Sadly Disco fries aka Poutine is no longer on the menu. It's very disappointing, since they took out the Truck Stop Fries a few months before that. Even worse is how unaccommodating they are now. It was my friend's birthday and she's never had poutiine, so we made a special request because Disco Fries = fries, pot roast gravy, and cheese. But no, our server had to give us some sob story about not wanting to get int trouble for this request. What kinda BS is that?! You have all the ingredients! Other than that, the Thai Chili-Glazed Chicken Wings were good, but the Chipotle Chicken Nachos were disappointing. The portion was small and and the entire plate was really soggy. What happened Houlihan's? The food and quality of service seem to be deteriorating.

I always end up a Houlihan's while waiting for a movie. It is a nice, non-mall feel and a nice selection of interesting apps and entrees. While it is located at Castleton Square Mall, it certainly doesn't vibe like a mall restaurant. Nice modern decor, wide open floor plan, and seating outside make this a nice place for drinks and snacks or a full on meal. I recommend the sliders (esp. the pot roast one) . The pretzel stix are good, but the beer cheese is not as good as I had hoped. They have an alright draft beer selection, but a nice liquor bar. They also have app specials twice a day, which is nice.

Okay, so let me start this review by saying that someone from this corporation reached out to me after my last terrible experience and they were extremely kind and compensated me for the bad experience last time. I would give them 5 starts for their customer service for that. Our server this time was better and she was extremely personable and great with the kids (I was by myself with 4 kids). However my only complaint once again is the fact that they swear they can get our food to us in 20 minutes and it took over 30 minutes. This is not a big deal I only note this because they advertise it so much on their menu. My children were impressed by their chicken fingers and very satisfied. I got their entree adult Mac n Cheese to go and I am unsure of whether or not it is because I asked it for to go but it came in the same small container as their lunch portion side of soup. That was by far the worst 9 dollar Mac and Cheese my husband and I had ever had. It actually didn't even taste like there was any cheese in it. The only thing you could taste in the the mac and cheese was the bacon and bland noodles. I am super appreciative of management for making such a large effort to gain my business back and I would still like to try this place for just happy hour drinks since there is great reviews on that, but unfortunately I would never recommend eating here again. The prices are high for the quality of the food.

I love coming here for Long Island pitchers. Perfect price for drinks. The food is great and decently priced. I've always received great service and as j stated before the drinks taste great and are priced great. Sweet gem of Castleton.

Didn't know what to do on a rainy Friday night, so decided to go out for drinks with my boyfriend. I can't comment on the food since the kitchen was closed by the time we came, but we had already eaten. Perhaps if we're early enough, we'll try out the small apps next time. The 1/2 price drink specials are an awesome deal since we got the 1 liter long island ice tea to share, glass of wine, and a chocolate martini. Hey, since I couldn't get my espresso martini since they were missing a key ingredient, the chocolate martini was paid for by our server. Free drink on the house? Even better. And since we felt bad, we tipped well for excellent service by our server. 4 drinks for less than $10! Really?! For a chain restaurant, drink quality is very good...actually much better than some local clubs/bars. Tasty and strong enough to give you a slight buzz. I wish I was still in town, I'd be a frequent every weekend. More drinks, wallet-friendly, happy times! We'll be back!

The food was nothing special. The staff was super friendly, service was prompt, my steak was cooked perfectly. The only thing I didn't like is that my menu was moldy. eeeew

Went here with a couple of work colleagues and were very impressed overall. Our server Jon A was very knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered the Stuff Mushroom appetizer and it was great, our salads were prepared perfectly and served on a cold plate not overflowing. We had the Stuffed Chicken which was excellent I had the risotto as a side which was cooked to perfection. Overall our experience was excellent, we'll be adding Houlihans to our list of dining locations while were working here in Indianapolis.

Ate here yesterday, after an exhausting shopping day. I called to check in for a group of five and a high chair. I was told brusquely, "Just tell us all that when you get here." The person who seated us, in the practically empty restaurant, tried to put us at a table for four. (Maybe he couldn't count?) When I objected, he said, "We can't put the high chair at any of the big tables." I had to suggest putting two smaller tables together. Would you really put that inexperienced a person in the reception area? Interesting menu, several of us ordered the steak and wedge salad. A lovely wedge of lettuce was plated with a small tender steak, roasted asparagus and GOLDEN beets. The lettuce was dressed with blue cheese, real bacon and extra SLICES of cheese. $17.95. Outstanding! Other members of the party had the shrimp tacos and a grilled chicken salad, both very good. Service was perfect, except for the guy up front. Would've been 5 stars without him. I don't usually shop at Castleton, ended up there with family. Thought of Houlihan's because of many fond memories of meals at the old Glendale location. I will now add the Castleton Mall to my regular rounds, looking forward to ending at Houlihan's.

I was at this location again for lunch yesterday and felt I needed to update my last review. What a turnaround! The service was amazing and the food was made to order and delicious! I am going to chalk up my prior bad experience to the restaurant having an off day. I highly suggest this location for lunch and dinner, dinner parties etc.

So, an update to my previous review from my visit last week.. After leaving a negative review about the bad service we received during dinner here, the manager of the restaurant reached out to me. She was sincere in an apology and I was offered a small giftcard.

I revisited Houlihan's and had a much better experience. I was not able to partake in the Happy Apps because it is for the bar area only. I don't know why I didn't catch that my first time there. I went with my daughter and we both ordered an appetizer and and split a full rack of ribs. We also had the key lime mousse for dessert which was awesome, but unfortunately will no longer be served as they are changing to a caramel nut crunch pie. Sounds good and I look forward to trying it. Our server was friendly and provided us with much better service than my first visit. I love the spicy chicken avocado egg rolls.

I went there before 7 PM for their happy apps. That is, $3.75 smaller portion appetizers. I tried their ORGANIC spinach artichoke dip. It was worth it.

Here from Philly. Came around 4pm. Quiet, clean, establishment. Our server, Bull (tall white dude, bald head, look like he should be a Laker.) courteous, friendly, gentleman. Great service, good food. No doubt!

Decent restaurant. The few times that we have dined here, we have always had good, fast service. The last time that we were there, we stopped in for an early lunch. I had the Brentwood Chicken Sandwich and the hubby had the Southwest Grilled Chicken Wrap. The Brentwood is sooo delicious! Smoked applewood bacon, dijon mayo and gouda cheese, mmm, mmm, mmm. The wrap left a little to be desired. It was OK but needed some more flavor. We will be back.

Awesome service, good food. There's tgi Fridays which is one above Applebees. This is above that minus the stupid sorts crap on the walls. Classy and quick.

Looking at the menu I thought this was going to be a better experience than it was. Not that it was bad. The menu is just typical chain food. Me and my friend really liked the idea of ordering multiple small plates. So we got five. There was a lot of variation in quality it seemed. The best was the lettuce wraps. Seriously I waq surprised too. The worst was the Vietnamese shrimp spring rolls. They come with a trio of sauces all of which were disgusting as were the rolls. Get the lettuce wraps. Don't get the shrimp spring rolls.

I have been here several times and everything is usually okay. The last time I was here my experience was not that enjoyable. We decided to sit in the bar, but that was a decision that should have been re-thought. They only had one poor guy waiting on the entire bar area + the patio area outside. It was a pleasant night out, so the patio was packed. Meanwhile, there were 2 bartenders for a total of 4 -6 patrons the entire time I was there. It just seemed a little unbalanced. We had to wait 10+ minutes for a draft beer and a glass of wine. The food was okay, but I was really disappointed in one thing. I asked if I could switch out the bread salad (since I can no longer eat gluten) that accompanies the grilled shrimp entree, and was told no. Huge bummer because then my experience was limited to about 2 items on the menu. I ended up with the petite filet with french fries and asparagus from the small plates menu. The filet was cooked and seasoned well enough. The one perk was that they carried my favorite Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc.

For what it was...ok at best. My gf said the sangria was good. We ordered flatbread with mushroom and arugula. It was decent. Bruschetta was different because you assemble it yourself but taste wise...it was just ok. Thai wings were good. We sat in the bar area just to chill with our semi large group. Service was just ok. I guess there was a reason why I never went before to any of their establishments until now due to friend's invite. If it wasn't for good company, I don't think it would have been tolerable.

I was here about a month or so ago and won't be back. The service was bland almost felt like I was ordering from a machine, the food came out and was undercooked (even though they did try to make up for it), and it was way over priced for what it was worth. They were playing hip hop in a modernesk looking establishment which was uncomfortable and they had no craft or microbrew beers under their "craft" beer selection on the menu. Overall unimpressed..

I am a huge fan of Houlihan's. I am generally skeptical of chains, but this one won me over. The tapas/small plates are great for not overstuffing yourself and/or trying multiple things. My favorites so far are the veggie burger (seriously one of the best restaurant veggie burgers I've had - they often suck) and Truckstop Fries, which have a delicious sauce and are much better than the name might indicate. Another thing I love is the service. If you are not happy with your food, they will offer to bring you a replacement or take it off your bill. The last time, there was too much dressing on my salad for me, so my waitress brought me a new one with dressing on the side. Gotta love the cheap drinks, too. This place is good for both an intimate date and a big group party.

Wish this rating was higher. But I have to agree with some of the other reviews on here. The food is excelent but the service left A LOT to be desired. We showed up and were told it would be a 25 minute wait. Not too bad for a Saturday night but considering there were 6 empty 4-tops I couldnt understand why. We were seated in about 15. My wife and I and son #1 each ordered from the small plate menu. Son #2 ordered off the kids menu. Each of our dinners came out one at a time and the three of us were completly done and plates cleared before Son# 2's meal was served. We even had to ask about it or I feel fairly confident it wouldnt have come out at all. The waiter apologized and blamed it on the kitchen (not his fault)...then had to ask again what he had ordered. We were expecting a discout as the service was so bad. Not the case. When the bill came we argued with the waiter about paying for the kid's meal that came out so late. (I mean it was only 5 bucks). He apologized and said he thought someone else had already taken care of it (agian not his fault). I think we'll stick to the Hamilton Towne Center Houlihan's from now on. Never had a problem at that location. If you end up at either location, try the BBQ Chicken Flatbread. Pretty delishous and so are the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. And the beer was cold.

Following my last review, I was contacted by management and they did a great job of following up with me regarding my review. We returned to the restaurant and had an outstanding server, one who had no clue about our previous not so hot experience. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and as a bonus that is appreciated but not expected, he had a great personality. I ordered the ribs that fell off the bone and were finger licking good. My hubs had the steak fajitas which he seemed to enjoy. One other thing I failed to mention previously is Houlihan's unbeatable deal of 1/2 off all alcoholic beverages. This is only at the Castleton location however. Looks like I'll be coming back after all.

Four stars - It is what it is. American fair with cheap, but good, drinks. Does Houlihan's have the best food? No. Would this be a place I would take out of town guests? No. But Houlihan's is fine, if all you want is drinks and appetizers. The small plates are awesome as you can try a bunch of stuff, which is especially convenient if you don't know what you are in the mood for. My husband loves the nachos, and we both really like the stuffed mushrooms. All the staff we have encountered are friendly and service is good. They are there when your glass is almost empty, ready to get you another. But they don't hover and constantly interrupt. Seriously though, you can't beat the HUGE $4.50 top shelf long island. We love to pop in here after seeing a movie on date night. Seems like a great place for drinks with the girls, or for larger parties.

Although a chain restaurant this specific location inside Castleton Square Mall offers happy hour all day everyday and select appetizers (their big small plates) for $6 (food is 5-7 or 9 until close) with friends/family you can expect a good time. Tip: If you get sangria or long islands during happy hour - get the pitcher! It's only a little bit more money than the glass but you get a heck of a lot more!

These guys have done such a good job with their rebranding (a few years ago), menu updates and modern decor. It's truly a place that took the time to work out the details that makes you want to come, relax and enjoy your dinner. Their small plates, good price points, coupon offers and atmosphere will keep you coming back.

I absolutely love Houlihan's, but this specific location is horrible. The food is awful and the service is lacking as well. You might as well drive the 5 miles north and go to the Houlihan's at Hamilton Town Center. Try the hummus and lettuce wraps. You won't be disappointed.

Ok, 2.5, maybe. This review has nothing to do with the food. In fact, the food menu is pretty freakin awesome, and on Tuesdays, they have 1/2 price drinks and a $5 make your own burger. So, yay there. What gives this place 2 stars is THE SERVICE. The servers were not mean or bitchy, but this place has no rhyme or reason to it when it comes to the waitstaff... The following is quite a bit of a rant, so I apologize, but honestly it was horrible and I am embarrassed for the management. Ouch. My dad and I ordered wine. He ordered Pinot Noir, I ordered Chianti. Then we ordered our food a few minutes later. Our drinks never came. Later, the waitress said to me, "so, we're out of whatever you ordered". Um ok, do you not know what Chianti is, you probably had no idea what I said and couldn't pronounce it, therefore "we don't have it". So I said "o,h ok I'll just have the pinot noir like him". A few minutes later our food arrived. Still, no drinks. Some other waitress came by with one pinot noir but then she took it back? Then the original waitress came by again and asked us WHICH pinot noir we wanted... I guess there were 2 and we hadn't specified, but isn't that something you should ask when your customers order? We got our main course, finished it. No drinks. AFTER we finished, our drinks finally arrived. They were very full and my dad and I didn't even finish half of it. THEN the waitress came by and asked if we even got our food yet since she hadn't seen us eat it. Well, we ate our food quickly, clearly because we hadn't be able to wash it down with anything DOT DOT DOT My burger was fine, you get a lot of side choices that can also be healthy like mediteranean orzo-nomnom. The parents got the sliders and the flatbreads looked pretty good too. Everything was really reasonably priced and if you go on their website, they give ALL nutritional value. YOIKES! I'm used to having great service and knowledgeable waitstaff, but this place falls too short for me apparently. :\

Sigh...I am really open to giving things a chance even if they only have so-so reviews, I am always hoping that I will get to have a great experience and give a place lots of stars. I hope that places will listen to the feedback they receive and improve. Unfortunately, that was not the case this week at Houlihan's. They have the right idea in their head, that is for sure...nice looking restaurant, plenty of seating, a tasty sounding menu including lots of drink options. Sounded like the perfect place for drinks and food with my friend. But everything left a lot to be desired. We decided to check out their "Happy Hour" which left us not-so-happy at all. Mediocre weak drinks and overpriced appetizers even at their "Happy Hour" pricing. While our first drink, a cherry mojito was very delicious, it was mostly ice and leaves and very weak, $5. To start , we got the smaller sized, lower priced ($3.95) spinach dip and pretzels with beer cheese, both very tasty but so small...this is not going to entice us to buy more or come back. I get it, you want to save money by being cheap but we're going to see through it. Make happy hour deals worth picking you over a competitor. Next was a watered down lemon drop martini, $4, meh. We debated leaving at this point but it was so cold out, we didn't want to go outside so we decided to ditch the disappointing appetizers and order from the real menu. We got the grilled cheese and a chicken sandwich with bacon. We actually decided to cut both in half so we each could try it. The grilled cheese was boooring, bland and laughable at almost $10! The chicken sandwich was much better but we weren't blown away. Fries were fries...we also got a pitcher of raspberry long island ice tea and this was the closest to a decent deal drink-wise we felt all night. Service was good and polite occasionally spotty because I think she couldn't figure out what we were doing since we came very close to leaving, so not really her fault. I want to like this place, I really do, I need places to hang out with my friends that offer good deals on drinks and food, especially when we plan to stay a while and are comfortable to drop lots of $ when food and drinks are worth the $ but Houlihan's did not provide this on this visit....

Houlihan's is a high class Applebee's. Admittedly, it is a nice break from walking around the mall, because their cocktails are decent. The food isn't really worth it. And this last experience was pretty disappointing. We waited forty-five minutes for our food. The best part? When the manager came to our table to ask how things were, the waitress rushed over to be sure to defend herself. Sorry, but it's going to take more than that to fix us having to watch all four tables around us be seated and finish their meals before we got any food. The manager, who looked like he could be twelve, gave us one free appetizer for our next visit. As if we would go for another visit after that.

I've been to other Houlihan chains before and they are pretty consistent. Came here tonight between showings at the AMC for the Heartland Film Festival. My 2 lady friends and myself had the chopped salad on the Small Plates menu and my friend Marty enjoyed the meatloaf from the regular Dinner menu. A big thank you to my friend Marty for treating me for my birthday! I'll return the favor next week for his birthday :-) Good service and great company. A very enjoyable evening.

One of my fav places on the Northside because of the fresh ingredients and cheap cocktails. You can taste the quality. No shade to Applebee's or any other frozen food franchise but once you taste Houlihans dishes you will understand. Some of my fav dishes are the Thai wings, chipotle chicken nachos and the stuffed chicken breast entree. This time our server/bartender was Mike. He was great.

Just left there on a Saturday at 3p. The place looks great but unfortunately looks don't sell in a restaurant. Food and service does.... Sat down and greeted in a decent time by a server that seemed to be somewhat knowledgeable. Asked about happy hour pricing and he said it was unfortunately in the bar and outside only....no big deal. Ordered a agave margarita..came out and was horrible. Served in a martini glass and didn't taste of anything but citrus and who knows what. Unfortunately I sent it back and got a Blue Moon. Really can't mess that up. Ordered chix tenders and a steak to split for the kids. The food came out but no silver wear to eat. Asked and he brought it over. Never asked how our food was and came 15 min later to drop a check. If he would of asked, the steak was very gristly and lacked any kind of flavor. It should have been seasoned at minimum. The mashed potatoes were luke warm at best and if you know that two kids are splitting it, maybe you should split it up on two plates...it's common in the restaurant industry. Oh and 2 stalls out of 3 out of toilet paper in the ladies restroom. Maybe try to focus on great service and good food before you try to get fancy and creative. The plates are cool, the decor is cool but if you can't stick with the fundamentals of restaurant service and food offering, maybe you shouldn't waste your money on all the fluff.

Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar has many locations, including two in central Indiana. I ate at the Houlihan's in northeastern Indianapolis' popular Castleton Square Mall (just to clarify, its attached to the outside of the mall but is essentially its own building and is not a part of the food court in the mall or anything like that). The inside of this Houlihan's is made up of two fairly distinct areas catering separately to the restaurant and the bar portions of their name. Both areas are fairly upscale, and my tip is that it is possible to see the televisions in the bar from most areas of the restaurant if you position yourself appropriately. Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar serves appetizers, soup, salad, seafood, sandwiches, steak, flatbreads, and various other entrées along with beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Therefore, even the pickiest of eaters should be able to find something they like, and I chose to start with their Soft Bavarian Pretzel Sticks. These pretzel sticks come with two dipping sauces; smoked Swiss beer-cheese and house made stone ground mustard. They weren't the greatest pretzel sticks and dips that I have ever tasted, but they were still tasty enough that I would probably order them again as an appetizer on future visits to Houlihan's. Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar offers BBQ Chicken, Wild Mushroom & Arugula, Margherita, and Italian Sausage flatbread pizzas. I settled upon the margherita which is made up of marinara sauce, basil, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella and romano cheeses. My favorite part was the cheese because it was more flavorful and plentiful than is typical for a lot of flatbreads. However, there wasn't much else that stood out to me, and I was not a big fan of its cracker-thin crust. It wasn't bad, but I just think the flatbreads at Houlihan's are probably better as appetizers, and there are a lot of other tempting items on their menu that would likely be better as the main course.

Won't be back again. Not a fan of chains in the first place, but couple that with bad service and over-salted food with high prices? To hell with that. Recently went for a late lunch w/ one of my girlfriends before a movie, and though the place was empty, the service sucked. The food was, as mentioned, too salty, and when I asked for double asparagus on the side of my salmon, I think I got 6 spears. WTH? Would have done better eating at the dang mall food court.

I got the Bay Scallops. Ok. The balsamic was a nice touch, however there was a bay leaf left behind. The lemon zest should have been grated, and I know I live in Indiana and generally we have no gauge for seafood, but if your asking $20 for a plate of rice and scallops don't overlook them! THEY WERE PURE RUBBER!!

We stopped in for appetizers Tuesday night Aug 19, 2014. Ashley L. Miller waited on us and when I say she was Awesome I mean she was Awesome. We love her and will look for her every time. We appreciated her service and attentiveness!

Most of the time the service is excellent. We usually sit at the bar and the happy hour specials are good. Food is good for a mall chain. Even better that you can do the happy apps and treat it like a tapas place.

I always enjoy my time at Houlihan's. The food is good, and the drinks are a plus. The waitresses and waiters are very friendly, and the bartenders take care of their customers. It's no 4-star restaurant, but the prices are good for what the restaurant offers.

I love going there for "pre gaming" before going out. They have long islands in mugs for the price of $4.50. They also have different flavors/variations of the long islands. It can be a little pricey, but if you become a member of their text/email club they send out certificates for discounted food. Wait staff is overall attentive. I've never had an experience so bad that made me never want to return to houlihans.

I haven't written a review of Houlihan's yet because I didn't know exactly what to say...let's start with this: I ADORE THIS PLACE. A group of friends and I show up almost every weekend for some food, drinks, and laughs. The bartenders are good at what they do; the long islands are amazing. I have to recommend the raspberry. Other drinks that they serve are good, too, but when it's $4 for a huge pitcher I can't order much besides the long islands! The food is great and the menu is perfect for somebody like me who doesn't typically eat a lot in one sitting...and I'm not always going straight home so taking leftovers doesn't always work. You know how it is. Houlihan's has the "small plates" section on the menu and we hardly ever order anything from any other part of the menu. The BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza is one of the best things they offer, in my humble opinion. The Truckstop Fries are so bad for me but so delicious. Let's not forget the stuffed mushrooms, which come with horseradish sauce...okay, I have to stop here before I make myself hungry. It's too late on a week night for a Houlihan's run!

We did go today, and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation. I mean, the restaurant was empty, the parking lot was empty, and it was 10AM, but I can totally understand why a reservation is necessary. Knowing now that we just lucked out the first time, and a reservation is necessary to eat here, I doubt I will bother coming back.

The fire grilled Atlantic Salmon was great! I wish the service was as good. I was the only one setting at the bar, and out took 15 minutes to replenish my empty beer. The bar tender was busy, but the manager was just walking around like he was lost? You would think he could give the guy a hand.I will finish by saying I have had bad food here.

  • Julie S.

This place was just "good" before, not because of the food but because it was affordable. Looks like they have pared down their menu by about 50% and have done away with their good prices. I will never go back to pay $74 for two small pizzas, one small salad and four glasses of wine.

We decided to go here after friends we had visiting us wanted to go. I've been to Houlihan's at a different location and had an enjoyable visit. This visit was another story. We came in on a Saturday night around 7 with a party of 5. When we walked in it was somewhat busy, but not completely packed. We sat in the bar. Our visit started off with one of the bussers being in a horrible mood, which he took out on us at the beginning and then came and apologized and told us he's just frustrated with how other staff members are doing their job. We start by ordering drinks. I ordered the long island pitcher. I thought it was a great deal until I tasted it. Sure it tasted great... but I tasted absolutely NO alcohol in it at all. The drink was actually thirst quenching and really only tasted like juice. I think that was the first mixed drink I've ordered at a restaurant where I legitimately could not taste any alcohol. After a lot of waiting, we all put in our food orders and then our waiter disappeared again for a long time. We were all sitting without drinks for at least 15-20 minutes. When we finally saw him again we could hear him at the bar telling another staff member how it was ridiculous the food wasn't ready yet. He said the fish tacos (which I ordered) only take 7 minutes to make. He comes over to us and apologizes for us not having our food yet and says that our table has now been sitting here for over 30 min, when we should have had food around the 20 minute mark or something like that. He offers us complimentary shots and two choices of free dessert. That made our visit somewhat better because we were really tempted to walk out but we were all starving. Finally our food comes out, my fish tacos were nice and warm, but some people's sides came out cold. The manager apologized and brought out a warm replacement. Meanwhile, we noticed a table beside us got up and left because they sat there for 20 minutes without even being waited on. Overall, the staff tried to make things better at the end... but I don't understand how the service was so poor in the first place. They didn't seem understaffed. The kitchen looked like it was overcrowded with workers. I don't know if I'll be back again. I definitely won't order a mixed drink again, since mine was a huge disappointment. The food was alright, but definitely wasn't worth the wait.

We happened to be in the Castleton Square Mall and got hungry. Houlihan's was close, so we figured why not. We were happy with the decision. I kept it simple and got a burger. It was big, had great flavor and was on a really good bun. The fries were perfectly crispy and came in a good sized portion. I would recommend getting a burger without their bacon, though. Mine was undercooked for my taste. Anyway, the staff was welcoming and attentive, the atmosphere was great for a pub-style restaurant, and it was just outside the mall. If you're in the mall or are on the northeast side of Indy, I'd recommend stopping by.

My wife and I arrived at 6:30 on a Tuesday night, and were shown to our seat by a hostess. We were just 3 booths from the hostess stand but somehow we were "invisible." After 15 minutes, we were able to flag down a waitress by standing up and waving. She came by and mumbled a "May I help you?" There must have been about 25 employees on the floor and only 20 customers in the place. There was no excuse for the slow and poor service. My wife ordered a "Fire Grilled BBQ Salmon Salad" which she enjoyed... except the BBQ sauce on salmon. Standard BBQ intended for ribs does not go well on salmon. She really enjoyed the mix on the other parts of the salad, though. I ordered the "Chicken Caesar Salad" which was mediocre and completely uninspired. However, it came with some fried polenta wedges, which were good and quite a surprise. Except for the polenta, the salad was no different from what is bought in a plastic container at the supermarket. It had a strange chemical aftertaste that lingered to the next morning, I believe from the Caesar dressing. With tax and a 20% tip, the total bill was $35 for two salads. The service was poor and the average quality salads were overpriced. Avoid this place! Are all Houlihan's the same? That is, slow service and overpriced mediocre food?
