If you could imagine a buffet that catered to homeless mentality ill people, then this would be it. Never have I been in a place so dirty, filled with foul mouthed degenerates. Even before we were seated, a brawl broke out in the lobby. I asked the person at the register if he was going to call the police....his reply was....this happens all the time! We should have left then, but went ahead and ate anyways. The buffet was dirty, almost all the food bins were empty, I was slipping and sliding in food spilt on the floor. Our table was nasty, unattended children were running and screaming everywhere. I can't believe I paid for such a horrible dining experience.

The good: food tasted good and there was enough variety. Kids loved it, especially unlimited desert. Bussing staff was polite and prompt. The bad: dining area is dirty, bathrooms are gross, several of the best items on the buffet were gone and stayed gone the whole time we were there. Would go again, but only for the kids sake.

My review won't win any awards for stand-up comedy. Let's proceed on the assumption that an attempt at unemotional, objective truth means more than schtick in any review worthy of the name. The quality of the facilities and the food at the Clarksville Golden Corral is standard. --Nothing spectacular, and probably not the place you'd go after an important event if you could afford better. --But a pleasant basic buffet spread for that lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon break from work and the kitchen. There is plenty of meat and vegetables on the hot table, and a more than serviceable dessert area. There is also a very small breakfast section they run the entire day, so they can make the advertising claim that you can get breakfast any time of the day at Golden Corral. (Just don't get your hopes up for this section, as it is often poorly stocked, and is sure to be over-grazed on any given day by patrons.) As to the oft-repeated refrain that this location is dirty, well, yes, kind of, and kind of not. The dining area is not one bit dirtier than any other public restaurant in this price range. It meets the fast food restaurant standard of cleanliness, at very least. But -- and this is a huge qualifier -- I will agree that the restrooms are so stinky and the floors so wet and icky-looking that they would have to be responsible for a psychological spill-over effect. When customers enter a restroom that reeks of solid waste, and looks as if the place has been given a final rinse down with a fluid other than disinfectant, it leaves a vile impression that projects onto the entire facility, from the restroom, through the dining area, and right out into the lobby. Most restaurant employees don't want to clean a restroom, nor do they try very hard to do a good job of it. Most restaurant managers are unaware the impression a filthy bathroom leaves. There's the mistaken idea that people psychologically divide the restroom off from the dining area and make no connection between the two areas. This is wrong, of course. When you leave a restroom within a RESTAURANT fighting back the gag reflex over the smells and the sights, of course you create rotten customer feeling. The managers of this particular Golden Corral need to wake up, own this basic factual truth, and clean up their restrooms. It doesn't matter how well-swept the carpet is, or how clean the plates or silverware are until you get the restrooms UNDER CONTROL As many of these reviews will attest, it also doesn't matter how good the food or service may be until you get the restrooms UNDER CONTROL. My three star rating may be too generous. The food is good. The dining area is clean. -- But oh man, those filthy, stinky restrooms...

A group of four of us and one child, 8 yrs old, decided to go to Golden Corral in Clarksville, IN (across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY) for dinner after a very long graduation ceremony for my nephew at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds. We were tired and we were hungry about 6 pm. So, we decided to go to Golden Corral for a variety of different dinner options. When we entered the restaurant, it was not crowded by the cash register. However, there was only one guy who was both serving drinks and handling the cash register. I had to ask him who was on the register so I could pay and he told me that he was and then came over to attend to me. As we walked to a table, I noticed how filthy the floor was. But, after a few minutes, our waitress came to sweep the floor after we got up to get our food. Several of the main items like chicken, shrimp, seasoned fries, and two different soups were not even available for at least 20 mins. However, they did have waffles (why?), pancakes (again, why?) and something between calamari and popcorn shrimp (I later discovered was okra! I hate okra! But, there it was.) So, I got some of the baked white fish, which was tender, moist and flaky. Brussels sprouts were tender without being soft. And, since they wash, slice, and mash their creamy mashed potatoes, they are always consistently creamy and wonderful with just the right amount of cream and butter added. The brown gravy and the poultry gravy are always smooth and delicious. The man who was cutting the ham, cooking waffles, and running the grill for the steak was exceptionally busy, but seemed able to Multi-task through each of these jobs. He told me that my med-rare steak would be ready in about four minutes (a very reasonable time to wait). The steak was tender and juicy with beautiful grill marks. The chicken, when it came out, was moist with a nicely browned, crispy exterior. But, I never did see any shrimp at all. Our waitress, Sherrell, an 11 yr. employee, was very attentive to our needs, albeit busy. She politely engaged in conversation with us, without taking her away from other customers and duties. I wanted to talk to manager, Jeremy, who I thanked for the service of Sherrell. I also commented about how dirty the floor was in most areas, but how Sherrell cleaned the floor area near our area when we got up to go get our food. But, I also told him that my wife and sister had found the condition of the women's restroom deplorable due to the smell of baby diapers, use, and toilet paper strewn about the floor. All in all, our visit from Columbus, OH, to Golden Corral in Clarksville, IN was fair. There were a number of things that needed to be addressed, but the food was good, although a lot of different foods were not readily available. I'd like to return again in a couple of months and see if any of these concerns have been addressed.

TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! There was no selection on the buffet, and of what of food they actually had it all looked disgusting. And looks do not deceive, it was disgusting. The chocolate fountain is a bacteria bowl. And I wouldn't even touch the bathroom door. The whole place is disgusting. We won't be returning.

Growing up going to buffets was always a treat if only for the mountain of food that awaited us. I remeber going to "Chuckwagon Buffet" and "Kings Table." The food was always good, but not always great. As I got older it seemed if the food quality at buffets tended to suffer more frequently. Places like Shoney's and Hometown buffet tended to just be "feed bags" for a growing overweight public... at least that was my attitude. That was until I found Golden Corral. The food has never disappointed. No matter which one you go to. This particular one has great service and great food. Unfortunately it's almost always packed (always a good sign of good service and quality). My only gripe is that they don't put out their little applewood grilled filet mignon more often. Those luscious little mouth watering streaks always put me on cloud nine. I could eat three of them if I could. The mashed potatos are made from scratch and taste like heaven. They always have roast beef that is succulant and full of flavor. Oh, and they have two deserts that I would die for. First is the bread pudding. At first thought, bread pudding sounds gross. But if you like cinnamon buns and vanilla pudding, this dish is roght up your alley. The next is a chocolate pie. There are no words to describe the filler in this pie.
