The line gets longer everything we go... We were on our way to Holiday World and of course we needed breakfast at 7:00 am. And Long's is not far off 65. The line was wrapped around the small bakery. But so worth the wait. My fiance and his friend are all about the yeast. They sell so many they don't even put them in a display case. They have racks of them in the back. Make sure to bring cash with you. I think I heard they now take cards but they use to be cash only. So just be prepared.

Returned after having been away for some time. Maybe it was the day and time I went, early afternoon on a Wednesday vs. a Saturday AM, but the selection was much more limited. The good news was I walked in and placed my order, no waiting! The donuts were good but the selection was more sugary than previous visits and there where very few Danishes! Good, but they have been better. Maybe I need to go again on a Sunday or Saturday morning and deal with the crowds for a better, fresher selection. Always remember, cash only, but with their prices this should not be a problem.

Is there a better way to start the weekend than Long's donuts for everyone! A lot of people think that , which is why the lines to get anything from a basic but beautifully done sugar glazed donut for 50 cents to decadent stuff like Bavaria cream filled donuts or coconut cream pies are so long! Thankfully your wait is much shorter than the line indicates and so is the price for a box of this stuff! What's really hard is how to not let your eyes control how much your stomach will eat. A truly unique Indianapolis institution!

Applesauce cake and maple glazed yeast donuts for lunch? Uh, yeah, that was me...and I am not sorry. After spending 20 minutes trying to escape Greenwood Park Mall's parking lot (traffic is godawful!), I decided I deserved a treat for maintaining my sanity. So, off to Long's I went! As a first timer, I learned some helpful hints - 1. The parking lot will probably be full. Even at 4pm on a Saturday. Expect this. 2. The left door is for entering. The right door will not open - that's for when you leave. Don't try or you'll look ridiculous. 3. When you come in, the line will be long, and likely wrapped all the way into the "Order Pickup" section - the people standing there are not picking up. They're waiting to order. Don't cut in line or everyone will hate you but probably not say anything because...Hoosier hospitality. Luckily, a nice man waved me to the back after I committed this faux pas. 4. You will probably wait minimum 10 minutes. Don't worry, they have 4 or so people working the counter so the line moves quicker than it would appear. 5. If you come late, it may look like they're out of your favorite donuts, when you get to the register, double check. Sometimes they have secret stashes in the back! But they will prob be out of blueberry cake :( 6. Applesauce cake and maple glazed yeast are winners. The cake - slightly spiced, light, sweet, delicious. The maple yeast - light, airy, with the perfect thickness of maple-y sugary deliciousness on top. Let us not talk about the Neapolitan I had for dessert later that day either...I know, I'm such a fatty, but gah! It was so good! 7. If you're looking for crazy flavors like you'd find at Rocket 88 or GADCO, you're not gonna find them here. What you WILL find is all your classic donuts, perfected. BONUS! You can buy about 4 Long's donuts for the price of 1 at either of the aforementioned places. More donuts = more happiness. Long story short - I love Long's and you should too. An Indy staple, with good reason.

The best ever!! The line is worth it, you get to look at the selections, and drool. Once you finally get to sink in, you quickly forget about the line, which all in all let's you know they are good if people are willing to wait! I love when they have their pumpkin donuts out, yum!

GLAZED YEAST No matter the pastry, it's always good, if it comes from Long's. But, if like me, you adore a simple, glazed yeast donut. This is your place in Indy. The things melt in your mouth, and who cares if they meld to your middle.

Great experience. I have family in Indy and after enough visits, knew this was a must try. I got out of bed early in the morning, drove across town, and still ended up waiting in line. The location didn't look like much. While waiting in line I chatted it up with people who all seemed to have been coming there for 10+ years. The donuts were not crazy like some of the new shops popping up, but they were GOOD. My only mistake was not getting a dozen glazed yeast. They were incredible and I can't wait to go back and have more.

Two words for you: BLUEBERRY DONUT. Hands down, the best I have ever had. Plus you cannot beat the price. Long's always has an amazing selection and I truly have never had a bad donut from here. I do wish they: 1. Took credit cards. I hardly have cash on me so i can't get a donut if I don't have some cash! 2. Had inside seating. It's a smaller area and primarily just for pick ups but sometimes it would be nice to get your donut and sit and enjoy!

57 cents. Bring it. Literally! This place is cash only, but a few quarters & some pennies are all you need to get in on the good stuff. (Note: The good stuff = a yeast donut) Open surprisingly late on Sunday's - I popped in at 6 PM and they were going strong!

DONUTS!!!!!!!!!! ok. done. Wait....DONUTS!!!!! ok. Now I'm done. If you're going to get donuts around here you go to Longs. They're not fancy but they are cheap and yet delicious. They also sell great brownies, cookies, cakes, and other breakfast items like turnovers, danishes, and rolls. I don't come here often, but when I pass and if I have cash, then I somehow find myself stopping in the lot. I don't know how it happens but it does! This place can get very busy-both locations can- so be prepared to wait almost any time of any day. Anywho, this is a good place to come if you're needing a quick donut fix and don't want to pay an exuberant amount. They aren't fancy but they are delicious. I do suggest to try some of their other pastries if you're not a donut fan, as those are good as well.

Long's Bakery without a doubt makes the best donuts in Indy! I would recommend their yeast donuts, they are delicious! My kids would argue that the chocolate glazed are the best. Be ready to wait in line but know that it will definitely be worth it. And don't forget to bring cash.

Living in Indianapolis my whole life, I have been one lucky gal to have grown up knowing that Long's doughnuts were the only ones for me, and I haven't yet been disappointed! Make sure to bring cash! No cards accepted here, and what they back in the a.m. is what you have for the day, so if you're Picky Patty, getting here early is key. (although, if you're like me, no matter what pastry you get is good enough to blow your socks off!) I recommend your traditional yeast if you're not feelin' daring, but the apple danishes/strudels are TO. DIE. FOR. You won't be let down no matter what you get, and with their prices, you could try everything in stock!

You aren't from Indiana if you haven't had Long's. Seriously, these donuts beat out every other donut I've ever had. A few friends of mine that have moved out of state say they won't ever truly feel at home because there is no Long's. I don't even care a little bit that they don't take debit or credit.

I thought I was adapting to the polar vortex weather when I stopped coming close to hypothermia every time I went outside, but then I stepped on a scale. Long's Bakery, take a bow - you've provided me with the layer of insulation I needed to survive this winterlong transformation of Indianapolis into the planet Hoth. The donuts. Oh, the donuts. You step inside and you're hit with the steamy smell of warm yeast dough and nuts and glaze and milk chocolate. If they had church here I'd go. We always get a box full of donuts and scarf one in the parking lot. They're just that good. The standout is a little fried, glazed, nut-topped and chocolate frosting-mounded number that gets me every time. They also have seasonal concoctions that slay my face with taste. These donuts are so good I swear they have angel wings. Bring cash - they don't take card or check. Haven't looked into the possibility of trading your firstborn for a dozen, but it's worth a shot.

Ok. But they had flys around the baked goods when we went...disappointing. So we had to get the regular glazed donuts when we went to try different ones out. The donuts were good but tasted like they were baked a few days ago, another disappointment. I wont try this location again.

Worth a half hour drive and a half hour line. Easily the best place to get donuts in Indiana and at totally unbeatable prices. Save yourself some time and call a day before to make an order. You'll get in and out quicker but even if you wait until the last second, the line moves quick. Their caramel topped yeast with whipped cream filling is my personal favorite.

Lived down the street for the last 15 years and never came into bakery until recently and have to say- best glaze donut in town!!! For the last month, I've gotten donuts every weekend! Pumpkins donut is good and my daughter loves the blueberry donut! Everything taste so fresh and just melts in your mouth!

I'm not sure what to add... This place is awesome. It is incredible. Amazing. Its a bakery. It has bakery stuff. And every donut/pastry/food item I have had from here is fresh, delicious. This place has been a staple for as long as I can remember. I don't know that I've ever had a better basic glazed donut. The simple things. Pretty sure it's been over 10 years I've crushed donuts from here. I think I had a decent cup of coffee, but my clouded fresh donut memory had overridden any sure recollection.

While I always enjoy the doughnuts, the customer service is a different tale to tell. I recently stopped by for a dozen and a gift certificate. Obtaining the certificate proved to be difficult as the cashier did not know what I was talking about. Eventually, got the doughnuts and the certificate. I moved out of Indy almost 15 years ago, but Long's glazed yeast is still where it's at. We used to come here after church and get to pick whatever was on the day old rack--it was still great! The prices have barely changed. Every time I'm in town I pick up a melt in your mouth glazed yeast and pack an alligator claw for the flight home. Never change your cash-only policy.

Simply put, the best donuts in the city of Indianapolis. They have two locations, one on Southport Rd. and the other off of West 16th st. Be prepared to wait on the weekends as both locations get very busy. They also have brownies and other sugary delights. The only drawback is that they only accept cash. Their prices are very reasonable.

Really cheap. Really delicious. Cash only. There really isn't much here. Get here early if you want something specific, as choices get sparse as the day goes on. But in the end you're going to walk out with something delicious, so don't worry too much about the timing.

I thought i loved Taylors Bakery but this place blows them out of the water. Taylors doesn't have yeast donuts and they run out of things pretty early in the day. I went to Longs at like 4 pm on a Sunday and they still had every single thing I wanted. They are a cash only place so make sure you prepare before going. But the fact that they are open on Sunday is amazing! I can't tell you how many times I have been to Taylors on a sunday and been disappointed. Im not from Greenwood but work down there sometimes and I don't know if i will be able to pass this place without stopping and grabbing a few things. They had a pretty decent line to wait in when I got there but I probably only waited about 10 minutes total. Love this place and can't wait to go back again!

Can the word institution be overused? Nope. Long's has a history of sweetness. It's simple preparation of all donutycakeiness gives rise to long lines. Plenty of old standbys want you to take them home. Jelly filled, Bavarian creme and donut holes. The napoleon is always a good choice. Fresh. There was a mystery hiding in the front case. Called a Mary Ann. Chocolate cake base topped with a mound of whipped cream and covered in a chocolate glaze. It's an inside out ding dong! Break out the fork for this one. Remember to bring cash. You rock Long's!

Longs has always been a tasty treat of mine. Always baked fresh and delicious, thier bakery is a staple in our community. The donuts are amazing, they are not what I have issue with. I do find their customer service to be atrocious, 4 out of 5 times I go in I get someone behind the counter that seems like they are just completely miserable. And the whole cash-only thing is super inconvenient at times.

I know it's cliche, but oh my gosh this place is so cute! Just a heads up, they ONLY accept cash, so know it before you go so you don't stand in the long line then aren't able to pay. They have so many different selections of cake, cookies, brownies, donuts and so much more and everything is made fresh. You'll never see this place not busy on a Saturday or Sunday morning, but the service is pretty quick if you know what you want. If you are from a small town like me, this place will make you feel like you are back at home. Not only has this place been around a long time, but the food really is delicious. We will be back for Sunday morning donuts for sure!

Pass this Bakery on the way to work everyday. I read the reviews and was very excited to try it out. Turns out it is OK. Nothing bad, nothing great. Decent. I did not find the donuts to be anything special. I might go again just to see if it's any better, but to me for the taste waiting in that long line isn't worth it.

So I woke up a lazy Saturday morning and I had a craving for Doughnuts. New to town and didn't know where to go. So Yelp to the rescue. Apparently there is a long standing debate (no pun intended) about the best doughnuts in Indy. Taylors vs Long's. So dragged my sleepy ass to longs to get me some of the goodies. Let me cut to the chase as there really isn't anything that I can add here to the many reviews that have extolled the virtues of Long's.. First the line is long (no pun intended again) but it moves fast which means that you cant flirt with the girl behind the cash register unless you want a dirty look from the guy waiting in line behind you. Second, they take only cash; be ready. Third, get as many as you think you can eat cause by the time you get to the car you would have bitten into one and turned right around to go get some more. Except now you have to wait in line again and this time the girl behind the cash register is ignoring you. Hey... just giving some friendly advice. All in all this will be a place I will be visiting again and again.

First of all there is no where to park. Parking lot is too small. Took 30 minutes to get my order. Place is way too small for the amount of business it does. There were tons of flies inside gross. Who doesn't take credit cards in 2014 really. Owner must be too cheap to pay the 2 or 3% they charge. Donuts are good but not good enough to put up with all this.

They have signs now, alerting everyone very clearly that they do not take credit cards or checks, CASH ONLY. It's still a bummer because I have to make sure I plan ahead but at the same time I understand that credit card companies charge businesses a fee and that sucks. I stopped in this morning and got 2 dozen doughnuts, a dozen plain yeast and a dozen assorted. And, of course, a big, wonderful cheese danish for myself. My total came out to around $12.50 and it's totally worth it to have an office full of people love me for the rest of the day. By the way, they have the world's best danish. And I have tried lots of different danish. The icing on the pastry part is very light, not thick and sickly sweet like most places. The pastry itself is moist, somewhat dense (it needs to be to hold that amount of cheese filling), and a little flaky. There is a generous amount of cheese filling in the middle, which again isn't overly sweet. The cheese is my favorite part, I eat around it and save that wonderful cheesy center for last. The glaze on the yeast doughnuts is light and does lean to the sweet side, but it's not shellacked on. It's two coats of glaze, if that. (I'm thinking more like one generous coat.) Which is a nice deviation from the places that think more glaze = better. If the glaze comes off my doughnuts in chunks it's too much. The staff is friendly. Maybe not ear to ear smiles but they are pleasant, especially when you consider that they are dealing with the early morning crowd and I bet most of their customers are arriving before that first cup of coffee has kicked in. Also, as a germ freak I love that all the doughnuts here are behind the counter. I don't have to worry about other customer's (possibly unwashed) hands touching my doughnuts.

3.5 stars, actually. They aren't the best donuts I've tasted, but for a bakery, they're pretty darn good. Most bakery's donuts have a semblance to the other baked items. I didn't try the other offerings, but I can confidently say that they are distinctly donut. The cake donuts about middle-of-the-road. Frostings aren't too bad, not too sugary. Same for the glazes. They achieve flavor and sweetness without overdoing it. The yeast donuts are pretty good. I could see myself going to town a bit on those. Not too heavy, not too sugary at all. The apple fritters are not fritters in the truest sense. In fact, they were more like a bun, but decent enough. If I were in the area again and there was nothing better, I wouldn't hesitate. In the bigger world of donuts (talking geography here,) there is much better out there. For a bakery, that rate better for donuts than most bakeries in said geography. Keep that in mind.

I grew up getting Long's donuts after church every Sunday with my Grandma when I was a kid and love them just as much today. The prices are unbeatable, and the pastries melt in your mouth. I adore the old school feel, friendly nature of the cashiers, and small talk amongst customers suggesting new treats to try. If you've lived in Indianapolis for awhile and haven't tried Long's you have no business calling yourself a true Hoosier.

Long's' versus Taylor's, Taylor's versus Long's. This feud is to locals as Cubs/White Sox are to North/South-siders in Chicago. Having lived in Indianapolis for only 4 years, I consider myself unbiased. I've tried a countless number of baked goods from both, taken input from friends who grew up going to one or the other, and have spent many a night trying to decide who will rein supreme (not that it's important to anyone else but me). In my humble opinion, I'm going to have to call it a draw. They both offer their own specialties. For this review, I'm going to focus on Long's. In short, Long's wins the battle of BEST glazed yeast donuts in town! I'd say that they're just like grandma used to make, except my grandmother was a small Filipino immigrant who couldn't even pronounce "glazed yeast donut". But lets pretend that she could, then I would imagine that this is what she would make. I'm also a fan of their danishes. Now, as much as I'm a fan of their donuts I can only grant Long's 4 stars because of their lack of a credit/debit card reader. I get it, small businesses are trying to avoid the fees, and I'm sure their average price per sale is low so their, but I still don't like it.

I live three minutes from here, but only visit once in a while. Why? Cash only! This is 2012. Only those over 80 and those under 10 have cash and change readily available. That said, the donuts are pretty damn good. Are they the best in Indy? Some think so. I don't think I've had better here in town, so I'll go with it.

On a 1-10 Scale: Food = 12! | Service = 5 | Ambiance = 4 In Ten Words: The best chocolate donuts I've ever had in my life! Notes: 1) CASH ONLY! 2) Gotta get there super early on weekend mornings to beat the crowd; the line of customers goes out the door! 3) The earlier you eat the donuts, the better; don't save for the next day as they completely decline in texture and taste. FOOD: I'm from L.A. but I travel to Indy often. When I do, I make it a point to get my Long's on! I've tried donuts everywhere in the States and from mom-and-pop shops to the national chains (Krispy Kreme, Winchell's, Dunkin Donuts, etc.), but I believe Long's has the BEST! They bake cakes and other desserts (brownies, cookies, etc.), too, but my review doesn't cover those since I've only had the donuts. The CHOCOLATE GLAZED YEAST DONUTS are one of my favorite desserts and by far the most delicious donut I've ever tasted. The chocolate is rich, unlike that of other places (where they cover the little bit of chocolate with a sugar glaze or dilute the chocolate glaze with a regular sugar glaze). The donut is soft, light, fluffy, and so clean-tasting for a donut. Sure, it was fried-- but it doesn't taste greasy like at the cheap donut joints. The cinnamon glazed and regular glazed yeast donuts are yummy, too. I'm not a fan of cake donuts, so I never order them. The one chocolate cake donut I inadvertently ordered was decent, though. SERVICE: Don't expect friendly service here. It's not the worst service I've ever experienced, but just don't expect a smile. Ever. I've never received outright rude service, though, so that's ok. AMBIANCE: Nothing fancy, yet clean and functional. It's a small bakery, so on the weekends, the line goes out the door because there isn't enough space to fit everyone in. You walk in, get in line along the display case of goodies, pay at the register, and off you go! It's busy -- there are always customers -- but the place isn't bustling or loud. Even though they get a lot of business, it feels like a mom-and-pop shop.

My husband and I were in Indy for the race and just rode by Long's by accident. So glad we did. Everything was wonderful and we did not mind having to pay cash. We usually use our card for everything but would never take stars off for them not taking credit. People today need to stop depending on the card and always carry some cash, you never know when you might need it. Tomorrow, back to Richmond, Va and NASCAR country and no Long's doughnuts.

One of the best kept secrets in Indy -- this tiny bakery is tucked into a small neighborhood on the south side but boy is it worth the trip. You must have a yeast donut of some variety, plain, iced, cinnamon sugar or my personal favorite, donut holes. All of their goodies are freshly made and don't stay on the shelves long. Be prepared though, the line usually is out the door and parking is hard to come by on the weekends. Trust me, it is worth the wait.

I recently did a three year stint on the East coast. (I know what you're thinking... How many times can this chick possibly mention that she lived in NJ? But really. This is pertinent.) I spent three years with limited access to really good donuts. There were Dunkin' Donuts locations everywhere there, but hands down... and bear with me as I make this hugely bold statement... Long's Bakery makes the best donuts I've ever had. I craved these donuts like crazy when I was out of state, and I'm so happy I get to enjoy them once again! They are fresh, and soft and always awesome. I WILL say that I've only been to the Southport location... Yes. There is often a line, even yesterday morning when I was there at 5:30 a.m... on a Wednesday. I will also concede that there is a bit of attitude going on. I guess it sort of reminds me of The Soup Nazi (from the television show Seinfeld; for those of us who are totally oblivious to popular culture-- No donuts for YOU!) Long's KNOWS they have awesome donuts. Their product is incredibly desirable. They are making cash hand over fist. They don't need to be nice. They just want to be efficient. For example, when the two tan, blonde sorority girl types in front of me couldn't make up their minds as to what to order ("Do I want a CHEESE danish, or STRAWBERRY danish? What kind of cheese is in a cheese danish? Why is it called a danish?") The cashier/counter girl got a bit impatient. It's not rocket science. It's just ordering donuts. If you know what you want, and you order it quickly and clearly, they have no problem with you. Use the time when you're standing in line to figure out what you want. See? Very easy. As far as the selection. It's basic. Nothing too terribly fancy. They aren't going to be stocking a cranberry/orange/nutmeg donuts anytime soon... Yeast donuts. Cake donuts. Glazed. Frosted. There's something very comforting about the simplicity... Moving on. The place is a little hole in the wall right over the railroad tracks near Southport and Madison. There is limited parking, but it's a private lot. It's clean inside, but very basic. There are no tables. You get your donuts. You go. Very important! They only take CASH. No credit cards. No checks (as though people use those anymore). But never fear! The donuts are SUPER inexpensive. As I mentioned, I was there yesterday morning. I got two bavarian cream donut rounds, two chocolate long johns with vanilla creme, and four glazed yeast donuts. It was 4 bucks and some change. Take that Krispy Kreme and your dollar a donut crap! Yay Long's!

The smell alone will just make your mouth water. As for that first bite of a fresh warm doughnut... can I say foodgasm! Think When Harry Met Sally...yeah I think she was eating a Long's doughnut in that movie. They are sssssoooooooo good!! Their other delectables are just as fabulous. Peanut butter lover? Try their Peanut butter brownies. Even the plain brownies are worth to stand in line for. If you are still debating on going here...ask yourself...would a place that has awful baked treats suck if there was a line wrapped around the building? Yeah I think not. Just get in line with the rest of us...totally worth it!

The BEST doughnuts you will ever eat, hands down!!! This place has been around for a long time, if you haven't been there...GO NOW!!! There really isn't much more to say about this place, just go and see for yourself!!! You'll be a fan!

The doughnuts here are fresh and delicious (and inexpensive)! You can see why they've been around so long. On weekend mornings there is usually a line out the door. I have tried a few of their other baked goods here, but my favorite thing to order is the glazed yeast doughnut with chocolate icing. There is something about that chocolate icing... I don't know how to describe it! It's just SO GOOD! I like this place a lot, so I hate to say anything bad about it, but I do have a few complaints. 1) It bothers me that there is no seating. It's just a to-go place. 2) They do not take credit cards. It's cash only. 3) Their custard filled doughnuts are terrible in my opinion.

Ha. I should have known I wouldn't be the first to review this Indy institution. I gotta agree with other people about the selection being a bit slim, if you're used to the gazillion high fructose jelly-filled fried things from Dunkin Donuts. Rest assured that Long's has plenty of options, but prefers to smother things in pecans and glaze and fill them with luscious creams than jellies. I had a cinnamon fry and glazed yeast donut last visit. It was close to 9 a.m., and the line was still substantial. One bite of the fresh, flakey cinnamon fry revealed why. As all the reviews on the Tremont Street location revealed, it's cash only here. Most regular donuts run about $.50.

Other donut shops wish they were Longs. These are the best donuts you'll find. The cinnamon yeast donut holes are my favorite.

This bakery has the freshest donuts in Indianapolis. They melt in your mouth and are very warm. If you are planning to bring them home I advise you to buy a second dozen because the first dozen will likely not make it home unless you have incredible will power. They do not have many locations but it is worth driving across town to get the best donuts.

YUMMO! SO good! The regular yeast donuts are MUCH better than getting the donut holes. They are fresher...sometime warm, right out of the oven! Get there early, though, or wait in line while your mouth waters! One last thing...BRING CASH! There's nothing worse than making it all the way there and realizing you only have plastic!

Ouch. The flippant kids would write, "Epic Fail." Or, maybe worse, "FAIL." Ohhhhh, he's writing a negative review of a local institution, check that, local donutstitution. Uh huh. It's comprised of three parts. 1. Elevated expectations. I recall grand early morning trips with the 'rents for coffee & bear claws as a kid. I mean, they were way into it. Seemingly, everyone was. And, about a year ago I was shuttling to & fro on an overnight Greyhound Bus from St. Louis, and the all-night driver (from STL to NYC) purported: "Yeah, man, I'd just buy a giant box of Long's... set it up there on the dash, get a Big Gulp, and off we go, all night." Seriously, that's epic. (In a sweater vest, no less.) 2. What do the words, "Old-fashioned, Cake, & Plain" bring to mind when scanning the lexicon of do-nuts? Is it the brown, round, plain / no toppings, cake-y, original do-nut? Or, is the krispy kreme glazed, off-yellow, crusty do-nut? Or, could it be something else entirely... about a Cowboy from New Mexico? All I know is the first one... is what I remember as the original do-nut. And, I was sure to say all of them to make sure I got what I wanted. (Okay, yeah, this is when you say to yourself... "just look in the bag before you leave so you get what you want." Well... I'm in a new enviro, they give me my goods in a white bag, it feels good, it looks cool, I take it, I strap in, I bound down Southport Rd, I grab the donut without looking like Michael Douglas & Tobey Maguire in Wonder Boys, and, what do I feel... glaze. Crispy, syrupy, sticky, glaze that's more like my schnauzer's old, caked on, wet dandruff. Most certainly not an old-fashioned, plain cake do-nut. 3. Coffee. It's 4pm. It's Old Town Southport Road. There're old mills, there are train lights. There is a 20 degree chill. There's traffic. This cavalier adventure calls for one thing, warm-me-up coffee (along with that old-fashioned donut). After hearing from the worker, "yeah, it's not fresh." "Okay, well, is it warm?" For some reason it took her 30 seconds to find out if it's warm. Touch it. Just Touch It. By the way, making coffee wasn't an option. It was take the morning muck or not. This really just summed it up, for me. Then, I became entirely masochistic and ordered a "chocolate milk." As soon as it hit my lips I knew it was not chocolate, or milk, and it hurt my teeth. Uh huh, I'm that sensitive. It hurt. All of this hurt. There was Long's... a place I will give another shot... but damn this visit was not "A-OK," which would warrant 3 Stars; this visit just was a downright tantrum of the "we don't do anything right" faction of the universe. (And, when am I going to get a hankerin' for a fried round thing of bread at 6am or 4pm or 4am... I have no idea. It's a rare, rare cosmic collision. And it all cost me $1.93. Wow. 2 do-nuts and chocolate milk I never would use as fuel was a much better $1.93 than any gallon of gas any day.

Seriously best donuts everrrrrr. I remember going to Longs after church on Sundays as a kid. I am a forever fan of Longs. You must try their donuts, you won't be disappointed.Just make sure you bring cash!

Whenver we go visit my in-law's in Indy we make it a point to go to Long's. This place is by far the BEST bakery every! Their filling in the long johns or chocolate sticks is AMAZING!! Their brownies are delicious and their prices are super affordable. I love this place, but I"m glad I live far from there or I would be 400 lbs!!

Since I was a little girl I have always loved this place. I'm glad that they are still around! I went here yesterday & got a dozen of yeast glazed doughnuts & 3 chocolate walnut brownies. I needed a sugar fix. This definitely put a dent in my sugar cravings. I just wanted to write a quick review on it.

The Chocolate iced plain cake doughnut is NIRVANA as well as their Sticky buns and Cinnamon Sugar twists. You walk in the door inhale and suddenly you hear Angels singing Ava Maria!!! I worship here as often as possible.

I have always wanted to try their donuts everytime I go through Southport Road. I visited this place a couple of times and ordered a dozen of donuts for my family in each visit. I think this place is overrated. Nothing extraordinary. I'd rather go downtown and get my donuts from Dunkin Donuts. Or drive up to Keystone Ave and satisfy my craving for donuts from the Donut Shop. Dissapointed. I miss Virginia Kay's.

If you're cruisin' for some 'deep fried love" hit Long's bakery. It is a traditional location and the delights of old fashioned donuts are supposed to be from an old fashioned store front. These dreamy little bits are about the taste and your experience and you won't be disappointed. These kind folks work hard to create a little bit of heaven for you to savor - so make the trip. It's SO worth it!
