This restaurant has come along way since opening last year. The sushi and service are excellent. I've never had the hibachi, however, the tables are always packed. I've been to every sushi restaurant in town and this is definitely one of the best. You can't beat the prices. The place is very clean. I'm usually there 2 to 3 times per week and love the varieties of sushi and rolls.

The sushi is average, and selection is alright, though rather costly. Hibachi grill menu is pretty good, but I can't say the same for the show. Have had no problems with the staff, they're usually prompt, and attentive. Overall, the joint's okay, though I never found myself looking forward to eating here. Pros: Good sushi selection, and hibachi servings are good. Decent staff Cons: Dark, and dank decor. Awkward hibachi show.

Great hibachi. But extremely expensive sushi. I lived in Japan for three years and NEVER seen the ridiculous pricing on simple Nigiri that I've seen here. Understandable that it's inland but at least list the prices on the sushi menu. It Will save a lot of surprises when the check comes. Other than the sushi pricing the overall restaurant was fantastic. Excellent staff and a very entertaining hibachi.

Great place. Best sushi in the area. Kanpai and zuki are hit or miss with me, and I have never had a bad experience here. If your into great food and great service GO HERE

Food was great... Service was mediocre. The soup and drinks were brought to the table about the same time as our meal so we felt rushed. Then the waiter brought us a bill that was $40 over our actual bill amount. When we questioned it, he explained that he accidentally put someone else's bill on ours and didn't know how to fix it so that was the reason. Seemed like he was waiting for us to just pay the bill and leave. Won't be back

We had reservations for 7pm on Saturday 8/23/14. Arrived about 10 minutes early, and waited until 7:15pm to be seated. By 7:45pm we were served our drinks, and our soup and salad finally came at 8:10pm. We ordered Hibachi and had to wait for our chef to finish at another table, and then waited another 10-15 minutes or so for him to prepare our food before he was ready to cook it. Food was very good, but service was very poor, especially for a Saturday night. Since we took the time to make reservations, we would have appreciated a heads-up that they were under-staffed in advance. We would not have bothered coming if we had known they were so understaffed for a Saturday evening.

Roppongi is the only place in Evansville that we go to for sushi. Its delicious and they always make amazing looking rolls. Our favorites are the 007 and Roppongi rolls and we always try a different one each time we go. I would give the review 5 stars based on food alone. Their customer service is absolutely extinct. I have seen this on every occasion that we've been there, but I love the food so much I always return. My boyfriend and I like to go out to eat and just sit and talk and have real conversation. Every single time we go to Roppongi we are in and out in less than 30 min. For the amount of money we spend on our total bill which is always around $40-$50, we expect to enjoy our time together. We sit at a table, not hibachi, but the way the dining is arranged, it is so loud that you can't even think. The knives clanking and the party room is open so we might as well have been invited to that bachelorette party last night. We ordered water to drink, which apparently our waiter didn't appreciate. He never came back to refill our glasses except when we asked after our food was gone. We ordered soup and salad which is an extra charge for both at dinner. He told us twice that he would have to charge us extra even though we said we didn't care. We each ordered a special roll so they were both over $10. They were delicious and the prices didn't bother me but he brought all of our food out at the same time. As we put the last bite of sushi each into our mouths, the waiter returns to ask if we were ready for the check. We literally had to finish chewing to reply. Before we got the check a bus boy came and took all our dishes off the table including our water glasses and forks. We felt rushed and unwelcome. I didn't appreciate the attitude of our waiter or his lack of courtesy by rushing us out the door. Half of the hibachi tables were closed (I assume due to low staffing) and they were making people wait to be seated. Our waiter was very absent from our table even though he only had 2 other very small tables close to us. For the price of the food, you shouldn't feel like you're being kicked out of a half empty restaurant at 8:30 on a Saturday night.

I've had their chirashi, tuna nigiri, and mackerel nigiri.. And having sampled most of their raw fish I will concur with most reviews here that the food is top notch. The quality of the fish is superb, chirashi very well plated and presented, and even the miso soup is above standard from regular sushi joints. I've been here twice in 3 days and would recommend this place to All sushi lovers. Their hibachi area seems to always be hopping, I'm sure all food prepared there is probably delightful as well :) I also love that the staff is friendly and attentive. Thumbs up !!!

Similar to other hibachi's but way overpriced. The serving size of veggies and rice are limited to a cup. They also fry spaghetti with soy sauce but you are given that as you're just about done with your meal. I don't know about anyone else but spaghetti is not Japanese and I don't want to pay for something I won't eat. They add meat to the fried rice by the way. Couldn't tell if it was plain hamburger or sausage as it was flavorless. They don't flip food in your mouth as the others do. I was grateful for that but I think most like that part of the show. We had the Highlander Roll (shrimp, jalapeño, cream cheese), it was okay but very small in size and not robust in flavor. Overall, $90 was too much for two people. I had filet mignon and my son had steak and lobster.

Went last night for, what we had expected to be, a decent supper. Man! Were MY expectations blown out of the water?! I have eaten in some of the best and worse sushi bars, tappinyaki houses and Japanese steakhouses in the country, my work makes me travel quite a bit. But, I was so thoroughly impressed with my meal last night, I had to write and share. The menu options were almost staggering. The most negative thing I could say about their menu is, what I feel, a slight overuse of rolls with cream cheese included. But... come on! THAT'S the worse thing I can say?!?! Brett was an impeccable waiter! Not presumptuous or arrogant, eager to take the time and answer questions, and the recommendations he made was spot on! As great as the meal was, I took his recommendation for one last roll. I feel I should have asked for his recommendation on the entire meal. A great guy, great service, ridiculously good food, I believe it was the owner who came by personally a couple of times to check on us. I, truly, have nothing but great things to say about the restaurant and would recommend to anyone I liked. And probably never tell the people I don't like. It's just that DAMNED good.

Great food. Great environment. A lil pricey but you're definitely paying for what you're getting.

This place is just simply the best. We have been here more times than I care to count. We live an hour away and many times we drive just to eat and go back home. The staff is great and food is fabulous!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Came here for lunch, ordered a lunch combo that was 2 rolls and miso soup. Service was fast and the food was excellent ( had a spicy tuna roll and a yum yum roll) I personally thought that the prices for rolls were a little high, but not outrageous. Saw a couple getting a habachi dinner and the show was nice. If I'm in town again, I may give the dinner a try but the prices for dinner were pretty high too. 5 stars for cleanliness of the restaurant and service, but if the prices were a bit lower, I'd give this place 5 stars all around.

We had a really awesome experience great service and great sushi. I would highly recommend the red bull roll. Our drinks never got close to empty. There was someone going around and asking how our meal was and asking if we needed anything. Can't wait for our next date night to come back!

Complete joke!!! And extremely overpriced. Dont waste your money. Hubby and I had been eating here on and off when we lived in Evansville. The food is standard. We were in the area on a return trip home and decided to order sushi and basic food on their menu to go and it was over $$40. $$40?? To add insult to injury, they charged us $3 for hot sauce. $3 for two small drops of hot sauce???? Isnt hot sauce a condiment?? Apparently Rappongi doesn't think so. Why would I pay $3 for less than .25 oz of hot sauce when I can get 17 oz Sriracha at the walmart behind them for $2.78. They forgot to add the salad and soup that comes with the meal. We were 25 miles into our journey home when we decided to eat and noticed it. We called the restaurant owner and he told us if we can drive back and pick it up they would give it to us. Really, drive back 25 miles to pick up salad and soup they forgot to add to our order? Their customer service is completely out of the window and they show no regard to the people who keep them in business. Please don't spend your money here. Zuki has similar if not better food for half the price and excellent customer service.

I have only been here twice for lunch and ordered sushi both occasions. I have to say Sushi chef Sun kills it, both times all rolls were prepared to perfection and he has great daily chef specials! Eat here, your inner sushi self begs you to eat here! Cheers :)

We ate here with friends after recently moving to the area . big open dining area where you can see everything that's going on throughout the restaurant our chef was really friendly and personable however the food was extremely greasy which took away from the real flavor of the food I also thought it was a bit overpriced for the portion size. Not sure I will be back.

great sushi and the hibachi steak and scallops were fantastic. the chef was friendly but short on the entertainment side. our server was non-existent, forgetting our second drinks, our steamed rice, and one of our apps came out after dinner. To make matters worse, they still charged us for it. still talking about the sushi, it was well worth the other bothers. tighten the ship, management, we will be back!

Best sushi I've ever had, hands down. I would recommend anyone and everyone to try this place at least once. It amazes me that others have had bad experiences. I understand they are a fairly new restaurant, but I enjoyed my time there.

OK, time for an update on Roppongi. Decided to give it another go because it's so close to the hotel. I've been 3 more times and found the service has improved greatly. Not 100% as I did get my main order before my Miso made it out last night. How hard can it be to dish out Miso. I have been when the place was packed, and when it is dead slow. The fish is consistently fresh, the presentation is excellent. So I'm changing this from a stay away to definite visit.

My husband and I decided to try Roppongi last night, June 14; we had not had a dinner out, just the two of us, for almost six months due to work and other factors. We wanted to try the restaurant together and have an enjoyable evening. We were initially asked if we wanted a Hibachi table or a table. We did want to have a quiet meal with each other, and since we had had Hibachi-style dinners before, we opted for a table. What we didn't know was that being seated at a table evidently means being seated in the bar. The bar atmosphere is definitely less inviting, less comfortable; brighter, lower scale for the pricing, which is higher end for this area, and more, well, bar-ish. We could have asked to move, but elected to stay and enjoy the food and conversation, which is what we were there for anyway. Being seated in the bar also meant that the bartender was our waitress. Granted, this could be difficult, but with only one bar patron and the restaurant about 1/4-1/3 occupied, maybe not so much. We ordered drinks, which were delivered promptly. The cucumber mojito was very refreshing and a nice change from the norm. Our appetizer came within 10 minutes and was delicious. However, my husband's entree arrived within 2-3 minutes after the appetizer, which we had barely started to eat. My entree never arrived. I mean never as in never, ever. Ten minutes after my husband's food arrived, the waitress came over to ask if I wanted another drink and I told her no, because my food had not come out yet. She went to the kitchen and shortly returned saying "They got the tickets messed up and yours is up next." I'm not sure when "next" is at Roppongi, but 20 minutes later my husband was finished, my food had not arrived, and the waitress never checked back to see if it had. I had to go to the bar to ask for our check. I told her my food had never arrived, which she did not know, even though the bar was five steps from the table. She brought us our check saying, "I don't know what they are doing back there." During the time we were sorting out our check, no manager was summoned or apparently informed of the problem. We didn't ask for a manager; maybe we should have but I doubt it would have mattered at that point. Service does not appear to be one of Roppongi's goals in business. I nearly gave this two stars, because the food we actually received was very good and was served hot and nicely arranged. However, when a customer never receives an entree, even 20 minutes after reporting it to the waitress, I can't give this anything but one star. We won't be returning to Roppongi.

Service was the worse I have ever had. We called ahead, but when we got there we were told we still had to wait 20 minutes because they didn't have enough chefs, even though we asked for a sushi table, not a hibachi table. Once we finally sat down, I tried ordering a diet coke with a lime and the waiter tried to talk me out of ordering a lime because she would have to cut it up and that would take "a couple minutes." I asked if we could still get one, and she said she would but never brought one even though we reminded her several times. We ordered fried calamari and fried rice and they were both really tough and hard. The sushi itself was descent. Drink refills though took forever to get. Then to top it off, the waitress messed up 2 of our sushi orders twice. The first time she forgot to type in the order, and the second time she typed them in wrong. So she finally put the order in right the third time, but did not put it at the top of the line for the chef even though we had already been there over an hour. Then after waiting an extra 20 minutes, she came to us and asked if we "really" wanted to wait for those last 2 rolls. We were so upset and tired of waiting that we just said forget it. So after 2 hours of being at the restaurant, one person in our party never even got his meal. It was the absolute worse service we have ever had, and we are the type of people that eat out a lot. If management doesn't do something fast to greatly up the quality of this restaurant, I don't think this place is going to last long!
