There's really few better spots for a Happy Hour adventure than Sahm's Tavern. The location is convenient for most who work downtown and parking is easy. Their $2.62 menu that is available from both 3-6 pm and 9 pm - midnight every day is delicious. They have any slider you could want - the Clint Eastwood is my favorite. Wings are good too, as are the mini shrimp cigars. Sahm's also has great daily drink specials and is especially fun for after work drinks when you can sit outside. Their Moscow Mules are my favorite - but on my last visit they were out of the copper cups. Apparantley people have been stealing them? Who knew copper was in such high demand? Their regular menu reminds me of other Sahm's locations - wide variety of salads, entrees, sandwiches, etc. Definitely a place to check out in downtown Indy when wanting to avoid the larger crowds on event weekends or when wanting to get off the roads most travelled.

Good local restaurant with several locations across town. The menu offers a wide variety of options from casual to more upscale options. The bar features a good tap selection of local and Midwest craft beer selections.

Very good place for a late lunch. Around noon the seating is very limited so go early or late. The food is very good and fresh. They also use local vendors and have fresh cut fries with the sandwiches. Free parking and a good selection of beer also.

The chicken and shrimp gumbo is delicious! It has just the right amount of spice. Typically, I'm the guy who orders everything extra spicy.... I'm glad I didn't. Space is very limited, so I can imagine how busy it gets during the week. A nice size beer selection. A true tavern.

Great place - great happy hour with mini burgers of all sorts and really knowledgable bar tenders. Thumbs up (again).

I love the sahms tavern. It's one of the places in town where the servers know my husband and i. It's the kind of spot with the kind of classic American food to suit any taste. Their salads are excellent, sandwiches are also great on homemade bread that is out of this world. Entrees are a mixed bag, stir frys being my personal favorite, they also do chicken well. Recently they've expanded the beer list and made it really local and phenomenal, but full bar with good weekly drink specials. The spots location in the Gibson building makes it packed for lunch but a great spot for dinner or weekends,as its super close to downtown but actually has a parking lot. Also, don't miss the coffee cake. What better way to reward yourself for that salad?!

Wide variety of menu choices all of which are pretty good at least the many I've tried. I've never had bad service or food here. You can't go wrong having lunch or dinner here as there is something for everyone.

Love this little place! Whether you're looking for a quick cafe lunch, a carry-out order that's actually delicious, or a sit-down meal, Sahm's is one of the most underrated places downtown. First of all, free parking right downtown. Secondly, super cheap lunch specials that are both delicious and filling. Personally, I adore the fish tacos (possibly my favorite in the city) and that meatloaf melt sandwich. Omg. Delicious! And so cheap! Had a lunch special today for $5.99. Every time I bring someone here, they love it, too. I also love that their sides are tasty and also healthy. Sure, you can have seasoned fries, but for no additional charge with my lunch special today, I had sides of watermelon and cottage cheese or pasta salad. A small thing, but it's absence drives me nuts! I have lunch meetings or quick lunches in the take-a-number cafe, and for more private lunches, I try to snag one of the booths in the Tavern. This place can get busy!

The only disappoint is that I've lived down the street for over two years now and first tried this awesome spot last night. The menu had a wide variety but my favorite was the $2.62 menu. Was able to get an incredible Mahi taco, three hot wings, and a side salad: each under $3. I can't wait to return!

I always have delicious food here. I'm eating nachos tonight. I live how each chip is loaded individually. The burgers are awesome. It's hard to decide which side I like the best. I just recently tried the carrot curls - they are thin, crispy, salty and sweet. Parking is easy too which us always a bonus when you come downtown.

I had been eyeing this place for weeks since it's the second closest restaurant to my house. It delivers! An expansive menu feature typically American bar food, but also with fancier items (creatively prepared shrimp dishes, primo cut steaks, and even stir fries). We opted for cheese curds, which were a bargain at $2 (I think they have a "tapas" style menu at certain hours, as another person mentioned). The wings were excellent, though they could have been spicier in my book. The local beer selection is great, and they have fun drink specials most nights (as far as I could tell). Servers were cool; more like your friends than standoffish, typical wait staff. As a final, additional plus, despite being a crowded tavern with many drinkers even at 5:30pm, the men's restroom was spotless, almost shockingly so! The only reason I'm knocking them a star is because I reserve my "5-star" places as those that absolutely nail everything. I will definitely be back to this place (and likely very frequently), but I'm not going to tell you it's the best restaurant in the city either. Free parking, beer from all over the midwest, classic American dishes, some with a unique twist, definitely try it out if you are downtown. Nice patio, too.

Great place for lunch or a nice dinner. They play great music in the background and it's NOT loud. bartenders and wait staff are incredibly friendly and food is great. Try their grilled chicken sandwich and fish tacos.

Visited Sahm's Tavern for happy hour with a group of people and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and accommodating staff. They have drinks specials everyday and also between 3-6 appetizers for $2.42! I will definitely be back! I think the appetizer specials start again at 9-11.

DEVOUR DOWNTOWN REVIEW: I think this place is nothing special. Their devour downtown menu looked really good and I've never been, so I decided to try this place out. 1st course: we got the mushroom caps. Very yummy, I was pleased. 2nd course: I ordered the Pan Seared Mahi Mahi with Jalapeno and Caper Hollandaise. I can't resist sometihng that has jalapenos in it (and I love fish). It was mediocre. I thought the fish was rather salty, and the side of mashed potatoes were good, but nothing special. I did like the sauce though. Sure, it tasted good, but it's not something I'd go back again for. 3rd course (dessert): We ordered the bread pudding, and we decided to try out their 'famous' sour cream coffee cake. Both were okay. Once again, nothing special. I couldn't think of a better place that is just A-OK. But hey, it wasn't terrible.

I went here for dinner with friends and ordered the Mediterranean salad with salmon and it was very filling. The greens had a good variety, no iceberg, and the fish had been lightly blackened. My friends got the fish and chips and a pasta dish. Both were delicious according to them. The thing that really sold me was the pumpernickel bread they serve with all entrees. It was fresh out if the oven and nothing beats fresh bread. They also have a decent selection of whiskeys. Good place to go if you're wanting to eat good food, drink and chill in a classy way.

Devour downtown menu was awesome. We had the pork ribeye which was succulent sans the mushroom gravy. We also had the sirloin bavette cooked medium well to perfection with steak frites. Great ambiance!

There are so many cool place in Indy that it is hard to try them all. However, if you're near Sahm's Tavern, you'll be glad you stopped by. The place is small, but full of regulars--which is a good sign. The bartenders are all cool and the place has a nice menu. They have decent specials as well. Soon, they will have a pizza spot next door. I hope they offer up the same menu in both spots. Pizza would totally go well with the burgers and traditional American bar fare. I'll likely be a regular at this spot. See you there! ;)

This place is becoming another favored downtown hangout for a nightcap after my falling out with Bourbon Street (too smoky). First, you will notice the plentiful, free parking (always a plus downtown). The space itself is small but has a neat, classy vibe to it. I've been here 4-5 times and it is never that crowded. The crowd skews older making this a good place to just chat and socialize with your own crew, without being bothered by the frattitude of places like Kilroy's and Scotty's. They have nightly drink specials and decent stuff on tap including Flat 12 and Sun King. I'm also a huge fan of the 2 dollar sliders and other finger foods, great eats for a late night snack. For a small place, I appreciate that they have large televisions, great place to watch a game or two. The entrees are large and definitely try the soups, nice and hearty. One caveat: although the staff is nice, I feel like the service leaves a lot to be desired. It is almost never a busy place and yet they tend to ignore your table for long periods of time so be forewarned. Bottom line: great place for a low-key night with friends with a surprisingly varied 2 dollar menu!

My boyfriend and I ate here for Devour Downtown. The three course meal was fantastic, I loved the key lime pie. The service was a little slow, but it was very busy and we had an hour wait to be seated, but it is a fairly small place and especially with Devour Downtown going on and also a Saturday night I expected it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the place has a nice ambiance, and lets not forget the ample free parking!

Bottom line: food was decent, service was awful. The restaurant downtown is smaller than you would think but there is free parking for sure. My friend and I had to wait to be seated and ended up getting two bar stools after fifteen minutes. We did the 2 for $30 Devour Downtown menu but we had to flag people down first to even get drinks and second to actually order. When we did order the appetizers (shrimp cigars) came out promptly and was very nice. They were fried but not soaked in oil which is always a plus. Our entrees were about to come out and the barhand comes out and says that the restaurant ran out of broccoli, the side that we both ordered, so we got wedge salads instead. They were good and the cranberry poppyseed dressing was one of the best I have had anywhere. My herb-stuffed chicken breast dinner was nice too when it did come out. The cream cheese in the middle was nicely seasoned and the chicken was moist. Finally, dessert was probably the best part of the meal. We got the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. Yum. Again, in terms of service, when we were trying to pay we waited a full twenty minutes with our credit cards on the table before anyone even looked in our direction. My friend joked that we could have walked out and no one would have even noticed. We didn't leave until we had paid but honestly, the service really turned me off.

Met a friend for dinner after work. Server was super nice. The Veg Head sandwich was great. Not a fan of the seasoned fries though. I've never understood the idea behind them either. What's wrong with regular fries? Tollhouse pie is definitely one to share! Huge! Nice clean place. Not too noisy. Wish they had better signage as to where the entrance is and which lot to park in for their free parking. Would go back.

After sitting on the patio with my friends for ten minutes AFTER I realized it had been a while and still no server, I went in and asked the first person I saw in a Sahm's shift if he knew who was working the patio. "I've got a big party," was all he said, brushing past me. Our server finally found us, and we ordered beers and burgers without incident. We got two correct burgers and one burnt burger that wasn't my black & bleu burger, but after rejecting it it came back out, just dressed with the black & bleu set up (it's admittedly entirely possible there were two burnt, now-cold burgers, but I'm conjecturing). I, who have more than once eaten floor pizza, couldn't eat it it was so gross. There was some kind of awful, gloppy sauce and the burger was covered in grease. I told the server she could take my plate, with most of the fries (which were also cold, and also startlingly greasy) and burger untouched, and she didn't remark or inquire in the slightest. Maybe they're used to people not eating their food? I apologize, that was petty. I'm hungry but after that experience I'm just uninterested in eating anything, so I'm all grumpy.

First yelp review I've ever done. I'll start with a place I go to a couple times a week. I ALWAYS get the taco salad. I tell myself I am going to get something different but I love it so much! I always sit at the bar. I love how Kristin, the bartender, brings me my drink before I even sit down. It makes me feel so special. Like I'm not just another face. All of the other staff members are friendly too. The food is always fast and I can usual get a seat right away! Great looking bar. Granite and dark wood. Very cozy feeling too. They opened the cafe side as a dining area too so plenty of seating. Sahms Tavern is my local favorite.

Visited Sahm's Tavern today with my mom, business partner and two other friends. Was so excited to go on our Columbus Day outing, menu and advertising said local fresh fair. All ordered salads (which advertise "mixed lettuce" unless otherwise noted); but when we got them it was plain head lettuce! Who offers local fresh fair and gives head lettuce with no other "mixed lettuce" with it! The black bean soup special was very good, but small offering. Table service was surprisingly poor too (staff not very friendly or interested), tables too were dirty, greasy... it wasn't busy, so wondered why!?!? Prices pretty reasonable but food a great disappointment! : ( Won't return due to staff apathy, food not fresh or what they advertised and not very clean! In a word... disappointment!

My husband and I first hit up Sahms downtown on a Friday night after a long day in the office. We were pleasantly surprised, and we'll be back! Thumbs up to Sahms for: -No wait for dinner on a Friday night @ 8PM -Decent patio seating with a nice view of downtown (we went on a perfect Summer night with a nice little breeze - we were only 1 of 2 tables seated outside!) -A surprisingly big list of draft beers, many local -An enormous menu -Friendly, down to earth staff -Reasonable prices -Easy parking in their private lot (at night at least) -The coffee cake stuff you get with a salad order (I know - cake + salad?) Thumbs down to Sahms for: -Chewy steak (I don't know why I got a steak - I usually save the steak orders for steakhouses - I'll make a different choice the next time) -Being a little slow with the water refills -Being a little slow with presentation of the check Side note: We're in the market for baby-friendly dinner places . . . having seen another couple there with a little one on a Friday night at 8 made us think this is probably a place we could bring the little guy for a quiet night out!

What a mixed experience. Great location, free parking, outstanding food, ridiculously reasonable prices. Service? Practically begged them to wait on us fri night yet they weren't that busy. Three different servers tended to us so perhaps they were confused but...would have loved more water, would have ordered more drinks, would have ordered dessert, would have ordered coffee but couldn't even catch their eye. Contrast with a delicious meal--filet that was perfect, enormous salad filled with fresh interesting ingredients, asparagus perfectly prepared. So....we have to return in hopes the service was just off.

This is a little gem! The bar is cute and quite cozy. I had the chopped salad, and it was full of meat, cheese and veggies. My friend had the stir fry, and it looked delicious. Service was quick, and the price was very reasonable.

Completely unorganized. Bartenders spend more time trying to pick up the clients than serving patrons... the help looks stoned and out of it....sweaty and strung out go

We often end up at Sahm's by default due to the calm atmosphere and the chaos of the Mass area these days. Every time we decide to go its like we have amnesia of our last visit. Very mediocre food, dirty greasy tables, and weird service. Tonight we had our last visit to this location, which makes us sad because we like to support local. We were willing to overlook the 2 flys in our martini bc it does happen. But when you wave at a server twice to be completely blown off...buh bye.

Visited the bar only and the bartender was friendly and efficient and the appetizers we ordered were fine and dandy. The bar itself looks pretty cool, and I have to say that from a friend's photo posted on facebook, I had thought this was some revamped vintage place, but in person it looked like a big repro'd Victorian bar set inside a modern sleek remodel. It's nice for finding a downtown bar that has parking--which let's face it, is a plus! It's not a very large place, but it was hoppin. Even though it was cozy in terms of space, it still felt too open and bright for a bar. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer bars that have cozy corners and hidden booths and soft lighting.

Middle of the road food + simply awful customer service = never visiting Sahm's Cafe again. Waited 18 minutes for my to-go order and asked politely if my ticket was skipped ... I was immediately dismissed and the employee didn't even check on my order. Instead, I'm told that the kitchen will get to it when they get to it (even though I've seen 6 people get their orders despite ordering AFTER me)? After 22 minutes, you admit it the ticket was lost and say only "it's not my fault, it's not my fault" ... and after 28 total minutes, you hand me my food like I should feel lucky to get it? AND YOU ACTUALLY GET MY ORDER WRONG AFTER ALL THAT TIME?!? Fail, fail, FAIL. It is extremely hard to completely lose my business, I'm always all too forgiving - but you did it, Sahm's. Congrats.

I ate here once for lunch and my entire opinion so far is based on that one visit. I ordered a fish sandwich and I was blown away by how good it was. Whitefish, blackened with just the right amount of seasoning, on really good bread. Looking forward to trying some more of Sahm's menu.

Was visiting from out of town and wanted a place that was relaxing, had good food and good atmosphere....look no more! Great selection of menu items and a late-night happy hour from 9-11. It was one of the very few if any that stayed open past 10:00 (12:00). Service was very pleasant and helpful and checked on us repeatedly, what a change from other Restaraunt/bars. This place was not over-the-top on sports or too dark like some pubs. When in downtown Indy, this is one place to check out! You won't be disappointed.

This is one of the spot for my hubby and his buddies. The drinks here are good and they have great sliders. During the summer, they have a nice patio. We'll never had to wait except for a table on the patio (its was a nice day outside). Great place to meet up with friends and chill after a long day.

Feels like a Holiday Inn Express. Cookie cutter place that feels like you're having the self serve breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express. No service, frozen food from Sysco, and a bartender doing a crossword. Hope the rent is cheap, or bye, bye birdie.

Cozy little pub in downtown Indy. I've had a few decent meals here but my favorite is the buffalo chicken sandwich. Gotcha watch out though, that heat sneaks up on me every time! They usually run a few entree type specials that look appealing plus more traditional pub style food. It's nice that they have a free parking lot; they kind of need to since it's not really in the walkable area of downtown or Mass Ave.

SAHM'S SERVICE S _ _ KS! What a great downtown location and neat interior design... but the service S _ _ KS! We made the mistake of going tonight... and remembered after we got there why we're not regulars. The prices are a little high for what you get and the service is terrible. Terrible. (Note in high-ranking reviews that FREE PARKING was a big reason they liked Sahm's. There's a pub endorsement.) The poor bartender tonight was trying to wait on and bus the entire bar and almost every table while his co-worker wrapped a few sets of silverware, played on her cell phone and chit-chatted with some guys at the bar. Needless to say, without her help, things were a train wreck until he finally got caught up with the customers and mess. So sad for such a nice place. Where is the ownership and management? Sahm's may choose to hire and keep employees like her, but we don't have to contribute to their paychecks and tips. There are too many good places DT to suffer Sahm's. But if you go, please be generous with the hard-working nighttime bartender. He does his best.

In a nutshell, this place is like the shorter, but more mature sibling of the Distillery, and with better food. I've literally lived across the street from Sahm's Tavern and can't believe I haven't been here until now. It's not that I didn't know it existed, but rather I hesitated trying it based on the inconsistent and overall sub-par reviews. But on a gloomy Friday evening, when the frig was empty and nothing was fitting the bill, I gave this place a whirl. The menu was quite extensive so there's something for everyone, but at the same time, it also made me concerned. (Whenever I see comprehensive menus, I expect that the food will be mediocre because the restaurant doesn't "specialize" in certain dishes). I am happy to report that is not the case here. My fish tacos, while not the best I've had, were fairly good. The fish was cooked well, the coleslaw was crispy, and they didn't drown my tacos in a sea of white glob, which I appreciate. My boyfriend's meatloaf sandwich was the star of the two entrees though. The meatloaf was incredibly moist and had jam on top, which gave it a different, but yummy, sweet twist. My low expectations of this place have been proven wrong. I will probably return given the close proximity to my apartment, but I won't be rushing back. 3 stars it is!

What an amazing surprise! Tucked away around the corner fro the very large wall sign this is the only place still occupied on the block. But immediately walking in you are whelmed by ambience and tavern feel. The staff are amazingly nice and kept up easily with the food and beverage demands of a full length bar and 12 tables. What captured me immediately was the variety on the menu and the very reasonable prices. Easily I would have paid double elsewhere (and have) for what they were charging for a 6oz filet mignon. As it was I was captured by the duck breast on risotto with a cranberry chutney of sorts. Absolutely fantastic prefecture prepared medium rare. The side of cream of beef noodle soup was also a great surprise and while I had one cup as my side I ordered a second. With martini my bill came in just at $25. Amazing! As I don't live here I can only eat there again tomorrow night. Highly recommend the locals frequent this place !

Woulda been five stars had it not been for my cold clam chowda. It was a nice place for a quick, no frills dinner after watching an ISO performance. Nice burgers and sandwiches. Lovely beers on tap. Note if you order a sandwich or side that is dippable, ask for ranch. It's awesome!

This place is a little thought of spot in Downtown Indy that is actually quite a gem. Sahm's is known for providing great food options, and, during lunch, this place is always packed. For lunch, if you are in the mood for a standard sit-down lunch, from the lobby, enter the restaurant-bar on the right, but if you want food on the go or a quick lunch, enter into the room on the left that also has some seating. The sandwiches, soups & salads are consistent and delicious; the food specials are rarely boring and provide some extra excitement to the menu. The bar is also a great location for post-work drinks. The bartenders are super friendly, there are local beers on tap, and the television sets are perfectly located to provide sports and news to ensure that conversations won't be awkward. For the summer months, there's also a cute patio out front, making this place a well-rounded getaway from the office. The tavern is also perfectly situated for those living in the newer housing built on the northwestern part of downtown who may not want to make the walk to Mass Ave or the heart of Downtown Indy.

Parking out front for free Downtown is a real plus. Just had a real good filet dinner for $20 with sides. Prices reasonable, good beer on tap, cool new space in a renovated historic building. Very broad menu. Had to give it 4 stars even though it is not "fine dining".

We stopped here yesterday after a visit to the Historical Society. At first I wasn't even sure they were open -- no one was on the patio -- but we got that sorted out. Service was waaaaay better than on my first visit. Perhaps because they weren't so busy? Our waiter saw us ride in on our bikes and was asking about the bike paths downtown, etc., and let us linger as long as we wanted. Refills on our drinks were plentiful. I noticed they have a $2 happy hour from 3-6 and 9-12 daily; I think the menu featured sliders and some apps. It's a great location and I'm glad they are open on Saturdays, as many local/smaller restaurants downtown are not. After yesterday's experience, I'll make it a point to stop by more often.

Went to Sahm's for the 5th or 6th time for early dinner tonight. I won't give this place less than 4 stars because the food and drink have been nothing but wonderful every time; great specials and we literally crave the key lime calamari! However, I cannot stress how annoying the bad service is here. It always starts out great and friendly, and then we end up being forgotten about...every time. We keep coming back for the food and atmosphere, but for the sake of your patrons, please improve the customer service!

Before I even sat down at Sahm's Tavern in downtown Indy, I already knew what my favorite thing about it was--free parking and plenty of it! But it turns out that Sahm's has much more going for it than the parking situation. One word describes the menu here--options. I was pleased to see that they offer not only pub favorites like nachos, burgers and sandwiches, but also healthier choices like salads and stir-fries. And for those looking for something more filling, there are steaks, pork chops and pastas. Even vegetarians will find quite a few selections here. I started with the Mini Unsinkables--little bites of a ham, turkey and Swiss sandwich that are battered and fried and served with a spicy mustard. I'm not sure why they call these "unsinkable" because they will definitely weigh you down but they are very tasty. On the lighter side, I sampled the fresh and crisp Chicken Cranberry Salad. I loved the salty, sweet and tart combination of the cranberries, feta and poppy seed dressing. Steak Diane is one of the better entrees on the menu. Although the beef medallions were slightly overcooked on my first visit, the second time they were prepared perfectly and had that "melt in your mouth" quality. The Tomato Basil Chicken is a tender chicken breast served with a smooth and delicate tomato, basil and white wine sauce; however, I would have liked the basil to be a little more prominent. Another star on the menu is the breaded pork tenderloin. An Indiana classic, Sahm's really delivers on this one with a thick cut of pork and a crispy breading. This sandwich is a contender for my "best tenderloin in Indy" list. When it comes to sweets, I have a very discriminating palate. So, it isn't often that I will sing the praises of a restaurant's desserts. The first one I sampled was the Tollhouse Pie...chocolate chip cookie dough baked into a pie and served with chocolate sauce and ice cream--rich and chocolaty but nothing special. So I was surprised that the next two desserts blew me away. The bread pudding had a delightful cinnamon flavor and the texture was perfect--firm and moist but not soggy. Sahm's calls their sour cream coffee cake "world famous", and while I can't say if that's true, it might be in the running for world's best. All in all Sahm's offers tasty food, great variety and friendly service for a price that won't hurt your wallet. And, you don't have to pay for parking!

Great place to eat in downtown Indy. Been a couple of times while in town on business. Food is excellent and the service has been really good. The restaurant is upscale, yet casual. Short walk from Monument Circle, but parking is free if you choose to drive

Service was very rocky on the first day, which is forgivable. Prices are high and portions small. A plain burger is $5 and fries are $3. The Reuben I ordered was $5.50 but I got back to my office found they had given me a steak sandwich, which would have cost $7.99. It was very small and I didn't like it, so I'm really glad I didn't pay $8 for it. They are charging $1.99 for fountain drinks and $0.50 refills. A cup of soup is $2.99 and is very small (and I didn't like the chili.) Also, they close at 4:00 pm which is bizarre. Overall, I'm excited about having a new restaurant so close to work but I'm afraid I'll have to get a second job to afford eating here. UPDATE: the service has gotten much better so I upgraded them to 3 stars. The lunches are only OK but pricey and the breakfast was truly horrible (DO NOT order biscuits and gravy... yecch.)

My experiences at Sahm's have been great. They have $2 happy hour on food on Mon-Fri and everything on that menu is beyond delicious. I ordered 2 sliders and a fish taco. The fish taco was so good that I had to order another one and leave the 2 sliders for later.

There are two sides to this place: a cafe and a tavern. I actually go to the tavern side of this Sahm's. I've never been to the cafe itself. This is a nice, quiet place to grab an after-work beer. They have a cheap happy hour menu, which I applaud. They usually have a decent beer selection too, although right now it's VERY wheat-heavy. (Four wheats out of nine taps?! Really?!). Anyway, the atmosphere is good, if a little dark, and the music is usually pretty good. But it's nothing to go out of your way for. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, you could do worse. But you could do better.

Sorry Sahm's but you lost me on your latest venture. Oh, the food is the usual Sahm's fare with a huge menu from sandwiches to salads to entree dishes. The atmosphere looked inviting and impressive on the inside but we were not allowed to sit there. This is where the concept doesn't work for me. You see, the other Sahm's locations that I'm familiar with boast about their family oriented business. Walls are covered with family photo collages, kids are catered to and you might even chat with a Sahm! The tavern downtown is different and to me disappointing. No kids are allowed to dine inside despite a partition between the bar and a small dining area. There is an entire room of tables on the other side of the space but I guess those aren't available after 2pm. We stayed and dined on the patio but I think come December it will be a bit cold for us to dine out there! So if you have children, you're seasonal. Maybe the powers that be at Sahm's don't know that tons of young families with kids are moving downtown and we yearn for an affordable non-chain dinner spot that doesn't just offer pizza. Maybe they don't know that our kids' school has a waiting list and we have an award winning high school downtown and great new schools opening yearly downtown. This is not the Indy of 15 years ago when workers bolted at 5 to get back to the burbs to take there family to Sahm's in Fishers. No sir, this is the new Indy and we need a family friendly restaurant and bar that we can enjoy all year round. Please Sahm's remember your roots and grab metro Indy's growing demographic- the family!
