I like this bar and I appreciate that this place is attempting to be the statehouse bar. However, the prices are outrageous! I went here last night and ordered a cocktail and then a beer. The cocktail was $13.50!!! You can go to a specialty cocktail place in Indy like Ball and Biscuit or Libertine and get a cocktail max for $11 or $10 (Also, their prices are listed in their menu so you are aware of how much you are paying). My craft beer was $6.50!! With tip, I ended up paying $23 for 2 drinks!! Loughmiller's does not seem like a place that would charge this much for a cocktail and a craft beer. My friend has ordered house cab and it was $10. This is more expensive than the house cab at Tastings. Loughmiller's has a nice pub feel, but the prices are not pub-like. You're not paying for the atmosphere. I think this place would get a lot more attention if it wasn't so pricey.

Loughmillers is a real hole in the wall with decent food at semi-reasonable prices. I came with a girlfriend around 5:30p on a Friday and we happened to snag a small table. We had a nice waitress and I ordered the chicken wrap which came with chips and salsa. Real run of the mill - nothing special - but it was good. I had the wrap and 2 Stella's (beer) and my bill was $22. I'd go back but not certain I'll put it on my list of "must stops".

My wife and I visited Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery in Indianapolis, Indiana, during the FDIC conference in April. Dora here. Translation: the tiny restaurant was jammed! I chose the Skillet Burger, served on grilled sourdough bread, smothered in chili, and topped with melted cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, and fries. Like the name implies, this burger was served in a skillet and was intended to be eaten with a fork. The burger was good, the chili great. The only problem I had was the soggy sourdough bread, which was hard to overlook. Dora here. With a 30-minute wait, salivating as I watched plates pass by my nose, I finally ordered the Beer Cheese Burger. I think the kitchen was slightly overwhelmed because when I finally did get my burger another 30 minutes later, the heavy cheese spread clumped on top overpowered the less-than-lukewarm burger. Bummer. Should've chosen the fish sandwich, which seemed to be a favorite as well. I would rate this restaurant 3 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant that serves good food. Went in here after dinner at an average place downtown because it was on the way to the hotel. The girlfriend was with me and she was in a particular mood. I told the bartender I needed his professional help at making her a little happier. Rolled in on a Friday evening. I decided for the southwest chicken salad. Such a good choice! The chicken was warm and had grilled veggies. The salad is huge, so be prepared. My server was very attentive, but not in a pestering way. The music they had going was amazing! For parents...this is a 21 and up establishment. Nutshell: Good pub grub for a pretty typical price. Thank God for the smoking ban. This place used to be the smoky bar you see in the movies where politicians and lobbyists make backroom deals (it's the closest bar to the Statehouse). Now you can actually breathe (and see) in there. They have a nice selection of local and regional beers which is a plus in my book. The bartenders are very fast and will chat you up if you desire. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's decent and comes out really quick (they're used to turning around the huge lunch crowd fast).

Sometimes... no, make that EVERY time... I get off a three-and-a-half-hour-if-you're-lucky Megabus from Chicago, and I take a nice walk from East Washington to West Washington, to the Springhill by Marriott hotel I'm staying at, only to encounter five Marriotts, along with their preferred restaurant, TGI Fridays, and I have to idea which door to go in (but that's another review goo.gl/X4KAko )... Well, to tell you the truth, I need a stiff drink as soon as I can get one, at a real bar where they "...serve hard drinks for men who want to get drunk fast."* The chill bartender at Loughmiller makes a good Manhattan cocktail (a little pricey for Indy, but a generous pour), and he keeps the water back full too. The cheeseburger was delicious, cooked to a perfect medium, with cheddar and grilled onions. Crinkle fries that were crisp on the crinkles, soft on the inside, and srirachi sauce available to make them shine. Not many folks in on a Wednesday night, but the waitress with the cute, curly blonde "do" was walking miles to the tables where they were lingering, inside and out, on a warm summer's night. If I'm ever back to Indy for a second time, I may just grab one of those street-side tables. I only had one drink, all the better to return to the correct one of the five Marriotts and sleep, perhaps to dream, of Mary Bailey--the one in Bedford Falls. The Kwanis international convention brought me to Indianapolis and to this wonderful pub. First on the agenda: Guinness draft! Then my friend Jo introduced me to an Iowa favorite. Yes, I said Iowa! Jo was delighted to find something from home that she settled on it right away. We both had pork tenderloin sandwiches. The pork was breaded and still moist. She suggested we load our sandwiches with all the trimmings for a beef burger so I added red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Now I can't imagine why a pork tenderloin sandwich isn't on all the menus back home in Ohio. The pub is filled with local color and the servers were kind and timely.

The standard for weekday dining downtown. It is off the beaten path a bit, so it is great for State of Indiana workers -- it's outside the "convention circle" so there usually is not a wait for a table. The food is standard pub fare and done pretty well. They were accommodating and nice when I asked to have my buffalo chicken grilled instead of the fried patty. Service is prompt and efficient -- again, they know how to do lunch. You can't beat a quick tasty lunch for under $10 in Downtown Indy. I noted in my prior review that it smells like they did not fully clean after they went to non-smoking. I still stand by that statement, but I admit that I am VERY sensitive to the smell and most people likely would not notice it. The restaurant responded to my review. Props to them for reading my review and reaching out. The effort to educate their customers and actually care about their opinions earned them an extra "service" star from me! Here's what they had to say about the smoke smell: "As far as the odor your picking up on, I don't know what to tell you. Since going non smoking we have re painted the walls, had the ceiling cleaned, installed a new beer system which included throwing out the old draft beer coolers and having a state of the art cooler and glycol system put in. We have a cleaning crew come in nightly and I know that all the fixtures are cleaned weekly. The upholstery on the booths were steam cleaned, the wood is oiled weekly and the bunting is taken to the dry cleaner every six months, sooo...Sorry?"

My Marriott contact at the hotel reccommended this hole in the wall pub. After a day of traveling, I just wanted a beer and quick but deleicious food. The restaraunt was literally next to my hotel and I would have never noticed it without her recommendation. It was a hole in the wall but the food was amazing. I had the pesto bird and as a pesto fanatic... I fell in love. It was a chicken sandwhich on a bun with pesto alioi sauce and cheese on a bun. I ate the chicken without the bun and it was amazing.

Great stop in late afternoon after being an Indy tourist. Because the kids were in tow, we had to sit on the patio, which was nicely shaded with a great view of downtown and the Capitol. Had the Pita and Hummus app - beer cheese and feta spiced hummus were excellent. Side salads were crisp and kids loved the corn dog app. Good craft brews on draught with plenty of Indiana reps. Pronounced "Lock-millers", as their menu says. This was just across the street from our hotel on a recent stay so we decided on dinner and drinks here. There was a HUGE group milling about, just inside the door, making it very difficult to get to the tables that actually were open. Our waitress was very nice but, even after the crowd cleared out, service was slow. I had to look for/find her a few times. We ordered the pita chips appetizer, but they were out of the feta dip. They replaced it with salsa but that's not really the same. The beer cheese dip was alright. I got the fish sandwich and the fish was really good. I also enjoyed a Moscow Mule with my dinner. A great summer drink!

I've only ever eaten at Loughmiller's via their delivery service on OrderUp (which I also recommend) and I've enjoyed it! My absolute do-not-miss is the jalapeño cheese bites! I think they are crazy good and their ranch dressing is awesome - which any respectable Hoosier knows to be an imperative staple to a good meal. I've also enjoyed their dip trio with the hummus, feta cheese goodness, and beer cheese!

Pretty cool place for a first timer.. I hadn't been here but I'd heard about it from some co-workers. We swung by after an Indians game and had a few drinks and snacks. They have a decent beer selection with some good ones on tap. They also have some food.. we just had some mini corn drops and buffalo chicken tenders.. Both were good.. The corn dogs hit the spot as I hadn't had them in a long time. Tender were good, not super spicy. They have an indoor and outdoor area. The chairs outside aren't very comfortable, but they get the job done. Great view of some of downtown from the outdoor area. Service was good as she kept us filled up and got our food out pretty quickly.

This place was phenomenal! Went here for lunch while at a conference downtown. I wanted to meet a friend someplace local but also didn't want the normal burger and fries or fast food. I decided to get the pesto bird and was blown away by this flavor bomb!! I didn't know what to expect but got so much more! Grilled chicken breast to perfection, topped with Swiss cheese, pesto aioli, avacado, lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato. It was juicy, messy, crunchy and just what I needed to put me in a food coma for the 2nd half of a boring day of convention going. I can't wait for another downtown adventure so I can go again!

It was hard to pick between 4 and 5 stars. The food was very good. They had a wide selection of local craft beers to choose from (10-ish). The ambiance was spot on. It was clearly a neighborhood pub, which was perfect for our group. The service was good and the server was fantastic. (more on how that could be different later). The fifth star was decided after realizing that we visited 3 times in a 30 hour period. With all of the other choices close by, for a place to draw the group in that consistently, it must have been pretty good. Loughmiller's is a pub. A sometimes crowded pub. Live music Fri/Sat night. The music Saturday was very good. Loud enough to enjoy, not so loud as to drown out conversation. We had the Fish and Chips special on Friday -- perfect. Burger on Saturday - flavorful, perfectly cooked. Now for the service.... We occasionally waited a short amount on beer refills, but the place was extremely crowded. Not going to attribute that to the server, just the general busy nature of the pub. Now for the server. Always save the best for last, right? She was extremely reluctant to give out her name (it's a secret). How odd. And then, we realized that this was just the beginning of the Hannah show. Hannah is this fantastic, irreverent, fireball of a server (and prep cook it turns out). It started with 3 of us for dinner on Friday. Beers and dinner. She was funny, quick, attentive, and helpful. You couldn't ask for more. It continued with lunch on Saturday - not serving, turns out she was in the kitchen doing prep. It finished on Saturday night for drinks. More irreverence. Always smiling and making sure that everyone enjoys their visit to Loughmiller's Pub. We have been to Indianapolis many times for the Big Ten Basketball tournament and have passed by Loughmiller's probably 100 times. Realizing now what a mistake it was not to have stopped in. Definitely will be back whenever I am in town.

Visited here while in Indy for a cheerleading competition. This place is awesome!! My wife liked it too. Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Didn't eat here but the menu looked awesome. I asked if they had any three floyds - unfortunately they did not but the bartender quickly pointed me to a local beer that was similar - Sun king Osiris. I would definitely visit again and recommend!! This place is great.

This was my first visit to Loughmiller's (pronounced "lock" - Millers, according to the menu.) The atmosphere is cool and unique in this tiny pub, politics/election themed, which is apt, considering its location, across the street from the South building of the State Government campus. We decided to try it before we headed to Victory Field for a baseball game, and, since I park in the state government lot, it was very close. It only took us about five minutes to walk from the pub to the field. It was not very crowded around 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Our company included a few patrons at the bar next to us and one table of four. The bartender was affable and attentive. Our first round was the special, Triton Sin Bin. It was a very full flavored beer, with a bit of a fruity aftertaste (I'm no craft beer aficionado, please forgive me if my descriptions are vague or lacking! I'm usually the one ordering Bug Light.) It was a little too strong for me, so for the second round, I tried the Terre Haute Brewing Company recipe Champagne Velvet. This was right up my alley. Light, refreshing, delicious! I highly recommend it. My boyfriend enjoyed the Sin Bin, so he stuck with it. I loved the descriptive stories surrounding each beer, helpfully printed on the menu. I liked the one about the CV so much that it actually influenced my decision to try it. I even looked up the history of the THBC later on. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that, except to say the gentleman next to us at the bar ordered the deep fried jalepeno cheese stuffed pretzel appetizer and WOW did it look good. The portion was HUGE. Bring your appetite if you want to order a starter there! (And check the diet at the door, the menu is heavy on the deep fried side of things.) The prices seemed on par for a downtown pub. We spent around $30 for four craft beers including tip. Not cheap, but not out of line with other local spots. I'd recommend Loughmiller's for anyone looking for a low key spot to hang out before the game. The craft beer is as expensive as the domestics at the ball park, so don't expect to pre-game inexpensively.

Their selection of local craft beers is decent. I was able to get Fountain Square Brewery and hubby got Flat 12 I believe. Also had good food. I got the breaded fish sandwich, which you could tell was freshly made (had to wait several minutes for it to cool down to eat it), the flavor was great, it was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge! Hubby got a burger which he enjoyed as well. Overall, this place is a great pub/bar & grill. The prices are decent, foods good, service was great, and it is in a good location downtown near the state house.

Loughmiller's is a great place to stop in for a meal while you're near the convention center or White River State Park. The burgers I've had are tasty and the beer selection is pretty good. The first time I went, we walked half the Canal, stopped for a gluttonous lunch then walked the rest of the way around the Canal. Totally negates the calories, right? There's a small patio area, where you can sit and people watch.

We stopped here for a late lunch and everything was average or less so. Cheeseburgers were somewhat flavorful but thin. The pork tenderloin sandwich had almost no flavor and the side salad greens were iceberg lettuce with cucumbers and tomato. The beer list was fine but nothing extensive for a pub. Luckily the service was friendly and the prices pretty cheap. I'd much rather spend a couple of bucks more for a better kitchen.

Yes, today was busy, however, my colleagues and I joined others for lunch today and placed 3 orders, all cold food, within 5 minutes of joining our table. After an hour we still did not have food but 3 different people told us our tickets had been placed. Then we learned that our tickets still were not in production. classic bar right across from the statehouse that does a great lunch. the sandwiches are terrific and the atmosphere feels old school. not just a great bar, but than you realize loughmiller's history in indiana politics given it location. not quite old ebbitt grill (oldest bar in DC), but still steeped with indiana politics. though the crowd at lunch will be more regular, it's always a crapshoot because the bar sits in between two hotels. lots of visitors. plenty of tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, but there is a bar. it's an old school wood bar top with a classic rail. stools that are padded with back support. the bar back is mainly bottles & buntings with a couple tvs. brass hanging glassware racks make loughmillers feel even older school. easy place to have a good time. owner/manager quick to contact & embrace yelp reviews. wants to make everything great for customer.

Luckily I had a long break before the next meeting, because I would have been late (and mad) after waiting 45 minutes for mediocre food. But since I had extra time, I'm glad I stopped in for lunch so that I know not to try this place again. We were only a group of 4, and that place was pretty busy but they looked well staffed. We were promptly seated and our order was taken shortly after. My buffalo chicken wrap (which was recommended by the server over the fish and chips) was BORING. Very little flavor, and I don't think I ever found any buffalo. I'd hate to try the fish & chips.

I've been in Indy for a conference the past few days and this place is great if you hate places that are typically by convention centers. I came here several times. It is a laid back, easy bar with good food, good people, and free wifi. Draughts are going to run you 6 bucks but almost all the taps are local brews. The bar staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. Ben is the absolute best and will make you feel right at home. Loughmiller claims to be your neighborhood bar and that is 100% what it feels like even for one-time visitors or out of towners.

Well, I've been wanting to come here for years. Finally tried this place on a weekend evening and was pretty disappointed. I liked the atmosphere and our server was wonderful. But, the food was really disappointing. Everything tasted like it was previously frozen, the cheeseburger was so cold that the cheese wasn't even melted and the Reuben was a soggy, greasy mess. Not to mention that all of the prices, food & alcohol, seemed to be marked-up about 30% higher than they should be. I'm not one to ever complain about prices but this place definitely needs to step it up a bit to justify their pricing.

I went there today while I was waiting for a meeting. I was in at lunchtime and the staff was great! They greeted me right away and the service was spot on. They are a little pricey though ($7.50 for a garden salad, $6.50 for a small cup of chilli). However, I got it fast and the chilli was very good. Packed at lunch with the heavy hitters from the statehouse and a nice mix of downtown workers it's hard to get a table in this quaint political pub. The Indiana Cobb salad is great with a slightly sweet dressing and the Nutty Bird is a healthy sandwich delight! The salads are all pretty good and the buffalo chicken fingers are pretty delicious. We always have great service even if the waitstaff is quirky! Beware it is smoking in here which means in Marion County - no kids allowed and the beer selection is mostly macros.

Wandered in this pub because we were strolling around downtown. I completely forgot the laws are different in Indiana, so walking into a pub that allowed smoking indoors was a complete shock to me. The cook tried to pass off rotten avocado as browned because of the heat, even sending it back to me to eat after I thought it was maybe mushroom. It was disgusting. My re-done sandwich was undercooked, and the rest of the food tasted like overpriced cheap diner food.

The servers here are always fun and irreverant, which I love in my waitstaff. Don't be fake, just be nice and courteous and quick! I've had the cheeseburger and the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and both have been great. The pasta salad has a little too much dressing for my taste, but it's pretty good. Fries are GREAT. I've heard the Indiana Cobb salad is really good too. It's pretty quick for lunch on weekdays which makes it ideal. I usually spend between $12 and $15 including drink and tip.

Packed at lunch with the state capitol crowd, this place has quirky service and a good dinner menu. There's a full bar and a TV usually tuned to CNN or CSPAN. They sometimes send the cook home early if it's a slow night. Although it's mostly pub food, the salads are pretty good (I like the Indiana Cobb with blue cheese instead of feta). Free wi-fi and smoking is allowed.

Maybe one day soon we will actually get our food.... We stopped in for lunch while I was in town for a meeting. Luckily I had a long break before the next meeting, because I would have been late (and mad) after waiting 45 minutes for mediocre food. But since I had extra time, I'm glad I stopped in for lunch so that I know not to try this place again. We were only a group of 4, and that place was pretty busy but they looked well staffed. We were promptly seated and our order was taken shortly after. My buffalo chicken wrap (which was recommended by the server over the fish and chips) was BORING. Very little flavor, and I don't think I ever found any buffalo. I'd hate to try the fish & chips.

I've been in Indy for a conference the past few days and this place is great if you hate places that are typically by convention centers. I came here several times. It is a laid back, easy bar with good food, good people, and free wifi. Draughts are going to run you 6 bucks but almost all the taps are local brews. The bar staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. Ben is the absolute best and will make you feel right at home. Loughmiller claims to be your neighborhood bar and that is 100% what it feels like even for one-time visitors or out of towners.

Well, I've been wanting to come here for years. Finally tried this place on a weekend evening and was pretty disappointed. I liked the atmosphere and our server was wonderful. But, the food was really disappointing. Everything tasted like it was previously frozen, the cheeseburger was so cold that the cheese wasn't even melted and the Reuben was a soggy, greasy mess. Not to mention that all of the prices, food & alcohol, seemed to be marked-up about 30% higher than they should be. I'm not one to ever complain about prices but this place definitely needs to step it up a bit to justify their pricing.

Went there for dinner and we were thoroughly unimpressed. Limited menu, average food. Potato salad I had probably came straight out of a GFS container. There were very few people there but the service was inattentive. Must be a great bar because it's barely adequate as a restaurant. We won't be going back.

I went there today while I was waiting for a meeting. I was in at lunchtime and the staff was great! They greeted me right away and the service was spot on. They are a little pricey though ($7.50 for a garden salad, $6.50 for a small cup of chilli). However, I got it fast and the chilli was very good. It's not normal for me to find a local bar/pub warm and inviting but I did with this one. Next time I'm in Indy..I'll be headed there.

Thank God for the smoking ban. This place used to be the smoky bar you see in the movies where politicians and lobbyists make backroom deals (it's the closest bar to the Statehouse). Now you can actually breathe (and see) in there. They have a nice selection of local and regional beers which is a plus in my book. The bartenders are very fast and will chat you up if you desire. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's decent and comes out really quick (they're used to turning around the huge lunch crowd fast).

It was hard to pick between 4 and 5 stars. The food was very good. They had a wide selection of local craft beers to choose from (10-ish). The ambiance was spot on. It was clearly a neighborhood pub, which was perfect for our group. The service was good and the server was fantastic. (more on how that could be different later). The fifth star was decided after realizing that we visited 3 times in a 30 hour period. With all of the other choices close by, for a place to draw the group in that consistently, it must have been pretty good. Loughmiller's is a pub. A sometimes crowded pub. Live music Fri/Sat night. The music Saturday was very good. Loud enough to enjoy, not so loud as to drown out conversation. We had the Fish and Chips special on Friday -- perfect. Burger on Saturday - flavorful, perfectly cooked. Now for the service.... We occasionally waited a short amount on beer refills, but the place was extremely crowded. Not going to attribute that to the server, just the general busy nature of the pub. Now for the server. Always save the best for last, right? She was extremely reluctant to give out her name (it's a secret). How odd. And then, we realized that this was just the beginning of the Hannah show. Hannah is this fantastic, irreverent, fireball of a server (and prep cook it turns out). It started with 3 of us for dinner on Friday. Beers and dinner. She was funny, quick, attentive, and helpful. You couldn't ask for more. It continued with lunch on Saturday - not serving, turns out she was in the kitchen doing prep. It finished on Saturday night for drinks. More irreverence. Always smiling and making sure that everyone enjoys their visit to Loughmiller's Pub. We have been to Indianapolis many times for the Big Ten Basketball tournament and have passed by Loughmiller's probably 100 times. Realizing now what a mistake it was not to have stopped in. Definitely will be back whenever I am in town.

Visited here while in Indy for a cheerleading competition. This place is awesome!! My wife liked it too. Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Didn't eat here but the menu looked awesome. I asked if they had any three floyds - unfortunately they did not but the bartender quickly pointed me to a local beer that was similar - Sun king Osiris. This place was phenomenal! Went here for lunch while at a conference downtown. I wanted to meet a friend someplace local but also didn't want the normal burger and fries or fast food. I decided to get the pesto bird and was blown away by this flavor bomb!! I didn't know what to expect but got so much more! Grilled chicken breast to perfection, topped with Swiss cheese, pesto aioli, avacado, lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato. It was juicy, messy, crunchy and just what I needed to put me in a food coma for the 2nd half of a boring day of convention going. I can't wait for another downtown adventure so I can go again!

Wandered in this pub because we were strolling around downtown. I completely forgot the laws are different in Indiana, so walking into a pub that allowed smoking indoors was a complete shock to me. Should have wandered somewhere else, but due to laziness, decided to stay. Ordered a sandwich, I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was dry and salty. Did not like it at all. Waiter did his job and we didn't have a problem with him, but he was uber boring. Overall, I was unimpressed with the atmosphere, service, and food.

Rolled in on a Friday evening. I decided for the southwest chicken salad. Such a good choice! The chicken was warm and had grilled veggies. The salad is huge, so be prepared. My server was very attentive, but not in a pestering way. The music they had going was amazing! For parents...this is a 21 and up establishment. Nutshell: Good pub grub for a pretty typical price. Definitely recommend the stop.

The standard for weekday dining downtown. It is off the beaten path a bit, so it is great for State of Indiana workers -- it's outside the "convention circle" so there usually is not a wait for a table. The food is standard pub fare and done pretty well. They were accommodating and nice when I asked to have my buffalo chicken grilled instead of the fried patty. Service is prompt and efficient -- again, they know how to do lunch. You can't beat a quick tasty lunch for under $10 in Downtown Indy. I noted in my prior review that it smells like they did not fully clean after they went to non-smoking. I still stand by that statement, but I admit that I am VERY sensitive to the smell and most people likely would not notice it. The restaurant responded to my review. Props to them for reading my review and reaching out. The effort to educate their customers and actually care about their opinions earned them an extra "service" star from me! Here's what they had to say about the smoke smell: "As far as the odor your picking up on, I don't know what to tell you. Since going non smoking we have re painted the walls, had the ceiling cleaned, installed a new beer system which included throwing out the old draft beer coolers and having a state of the art cooler and glycol system put in. We have a cleaning crew come in nightly and I know that all the fixtures are cleaned weekly. The upholstery on the booths were steam cleaned, the wood is oiled weekly and the bunting is taken to the dry cleaner every six months, sooo...Sorry?"

I like this bar and I appreciate that this place is attempting to be the statehouse bar. However, the prices are outrageous! I went here last night and ordered a cocktail and then a beer. The cocktail was $13.50!!! You can go to a specialty cocktail place in Indy like Ball and Biscuit or Libertine and get a cocktail max for $11 or $10 (Also, their prices are listed in their menu so you are aware of how much you are paying). My craft beer was $6.50!! With tip, I ended up paying $23 for 2 drinks!! Loughmiller's does not seem like a place that would charge this much for a cocktail and a craft beer. My friend has ordered house cab and it was $10. This is more expensive than the house cab at Tastings. Loughmiller's has a nice pub feel, but the prices are not pub-like. You're not paying for the atmosphere. I think this place would get a lot more attention if it wasn't so pricey.

Loughmillers is a real hole in the wall with decent food at semi-reasonable prices. I came with a girlfriend around 5:30p on a Friday and we happened to snag a small table. We had a nice waitress and I ordered the chicken wrap which came with chips and salsa. Real run of the mill - nothing special - but it was good. I had the wrap and 2 Stella's (beer) and my bill was $22. I'd go back but not certain I'll put it on my list of "must stops".

My wife and I visited Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery in Indianapolis, Indiana, during the FDIC conference in April. Dora here. Translation: the tiny restaurant was jammed! I chose the Skillet Burger, served on grilled sourdough bread, smothered in chili, and topped with melted cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, and fries. Like the name implies, this burger was served in a skillet and was intended to be eaten with a fork. The burger was good, the chili great. The only problem I had was the soggy sourdough bread, which was hard to overlook. Dora here. With a 30-minute wait, salivating as I watched plates pass by my nose, I finally ordered the Beer Cheese Burger. I think the kitchen was slightly overwhelmed because when I finally did get my burger another 30 minutes later, the heavy cheese spread clumped on top overpowered the less-than-lukewarm burger. Bummer. Should've chosen the fish sandwich, which seemed to be a favorite as well. I would rate this restaurant 3 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant that serves good food. Sometimes... no, make that EVERY time... I get off a three-and-a-half-hour-if-you're-lucky Megabus from Chicago, and I take a nice walk from East Washington to West Washington, to the Springhill by Marriott hotel I'm staying at, only to encounter five Marriotts, along with their preferred restaurant, TGI Fridays, and I have to idea which door to go in (but that's another review goo.gl/X4KAko )... Well, to tell you the truth, I need a stiff drink as soon as I can get one, at a real bar where they "...serve hard drinks for men who want to get drunk fast."* The chill bartender at Loughmiller makes a good Manhattan cocktail (a little pricey for Indy, but a generous pour), and he keeps the water back full too. The cheeseburger was delicious, cooked to a perfect medium, with cheddar and grilled onions. Crinkle fries that were crisp on the crinkles, soft on the inside, and srirachi sauce available to make them shine. Not many folks in on a Wednesday night, but the waitress with the cute, curly blonde "do" was walking miles to the tables where they were lingering, inside and out, on a warm summer's night. If I'm ever back to Indy for a second time, I may just grab one of those street-side tables. I only had one drink, all the better to return to the correct one of the five Marriotts and sleep, perhaps to dream, of Mary Bailey--the one in Bedford Falls. The Kwanis international convention brought me to Indianapolis and to this wonderful pub. First on the agenda: Guinness draft! Then my friend Jo introduced me to an Iowa favorite. Yes, I said Iowa! Jo was delighted to find something from home that she settled on it right away. We both had pork tenderloin sandwiches. The pork was breaded and still moist. She suggested we load our sandwiches with all the trimmings for a beef burger so I added red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Now I can't imagine why a pork tenderloin sandwich isn't on all the menus back home in Ohio. The pub is filled with local color and the servers were kind and timely.

Great stop in late afternoon after being an Indy tourist. Because the kids were in tow, we had to sit on the patio, which was nicely shaded with a great view of downtown and the Capitol. Had the Pita and Hummus app - beer cheese and feta spiced hummus were excellent. Side salads were crisp and kids loved the corn dog app. Good craft brews on draught with plenty of Indiana reps. The waitstaff was friendly, food delivery was quick, and taking a beer for the rest of the day's walkabout was great too! Will definitely come back!

Pronounced "Lock-millers", as their menu says. This was just across the street from our hotel on a recent stay so we decided on dinner and drinks here. There was a HUGE group milling about, just inside the door, making it very difficult to get to the tables that actually were open. Our waitress was very nice but, even after the crowd cleared out, service was slow. I had to look for/find her a few times. We ordered the pita chips appetizer, but they were out of the feta dip. They replaced it with salsa but that's not really the same. The beer cheese dip was alright. I got the fish sandwich and the fish was really good. I also enjoyed a Moscow Mule with my dinner. A great summer drink!

I've only ever eaten at Loughmiller's via their delivery service on OrderUp (which I also recommend) and I've enjoyed it! My absolute do-not-miss is the jalapeño cheese bites! I think they are crazy good and their ranch dressing is awesome - which any respectable Hoosier knows to be an imperative staple to a good meal. Pretty cool place for a first timer.. I hadn't been here but I'd heard about it from some co-workers. We swung by after an Indians game and had a few drinks and snacks. They have a decent beer selection with some good ones on tap. They also have some food.. we just had some mini corn drops and buffalo chicken tenders.. Both were good.. The corn dogs hit the spot as I hadn't had them in a long time. Tender were good, not super spicy. They have an indoor and outdoor area. The chairs outside aren't very comfortable, but they get the job done. Great view of some of downtown from the outdoor area. Service was good as she kept us filled up and got our food out pretty quickly.

This place was phenomenal! Went here for lunch while at a conference downtown. I wanted to meet a friend someplace local but also didn't want the normal burger and fries or fast food. I decided to get the pesto bird and was blown away by this flavor bomb!! I didn't know what to expect but got so much more! Grilled chicken breast to perfection, topped with Swiss cheese, pesto aioli, avacado, lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato. It was juicy, messy, crunchy and just what I needed to put me in a food coma for the 2nd half of a boring day of convention going. I can't wait for another downtown adventure so I can go again!

Rolled in on a Friday evening. I decided for the southwest chicken salad. Such a good choice! The chicken was warm and had grilled veggies. The salad is huge, so be prepared. My server was very attentive, but not in a pestering way. The music they had going was amazing! For parents...this is a 21 and up establishment. Nutshell: Good pub grub for a pretty typical price. Definitely recommend the stop.

Thank God for the smoking ban. This place used to be the smoky bar you see in the movies where politicians and lobbyists make backroom deals (it's the closest bar to the Statehouse). Now you can actually breathe (and see) in there. They have a nice selection of local and regional beers which is a plus in my book. The bartenders are very fast and will chat you up if you desire. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's decent and comes out really quick (they're used to turning around the huge lunch crowd fast).

The standard for weekday dining downtown. It is off the beaten path a bit, so it is great for State of Indiana workers -- it's outside the "convention circle" so there usually is not a wait for a table. The food is standard pub fare and done pretty well. They were accommodating and nice when I asked to have my buffalo chicken grilled instead of the fried patty. Service is prompt and efficient -- again, they know how to do lunch. You can't beat a quick tasty lunch for under $10 in Downtown Indy. I noted in my prior review that it smells like they did not fully clean after they went to non-smoking. I still stand by that statement, but I admit that I am VERY sensitive to the smell and most people likely would not notice it. The restaurant responded to my review. Props to them for reading my review and reaching out. The effort to educate their customers and actually care about their opinions earned them an extra "service" star from me! Here's what they had to say about the smoke smell: "As far as the odor your picking up on, I don't know what to tell you. Since going non smoking we have re painted the walls, had the ceiling cleaned, installed a new beer system which included throwing out the old draft beer coolers and having a state of the art cooler and glycol system put in. We have a cleaning crew come in nightly and I know that all the fixtures are cleaned weekly. The upholstery on the booths were steam cleaned, the wood is oiled weekly and the bunting is taken to the dry cleaner every six months, sooo...Sorry?"

I like this bar and I appreciate that this place is attempting to be the statehouse bar. However, the prices are outrageous! I went here last night and ordered a cocktail and then a beer. The cocktail was $13.50!!! You can go to a specialty cocktail place in Indy like Ball and Biscuit or Libertine and get a cocktail max for $11 or $10 (Also, their prices are listed in their menu so you are aware of how much you are paying). My craft beer was $6.50!! With tip, I ended up paying $23 for 2 drinks!! Loughmiller's does not seem like a place that would charge this much for a cocktail and a craft beer. My friend has ordered house cab and it was $10. This is more expensive than the house cab at Tastings. Loughmiller's has a nice pub feel, but the prices are not pub-like. You're not paying for the atmosphere. I think this place would get a lot more attention if it wasn't so pricey.

Loughmillers is a real hole in the wall with decent food at semi-reasonable prices. I came with a girlfriend around 5:30p on a Friday and we happened to snag a small table. We had a nice waitress and I ordered the chicken wrap which came with chips and salsa. Real run of the mill - nothing special - but it was good. I had the wrap and 2 Stella's (beer) and my bill was $22. I'd go back but not certain I'll put it on my list of "must stops".

Went in here after dinner at an average place downtown because it was on the way to the hotel. The girlfriend was with me and she was in a particular mood. I told the bartender I needed his professional help at making her a little happier. I described her mood and tastes and he hand built this blueberry vodka concoction that completely turned her mood around. Five stars to a bartender capable of reversing a woman's mood.

The pork tenderloin sandwich had almost no flavor and the side salad greens were iceberg lettuce with cucumbers and tomato. The beer list was fine but nothing extensive for a pub. Luckily the service was friendly and the prices pretty cheap. I'd much rather spend a couple of bucks more for a better kitchen.

Yes, today was busy, however, my colleagues and I joined others for lunch today and placed 3 orders, all cold food, within 5 minutes of joining our table. After an hour we still did not have food but 3 different people told us our tickets had been placed. Then we learned that our tickets still were not in production. People all around us placed orders after ours, their food was delivered, they ate, and left. I am mostly disturbed that no one was honest with us. I will not be giving them another chance.

This was my first visit to Loughmiller's (pronounced "lock" - Millers, according to the menu.) The atmosphere is cool and unique in this tiny pub, politics/election themed, which is apt, considering its location, across the street from the South building of the State Government campus. We decided to try it before we headed to Victory Field for a baseball game, and, since I park in the state government lot, it was very close. It only took us about five minutes to walk from the pub to the field. It was not very crowded around 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Our company included a few patrons at the bar next to us and one table of four. The bartender was affable and attentive. Our first round was the special, Triton Sin Bin. It was a very full flavored beer, with a bit of a fruity aftertaste (I'm no craft beer aficionado, please forgive me if my descriptions are vague or lacking! I'm usually the one ordering Bug Light.) It was a little too strong for me, so for the second round, I tried the Terre Haute Brewing Company recipe Champagne Velvet. This was right up my alley. Light, refreshing, delicious! I highly recommend it. My boyfriend enjoyed the Sin Bin, so he stuck with it. I loved the descriptive stories surrounding each beer, helpfully printed on the menu. I liked the one about the CV so much that it actually influenced my decision to try it. I even looked up the history of the THBC later on. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that, except to say the gentleman next to us at the bar ordered the deep fried jalepeno cheese stuffed pretzel appetizer and WOW did it look good. The portion was HUGE. Bring your appetite if you want to order a starter there! (And check the diet at the door, the menu is heavy on the deep fried side of things.) The prices seemed on par for a downtown pub. We spent around $30 for four craft beers including tip. Not cheap, but not out of line with other local spots. I'd recommend Loughmiller's for anyone looking for a low key spot to hang out before the game. The craft beer is as expensive as the domestics at the ball park, so don't expect to pre-game inexpensively.

My wife and I visited Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery in Indianapolis, Indiana, during the FDIC conference in April. Dora here. Translation: the tiny restaurant was jammed! I chose the Skillet Burger, served on grilled sourdough bread, smothered in chili, and topped with melted cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, and fries. Like the name implies, this burger was served in a skillet and was intended to be eaten with a fork. The burger was good, the chili great. The only problem I had was the soggy sourdough bread, which was hard to overlook. Dora here. With a 30-minute wait, salivating as I watched plates pass by my nose, I finally ordered the Beer Cheese Burger. I think the kitchen was slightly overwhelmed because when I finally did get my burger another 30 minutes later, the heavy cheese spread clumped on top overpowered the less-than-lukewarm burger. Bummer. Should've chosen the fish sandwich, which seemed to be a favorite as well. I would rate this restaurant 3 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant that serves good food. My Marriott contact at the hotel reccommended this hole in the wall pub. After a day of traveling, I just wanted a beer and quick but deleicious food. The restaraunt was literally next to my hotel and I would have never noticed it without her recommendation. It was a hole in the wall but the food was amazing. I had the pesto bird and as a pesto fanatic... I fell in love. It was a chicken sandwhich on a bun with pesto alioi sauce and cheese on a bun. I ate the chicken without the bun and it was amazing.

Pretty cool place for a first timer.. I hadn't been here but I'd heard about it from some co-workers. We swung by after an Indians game and had a few drinks and snacks. They have a decent beer selection with some good ones on tap. They also have some food.. we just had some mini corn drops and buffalo chicken tenders.. Both were good.. The corn dogs hit the spot as I hadn't had them in a long time. Tender were good, not super spicy. They have an indoor and outdoor area. The chairs outside aren't very comfortable, but they get the job done. Great view of some of downtown from the outdoor area. Service was good as she kept us filled up and got our food out pretty quickly.

Sometimes... no, make that EVERY time... I get off a three-and-a-half-hour-if-you're-lucky Megabus from Chicago, and I take a nice walk from East Washington to West Washington, to the Springhill by Marriott hotel I'm staying at, only to encounter five Marriotts, along with their preferred restaurant, TGI Fridays, and I have to idea which door to go in (but that's another review goo.gl/X4KAko )... Well, to tell you the truth, I need a stiff drink as soon as I can get one, at a real bar where they "...serve hard drinks for men who want to get drunk fast."* The chill bartender at Loughmiller makes a good Manhattan cocktail (a little pricey for Indy, but a generous pour), and he keeps the water back full too. The cheeseburger was delicious, cooked to a perfect medium, with cheddar and grilled onions. Crinkle fries that were crisp on the crinkles, soft on the inside, and srirachi sauce available to make them shine. Not many folks in on a Wednesday night, but the waitress with the cute, curly blonde "do" was walking miles to the tables where they were lingering, inside and out, on a warm summer's night. If I'm ever back to Indy for a second time, I may just grab one of those street-side tables. I only had one drink, all the better to return to the correct one of the five Marriotts and sleep, perhaps to dream, of Mary Bailey--the one in Bedford Falls. Hubby got a burger which he enjoyed as well. Overall, this place is a great pub/bar & grill. The prices are decent, foods good, service was great, and it is in a good location downtown near the state house.

The first time I went, we walked half the Canal, stopped for a gluttonous lunch then walked the rest of the way around the Canal. Totally negates the calories, right? There's a small patio area, where you can sit and people watch.

classic bar right across from the statehouse that does a great lunch. the sandwiches are terrific and the atmosphere feels old school. not just a great bar, but than you realize loughmiller's history in indiana politics given it location. not quite old ebbitt grill (oldest bar in DC), but still steeped with indiana politics. though the crowd at lunch will be more regular, it's always a crapshoot because the bar sits in between two hotels. lots of visitors. plenty of tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, but there is a bar. it's an old school wood bar top with a classic rail. stools that are padded with back support. the bar back is mainly bottles & buntings with a couple tvs. brass hanging glassware racks make loughmillers feel even older school. easy place to have a good time. owner/manager quick to contact & embrace yelp reviews. wants to make everything great for customer.

The Kwanis international convention brought me to Indianapolis and to this wonderful pub. First on the agenda: Guinness draft! Then my friend Jo introduced me to an Iowa favorite. Yes, I said Iowa! Jo was delighted to find something from home that she settled on it right away. We both had pork tenderloin sandwiches. The pork was breaded and still moist. She suggested we load our sandwiches with all the trimmings for a beef burger so I added red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Now I can't imagine why a pork tenderloin sandwich isn't on all the menus back home in Ohio. The pub is filled with local color and the servers were kind and timely.

Great stop in late afternoon after being an Indy tourist. Because the kids were in tow, we had to sit on the patio, which was nicely shaded with a great view of downtown and the Capitol. Had the Pita and Hummus app - beer cheese and feta spiced hummus were excellent. Side salads were crisp and kids loved the corn dog app. Good craft brews on draught with plenty of Indiana reps. The waitstaff was friendly, food delivery was quick, and taking a beer for the rest of the day's walkabout was great too! Will definitely come back!

Pronounced "Lock-millers", as their menu says. This was just across the street from our hotel on a recent stay so we decided on dinner and drinks here. There was a HUGE group milling about, just inside the door, making it very difficult to get to the tables that actually were open. Our waitress was very nice but, even after the crowd cleared out, service was slow. I had to look for/find her a few times. We ordered the pita chips appetizer, but they were out of the feta dip. They replaced it with salsa but that's not really the same. The beer cheese dip was alright. I got the fish sandwich and the fish was really good. I also enjoyed a Moscow Mule with my dinner. A great summer drink!

I've only ever eaten at Loughmiller's via their delivery service on OrderUp (which I also recommend) and I've enjoyed it! My absolute do-not-miss is the jalapeño cheese bites! I think they are crazy good and their ranch dressing is awesome - which any respectable Hoosier knows to be an imperative staple to a good meal. I've also enjoyed their dip trio with the hummus, feta cheese goodness, and beer cheese!

It was hard to pick between 4 and 5 stars. The food was very good. They had a wide selection of local craft beers to choose from (10-ish). The ambiance was spot on. It was clearly a neighborhood pub, which was perfect for our group. The service was good and the server was fantastic. (more on how that could be different later). The fifth star was decided after realizing that we visited 3 times in a 30 hour period. With all of the other choices close by, for a place to draw the group in that consistently, it must have been pretty good. Loughmiller's is a pub. A sometimes crowded pub. Live music Fri/Sat night. The music Saturday was very good. Loud enough to enjoy, not so loud as to drown out conversation. We had the Fish and Chips special on Friday -- perfect. Burger on Saturday - flavorful, perfectly cooked. Now for the service.... We occasionally waited a short amount on beer refills, but the place was extremely crowded. Not going to attribute that to the server, just the general busy nature of the pub. Now for the server. Always save the best for last, right? She was extremely reluctant to give out her name (it's a secret). How odd. And then, we realized that this was just the beginning of the Hannah show. Hannah is this fantastic, irreverent, fireball of a server (and prep cook it turns out). It started with 3 of us for dinner on Friday. Beers and dinner. She was funny, quick, attentive, and helpful. You couldn't ask for more. It continued with lunch on Saturday - not serving, turns out she was in the kitchen doing prep. It finished on Saturday night for drinks. More irreverence. Always smiling and making sure that everyone enjoys their visit to Loughmiller's Pub. We have been to Indianapolis many times for the Big Ten Basketball tournament and have passed by Loughmiller's probably 100 times. Realizing now what a mistake it was not to have stopped in. Definitely will be back whenever I am in town.

Visited here while in Indy for a cheerleading competition. This place is awesome!! My wife liked it too. Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Didn't eat here but the menu looked awesome. I asked if they had any three floyds - unfortunately they did not but the bartender quickly pointed me to a local beer that was similar - Sun king Osiris. I would definitely visit again and recommend!! This place is great.

Cheese was over baked on too and at the point of burning. Soup was way too salty to be "homemade." Didn't have taste for burger so went with boneless chicken wings off appetizer menu. Horrible decision on my part. They were beyond dry and just had Franks sweet chili sauce on tip of them. Basically microwaved chicken breast nuggets with sauce on top. Well, I've been wanting to come here for years. Finally tried this place on a weekend evening and was pretty disappointed. I liked the atmosphere and our server was wonderful. But, the food was really disappointing. Everything tasted like it was previously frozen, the cheeseburger was so cold that the cheese wasn't even melted and the Reuben was a soggy, greasy mess. Not to mention that all of the prices, food & alcohol, seemed to be marked-up about 30% higher than they should be. I'm not one to ever complain about prices but this place definitely needs to step it up a bit to justify their pricing.

classic bar right across from the statehouse that does a great lunch. the sandwiches are terrific and the atmosphere feels old school. not just a great bar, but than you realize loughmiller's history in indiana politics given it location. not quite old ebbitt grill (oldest bar in DC), but still steeped with indiana politics. though the crowd at lunch will be more regular, it's always a crapshoot because the bar sits in between two hotels. lots of visitors. plenty of tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, but there is a bar. it's an old school wood bar top with a classic rail. stools that are padded with back support. the bar back is mainly bottles & buntings with a couple tvs. brass hanging glassware racks make loughmillers feel even older school. easy place to have a good time. owner/manager quick to contact & embrace yelp reviews. wants to make everything great for customer.

Maybe one day soon we will actually get our food.... We stopped in for lunch while I was in town for a meeting. Luckily I had a long break before the next meeting, because I would have been late (and mad) after waiting 45 minutes for mediocre food. But since I had extra time, I'm glad I stopped in for lunch so that I know not to try this place again. We were only a group of 4, and that place was pretty busy but they looked well staffed. We were promptly seated and our order was taken shortly after. My buffalo chicken wrap (which was recommended by the server over the fish and chips) was BORING. Very little flavor, and I don't think I ever found any buffalo. I'd hate to try the fish & chips.

Been here a half dozen times when I am in town. Great old school tavern with excellent beer selection. Friendly bar tenders. Had the deep fried pretzel with cheese -awesome! The patrons range in age from 20's to 60's; suits to tee shirts. Great place to hang out.

The bartenders and staff are great and everything on the menu is definitely worth trying! There is a great selection of beers as well! Overall a nice atmosphere and always a great place to watch the Colts games, not far from Lucas Oil if you need a pregame drink and meal!

I've been in Indy for a conference the past few days and this place is great if you hate places that are typically by convention centers. I came here several times. It is a laid back, easy bar with good food, good people, and free wifi. Draughts are going to run you 6 bucks but almost all the taps are local brews. The bar staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. Ben is the absolute best and will make you feel right at home. Loughmiller claims to be your neighborhood bar and that is 100% what it feels like even for one-time visitors or out of towners.

I went there today while I was waiting for a meeting. I was in at lunchtime and the staff was great! They greeted me right away and the service was spot on. They are a little pricey though ($7.50 for a garden salad, $6.50 for a small cup of chilli). However, I got it fast and the chilli was very good. It's not normal for me to find a local bar/pub warm and inviting but I did with this one. Next time I'm in Indy..I'll be headed there.

Packed at lunch with the heavy hitters from the statehouse and a nice mix of downtown workers it's hard to get a table in this quaint political pub. The Indiana Cobb salad is great with a slightly sweet dressing and the Nutty Bird is a healthy sandwich delight! The salads are all pretty good and the buffalo chicken fingers are pretty delicious. We always have great service even if the waitstaff is quirky! Beware it is smoking in here which means in Marion County - no kids allowed and the beer selection is mostly macros.

Excellent turkey wrap and yummy fries on an extensive menu. No one else there at 2 o'clock on a Monday afternoon. Friendly staff, good location convenient to parking and sightseeing. Service was a bit slow and I'm glad we didn't have to deal with anyone smoking (how is it still possible that people can be allowed to smoke indoors?!). Better-than-average pub fare.

Wandered in this pub because we were strolling around downtown. I completely forgot the laws are different in Indiana, so walking into a pub that allowed smoking indoors was a complete shock to me. Should have wandered somewhere else, but due to laziness, decided to stay. Ordered a sandwich, I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was dry and salty. Did not like it at all. Waiter did his job and we didn't have a problem with him, but he was uber boring. Overall, I was unimpressed with the atmosphere, service, and food.

If you like great food specials, outdoor patio seating and a chance to hug a politician then this is the place for you. Break the monotony of sports bar after sports bar downtown and hit up this historic establishment. Directly across the street from the Indiana Govt' Center on Washington street, this is the place to be for quality lunch. You can't go wrong with the Asian Chicken Salad and a cold beer on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Went to have a sandwich here in the lunchtime during a weekday. Ended up getting the Corned beef something something sandwich. Too salty for me and I didn't even finish it. The fries, typical nothing to complain or brag about. Maybe its better for a night scene or after hours but I wouldn't know. Try something else when you're in the Indy downtown area.

We wandered in here to get dinner the other night. Perhaps it's a good place to get a drink, but our food was dismal at best. The cook tried to pass off rotten avocado as browned because of the heat, even sending it back to me to eat after I thought it was maybe mushroom. It was disgusting. My re-done sandwich was undercooked, and the rest of the food tasted like overpriced cheap diner food.

The servers here are always fun and irreverant, which I love in my waitstaff. Don't be fake, just be nice and courteous and quick! I've had the cheeseburger and the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and both have been great. The pasta salad has a little too much dressing for my taste, but it's pretty good. Fries are GREAT. I've heard the Indiana Cobb salad is really good too. It's pretty quick for lunch on weekdays which makes it ideal. I usually spend between $12 and $15 including drink and tip.

Packed at lunch with the state capitol crowd, this place has quirky service and a good dinner menu. There's a full bar and a TV usually tuned to CNN or CSPAN. They sometimes send the cook home early if it's a slow night. Although it's mostly pub food, the salads are pretty good (I like the Indiana Cobb with blue cheese instead of feta). Free wi-fi and smoking is allowed.

I like this bar and I appreciate that this place is attempting to be the statehouse bar. However, the prices are outrageous! I went here last night and ordered a cocktail and then a beer. The cocktail was $13.50!!! You can go to a specialty cocktail place in Indy like Ball and Biscuit or Libertine and get a cocktail max for $11 or $10 (Also, their prices are listed in their menu so you are aware of how much you are paying). My craft beer was $6.50!! With tip, I ended up paying $23 for 2 drinks!! Loughmiller's does not seem like a place that would charge this much for a cocktail and a craft beer. My friend has ordered house cab and it was $10. This is more expensive than the house cab at Tastings. Loughmiller's has a nice pub feel, but the prices are not pub-like. You're not paying for the atmosphere. I think this place would get a lot more attention if it wasn't so pricey.

Loughmillers is a real hole in the wall with decent food at semi-reasonable prices. I came with a girlfriend around 5:30p on a Friday and we happened to snag a small table. We had a nice waitress and I ordered the chicken wrap which came with chips and salsa. Real run of the mill - nothing special - but it was good. I had the wrap and 2 Stella's (beer) and my bill was $22. I'd go back but not certain I'll put it on my list of "must stops".

My wife and I visited Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery in Indianapolis, Indiana, during the FDIC conference in April. Dora here. Translation: the tiny restaurant was jammed! I chose the Skillet Burger, served on grilled sourdough bread, smothered in chili, and topped with melted cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, and fries. Like the name implies, this burger was served in a skillet and was intended to be eaten with a fork. The burger was good, the chili great. The only problem I had was the soggy sourdough bread, which was hard to overlook. Dora here. With a 30-minute wait, salivating as I watched plates pass by my nose, I finally ordered the Beer Cheese Burger. I think the kitchen was slightly overwhelmed because when I finally did get my burger another 30 minutes later, the heavy cheese spread clumped on top overpowered the less-than-lukewarm burger. Bummer. Should've chosen the fish sandwich, which seemed to be a favorite as well. I would rate this restaurant 3 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant that serves good food. Went in here after dinner at an average place downtown because it was on the way to the hotel. The girlfriend was with me and she was in a particular mood. I told the bartender I needed his professional help at making her a little happier. Rolled in on a Friday evening. I decided for the southwest chicken salad. Such a good choice! The chicken was warm and had grilled veggies. The salad is huge, so be prepared. Thank God for the smoking ban. This place used to be the smoky bar you see in the movies where politicians and lobbyists make backroom deals (it's the closest bar to the Statehouse). Now you can actually breathe (and see) in there. They have a nice selection of local and regional beers which is a plus in my book. The bartenders are very fast and will chat you up if you desire. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's decent and comes out really quick (they're used to turning around the huge lunch crowd fast).

Sometimes... no, make that EVERY time... I get off a three-and-a-half-hour-if-you're-lucky Megabus from Chicago, and I take a nice walk from East Washington to West Washington, to the Springhill by Marriott hotel I'm staying at, only to encounter five Marriotts, along with their preferred restaurant, TGI Fridays, and I have to idea which door to go in (but that's another review goo.gl/X4KAko )... Well, to tell you the truth, I need a stiff drink as soon as I can get one, at a real bar where they "...serve hard drinks for men who want to get drunk fast."* The chill bartender at Loughmiller makes a good Manhattan cocktail (a little pricey for Indy, but a generous pour), and he keeps the water back full too. The cheeseburger was delicious, cooked to a perfect medium, with cheddar and grilled onions. Crinkle fries that were crisp on the crinkles, soft on the inside, and srirachi sauce available to make them shine. Not many folks in on a Wednesday night, but the waitress with the cute, curly blonde "do" was walking miles to the tables where they were lingering, inside and out, on a warm summer's night. If I'm ever back to Indy for a second time, I may just grab one of those street-side tables. I only had one drink, all the better to return to the correct one of the five Marriotts and sleep, perhaps to dream, of Mary Bailey--the one in Bedford Falls. The Kwanis international convention brought me to Indianapolis and to this wonderful pub. First on the agenda: Guinness draft! Then my friend Jo introduced me to an Iowa favorite. Yes, I said Iowa! Jo was delighted to find something from home that she settled on it right away. We both had pork tenderloin sandwiches. The pork was breaded and still moist. She suggested we load our sandwiches with all the trimmings for a beef burger so I added red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Now I can't imagine why a pork tenderloin sandwich isn't on all the menus back home in Ohio. The pub is filled with local color and the servers were kind and timely.

The standard for weekday dining downtown. It is off the beaten path a bit, so it is great for State of Indiana workers -- it's outside the "convention circle" so there usually is not a wait for a table. The food is standard pub fare and done pretty well. They were accommodating and nice when I asked to have my buffalo chicken grilled instead of the fried patty. Service is prompt and efficient -- again, they know how to do lunch. You can't beat a quick tasty lunch for under $10 in Downtown Indy. I noted in my prior review that it smells like they did not fully clean after they went to non-smoking. I still stand by that statement, but I admit that I am VERY sensitive to the smell and most people likely would not notice it. The restaurant responded to my review. Props to them for reading my review and reaching out. The effort to educate their customers and actually care about their opinions earned them an extra "service" star from me! Here's what they had to say about the smoke smell: "As far as the odor your picking up on, I don't know what to tell you. Since going non smoking we have re painted the walls, had the ceiling cleaned, installed a new beer system which included throwing out the old draft beer coolers and having a state of the art cooler and glycol system put in. We have a cleaning crew come in nightly and I know that all the fixtures are cleaned weekly. The upholstery on the booths were steam cleaned, the wood is oiled weekly and the bunting is taken to the dry cleaner every six months, sooo...Sorry?"

My Marriott contact at the hotel reccommended this hole in the wall pub. After a day of traveling, I just wanted a beer and quick but deleicious food. The restaraunt was literally next to my hotel and I would have never noticed it without her recommendation. It was a hole in the wall but the food was amazing. I had the pesto bird and as a pesto fanatic... I fell in love. It was a chicken sandwhich on a bun with pesto alioi sauce and cheese on a bun. I ate the chicken without the bun and it was amazing.

Great stop in late afternoon after being an Indy tourist. Because the kids were in tow, we had to sit on the patio, which was nicely shaded with a great view of downtown and the Capitol. Had the Pita and Hummus app - beer cheese and feta spiced hummus were excellent. Side salads were crisp and kids loved the corn dog app. Good craft brews on draught with plenty of Indiana reps. The waitstaff was friendly, food delivery was quick, and taking a beer for the rest of the day's walkabout was great too! Will definitely come back!

Pronounced "Lock-millers", as their menu says. This was just across the street from our hotel on a recent stay so we decided on dinner and drinks here. There was a HUGE group milling about, just inside the door, making it very difficult to get to the tables that actually were open. Our waitress was very nice but, even after the crowd cleared out, service was slow. I had to look for/find her a few times. We ordered the pita chips appetizer, but they were out of the feta dip. They replaced it with salsa but that's not really the same. The beer cheese dip was alright. I got the fish sandwich and the fish was really good. I also enjoyed a Moscow Mule with my dinner. A great summer drink!

I've only ever eaten at Loughmiller's via their delivery service on OrderUp (which I also recommend) and I've enjoyed it! My absolute do-not-miss is the jalapeño cheese bites! I think they are crazy good and their ranch dressing is awesome - which any respectable Hoosier knows to be an imperative staple to a good meal. I've also enjoyed their dip trio with the hummus, feta cheese goodness, and beer cheese!

Pretty cool place for a first timer.. I hadn't been here but I'd heard about it from some co-workers. We swung by after an Indians game and had a few drinks and snacks. They have a decent beer selection with some good ones on tap. They also have some food.. we just had some mini corn drops and buffalo chicken tenders.. Both were good.. The corn dogs hit the spot as I hadn't had them in a long time. Tender were good, not super spicy. They have an indoor and outdoor area. The chairs outside aren't very comfortable, but they get the job done. Great view of some of downtown from the outdoor area. Service was good as she kept us filled up and got our food out pretty quickly.

This place was phenomenal! Went here for lunch while at a conference downtown. I wanted to meet a friend someplace local but also didn't want the normal burger and fries or fast food. I decided to get the pesto bird and was blown away by this flavor bomb!! I didn't know what to expect but got so much more! Grilled chicken breast to perfection, topped with Swiss cheese, pesto aioli, avacado, lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato. It was juicy, messy, crunchy and just what I needed to put me in a food coma for the 2nd half of a boring day of convention going. I can't wait for another downtown adventure so I can go again!

I didnt care for the bartender very much. The waitress was extremely nice though. I had a southwest chicken salad and it was decent. I would not recommend it to anyone. My husband had a cheeseburger and it was delicious! Must try a cheeseburger. I had a jalapeno cool margarita. The concept sounded interesting but the taste was too artificial for me. We came on a friday night and they had a live performer who sang nice.

It was hard to pick between 4 and 5 stars. The food was very good. They had a wide selection of local craft beers to choose from (10-ish). The ambiance was spot on. It was clearly a neighborhood pub, which was perfect for our group. The service was good and the server was fantastic. (more on how that could be different later). The fifth star was decided after realizing that we visited 3 times in a 30 hour period. With all of the other choices close by, for a place to draw the group in that consistently, it must have been pretty good. Loughmiller's is a pub. A sometimes crowded pub. Live music Fri/Sat night. The music Saturday was very good. Loud enough to enjoy, not so loud as to drown out conversation. We had the Fish and Chips special on Friday -- perfect. Burger on Saturday - flavorful, perfectly cooked. Now for the service.... We occasionally waited a short amount on beer refills, but the place was extremely crowded. Not going to attribute that to the server, just the general busy nature of the pub. Now for the server. Always save the best for last, right? She was extremely reluctant to give out her name (it's a secret). How odd. And then, we realized that this was just the beginning of the Hannah show. Hannah is this fantastic, irreverent, fireball of a server (and prep cook it turns out). It started with 3 of us for dinner on Friday. Beers and dinner. She was funny, quick, attentive, and helpful. You couldn't ask for more. It continued with lunch on Saturday - not serving, turns out she was in the kitchen doing prep. It finished on Saturday night for drinks. More irreverence. Always smiling and making sure that everyone enjoys their visit to Loughmiller's Pub. We have been to Indianapolis many times for the Big Ten Basketball tournament and have passed by Loughmiller's probably 100 times. Realizing now what a mistake it was not to have stopped in. Definitely will be back whenever I am in town.

Visited here while in Indy for a cheerleading competition. This place is awesome!! My wife liked it too. Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Didn't eat here but the menu looked awesome. I asked if they had any three floyds - unfortunately they did not but the bartender quickly pointed me to a local beer that was similar - Sun king Osiris. I would definitely visit again and recommend!! This place is great.

Cheese was over baked on too and at the point of burning. Soup was way too salty to be "homemade." Didn't have taste for burger so went with boneless chicken wings off appetizer menu. This was my first visit to Loughmiller's (pronounced "lock" - Millers, according to the menu.) The atmosphere is cool and unique in this tiny pub, politics/election themed, which is apt, considering its location, across the street from the South building of the State Government campus. We decided to try it before we headed to Victory Field for a baseball game, and, since I park in the state government lot, it was very close. It only took us about five minutes to walk from the pub to the field. It was not very crowded around 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Our company included a few patrons at the bar next to us and one table of four. The bartender was affable and attentive. Our first round was the special, Triton Sin Bin. It was a very full flavored beer, with a bit of a fruity aftertaste (I'm no craft beer aficionado, please forgive me if my descriptions are vague or lacking! I'm usually the one ordering Bug Light.) It was a little too strong for me, so for the second round, I tried the Terre Haute Brewing Company recipe Champagne Velvet. This was right up my alley. Light, refreshing, delicious! I highly recommend it. My boyfriend enjoyed the Sin Bin, so he stuck with it. I loved the descriptive stories surrounding each beer, helpfully printed on the menu. I liked the one about the CV so much that it actually influenced my decision to try it. I even looked up the history of the THBC later on. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that, except to say the gentleman next to us at the bar ordered the deep fried jalepeno cheese stuffed pretzel appetizer and WOW did it look good. The portion was HUGE. Bring your appetite if you want to order a starter there! (And check the diet at the door, the menu is heavy on the deep fried side of things.) The prices seemed on par for a downtown pub. We spent around $30 for four craft beers including tip. Not cheap, but not out of line with other local spots. I'd recommend Loughmiller's for anyone looking for a low key spot to hang out before the game. The craft beer is as expensive as the domestics at the ball park, so don't expect to pre-game inexpensively.

This is a nice pub with good food, good beer, and good service. There is nothing fancy about this place, but we went for dinner the other night and had a good time. Their selection of local craft beers is decent. I was able to get Fountain Square Brewery and hubby got Flat 12 I believe. Also had good food. I got the breaded fish sandwich, which you could tell was freshly made (had to wait several minutes for it to cool down to eat it), the flavor was great, it was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge! Hubby got a burger which he enjoyed as well. Overall, this place is a great pub/bar & grill. The prices are decent, foods good, service was great, and it is in a good location downtown near the state house.

Loughmiller's is a great place to stop in for a meal while you're near the convention center or White River State Park. The burgers I've had are tasty and the beer selection is pretty good. The first time I went, we walked half the Canal, stopped for a gluttonous lunch then walked the rest of the way around the Canal. Totally negates the calories, right? There's a small patio area, where you can sit and people watch.

Very chill place. Wasn't too busy a little after the lunch hour, which was great! Took a little while for our orders to be taken but food was good and the sparkling lemonade was a perfect and refreshing complement to the burger.

We stopped here for a late lunch and everything was average or less so. Cheeseburgers were somewhat flavorful but thin. The pork tenderloin sandwich had almost no flavor and the side salad greens were iceberg lettuce with cucumbers and tomato. The beer list was fine but nothing extensive for a pub. Luckily the service was friendly and the prices pretty cheap. I'd much rather spend a couple of bucks more for a better kitchen.

Yes, today was busy, however, my colleagues and I joined others for lunch today and placed 3 orders, all cold food, within 5 minutes of joining our table. After an hour we still did not have food but 3 different people told us our tickets had been placed. Then we learned that our tickets still were not in production. People all around us placed orders after ours, their food was delivered, they ate, and left. I am mostly disturbed that no one was honest with us. I will not be giving them another chance.

classic bar right across from the statehouse that does a great lunch. the sandwiches are terrific and the atmosphere feels old school. not just a great bar, but than you realize loughmiller's history in indiana politics given it location. not quite old ebbitt grill (oldest bar in DC), but still steeped with indiana politics. though the crowd at lunch will be more regular, it's always a crapshoot because the bar sits in between two hotels. lots of visitors. plenty of tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, but there is a bar. it's an old school wood bar top with a classic rail. stools that are padded with back support. the bar back is mainly bottles & buntings with a couple tvs. brass hanging glassware racks make loughmillers feel even older school. easy place to have a good time. owner/manager quick to contact & embrace yelp reviews. wants to make everything great for customer.

Ok food, great service, very very very very loud. I had a good Rueben and the fries good, but my wife had a pork tenderloin, and having grown up in Indianapolis, she said she was very disappointed in the fact that it was tasteless. They probably don't care, but we won't be going back.

The bartenders and staff are great and everything on the menu is definitely worth trying! There is a great selection of beers as well! Overall a nice atmosphere and always a great place to watch the Colts games, not far from Lucas Oil if you need a pregame drink and meal!

Packed at lunch with the heavy hitters from the statehouse and a nice mix of downtown workers it's hard to get a table in this quaint political pub. The Indiana Cobb salad is great with a slightly sweet dressing and the Nutty Bird is a healthy sandwich delight! The salads are all pretty good and the buffalo chicken fingers are pretty delicious. We always have great service even if the waitstaff is quirky! Beware it is smoking in here which means in Marion County - no kids allowed and the beer selection is mostly macros.

Wandered in this pub because we were strolling around downtown. I completely forgot the laws are different in Indiana, so walking into a pub that allowed smoking indoors was a complete shock to me. Should have wandered somewhere else, but due to laziness, decided to stay. Ordered a sandwich, I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was dry and salty. Did not like it at all. Waiter did his job and we didn't have a problem with him, but he was uber boring. Overall, I was unimpressed with the atmosphere, service, and food.

If you like great food specials, outdoor patio seating and a chance to hug a politician then this is the place for you. Break the monotony of sports bar after sports bar downtown and hit up this historic establishment. Directly across the street from the Indiana Govt' Center on Washington street, this is the place to be for quality lunch. You can't go wrong with the Asian Chicken Salad and a cold beer on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

The servers here are always fun and irreverant, which I love in my waitstaff. Don't be fake, just be nice and courteous and quick! I've had the cheeseburger and the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and both have been great. The pasta salad has a little too much dressing for my taste, but it's pretty good. Fries are GREAT. I've heard the Indiana Cobb salad is really good too. It's pretty quick for lunch on weekdays which makes it ideal. I usually spend between $12 and $15 including drink and tip.

Packed at lunch with the state capitol crowd, this place has quirky service and a good dinner menu. There's a full bar and a TV usually tuned to CNN or CSPAN. They sometimes send the cook home early if it's a slow night. Although it's mostly pub food, the salads are pretty good (I like the Indiana Cobb with blue cheese instead of feta). Free wi-fi and smoking is allowed.

Thank God for the smoking ban. This place used to be the smoky bar you see in the movies where politicians and lobbyists make backroom deals (it's the closest bar to the Statehouse). Now you can actually breathe (and see) in there. They have a nice selection of local and regional beers which is a plus in my book. The bartenders are very fast and will chat you up if you desire. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's decent and comes out really quick (they're used to turning around the huge lunch crowd fast).

It was hard to pick between 4 and 5 stars. The food was very good. They had a wide selection of local craft beers to choose from (10-ish). The ambiance was spot on. It was clearly a neighborhood pub, which was perfect for our group. The service was good and the server was fantastic. (more on how that could be different later). The fifth star was decided after realizing that we visited 3 times in a 30 hour period. With all of the other choices close by, for a place to draw the group in that consistently, it must have been pretty good. Loughmiller's is a pub. A sometimes crowded pub. Live music Fri/Sat night. The music Saturday was very good. Loud enough to enjoy, not so loud as to drown out conversation. We had the Fish and Chips special on Friday -- perfect. Burger on Saturday - flavorful, perfectly cooked. Now for the service.... We occasionally waited a short amount on beer refills, but the place was extremely crowded. Not going to attribute that to the server, just the general busy nature of the pub. Now for the server. Always save the best for last, right? She was extremely reluctant to give out her name (it's a secret). How odd. And then, we realized that this was just the beginning of the Hannah show. Hannah is this fantastic, irreverent, fireball of a server (and prep cook it turns out). It started with 3 of us for dinner on Friday. Beers and dinner. She was funny, quick, attentive, and helpful. You couldn't ask for more. It continued with lunch on Saturday - not serving, turns out she was in the kitchen doing prep. It finished on Saturday night for drinks. More irreverence. Always smiling and making sure that everyone enjoys their visit to Loughmiller's Pub. We have been to Indianapolis many times for the Big Ten Basketball tournament and have passed by Loughmiller's probably 100 times. Realizing now what a mistake it was not to have stopped in. Definitely will be back whenever I am in town.

Visited here while in Indy for a cheerleading competition. This place is awesome!! My wife liked it too. Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Didn't eat here but the menu looked awesome. I asked if they had any three floyds - unfortunately they did not but the bartender quickly pointed me to a local beer that was similar - Sun king Osiris. I would definitely visit again and recommend!! This place is great.

This place was phenomenal! Went here for lunch while at a conference downtown. I wanted to meet a friend someplace local but also didn't want the normal burger and fries or fast food. I decided to get the pesto bird and was blown away by this flavor bomb!! I didn't know what to expect but got so much more! Grilled chicken breast to perfection, topped with Swiss cheese, pesto aioli, avacado, lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato. It was juicy, messy, crunchy and just what I needed to put me in a food coma for the 2nd half of a boring day of convention going. I can't wait for another downtown adventure so I can go again!

Rolled in on a Friday evening. I decided for the southwest chicken salad. Such a good choice! The chicken was warm and had grilled veggies. The salad is huge, so be prepared. My server was very attentive, but not in a pestering way. The music they had going was amazing! For parents...this is a 21 and up establishment. Nutshell: Good pub grub for a pretty typical price. Definitely recommend the stop.

The standard for weekday dining downtown. It is off the beaten path a bit, so it is great for State of Indiana workers -- it's outside the "convention circle" so there usually is not a wait for a table. The food is standard pub fare and done pretty well. They were accommodating and nice when I asked to have my buffalo chicken grilled instead of the fried patty. Service is prompt and efficient -- again, they know how to do lunch. You can't beat a quick tasty lunch for under $10 in Downtown Indy. I noted in my prior review that it smells like they did not fully clean after they went to non-smoking. I still stand by that statement, but I admit that I am VERY sensitive to the smell and most people likely would not notice it. The restaurant responded to my review. Props to them for reading my review and reaching out. The effort to educate their customers and actually care about their opinions earned them an extra "service" star from me! Here's what they had to say about the smoke smell: "As far as the odor your picking up on, I don't know what to tell you. Since going non smoking we have re painted the walls, had the ceiling cleaned, installed a new beer system which included throwing out the old draft beer coolers and having a state of the art cooler and glycol system put in. We have a cleaning crew come in nightly and I know that all the fixtures are cleaned weekly. The upholstery on the booths were steam cleaned, the wood is oiled weekly and the bunting is taken to the dry cleaner every six months, sooo...Sorry?"

I like this bar and I appreciate that this place is attempting to be the statehouse bar. However, the prices are outrageous! I went here last night and ordered a cocktail and then a beer. The cocktail was $13.50!!! You can go to a specialty cocktail place in Indy like Ball and Biscuit or Libertine and get a cocktail max for $11 or $10 (Also, their prices are listed in their menu so you are aware of how much you are paying). My craft beer was $6.50!! With tip, I ended up paying $23 for 2 drinks!! Loughmiller's does not seem like a place that would charge this much for a cocktail and a craft beer. My friend has ordered house cab and it was $10. This is more expensive than the house cab at Tastings. Loughmiller's has a nice pub feel, but the prices are not pub-like. You're not paying for the atmosphere. I think this place would get a lot more attention if it wasn't so pricey.

Loughmillers is a real hole in the wall with decent food at semi-reasonable prices. I came with a girlfriend around 5:30p on a Friday and we happened to snag a small table. We had a nice waitress and I ordered the chicken wrap which came with chips and salsa. Real run of the mill - nothing special - but it was good. I had the wrap and 2 Stella's (beer) and my bill was $22. I'd go back but not certain I'll put it on my list of "must stops".

I chose the Skillet Burger, served on grilled sourdough bread, smothered in chili, and topped with melted cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, and fries. Like the name implies, this burger was served in a skillet and was intended to be eaten with a fork. The burger was good, the chili great. The only problem I had was the soggy sourdough bread, which was hard to overlook. Dora here. With a 30-minute wait, salivating as I watched plates pass by my nose, I finally ordered the Beer Cheese Burger. I think the kitchen was slightly overwhelmed because when I finally did get my burger another 30 minutes later, the heavy cheese spread clumped on top overpowered the less-than-lukewarm burger. Bummer. Should've chosen the fish sandwich, which seemed to be a favorite as well. I would rate this restaurant 3 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant that serves good food. Went in here after dinner at an average place downtown because it was on the way to the hotel. The girlfriend was with me and she was in a particular mood. I told the bartender I needed his professional help at making her a little happier. My Marriott contact at the hotel reccommended this hole in the wall pub. After a day of traveling, I just wanted a beer and quick but deleicious food. The restaraunt was literally next to my hotel and I would have never noticed it without her recommendation. It was a hole in the wall but the food was amazing. I had the pesto bird and as a pesto fanatic... I fell in love. It was a chicken sandwhich on a bun with pesto alioi sauce and cheese on a bun. I ate the chicken without the bun and it was amazing.

Sometimes... no, make that EVERY time... I get off a three-and-a-half-hour-if-you're-lucky Megabus from Chicago, and I take a nice walk from East Washington to West Washington, to the Springhill by Marriott hotel I'm staying at, only to encounter five Marriotts, along with their preferred restaurant, TGI Fridays, and I have to idea which door to go in (but that's another review goo.gl/X4KAko )... Well, to tell you the truth, I need a stiff drink as soon as I can get one, at a real bar where they "...serve hard drinks for men who want to get drunk fast."* The chill bartender at Loughmiller makes a good Manhattan cocktail (a little pricey for Indy, but a generous pour), and he keeps the water back full too. The cheeseburger was delicious, cooked to a perfect medium, with cheddar and grilled onions. Crinkle fries that were crisp on the crinkles, soft on the inside, and srirachi sauce available to make them shine. Not many folks in on a Wednesday night, but the waitress with the cute, curly blonde "do" was walking miles to the tables where they were lingering, inside and out, on a warm summer's night. If I'm ever back to Indy for a second time, I may just grab one of those street-side tables. I only had one drink, all the better to return to the correct one of the five Marriotts and sleep, perhaps to dream, of Mary Bailey--the one in Bedford Falls. The Kwanis international convention brought me to Indianapolis and to this wonderful pub. First on the agenda: Guinness draft! Then my friend Jo introduced me to an Iowa favorite. Yes, I said Iowa! Jo was delighted to find something from home that she settled on it right away. We both had pork tenderloin sandwiches. The pork was breaded and still moist. She suggested we load our sandwiches with all the trimmings for a beef burger so I added red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Now I can't imagine why a pork tenderloin sandwich isn't on all the menus back home in Ohio. The pub is filled with local color and the servers were kind and timely.

Great stop in late afternoon after being an Indy tourist. Because the kids were in tow, we had to sit on the patio, which was nicely shaded with a great view of downtown and the Capitol. Had the Pita and Hummus app - beer cheese and feta spiced hummus were excellent. Side salads were crisp and kids loved the corn dog app. Good craft brews on draught with plenty of Indiana reps. The waitstaff was friendly, food delivery was quick, and taking a beer for the rest of the day's walkabout was great too! Will definitely come back!

There was a HUGE group milling about, just inside the door, making it very difficult to get to the tables that actually were open. Our waitress was very nice but, even after the crowd cleared out, service was slow. I had to look for/find her a few times. We ordered the pita chips appetizer, but they were out of the feta dip. They replaced it with salsa but that's not really the same. The beer cheese dip was alright. I got the fish sandwich and the fish was really good. I also enjoyed a Moscow Mule with my dinner. A great summer drink!

I've only ever eaten at Loughmiller's via their delivery service on OrderUp (which I also recommend) and I've enjoyed it! My absolute do-not-miss is the jalapeño cheese bites! I think they are crazy good and their ranch dressing is awesome - which any respectable Hoosier knows to be an imperative staple to a good meal. I've also enjoyed their dip trio with the hummus, feta cheese goodness, and beer cheese!

Pretty cool place for a first timer.. I hadn't been here but I'd heard about it from some co-workers. We swung by after an Indians game and had a few drinks and snacks. They have a decent beer selection with some good ones on tap. They also have some food.. we just had some mini corn drops and buffalo chicken tenders.. Both were good.. The corn dogs hit the spot as I hadn't had them in a long time. Tender were good, not super spicy. They have an indoor and outdoor area. The chairs outside aren't very comfortable, but they get the job done. Great view of some of downtown from the outdoor area. Service was good as she kept us filled up and got our food out pretty quickly.

This place was phenomenal! Went here for lunch while at a conference downtown. I wanted to meet a friend someplace local but also didn't want the normal burger and fries or fast food. I decided to get the pesto bird and was blown away by this flavor bomb!! I didn't know what to expect but got so much more! Grilled chicken breast to perfection, topped with Swiss cheese, pesto aioli, avacado, lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato. It was juicy, messy, crunchy and just what I needed to put me in a food coma for the 2nd half of a boring day of convention going. I can't wait for another downtown adventure so I can go again!

Rolled in on a Friday evening. I decided for the southwest chicken salad. Such a good choice! The chicken was warm and had grilled veggies. The salad is huge, so be prepared. My server was very attentive, but not in a pestering way. The music they had going was amazing! For parents...this is a 21 and up establishment. Nutshell: Good pub grub for a pretty typical price. Definitely recommend the stop.

Thank God for the smoking ban. This place used to be the smoky bar you see in the movies where politicians and lobbyists make backroom deals (it's the closest bar to the Statehouse). Now you can actually breathe (and see) in there. They have a nice selection of local and regional beers which is a plus in my book. The bartenders are very fast and will chat you up if you desire. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's decent and comes out really quick (they're used to turning around the huge lunch crowd fast).

The standard for weekday dining downtown. It is off the beaten path a bit, so it is great for State of Indiana workers -- it's outside the "convention circle" so there usually is not a wait for a table. The food is standard pub fare and done pretty well. They were accommodating and nice when I asked to have my buffalo chicken grilled instead of the fried patty. Service is prompt and efficient -- again, they know how to do lunch. You can't beat a quick tasty lunch for under $10 in Downtown Indy. I noted in my prior review that it smells like they did not fully clean after they went to non-smoking. I still stand by that statement, but I admit that I am VERY sensitive to the smell and most people likely would not notice it. The restaurant responded to my review. Props to them for reading my review and reaching out. The effort to educate their customers and actually care about their opinions earned them an extra "service" star from me! Here's what they had to say about the smoke smell: "As far as the odor your picking up on, I don't know what to tell you. Since going non smoking we have re painted the walls, had the ceiling cleaned, installed a new beer system which included throwing out the old draft beer coolers and having a state of the art cooler and glycol system put in. We have a cleaning crew come in nightly and I know that all the fixtures are cleaned weekly. The upholstery on the booths were steam cleaned, the wood is oiled weekly and the bunting is taken to the dry cleaner every six months, sooo...Sorry?"

I like this bar and I appreciate that this place is attempting to be the statehouse bar. However, the prices are outrageous! I went here last night and ordered a cocktail and then a beer. The cocktail was $13.50!!! You can go to a specialty cocktail place in Indy like Ball and Biscuit or Libertine and get a cocktail max for $11 or $10 (Also, their prices are listed in their menu so you are aware of how much you are paying). My craft beer was $6.50!! With tip, I ended up paying $23 for 2 drinks!! Loughmiller's does not seem like a place that would charge this much for a cocktail and a craft beer. My friend has ordered house cab and it was $10. This is more expensive than the house cab at Tastings. Loughmiller's has a nice pub feel, but the prices are not pub-like. You're not paying for the atmosphere. I think this place would get a lot more attention if it wasn't so pricey.

Loughmillers is a real hole in the wall with decent food at semi-reasonable prices. I came with a girlfriend around 5:30p on a Friday and we happened to snag a small table. We had a nice waitress and I ordered the chicken wrap which came with chips and salsa. Real run of the mill - nothing special - but it was good. I had the wrap and 2 Stella's (beer) and my bill was $22. I'd go back but not certain I'll put it on my list of "must stops".

We stopped here for a late lunch and everything was average or less so. Cheeseburgers were somewhat flavorful but thin. The pork tenderloin sandwich had almost no flavor and the side salad greens were iceberg lettuce with cucumbers and tomato. The beer list was fine but nothing extensive for a pub. Luckily the service was friendly and the prices pretty cheap. I'd much rather spend a couple of bucks more for a better kitchen.

Yes, today was busy, however, my colleagues and I joined others for lunch today and placed 3 orders, all cold food, within 5 minutes of joining our table. After an hour we still did not have food but 3 different people told us our tickets had been placed. Then we learned that our tickets still were not in production. This was my first visit to Loughmiller's (pronounced "lock" - Millers, according to the menu.) The atmosphere is cool and unique in this tiny pub, politics/election themed, which is apt, considering its location, across the street from the South building of the State Government campus. We decided to try it before we headed to Victory Field for a baseball game, and, since I park in the state government lot, it was very close. It only took us about five minutes to walk from the pub to the field. It was not very crowded around 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Our company included a few patrons at the bar next to us and one table of four. The bartender was affable and attentive. Our first round was the special, Triton Sin Bin. It was a very full flavored beer, with a bit of a fruity aftertaste (I'm no craft beer aficionado, please forgive me if my descriptions are vague or lacking! I'm usually the one ordering Bug Light.) It was a little too strong for me, so for the second round, I tried the Terre Haute Brewing Company recipe Champagne Velvet. This was right up my alley. Light, refreshing, delicious! I highly recommend it. My boyfriend enjoyed the Sin Bin, so he stuck with it. I loved the descriptive stories surrounding each beer, helpfully printed on the menu. I liked the one about the CV so much that it actually influenced my decision to try it. I even looked up the history of the THBC later on. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that, except to say the gentleman next to us at the bar ordered the deep fried jalepeno cheese stuffed pretzel appetizer and WOW did it look good. The portion was HUGE. Bring your appetite if you want to order a starter there! (And check the diet at the door, the menu is heavy on the deep fried side of things.) The prices seemed on par for a downtown pub. We spent around $30 for four craft beers including tip. Not cheap, but not out of line with other local spots. I'd recommend Loughmiller's for anyone looking for a low key spot to hang out before the game. The craft beer is as expensive as the domestics at the ball park, so don't expect to pre-game inexpensively.

I like it. Generates an air of politics. Decent prices. Cool bartender. I had one of the best grilled cheese (w/ bacon and tomato) sandwiches I have ever had. Fries are good too. Great downtown location. Walking distance to the State House, and to Colts Stadium.

This is a nice pub with good food, good beer, and good service. There is nothing fancy about this place, but we went for dinner the other night and had a good time. Their selection of local craft beers is decent. I was able to get Fountain Square Brewery and hubby got Flat 12 I believe. Also had good food. I got the breaded fish sandwich, which you could tell was freshly made (had to wait several minutes for it to cool down to eat it), the flavor was great, it was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge! Hubby got a burger which he enjoyed as well. Overall, this place is a great pub/bar & grill. The prices are decent, foods good, service was great, and it is in a good location downtown near the state house.

Loughmiller's is a great place to stop in for a meal while you're near the convention center or White River State Park. The burgers I've had are tasty and the beer selection is pretty good. The first time I went, we walked half the Canal, stopped for a gluttonous lunch then walked the rest of the way around the Canal. Totally negates the calories, right? There's a small patio area, where you can sit and people watch.

classic bar right across from the statehouse that does a great lunch. the sandwiches are terrific and the atmosphere feels old school. not just a great bar, but than you realize loughmiller's history in indiana politics given it location. not quite old ebbitt grill (oldest bar in DC), but still steeped with indiana politics. though the crowd at lunch will be more regular, it's always a crapshoot because the bar sits in between two hotels. lots of visitors. plenty of tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, but there is a bar. it's an old school wood bar top with a classic rail. stools that are padded with back support. the bar back is mainly bottles & buntings with a couple tvs. brass hanging glassware racks make loughmillers feel even older school. easy place to have a good time. owner/manager quick to contact & embrace yelp reviews. wants to make everything great for customer.

It was hard to pick between 4 and 5 stars. The food was very good. They had a wide selection of local craft beers to choose from (10-ish). The ambiance was spot on. It was clearly a neighborhood pub, which was perfect for our group. The service was good and the server was fantastic. (more on how that could be different later). The fifth star was decided after realizing that we visited 3 times in a 30 hour period. With all of the other choices close by, for a place to draw the group in that consistently, it must have been pretty good. Loughmiller's is a pub. A sometimes crowded pub. Live music Fri/Sat night. The music Saturday was very good. Loud enough to enjoy, not so loud as to drown out conversation. We had the Fish and Chips special on Friday -- perfect. Burger on Saturday - flavorful, perfectly cooked. Now for the service.... We occasionally waited a short amount on beer refills, but the place was extremely crowded. Not going to attribute that to the server, just the general busy nature of the pub. Now for the server. Always save the best for last, right? She was extremely reluctant to give out her name (it's a secret). How odd. And then, we realized that this was just the beginning of the Hannah show. Hannah is this fantastic, irreverent, fireball of a server (and prep cook it turns out). It started with 3 of us for dinner on Friday. Beers and dinner. She was funny, quick, attentive, and helpful. You couldn't ask for more. It continued with lunch on Saturday - not serving, turns out she was in the kitchen doing prep. It finished on Saturday night for drinks. More irreverence. Always smiling and making sure that everyone enjoys their visit to Loughmiller's Pub. We have been to Indianapolis many times for the Big Ten Basketball tournament and have passed by Loughmiller's probably 100 times. Realizing now what a mistake it was not to have stopped in. Definitely will be back whenever I am in town.

Visited here while in Indy for a cheerleading competition. This place is awesome!! My wife liked it too. Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Didn't eat here but the menu looked awesome. I asked if they had any three floyds - unfortunately they did not but the bartender quickly pointed me to a local beer that was similar - Sun king Osiris. I would definitely visit again and recommend!! This place is great.

Beer selection was good. Beer I had was good. Service was very slow even though they were not busy at all. Ordered French onion soup to start. Cheese was over baked on too and at the point of burning. Soup was way too salty to be "homemade." Didn't have taste for burger so went with boneless chicken wings off appetizer menu. Horrible decision on my part. They were beyond dry and just had Franks sweet chili sauce on tip of them. Basically microwaved chicken breast nuggets with sauce on top. Probably would have been better if I ordered better S others food looked good and guy next to me Really enjoyed the chili.

Yes, today was busy, however, my colleagues and I joined others for lunch today and placed 3 orders, all cold food, within 5 minutes of joining our table. After an hour we still did not have food but 3 different people told us our tickets had been placed. Then we learned that our tickets still were not in production. People all around us placed orders after ours, their food was delivered, they ate, and left. I am mostly disturbed that no one was honest with us. I will not be giving them another chance.

Wandered over and found this place so I decided to have a celebratory beer. The bartender was pretty nice for the most part, pretty much just kept to himself. The beer selection is quite great. I enjoyed the Indiana amber.

Ok food, great service, very very very very loud. I had a good Rueben and the fries good, but my wife had a pork tenderloin, and having grown up in Indianapolis, she said she was very disappointed in the fact that it was tasteless. They probably don't care, but we won't be going back.

Good regional beer selection and the owner is funny. Haven't tried the food, but in the wasteland that is this part of downtown Indianapolis this is probably the best place for a beer.

I like it. Generates an air of politics. Decent prices. Cool bartender. I had one of the best grilled cheese (w/ bacon and tomato) sandwiches I have ever had. Fries are good too. Great downtown location. Walking distance to the State House, and to Colts Stadium.

Well, I've been wanting to come here for years. Finally tried this place on a weekend evening and was pretty disappointed. I liked the atmosphere and our server was wonderful. But, the food was really disappointing. Everything tasted like it was previously frozen, the cheeseburger was so cold that the cheese wasn't even melted and the Reuben was a soggy, greasy mess. Not to mention that all of the prices, food & alcohol, seemed to be marked-up about 30% higher than they should be. I'm not one to ever complain about prices but this place definitely needs to step it up a bit to justify their pricing.

Went there for dinner and we were thoroughly unimpressed. Limited menu, average food. Potato salad I had probably came straight out of a GFS container. There were very few people there but the service was inattentive. Must be a great bar because it's barely adequate as a restaurant. We won't be going back.

This was my first visit to Loughmiller's (pronounced "lock" - Millers, according to the menu.) The atmosphere is cool and unique in this tiny pub, politics/election themed, which is apt, considering its location, across the street from the South building of the State Government campus. We decided to try it before we headed to Victory Field for a baseball game, and, since I park in the state government lot, it was very close. It only took us about five minutes to walk from the pub to the field. It was not very crowded around 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Our company included a few patrons at the bar next to us and one table of four. The bartender was affable and attentive. Our first round was the special, Triton Sin Bin. It was a very full flavored beer, with a bit of a fruity aftertaste (I'm no craft beer aficionado, please forgive me if my descriptions are vague or lacking! I'm usually the one ordering Bug Light.) It was a little too strong for me, so for the second round, I tried the Terre Haute Brewing Company recipe Champagne Velvet. This was right up my alley. Light, refreshing, delicious! I highly recommend it. My boyfriend enjoyed the Sin Bin, so he stuck with it. I loved the descriptive stories surrounding each beer, helpfully printed on the menu. I liked the one about the CV so much that it actually influenced my decision to try it. I even looked up the history of the THBC later on. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that, except to say the gentleman next to us at the bar ordered the deep fried jalepeno cheese stuffed pretzel appetizer and WOW did it look good. The portion was HUGE. Bring your appetite if you want to order a starter there! (And check the diet at the door, the menu is heavy on the deep fried side of things.) The prices seemed on par for a downtown pub. We spent around $30 for four craft beers including tip. Not cheap, but not out of line with other local spots. I'd recommend Loughmiller's for anyone looking for a low key spot to hang out before the game. The craft beer is as expensive as the domestics at the ball park, so don't expect to pre-game inexpensively.

This is a nice pub with good food, good beer, and good service. There is nothing fancy about this place, but we went for dinner the other night and had a good time. Their selection of local craft beers is decent. I was able to get Fountain Square Brewery and hubby got Flat 12 I believe. Also had good food. I got the breaded fish sandwich, which you could tell was freshly made (had to wait several minutes for it to cool down to eat it), the flavor was great, it was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge! Hubby got a burger which he enjoyed as well. Overall, this place is a great pub/bar & grill. The prices are decent, foods good, service was great, and it is in a good location downtown near the state house.

Loughmiller's is a great place to stop in for a meal while you're near the convention center or White River State Park. The burgers I've had are tasty and the beer selection is pretty good. The first time I went, we walked half the Canal, stopped for a gluttonous lunch then walked the rest of the way around the Canal. Totally negates the calories, right? There's a small patio area, where you can sit and people watch.

classic bar right across from the statehouse that does a great lunch. the sandwiches are terrific and the atmosphere feels old school. not just a great bar, but than you realize loughmiller's history in indiana politics given it location. not quite old ebbitt grill (oldest bar in DC), but still steeped with indiana politics. though the crowd at lunch will be more regular, it's always a crapshoot because the bar sits in between two hotels. lots of visitors. plenty of tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, but there is a bar. it's an old school wood bar top with a classic rail. stools that are padded with back support. the bar back is mainly bottles & buntings with a couple tvs. brass hanging glassware racks make loughmillers feel even older school. easy place to have a good time. owner/manager quick to contact & embrace yelp reviews. wants to make everything great for customer.

Maybe one day soon we will actually get our food.... We stopped in for lunch while I was in town for a meeting. Luckily I had a long break before the next meeting, because I would have been late (and mad) after waiting 45 minutes for mediocre food. But since I had extra time, I'm glad I stopped in for lunch so that I know not to try this place again. We were only a group of 4, and that place was pretty busy but they looked well staffed. We were promptly seated and our order was taken shortly after. My buffalo chicken wrap (which was recommended by the server over the fish and chips) was BORING. Very little flavor, and I don't think I ever found any buffalo. I'd hate to try the fish & chips.

Been here a half dozen times when I am in town. Great old school tavern with excellent beer selection. Friendly bar tenders. Had the deep fried pretzel with cheese -awesome! The patrons range in age from 20's to 60's; suits to tee shirts. Great place to hang out.

The bartenders and staff are great and everything on the menu is definitely worth trying! There is a great selection of beers as well! Overall a nice atmosphere and always a great place to watch the Colts games, not far from Lucas Oil if you need a pregame drink and meal!

I've been in Indy for a conference the past few days and this place is great if you hate places that are typically by convention centers. I came here several times. It is a laid back, easy bar with good food, good people, and free wifi. Draughts are going to run you 6 bucks but almost all the taps are local brews. The bar staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. Ben is the absolute best and will make you feel right at home. Loughmiller claims to be your neighborhood bar and that is 100% what it feels like even for one-time visitors or out of towners.

I went there today while I was waiting for a meeting. I was in at lunchtime and the staff was great! They greeted me right away and the service was spot on. They are a little pricey though ($7.50 for a garden salad, $6.50 for a small cup of chilli). However, I got it fast and the chilli was very good. It's not normal for me to find a local bar/pub warm and inviting but I did with this one. Next time I'm in Indy..I'll be headed there.

Packed at lunch with the heavy hitters from the statehouse and a nice mix of downtown workers it's hard to get a table in this quaint political pub. The Indiana Cobb salad is great with a slightly sweet dressing and the Nutty Bird is a healthy sandwich delight! The salads are all pretty good and the buffalo chicken fingers are pretty delicious. We always have great service even if the waitstaff is quirky! Beware it is smoking in here which means in Marion County - no kids allowed and the beer selection is mostly macros.

Excellent turkey wrap and yummy fries on an extensive menu. No one else there at 2 o'clock on a Monday afternoon. Friendly staff, good location convenient to parking and sightseeing. Service was a bit slow and I'm glad we didn't have to deal with anyone smoking (how is it still possible that people can be allowed to smoke indoors?!). Better-than-average pub fare.

Wandered in this pub because we were strolling around downtown. I completely forgot the laws are different in Indiana, so walking into a pub that allowed smoking indoors was a complete shock to me. Should have wandered somewhere else, but due to laziness, decided to stay. Ordered a sandwich, I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was dry and salty. Did not like it at all. Waiter did his job and we didn't have a problem with him, but he was uber boring. Overall, I was unimpressed with the atmosphere, service, and food.

If you like great food specials, outdoor patio seating and a chance to hug a politician then this is the place for you. Break the monotony of sports bar after sports bar downtown and hit up this historic establishment. Directly across the street from the Indiana Govt' Center on Washington street, this is the place to be for quality lunch. You can't go wrong with the Asian Chicken Salad and a cold beer on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Went to have a sandwich here in the lunchtime during a weekday. Ended up getting the Corned beef something something sandwich. Too salty for me and I didn't even finish it. The fries, typical nothing to complain or brag about. Maybe its better for a night scene or after hours but I wouldn't know. Try something else when you're in the Indy downtown area.

We wandered in here to get dinner the other night. Perhaps it's a good place to get a drink, but our food was dismal at best. The cook tried to pass off rotten avocado as browned because of the heat, even sending it back to me to eat after I thought it was maybe mushroom. It was disgusting. My re-done sandwich was undercooked, and the rest of the food tasted like overpriced cheap diner food.

The servers here are always fun and irreverant, which I love in my waitstaff. Don't be fake, just be nice and courteous and quick! I've had the cheeseburger and the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and both have been great. The pasta salad has a little too much dressing for my taste, but it's pretty good. Fries are GREAT. I've heard the Indiana Cobb salad is really good too. It's pretty quick for lunch on weekdays which makes it ideal. I usually spend between $12 and $15 including drink and tip.

I don't know why the so so reviews. Great bar food, strong drinks, smoking after 3. If you drink and smoke and eat this is a great spot ! I spend 200+ days on the road a year and I always hit this joint when in Indy.

Packed at lunch with the state capitol crowd, this place has quirky service and a good dinner menu. There's a full bar and a TV usually tuned to CNN or CSPAN. They sometimes send the cook home early if it's a slow night. Although it's mostly pub food, the salads are pretty good (I like the Indiana Cobb with blue cheese instead of feta). Free wi-fi and smoking is allowed.
