Was there last night for new years and I was initially weary about going because I knew it would be packed....They absolutely showed me I had no reason to worry. Should have never doubted this place. They surpassed my expectations and made it a great New Years. Wish we could post pictures. As soon as I walked in with my friends and family, Dave the bartender came out of nowhere and yelled RUBEN! ! extending his arms and escorted us to a table. He knew what we all drank and was ready to rock our world as usual. I took my grandmother (who could party & drink a room of sailors under the table , don't let the term grandmother fool you) for the first time and she asked for something "different", as shes a rum and coke lady for years, she wasn't sure what she wanted, he asked her a couple questions and clocked her drink of the night, she loved it. She now is a fruity martini lady, he-he. We had a few of their appetizers, all perfect portions and delicious. If you like cigars and first class service this is the place. First place I go to when I'm in Indy even before I check in at the hotel, yes, that good. The dynamic duo of Ben and Dave are the main reason I go!! Leather couches, dim lighting and a walk in humidor. Music ranges from down tempo house music to a well mixed alternative upbeat style towards the end. This is honestly the best cigar lounge I've ever been to. I am very much service oriented and once you got that down, you've won in my opinion, the rest is gravy..Kudos to the Nicky Blaines Team, definitely Chicago material.. (Sorry Indy had to say it, go bears!)

Ok, I've been holding this one back for a while. It is a little like trying to do a review on your favorite pair of blue jeans. They always seem to fit just right. A lot of movie critics will tell you it's impossible to review their favorite movie because they fear not being able to properly convey everything that makes it great. It's sort of like if you would have come to me before I ever visited Nicky Blaine's and asked me "If you could build the perfect place for drinks, what would it be like?" The only way I can handle this is to describe Nicky's to the best of my ability and encourage you to visit it yourself to experience the best cocktail lounge Indy has to offer. The sun has just set and the faint glow of evening still lingers in the sky. You walk across the circle to the doors under the Nicky Blaine's sign just as a horse draw carriage trots by heading south on Meridian. You open the doors and walk down the stairs do the room below. The burgundy red draped walls lead down to the doors into the bar on the right. You open the doors and are immediately greeted with a spacious dimly lit room and the faint smell of premium cigar woofs through the air. The sounds of light Jazz immerse you in an atmosphere resembling the cocktail lounges of the 50's and 60's. You can almost imagine Don Draper setting up at the bar. The host proceeds to great you warmly before calling a waitress to walk you to your table. You look around at the dark wood walls and glass display cases filled with cigars and sports car memorabilia before your waitress walks up dressed in a classy black cocktail dress. You follow her to your corner table and set on the leather couch used in place of conventional chairs or booths while your friends gather on the couch across from you and large cushioned easy chairs around your table. Soon you are browsing the menu and ordering a signature martini. The Mojito Martini is your choice for the night and when the waitress brings it back to your table with your premium CAO cigar you can smell the mint aroma rising from the drink, the perfect pairing indeed. As the night continues on with laughter and conversation about everything from politics to local restaurants you decide to walk to the bar to speak with an old friend who just walked in. The bar has a dry stack brick backing and two light portraits of Kennedy on the left and Lincoln on the right command the area. The bottles of various colored liquors and spirits line the bottom of the wall. The bar tender pours you a glass of cognac as you converse and catch up with your friend. The night grows late and before long your group is ready to leaves Nicky Blaine's to return home. You pull of your coat and walk towards the door. Before walking the stairs you turn and look through the room one last time, knowing that you will soon be returning for your next trip to "the perfect nightlife location"

This has become a last stop for my colleague and mine whenever we are in Indy. I still think it is a must - just for one drink!

Nicky Blaines....cough...cough...cough.....is located in the basement....cough...cough...cough.....of a building that borders the center of town and war monument and....cough...cough...cough.....has been hailed as ....cough...cough...cough.....a cocktail and smoking destination in Indy. Smoking being the key....I mean I grew up in the tobacco state of North Carolina, but ugh...smoking is so 20th century. A $5 cover gets you in....cough...cough...cough......finding a table....good luck. The place is ....cough...cough...cough.....packed........cough...cough...cough.....very dark........cough...cough...cough.....has low ceilings.......cough...cough...cough.....and is filled ....cough...cough...cough.....with smoke.....cough...cough...cough.........cough...cough...cough.........cough...cough...cough..... I'd go on, but I can't hold my oxygen mask and type at the same time.....cough...cough...cough.....

After having a not-so-great experience about two years ago I decided to give this place a second chance. I'm sorry I did. I haven't had a cigar in a while so I thought I would bring one with me and stop in and have a martini. This is the result after paying for two people: Cover charge = $5/person Martini = $11/each (2) Brought my own cigar = $5 misc. cigar charge Tip = $5.00 So basically, I paid $42 dollars to walk into the place, order two martinis and to smoke my own cigar. As for the misc. cigar fee - first, the waiter said that the $5 misc charge was basically "a tax" and and after I called, "bullshit" it was then described as a, "corking fee." Well, how about not charging 2-3 times markup on your cigars and people may not feel as compelled to bring their own? Some of your cigars are actually listed as, "Market Price".... what is this, lobster? I can walk into just about any cigar shop and find every cigar on your menu. They aren't that hard to get. The cover charge.....Really? What is it that you're really offering that you need to charge a cover? Is it for the nonexistent band? Maybe to pay for the 90's prom dance remix music you're piping in from Muzak? It's probably because at 11pm on a Friday night your bar is almost completely empty and you're hemorrhaging money..... Should be a clue. That was the last time I will ever go there. It's really too bad as I would love to have a place to go to smoke a cigar, have a few drinks, and hang out. Maybe someone will buy them out and actually make this place cool, but until then, I'll just smoke my cigar in my garage.

Unpleasant in most every way. I was here for a convention and our group wanted to relax with a cigar and a few to many drinks. From the start every employee was unpleasant to talk to, it should not be so hard to find a smile. When I mentioned to a bartender that one of the bar backs was vocally rude to one of my companions he made useless excuses and tried to refocus the blame back to us. (the customers). As for the smoke issue... I have been in quite a few cigar bars across the country and have never been in one that had absolutely no circulation. You can not enjoy the aroma of a good cigar when the level of stale smoke is that high. I would strongly suggest not making this a destination, it was the only misstep in an otherwise great visit to a lovely town.

Located in the basement of a historic building right around the corner from the war monument, is Nicky Blaines- a cocktail and smoking destination and touted to be the "premier cocktail lounge" of Indy. After paying a $5 cover (what this was for I do not know as there was no music or entertainment) we descended the stairs into the very dark bar that is Nicky Blaines. Through the smoke filled room, you see overstuffed red couches, leather chairs and a bar twisting through the end of one room. I was told they have a walk in humidor- but I never saw it as this place was DARK! The host sat us in a side room where the ventilation was doing nothing for the smoke that was hanging in the room. I get that it is a cigar bar- but most have systems that allow for non smokers to exist in the same room. Not so much here. We were handed a drink menu along with a smoking menu. In the smoking menu were a range of cigarettes and cigars for sale. While I only know a little bit about cigars- I know enough that the prices were inflated about 3 times what you might pay at a cigar store but pretty typical for a place like this. As for the drink menu- plenty of specialty cocktails as well as a good selection of scotch and wines. The place was described to me as a laid back, classy place to have a drink. What I found was a little less than that. The music was too loud and more "oontz, oontz" than classic. As for classy? It was all too dark and smoky for me to discern. But the service was pretty good- considering the server could barely see us in the place! Nicky Blaines might be the "premier cocktail lounge in Indy " (self proclaimed?), but for this no smoking girl? I'd just as soon go elsewhere where my clothes and hair don't reek, and where my cover charge at least pays for something other than admittance.

CIGAR LOVER'S PARADISE!!! I would say this is one of Indianapolis' hidden gems, right in the heart of downtown. I have been here several times and I love everything about this place! It's underground and right on monument circle, so the location is excellent! This place is never overcrowded, which is awesome if you're looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a cigar and scotch (or whatever you fancy). The staff are very friendly and professional. This is one of the few places you are allowed to smoke in anymore and they have a decent cigar selection. The lounge is full of plush leather couches and wood paneling, just what you would expect a cigar lounge to look like. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed; I could hang out here for hours.

Smoky even at 7:30 pm when there was barely anyone in there. But comfy couches, very attentive service, decent drinks and appetizers, and plenty of time to relax and enjoy the company makes it a fine place.

I've been looking for a place like this in DC. Haven't even come close. The dimly lit place, red carpets, and Italian leather couches. Private little place for a expensive cigar and a glass of a brandy or scotch or port. And as my buddy put it last night, very capable waitresses. Highly recommend it. I never bothered to find out if you could take your own cigars in though. That might be a good idea, because I think they're charging at least a 40% premium. Late night, serious conversations, and maybe even celebratory drinks; this is place to hit in downtown Indy.

Where shall I begin with this travesty? Seriously...I have traveled to many cities and tried multiple bars and wow this ranks as one of the WORST I have ever experienced. They describe themselves as Indy's premiere cocktail lounge. Seriously? I didn't know sitting in a smoke filled room with overpriced, poorly made drinks were considered premiere status. Guess I missed that memo. Yes I am well aware it's a cigar bar, however, most cigar bars have a better system that circulates the air so it's not a problem. This place reminds me of a factory smoke stack or an old lady chain smokers apartment in Queens. Actually the furniture kinda looks like that anyway so yeah it fits in this case (I'm surprised plastic wasn't on the couches). As for the service...awful. We started at the bar before we moved to a couch. Wish we never moved because that when it went all down hill. The server was slow and didn't care about anything. She got my drink order wrong and when I said something about it she gave me a dirty look and took it back. Sorry I'm not going to drink something that tastes like crap and that I didn't even order. So keep your high and mighty looks to yourself and do the job you are being paid to do. Anyway...while sitting there my friend was approached by this sleazy guy. He starts talking to her about being in a porno. Yes you read right...he tried to pick her up by saying she should be in a porno. I walked up at the end of that conversation and was appalled from what little I heard. Nice clientele but it doesn't surprise me. You attract the bottom on the barrel having a basement bar. So I told him to go troll on someone else and sat back down. We waited and waited and waited for our server of the year to come back to see if we needed anything. Once she felt we were worthy enough for her attention she came by. Yet asked while passing by if we needed anything...I said yes I'd like another drink please. Poor thing had to turn around and ask us what we wanted. We should have been ashamed of ourselves asking her to do her job...shame on us!! Once she returned with our poorly mixed drinks she proceeds to spill the drink and the glass broke. One would think an apology would come next but OH NO! What do I hear...her blaming my friend for hitting her hand on accident. Really? No apology or her offering to clean it up. No she just left it there. Yes she left the broken glass, classy huh? So we waited, for what we were not sure anymore at this point. We were finished choking down their awful drinks and just wanted the check. I went to the bar to ask if someone was going to clean that up and to get the check. The guy at the bar had said the server wasn't serving us anymore because my friend had been cut off. Excuse me? I looked at him quite confused because I wasn't asking for more to drink, I was asking if someone was going to clean up that broken glass and for the check so we could leave. He just gave us our check and we left. I will never, ever go back here again. It's atmosphere is totally old woman and most likely you will have lung cancer after you spend 5 minutes in there. To me this place is the face of fail.

There are not enough places like Nicky Blaines. The atmosphere and décor of Nicky Blaines has me expecting to see Don Draper walk through the door. I visit Indy monthly and if I am not able to make it here on one of the nights, then the trip ultimately feels incomplete. The cocktails are always on point and they have a huge cigar menu to choose from. Additionally you can bring cigars from your own private collection to enjoy. The service is always impeccable and the waitresses/waiters know cigars and a help to make it an enjoyable experience. I don't think there is a dress code but blue jeans seem out of place when other patrons are wearing dresses and suits. It is worth noting that this is a cigar bar and your clothes will need to be washed/dry cleaned after your night out. If you have any interest in cigars or just want to go to a cool bar, do yourself a favor and checkout Nicky Blaines, I spent my last birthday here and I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Bartender had a water sitting in front of me before I even sat down. I knew this was going to be good. Ordered my old trusty dirty vodka martini and they made it spot on. Not too dirty to overpower the vodka, very crisp, clean and cold. I was in heaven. If my water even looked like it wanted to by halfway empty these bartenders had it covered. Most amazing service ever. The ambiance was a general lounge atmosphere. Big comfy couches, lots of cigars, choices on the menu etc. etc. If you are a lounge person I highly recomend this one!

Went to Nicky Blaine's twice in the span of a couple days last week. The waitstaff was great and accommodating. The prices for drinks were on par w/ other downtown establishments ($7 for a gin & tonic). We didn't purchase any cigars from Nicky Blaine's because there is actually a cigar shop right outside the front door. Good: The 2nd time we went the hostess told us there was a $5 cover charge to enter. I have never in my life heard of a cover charge at a cigar bar. We were upset about the charge, but willing to pay. Low and behold the manager (or GM?) comes up, apologizes for the mix-up and waives the charge for the entire party of 10 people. Good2: The music was appropriate for the audience. A black fraternity brings 25,000 people to the city? Play R&B. Nice. Good3: Nicky Blaine's put up a banner in the establishment welcoming the fraternity. Bad: The hostess was terrible. She was basically eye-candy with an attitude. NO help whatsoever. She actually looked upset if we asked her anything.

Love love love the drinks and there are many to choose from! HATE HATE HATE the smoke - it follows you like Pig Pen's cloud. But you can't beat the atmosphere and the music. Bartenders are the best and you don't get MORE lounge-ish than Nicky's. When I lived in downtown Indy I was there frequently - love it and miss it.

Damn you Nicky Blaine's and your tasty martinis. I spent way too many nights in college here developing a taste for the aforementioned drinks and cigars. I always like they way everyone enters into the club, taking the long stairwell that opens up in to a beautifully designed room in the basement. Leather seats and dark wood walls make for an overly inviting space. If you are lucky, on the night you pop in they may have a live jazz band playing.

Ok, so I'm writing this from the perspective of a hospitality industry employee. So I have a little different view of this place than most. But I still love it. Let me start out with telling why I only gave four stars and not five, and it has nothing to do with smoke. I hate the decor of this place, the red lighting and the somewhat tacky retro-chique louge atmosphere could have kept me out of this place forever, but I find my self going in week after week to visit Indy's best bartenders. If you have an aversion to smoke, stay clear. This is a Martini and CIGAR BAR...for anyone who complains about the smoke, you're just being silly, thats like complaining about the noise at a Colts game. The bar makes not apologies about, nor do they try to hide the fact that they are in fact one of Indy's finest purveyors of fine smoking products. That being said, lets get on to the good stuff. As I said before the 'tenders at Nicks are my favorite in the city. Funny guys with a somewhat cynical view of the world they work in. If you wanted to come up with a group of guys to work in a place that were more different that the somewhat pretentious clientèle, you couldn't do better than Mr. McVey. A really friendly, easy to get along with kinda guy who digs soccer and a good drink. Two things also stand out to me about Nicky Blaine's that the average person may not be aware of. One, they have the best Italian sub you can buy...anywhere...ever...period. The Vesuvius Sub is amazing, and if you order it with out the peppercini's I will personally break a chair over your head. The second thing is the perfect height of the bar in relation to the chairs that after a long day of waiting tables allows me to relax my head on my arms and feel perfectly comfortable while I knock back some Bud Diesels. This is no doubt one of my favorite local haunts, although you won't find me there on a weekend night, if for no other reason that the general Nicky's crowd is a bunch of wannabe high-class desk jockeys trying to impress....? Anyway, if you can handle the d-baggery that tends to come in to Nick's then check it out on the weekends when it's packed, otherwise, come during the week when business is a little lighter and you can get to know you bartenders and bar backs a little better. P.S. don't get pissed if the guy washing glass ware won't get you a drink, he isn't allowed.

I don't make it down to this cigar bar often, but when I do, I savor it like a fine cigar (I'll be here all night, folks!) The atmosphere is laid back (aided drastically by the deep, plush couches), with nice ambient touches and great, chill music. I've been many times, and went for my bachelor party. The staff is polite, the cigar and martini selections are great, and the people watching is top notch for Indy. A terrific selection of scotch is another good reason to go. Can't wait to return, now that I remember what I've been missing on the north side of Indy!

Ohhhh how the mighty have fallen.... I was back in Indy visiting friends, and used to frequent Nicky's for cocktails and a Cigar from time to time..... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?? This is a "cigar bar" only in as much as they have cigars there. I am definitely a cigar afficianado and have been to cigar joints all over the US, and I wouldnt DREAM of returning to this disaster. First, the smoke was so thick my eyes started burning the second I walked in the door. There was a thick cloud hanging in the entire establishment. Frankly, it was nauseating. The mere thought of trying to enjoy a cigar in there was laughable. Fix your smoke eaters, or buy better ones. On top of this, it was HOTTER inside than it was outside. Incredibly uncomfortable. I was sweating before I got my first beer. The drink prices are high to the point of being insulting. If I pay less for vodka at a strip club, time to rethink your strategy. Add to this that the martinis are average at best. You probably wont be happy when the bill comes. Oh, and who chose the music?! It was like someone went and bought the "Dance hits volume 93" CD and ut in on replay. Who would dare remix "Black Betty" into shotty trance?! Wheres the jazz? Or at least something hip and soothing... If youre looking to pay good money to get seasick, sweaty, and listen to late 90s prom dance mixes, then Nicky's is the place. Epic Fail.

Good wine and cocktail selection. Atmosphere has a nice lounge feel that you would expect from a martini bar. Lots of couches, coffee tables, etc. The place is always dark, which is something I enjoy from time to time. The major downfall for me is that everything is overpriced and the cigar smoke is overwhelming. It can get pretty stuffy in there, in more ways than one. With new and better places like the Ball and Biscuit, I don't have much use for Nicky Blaine's anymore.

Ok I know its a cigar bar and its going to be smoky, but the lack of ventilation mixed with he cigar smoke just makes one nauseous. I am a big on adventure in every aspect of my life, including martinis. I told my waitress i wanted something sweet, vodka, non-creamy and no chocolate, other then that the bartender had their pick. I was given a martini version of a chocolate white Russian in a martini glass. So apparently she understood vodka and stopped listening after that. When I told her this was NOTHING I wanted she said oh, let me get you something else and then brought my a key lime pie martini, still cream based! I finally told her one I wanted but when the bill came had to argue when i was charged for 5 martinis, 2 of them being the ones I had sent back without trying bc Vodka and cream just do NOT work for me. She said she could only take 1 of them off when I told her about this. I asked for the manager and he said that because I had not specified a drink, it was not made wrong, and therefore I should pay for all of them. I told him I would pay for the 3 I had ordered, but not the two that I had given specific guidelines for and got NOTHING I wanted. He finally backed down and took the 2 disastrous drinks off the bill, but the damage is done and I will NEVER be back again.

I must reveal my bias. I would prefer a dive bar more a swanky upscale establishment any day. When I ended up at Nicky Blaines the other night with a group of folks I didn't know all that well, I was a little...well, lets say concerned...that this place wasn't my style. Let there be no mistake, don't expect to walk into Nicky Blaines and see a bunch of Indiana dudes wearing jeans and t-shirts. This is a fairly classy place full of suits and designer outfits worn by a clientele that has some cash to throw around. You might feel out of place here if you are a more dive bar type of guy. As for our group, we took over one of the back rooms and enjoyed the fairly comfy couches. Being a moron and feeling like I should order a drink to fit the atmosphere, I ordered a scotch on the rocks (which of course I hated, not having a taste or any experience with scotch). The music was at a good level for conversation and we enjoyed ourselves for the most part. When it comes down to it, Nicky Blaines just isn't my cup of tea. The room was filled with cigar smoke and I reeked of it the next morning. The bill was high and the service was mediocre. EDIT: I updated my review to 4 stars. Quite a few years have passed since I wrote this review and my tastes and palate have changed. For example, I quite enjoy scotch and cigars and this is a fine place to enjoy both of those things. It's expensive, but then it's not supposed to be an everyday place unless you are well-off. As a every now and again place for special nights out, I really appreciate that Nicky Blaine's is an option in Indy.

  • Todd R.

Would be one star except for the great drinks. Really, really good selections of fine martinis, scotch, and bourbon. Bad ventilation, even for a cigar bar. $5 cover for no DJ or entertainment? Couldn't even request songs. Servers wouldn't split the bill till we threatened to leave and challenge the charge even though they said we could have separate bills before we ordered anything. Never again.

Overall - a very nice vibe for a cigar/martini lounge, a very ratpack feel, which is a neat experience especially for Indy. It's a very large place with multiple sectioned rooms with couches and leather seats (seriously think Dean Martin). Overall - I would probably give this place a "3 1/2" stars but for Indy - it's good enough to be a 4. Nice martini drinks (their nuts and berries cream martini is EXCELLENT). A little pricey - but I think it's worth it for the relaxed atmosphere without super loud music and vibe.

I been here a handful of time each time I have enjoyed myself. They have a limited selection of cigars. But it's a place where you can light up and they encourage it. Too many places are smoke free, this is one of my havens on the road! Cover charge was a bit pretentious for a place that marks up their cigars 40% and drinks are costly. But hey at least you're not outside in the rain.

It's a martini, cigar bar. Can I start there? You will smell like smoke when you leave, but that being said, this is the BEST martini bar in Indy. It is in a fantastic old downtown building decorated with plush comfy couches, gorgeous hardwood, dark carpets and a long, wide bar. There is a cover, it fluctuates but is usually around $3. If you WANT a table, either reserve one or get there early. The martini menu is extensive with a wide array of choices. The bartenders are hot, the waitresses wear all black and slink through the bar with several drinks per trip not spilling a drop. It's impressive. And for making a large table of women specialty drinks, it doesn't take very long and I find this to be the best part. They understand that people don't like the wait. On top of that, for those who enjoy something other than a vodka or gin martini, they have a fantastic whiskey list with top shelf choices, and of course, the cigars. Ahhh...my non-smoking hubby cannot pass them up. They clip them fresh for you and allow you to choose from a variety of flavors. With the piano playing in the background, the dark lighting and the sexy atmosphere, if you can't get yourself laid after a date here, you probably can't get laid. Perfect for a starter place, an ending place, bachelorette parties, sexy dates, meeting rich, older men, gorgeous bartenders, and numerous other celebrations. If you are downtown and need a hot spot, don't miss this. Dress to impress. No ripped jeans here....just popped collars and slinky dresses.

Ambience: 2 Service: 0 Drinks:4 This place hasn't gotten more than one review over 3 stars in almost a year for good reason. First, you have to pay a $5 cover. Not a big deal, but there really isn't a point. It's never overflowing with people, and they pump awful club/techno music through the place the whole time. The service is absolutely terrible. My group has been sat right in front of the entrance the past two times I've been there, and it has taken the waitress about 15 minutes to get our drinks, and then another 30-45 minutes to come back by and see if we needed more. Both of the waitresses I've had were also just plain rude and acted like they had no interest in their jobs, probably because my group was over 6 so the gratuity was automatic. Still, you think they'd be remotely friendly or at least polite when your bill is $200-$300. They will also always tell you they can split a bill, and then refuse to split it when you're ready to leave. This has happened 2 out of the 3 times I've been there. Where they do score points, though, is the drinks. Their bartenders are among the best in town when it comes to making something besides a typical drink like a whiskey and coke. That said, they're still grossly overpriced. If you go here, plan on spending about $30-$35 on 2 drinks, cover, and tip. You could probably impress girl with a low IQ by taking her here, but there are definitely MUCH better options downtown.

Live jazz and you can still hold a conversation - Citizen Kane (Hendricks gin, rosemary & caper berries) Cigars and reasonably well ventilated. Always found the bartenders pleasant, I've been there on slow nights and busy nights and never felt crowded, rushed, or overcharged; it's a requirement when I'm in town. It's divided in to smaller areas and has a large bar area, too. Good for a small group or by yourself.

We stopped at Nicky Blaine's after a very nice dinner. We were enthusiastic at first: A fantastic lounge environment, comfortable chairs, dim lighting, Frank Sinatra on the radio. Romantic. We ordered drinks from an indifferent server which were perfectly mixed and tasty. Now, being non-smokers from Illinois, it is a little shock to the system to be stuck in a smoke-filled room, but, hey, it's a cigar bar, right? At first we thought it added to the ambiance, fitting in perfectly with the aesthetic of the place. But then--suddenly--the music went from soft Frank to several notches too loud drum and bass. Talk about ruining what appeared to be a very carefully cultivated mood. The unfortunate thing was that we were thinking about having a couple more drinks (which were quite good, I should mention again), but the change in music and the dismissive waitstaff really drove us out the door.

I always felt like I was in the middle of a cutting-room floor "Godfather" scene here at Nicky Blaine's... or that Frank, Dean or Sammy were going to walk through the door any minute. I don't remember the service being outstanding - in fact, the bartender was kind of a jerk who refused to believe I was 21 - but the ambiance and the drinks make up for that. This is kind of a chill place where you wouldn't want a cocktail server all up in your grill, anyway. My first time here, I had the unfortunate combination of a chocolate martini and a vanilla cigar, which resulted in me making a "return deposit" in the parking lot behind Nicky's. Classy.

Secure a seat in Indy's oligarchy by finding your place, here, at Nicky Blaine's. Better yet, anyone who hasn't experienced the splendor of this nostalgic cocktail and cigar lounge, be them an epicure or not, would do well by themselves to put it at the top of their 'To-Do' list. This underground lounge will charm you with its soft lighting and the crushed suede couches will imbue you with such relaxation that, just like all of the fine patrons who've come before, you'll never want to leave the company of your cigar and snifter.

I come here everytime I visit Indy...which is a lot. I am a cigar afficionado, and with all the damn smoking bans, it's nice to unwind at a cigar friendly place, with great service and well poured drinks. The martinis are tastey, the scotch list is long, and they have high end smoke eaters to keep the air clean. All in all this is a great place to chat, take the edge off with a good cigar and a stiff drink. Cigar prices are a bit inflated, so I always bring my own. It may seem cheap, but I make up for it with a nice drink tab, and good tips.

It's not a restaurant, it's a cigar bag with good food. Among it's market segment (within it's SEGMENT), it is a 5 star place. Great service, polite, a modest upcharge on cigars with superb presentation. Great drinks. Great ambiance, been going there for years after St. Elmo's.

Nicky Blaine's Well....was in town for a weekend from Chicago and find myself in Nicky Blaines on a Saturday night. The only bar in town that isn't filled with young kids/rednecks!! Overall it's a cool place just to kick back and enjoy a drink....but on the downside.... I found the bartenders having bad attitudes and acting like complete A-holes!! (They think this place is a top NYC bar/club....dude it's Indy not NYC or Chicago) also find it funny that others in bar acting like complete tools.....sitting at the bar with sunglasses on at 1:30am?!?! Again, it's a cool place for Indy....but just be ready for bad service from the tool bartenders if they don't know you.

I tried to overlook the many reviews mentioning how smoky this basement club is-- afterall, it's a cigar bar-- it's what you are signing up for. I enjoy the occasional cigar, so I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the wall of smoke-- everyone's eyes in our group were burning and we eventually had to leave. I tried enjoying a (somewhat overpriced) cigar, and it just wasn't happening. Not my idea of a cool place to hang out. Sorry, Nicky Blaine's.

Pretty cool place, we went here for New Years Eve ($10 cover) drinks are really expensive, add $2-$3 more for your typical bottled beers, cocktails are kinda outrageous but its kind of a special occasion type of place, not somewhere you want to get your drink on. Its cool you can smoke cigars in there, the cigars we bought were $10. Not bad, very chill atmosphere, lots of couches and comfy chairs, definitely a cool place to hang with the bros, dont know if I would take a lady here cause its real smokey, depends on the girl.

I love this place; low key, top shelf drinks, great cigar selection. If you can't stand smoke or old fashioned cigar lounges, you don't belong here.

What a crazy place. We closed it out on a Wednesday night as an after party to the Conseco party. The dirty vodka martini was great. Well made, top shelf vodka. I wasn't paying, so I have no idea how expensive it was, but it was pretty fun. It's pretty dark and loud. I had no food. They seemed a little frazzled w/the party of 50 or so people who mobbed it around 11pm. But they were very nice and accommodating. Again, not a 5 star b/c of Indiana's smokey atmosphere.

Five stars for atmosphere. One star for service. Two stars for price. Had an evening out with some friends. We loved chilling here for a few hours. I was sad that the server was so bad that our glasses were always empty! When we would place an order, he would wander off...sometimes for twenty minutes at a time. When it was time to settle our tab, there were several (expensive) drinks on the bill that we did not order/receive.

Yep, Nicky Blaine's is teh swank. I pretty much love it, but then, I'm a classical violinist. Of course I feel at home with swank. Yes, you should dress up a little bit to come here. Thank God there are still a few places around where you can. If I had my way, people would still wear evening gowns and white ties to the opera, but sadly, those days are long gone. Anyway, you don't need to get that fancy for Nicky's, but gentlemen, do throw on some khakis at least, and ladies, feel free to dust off that little black dress. Yes, it's smoky. It's a cigar bar. If you don't like cigars, this isn't the place for you. I'll admit to enjoying the occasional cigar, indelicate as that is. It seemed to me that they have a good selection, but then, I'm no expert. Once upon a time, by which I mean January, there was live music here several nights a week. I haven't been there for awhile, so I don't know what it's like now. But I would imagine there's still a band playing at least on the weekends. If you like upscale, gangster-ish atmosphere and good martinis with cool names like "Maneater," you'll dig Nicky Blaine's.

  • Eric P.

A place to be the civilized kind of liberal -- complete with a portrait of JFK behind the bar. Be sure to dress to impress. I'm also all for the smoke-free law that will hopefully pass through all of the bars -- with Nicky Blaine's as an exception. The cigar menus are a trademark of this place. Great cocktail menu, awesome bar food (cheese plates!), and a nightly (I think?) performances from jazz musicians.

  • Sarah R.

I highly reccommend the Blondie Cigar and the Pomegranate Martini. This bar is very sexy to say the least. It is a perfect end for a romantic night out downtown. Dim lights, plush couches a little black dress and just a generally swanky atomosphere make this one of my top 5 bars in the city.

    (4)
  • Nichole H.

I frikkin love this place. I feel so swanky sitting there with my Betty Page Cosmo and my Montecristo White. Their meat and cheese platter is delicious and the chocolate cake dessert (can't think of the name) is rich and evil. I do admit that the ventilation could be a bit better, but what do you expect at a cigar lounge?

I like this place. It does have a nice kind of dark cushy interior. Bartenders seemed good to me. All kinds of types in here. Some people traveling through Indy but the mood and feeling in here is great. Relaxing, fun, and just some place to have a great night out ! I think the feel of it is the best part of Nicky Blaine's.

  • James H.

One thing i like is there laid back chill-out music that is very hard to find played at any bar in Indy unless you find it and play it on a jukebox. They are expensive, some of there bartenders have a chip on there shoulder but if you get on a couch your usually drunk by time you stand up, or tired. The next time i go i will probably just being celebrating something not just drinking to drink.

The quintessential classy, martini bar in Indianapolis. One of the most legendary spots where famous people, thinkers, drinkers and influencers have gathered over the years to drink martinis and smoke cigars. Located across the street from where it once sat, this dungeon bar is truly one of the sexiest places you'll ever go. The servers and bartenders are the best in the city, with the highest standards of service you'll find. This place is pure class. The caveat is that it is a cigar bar, and one of the most popular places in Indy to order and smoe cigars. It's even common to see women smoking on them, as this place has developed a repuation as one of those places 'you should try.' Many come here regularly, and my friends have a tendency to go there after a nice meal downtown and on friends' birthdays. It just has that special place feeling and you can really treat yourself there to great drinks, and the atmosphere is one of a kind. The basement level, dimly-lit bar has a dark tone with a lot of wood and dark red decor. It's an old school, almost country club feel and is definitely equally as classy. Be sure to look for the painting of the famous American leader above the bar. This is definitely a place to visit if you're in from out of town. It's located just off the Monument Circle. Usually a jazz band on the weekends and a cover (5 or 10 bucks) to get in. Seems to really be perfect in the winter, probably because it's so dark and underground. Anyway, this is an awesome place to drink. Take a group.

Nicky Blaine's is a place where you can have a nice cigar in one hand and a scotch whiskey in the other. If you don't like smoke, this is not the place for you. It's a nice place to sit and talk to people. The music is in the background just at the right level. This is the best place to go if you just came back from the steam room talking about the stock market.

Tasty drinks and a swanky atmosphere. Unless you know nothing about cigars, bring your own. Their cigar prices are highly inflated. I thought the drink prices were in line with similarly styled bars. Protip: go early on a weeknight to avoid the crowds.

This is officially my favorite bar anywhere, ever. Descending down the stairs into the dark, plush, jazzy interior of Nicky Blaine's is like stepping into a Mafia movie. Lounge on a couch or at the huge bar with a cocktail and a cigar and enjoy life. The incredibly professional and sweet bartender at Nicky's served my date and I two of the best Manhattans I've ever tasted, and believe me when I say I've tasted quite a few. Soft jazz soothed us as we sipped our top-notch cocktails and made us feel like fancy folk. I will be visiting Nicky Blaine's every single time I return to Indy. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Overall the place has a really nice decor, and seems like a trendy place. The martinis were really good. The reason why I am giving the place two stars was because of the smoke. When we walked in, it was smoky. But it got worse. It was crowded and my friends and I we were seated in the back. Well... nearby us two large bachelor parties ordered the biggest cigars on the menu. The ventilation is very poor, and my group was engulfed in clouds of smoke. It was horrible. I could barely see in front of me, my eyes started to burn, I was coughing profusely, and afterwards my clothes reeked of smoke. Another bad part was the booth was too narrow. Our group did not have enough room for our legs, and we had to wedge our feet under the table. Our feet were hurting badly afterwards. We could not stand the smoke any more and decided to leave right after our first martini. Another group was entering as we were leaving. By this time the smoke clouds had extended to the entire bar. The other group turned around and demanded their $5 cover per person back. I wish I would have done the same thing. If Nicky Blaine's installed a better ventilation system or went smoke free, I would return. But I since the smoke was so horrible, if nothing changes, I will not return. It's a shame, because if it wasn't for their smoke problems, it would have been a nice place.

It's a great, rat-pack throw back style martini and cigar bar. I had to laugh reading some of these reviews -- but if you didn't know what you were walking into I suppose it could be a shock. The prices are on the high side, but you're paying for atmosphere. So - if you don't like cigar/martini/scotch/Sinatra atmosphere, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you like that kind of atmosphere, then you'll be hard pressed to find a more fitting bar.

Growing up in Indianapolis, I could not turn 21 fast enough in order to check out this swank martini and cigar bar. As soon as you step in, you know you are hanging with the cool kids, and in the good way, not the snobby elitist way. Everyone is incredibly chill here, not quite a Beatnik bar, but you dig?

I went to Nicky Blaine's on a recent combo business/pleasure trip to Indy. Went on Tuesday night. Loved the place. Great crowd, Arrived around 8:30 and stayed until closing. Got back to my hotel, three blocks from bar around 3:30 AM. Had to be up early the next morning. Survived but was tired.

I have a love-hate relationship with Nicky Blaine's. I love everything about it and I always hate myself the next day. My clothes always smell like cigars and I always end up having more to drink than I probably should have. Why? Because I always have so much fun that I end up staying much longer than I'd originally planned. The couches are cozy and the drinks are yummy. I visited Nicky's often when I lived in Indy and I go back just about every time I'm in town. I can't say no. I love the martinis, love the people, love the atmosphere, and I've even been known to enjoy a cigar every once in a while. So grab a few friends, venture downstairs, grab a spot and have fun; it's inevitable.

Great, but not perfect. The Good: Excellent atmosphere... this the main reason to come here (you are essentially paying for the setting, since they don't serve food in the general sense). Nice choice of upscale drinks and cigars. One of the few places in Indy to enjoy a cigar in a pleasant setting. Bad: Somewhat overpriced. Cigars and Drinks are rather pricey, as are their snacks. But when that is their only revenue, it is somewhat understandable. Overall: 4/5 I would rate a 5/5, but their music selection at times is annoying and not at all in line with the atmosphere. While the place 'typically' plays jazz, Sinatra, and lounge music which fits the setting; it sometimes plays techno and hip-hop. At levels too loud to hold a conversation. Talk about not knowing your environment. When approaching the host about the music and the level, they acted very surprised that anyone would complain and said that's what their crowd wanted(??).

Love this place! It is a bit like stepping back in time with the great service, jazz music and cigar smoke. This place has a cool vibe and and it is great for a romantic date if you come during the week. The martinis are fantastic here and there are couches everywhere for the ladies to rest their feet after standing in stilettos. It is a bit of a more sophisticated crowd, which I like since I am not 22 anymore. Excellent place.

I love this place...it's like a piece of heaven, but in Indy. It's warm, cozy and void of all things sport related (sorry, not really). Nicky Blaine is in my top 10 coolest bar ever. It looks like it's been round almost forever, but has managed to stay hip enough for...I don't know for who, but I appreciate it.

Finally! A nice bar where you can enjoy sipping a nice beer, wine or cocktail while savoring a nice cigar (my preference - a Habanos - Montecristo Edmundo). I'm tired of all the hypocrites in America. You can't smoke one anywhere except your home without someone complaining so loudly. This is a very good and comfortable place. It's not stuffy at all. I mean the clientele. Nor is the air quality. They must have these nicer ceiling mounted, invisible quiet air recirculating machines so anyone's cigar smoke isn't over powering. I chose to be seated on a very comfortable leather sofa that they have many of. Or, one of many comfy looking chairs. It's like one big living room sub divided into many, though. Or, you could just sit at the bar which looked comfortable as well. It is a darkly lit place but, oh well, it's still nice enough. Classy. Some of the cocktail drinks seems kind of pricey except beer was on price par. Maybe by a buck or two. I'd have to say that the service was pretty good. Although I was in here earlier on a Saturday night around 7:30 - 8:30 pm. It started to fill up a bit more as I was leaving to go back to my hotel a couple blocks away. I recommend this place. Its located just on the Monument Circle slightly to the south on Meridian St. (west street side - go through the glass doors - down the stairs and then right turn - at stairs bottom through more glass double doors). I, like many others had wished every major U.S. city had this concept.

Nice chill place. Decent appetizers, cigars and strong martinis, leather, and live jazz. Strikes me that it would be a good date place. Kinda pricey, but the ambiance and class of the place makes it worth it. Good place to sip a scotch and shoot the breeze.

Slap on some Brut, light up a stogie and grab a martini. Take a step back in time at Nicky Blaine's. This place has an amazing atmosphere and ambiance. When the jazz combo is playing, it's on and cool like the other side of the pillow... Awesome place, don't miss it if you're in downtown Indy. Incredible cigar list too.

I visited this bar because of the great reviews I'd read about it's cocktails and appetizers. I was shocked when we arrived and were informed it was 'ladies night' but our husbands would have to pay a cover charge. For what?! For the pleasure of sitting in an empty, smoke filled room with loud music blaring from a CD (note: no live music) and for overpriced food. I must admit that the room has character but the drinks are nothing to write home about; and the fact that the place was empty on a Thursday night during MotoGP weekend, you'd think they'd be nicer to us out-of-towners.

Want to come to a place and not be seen?! This place is one you can come to and have some privacy! It's dark in here. You get seated in a dark quiet area that has comfy sofas or chairs.... Ventilation is pretty good here and drinks are always good!! Staff have always been wonderful as well!!! Nice place to meet for a first few dates after a nice dinner elsewhere!! Just to sit smoke drink and socialize!

Nicky Blaine's is an underground cigar and cocktail lounge that focuses mostly on scotch. The large amount of space is filled appropriately with comfortable leather couches assorted for groups or couples for a late night with colleagues or post-dinner night cap with the girlfriend, wife, or mistress. Drinks range anywhere from about $8/glass (something like Chivas 12 year) to $60+ a glass for the nicer scotch. Cigars are in the same realm of price. The service staff could be more "professional" and fitting for the environment, but I'm not complaining. Occasionally there has been a door man charging a $5-$10 cover. Dim lighting, quiet jazz, faux leather seating, cigars, and scotch. The dream hangout of any classic gentleman. It's not for everyone, but I definitely recommend if this sounds like you.

Well hello there, Nicky Blaine's! In all my years of living in Indy, never once have I stepped into this place. Mostly because I wasn't sure if I was "fancy" enough or if I'd have enough dough to throw down here. Well, skeptics relax! I felt completely comfortable and I didn't even have my heels on ;) Located just off the circle downtown, you enter and head down the stairs where they check your ID. Keep in mind, this is a cigar bar, so upon entrance into Nicky Blaine's, your senses wake up to the smell of cigar smoke (which I happen to love) and dimly lit surroundings. The hostess leads you to a plush couch where you can peruse the drink and cigar menu. As a lady who also isn't afraid to be different, I ordered a beer while my girlfriends ordered wine, martinis, and scotch. We didn't buy any cigars that night, but I will be back to do so with my husband. It's cool that you can also bring your own, although I believe there's a $5 fee in doing so. They have a lot to choose from and where the drinks are concerned, I really didn't think the prices were that bad. What you're really paying for is the atmosphere and the experience. What you can expect at Nicky Blaine's: *Professional and knowledgeable waitstaff *Plush seating *Extensive drink and cigar menu with descriptions *Exclusive, dimly lit, sexy atmosphere *Smokey air - duh, it's a cigar bar Try this place out if you haven't already and give it another chance if you had a not so great experience the first time.

Nicky Blaine's is definitely more on the upscale side of the Indy bar scene but I think it is fun to go there from time to time to enjoy a martini, a "fancy people" atmosphere, and maybe even a girly cigarillo! The atmosphere is definitely reminiscent of a speak easy - dark, smoky, and lounge-type seating with couches and overstuffed chairs. Obviously it is a cigar bar, so be forewarned that you will leave this establishment smelling like you've just been transported back to 2002 when smoking in Indy bars was the norm and the lingering smell of smoke on your hair, clothes, and skin will definitely come along for the ride. In the strangest way, it's a sentimental smell vaguely reminiscent of my early 20s, haha.

Pretty nice location. We went in a Sunday night so it was pretty quiet and no big rush. Very good selections even though we were full and only had beer and cigars. If you're looking for a grown-up place to go and relax, I say go for it!

I definitely enjoy swinging by Nicky Blaine's for a good cigar and some scotch. Decent scotch selection, a lot of good cigars... It's also nice to me that the folks I have encountered here are well versed on their different drinks and sticks. Yeah, its a little smoky but hells bells, its a cigar lounge. I also enjoy that conversation can be had here without screaming into the patron 2 feet away only to have them ask you to repeat yourself. I'm at a lounge, if I wanted to repeat myself all day I'd open a daycare. I'll certainly continue to visit this pleasant establishment. Oh yeah, and the couches / tables make it pleasant for a small group. My only gripe (which is minor) is that they no longer have the boxes of better quality wood-stick matches.

Just a heads up, I am novice with cigars, so my review is for people who aren't very familiar with smoking lounges. Late on a Thursday night, a friend and I decided it was time for a cigar. So naturally, we made the drive down to Nicky Blaine's for a couple of cigars. We walked in and were quickly seated in some very comfy wingback chairs, which immediately made me feel like The Most Interesting Man in the World. Our waitress was wonderful, and provided us with very helpful recommendations for cigars, and my friend and I left very satisfied with our choice to visit.

Was in town on business and one of my agents wanted to take us to his cigar lounge. I don't smoke but decided to go for the martinis, since I heard great things. You must try the Vanilla Sex martini. It was in the top 3 best desert martini I have had. The waitress we had was an absolute crack up! I wish I could remember her name to give her a shout out. Our group was a little rowdy but it didn't phase her a bit. Any wise crack that was shot at her she came back at without a beat. The ventilation was decent and I was able to sit comfortably with my group and not get overwhelmed by the smoke. This does not mean that it is not smokey, because it is and you WILL walk away smelling like cigars. The atmosphere was comfortable and modeled after a speakeasy vibe. Loved it.

Who would have thought that my first cigar experience would be downtown, while wearing business clothing and a tie, while drinking a Manhattan? Although a bit pricey, the atmosphere leads you to believe that either you're about to have a meeting with the head of the mob or you're about to interact with Hugh Hefner and a few of his Playboy bunnies. Extremely dark and dimly lit, the place gives off an extremely fancy, intimate vibe. Littered with nice leather couches and chairs, you have a plethora of places to sit and chat while browsing through their extensive cigar menu. Aforementioned, I ordered a Manhattan and an Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 858 cigar. The total came out to around $35, which included 18% automatic gratuity and taxes. A bit expensive, but it was a good experience. I don't know cigars well, and if I really liked smoking them, so I went with one of the cheaper cigars. The waiter cut and lit the cigar for you and was attentive enough to our needs throughout the evening. Overall, it was a pleasure to finally attend and smoking/drinking session at Nicky Blaine's. Not sure when I'll make it back to this place, but I'm glad I've experienced it.

Friends of mine included Nicky Blaine's on our nightlife circuit of Indianapolis this summer. This was one venue I sorely wish I could have skipped and, for sake of my lungs as well as my eyes, I should have. We came down the stairs into a cavernous room meant to combine the old-fashioned gentleman's club with a cigar bar. Hostesses here are definitely hot young things who know how to primp and look their very best (and probably earn the tips to match). None of these factors were the problem. I personally love a goth boudoir look, epitomized by the Oakland -- a speakeasy -- in Ferndale, MI. I don't get in there nearly enough because I know I'd buy the place out and make it my front room. Nicky Blaine's propensity for velvet, a spot of leather, fine grained woods and polish all around. What sucked so bad was the atmosphere. This place is your arrogant jerk of a financier friend. It's the guy who flashes wads of cash, checks his Rolex, and dangles the keys to his Aston-Martin from a finger while he checks his schedule and blithely informs you he needs to be on the road because he's meeting Sidney Crosby and some pop stars for a dash across New York before his girlfriend gets to Chamonix for their apres ski drink. Oh, and he'll have to commission that jet. It's that sort of attempt to be awesome which lends itself so badly to the atmosphere. People here I think come to be seen. They want to practically light a cigar with a burning hundred dollar bill and complain about the 47% who fail to contribute to the economy. Bone up on a few catch phrases and key buzz words for maximum impact, and you'll be set. Of course it's smoky in here. If you are a non-smoker in company of smokers, you may want to invest in your own inhaler or a nebulizer, or pray that they decide not to stay for an hour and a half. It's part of the ambiance but they aren't kidding about it being a cigar bar; sensitize lungs are going to suffer. You can appreciate the excellent drinks menu and laugh at the prices in places. Seriously? $38 for a tumbler? I can buy half the bottle for that, or have a limited run whiskey shipped to me from Scotland, with a handwritten note from the distiller. On the other hand, they seem to pour pretty generously. I actually refrained from ordering anything due to being a little tipsy and long hours ahead, but I sampled some of the drinks friends ordered. They do not stint you, that's for certain. Nice to see there were lesser known brands of whiskey and scotch on the menu. The martinis looked great. But the clientele aside from my friends definitely left a foul taste in my mouth and a lot to be desired. They're the upgrade from the douchey sorts who hang out in the sports bars. At age 20, I've met them. The 35+ crowd congregates here, which makes for a lot of no-fun experience and the guys are set on making an impact that belittles everyone around them. Some of the things we heard that night STILL make me blanch.

A great place to spend a few hours if you happen to enjoy the finer things in life! Staff is amazing, atmosphere is great, and I can bring my favorite cigar with me. I stop by every time I am in Indy!

This is one of mine and my husband's favorite places in the city! Wonderful cocktails, the service on all counts is top shelf, and we can relax with some nice cigars. Conveniently situated next door to one of our favorite cigar shops (Hardwicke's), we go as often as we can. It is our go to for every con weekend. Gencon goers, this is one of those Indy establishments that shows respect and appreciation for geek clientele like us!

I came here a few weeks ago with some friends. It was the night before one of the guy's wedding and we wanted to take him out for a few drinks and a smoke. I hadn't been here before, but I had heard good things and figured we'd give it a shot. The place has a great feel to it - leather chairs, comfy sofas, dark lighting, the whole bit. It wasn't even as smoky as I figured it would be. They also have a good selection of cigars and, while they were missing a few of my favorites, I didn't have any trouble finding something I liked. They also make a good martini and have an expansive selection of house cocktails. I didn't look too closely at their list of Scotchs (I'll save that for next time), but one of my friends ordered some and he made it seem like they had some good choices. I suppose my only complaint would be that it's a little expensive, but I didn't mind paying for the atmosphere. They also charged a cover, which seemed a little excessive, but not a big deal. Overall it was a good place to hang out and talk about the good ole days with some friends - I'm sure we'll check Nicky Blaine's out again sometime.

Generally we love this place. Tonight we intended to stop by for drinks and cigars fully intending to spend a couple hundred bucks. But we didn't have any cash on us. So we couldn't pay the cover. The bouncer told us to walk around the corner to the ATM. We asked if we could charge the cover to our tab. He said no. We walked around the corner to find a fabulous bar in the lobby of the Conrad. Really Nicky?? Our bar tab at the Conrad was $200+. Was that really worth turning us away for $10?

What a great atmosphere, not to mention great service --and the best French Dip sandwich I have had in years!! If you want a great place to kick back and enjoy conversation and refreshments, this is the place. The pilot noir that our server suggested was great, and the veranda offered the best view in Indy--right on the circle downtown. For smokers, the selection of cigars will knock your socks off. A beautiful experience.

This place has gone downhill. Terrible music...depressing.

Besides the wait...they have a sign when you walk in that basically reads "wait to be seated" but the waitress and bartender were chatting off to the side of the bar. Finally I rec'd some attention and everything was fine. Nice to be able to go out for a few drinks and then come here to unwind with a stogie and a few more drinks. I wouldn't change anything about this place. Can't wait to try the patio next time I am in town during the summer.

I am biased toward loving it, because it is a cigar lounge. It is all that you would expect. Great cigar selection. Great scotch selection. Great service. And yes, believe it or not, it's smokey.

I haven't been here in a long time and I went on Saturday 29th after the ncaa games were over... It was dead. The cigars are great and the drinks are well made. It was smokey and I say this because some people don't get that a cigar lounge may be smokey. Hahaha. It wasn't the usual experience I'm used to and our waiter forgot about us toward the end of the night.

Service was great, selection was huge. Great list of martinis, scotch and bourbon. Cigar list was extensive. I was there early so they weren't busy, but I was very well taken care of. I will mashed it a point to try to get there every time I am in Indy.

So my friends were dragging me around downtown while visiting and we ended up in this basement establishment. I was not a fan. The service was super slow (strange for an almost empty bar on a Wednesday night) and obviously it was full of smoke - not really something to complain about because it IS a cigar bar - but not something I'm a fan of. I mean, smoking in a basement? Come-on... I couldn't escape quickly enough. Not to my taste.

Bartenders are awesome. The wait staff is a hit or miss. We had this one waitress give me an attitude cause she didn't have any recommendations for cigars. Like hello girl this is why you work here. The cigars are good once you figure out which one to get. Too bad it is downstairs and not a nice outdoor patio setting but otherwise a nice place to stop by after a heavy meal at St. Elmos or Oceanaire. Just pray you don't get the dimwitted waitress.

An underground dungeon that looks like its out of a Ralph Lauren commercial that allows cigar smoking? Yes please! The drinks are expensive but it's really worth it for the atmosphere. There are a lot of $30k millionaires here so beware of that, but it shouldn't hurt your good time. Sit back, relax, and have a drink. Enjoy watching the people who've had 5 martinis try to get up out of their couch and walk to the door. Yikes - Sea Legs! They do charge you a fee if you bring in a cigar from outside. It's $5 and beats paying through the nose for one. If you're in downtown Indy and don't mind the inside of your carryon luggage smelling like smoke the next day - come to Nicky Blaine's. P.S. order an Old Fashioned

Comfortable atmosphere, great service and knowledgeable staff. Cigars are a little expensive but always good and waiter offered up nice wine recommendation that went well with the cigar I chose. The shrimp cocktail was also very good and reasonably priced. Plenty of relaxing couches to kick back on and just relax. If you like cigar bars, I think this is Indy's best. The menu is not very extensive but what they do have is excellent, especially the portabella mushroom sandwich. They also have lots of cigar choices and a very nice wine/drink menu.

I went to this bar for the first time last weekend, and it was an alright experience. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either, just average. The crowd was older, and if they were younger it was kind of douchie. To put it into perspective, I went with my friend who is an investment banker... and never lets us forget it haha. The drinks were STRONG, and $10 minimum each, average priced for the city. We didn't get a chance to smoke cigars because the other girls who came with us had "asthma"... yeah that was real cool. Aside from that, the service was quick, and it was a cool speakeasy type setting. I really enjoyed that aspect of the bar. I'll probably end up going back again and actually smoke this time.

Old school bar that serves delicious chocolate martini. That stuff is dangerous! You don't even realize that you're drinking alcohol. You can have a cigar here, talk to some people and chill out.
