Ate here for lunch while in town on business. I walked in and sat at the bar. At first I thought the time it took for someone to greet and serve me could have been improved but then the most peculiar thing happened. The waitress came over and asked me my name, I told it to her to which she replied I am so and so. A few moments later the manager came out with my cup of soup and said "Here you are Chelsey". The food was good but this simple act of knowing their customer made my day!

This Wolfie's Grill is one of three Central Indiana locations of Wolfie's, with all of them being located in Hamilton County (Fishers, Carmel, and Noblesville). I'd driven by Wolfie's a few times as it's pretty conveniently located across from Heartland Church off right at I-69 and 96th Street. I haven't been to the other locations, but this location is set up in a rather small building that has a lodge like feeling to it with a warm, woodsy decor. As this is a bar & grill, you must be 21 to enter and as you enter you get the dining area to the left and the well equipped bar just to the right. It's a small, but beautiful establishment with an outdoor patio that would be a delight during warmer weather. They have two accessible parking spots, though it should be noted that these are not legally enforceable because they only have the symbol on the pavement. That said, they do have the blue-striped area and were quite workable. There's also a nice curb cut into the establishment and Wolfie's is situated in a way that should be easily accommodating to those with mobility issues. It was obvious as I arrived that they were setting up for some type of party/event and about half of Wolfie's had been informally reserved for this party with decorations on the wall and tables. Because it was mid-afternoon, I was still able to pretty much choose a spot and had a nice table right next to their patio area. Wolfie's offers a fairly diverse menu with appetizers, soups, Blue Ridge Burgers (including both angus and bison), sandwiches, and wraps. They also offer gluten free options, though their online menu does include a disclaimer essentially saying "We can't guarantee it's gluten free." I ordered a bison burger with fries for $10.49 - bison is supposed to be a healthier beef and I'd never actually tried it before. Of course, I also ordered my usual unsweetened tea. The food and iced tea were delivered in a timely manner. My server, Hannah, was a good server but she seemed distracted. I'm not sure if she was helping out with the party, but it seemed like there were staff everywhere and yet it almost seemed like they were thrown off having a customer come in. That said, she got the basics done quite nicely and I did get an iced tea refill. It just kind of lacked the warmth that makes you want to go back. The food? The bison burger was good. I ordered it medium well and it was delivered medium well. The burger was juicy and filling without a lot of heaviness. The bun was a tad disappointing - lightly toasted but rather bland. The french fries? It was a small, disappointing order as they were maybe a notch higher than shoestring with nothing distinct about them. I don't often notice this, but I also couldn't help but think that it was all presented very plainly. Presentation matters when you're delivering food and this plate was about half empty - I kept thinking to myself "Why make it obvious that your serving size is smaller even on a smaller plate?" It wasn't bad, but the first thing you do when you get a plate on your table is look at it. You shouldn't think "disappointing" before you've had a chance to take a bite. The entire meal came in at just under $15.00. You could easily spend more here and this was definitely on the low end. Wolfie's has a nice alcohol menu including local options. They have daily specials including weekends. I didn't dislike Wolfie's, but I found it underwhelming. My inclination is to revisit, hopefully at a time when there's not a party going on and I can get a real sense of the place and the service. However, I have to ultimately rate on the basis of what I experienced and that leaves me with a good bison burger (but not great), disappointing fries, competent but not exactly warm/inviting service (and it constantly felt a bit off in terms of timing). I was checked in by another couple of folks during my stay, but I felt more served than actually welcomed. 5 star? Not a chance. 4 star? That can't happen with disappointing fries and distracted service. I honestly contemplated a 2 star, but I did get my always desired refill and the bison burger was good. Plus, they do have a nice curb cut and I truly didn't experience anything negative. 3 Star feels right. I had a slightly above average experience, but it was slightly lower than one would expect in this type of setting and in this price bracket. I will, in all likelihood, return but I definitely won't be in a rush to do so.

My first Wolfie's experience was the result of the persuasion of some friends to get me out. It's close proximity to my apartment added to the appeal. I was immediately won over by the fact that you can get a gin and tonic for $3.50. Have I mentioned 1. How much I love gin and tonics and 2. How much I love cheap drinks? Well Wolfie's sufficiently won my liver over. My second visit consisted of more liver love... Followed by a bowl of deliciously warm and gooey Mac and cheese! I love cheese, almost as much as I love cheap drinks, and Wolfie's brought it in the game of Mac and cheese. The only thing keeping me from more stars is that I haven't had anything else to eat, so I don't know if I simply had a one hit wonder... As well as not being entirely in love with the overall feel of the place. I can't put my finger on what's keeping me from putting a ring on Wolfie's but as soon as I find out I'll be sure to let you know.

2 things 1-Best place to watch a Bears game outside of Soldier's Field. 2-Best wings in Indy and I am a wing snob. Go with their dry-rub.

Asked if I could get the prime rib "rare" and told yes. It was barely pink toward the center. My friend ordered a "rare" bison burger. Same thing, barely pink in the center. We were quite hungry and having to send both entries back is not acceptable. First visit. Last visit. There are many other restaurants in the area.

The staff at wolfies has a positive demeanor and are quick to help with whatever you need. They can handle a playoff game like a champ. Say hello to Shannon if you stop by.

Pleasantly surprised! We had the dry rub wings, seared tuna and the grilled cheese n tomato soup...everything was great, including the service. Warren was funny & attentive but not overbearing! The other servers and manager were actively helping out! We will definitely be back! Great job!

Not all that impressed , either with atmosphere, staff was dull, almost unkind. Food was boring, and definitely not a value. Poorly lit parking lot. Drinks were pricey. Sorry but just wish I could say more favorable things, but that would be deceptive. Just made me think they were doing me a favor.

Really enjoyed the ribs...and this is coming from someone who attends a couple of BBQ festivals each year. I would have liked to score higher, but the waitress didn't check in that often, and was rushed when she did stop at the table. It appeared they were a person or two short with the wait staff.

  • Gary D.

Stopped for a late lunch at 4pm. Waitstaff seemed like we were bothering them by being there, much less asking questions about the menu. Boring easy to forget food that is mostly out of a can or package and heated then brought to the table. This would be a great place for a beer and a game, but not much else. I won't be coming back the next time I am in town for work.

Stopped in to watch a basketball game the other night. We were looking for a table with a good view of a TV, and the creepy manager asked what we were doing. We said we wanted to watch the warriors game. Felt like we were uninvited guests at a party. We sat in the bar, and it took about 10 minutes for the bartender to come over. Terrible service and unfriendly. We ordered 3 beers, and waited forever for our ticket. Although I really enjoy wolfies on the lake, this one was terrible and I'll never go back.

I have been coming to this bar for over 6 years and visit multiple times a week. I have gotten to know many of the staff members and managers and couldn't be more pleased with their service. The beer selection is a microbrew drinkers friend and the bartenders know their stuff. I've eaten here when in a hurry or having dinner with my wife and have not ordered a single thing I was unsatisfied with. The dry-rub wings easily rank in my Top 3 in Indianapolis. One of my favorite aspects is the draw from the local hotels in the area during evening hours and the different business travelers that I have met over the years. This is your spot if you're looking for a sports friendly bar and great food.

I would have preferred to rank this restaurant as 3 1/2 stars but that was not an option. The staff was nice and after seeing me walk in to the establishment after traveling by foot from the hotel ( in the frigid 0 degree weather), they found a spot for my by the fire. That warmed me up nicely. There was a decent craft beer selection but I am not very particular. I chose a local craft beer on draft. The clam chowder was bland and not special. I am glad I only ordered a cup. The chowder was probably not worth all of the calories I consumes. The house salad consisted on iceberg lettuce, a few pieces of tomatoes and croutons. I did ask for my salad not to have onions or cheese. The vinaigrette was sweet and a little bit tangy. I will say that the fish and fries was above average. The fish was cooked just right and greasy. It is hard to find battered fish that doesn't taste like the oil it was cooked in. The fries were good as well. I would go back for the fish alone.

I wanted to like this place so badly. i really did. But I couldn't have left this place any quicker (actually I wanted to, but it took the waitress an hour to check up on us). There's two sides to the building. One side has a main entrance, and the other doesn't. You're forced to walk on to the patio and question "is this door actually an entrance or not". I walked right in and the gentlemen running the place seemed baffled that we were just standing there as if it weren't obvious we were looking for a place to sit down. Once my friends and I found a seat, a lovely waitress promptly asked us what we were having. I don't think she was rude or angry, but she certainly rubbed off that way. We all ordered a Sun King Cream Ale, which didn't quite taste like the Cream Ale we were used to. Right away we knew this place wasn't for us. Wolfie's has the atmosphere of a truck stop grill in the middle of the Northern Woods in Wisconsin. Except instead of being a place to watch the Packers, it's apparently "the place to be" to watch Chicago sports. My friends and I decided as soon as we were done with this one beer, we were out the door. We stayed for about an hour, but it would have been a much shorter visit if the Waitress actually came back to check up on us. For what it's worth, my friends regularly go to the Wolfie's Grill in Noblesville and say that it is very different and much more enjoyable. I understand that it's a grill that Chicago fans should want to go to, to watch the game, but on a Wednesday night with a half-empty dining area, It should have been a more relaxed atmosphere. I was shocked that it was okay for the only 2 Chicago (cubs) fans to be squealing so loudly (Literally squealing, I think they were making a joke about the other team being pigs). Last thing. The saloon style bathroom doors certainly add to the theme of the restaurant, but the doors shouldn't be so small that my girlfriend feels uncomfortable when she's in there. One Star. If I had food, It might have been good enough to be given two stars, But the place didn't stand a chance in having me stay long enough to want to order

came here on our way through town. Ate outside and had a nice experience. They have TV's so you can watch sports of local and high profile games. Good. They have a nice beer menu. The food is fine. We had good service too.

Wolfie's on 96th St. is like a 2nd home to me. I am in there all of the time. The food and drinks are really good but to me the staff makes the place. I am a bar guy and the bartenders (Danine, Trish, Rhonda and Angie) are the best. They make it so fun and feel like family to me. The wait staff is very friendly and fun. The management that I know (Alec, Beth, Steve and Greg) are great and keep the place running smooth. Good beer is rotating all of the time. If you want good food, drinks and a fun time with enjoyable people please visit this great place.

A friend and I had a great lunch here today. Loved the menu, the food was delicious and our waitress, Kerri, was friendly, fast and professional. It was our first visit and we hope to return soon!

Cozy spot with great food and awesome drinks. If your cabin living room could be a restaurant this would be it. Wolfie's is dead on with it's Den description. Don't forget about the patio and Sunday brunch. The bloody mary bar is hard to beat!

Wanting somewhere new to eat, my husband and I decided to give Wolfie's a chance. Walking in, they were not very busy and we were seated right away. About ten minutes later the place was packed. It seemed like there were quite a few regulars and the crowd was a bit older. The inside is quite small which made it cozy but with it being packed it was a little loud. Our service was attentive but not over bearing. The decor is lodge-like with lots of warm woods and darker colors. For dinner, I ordered the Alpine wrap with fires and the hubby ordered the Grilled ham and cheese with tomato soup. The wrap was delicious. Grilled chicken, corn, black beans, tortilla strips, salsa and ranch dressing. The fries were crispy and seasoned nicely. I can only assume that my husband enjoyed his dinner seeing as he scarfed it down in record time! Will this place be a regular stop for us? Probably not, but food and service was still good and we will be back form time to time.

Wolfies is located close to work and has a nice patio. It's our 'go to' place for a Happy Hour with co-workers. There's nothing cheap about it. Usual pub fare and lodge style ambiance. I take it there are some regulars there, but it's a less than a warm and fuzzy vibe. Not a favorite.

It's a very comfortable nice place to eat. Service was good. Prices were reasonable. Food was not outstanding but very good for the price point. I would recommend it.

Cute decor. They kind of have a log cabin thing going on. Cozy for sure. Unfortunately I think we may have been our waiter's first "real" customers. He definitely was personable, but I don't need a "professional" friend. Just bring me my damn food, which he failed to do a few times, as if he just remembered that he had an actual job to do. Beer selection is decent; there's better in the city. We ordered a basket of fries. It was I think a kiddie size, even though they don't serve anyone under 21. We ordered some apps. Meh. Nothing to blow my mind. The food looked incredibly average. I think there are better bar food options in town. The service really turned me off.

Yeah for Wolfies! We stopped in here for a long-overdue lunch having just arrived to a nearby hotel from Cincinnati. The food was warm and filling. The fire was welcoming. I had my heart set on Three Floyd's by Gumball, which ran out while pouring my glass. The manager kindly offered three other options, along with samples! Very accommodating, and appreciated. I had the patty melt...comfort food at its best. The bleu cheese burger was reportedly quite tasty as well. This is a nice stop for some very decent food in a warm atmosphere with friendly service. What more do you need?

  • Erin Q.

Beware! Parking is limited! People were making up their own spots! I went here with a client last night and we were seated right away. Our waitress was prompt, but did not offer to tell us about any specials they were having. I ordered the patty melt and she did not ask how I wanted it done, luckily, it came well done, which is how I like it! The fries were hot and very salty. My client ordered the nachos and she said they were great and had plenty to take home. We each had a glass of wine and I asked about where the band plays as we are coming back in a week to see one. I think it was the manager, told us where they will set up, and he said he cannot reserve seats for big groups. We have upwards of 10 people coming. He suggested a time to get there so this will be continued!-So, we are not going to go b/c it is an acoustic show and the space is very limited!

First of all, moving here recently from the Chicago area, it was great accidentally stumbling into a Chicago bar! My boyfriend and I stopped here to grab a drink one time. The wait staff was friendly. A couple months later, we took our parents here when they were visiting. Our waitress was very kind and went out of her way to make sure everything was outstanding. They had the prime rib special, and everyone loved it. I ordered the mountain top pasta, which was pretty good! Not the most amazing pasta I have had, but I would order it again. My mom ordered a burger, and was disappointed. It came out overcooked. Otherwise, we were happy with everything!

I'm a big fan!!! This is the perfect date night compromise. It's a mix of sports bar and nice restaurant. It has log cabin decor and mood lighting. The tomato soup was the best ever. Definitely going to come back here when I'm in the area!

Really, I have to call it as I see it (or hear it). The fishwrap was less than great, but what really killed the deal was Shontelle blaring out Impossibo o-oh o-oh o-oh ole... Impossibo o-oh o-oh o-oh ole... Impossibo o-oh o-oh o-oh ole. The fireplace is still the bomb.

Been here a few times. First time 3 of us ordered the Reuben. All 3 of us were sick following that meal. I went back today and ordered the Cobb salad. Awful. ..simply awful. Cold rough burned chicken, basically all lettuce the rest of the toppings were skimpy. . Both of us ordered the salad on a business lunch. We will not return. Maybe a 1/4 of both meals was eaten and they didn't even care. Not even drink refills. I didn't rate this the first time I are there because I wanted to give it another chance. Well I did. Not recommended for food.

Wolfie's is really close to my office. I only seem to think of it in nice weather. It's a good place for (sshhh) an outdoor, 4 p.m. beer on a nice Friday afternoon. But, they have a pretty good lunch special M-F. $6.99 for a variety of dishes, including a drink. But, no substitutions ... my coworker ordered a tenderloin and it came with chips, so she couldn't get the fries we wanted. Oh well, she managed. If I remember correctly, there is a appetizer special. Like, I said, beer. They seem to be enclosing in the patio; it is partially finished so I'm not sure what the final product would be. Bottom line: I'm not going to drive from downtown to Fishers to go to Wolfie's, but during the week? Oh yes.

Never been here and staying at hotel across the street, took a chance. Wings were excellent! Go dry rub route. Service was spot on, very friendly. Place had good sized crowd and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Great atmosphere, but pretty mediocre service and food. My fish was drowning on sauce and my husband's ribs barely had any meat on them. They also gave me the wrong beer and when I went to the bartender (since the waitress barely came around) she was gruff and unkind. (Who uses the word gruff anymore? Eh, I felt it was fitting.) The Carmel Wolfie's is great. This one? I won't go back.

Traveling in Indy for business, and have come to Wolfie's three times this week... Had drinks and dinner at the bar! Great service from Ansley and Megan. Very personable and on the ball! I had the crabcake appetizer, tonight and loved it!! I wish there were a place like this where I live!!

One of my friends told me about this place so I decided to try it out. I was not disappointed at all. The waiter was very nice and talked with me for a while after he took my order. I'm not used to that great customer service!! I ordered the special which was the sirloin, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was wonderful, the mashed potatoes were creamy and good. The steak was done perfectly and the green beans had a nice flavor and a little heat as well! I will definitely head back to there a few times before I have to leave Indiana!!

This is a nice little pub on 96th St. that has some pretty killer, mouth-watering burgers. I tried the bacon burger while my boyfriend attempted the 2 half-pound patty Wolfie burger. They both were quite a lot to take in, but oh-so good! The service was very good, and the atmosphere was rustic and quite comfortable for a Friday evening. A guitarist was playing at the back of the room, which was the perfect addition to the atmosphere. There was an outdoor patio, but the night was a little chilly to be out there (though they still had lights on and tables out.) I certainly didn't mind the many TVs displaying sports games either! Overall, this is a great place to eat and chill. I'm sure I'll be back!

Found this place by accident. Its tucked in off a corner on 96th st and really just made a wrong turn last week and stumbled across it. A few of us stopped in last night and none were disappointed by what they ordered, the prices were fair and we walked in on Jazz night on the patio. The only downside was the numerous mosquito bites we suffered from being on the patio. Service was decent, Chris, our server, was busy, but always diligent about checking up on us. Check out the back of the menu for some GREAT summer specials that they offer daily, including Friday night $3 you call its! I will most deff be back to visit in the near future. I went hungry and had to keep myself from ordering 1/2 the menu! I suffer from my eyes are bigger then my tummy sometimes. The food is pub grub with a step up in taste and still avoids the Mass Ave snooty-ness some of the stepped up bar places offer. The crowd was a mix, I was in a group of late 20's and 30 somethings, most of the rest of the patio Jazz crowd seemed to be over 40ish. But all seemed to lean more to the side of working professionals.

First time there, I'd always been a little apprehensive about going there... but I was happy. I had the pulled pork and the wife had the tenderloin. Both were good size and tasted good. They do serve with their potato chips as a default which annoys me about restaurants, but they will gladly swap them out for you. Service was a little slow, but it was DEAD (saturday early afternoon), so they probably had to fire up the grill being as the people were with had a burger.

I have only eaten the mac and cheese here and it is ok. The beer is expensive for this type of place and the food is mediocre. It is close to where I work so I am sure I'll go back, but I would not go out of my way to visit this bar.

  • David L.

Good bar. Nice atmosphere, The food is nothing special. No better or worse than any of chain restaurants. One thing though, the seared tuna, I'd stay from it, I had stomach craps and worse for days after eating it.

  • Megan K.

Our server was very brief. They weren't busy as the lunch rush had just started and he got us in and out pretty quick, but he never bothered to check on us other than to ask if our bill was together or separate. I left thirsty since he never bothered to refill my drink. I got the fish wrap and it was just okay. I remembered having had it at the Wolfies on Morse and really liking it. This one may have been missing the chipotle mayo. I won't be going back to this location.

I stop by this place everytime I come to Indy on business. Nice little place tucked away off of 96th street. Kinda has a lodge type of feel to it, big stone fireplace in the middle of the place, mounted deer heads, and a log cabin-esque bar complete the feel. They also have outdoor seating. The service was pretty good, my server was right on top of things and made sure that my pint glass never ran dry. The beer selection is not phenominal, but it is better than average. Offerings by Three Floyds, Sun King, Bells, Goose Island, and the typical psuedo craft and macro. The food was pretty good for this type of place, I would definately say slightly better than average. The horseradish crusted sirloin is pretty tasty... Overall this place is worth a visit. Decent beer list, good food, warm feel, and good service keep me coming back when I'm in town.

This place is GREAT to go to for the Chicago Bears games during football season. (They are a Chicago Bears bar - the "Bear Down" song is on the back of the menus, so if you don't like it, don't go during football season). Being BIG fans from Chicago area, we were overjoyed to run into this place. It is PACKED during football season, so get there early before the game starts or else plan on not getting a seat inside. The servers are always friendly. If you stay for the whole game, tip them very well and be sure to continually order drinks or apps or something because they are losing other patrons during the Bears games. The buffalo nachos are fantastic and a must order for us everytime. They do specialize in "bar food" - burgers, nachos, wings, etc., but I was pleasantly surprised by the salads I've eaten there too. The cabin decor is cute too. We did visit the one in Noblesville when we didn't get to Fishers early enough for the game and it is NIGHT AND DAY between the two. The one in Fishers is definitely more of a bar atmosphere during the games (packed full, patrons all in their sport teams' jerseys, people yelling and cheering and some even cursing inappropriately, etc.) and the one in Noblesville was much quieter and way more family friendly. Haven't been outside of football season, though, so I'm not sure if the Fishers location has a more family friendly atmosphere then, but I would bet not.

Even Tuesdays nights are packed at the Den. Which by the way looks like a hunting lodge when you enter, but not over done. Met a girlfriend for an evening out around 6:30 and was really surprised on how busy it was. I take that as a good sign. We sat in the bar and service was prompt. I had beer and my friend had a margarita (Tuesday's they have a $4.50 rita special) she said it was good. My beer was cold, so I was happy. We tried the wings with the dry rub and enjoyed them. They are on the salty side so beware if salt is not your thing. I tried a hamburger and liked it. I was not ask how I wanted it prepared and it was a bit on the dry side, but still lots of flavor, next time I will ask for it med. The bathrooms are a bit hidden, so scope it out before starting in on your beverage of the night. Parking is fine, could use a bit more, as my friend had to park at taco bell! Looking forward to going back and raising the rating to a solid 4!

Great atmosphere, good food! The only problem came when my girlfriend tried to place her order from the menu & was told that they didn't have what she wanted off the menu. She was able to find something different on the menu that they did have & she was happy. But, it would have been nice to know up front that they were out of that particular menu item. However, the staff were friendly enough & apologetic. Overall, good experience.

Nice selection of beers (several above and beyond the usual Coors, Miller, Bud; don't miss Three Floyd's, Sun King and Bell's); friendly staff; good, not fantastic bar food.

Three visits and the food was all good and there's a nice small selection of craft beer. Non-smoking is a plus!! We'll be back. Good job, Wolfie!
