the premium price.

Stayed at the Westin just before Indy 500. Walked to St. Elmo's but couldn't even get a seat at the bar, so I came back here. Was pretty empty at 7 PM, so even as a single diner I got a great window table. Service was attentive. Ordered the bone-in ribeye, my favorite cut. It was just OK. A bit bland, and cooked at least to medium, maybe more - not the medium rare I ordered - which dried it out a bit. Tomato and mozzarella salad was way over-dressed, and I don't even remember the side. Nothing was terrible, just average - but at this price point I expect an exceptional steak and the rest of the meal should be at least decent. This is the second Shula's I have been to, and it was not as good as the first. Won't be back, as there are far better choices for steak at this price point.

Most people rave about this place, but it was very much a forgettable experience for me. The service wasn't particularly great. Not awful, but not great. The meal was totally forgettable. The ambiance and decor was nice. One day, I'll have to give this place another shot.

  • JD H.

Ok steaks...exceptional service and too pricey! I had a large filet that was good and a caesar salad that was average. This Shula's is very convenient as it is attached to the Westin. The service was 5 star but all in all its hard to not head over to steak Nirvana at St Elmo's when in Indy. Will I be back....most likely not. Only reason I went on this day was due to the Superbowl chaos. Great restaurant to have attached to your hotel....but Indy has much better to offer.

Review of the Bar & Breakfast only. The bar area is rather small with some lounge seating off to the side. Breakfast is the standard Westin/Starwood fare. Service is slow. If simply want a bagel-to-go, they're able to do that for you too (for $7).

I was mistaken to give Shula's a 3rd try. I ordered take-out and that process went pretty smoothly this time. I ordered shrimp cocktail and pan-seared salmon. Salmon STILL HAD SCALES ON IT. I was able to enjoy a couple bites but then bit onto something hard. I pulled out MULTIPLE FISH SCALES from my mouth and could not bring myself to finish. I had to spit it out because they were getting stuck in my mouth. They pride themselves of getting salmon from top-rated seafood providers and providing the highest quality of food but fail to even properly clean/inspect their food. Funny how that works out.

  • Jennifer S.

Most expensive worst meal ever... My steak was very overcooked. My husbands steak was undercooked. Asparagus side was charred and burnt. Mashed potatoes side had a nasty film over it, like it was old. Goes without saying, both sides were inedible. Service was good but they didn't ask why we didn't eat the food. Restaurant was empty on a Friday night at 7pm, that should've been out first indicator to turn and leave. At a $170 for dinner for two is a hard lesson to learn.

My first visit to Shula's and I was impressed. Everything was first rate. The appetizers were good. I was with a group and we ordered a variety. Not a bad appetizer to be found. But the showcase was the steak. I ordered the NY strip and it was perfect. It was among the best steak I have ever had. I know it sounds like hype, but it was. Seasoned perfectly and cooked spot on medium rare. Wait staff was excellent. Friendly and attentive without being over bearing. This is not a cheap restaurant, but no worse than other top end steakhouses. I felt I got my money's worth... and them some. Definitely recommend.

I was here in June. The hostess was not trained well and her comments put me off. But I sat anyway. Clay (I think his name was) was amazing...Made this meal great. Ordered the Ribeye, mashed potatoes and shrimp cocktail. Everything was amazing. When the manager heard the trouble I had when I got there, he offered a free dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I am not sure why it has received such bad reviews.

This steakhouse is in the Westin in downtown Indy. Since we were staying there, we decided to stop in for some drinks Friday night. Expensive, but location was great (;-P). Our waitress was good. There is a Yelp check-in deal for a free piece of cake. Which the employees don't seem to know about. But the manager followed through on it. And the cake was delicious (chocolate cake). We also stopped in Sunday morning for breakfast before check out. Again, an expensive buffet. Not sure the buffet was worth the price. The french toast sticks were stale/super hard. not super impressive.

Our group had a very disappointing evening. I had a group of customers of my company at the restaurant. The wait was very long. After an hour and a half some of the guys in my group complained. The manager was very rude to them and they ended up leaving without getting their dinner. Very bad evening. When I finally got my Filet it was very bad, dry and not a good flavor. I am hoping this was just a bad night.

Most steak restaurants are all the same. What we want from steak restaurant is a good steak . Shula's has good steaks. I stayed at the hotel in which this restaurant was a part of and went in and sat at the bar. The service was very good and the dinner was good as well I highly recommend it if you're in Indianapolis Indiana.

Shulas was pretty good, but terribly overpriced for what you get. I went there for lunch and the breakfast buffet. The buffet had a nice selection of your typical breakfast foods: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, french toast, homefries, etc. About $16/person for that, yikes!! For lunch I had the prime rib french dip with steak fries. It was good, but it tasted more like roast beef than prime rib which kinda disappointed me, especially for $17. Fries were good. I went here twice because it was convenient and I didn't have much time to kill given I was at the FDIC fire conference. Smells a bit strange in there too... Overall, an okay experience, just pricey. Service was friendly.

I ordered the filet mignon for lunch. It cost $24. It was okay. Definitely not $24 good. My waitress seemed very distracted and wasn't friendly. I don't think she smiled one time. It was my first time eating here and I'm pretty sure it was my last. There was nothing here I would care to try again..... Except maybe for the bread. The bread was excellent. The bread was a great first impression, but the steak and attitude of the waitress ruined it for me.

Disappointed in the service and quality of the meal. We had a group of 11 for dinner, we called for a reservation and got right in....then it started to go wrong. We ordered dinner and waited more than hour with no update on our meal. The manager came in, apologized and offered to take care of our meals to make up with it. Problem is that our food arrived Cole and more than half of the meals were undercooked. I really can't say that I would ever come here again.

I have to first preface that I went to Shula's for Devour Downtown and did not order off of the regular menu. For those of you unfamiliar with Shula's, it is a chain. I have never been to this Shula's prior to my visit; however, I have frequented their other establishments throughout my travels. Like most Shula's, this location is attached to the Westin Hotel. The layout is similar to others, as there is a full service bar and seating area and a regular dining area as well. Like most steakhouses, it had the traditional steakhouse vibe in that the lighting was low and there were wooden chairs that fit with the darker decor. The food was fine, but there wasn't anything memorable about it. Starting off with the shrimp cocktail, which include two jumbo shrimp with some cocktail sauce and some other white cream sauce. It just seemed average, and will seem like a let down to those who have had the pleasure of eating Harry & Izzy's or St. Elmo's Shrimp cocktail. For the main course, I opted for the 6 oz SHULA CUT® Filet Mignon with Béarnaise Sauce. The stake was cooked well, but I didn't care for the cut. The Béarnaise sauce was heavy. If you in the minority of people with celiac who gluten sensitivity react to distilled vinegar that are originally derived from gluten, I would avoid it. The best part of the meal was dessert. While there were no gluten free options on the menu, they did provide an alternative of berries and cream, which was light and sweat enough to provide the perfect ending to the meal. In short, Shula's is just OK.The service was good and attentive. They just don't wow me and there was nothing that stood out. There are other steakhouses out there that I would prefer to patronize

My steak was overcooked, wanted rare but got medium. My wife's steak's was undercooked wanted medium but got rare. Not a problem, they redo the steaks.Round 2 my steak was cold & raw & my wife's steak's was once again rare. Asparagus side was charred and burnt. Sauteed mushroom's were good so was the bread & the wine. Service was good from the buser & food runner but the waiter never came back. When the Manager(Katie) delivered our second set of steaks she was so embarrassed that the food was wrong again she would not let us pay for the bottle of wine.Thank you Katie. I have no problem paying for a $50.00 steak, Just please have someone in your kitchen that can cook it to order.I am giving three stars for the service and the management. Thank you for taking responsibility of a failed dinner.

We ate here several years ago and the filet was the single best piece of beef I have ever eaten. This time was horrible. The outside of the rare filet was burned. The crab Mac and cheese was not very flavorful. No kidding. The coffee was cold. I got coffee since it was cold in the restaurant. I really was disappointed because I was really looking forward to this.

Wow pretty unpolished servers for such a pricey establishment! The place is crazy expensive, and although the steaks are reportedly quite good, it looks and feels exactly like a generic hotel restaurant. We were served an incorrect cocktail and told that they were "out" of the much-vaunted chocolate souffle. How do you run out of a souffle that takes forty minutes to prepare? You don't have any eggs? You've run out of chocolate? Shula's has some special "souffle kit" they use to assemble the thing? You need all staff to loudly erect the breakfast buffet for tomorrow morning? Well, there's that . . . (The Grand Marnier creme brulee is OK, but none of the trio has the creamy-smooth consistency one expects from creme brulee. The chocolate lava mess dumped on a plate looks positively frightful but is tasty enough.) If you're going to pay these prices, go to Ruth's Chris or Capital Grill or Oceanaire or St. Elmo's or even Harry and Izzy's, where they've created the setting for a special occasion and trained their staff to ensure the guests receive one.

Fantastic! Arguably better than St. Elmos! We went here for a graduation celebration and it was delicious: steaks, creamed spinach, potatoes, asparagus, etc. Also, they had a large dessert menu as well: cheesecake, pies, creme brulee, ice cream, etc. Everything was delicious! Also, the restaurant holds a lot of views. We had a great view of the state capitol and the surrounding buildings. My family will definitely be visiting this restaurant again; however, we have to wait for a special occasion.

We held a conference at the hotel Shula's is in, so we had many people visiting the restaurant. They were very willing to work with us and take care of our people. The service they gave us was outstanding. While I didn't order steak, many did and they all said it was delicious. I ordered the scallops and they were exceptional. I thought the sides were a little on the tiny side. Not really enough to share with more than two people. They have a great wine menu as well.

Amazing food and experience! Started out with a martini and mojito with shrimp cocktail, salad, and fresh bread. Shared a bottle of red wine with porterhouse steaks, sauteed spinach, and lobster mac and cheese. Then we had the creme brulee trio with bailey's and after dinner drinks. One of my most favorite/filling meals that I've had in a while

previous reviews say that the bar service is slow. first this is true. As I sit down and waited over 5 minutes for a drink. But before walking out I noticed Clay the bartender was very busy making drinks for the restaurant as well as the bar and also serving food for the bar. So, I cut him some slack and I am glad I did. Excellent service, excellent oscar filet and roasted corn as well as ahi tuna. Just avoid the carrot cake. I was not a fan.

Another less than stellar dinner in Indianapolis Went in on Sunday around 7:00pm and the place was a tomb! It was freezing inside and the staff practically non- existent. Ordered one appetizer and a salad to start, after receiving the steak tips over salted , under cooked and lukewarm we cancelled the rest of our order and dined elsewhere. What a mess... But, guess we should not expect anything more from a chain

While I didn't have a steak here, the place is very nice. They have a lovely menu and a nice wine list. There really isn't a bad thing on the menu. We came a few times to have some cocktails in the bar and it was nice. The service is good and it was a nice place to have a drink that wasn't teeming with crazy people (i.e. Kilroy's). They serve breakfast in the morning, but I didn't partake in that so can't really speak to it. If you are staying in the hotel, it is a convenient place for a quality steak. You can also catch just about any game on TV, in the bar. Don't see what you are looking for? Just ask the bartender. This is a classy joint you won't regret spending some money in.

For a restaurant hotel, I have nothing but love for Shula's. I have never had a bad meal here nor a bad bottle of wine. They run a tight ship and the place is clean. When I get bored with my selections the wait staff is always informative and they don't seem put upon that I'm asking for guidance. Likewise the service here isn't laid back but it is efficient and fast. Because it gets pricey the place isn't jammed up at lunch time but for drinks and dinner it is a different story. The nice thing is I never have felt rushed to leave. I haven't had a bad steak here ever and this location is significantly better in several ways to their New York City location. If you feel like noshing, have a go at the bacon wrapped barbecued shrimp appetizer and resist the temptation to order a second helping and still have room for the entrees. I'd go for the shrimp alone if the steak wasn't so damned good. Even their salads a ginormous. Shula's does a great job at this location in particular.

So me and a colleague were in town for some business and staying at the Westin. We figured we would check out this place. Funny thing, we were coming down after a work out and literally walked in with our gym clothes (don't recommend doing that). We were still pleasantly greeted and when we took our seat we noticed the dress code was at a minimum business casual :-) Anyways, moving on to the food, we ordered an excellent plate of bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer. I do suggest that go easy on the appetizers since for true meat lovers, a lot of them look very appealing. Then we ordered an 8 oz ribeye and it was simply succulent. My friend ordered it medium rare and I ordered it well done. Both were great meals along with an order of grilled asparagus. My steak was succulent and had the perfect seasoning. The steaks are 40-45 days aged and the meat is so tender and savory. Then for dessert, we got some amazing meals. I got the ice cream with almond florentine. The almond florentine is a large think almond brittle that tastes simply scrumptuous with the nice creamy ice cream. My friend ordered a nice heart-warming apple crumb pie. We had a great meal and then we found out that this is a pilgrimage spot for meat lovers in Indianapolis. I will definitely revisit if I am ever in town again. The service staff was very friendly and the food simply excellent.

SO disappointed with the experience myself and the group I was with tonight had. We went here just for drinks with friends and family after a rehersal dinner at the Westin and were blown away with the most rude server I have ever come across. First, our table was ordering drinks and one of us asked for the draft beer on tap...& the server, actually Cameron was his name, said we don't have that and then our friend got confused and he responded with "Miss do you want a drink or not" and stormed off. We waited for about 20 minutes for the drinks ... He never came. My boyfriend and I approached him and asked why he hadn't returned with our order. Cameron said that he was not going to serve our table and went off on us. It blew us away, none of us were drunk and we we're being very friendly. Then others in a party heard about this and stood up for our group, that's when Cameron told one of our friends to "go fu*k yourself" and called someone else a bit*h... Other customers not even in our group complained on how we were treated. Just awful. Will never go here again, and if you value customer service I recommend you try another steakhouse in Indy.

The food was fantastic, the service was amazing, but the atmosphere left something to desire. I was hoping for a nice, quite, dim lighted table where the only voices we heard were my wife and I's. We were sat in the middle of the steakhouse against the wall facing the bar area. The bar area was extremely loud and active, which is great, but not if you are trying to have a quite romantic evening. The food was some of the best, in fact, I ordered the New York Strip and it was the best I have ever had. The service is exactly what you would expect, table was cleaned 3 or 4 times thru out our dining experience. Our glasses were never half empty and the staff was very polite. I would recommend you ask to be seated at the very back of the restaurant so you are not captivated by all the hustle and bustle of the bar area.

At first glance, this is your typical upscale steakhouse.. staff is decked-out in black and white, decor is mostly wood and white table cloths, and the steak is as expensive as it gets. Aside from the basic high quality cuts of meat, this steakhouse doesn't stack up to it's peers. I'm all for interesting twists on food and playful decor, but a football for a menu is a bit kitschy even if it is owned by Shula. (You don't see a menu on a basketball at Jordan's). The table is introduced to the meat via presentation of cellophane wrapped display meat. They just started to offer sauces in addition to your steak. I had the filet with the port wine sauce, but found that it tasted more like jam. Steak quality and cooking is as described. Appetizers of lobster bisque were reportedly missing the bisque. I would have recommended the BBQ shrimp (their signature app). On the second floor of the Westin hotel, you'll have a nice view of downtown from much of the dining room. 3 stars for decent steak, 2 off for service and the football. I haven't met a sports-themed restaurant I've liked thus far. These guys should stick to sports.. but I guess if it brings in the dough, I'd be hawking steaks with my name on them too.

From start to finish, our experience Shula's was a disaster. Our party of 7 came to celebrate my wife's birthday. Multiple fumbles including no drinks, wrong drinks, long waits for entrees, over and under cooked items, and absent, unengaged server. Ugh! Poorly managed restaurant. We would have spent twice as much $ on food, desserts, and drinks but our experience so bad we left hungry and celebrated at home. The only positive was the crunchy bread was outstanding. I may buy in the future to carry out.

Samir and Blake are AWESOME. I brought a client in at 7:00 pm and were in our seats by 7:02. The service was incredible and very professional. The food came out perfectly and the timing was on point. We really enjoyed the presentation of the meat selection and guidance through the menu for suggestions that complimented our choices. I have been to many steakhouses across the country, and almost all the steak places in Indianapolis, but this is by far the most reasonably priced, well prepared and memorable meals that either of us had enjoyed. I know that if I'm in the area again, I will be back! Jeff C.

Like the previous review by "moistandchewie", this review is for breakfast only. Actually it is 2 reviews. We had eaten here 2 years ago, and like all hotel restaurants it was pricey. We ordered off the menu (forgoing the buffet) and it was very good. 4 stars. We had breakfast here recently on a return visit and had the $20 breakfast buffet. Below average food but good coffee and excellent service. 2 stars. They offer a continental for $10 if you are on a budget...or you could go to the Starbucks on the lower level and save even more. Final advice: If you go here for breakfast, order off the menu.

Terrible experience. They were located in our hotel and the hotel advertised their breakfast buffet, so we decided to try it. There was barely anyone in the restaurant. The hostess was very rude and told us it would be a minute because she would have to bus a table in order for us to sit down. We watched her bus the table for 20 minutes! By that time several other people were waiting. Lots of people got mad and left. Then when she was done she gave the table to someone who came in after us. The food wasn't that good, not a large variety and terribly expensive. Not what you expect from an upscale restaurant. If they had a good manager who knew how to run an upscale restaurant and a friendly staff they could be doing 10 times more business from the amount of people we saw come in and get mad and walk out. Advice to the general manager- fire the entire staff that was working the morning of 11/9/14 and hire better people you will gain a lot more business.

Let me just say that I hated my experience at Shula's. We were staying at the Westin where the Shula's is the hotel restaurant and we had a handful of 5 dollar vouchers from the green choice program. We were seated but an unwelcoming blonde and they places a painted football on a orange tee on the plate in front of me where I sat. The football had the cuts of steaks on it and I felt it so forced and dirty sitting there. They came and gave us the nonsense speech about how special the Shula cut of steak is and blah blah blah. They are sooo fancy. I ordered a 37 lamb chop and my colleague got the 42 dollar 12oz filet. One of our two waiters kept trying to get me to buy a bottle of wine and after I said I wasn't interested she suggested I keep my wine glass "just in case I change my mind." We also ordered the 7 dollar broccoli side and 7 dollar potato hash browns. Maybe the meat is super special and old man Shula has a high standard for it but it was completely unseasoned. I mean cooked meat on a white plate. It had nothing special about it what so ever. My lamb was the most flavorless lamb I've had anywhere and the filet was the same. I had to put the butter from the bread (which I decided was the best thing about the meal) and salt and pepper on my meat to help it. For 37 dollars I shouldn't have to season my own food. For that price the little baby lamb should be grazing by my table and when I order him he should commit hari-kiri right there and french his little chops before he hits the ground. The broccoli was a quarter of a head and was just plain steamed. Once again no flavor. I had to add the bread butter to these too along with salt and pepper. The hash browns were so mushy and greasy under the crisp top I couldn't even eat it. If you don't have much of a palate and are spending the company money go to Shula's. If you are looking for an honest to goodness good meal, go somewhere else. Skip this snooty old man place.

in LA i expect to pay a lot for valet and dinner and to get superb service. in atlanta i expect to not pay a lot for dinner, have my valet ticket validated for free, and receive the worst service around. in indy you can expect a fair mix. couple dollars for valet. strong drinks evenly priced. lots of space and fairly attentive staff. go in the front, walk up the stairs to the left, bar and restaurant is on the second floor.

Good, but not special. I only get to drop a couple of hundred bucks in dinner once or twice a year and I left Shula's feeling a little disappointed. Service was OK, but not polished. Food was OK, but nothing to write home about. Free desert to commemorate our anniversary was VERY thoughtful, but a little dry. With a little attention to detail, Shula's could be a really great place to celebrate a special occasion, but for now I would recommend it for business dinners and drinks with the boys.

One word: Awful This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. To start, we had a medium-sized group (the restaurant was 30% full at *best*) - and we were first crammed into a couple tables that were shoved together that would have forced people to share an end - which simply made no sense (again, the place was pretty empty). So we asked to move to a larger table - this seemed to piss off the waiter/staff. We ordered three combination seafood appetizer plates and the reviews were universal: the shrimp were overcooked and then rolled in some sickly-sweet BBQ sauce; the crab cakes were doughy and had more filling than crab; and the calamari were also overcooked and greasy. Needless to say, these platters sat half-eaten (at best), but the waiters took no notice. They just didn't seem to care whether we had a good dining experience or not. There is no sommelier; wine requests needed to be made to the waiter when you could find him. Unfortunately, the four wines that were ordered were all different than the ones listed in the wine book - and again, the waiter took no notice of this as he uncorked them - then seemed miffed when we pointed out that they were different. Clearly, there's a gap between service excellence and what Shula's provides - at Shula's, you get what they give you. Period. OK, this is supposed to be a top-steahouse, right? Well four out of the five steaks that arrived to diners around me were overcooked. At a steakhouse! And when three people asked to have their steaks re-cooked properly (per what they'd requested, e.g., medium-rare), the waiter argued with the people. The rest of us were afraid to ask - we figured they'd start spitting on our food. Sides were overcooked and ghastly. Potatoes were inedible. Bottom line: This was simply an awful dining experience with awful food. There's no excuse for serving over-cooked steaks at a fine-dining steakhouse. Luckily, there are five really good steakhouse restaurants down the street - we recommend you stick with one of those. There's a reason that this restaurant has available seating - because the food and service are terrible. Don't waste your money.

I came here to get some work done with some coworkers because it was raining outside and we needed a chill night to work. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and it was really bad and my friend ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and he didn't even finish it. We are big eaters and to not finish something is a pretty big statement. I am not very hard to please and I definitely was not pleased with my meal there. The service was ok. The iced tea also tasted kind of weird. I was expecting something much better!

The bread was a great first impression, but the steak and attitude of the waitress ruined it for me.

previous reviews say that the bar service is slow. first this is true.

It'll make me think twice before I ever consider staying at a Westin or dining at any Shula's location... ever again.

Jeff C.

Steak was ok. The service was very slow. The Ambulance was nice and the service was good.

One day, I'll have to give this place another shot.

in LA i expect to pay a lot for valet and dinner and to get superb service. in atlanta i expect to not pay a lot for dinner, have my valet ticket validated for free, and receive the worst service around. in indy you can expect a fair mix. couple dollars for valet. strong drinks evenly priced. lots of space and fairly attentive staff. go in the front, walk up the stairs to the left, bar and restaurant is on the second floor.

Nice restaurant. A tad expensive for what you get but the food was good. The service was spectacular and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I think I shall return...

My stay at the Westin was topped off with a Kansas City Steak from Shula's. Service was on point and gave us some advice on the night life. Nap town was cool city to kick in.
