Worst anniversary dinner in 32 years. Burnt steaks. Rib eyes that look totally different from each other. Like leftovers. Cold baked potatoes. Never again.

Went there this weekend for dinner. Service was fast and friendly. Kept seeing one of the owners checking on the floor, which was nice to see. Drinks were refilled often and with a nice smile checking if everything was good and if we needed anything. We ordered the battered fried mushrooms for appetizer which came to the table pretty quickly. batter was nice and crunchy and mushrooms were piping hot inside. We ordered the NY Strip and the Rib-eye, both medium and both came back perfectly to temp. The steaks were great and not overly salty like the last time we were here, but beware of the sauteed mushrooms. they are cooked in some sort of steak sauce that is extremely salty. One had baked potato and one had steamed broccoli. Baked potato was of the ordinary variety and the broccoli were basically the whole thing stem and florets in big long pieces, but were nicely cooked. not too smooshy, not hard stems either. Meals came with salad bar, that while not extensive, had a nice variety of toppings to choose from. Even had huge block of cheeses that you could cut slices from. Everything was prepared very well and even though the decor has been updated recently, it still had a bit of an outdated look, especially for the prices. But bottom line, food was great, staff was great. Will definitely be back.

Was very disappointed. Had only one night in Evansville and wanted to stay away from the chains. Service was ok, our server was a little inattentive saying yes yes yes without actually listening and comprehending. Probably why our $25 tiny steaks came back well done when we both asked for medium rare. Salad bar was ok with a lot of options but not sure what was up with the shredded lettuce. Maybe should have chosen a second side since they cheaply made me choose salad bar or a second side. Friendly and good with drink refills are the reason I gave the 2nd star. I wish I would have taken my money elsewhere.

Unfortunately, when I went here for dinner with my family last week, my experience was less than good. Food: I was trying to eat healthier and ordered the California grilled chicken. The grilled chicken breast itself was fine. However, the veggies and pasta it sat on top of were terrible. The veggies were LITERALLY the microwaveable bag of California mix veggies you buy in the freezer aisle, and the linguine pasta was hard in some places, as if it had been sitting out too long. I also ordered a salad from the salad bar. It had pretty standard ingredients, nothing special, but it was nice to make something I knew I would enjoy. I wish I would have ordered the beef kabob - my dad had that and said it was great. Experience: Like someone else mentioned, the pictures of old Evansville are cool, but everything else in the place is dated. Additionally, my party was placed in a room off to the side of the main room - and it was FREEZING. The fans were all on and the air conditioning must have been full blast. My waitress even asked if we were cold but didn't make any changes... Overall: not coming back.

On my most recent visit the food quality was excellent and the server was outstanding. The decor is outdated and the prices are steep. The old Evansville pictures are neat, but they need to incorporate them into a better design. The place should pay tribute to Evansville history, but without making you feel like you are in an outdated facility. Even though the food is good, you can get steaks that are just as good elsewhere for less money.

It's an Applebee's menu and quality but with premium prices. Ouch! I've eaten here twice in the last few months. I held off on the review thinking that it was just a bad first visit - but it's not! I've had the NY strip steak and it was just average both times - done precisely as ordered (rare) but not just much flavor. The baby ribs were average but not great. The salad bar is - you guessed it - just average and fairly typical. Oddly shredded lettuce, semi-soft cheap cheddar and vinaigrette dressing that you pour from the bulk bottle (almost like they brought it straight from Gordon's Food Service). Everything has become homogenated and nothing feels special anymore. It seems as though they're trying to be a retro steakhouse but steak doesn't seem to be featured that prominently anymore. My sense is that they've lost their way - in trying to provide something from everyone, they've forgotten their basic core of great steaks and ribs. I hated to write this review because I'm a firm believer in locally-owned restaurants but when a chain place (Outback) can beat you at your own game (steaks), it's time to make some changes. On the positive side - the front desk staff, waitresses and bus boys are terrific, with everyone pitching in to help.

Prime rib is excellent !! Don't know about anything else cause I always order the prime rib. Salad bar is good and always looks fresh. Sometimes service isn't always the best but I've had much worse.

Great place for an excellent steak or prime rib and a fantastic, fresh, clean, multi item salad bar. We go there every year on our way to our annual Kentucky visit. Great food, great service, great dining experience. We go in the spring and it's a very popular Pre-Prom night destination for the Kids in the area. They do everything right 5 stars.

Ambiance: ceiling paint peeling over our table & garden lattice decor. The salad bar was well stocked, but the shredded lettuce was odd. Our lunches were served at a glacial pace. The waitress was friendly - bless her heart she reminded me of my mom - and although I feel badly it was just so darn slow. The death knell was the food. The marinated, grilled chicken breast for $11.99 was a disgrace. The chicken breasts were small and rubbery and the marinade was horrible. These must be packaged-in-plastic-opened-and-grilled marinated chickens. I had bone jarring, undercooked bites of rice that appeared to have dehydrated tomato pieces in the undercooked rice, must be imitation Rice-a-Roni from GFS. I notified the waitress that I was eating my colleague's fries (fries cooked in ancient oil?) because I crunched on uncooked rice and got an "oh really?" Same bill, and by the way this place is NOT cheap for what you get. No luck getting a 2nd disintegrating napkin I asked for.

I have never eaten here before and heard good things though. But I heard from my aunt. I believe my sandwich was the "Brown slab" named item, it was open-faced turkey (turkey roll it seemed from the skin). It had an under-ripe tomato with melted simulated vinyl cheddar cheese. No Sargento here folks. It was gross. Service progressed about as fast as evolution or plate tectonics. The interior decorator of Western Ribeye's other projects probably included the set of Leave it to Beaver. People who are not from Evansville will not like this place.
