I love this place! The food is excellent. The Loaded Patatas, which are basically tater tot nachos topped with a fried egg, are a perfect appetizer. I love the Pow Pow Shrimp tacos too. I have no idea what Pow Pow sauce is, but it hits my taste buds in just the right way. I didn't love the Raspberry Cheesecake Eggroll, however, because it was covered in chocolate syrup. The menu didn't make that clear, and I would have preferred my raspberry dessert not coated in chocolate.

Only Mexican restaurant that charges for chips and salsa and the salsa is flavored water. Their special is two tacos and a side for $8.95 ala carte two tacos and side is $7.95 Taco Bell and Taco John's have better food for a lot less. Four tacos two sides and two drinks $25. I never go back.

This is a cute little place on Washington Ave. the decor is eclectic and charming. I like the way they have turned part of their space into a covered patio. I was disappointed that it was much too hot to sit out there during our visit. We started off with the Loaded Potatas and they were great. I then had the Vegetarian Taco. It was ok though I wouldn't order it again. I mooched a bite of the Queso Mac $ Cheese and it was tasty. I seldom get dessert but felt l couldn't pass up the Raspberry Cheesecake Eggrolls. I am afraid they did not live up to my expectations. The raspberry to chocolate ratio was way too high on the chocolate side. I plan on returning as there are several different things on their menu I'd like to try out.

When I walk into a place and the floor feels greasy and sticky, bad news. Dave Thomas always said that if they didn't clean up front you have to wonder what they aren't cleaning in the back of the house. We had a variety of foods mostly ok good. But the Brussels sprouts were over cooked and cold. (Microwaved?) The cheese was not even warmed or melted. The hard corn tacos looked like the Bells, and the street corn side was canned corn, nothing special. I am still tasting the Chilaquiles, hours later. Another pet peeve of servers; I am not your buddy, friend or honey. I am your customer, you do not know my name, so - Sir, works. I do not call my "friends" Buddy, so why do you?. Overall the food was ok, not a two thumbs up, but not a middle finger either. Not planning a return trip. Why so many beers? Kinda lIke a Costco assortment gone bad.

Great atmosphere, great staff, great food. I went for lunch and ordered their $8.99 two tacos and one side deal with the shrimp taco and BBQ taco with a side of their unbelievable queso Mac and Cheese.

Second time coming here...awful again! Only one other couple in the whole place, and that should have been my cue to turn around and head out the door. My food was cold- very cold! Also, my corn tortillas were so hard that I could not eat the taco without it breaking into two pieces. Ugh!

We had a negative experience but was promptly contacted by the owner. He issued a gift certificate and asked us give them another try. I am looking forward to a hopefully positive experience in the near future.

City Taco has good food and great service, but it's overpriced. $3.50 / taco is a bit rich for a taco the size of a woman's hand. If they started some specials I'd go back, but I can't imagine they will based on the lunch wait. The shrimp taco was really good. The avocado corn salsa had one tiny piece of avocado, it was mostly corn. They don't do carry out yet.

This place is a really good place to get clean and fresh tasting tacos. I would recommend the pulled bbq chicken taco. Their beer selection here is great.(bottle and drafts) One negative thing is that I always leave here extremely hungry. For the price it is not very filling at all. The service is usually ok. Never been blown away by an server. But never have a terrible experience either.

Very mediocre tacos, not much flavor. The sides and chips were decent, but not worth another visit. Decor is odd also.

Very Good food. Ok service. A bit pricey. would be fine if they offered chips and salsa for free.

This restaurant was recommended by several friends and it didn't disappoint. They have an excellent craft beer listing where i ordered a great IPA. The service was efficient and friendly and the owner was on site chatting with patrons. The dinner deal that allows choosing 2 tacos was great. I had a mahi-mahi taco and a steak taco. Both were fresh tasting and excellent. The side southwest avocado salad was full of large chunks of fresh avocado and fresh corn. We will definitely eat here again.

Finally got to go after hearing rave reviews from friends. Absolutely loved it. Took the family and everyone of them loved it. Kids had buffalo chicken tacos with the queso mac n cheese, wife had chicken pesto tacos and I had the increible powpow shrimp tacos. Everyone thought they had the best meal there! We also had the bazooka guacamole that had goat cheese mixed into it and it was great!! We will certainly be back soon

I didn't like most of the things I tried here but the staff is so accommodating that they will bend over backwards to give you a nice experience and with a smile on their face. That's worth a trip alone to see if you like the food yourself.

Solid four stars. Great selection of tacos, reasonable prices, and extensive craft beer selection. The setting has a cool vibe. The service was attentive and knowledgable. A gem in the EVV!

Surprisingly tasty, fresh and beyond your run-of-the-mill-Evansville-type place to eat. Ordered the Southwest Egg Rolls, the Chicken Pesto, Mahi Mahi, BBQ and Steak tacos and the black beans. Everything was quite good. They make their own tortillas in house and you can tell the difference in packaged tortillas - they were great. A smidge over priced for the amount of food, but the quality is high. Will visit again.

The atmosphere created is A+. Love the outdoor seating area and it gives it a casual , but sophisticated setting. The food was just 'meh'. Knowing the items that come from Kanpai and CKB, I was expecting a little more on the flavor profiles. The chicken pesto taco was deelish! The taco salad was good, but didn't have anything special to it. I did think the price point for what we got was high as other reviewers have indicated. It is fairly new to opening so I hope to go back in a few months to see if they've worked out the kinks. At this point, the food fell a little short in my opinion, but I will go back to see if there is any improvement to the food.

Good. Tasty. Yeah it might be a touch pricy, but for those people Taco Johns is right next door practically. For the rest of you who like a little better give it a try.

The tacos here are delicious! It's nice to find a place that offers food that isn't the same old same old. I would recommend getting the 2 tacos and a side deal with the Mexican corn! And the beer is cheap! I definitely will be spending time on their patio this summer.

Cold food, overpriced, wait staff seemed to care less about customers and more about socializing with themselves. Please fix problems fast!!! Oh and the charge for chips and salsa!! Really??????

Had a fantastic lunch here. Me and my wife came in for a late lunch. We were greeted and sat promptly. Server was nice and smiling. Also shiuld mention we had our 9 month old and they were very accomodating. The owner was there and very pleasant. Now to the food! My wife had the steak taco and the powpow shrimp taco and loved them! I ordered the mahi mahi taco and steak Bleu cheese taco both were amazing. We loved them so much we ordered 2 more powpow shrimp tacos (my better half was raving so much I had to try it). Queso mac n cheese was really good. Will definitely be back. And to the people about price, we didn't find it pricey. We each had 3 tacos and a side item plus iced tea and spent 26$ and some change! The way I see it you get what you pay for. If they are too expensive for you hobble your butt across the lot to taco Johns and enjoy that crappy cheap taco. I'll stick with this place!

Had great meal, service last night. Arrived around 7 pm and we were seated quickly. Had an appetizer that had chips, guacamole, salsa and cheese dip and it was plenty for the three of us! Yes, the tacos are tortilla sized, but delicious. With drinks, a couple of beers for the hubby, bill only came to a tad over 40$. We will be going back, probably a lot!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
