For some reason I feel really really guilty of writing a bad review of this place. Maybe it's because I'm from out of town and this is the first review. Anyway, take my review with a grain of salt, please. I was traveling from Michigan to Nashville, TN. I stop in Columbus because of it's oddity as a hidden architectural gem in the Midwest and it's about half-way in between. Jill's Diner is located in downtown Columbus just a few minutes off of I-65. The decor is that of a diner. It was not fancy at all. The walls were bare and unadorned. Everything in the restaurant was practical and served a purpose, nothing excessive to get in your way. The restaurant was clean. There was only one guy working. By "working" I mean that he was the host, server, cook and busser. He did it all. He wasn't the fastest guy but he was nice. Well, I got the meatloaf special. The meatloaf was good but it was served cold. It came with mashed potatoes that had like a dried out film on the outside, probably from sitting too long. I think the main problem was that I stopped at 2pm between the lunch and dinner crowd and it was just one man doing it all. It seems like a good place with a good menu. I'd try it again but I'd go during busier hours so hopefully it would be run better.

My new breakfast spot! You will find your typical breakfast food here, nothing fancy. But they do it well! Best pancakes I've ever had, bar none! Great prices and awesome staff! Reminds me of a little diner I went to as a little girl with my dad back home.

Classic Midwestern diner. Came here for Sunday breakfast/brunch. Great food, great service by a friendly staff and even better prices. Good coffee, too. Absolutely worth a visit.

Typical diner. My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy which he enjoyed. I had the sampler which came with eggs toast bacon and sausage and hashbrowns. I substituted the sausage for more bacon. The bacon had a different flavor to it, something about the way it was cooked I guess. The hashbrowns were tater tots so I was dissapointed about that. The prices were spot on for breakfast. You can try Jill's or not its up to you but if you dont go dont worry about missing anything spectacular.

OK, I'm a Chicago Yankee, so what do I know from biscuits and gravy? All I can tell you is that Jill's ties with Ole's in Alameda, CA for the best I've ever had. They're just different. Jill's is made with some very tasty high-quality pork sausage, and the gravy is delicious and peppery. If you've never been to Columbus, Indiana, suffice to say it's a planner's dream. I've never seen a place where the lines of new and old buildings are so well integrated. Definitely worth a visit.

The small town gossip and banter rolling through this place is reason enough to give it a visit. During our brief visit, the conversation topics ranged from "you should get a scooter. I roll around everywhere." to "I don't want no drama in my life. I'm in a really good place right now. I don't want no drama in here." In all seriousness, Jill's Diner is the epitome of an old time greasy soon diner. Visual: checkered floors, vinyl bar stools, booths, heart-stopping breakfasts for $5/$6 and white haired folk who visit on the daily (alright, alright, I'm guessing on this one but I'd be happy to bet money). My dining companion and I rolled in around 11:30 and opted for breakfast - biscuits and gravy for him (sawmill style with spicy sausage - plenty of gravy to go around or stop your heart) and for me, hashbrowns with scrambled eggs and toast. All were very standard. The hashbrowns were not the shredded type but the circular kind you'll find in high school cafeterias. Bottom line: -cheap -hearty -cozy and charming

Jill's Diner is a place where they know their regulars and welcomed the visitors. This local joint is quick, friendly, and extremely cheap. The most expensive item on their menu happen to be a fried shrimp basket for $6.99. Their menu had standard diner eats. While there is no gluten free menu, there are some items that are naturally GF; however, it is a shared grill and a high CC risk. Jill's did make a really good fried potato to accompany my eggs. If your looking for a fast and cheap meal and to experience Columbus like a local, Jill's Diner is a good stop during your visit.

This is what a small town diner should be. From the aesthetics to the clientele, this place is quintessential small town Indiana. The owners make food recommendations and my recommendation is that you listen to them! They won't steer you wrong. You can watch them make their burgers, tenderloins, and all the rest of their delicious and calories-laden dishes from your seat, while you catch up on local gossip.

Came to town for the Miller House tour. Food was really yummy. Vegetarian here and they had a great northern beans with a side of cornbread. So good I asked how to make the beans. Added fried potatoes and sliced tomatoes with cottage cheese and saltine crackers. Don't know when I last had saltine crackers! Everything was extremely satisfying. They were all out of pie so I had the hot fudge sunday they offered. What came out was ice cream with hershey's syrup, but it was still not bad at all. Friendly place with small time charm. Really like a trip back in time..in a good way.

Best breakfast in town! Good choices, perfectly prepared, friendly and welcoming service, coffee that is strong enough to taste like coffee, and sausage that tastes like they linked it in the restaurant.

I highly recommend stopping in for breakfast! I called in an order, she said 10 minutes and they were bagging it up when I walked two blocks to pick it up! The food was awesome, my order was correct, and it was hot and fresh! The service was great and the girls were friendly!! Even though they were closing soon, the food was still hot, fresh, and fast! Breakfast only on the weekends, but that's not a problem as their breakfast is great!! I will return and suggest more folks frequent local owned, awesome businesses!!
