Crab Rangoon is some of the best on the planet. General Tso's is awesome as well. Prices are very reasonable for lunch. Wait staff was on it. Great place.

THE BEST CHINESE I HAVE EVER HAD, AND I HAVE HAD CHINESE FROM SAN DIEGO TO PORTLAND, MAINE! I live in Indianapolis now (far to far for a commute to TC)...and I have LITERALLY DREAMED about their Hot Braised Shrimp. With this being said, THIS IS NOT A REDNECK BUFFET JOINT. I was born and raised in E'ville and I can tell you; if you want scrub food, go to a "buff-ay"...if you want DELICIOUS FOOD...go to Yen Ching. Most of you reading this already know that this is...by FAR...the best Chinese in town. Every time I come back home, I MUST go to YC. The food is made with care...from the Hot and Sour Soup (PERFECT), to the egg rolls (crispy and delicious, without being greasy)..to ANY entree (once again, if you have not had the Hot Braised Shrimp...you are missing out!), the food is delectable!!!!!!

Uh negative ghost writer. It is WAYY overpriced. I ended up paying the same amount as if I were at pf changs for this hole in the wall. And the lo mein was basically boiled noodles sitting in a pile of grease. No sauce and barely any veggies or meat. I vote a definite no!

This is the best chinese in Evansville! Always consistent and always delicious. Portions are enormous and food is quite fresh. There's no reason to go elsewhere!

While I love Chinese food and I do think Yen Ching does a good job with their food, it was always a "once-in-awhile" sort of meal as I do find it a bit pricier than other Chinese restaurants in Evansville. Its on Green River, so not hard to find at all and when you walk in, it is like being transported out of Evansville. The decor isn't tacky, like some Chinese restaurants, although some may find it a bit much, but the Chinese appreciate detail. It family style, which I like. It is a nice change from the individual orders and portions you get at other restaurants. When you order, they bring out a plate/bowl of food which you could just eat yourself, but ideally you would share with the others at your table. That being said you should watch how much you order as you can easily end up with far too much food. Of their soups, the Hot and Sour Soup is my favourite. I still have not found a Won Ton Soup that rivals the one I remember from my favourite Chinese place in California... The egg rolls are nice, but nothing surprising. The lemon chicken is very good (another one of my favourite dishes that I am highly critical about), the sauce has the right amount of sour and sweet and the chicken is nicely cooked. The Mongolian Beef is also very good. Sometimes you get Mongolian Beef and there is either barely any beef or the beef is so tough, but Yen Ching's is not like that. My favourite dish they do is the Green Bean with Shredded Pork. The green beans are nice and crisp, but tender, paired with the bite size pieces of tender pork. No heavy, gloopy sauce, just a nice flavor of garlic. All of the fried rice choices are nice, but I am partial to having a nice bowl of steamed rice... 1) so you can use chop sticks and 2) to let the dishes speak for themselves. They have my favourite fortune cookies as well... they don't taste like cardboard like other fortune cookies... AND they have these almond cookies that are wonderful! I always buy a bag on the way out for the rest of the week =).

Yen Ching has great food, but the best thing about it is the friendly atmosphere and great service. The first time I went was on a Sunday, the one day a week they offer a buffet. I remarked to my server that I did not see Crab Rangoon on the buffet. She said the chef was bringing some out soon. Within minutes, Patricia, my server, brought TO MY TABLE a plate of four crab rangoon AND a bowl of crunchy noodles. She said to me, "I noticed you didn't have any crunchy noodles for your soup, so I brought you some." What kind of buffet has that kind of service? It is unheard of. Patricia is also very friendly and will stop to socialize with everyone. She even brought me my coat that I had forgotten when I got up to leave. I enjoyed the tasty food, but I will make it a point to come back for the great, friendly service!

Their food is great, their service is THE BEST. Not the cheapest, not a buffet except on Sundays. When I want Chinese, I head here.

As I like to say, Yen Ching is godliness. I honestly have NEVER had anything bad there. Everything is superb. The food comes out in giant plates that are steaming hot, my favorites are probably the cashew chicken, sizzling rice soup for two, crab rangoon, twin diced birds nest, and definitely empress chicken. But you'll never go wrong with anything you choose. The service is great, and they have people coming back on such a regular basis, everyone--staff and customers--are on a first name basis! I always stop to talk to the owners for at least several minutes whether I'm there picking up food or sitting down to eat. They are simply wonderful, the nicest people. Always ask about my family, how my classes are going, and more. Coming home from school, its the first place I eat, and sometimes even going back to school I'll get carry out for once I'm back! My friend from NYC tried it and said its better than ANY Chinese food she had in New York. Honestly, I can't say enough good about this place. Ooooo the gods are shining down on that delicious food!!!!!

I dont' know what all the rage about Yen Ching is. I have been for a sit-down dinner and the buffett. Both times the food was OK at best. The sauces are too slimy. I love crab rangoon, but the crab rangoon here just is not good. I prefer the Chopstick House.

though i no longer live in e-ville, i still crave the yen ching!!!!! no, the rice is not sticky, (no chopsticks here) and yes, the sauce is a little thick, but all-in-all i still love it! one would think that there are better chinese joints in socal, alas, i cannot say i have a favorite anywhere in long beach. yen ching is a "must visit" each and every single time i come home to the ville. sometimes, several visits must be made. couldn't tell you what it is exactly that keeps drawing me in . . . possibly the msg. and the service is always better than decent.

Yen Ching has the best chinese food of anywhere I have ever been. There isn't anything on the menu that I don't like. Ask for the "special menu" for some authentic Chinese goodness.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
