Tasty food (holy cow, the spicy chicken is SPICY). Very clean interior. Funny thing about the service. The guy who took my order was so nice. He rang everything up correctly and was pleasant. I told him that we just moved and had no plates or silverware at the house. He said no problem, just tell them when my order is done and they have plates they can give me. He says there's a 2.5 minute wait on spicy chicken (but, you're a CHICKEN place -- you don't have CHICKEN ready?!?!), so I take a seat and start reading Yelp reviews to pass the time. I notice all the reviews about bad service. I'm thinking - I get to write a review about the GOOD service, yea me! When my order is ready, I figure out the service problem -- the manager. When I ask for plates, I see one of the servers reach for plates and he tells her, "No, don't give those out. Give out the 'boats,' and only the small ones." Ok, whatever. Then I ask her for buffalo sauce and ranch and the manager nearly snatches them from her hands, saying, "Ma'am, those are 27 cents unless you buy the tenders." I must have made a face because he follows up with, "Hey, not my rules." Way to be professional, pal. And really, I can spend $25 on chicken and sides and get no sauce, but spend $3 on tenders and get the sauce for free? Whatever. I made up for their 27 cents in savings by asking for a crap ton of ketchup, then raiding them of lots and lots and lots of napkins and sporks. Take that, Corporate America!

Popeyey's is lucky their chicken is so good. I go back for the spicy chicken and Sweet heat sauce...and THAT IS IT! The service is among the worst I've ever encountered. I went with my family the month after the new store opened up here in Greenwood, In and everyone was running around acting crazy. They had (and this is no exaggeration) 8 people working a counter that couldn't have been more than 12 feet long. They didn't even have room to move around. It was ridiculousness at it's best. I'm telling you, I never go inside...I only go through the drive through and it's strictly for the chicken and sauce...nothing else. I don't even like the sides...and the biscuits are just OK...

These folks are lucky that their chicken is so good, otherwise, I wouldn't bother. My parents don't have one near them, so when they come to town, this is the first place they want to go. Granted, the food is good, but the service..... dear lord. It seems like no matter what popeye's I walked in to, everyone is running around like they're crazy, computers don't work, and they're running out of everything. How on earth does a chicken place run out of chicken? Last time it took forever and the service is honestly pretty awrful. Sometimes I don't know how they stay in business. They really need to step it up on their service.
