I have not been impressed with Buca the last 2 times I have been there. The portion sizes are great for engaging in family style dining, but the over-all food quality is less than desirable. In my most recent visit we ordered caesar salad (always delicious - and vegetarian friendly. They do not put anchovies in their dressing.) Cheese bread and spaghetti with meatballs, an Italian classic that turned out to be rather disappointing. I have had better spaghetti from Fazoli's. My noodles were swimming in grease and there just wasn't much flavor and spices; very bland. The previous time I visited my boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Basilica and was not impressed. The wait staff was great, but the chicken in the penne was gamey. I am disappointed - over the years I feel that their quality of food has gone downhill.

Worst dining experience of my life! Overpriced nasty gross Italian food and not to mention our food was burnt and management would do nothing to fix the problem.

Went with a large group this weekend. Service was good, food was good, nothing really to complain about. This is a great option for groups if youre in to the family style thing. Definitely always enough food to go around! Not the healthiest option out there, but there are some items on the menu for those that are watching their waistline. If you're looking for Italian food and a place big enough to accommodate a large group, Buca is the place.

The Bruschetta was subpar, the tomatoes tasted like they came from their can, basil was lacking, onion chunks were bigger than the cheese. $14.99 is way too expensive for such a bland waste of food. The Prosciutto Stuff Chicken, should actually have a taste of prosciutto in it, in addition, $24(!) Are you fricking kidding me?! Buca is nothing but Olive Garden served family style, there's nothing special about you. We make better Italian meals at home, never coming back again. I think the only reason we heard such good things about Buca is due to the obnoxious crap all over the walls creating a "fun" atmosphere. Are you Friday's or are you Olive Garden? No, you're Buca because of your over pricing, that's all that makes you stand out. To improve, they need better quality of food, plain and simple. Anyone who truly comes back because they feel the food is so great is because they don't know how to cook.

This place is the best , been here about four times and every time better than the first, when you enter, they walk you through the kitchen , then take you to your seat, the menu is a little on the high side, but the food is well worth it.always served hot, and comes as a platter that you dish out your selves like a family meal at an Italian dinner table at home. If it's your first trip , let them know about it, when we went for the first time, they gave us one entree at no charge just to get us to come back.

Had the gnocchi here and it was scrum! I recommend this location for larger groups. Not a fan of paying a bucketload for some noodles, but at least they give you options. love the atmosphere...dark, classy, and dirty (in a good way)

Love this restaurant! Great southern Italian food and a decent price. My family really enjoys the homestyle feel and the wine is always a plus. Kids menu could be a bit better but otherwise, no complaints.

One of my favorite places to go in Greenwood! Get on the EClub e-mail list before you go, because they frequently issue great coupons ($10 off a $20 purchase is generous to me, and I'm pretty frugal). In my experience, they have also taken multiple coupons in one meal, leading to us saving upwards of $20 in a single visit on huge portions of food (which made great leftovers for the week, I might add)! Definitely get on the mailing list the month before your birthday, because you will get a free dessert coupon, and the desserts are huge and generally delicious. Growing up in a Southern Italian family, I really enjoy the olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip served with the bread, but I really think they should serve the bread warm like Carrabba's generally does (and leave the oil and balsamic vinegar on the table instead of taking it away!). The service I've had at this location has always been good, and my husband and I have been eating here on and off for at least 7 years. The only drawback is that the restaurant is organized into a series of smaller rooms (like all Buca locations), and you may get stuck seated with a large, loud party. However, the restaurant is a good place to bring groups and generally a great place to go with friends or on a date. My husband and I always come prepared to take food home with us!

Bucca. I love me some Bucca... For those of us who aren't familiar with Bucca, it's a family style chain Italian restaurant. The portions are HUGE, serving 2-4 people, on average. The interior of most Bucca restaurants (so far as I'm aware; I've only been in three) are really cozy. They definitely are going for the feel of an old style Italian place... The decor is eclectic and there are photos on all of the walls. Some of the prints are really amusing, and looking at them is kind of fun. (My favorite one at this location is a SUPER large print from the late 50s or early 60s... It shows three women and they are eating spaghetti with no utensils, just their faces... Like a spaghetti eating contest!) I digress. One kinda weird thing they enjoy doing is walking your party through the kitchen as they take you to your table. I suppose they want you to see where your food is coming from, and all that, but I think it's bizarre and unsanitary. I don't want whooping cough because they want to be gimmicky. (Though honestly, I don't want to get whopping cough for any reason.) And now! The food. My favorite dishes at Bucca include the Chicken Saltimbocca and the Apple Gorgonzola salad. Their meatballs are also delicious and moist. (I'm certain that I could eat the lemon butter/caper sauce that comes on the chicken ALLLLL the time and never get tired of it!) The staff is generally pretty nice, though they do that douche-y stuff that some waiters/waitresses at certain chain restaurants do... Like coming to the table and asking, "Is everything delicious?" That phrase makes me want to stab people, incidentally. I digress AGAIN. My husband and I also love to get take out from this place... and then I eat the leftovers for lunch the next day. They are always really nice, and the food is packaged well. We often get the aforementioned salad, and they package the dressing separately, rather than tossing it beforehand and letting it wilt before we get home. They also have the curbside-to-go thing and so they bring it out to the car and such... making pajama runs to Bucca totally doable. This place is great... especially for a small group of friends (though they can definitely accommodate larger groups)! I definitely recommend giving it a shot. **I should note, however, that my husband feels this place is a bit expensive for what it is (i.e. chain Italian food). I tend to agree with him, honestly... You do get a lot of food, and some of their items are pretty reasonable, but the Chicken Saltimbocca (which I LOVE) is pretty expensive.

Buca Di Beppo is what Italian is all about. No more of the highly expensive overly generic italian joints with skimpy portions and high prices. Italian restaruants are also great but some try to play it too romantic which makes it ackward to go with a bud or the guys. The main highlight of this place is that it offers big portion family style food at very reasonable prices, good fun, tons of italian nostalgia on walls and good music. Very friendly cheery staff and excellent wait time. Food was ready in about 10 mins. VERY generous portions enough for a couple or even large families. Dont come in here expecting to get a medium sized dish.. NO my friend nothing but real authentic italian portions, the way it should be. Very nice for family dinning aswell as a fun first date or casual dinner.. Fits all occassions. Try it now! by the way if you suffer from bad breath, visit tonsilcleaner.com to learn more visit our breath forums.

The food was plentiful and delicious. House bread was ok but the best part was the white sangria with moscato!

This is an okay place and I'd say it's 3.5 stars. Appetizer sampler was good, but not exceptional. Bread is extra. All bread. At an Italian joint. The giant meatballs, while they look impressive, are not awesome. They aren't super flavorful and there's no delicious crispy exterior. It's kind of like a meatloaf. It wasn't heavily sauced and the server offered more, which was necessary. It took a minute because she said they had to "heat up another bag." That was odd. Some kind of spicy chicken rigatoni was good. The pasta was a lil overcooked. Dessert was yummy. Service was good.

I love the Pope room! Recently my book club went here and they were super accommodating! We got a big ol' room all to ourselves, stellar service, and amazing food. They were even able to split up all the food equally between us so it was actually pretty cheap! I got a mojito, apple pecan salad, bread, vegetable lasagna, AND cheese ravioli for under $20. And it wasn't tiny portions. It was a lot of food! Great for groups or dates, but obviously don't come here by yourself unless you want lots of leftovers. They're smallest serving feeds 2 to 3 people so bring a friend with similar taste buds.

Mo was our server and her expertise made this experience grand. We had family from all over the country together for a birthday, and she doted on each us like no one else was there. We came with coupons in hand and she found a way to follow protocol and allow us to use the coupons. The kids were able to order exactly what they wanted and were stoked they could drink root beer (not in a bottle) without all the additional charges. The food was superb, the singing was brief, and we left full. What more can you ask for?

Ate here last night for my birthday, and we were pretty disappointed in the food. I don't know if there is a new chef or new management, but we noticed a significant decrease in the quality of food. Not sure that we will be back.

I have heard many great things about this place so when I was on that side of town I stopped in with my fiance and another couple. This was my first time here however I had made myself familiar with the menu and items online. I have been to olive garden, Maggianos, fine family Italian places as well as fazoles, cici's pizza for pasta places as such too. I was so excited we ordered the seafood special with clams, mussles, shrimp in a robust Tomato sauce over linguine for us, and calamari. The descriptions of the food were as fake as could be! The pasta was undercooked and the sauce was bland like as if someone went to buy canned sauce from Walmart brand not even ragu or prego those would have tasted better, the shrimp had an off taste, the mussels were great but I wanted more then mussels for dinner, the calamari was such a small portion for two it didn't even match the platter in the menu it was to be brought out on. We waited 2 hrs just to get our fried calamari and drinks, we had 2 refills in the almost three full hours we were here. So when the food arrived being as hungry as we were you would think it would taste amazing either way. WRONG we ate a few bites and took it to go. We stopped at fazoles and ate there and we're shocked fast food tasted better then what had been served. We contacted the manager and told them of our waitress and food and asked for a refund. It took week but they gave a full refund and option to come back that we passed on. The interior was very cool but the carpet was old, torn and dirty, the walkway where the carpet ends and the tile to where the restrooms begins was sticky very gross to walk on. I was deffinately shocked that a place renown for this type of food was that bad. Based on this sole experience and location i will not try another location or even bother to explain to other people. When people ask me i say I have been, it's different and at your own risk of adventure try if you like, but I don't recommend when there are many more places a better value for your money, time , and atmosphere.

Everyone is obsessed with this place and while it is very nice, I haven't had any super delicious food. I suppose it can be affordable since the dishes come out as meals to be shared. FOr example, spaghetti for two people is $20 and the portions are large enough that it could easily feed 3 people. The spaghetti sauce has a slightly sweet taste to it but still tasty. The meatballs are giant!! But I prefer spaghetti sauce that is thick so to me it is nothing special. Do be sure to request extra sauce. The garlic cheese bread as an appetizer is tasty but even a small basket requires probably 4 or more people to eat. I sampled a couple other chicken dishes and it was all solid, but overall the place is rather pricey. However, I think folks like it for the walls that are decorated inch by inch with pictures and how the restaurant is signed for large groups. Perhaps I need to try more complex dishes to truly see if I like this place. I'd go back, but usually with a groupon or generous human :)

Large portions and family style is how the food is served here. Tastes as expected, not greatest, but not bad. Service was OK, just average. My friend loves the Mojito drinks here. The red sauce was a bit bland. Prices are as expected, bit high, but the crazy wall covered decor makes up for that i suppose, ha.

I love buca! I love the portions and I love the food. We live in downtown Indianapolis and went there first before going here. They were completely booked on a weds at 6 pm and said they couldn't take reservation til 8 pm. I guess it was busy because the fireman convention, but golly I wasn't gonna wait, so we were like lets go to greenwood. It was a 15-20 min drive, but worth it. Didn't have the to wait to be seated. Of course walking in it's like walking into a time capsule. Vintage pictures all over the wall. Service was quick and easy. Love me some carby bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip. It was the two of us, and out comes these two big bowl of pasta. Hello leftover for lunch! The shrimp florentine is yummy good with garlicy butterness and we ordered the spaghetti meatballs and substitute with vodka rosa sauce. Yummy!!! And those meatballs!!! The size of baseballs! Overall great experience and great food. I probably would choose to drive further to eat here even though i live in downtown indy, but finding parking there can be a pain.

I came in and nobody was at the hostess podium so I just went to the bar. Sat down and waited 10 minutes and I saw nobody that worked here. I went looking for someone and finally saw someone in the dining room and I told them I'm at the bar. I ordered wine had a few sips and accidentally spilled it. The bar is only a foot wide then there is a lip. The menus are longer than the bar is wide so it hides the lip. I set my glass on the lip and it tipped over. The manager refused to get me another glass and refuse to take it off my bill stating that it's against the law. Other than that awful experience the food was great. I'm just pissed I wasted ten dollars

What has happened to this place. We use to enjoy going here. Got the veil parmigiana, should have been called cube steak parmigiana. It was so tough my wife would not eat it. garlic bread tasted like it was frozen. Now lets get to the fun part. Our bill was $118.74, we had gift cards and coupon for $110.28. Our bill came back that we still owned $ 33.25. How in the world does that happen. So we asked our dingbat waitress and she said she did not know. So she was gone for 20 minutes and came back and said one of our $50.00 gift cards only took $25.00 off the first time they swiped it. But they swiped it again (after we asked about bill) and surprise. Another $25.00 came off No explanation, no manger coming out and explain how a gift cards only deducted $25.00 on first swipe, but took another $25.00 off on next swipe. I personally feel that the waitress was trying to rip us off and we caught it. So here you go Bucca, we will never come back. We have had birthday parties there, graduation party there. But never again.

My boyfriend and I ordered a large Lasagna tonight, as a to-go order, and it was sized perfect and the taste was fantastic! I really love how their amazing (imported) tomato-based layer just bursts into my mouth with so much good flavor! I think it's perfect, because it's not oily in appearance or soupy. Definitely worth the $30 every single time. I also love how the delicate taste of the four-cheese ricotta layer is so fluffy, light, and so easy to love in each bite. While the beef is the worst component with the least seasonings, I believe it's forgivable.

Let me start off by saying that I understand the risks of going out to dinner on Valentine's Day. But the lobby of Bucas was the craziest thing I have seen in a long time. It was so packed with people that nobody was going in and nobody was getting out. It was a claustrophobic nightmare. When we finally made it through the sea of people to check in for our reservation at 6:45, the bewildered hostess told me it was going to be awhile. We decided to wait it out. Thirty minutes later, being involuntarily groped and bumped around in the too small space, we heard our name being called and we pushed our way to the table. I do have to hand it to the hostesses who all remained calm and friendly. I'm sure they took some verbal abuse at some point from some angry people in what felt like the smallest crowded elevator of a front lobby. Once we got out of that hellish space, everything was wonderful. Our server was fantastic, food was great, sangria yummy. We had the shrimp diavolo, ravioli, caprese, and cheesy garlic bread. Everything was cooked to perfection and of course we have enough food leftover for the next two days. And despite the fact that we knew that they were desperate for empty tables to seat the angry mob at the front, we never felt rushed through dinner.

Loved it. The portion size for calamari is a bit small, but Linguine Frutti di Mare (small family size, which can serve 2-3 people) was definitely good and tasty. Used Groupon, and the two dishes cost $39 tips included. Service was good. $49 would be a bit pricey for the food, but $39 is still worth it.

This was our last time dining at Buca di Beppo's. We arrived for dinner on a slow Thursday night and noticed there were only four tables in the whole restaurant at 6:30. We asked for a table for 4 adults and 2 children and were escorted to the last table in the corner in the back against the wall. I was shocked and told our host we would like a round table and he agreed. My husband sat down and almost fell to the floor because the back of the chair was completely unattached and broke. Our waiter was bland and seemed like he would rather be anywhere but there. He mumbled and never smiled. He didn't bring waters until someone asked and while he was patient with the table taking their time to decide on food items he wasn't taking good notes because only half of us got our food. WE asked where our other two pasta dishes were (the men were just sitting there not eating) and our waiter told us we hadn't ordered anything else. We all disagreed and he told us it would be right up - meaning 20 minutes while half of us ate. I wished our waiter had recited back our items for clarity to avoid this problem. We were told we would be getting dessert for the our inconvenience. When we ordered dessert our waiter said - ONLY ONE DESSERT is on the house for all 6 of us. AT least they could have provided a dessert to each of the men who waited for their food. We asked if the one dessert was lemony and our waiter mumbled, "I don't know." and left. I suggested the restaurant for our guests who have never eaten at a Buca and who by the way are full blood Italian and speak it. The bill for the two of us was $93 and I kept thinking of all the choices I have in Indianapolis that I could have spent less and had more fun.

Went here for the first time for my cousins birthday dinner. It was a little pricey for my dinner. But they give you a lot of food. The desert Tiramisu was wonderful. I wouldn't mine going back again. I understand the wall switch in the women's bathroom if very unique. The service was really great as well. But I am afraid I will have to reserve this place for special occasions.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
