Let's hear it for awesome pork tenderloin, some of the best chicken wings outside of Buffalo, and a new, great find on Indy's undiscovered south side. Seriously, the tenderloin is among the best I've had since becoming a Hoosier. Is it the very best in town? Well, I'd no sooner claim to know that with any certainty than I'd claim to know the best bagel in NY or the best fish taco in TJ. But with its crispy, tasty breading and juicy, tender interior, I'm sure it would hold its own on any discriminating Hoosier's palette. And the wings, yes, the wings! On the recommendation of the helpful and friendly server, I actually had them Spicy Teriyaki rather than Buffalo, and what good advice that was! But what really made them stand out was that perfect texture -- a quality so hard to get just right in the world of chicken wings: Despite being covered in that delicious sauce, the skin still maintained a slight crispiness -- and the wings themselves were jumbo, juicy and just right. The ambiance was definite sports bar, which means that if you're looking for a sports bar, few places will beat Big Daddy's. I wouldn't call it a dive (though it looks like one from the outside), which makes a place like this an even rarer treat in Indy's lower latitudes. The beer selection was basically nonexistent. But for what it is (a place to watch a game; a place to get some grub; a new find in an under-explored neighborhood), Big Daddy's is a big hit!

This place is sort of close to my home so we decided to drop in. Menus are already at the table waiting for you so that is nice. Every info I could find says they stay open until 3 am on Friday and we arrived close to 11 and was told the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes if we wanted to order. Yes. Yes we wanted food. It's hard to get a decent late night bite and the menu looked promising. I was really bummed that this place offered absolutely zero local beers. What the? Not even a can of Sunking??!!! The craft beer selection was zip. Zilch. Don't try to tell me the angry orchard or blue moon is craft cause it's not. So on that note I had a Guinness It wasn't fresh. Oh well. Now on to the food. We ordered several items to share. Loaded nachos were terrible. The chili on top was bland. No spice. The cheese was sparse. There was a TON of lettuce on it. Salsa on the side was the most blah tasteless salsa ever. Chicken livers were over cooked and super salty. $10 BLT was a funky let down. The bacon wasn't the salty, crunchy goodness we were expecting. We took everything home and fed it to our teenagers cause they will eat anything. Maybe the food was crappy cause they were closing the kitchen? That's really no excuse. Service was decent. They started cleaning up to close at 11:40pm. We felt rushed to finish and leave so we did. Can't imagine returning, but hey they do have a parking lot which is nice so who knows.

If I ever want a good burger when I am in Indy, I know where to go. I was quite impressed by this South side establishment. My friend usually finds these fun places to go to that have free activities to take part in and Friday night was Trivia Night. We met up with 3 other people I hadn't seen in a few years and our team was set. We ended up finishing in 2nd place and got a $15 gift certificate for the restaurant itself. But it's not really about the prize, is it? No, no! It is about the conversations that the trivia sparks with your friends and you can have a good old time at this neighborhood joint. Set up like any American bar across the country, a place Norm could easily call home, full of regulars, mid to dim lighting, those little arcade games that you can gamble your money away line the walls and music just low enough you don't really have to strain your voice so your friends can hear you across the table. For a bar, I wasn't expecting much from the bathroom, but they must have just undergone a renovation. They were extremely clean, well maintained, the urinal was glistening white and the floor was not sticky at all. Talk about feeling comfortable in a public restroom. The soap dispenser was even full! Nice thick tile lined the floors and walls and you could tell there was thought put into this lavatory. My buddy and I shared the pot roast nachos. Very good! I avoided the peppers, but the rest was just fine! My bacon cheeseburger was great. Although not made to order, probably for fears of a lawsuit, it was still very tasty, the right amount of char on the edges topped with quality bacon and American cheese, with nice tomatoes and an actual piece of real lettuce. The bun served the burger well. If you couldn't tell by now, this said establishment really blew me away for a local bar. It doesn't need to be a dive or a yuppie place to have character. A constant flow of regulars and good times in the late 20s and up crowd and you can make for a good time without the hassle of crazy drunks ruining your night. Bravo Big Daddy's. Keep up the fantastic work.

The softball team and I went to Big Daddy's before our game and everyone was impressed. The area surrounding may not be the greatest but don't let that fool you. The inside of this establishment was very well done and the food was really good! I had hot teriyaki wings and also tried their buffalo chips, both were fantastic. Beer prices are typical but was hoping for a better special being a Tuesday. Looking forward to going back to try their tenderloin for I heard it's amazing.

High marks for service! Paula takes good care of her customers. Had wings that were on special and "king cut" onion rings. Rings were too done and batter was bland.......almost commercial. Wings were just passable. Pretty dry and not fresh tasting. I'll try them again and hope the chef is having a better night. Paula did take the rings off my bill.

My husband and I looooove this place. Best place to watch football games or just hang out. The owners are wonderful. It's always fun in there!!! It's a good thing I have children, otherwise I would be there everyday

I love stopping in big daddy's on cold winter night for a heaping bowl of the prime rib stew. It is the perfect mixture of prime rib, rustic cut potatoes & carrots, and spices. Great way to warm up on a cold night. The tenderloins are huge and all white meat with a crunch-tastic breading that goes well with their thick cut fries or their ginormous onion rings. (Side note- I have them fry my onion rings longer than normal because the fatter rings tend to not be done sometimes) The atmosphere is normal bar atmosphere. The service can be a little slow at times but the waitresses are always nice. Great place.

For a semi dive bar, one would think I would give less stars. The truth they have it updated, an expansive menu, scheduled live local entertainment, and a good staff. It's a little off the normal path just south of downtown on South Meridian, in more of a residential neighborhood. It's an affordable central location for my family on all sides of town to gather. They even have a family dining area for when the under 21 part of our family wants to joint. The food is tasty and I recommend stopping in.

Big Daddy's is one of those great examples of how a looks can be deceiving. It's kind of a hole in the wall place, but they do a good business here. It's close to work for me, so it's a fairly common lunch spot for a lot of the guys I work with. I hadn't been before, but I can see why they go. The price are appropriate for the food - mostly burgers, wings, sandwiches, etc. - and the food tastes good. It's a no frills place, but the place is clean and the services is good. With good food, good prices, and good service it's no wonder this place is packed for lunch. I think next time some of the guys head here for lunch I'll be tagging along.

Because I can't give 3.5 stars, I'll round up to 4. I bought a Groupon for Big Daddy's, so we headed over there for a Saturday lunch. Weirdly, there were only about 5 other people in the restaurant at 12:30. Plus, there was no music playing -- so the loud tipsy guy at the bar (yes, at lunchtime) and -- special treat! -- the guy at the next table discussing his Crohn's symptoms over the phone with his mom (yes, at lunchtime) -- were quite audible. There was only one server/bartender but he ably took care of everyone. I ordered a Reuben, which was meh, but the coleslaw was good. My husband really liked his burger (the Big Daddy) and his fries were excellent! Eventually someone commented on how "awkwardly quiet" the restaurant was so the bartender put on music -- and it was the weirdest choice ever. I was so peeved my Shazaam app wasn't working because it sounded like it could have been the Baja Men or something like that! Apparently they are super busy during the workweek during lunch. Lots of TVs around the place. They have a smaller "family" dining room -- I want to say it is 18+ after 10 p.m. For the Big Daddy burger, Reuben, two upsize sides (the standard is kettle chips) and an iced tea and diet coke, it was about $28. Not bad, especially considering how much food we got.

Everyone raves about the pot roast nachos and I'm not really a fan. However, their buffalo chicken sandwich is a different story because it's one of the best I've ever had. Come here expecting large portions of solid bar food.

Finally made it to this place. They are closed on Sunday, somehow it was the only day I could visit, but anyway I went tonight to try the famous nachos! The server said the order was huge, she wasn't lying. Two of us tore it up and there was still some left on the plate when we couldn't eat another bite. I started a touch tunes account and played some of my favorite songs while watching Several different things on TV. Glad I went tonight. No dishes!

Usually a great place to eat, today seems to be a different story. So far we waited about 10 min to get some water. Twenty minutes after we arrived, I wrestled down the waitress asking if she could take our order and was met with major attitude. She actually snapped at me. This is lunch, people don't have for ever. I'm a regular here, but I may have to change that now. The food is still great, but I am miffed.

I lived about 3 miles from this place for over 10 years. I moved away and ended up dropping in to meet people. i have to say it looks much better on the outside than it did a while back. The food was really good-- and everyone had something different amongst about 9 of us. The only drawback was staffing. Our waitress had the entire dining room and no back up from the bartender. Brittany did everything to keep up with the entire room- but she could have used help somewhere. Bartender was not leaving behind the bar to help even with the tables in the bar. So our waitress had them and the family dining area. If they could get their staffing sorted out or a better bartender .... I would seriously consider going back.

Shady bartender tries to say in 45 min my wife drinks 64 oz of vodka soda. Meanwhile my tab has only 3 shots of fireball which I had not even finished. This place has always been awful.

Hole in the wall lunch! My work team goes to lunch together once a month. We're committed to avoid the chains and stick with random mom and pop establishments. We're so passionate we've created a long list of places that lead to a monthly vote. Big Daddy's won this month and so the trip for lunch took place. Off of Meridian Big Daddy's Bar & Grill is a place that reminds me of my college days. It's a good place to huddle up to the bar with your bros and watch a game and drink a beer. It's a large bar area with a smaller dining room. So if you have kids it may be difficult to get a table- keep it in mind. We arrived just after noon and the place was PACKED! Good sign that I was in for a great lunch. The menu is huge with a variety of sandwiches, pizzas, salads, apps, pasta. You name it and it's probably on the menu. I was tempted by so many things, but went for the chicken nachos. I know it's a boring choice, but had a craving for them. I guess it was the homemade chili that got me. And- they were really good. Service was great. I was concerned at first because of the crowd, but no misses here. She even offered us separate checks. Very much appreciated especially knowing that it's more work for the server. Would I go back? Yes. Would I go back with my family? Probably not because it's not a place for kids and the dining room is really small. Regardless it's a great place with a hometown feel, comfy food, and a spacious bar to kick back and let the stress go.

Great local bar, food is awesome. Very nice inside. Sometimes gets a little clique if you aren't a regular but wait staff is decent and reasonable alcohol prices. One of the best sports bars on the old Southside. Try the stew if you go there.

Great neighborhood bar. Awesome food, good service and fanatic prices. The food is so good and a great value. Their portions are huge!

The food was good @ reasonable prices & the waitress (Jessica) was very friendly. The only downside was that even though they were fairly busy, they only had 1 bartender & 1 extremely busy waitress. She did a great job considering they could have used at least 1 more waitress.

The staff is pretty nice, but they are not to keen on making drinks. When we went in they had specials on seasonal drinks, but nobody knew how to make them. They food was pretty good, but prepare for a wait.

I went here for lunch with some co-workers recently and Big Daddy's was on the struggle bus. We went for lunch on a Friday around 11:30 but found seats right away. The restaurant was full, but I would have expected that since it is so close to Lilly. By the way, if you're a vegetarian, prepare yourself for a veggie quesadilla and a side salad. Those are basically your options. I would have preferred at least a couple items to choose from, but I can't say I didn't expect the sort of American grease ball menu they have. We received drinks quickly and placed orders, then the problems began. We waited and waited and finally two of our six orders came out. One had the wrong side. The waitress didn't stick around to ask how things were. About 5 minutes later I got my side salad. The other three in our group didn't have anything. The waitress kept telling me how backed up the kitchen was and that she was so sorry, etc. I think they should have been more prepared for lunch on a Friday. We kept running low on drinks too. After about 10 more minutes the rest of the food came out and we were all able to eat. By that time though the original entrees were kind of cold and we had to rush out to be back to work on time. Overall not a great menu, not a great experience, and not a place I'm excited to return to anytime soon.

Oh, Big Daddy's, I just cain't get enuff of you! I really like yer dang menu. You know how I love them fried chicken livers and yers are mmmm mmmm good! And, Polish Mistakes, my gawd you never see them on a menu anywheres. My momma used to make them all the time when I was a sweet little girl. Yer burgers and hot wangs and pizza pies are really good, too. And, what makes me happier than a pig in shi.......uh, mud, is yer POT ROAST NACHOS. Words cain't explain. But, I know Taco Hell cain't hold a candle to those. And, Big Daddy's, I don't like to spend a lot of my hard-earned cash on beer & liquor so yer daily drink specials really help out the ol' pocketbook. One dang dollar for long neck beer on Mondays and draft beer on Tuesdays? Criminy, yer just about giving it away. Also, I like when folks play that fancy jukebox of yers - Touchtunes - but, boy do they play it loud! I gotta get my drunk ears on before I really enjoy it. Yer place is always so clean & tidy which sure is a nice change from my trailer. And yer employees have always been super-duper friendly and I 'preciate that. You don't get nice chit-chat and helpful service from them snooty folk at those schmancy places out there. I'm gonna keep comin' back and visiting with you, Big Daddy's. You've been treating me real good. And, I gotta try that breaded tenderloin. It's bigger than my Uncle Lou Gene's head. No lie. I love you, Big Daddy's.

I like this place. That being said it took 45 minutes to turn in my dinner order and here we still sit now an hour and a half in with no food. Not even our salads. This is awful. We will never be back!

This bar is awesome. Every Wednesday they host what my friends and I call wingsday. .30 cent wings in quantities of five. The staff is great with exception to one older lady who seems to always have a bug up her butt. She is always rude until it comes time for the check. All their sandwiches are worth a try. I enjoy most. Fried pickles are great! They have nice drink specials throughout the week. Also they have a family dining section until 10pm for everyone's convenience. Stop In and eat!
