My family has been eating at Mi Amigos for approx 25 years, originally there were 4 locations in Indy but all have closed down except the one on Thompson and Emerson and that location just had a change in ownership, we just had an early dinner there which was our first visit since the ownership change, the menu is the same however I am sad to say the food quality has went down.

Shame on me for not checking Yelp before we walked in. This one is not for anyone. The place was almost completely empty at 6:30, first sign. (see my picture of the weird decor) Server came out, gave us the menus and wanted to take our order right away. She came back 3 times asking for our order before we actually knew what we wanted, next sign. Chips came out and we had to ask for salsa. Awful salsa, probably from a can or jar. No heat in any of the food. (or taste for that matter) There is no music or ambient sound, so it's pretty uncomfortable to sit in there. The silence did give us the ability to hear the microwave door opening and closing and the timer going off for each of the items in our dinners. Every single thing was microwaved. This place is NOT someplace to go for Mexican food. If I could give a half star, I would.

If you're looking for good tex-mex food do not come here. The chips are under a heat lamp and the salsa is in a squeeze bottle, and taste like ketchup with a hint of hot sauce- horrible. I ordered the burrito, while it wasn't the worst it was edible and a good portion. My waitress was more concerned about watching the soap operas on the 1970's tv than waiting on the customers. Probably won't come back even though the prices are reasonable but so is Taco Bell

My girlfriend and I went here just to try a new restaurant. We walked in and were not greeted then when the waiter/hostess finally acknowledged us she brought out chips (that were cold and almost stale)and we had to ask for salsa(which tasted like it was from a can). When we got our food we both took a bite and it didn't taste like what we had ordered in fact it didn't have any flavor at all. And even after we told the waitress the manager didn't come out it was the cook who came out and talked to us and still charged us for half a meal of each.overall if I could give negative stars I would

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service was terribly slow, even though there were maybe four other tables- our first red flag should have been how few people there were on a Saturday night in Indianapolis. The food was subpar, and that's being generous. The "regular" salsa is basically a taco sauce that comes in a squeeze bottle on the table. The "chunky" salsa (which you have to ask for) tastes like it came out of a store-bought jar. The chips are kept under a heat lamp. The entree wasn't bad (we had fajitas), but it wasn't great, and it definitely didn't make up for the rest of the experience. If you're in the area and in the mood for Mexican food, I highly recommend El Puerto which is just across the street. I'd also recommend Taco Bell before I'd suggest this place.

Not the absolute best Big Bob as it was called burrito but palatable. The food not the least bit authentic though it looked appealing. The chili for me seemed to be from a can ,the chips aren't made to order in fact were sitting in an aquarium looking bin with a heat lamp. The salsa was a mild sweet sauce with a tiny bit of kick. Over all, it has plenty of seating including booths, not enough staff, and for the food mediocre. For an $8.95 burrito I'll go elsewhere.

We visited this restaurant years ago and had excellent food and service. But, times have changed. The chips were good but the salsa tasted like weak ketchup and was served in a squeeze bottle. The server took our order and I requested cheese on the side. When we received our meal there was cheese sauce on my chimi and my husband didn't receive his salad until he reminded the server it was included. The chimi was very greasy so I could not eat it. My husband ordered a vegetarian burrito dinner which turned out to be beans and rice. He was to also have a cheese tamale which was a little blob of cheese. His dinner was more expensive than mine for packaged rice and canned beans. So, we will mark this place off our list os restaurants.

I love it. Get the monster nachos. I get it with out refried beans personally but it's delicious. I also get the yellow queso. It's seriously the best queso.

I don't know where to begin. The salsa was horrible, the chips were under a heat lamp. The burrito was not terrible, but was not good. The cook in the kitchen didn't have a single stove on and the microwave was their ultimate cooking machine. The service was not impressive. The decor was the most atrocious part of the entire place. All in all, I would rate my first and last experience a 2 out of 10.
