Sooo disappointing. This is the worst Scotty's (Indy) location. Thank God I work on the North side and can go to the one on 96th St. for the good food and excellent service because neither of those are available at this Southport location. Each of the 3 times I've been there (there won't be a 4th) I've had slow, crappy service and even slower food that was cold and otherwise of poor quality. The wait staff really seem to get along well, since you can see them standing around talking while they ignore you, even while making eye contact with them and waiving (a simple waive, not frantic.) I finally gave up and went to the bar for my iced tea refill and walked into the service line of the kitchen to interupt just to get the dressing that didn't come with my salad once it finally (45 mins?) got delivered by a snotty server that wasn't working our table. No reason to be nice when it's not your tip on the line, right? ;) Don't go here. If you must have what should be their great beer and burgers either go to the one downtown or on 96th St. Maybe if you sat AT the bar, you could get decent service, but doubt it... Managers seem indifferent and care free here too. Lame.

Solid place for a beer and a bite to eat. Scotty's is always very convenient for me since it's directly next door to the hotel I always stay in when in Indy. I try to watch my waistline, on occasion, and enjoy the Veggy burger and a cup of chicken dumpling soup... all for under 450 calories. BOTTOM LINE: A perfect stop for a business traveler looking for a good beer and burger... and make sure to ask bartender Mike about his 17 year old Jack Russell. That's 119 in dog years!

Excellent, unique burgers. Great beers. I travel for work and was staying near the restaurant. I was looking for a place to eat Sunday night after my flight and stumbled upon this place. I tried the twisted pretzel burger and it was really good. The meat seemed to be fresh or the patties hand-formed. I'm not sure but it was good. Came back a few days later and had the bacon jalapeño and peanut butter burger. Was very unique and the peanut butter kinda tames the heat of the jalapeño. Also, I suggest the double ipa. That's my favorite out of what they had.

I really love this place. The bar tenders are such a delight. Even though I've only been here 7 times Emily calls me by name and has since my first visit. Nice touch. The service is prompt and friendly. I only sit at the bar so I can't speak about the table service. I see an awful lot of servers so I can't imagine that the service is anything but good. The microbrews that I have tried are absolutely delicious. My favorite is the pale ale. The black bean pattie sandwich is absolutely scrumptious. I love it with the buffalo or the sriracha. Actually everything I have ordered has been quite good and now when I'm in Indy I stay at one of the nearby hotels just so I can come here. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon this local gem.

Stopped here on a Saturday night this Spring and couldn't have been more pleased. We had about 15 of us, about half adults and half kids. We were sat next to the 'kids corner' which was great for our 3 or 4 younger ones. The teens sat by themselves and were taken care of by the waitstaff. Food options on the menu was huge! I ended up with the hot chicken on a salad entree which worked out super with the several ales I tried. Great selection of microbrews! We stayed an extra longtime because of a downpour outside, but never felt rushed to leave. Everyone had a good time, and this place is definitely on our list of places to go back to when in the area again.

I was really disappointed eating here. I have been to Scotty's on the Northside and the one downtown and had excellent food at those locations. Here not so much. We tried the fish tacos and the buffalo chicken wrap. The tacos lacked flavor and the buffalo wrap was over spiced drowning in sauce. The volume of food was very large but we all left with a meh.. feeling which was surprising. The service was very friendly and prompt so absolutely no complaints there.

Got the special $2 street tacos. Dry,dry, dry chicken. Do not recommend! Must use leftover for this dish. Service was great. Hats off to Kellie!

Bad job tonight guys. Cold fries, cold pulled pork sandwich, beer was same temperature as most of the food. Saw the waitress once and the place isn't even full.

It's Scotty's, man! Maybe those who eat away from the bar area experience a problem, but I never have. Inside the bar area, I've been treated better than well. The beer is always cold. Samples are always at the ready. I get what I ordered quickly. It's always as expected. The deals offered for beer are great. (Though, I would go so far as to say that if you're not a beer person, Scotty's probably isn't (never was) a place for you.) Scotty's doesn't get a 5 simply because it does have too much of the "chain" feel. If it were as unique as 3 Wise Men in it's setup and ambiance, it would have 5 all the way. Keep rocking Scotty's South! Hopefully, I can hang on to my title as Duke.

I had been wanting to try Scottys for a while and finally got the chance last Friday for lunch. I got the appetizer platter with fried pickles, pretzel breadsticks, buffalo chicken strips and loaded waffle fries. (Nothing else on the menu really looked appetizing) the pickles were greasy and were clearly frozen just 30 minutes ago. The breadsticks were over cooked and the waffle fries had waaaaay too much cheese. The service was great at the bar but then again I was one of maybe seven people in the entire place. I would not recommend Scottys.

Giving Scotty's 3 stars for the following reasons: Pro's - The food is pretty good! And pretty good value options to make it really reasonably priced. Had buffalo chicken sandwich and it was great, except the waitress or cooks messed up my request to have it done w mild and have an extra side of hot and mild sauce So here are the cons!: -Waitress, adorable - but not good... Just not experienced - wait time was unacceptable to get someone to even acknowledge us -Table next to us had a horrible experience ..all their food got brought out at the same time (apps, salads, entree and dessert) - and the 'serving manager- who was all of 10yrs old (no experience!) was an idiot in handling the situation! Finally what recouped this - was the main manager that had been there 3 days! They have a lot of work to do w this place... I like the one downtown Indy and Bloomington- but this location needs help

Visited Scottys for dinner, was ok. Staff was friendly. Service was a little slow....food was average. It's a lot like TGIFridays. Would I go back? Sure

Great burgers and great beer, what else could you ask for? Plenty of TVs on for sports as well. Staff was very friendly as well. Will tell everyone that this is the place to go on the south side!

Great food spice stack sandwich was great not too much heat, chicken sandwich was good also. Good beer selection.

I have had a better experience at Scotty's downtown. The burger that I ordered was very small and my beans and rice side looked like it was microwaved. The service was okay. The waitresses flip flopped back and forth. We'll keep going to the downtown location.

I have been to the Scotty's Brewhouse downtown several times and never had a bad meal. I was very excited to see that a location had opened in Southport. I had the mo'fo buffalo chicken sandwich. I was disappointed in the sandwich - It seemed to me that only half of a chicken breast was used and it was then pounded flat to make it fit on the bun. Most of what was in this sandwich appeared to be breading. The flavor was very good, but the amount of chicken on this sandwich is nowhere near being enough for the price of this sandwich.

Even when traveling, I prefer to patronize local businesses. Rolled in to Indianapolis area late one night and this was about all that was open near my hotel. Walked in and sat at the bar to converse with a sassy bartender with an attitude who took way too long to acknowledge I sat down ready to order some food and some beer. Their beer selection was OK, and the beer recommended to me by the manager on duty was a good beer. BUT, the food on the other had, was absolute crap. My co-worker had their wings (I couldn't even get past the terrible sauce) which was a shame they ruined good chicken in their supposed fiery hot sauce. It tasted like a well seasoned spaghetti sauce. If they put some of it on a plate of spaghetti it would be some bomb ass pasta. I had this weak grilled cheese (barely any cheese, a tiny piece of bacon on each sandwich halve) and a disgusting cole slaw. I was so disappointed in the meal itself I didn't even take the scraps to go. I hope my next trip to Indianapolis will warrant further exploration for a different local brewhouse.

Nice place to hang out with friends. I love their patio.. Service is a little slow. They should have more people taking care of the patio..

On Sunday we had a wonderful experience at Scotty's. I visit the downtown location pretty frequently but had yet to visit the Southside location and was pleasantly surprised with the superb service. There was only a small delay of our food coming out and the manager Luke immediately came out to apologize. He also let us know he took care of our bill. Our waiter Logan was an attentive server and kept our drinks filled. We will definitely be returning soon.

Personally I will not be going back service stunk I had to ask for refills multiple times before I got it...food was way over cooked I asked for my burger to be medium rare and it was a burnt.... not to mention I told my server I ordered med rare with swiss cheese and he blew me off.. a guest of mine ordered the Philly burger and they brought him out a plain hamburger. It took a total of 3 hours to get dinner which is crazy...I asked for my bill after appetizers cause it was already 45 min and was told my food is coming out next...which it took an additional 45 min. I ASKED FOR A MANAGER which was not there.... I called the manager of the store the next morning cause he was not there and he even blew me off...I think for spending 150 dollars on 8 people food should come out they way I ordered it....

    1. Did not put our name in when we checked in. Said it was 25 min wait. New guy took our name and put into "new fangled" ipad. Apparently something went wrong and after 25 minutes of waiting I approached the desk to realize our name was actually not in the system. 2. Appetizer and meal came out at same time, even though Kathryn did a great job confirming that we wanted the appetizer first. The person (who was not Kathryn) who delivered our meals immediately following the other person who had just dropped off our appetizer seemed unconcerned when we mentioned that we wanted them separately. 3. Our food got cold since we had been served the appetizer and meal at same time. 4. Once we did get to the meal, we realized the buffalo chicken wrap was just chicken with no lettuce, tomato, or ranch. Kathryn did a great job getting us a plate of lettuce and tomato and a side of ranch so we could build our meal ourselves. Just like home! 5. The manager refused to come talk to us, even though Kathryn said she asked him to. We were sitting right next to the kitchen, and we could clearly see she asked him fervently and we watched him stand at the line and not come to our table. 6. We paid the full price for all items ordered even though this was a unsatisfactory experience. Also, no one said goodbye or anything when we left. Again, NONE of the problems were Kathryn's fault so we gave her a good tip because, honestly, she seemed to actually care that problems were happening. Seemed like nobody else did, even/especially the manager. Kathryn should be the manager of this location. The current manager should be relegated to work the ipad at the door. Good luck in the future. God speed. PS - Oh yeah, and our favorite appetizer we ordered, the dill chips, were fried in clumps together so they came out mushy and only fried on the outside of one side of the pickle. Nasty and floury tasting.

So glad Scotty's is back on the south side of Indy! This place is great for everyone - it's so tough to find a "grown up" place that is good for kids too. They give the kids a healthy appetizer until their food arrives, which is wonderful. But the food is awesome too. we don't drink, but they seem to have a really solid bar that everyone enjoys. They also offer carry out which is big for us and for this area.

Thrilled to have Scotty's back in Southport! Food is always great and it's a fun place to watch just about any sports channel (or just hang with your friends). Received excellent service from Shawn last night. We will be back...frequently!

I used to love going to Scotty's Brewhouse... the last couple times were just horrible. However we decided to give it another shot seeing the Southport location is back in action. First off, we were seated quickly which I appreciated. The waiter was very friendly and was knowledgeable of the menu. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the siracha pork tacos were delicious. That was about the only good part. The food took forever to get out, at one point I felt maybe they had forgotten about us. When the food finally came out my fries were cold, and we never received our loaded waffle fries. When someone came over we were already halfway through our meal. So the manager came over and took care of it. Which was nice. I then ordered a half baked chocolate chip cookie to go. You would think a description of a half baked cookie it'd be hot, gooey and delicious. When I got to the car to check it out, it was cold and hard. I mean really?? How is that half baked? Anyways that was the icing on the cake for me. Not to mention it is rather pricey. I was just overall disappointed. Might give it another chance when they get it together, but it won't be for a long while. Especially since this isn't the first time we've had bad service.

My wife and I just moved back to Indy.. One of our first pit stops... Scottys!! I didn't live up to my expectations as it had been a couple years since I had had it. This location is HUGE and they can fit a large amount of people in here. The parking lot was PACKED but we walked in and were seated immediately. Our server was dealing with another issue so he was tied up when we first got there, someone else took our order. He finally learned to multitask and came back to try and re-take our order. No big deal, but the drinks did take a bit to come out and he wasn't even sure that i received the right beer. (neither was I as I'd never had what I ordered) Atmosphere - it's cool if you're with a group of people and want to yell at them across the table.. or not talk at all. What I'm getting at.. It's LOUD, but a cool industrial look. The food - Typical Scotty's. It was good and hit the spot, but nothing amazing. Price - a bit overpriced for what you get in my opinion. my wife and I each had a wrap, me a small her a beer, lemonade. $42 before the tip. A bit steep in my opinion for the type of food, ambiance and service. OH... i almost forgot thte $9 dill pickle chips. Good.... Matter of fact, I love them.. But not for $9. We will be back to take advantage of the happy hour specials.. but probably not too often if we miss happy hour. Great place to go with the friends for happy hour.

I haven't written a review before now because I really wanted to give this place a shot and didn't want to slam them for issues related to being new. But I've been there several times now and it's the same every time. The consistently low ratings everyone else is giving already say it all. Here's the one line version: Mediocre food at high prices with poor customer service and limited hours. Regarding the suggestion of this as an alternative to a chain restaurant, this is a chain restaurant. You might as well go to Cheeseburger in Paradise if you think you're getting a local experience.

I'm baffled by all of the horrible reviews that the southside Scotty's has received! Most of the southside of Indy is full of gross, generic, overpriced chain restaurants. I was thrilled when I found out that Indy-based Scotty's was opening a new location smack in the middle of Southport - most well known for all of it's chain restaurants, like O Charley's and Bob Evans and Longhorn. Do yourself a favor, and the next time you are considering one of those national chain restaurants, give Scotty's a try. They have a massive menu full of every type of food imaginable - burgers, wraps, tasty appetizers, hearty entrees, cold draft beers, and fresh desserts. We had great, quick service last weekend despite the huge crowd that was at Scotty's to watch either IU or ND football games. I had the buffalo chicken mac and cheese, and it was one of the creamiest, heartiest, spiciest dishes I have ever had. My husband had the "Confused Buffalo Burger" - a bison burger covered with buffalo chicken dip, and it was one of his favorite burgers he said he had ever had. I heard that the place was still working out its kinks when it first opened over the summer. Well, all the kinks are gone, and this is the best place for quick, tasty food and a cold beer while you watch a game on the southside. It isn't expensive, but if you get an appetizer, a sandwich, and a beer, be prepared to pay $15-20 per person. If you go this route, you will be stuffed - portion sizes are huge, and all of the side dish options are great (especially the tater tots or mac and cheese). If you just get a meal, you can be at $10 or under per person.

Remember hearing about King Midas as a kid? Well, he is alive and well in 2012. He lives in Indianapolis and his name is Scott Wise. No, he is not the same Scott Wise who won a Tony Award in 1989. I'm talking about the Indiana restaurateur who turns everything he touches into gold. Scotty has ventured to the south side and I'm sure he will have just as much success there as he has in other parts of the city and state. The food is decent but not exceptional. I know there will be growing pains, but forgetting the bacon and pickles, serving cold fries, and charging more than the price on the menu, will not get you high marks. Oh, and they also can't run the Scotty's VIP card, but promise to make a note and give you credit in the future. Not nearly good enough for what is now a chain restaurant handling something called a "VIP" card. I'm sure this location will eventually bring out the quality found in the Scotty's brand. That is, OK food with a good beer selection that is a little overpriced. I have been going to the Scotty's joints for years so I will be back and I'm sure they will step up their game.

Came here for the friends and family opening and found it had a great vibe and seemed more cozy than the other Scotty's locations. The tap list is fantastic with 24 taps and lots of craft options, including the Thr3e Wise Men brews all the way down on the southside. I recommend the dill chips and anything with MoFo sauce is a winner in my book! Go now, enjoy large portions and have a great time with the whole family watching the latest sporting event at the many TVs!

We met some friends that we have not seen in years here on the way back home from a road trip. The facilities were adequate for the gathering but unfortunately the service was not. Specifically the food service. One half of our group received their meals, the other half did not. When the other half finally did receive meals, they were at least an hour late. What was ordered you might ask? A burger and nachos. The nachos were served last. There was not even meat on them!? The manager? Gave us some comp chips and salsa for the delay prior to receiving the food which was cool; but by the time the same guy brings the food, he mentions taking some off the bill for the delay, I freak out and point out the obvious. To the manager's? credit, he comps the entire party's bill ($90). We leave the waitress a $30 tip (easy money). I can only judge this location (have not been to the others). Am told downtown is waaay better. You be the judge, but what I do know, I ain't ever coming back to this joint and would be SHOCKED if they remained in business long. Here's hoping to I was the fluke ;-) Cheers. P.S. I tried the bourbon beer - tasted just like a lager in a whiskey barrel. OK if you like that.

Dropped in cause the place is by my hotel. Got the peanut burger, shewman I believe Tasty, the burger. Broccoli was good for a meat place. Would come back but will try other places first. service is fine

After reading the reviews I was scared I was going to have a bad experience, but I didn't. The beer (golden Zoe) was very good; hop flavor without the harsh bitter. The food was also very good. I will be back for the beer.

The south side Scotty's is definitely not on par with the downtown and north side locations. This one has a very limited menu with a lack of variety. The decor is boring. The only plus was that the service was good. If you really really are craving the Scotty's experience go visit another location just not the south side location.

Scotty's was recommended to us by the staff at Raelynn's (thank goodness for "locals!"). My girls loved the technology & the food. After dress shopping we really loved (needed?!) their great beer. It was louder than I hoped for & the waiter was a bit chatty, but it's a fun place for families.

Our Thursday night dinner group tried Scotty's a couple of weeks ago. We sat on the very-small (non-smoking) patio. The beer was great, as was the potato soup. They were very low on beer-mugs, so we had to wait a bit longer on our next rounds. We had a good time, but we'll probably stick with Mucky Duck or Cheeseburger in Paradise when we are in the area.

Enjoyed excellent service on a Saturday afternoon. Had the Schewman special and it was great. Our server kept our drinks full and checked back multiple times. The Manager stopped by to check on as well.

Not the quality of food like the downtown location. Plenty of staff around but service not good. Waited over 20 mins for drink refills. Wings were rather dry and little sauce on them. Will prob wait awhile before I come back. Maybe they will be better.
