Old Country Buffet was the buffet of choice when I was a teenager. This location is huge and was easily able to accommodate our large party. We stayed over 3 hours having a great time with family I haven't seen in years. They have one of the best salad bars around and the way they designed the food islands make it easy to refill your plate without standing in a long line. It was not my choice to eat here, but I'm glad we did. There was something for everyone and our server did a wonderful job considering the size of our group! Thanks OCB! Yelp100[63]

We just went for dinner. Will never go again the restaurant was filthy, water all over bathroom floor, pepper shaker filthy and greasy, napkin hold looked like hasn't been cleaned for a long time. Plate of spaghetti on floor and workers just walking past, plastic was in the stuffing and manager was rude and uncaring

It has been a number of years since I had been to a buffet. The last time that I may have been here is about 7 years ago. I remember it as being a much cleaner place with a better food selection. I visited most recently today on August 9th. Of course, it was a Sunday evening and was pretty busy. The food selection was "bleh" with not much of a meat selection. Mostly a variety of cheaper carbohydrates and fats. Not much in the selection of vegetables, either. The window ledges were very dusty and so were the napkin holders. Lots of obese people sitting around. Tables of people clapping and making noises. I didn't visit the lavatories so I cannot comment on them. I believe that I know where the ex-clientele of Golden Corral have moved on to, if you know what I mean....I won't be coming back to Old Country Buffet anytime soon.

I used to dine at this location once a month or so, as my mom loved the salad bar. The food was never out of this world, but it was good, so I would go with her. We went there shortly after a stir fry type station was added and it was during dinner and there was never an attendant in there for longer than 25 minutes. And I saw that same employee pushing a broom and cleaning up, all while wearing the same pair of gloves. Not only that, but he never switched to a new pan while cooking for different people. Well, after seeing that, we did not go back for quite some time. I was there with a friend about two months ago and my experience with the food was much better. That being said, the bathrooms were a disgrace. It makes me wonder how often employees go in there and check to make sure things are taken care of properly. All in all, it won't be a spot we frequent, but we will still dine there once in a while.

Buffets are an interesting restaurant category due to the fact that perceived food quality is directly affected by the look of the people sharing it with you. That said, after several trips here, I have never been grossed-out by the other diners at this place...though I don't usually feel good about myself when leaving OCB. Hence, I won't even complain about their monotonous menu because it keeps me from coming back more frequently to load up on fairly decent fried chicken and sirloin steak. I like that the staff here is always polite and everything is generally kept clean. They even offer a nice assortment of condiments (including Cavender's all-purpose Greek seasoning!) and generously-sized napkins. All-in-all there are much worse ways to spend $12, like buying a pair of those spikey shoes for aerating your lawn or bringing a blind kid to a magic show.

Well, all old country buffets are the same really! I remember when old country buffet WAS old country buffet years ago when the food was good/plenty with a whole bunch of different varieties. The breakfast was outstanding and good. The lunch and dinner was to awesome. Then not to long ago the corporation decided to do "Not to smart buisness" by lowering the price for breakfast to 5 dollars and dinner 10. Then they excluded the drinks in the price which was a bad idea in the long run. Well, after the change their was NO VARIETY anymore. It was the basic/tasteless food items you would find at the hospital cafeteria. After the change don't eat here much anymore. If I do a buffet it's going to be at a casino.

Of all the "open food" buffets there are out there, this is my third favorite. It's clean, the staff is very courteous, and even at its busiest of times there is a nice flow of things. You won't spend that much time waiting on a particular food item. Everything is constantly being wiped down, picked up, and under a constant eye by all the employees. The only complaints I have (which I reported and was handled immediately) was that I witnessed an employee leave a bathroom stall and exit the washroom without washing his hands. When I exited the washroom (after I washed my hands), I noticed that same employee handling items by the sundae bar. Complaint #2: Hard to find a clean table when the place is busy, but that's easy to solve - just ask. It's amazing what you can have done when you speak up. Complaint #3: Food temperature I find questionable. The chilled food isn't really chilly, and the hot food is just a little warm. My immune system is higher than most, but I can believe it if I heard someone got sick from the food there. All-in-all; it's a buffet people.

I love buffets! I consider them a challenge to eat everything and anything under the sun. This place smells like a retirement community and the health practices of the employees are more than questionable. My friend and i were getting up to try the food when a employee was pushed up against the mirrored wall with a fresh batch of food. He stood there for more than a minute holding the food at hip level. It seemed very odd and when he turned around and finally put the food in its place he cleaned the surrounding area and pushed the food on the buffet into the new pan. ARE YOU SERIOUS? We avoided anything he proceeded to touch. The tables are sticky and the carpets can only be summarized as disgusting! The food is American style but very bland. Everything needs salt, seasonings and a cook who knows what they are doing. I left still feeling hungry. What a disappointment. We left vowing we would never step a foot into this establishment(seems too kind to use that word for this place)

ABSOLUTE NASTINESS. I went here with my parents, this was def my last time. Hair in the tartar sauce, hair in the cream of broccoli soup. The manager did replace them, but wish I was offered a meal refund. This place is totally expensive as hell for food that rats would throw up. The only thing good here is the icees, which are usually out of order, and some of the deserts, as well as the coffee. Might as well spend your money somewhere worth it in this area. If you want a lot of food and are super hungry I suggest El Amigo or maybe Chipotle. Please do NOT waste your money on this place. Also I like how all the coupons I get for OCB are so damn useless, it's still like you are paying full price. Screw this dump!

As a chubby guy, I want to say that this place rocks. I want to tell you that the food is delicious, that the place is flawlessly clean, and that the price is so low that you'll feel like you robbed the place. Sadly, if I said any of that, I'd be lying my ass off. I noticed that Tonya B. said that she'd hurt herself eating here. I can attest that she speaks the truth. The food at this place will, more often than not, beat your gastrointestinal tract up like a UFC fighter. It's a great place to go if you want to spend some quality time with your toilet, however. In terms of cleanliness, the place wins no awards but isn't exceptionally bad. My main gripe is that it can get hard to find a clean table, especially during the dinner rush. The food selection is sub-par, and what is there is often not good anyway. They change up different dishes on different days, but most of the assortment remains the same through the week. Also, this is typically a given at any buffet, but I feel I must state it: NEVER, NEVER, NEVEREVEREVER eat the seafood. It is typically semi-cold and an instant route to Tummyache Falls, population: you. If you DO, for some crazy reason, decide to patronize this establishment, the price is a bit of a sticking point (with one nice loophole). I don't know the exact amounts at this moment, but from my best recollection, lunch will run you somewhere near 7 or 8 dollars, while dinner hits for around 10. However, if you sign up for the Old Country Buffet e-mail club, they will send you a coupon that allows you to get one free meal when you pay for another one. This coupon has no barcode on it, and only has your name, some information, and an expiration date. It is entirely within reason for you to copy this coupon and use them as much as you want until the expiration date. The managers and employees at the place know what they are and will give you the deal without blinking. So in closing, I warn you against going here. Buffets are more often than not a losing affair, and this place only serves to reinforce that maxim. If you're going to pay $10 for dinner, you may as well suck it up and go to a sit-down place where, if the food is bad, you can at least send it back or get a refund.

I will say that this OCB is better than most that is closer to the inner city. I hate to admit it but they are a little better than the Golden Corral just south of OCB. For a Tuesday night, it wasn't too bad. Not a problem finding a seat, the food selection was adequate and not to crowded. However they need to train the chefs/cook to make the food more tasteful. I know they cant do too much flavoring with seasons because of people with dietary restrictions, however the food will sit on the stands if improvements aren't made soon. The management is friendly and the wait staff is available and quickly removes dirty dishes and utensils from your table.

I hate buffet style restaurants. I've been dragged here by my Nana, as well as to other buffets, on more than one occasion. I loved Shakey's Pizza as a kid, but as soon as I was old enough to understand the meaning of the word sanitation buffets were out for me....except for the one at the New Moon in Merrilville because I knew the managers & staff. Buffets have multiple people touching tongs or just pawing the food...especially snot nosed kids, pushy rude people, generally crappy food & more bacteria than you can shake a stick at. The only way I'd recommend a buffet is if it's for a food that you have never tried before...Indian, Ethiopian, etc. & even then, you are in danger of e coli infections. Good luck.

It gets pretty crowded, but the food is pretty worth it. Its a pretty awesome place with a nice plethora of delectable items. You can get Pizza, Meatloaf, Macaroni and Cheese, Vegetables, and Pudding all on the same plate. Now how many places can you do something as awesome as that? Not many, I'm sure.
