Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

Cheese enchiladas were not as good as I thought they would be, last Friday of Lent....

I was here for margaritas / chips / queso / guacamole, so I can't comment on the entrees at this time. I'll definitely go back again---the employees here are seriously some of the friendliest I've ever encountered. The queso was good---standard Mexican white cheese, super yummy. I thought the guac could have used a little less onion in it, but it was overall very fresh and good.

I just started using yelp, but if I was keeping track of all of the times I checked in at Friaco's, it would definitely be over 50. Friaco's has quick and tasty food. I've always been satisfied with my experience here. The salsa is smooth and has a good amount of cilantro, which I love. The queso dip is also a favorite. My son eats a plate of beans and rice every time and just loves it. Their margaritas are very good and I once ordered catering for a party and everyone was pleased with the food. The people who work there are amazingly friendly. We always get a nice greeting and have always been very happy with the service. Needless to say, we will keep coming back.

This place has the best margaritas and burritos! Plus the staff is so nice! I definitely recommend the sangria margarita.

Our favorite Wednesday dinner - $1 tacos. Yes, they are smaller than the regular menu tacos and only 3 meat choices, but consistently good. We start with the ubiquitous chips and salsa, an order of Queso dip, add the 32oz Dos Equis draft special (which I never finish) and a diet Pepsi for my wife and we all but waddle out. We've been on other nights and similarly enjoyed a variety of dishes. Not an upscale elegance but that's not what they're going for. Again, solidly consistent and fairly priced. Kitschy colorful Mexican decor pretty standard in this geographical area with a Mexican eatery on every other corner. Service is fast and pleasantly delivered. Water and soft drinks replenished without asking. We love the cheery wait staff of both genders. They're teaching us Spanish.

I decided to give this place another try after our bad experience the previous visit. This time I tried the fish tacos and they were fantastic! The corn tortillas were soft with good flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly. The usual add-ons all seemed fresh. The best part is that they were inexpensive compared to other similiar Mexican restaurants. I will put this back in my rotation for a good, inexpensive meal.

  • Lisa S.

Well....from a customer service stand....they could use some help. Asked for hard tacos..I got soft. Tried to tell the server..she never came back. I did get a refill of my sprite without having to ask. I also had a coupon for a free ice cream...server stared at the paper like she had never seen it before. Then she walked away. I didn't know if they were honoring it or not. On the the tacos..I love $1 taco Wednesday. .you really can't complain that the tacos ate just okay. The fried ice cream was not what I expected. So I will leave that ay a no comment.

We've eaten at Friaco's twice now and I haven't been particularly impressed. It comes down to the food for me, because the service and location are fine. The food tastes very cheap to me. I don't have to have complete authentic Mexican food so I'm usually fine with chain or big store Mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa were very forgettable and we most recently did the dollar tacos on Wednesday. It's going to sound terrible, but we finished eating them, and my wife and I agreed that they were a lot like Taco Bell soft tacos, except less flavorful. The tacos had meat, shredded cheese, and lettuce. I poured hot sauce all over mine to get some flavor. Two stars because the dollar for a taco deal is cheap, and the service was fine. We'll be looking elsewhere for Mexican food.

  • A B.

This place serves mediocre Mexican food. We have gone several times for $1.00 tacos on Wednesdays. Our most recent time will be our last visit there. Our service was spotty. The tacos were so watery that you could not even attempt to pick them up. I tried picking up one of my chicken tacos to find that a stream of water dripped down my arm and all into my coat. I was so disgusted with the water (and unflavored!) tacos that I stopped eating them. Chips and salsa are mediocre. There are better Mexican places in town.

  • Margaret Y.

This was a first time for Friaco's for my husband & I. The name, by the way, doesn't have a meaning. The Margaritas were a special for the evening, so we ordered the mango. It had a delicious flavor but after the two of us drinking a pitcher, it was obviously low on alcohol. I ordered the fish tacos...so yummy with fresh sliced avocado. My husband got the shrimp fajitas. He thought they were delish. Great guacamole. The waitress was friendly & helpful. We'll come again when we get back to Indy.

Slow service....on a slow night (uncrowded) The Salsa is pretty good. Wish I had a few more chip while I sit here waiting for my food. My food was fair when I finally got it....nothing special...overpriced. They do have a $1.00 taco Wednesday special which seems to be a pretty decent deal so I might come back for that....otherwise....no desire to come back.

We have tried this place several times and have yet to be impressed. The service is always poor- we feel as if we are bothering them when we go. The food takes forever to get there and when it does show its warm at best making us wonder how long it sat out. There is outdoor dining which is nice. With 3 other Mexican restaurants nearby I'd pick a different one.

  • Executor N.

Friacos is more than the typical mexican restaurant. They have some special dishes that are a MUST TRY! Carne Deshebrada is really, really good and highly recommended. Considering the multiple places around the area this one stands up. Family environment and courtegeous service. The chef came out of the kitchen after I complemented the carne deshebrada dish and told me all about it, it's definitely good. If you are in the Fishers area and craving for Mexican give them a try.

  • Sam R.

Average Mexican food. It was okay but obviously tailored for Americans. It was better than some of the other white peoples Mexican I've had. I got carnitas. The meat was okay, nothing special. It had a lot of excess fat on it that was nasty tasting though. The tortillas were oddly good as well as the rice but the beans were mediocre. I will probably not be back here but it was alright.

  • Missi R.

I've dined here twice now, first with family then returning to introduce friends to the place. In addition to the nicely decorated dining room there is a very nice outdoor patio. We all love the fresh guacamole, and the salsa is excellent and tastes very fresh as well. The cheese dip was warm and tasty. We dined here last night (Cinco de Mayo) and every table was full, inside and on the patio. We waited 15 mintues for a table. The cheese enchiladas are simply the best I've ever had, very different than the usual served at most area Mexican restaurants. My friends sampled a variety of different entrees including Taco Salad Fajitas with seasoned shredded chicken and the Friaco Burrito. We all thought everything was excellent. The Margaritas are excellent! Try the Monster Margarita for a real treat, big enough for two to share Service was very good and attentive. There was plenty of staff working, enough to provide very good service to the large Cinco de Mayo crowd.

  • Catherine K.

Decent lunch stop. Portions are huge, of course. The salsa seemed a little bland today, although I am recovering from a cold so it could have been my taste buds. Each time I eat here, it's pretty good. Never really that busy so it's easy to have a conversation and linger. Plus, they now have diet Dr. Pepper!

Gringo Mex food. Simply unimpressive and uninspired.

  • Melissa T.

With many (at least five I can think of) Mexican restaurants along 116th in Fishers, Friaco's is by far the best! The rice and beans remind me of my Grandmothers. The chicken flautas, carne asada and even the standard Margarita are all top notch. Everything they serve is fresh and the salsa does have a little heat and cilantro, which we love! The staff and manager are very welcoming and attentive.

  • Jen H.

We've never had a wait to get seated, even when it's busy. The guacamole is amazing. They don't make it table-side, but I'm fairly certain it's fresh. It's definitely a step up from that overprocessed baby-food looking crap a lot of places serve. Their chorizo cheese dip is quite yummy as well. I think the food is pretty excellent so far. My husband and I go on a regular basis. Also, people complaining about only getting two free kid's meals? Seriously. I don't have kids, and even I know that most restaurants only give one free kid's meal per adult. At least now I know which night to not go to Friaco's, so thanks for that.

  • Christopher R.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants and I now refuse to go anywhere else. I have ordered the fajita burrito every time because the ingredients are fresh and delicious. It doesn't leave a puddle of juice on my plate like at so many other places. The veggies are grilled and still have their color because they haven't been over cooked. Their queso dip is also incredible. Their service is only ok but with the food as good as it is, I can look past it. Certainly worth a try!

Terrible service, No cheese with Fajita. Waitress never came back to check on us, Had to wait long time for and keep asking for our bill.

My son and I visited Friaco's on Saturday evening. We were seated immediately in a weird line of booths which are separated fromt the main dining room and over by the kitchen. We asked to be moved because it was freezing and the hostess complied with a smile. My son loved his dinner of Tacos de Carne Asada. I had carnitas. The carnitas were crispy and tender like carnitas should be, however, they were a bit dry. I also thought they were a bit stingy with the lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and avocado slices that were listed on the menu. Some lettuce, more peppers, A tomato slice (from like a roma tomato) and AN avocado slice were served. My son raved about his tacos and I will say they were generously heaped with a lot of carne asada. Overall the service was really good and I probably upped my rating from 2-3 based upon the service and how much my son enjoyed his meal. I would say that for the most part though, Friaco's is a fairly Americanized Mexican restaurant. I will say though that they have Jaritos and Horchata on the menu, so that helps.

The wife and I were pretty excited about the new Mexican place going in where Stefano's had been for several years. Nice and close to home, and if up to par, could become a place where we are regulars. Alas, this is a chain that has a menu that looks just like several other chain Mex restaurants in the area. This was a tremendous disappointment. There are two things I check out on first breaking in a Mexican joint- the chips & salsa, and the chicken fajitas. The chips were warmed up store chips, and while the salsa had a little more heat than many Gringo Mex joints, there wasn't much else going for it besides that heat. The fajitas were decent, though I could go for far more peppers and tomatoes in the dish. If you prefer virtually all meat on the sizzling platter, this may appeal more to you. The beans and rice were on the plus side of average. The service was very slow each of the three times I've been there, in a distracted kind of way. It's never been crowded, but the attentiveness isn't there. Total bummer. We were hoping to make this a regular stop. We'll keep going down to La Hacienda at Binford & 75th instead.

We went to Friaco's this evening with a LARGE group of people (there were at least 50 of us). Whenever we go with a large group like that we automatically cut them some slack. I am happy to report that we were all served promptly. I ordered vegetarian fajitas and my dining partner had carne asada. Both dishes had the usual side items...spanish rice, refried beans, lettuce, pico de gallo and sour cream. I was overjoyed with my dish - all the veggies were fresh and hot and it was exactly what I was anticipating. The carne asada was...not so much. Tough and chewy - he said he wouldn't order it again. The salsa and guacamole were both very good as well. Plus, they provided extra hot sauce to kick it up a notch. I will definitely return for the vegetarian fajitas. Hopefully my significant other will return with me and perhaps order a different dish! Closing out our checks was a chore, but again...there were at least 50 people in our party, plus all of the other patrons...so that was understandable.

We wanted to go to El Sol de Tala but they were closed for Easter Sunday. So, we thought we would try this newer place on the north side in Fishers. AMBIENCE- the place is located in a strip mall next to the new Super Target. All of the shops around it were closed- maybe because it was Easter or maybe because it was Sunday- anyways, ample parking since the place looked deserted. There were about 7 cars parked by the restaurant itself. Inside the restaurant is nice and bright. Light wood chairs and tables throughout with some modern Mexican themed art work hanging up. Probably about 6 booths around the walls but mostly tables in the middle and throughout. A nice looking place, obviously new. SERVICE- The waitress was OK. We needed to ask for a refill which always bugs me. She whizzed past us several times before we were able to flag her down. I did notice that they had about 6 waiters/waitresses and they were not very busy at all. Most people were milling around and going from the kitchen to the front counter to talk to the hostess and then back to the kitchen. It seemed like they had too many people with nothing to do. I counted, and there were 5 other couples/groups eating there. Our waitress had 3 tables including us and then each other table had their own waiter- kinda odd, when I would think that one person could wait on 5 tables- but whatever- no biggie. MENU- The menu is standard 'Mexican' style. I noticed the guacamole dip was 5.99 as were all other dips, bean dip, queso- all priced at 5.99. They had specials on the menu like carne asada or carnitas. And they also have regular stuff like enchiladas, tacos, burritos and taquitos. Everything was priced around $10-12 even for lunch. Most places I have been to have lunch prices throughout the entire week but they only do it M-F. So, the prices are a little steep but not crazy high. FOOD- Well it all comes down to this and the food was just average. The chips are not made in house, they are store bought- you can tell. The salsa is fresh and it was pretty good, a little heavy on the cilantro for my taste. I ordered the Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas. Problem #1- the enchilada was made with a Flour tortilla... no, burritos are made with flour- enchiladas are made with corn. It would have been so much better with corn tortillas, Problem #2- the chicken inside was on the dry side- not horribly so but not as moist as it should have been. The sour cream sauce was actually very good. The beans, I am pretty sure, are canned. They tasted OK but if I want canned beans I will cook at home. The rice was good, thankfully. It was the only thing I ate in it's entirety... My husband ordered the Carnitas. He really liked them. They were cooked very well. HOWEVER... they did not come with tortillas! We had to ask for tortillas and we were charged for them. This is very, very odd. Carnitas come with tortillas- just like fajitas do. Now, wouldn't you be mad if you ordered fajitas and they charged you extra for the tortillas? OVERALL- Overall pretty meh. As in "meh, let's go somewhere else" It's not that the food was horrible- it was alright. But that's just it, when you spend money on eating at a restaurant you want something gooood not just meh. We drive to Indy from Muncie and this place is not worth the drive. El Sol de Tala, now that's worth the drive!

Went here for the first time on Cinco de Mayo. I was not impressed. It is expensive for what you get, the salsa had no flavor and parents, be careful with the kids meals, a drink is NOT included.

It all started off when we were seated next to the door to the kitchen even though the resturant was nearly empty. This was on a Saturday. We were not able to order from the luncheon special menu since that is only available Monday through Friday. Downer as far as I'm concerned. I do not like having to pay dinner prices for lunch entrees. The usual salsa and chips were nothing outstanding. The chips were basically what you'd get from Publix in a bag. I tried the Enchiladas Mole. It came with rice and charro beans. The rice was done right, the mole sauce was pretty much over-powering and resulted in quite a case of heart burn later, and the charro beans had no flavor that I could detect. The corn tortillas were paper thin and added nothing to the dish. The bill of fare for this dish was $8.49 My dining partners split an order of Enchilada Suizas. Again the tomatillo sauce was over-powering and extremely spicy. No other sides were included which makes the $9.49 + tax too high. Wait service was acceptable but nothing special either. In summary, we won't return. There is a lot of competition in the Tex-Mex business and frankly this one doesn't measure up to our "Uncle Julio" standard. Pass this one up and drop into Taco Bell.

Friaco's is not where you want to go to get Mexican food. I had the chicken tortilla soup and it was made with CANNED CHICKEN!. Canned chicken in a Mexican soup? You have got to be kidding me. Also, the food was generally bland. I had to hit my tacos with some hot sauce to make it even the least bit non-bland. They say the tacos are their specialty. I don't think so. The rest of the diners in our group did not even finish their food. The steak fajitas were so bland that we didn't know if it was chicken or beef.

My daughter and I ate here for dinner after attending a nearby birthday party. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away. Our order was taken promptly. I ordered the Carnitas dinner. It was "different" than any carnitas I had ever ordered before and I've eaten hundreds of carnitas of all styles before. I could tell they took pork roast and cut it into cubes long before the roast was tender. I believe, upon ordering, they must take those cubes and fry them to reheat and give it the texture carnitas generally have. I was given two very small tortillas so I constructed my carnitas "taco" and found that even when doused in salsa that was on the table for the tortilla chips, it nearly choked me going down. VERY tough and so dry I thought it might actually get stuck in my throat going down. Our waitress did not visit our table during the 20-25 mins after our plates were delivered to the table. In fact, because we were way off in a corner not anywhere near the other occupied tables, it was hard to get anyone's attention. I thought that maybe I just need to make the best of this dinner and attempted to eat a couple more bites. It was the same but worse now that I was focused on how it was SO DRY and TOUGH. When our waitress finally did make an appearance, I told her about the problem with the carnitas and she apologized and said "I hope you at least liked the service." I tried not to let my jaw hit the ground considering a) she didn't address that my food was nearly untouched and I just said it was inedible, b) she made no attempt to fix the problem, and c) she seemed only concerned about making sure she got a good tip. I asked for our bill and there was no adjustment for the fact that my dinner was nearly untouched. She picked up my credit card and when she returned to the table, she placed my credit card and receipt in front of my 9 year old. Hmmmm, what to think when the waitress comes to the table and places the credit card across the table from me directly in front of my 9 year old. One thing is for sure, my 9 year old cannot sign the receipt and determine a tip. ;-) Needless to say, I will never go back and do not recommend them. I think there are far better Mexican restaurants to choose from.

Bottom line, this Mexican food is mediocre. I really wanted it to be good, as it is close to our home. First, we ordered carry out. My husband brought it home. They forgot my daughter's entree and part of what was to be included in my order. Although we paid for it all. And, for real. This business can't get it right on a Monday evening? My husband drove back. The older gentleman seemed very nice. He gave us coupons for another visit. But no thanks. I KNOW good Mexican food, this was terrible. And it's sad because it's in a very nice location.

MMMMMMM...... Muy deliciouso! I have fallen in love. Again.Order the Friaco's Chimichanga. Steak Peppers Onions deep fried in a crisp doughy shell. The sangria was well priced- a little dryer then I would have chosen, but not bad. We don't have children and the place is always seemingly overun with kids. Its worth the drive to Fishers from Indy for the great sceene and delicious food.

Great Mexican food! I would have to say prob the best I have had in Indy. The service is inconsistent. The portions are huge for lunch so you definitely get your money's worth. I had the chimichanga and it was fresh and very tasty. On Wednesday the have $1 tacos!

Came here for dinner on a Friday night and had a very good experience. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere and decor really sets it apart with the painted booths and chairs as well. I had the vegetarian enchiladas and my wife had the vegetarian quesadillas. Both were delicious. I also had some guacamole which was very good. For a sit down Mexican restaurant in Fishers, you can't do much better than Friaco's.

Authentic Mexican restaurant near the Super Target in Fishers. I've never waited to be seated here. The decor of the restaurant is cool and they have some good drinks specials. The food comes out quick and is reasonably priced. The salsa is super fresh and extra tasty. This is a cool, low-key spot to have a no-hassle meal.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
