In for late lunch on 11/19/11. Great decor, simple menu and great service. We both ordered soup, she French onion and me clam chowder. Our server brought a sample of spinach shrimp soup that was outstanding. Both our soups were excellent and hot. She had the mahimahi taco and I had the Cuba burger. Both were exactly as described and prepared as requested. Very good and I'm looking forward to returning soon. We did not sample the alcohol but the bar seemed well stocked. I was somewhat surprised that we were one of only two couples in the grill. C'mon Elkhart. Don't lose this gem without trying it at least once!

The Main Street burger is hands down the best burger I have ever had, definitely a must have.

This place is cool. Very over priced. Calamari was not good. Lunkers in edwardsburg is equivalent for 6.99. Ordered bulldog chop for $20.00. Seriously? If they lower prices 25-30% it's worth it.

Disappointed beyond belief went here with my wife for her bday had to order my beer twice because the server forgot. My wife was given 2 different types of wine for her meal but ordered the same. My burger was over done and the worst part is the fries had been attempted to be reheated after cooling u. The frys tasted like reheated grease won't go back

Very refreshing after the cesspool that is Harrisons. I experienced it on a Friday night. The live music was fun, the bartenders are nice.

My wife and I actually held our wedding reception here a few months back. We worked with Jaime, the head chef, to create some special entrees... Pork Osso Bucco and a Pecan Crusted Chicken with Maple sauce that Jaime recommended. It was all incredibly good! Jaime and his chefs did a great job with the food, and the staff did an incredible job with the service! They helped make it the memorable event that we wanted! As for our normal dining visits in the past, we've had a number of good experiences as well. The decor is modern and stylish. The bar is friendly and inviting with great wine and beer selections, and the food is typically top notch (although I have had a few "misses" in the past)! It really is a great place, and the outdoor dining can get hopping on a nice summer evening. Give 523 Tap and Grill a try!

What a pleasant surprise their food is! Appearance feels more like a simple cafe but the food was wonderful. Party of four and all were pleased with their meals. Top picks were meat and cheese appetizer (evening special), clam chowder (amazing), blue cheese burger and lobster& shrimp mac and cheese (another menu special). Friendly staff provides great service. We are all still talking about this meal today.

Good menu choices and friendly, courteous and knowledgeable wait staff. We performed our own rib-eye quest a couple years ago, and this place won it hands down. Unfortunately, went there last week, and the rib-eye just had too much rub and too much reduction sauce on it, smothering the taste of the meat. So disappointing. But, I am hanging in there with a 5 star rating - hoping it was a fluke. Excellent value for what I consider a high-end establishment. We bring our daughter there, and they are very nice and accommodating, but no children's menu - she can find an appetizer that works.

The atmosphere was charming, just what I expected for a small town. The dining area was clean, stylish, and reasonably quiet, enough to hold an intimate conversation with ease. The service was very good...kind and helpful without doting too much. We were seated quickly and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The decor seems appropriate for a restaurant in this sleepy little village...nothing too post-modern, but it is comfortable. It was a Friday night and seating was no problem. The crowd was mostly family and couples. The menu was creative, but simple. I had the NY Strip and potato. However, a surprising offering of duck in a 5 course special was listed and tempting. All in all, I felt the dining experience was an enjoyable one. The portions were perfect, the food was delicious and the value was appropriate.

My husband and I dined here earlier tonight. The atmosphere was cozy and quaint, the service top-notch. I ordered the Pasquale Penne, which I thought was on the bland side, but my husband LOVED his Main Street burger and fries. The pork soup that came with my dish was good and so was the crab cakes appetizer. Oh yeah, and the caramel apple martini was flavorful and strong. Definitely worth the visit.

We tried this place, and were pretty disappointed. The service was beyond slow and when we finally got our food, it was less than we expected. My boyfriend had to send his steak back to the kitchen so they could finish cooking it. He requested a medium and received a rather RARE steak instead. When I pay this much for a meal I expect the 'chef' to at least know his timing on a steak. I ordered fish, which was cooked well, but nothing spectacular. It was fun to try this restaurant out, but doubt I'll ever go back.

BEST filet minon I've had anywhere, including some high up Chicago and Vegas restaurants. The food is pricey, but I'd rather pay more for such an outstanding meal. Outside seating during warmer months is a bug plus!

A diamond in the rough!! This place is "CRAZY GOOD!" We were just passing thru and found this wonderful place. You have to try the spinach salad with the homemade warm bacon vinaigrette.....to die for! Also try the COCONUT RISOTTO!!! So good. A must if you are in the area.

Tried to eat here during the Elkhart Jazz Festival. Hours posted indicate they open at 11:00am. Arrived, tried to open the door and found it locked. A staffer opened the door a crack and rudely told us they open at 12:00pm. Change your sign or post a temporary one. Stopped in here a couple of years ago, and liked it. Will never return.

Nice atmosphere and reasonable wine list with some tasty options. Grouper was slightly overcooked, but had great flavor. Provolone appetizer was good but reminiscent of cafeteria mozzarella sticks and not worth $8. Blackened mahimahi was good. Server forgot to bring our bread basket and our silverware. Wish they would let you sub salads for an extra buck or two. Will go back for drinks and appetizers, or maybe a burger.

This was a pleasant discovery while visiting Elkhart for two weeks, and seems to be quite a departure from what most restaurants in the area offer. The interior was beautiful, well-designed, and nicely lighted; the service was quite competent and friendly; and the food was mostly quite good, though my "Mahi Mahi Taco Taco" entrée was a bit bland and seemed to need a bit more flavor to hold up to the other offerings. We will certainly be trying the restaurant again when we get the chance, and are happy to have an option like this that is quiet, friendly, chic, and offers more interesting fare -- with a good selection of wines, no less! -- than is usually on offer in the area.

The 523 Tap & Grill is a wonderful, small restaurant with a bar area located on south Main Street. They serve good food at a reasonable price. There's everything from salads to sandwiches to entrees. The service is attentive and courteous. It's tatefully deocrated and they incorporated the old tin ceiling into the scheme. A very pleasant experience.
