Met up with two friends for a weeknight dinner, service was exceptional and the food was on point. Even though we lingered well past settling our checks, the waitress was really friendly and never made us feel unwelcome at all, even getting us refills as we finished our visit. Ordered the chicken marsala on special with a generous house salad, honey mustard dressing made in house. Atmosphere and noise level were good for a conversational dinner. Sun King and Upland on draft. The croissants are perfection. Very good experience, just knocking off a star as they lost my reservation, but I'd still make a return visit if meeting friends.

Really nice place, I gave 4 stars maybe because they were a bit busier than usual, it was mother's day, so their service wasn't that good. The food is great, and I love their salad and croissant.

The directions to this location are terrible!!! I am pretty sure I did not arrive at the destination on 31!!!

Really like this place, menu is varied and food is good. Interior design is well done and wait staff is consistently professional. Whether you go for business lunch or with the family it's a solid place to eat.

Food and service has always been excellent! Spinach and artichoke dip is really good.

When you're an admitted barbecue snob, ordering ribs can be a dicey proposition at a restaurant that doesn't specialize in barbecue. I quizzed the server closely and was pleasantly surprised to find the ribs fall-off-the-bone tender (OK, that's no big feat) AND nicely smoked (this is a rarity anywhere but at a smokehouse). Beans were anemic. My wife had a delicious seafood dish (sorry - no clue what it was). A great experience overall!

Love Charleston's atmosphere and food. The restaurant lighting is so relaxing and attire is casual. This is a great place for date night or dinner out with friends. We had excellent service and the total evening was very enjoyable for all of us. Night out with wonderful friends for us and these were our choices for the evening. Everyone loved their choices. Their new Spinach & Chicken Waldorf Salad which is spinach and field greens, grilled chicken, raisins, apple, strawberries, egg, spiced pecans, sharp cheddar, sweet bacon vinaigrette - EXCELLENT!!! And of course let us not forget the croissants...worth the trip alone. Our friend ordered the Today's Fresh Fish which was grilled Mahi-Mahi served with seasonal vegetables and a nice house salad. Large fillet, flaky, moist and would definitely order again. Prime Rib with garlic mashed potatoes and a house salad. Would order again and the surprise was it was actually cooked perfectly. Ordered medium and was ACTUALLY medium and wasn't the end piece. Truly enjoyed! Chicken Piccata of course pan seared chicken then tossed with artichokes, asparagus, and tomatoes in a lemon caper butter sauce on angel hair pasta with zucchini, carrots, and broccoli. Little strong on the lemon flavor but still the best Chicken Piccata!!! Melts in your melt tender!! Highly recommend.

Went late on a Saturday night for takeout. Order cocktails and chicken fingers to nibble on while we waited. The chicken fingers was about an 8 of a chicken finger scale. They have SunKing Weemac on tap! that earned the first star right off the top! Bartender was friendly and helpful. Even though it was late we were both starving and he talked us into the prime rib. It came with a salad and side. The ranch dressing was drinkable! I also ordered the mushrooms which were good a tad salty. But the prime rib was so salty it was nearly inedible!! Took 2 bites and felt my blood pressure rising. Maybe it was punishment for ordering at 9:30 on a Saturday night.

I love this place! I have been to both Charleston's locations a few times and I'm not sure if there is anything to complain about! The decor is dark, warm and comfortable. The wait staff has always been friendly but not over-bearing. Glasses are never left sitting empty and empty plates are taken away immediately. As for the food, I can only review the salad and steaks on their dinner menu. I usually get the Center Cut Filet and every time it has been cooked to my specifications. It is always juicy and tender. The house salad that comes with your meal is always great. It is a simple salad but is done well. The salads also come with the most amazing buttered croissants you have ever tasted. They are flaky, warm and I wish they would just bring baskets of them to my table! The pricing is very moderate compared to other steakhouses in Indy, which is why I like this place. I don't have to take out a loan just to enjoy a lovely dinner! I believe that the most expensive thing on their menu is the center cut filet at about $24. Great place, great service, great food!

Unfortunately I can't rate my experience very high. The staff and servers are very friendly. The food, very mediocre. I wanted to try the tilapia but substitute mashed potatoes for the rice. I was told I couldn't. Huh? So I ordered the hickory burger instead. How can you screw up a burger? Well you can put limp canadian bacon, raw chopped onion and cold, unmelted cheese on it. Not only was it not appetizing, it was very bland. The menu is limited. I would hope other items on the menu are better, but I'm not going to take a chance and find out the next time I'm in Carmel for business.

Nice atmosphere, great low lighting. Good food and good service. Great place to go on a date or to take the family!! Menu is not really big but good and reasonably priced. Definitely will be back!!

We have been long time fans of Charlestons, but service levels have slipped recently. This was highlighted by my mother finding a pea sized piece of broken plate in her soup. While the waiter was apologetic and did offer an excuse, management did nothing to rectify the situation. At a minimum I think mgmt should have offered an apology and not charged her for the soup. I really think they should have not charged for her meal. They did neither. A little common sense would have gone a long way here. The apparent lack of caring, on both the service and food quality, has probably cost them a customer.

Charleston's has a smaller menu selection than some other local Carmel places like Woody's, but the food is consistently good and the ambiance is very nice--darker lighting, private booths, good service. My husband loves their baked potato soup.

I can not believe I'm the 1st to write about Charleston's! Well it's a very warm and friendly rest. with a small but select menu. The size of the menu dose not mean you can't find something good, IT'S ALL GOOD! The key to it all is the freshness of the product they put out and the highest quality! The bar is wood, glass, and brick with gas lights. The dining room is much the same with a open wood beam ceiling. The setting is split half tables and booths. There are two size on the booths which make it easy for 6 people in one. The food is a mix some of everything for ever taste. The plates are good size and they feed you not fool you. The soup, salads, sand. and stir fry too the steaks ALL are great so come in and find your favorite then try some more you will not be unhappy with any pick. The place is family friendly and if you would like a childless meal use the bar. I hope this sparks your interest and then you can write a review too! Remember to eat well and live well! And please no chains!

I'm surprised I didn't find more reviews for this location. Despite being a Saturday night, we were seated immediately. Great rolls with the salad. The 10 oz steak was a little under done, but because it was a good cut of meat, it still tasted great. The wait staff was very good, although one picked up a drink from oir table before my buddy could make sure all of the booze was licked off the ice - she should have asked if she could take the glass instead of picking it up as she walked by. Only 4 stars because of the undercooked steak.

I haven't been here for a while, however decided to take the wife and child for a nice meal. I ordered the chicken and ribs, wife hade the 14oz prime rib. My chicken and ribs were cooked to perfection. Chicken had a plentiful dry rub and slow cooked flavor. The ribs we're fall off the bone with very little fat and great smokey BBQ flavor. They also had an ample amount of BBQ sauce on them. We also ordered side salads and were impressed with the quality and amount of dressing and toppings along with the very tasty crescent role which accompanied it. I was very impressed with the desert that came with my daughters children's meal, it was clearly homemade ice cream on a chocolate chip cookie, excellent. My wife's prime rib was slow roasted with a rosemary seasoned crust served with a warm pink center and a flavorful au jus. I might suggest serving it with a little more horseradish as we had to ask for more. Wait staff was on top of it for the entire meal, plates were removed promptly and new glasses of tea showed up when glasses were 3/4 empty. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere, looking forward to my next visit.

I love Charleston's! Always have. Not once have I had a bad meal there, and at least 9 out of 10 times the service is good. My whole family tends to choose this restaurant as the place we celebrate meaningful occasions as we know we won't be disappointed. I usually get blackened Mahi Mahi and switch out the rice for the garlic mashed potatoes. I don't know why a former reviewer said they wouldn't do that for her, as they have always done that for me. The salads and rolls are amazing! The atmosphere is nice, too. A little on the dim side, but gives it a nice ambiance. Can't wait to go again!

We love this place! It is our go to celebratory restaurant. Service has always been excellent and we are always approached by management to see how our experience is. We have never had a problem making substitutions. There was one incident were my soup was overly salty, I was offered something else and was not charged for my soup. This restaurant has become the standard to which we compare other restaurants.

I went here for a company Christmas dinner this past December. It was delicious. The staff catered to our table and my drink was never empty. They were on top of their service. I got the roasted Chicken, it was amazing. Literally made my mouth water I would recommend this place to everyone!

Like other Charleston's locations, the menu is pretty uninspired, but if you're in the mood for this kind of restaurant (burgers, steaks, baked potato soup, chicken -- oh, and chicken fingers) this is not a bad choice. The side salad is a typical restaurant salad but quite good, and the fries are addictive. The restaurant is kind of dark. The service was excellent.

We met family for a late dinner while traveling home from a chess competition. The 8 and 10 year old were tired and hungry! The lighting is low and the atmosphere is casual. The service was superb and the food was excellent. My mom and I ordered the Champagne Chicken Salad. She remarked, "it's so fresh and fun to eat". Husband ordered the Sirloin and baked potato. I must have been immersed in my food because he had eaten it before I could sneak a piece of steak. He remarked it was "cooked to perfection". I was really pleased they had ribs on the kids menu. The ten year old whipped out a hair tie, pulled her hair back and devoured the perfect kids portion of ribs. The eight year old was exhausted, so went with the potato soup and cleaned the bowl. Our server kept our drinks full at every turn. The place was packed and 20 deep at the door on a Saturday night. Our food was prompt and hot. I would definitely return here and highly recommend. The prices were reasonable and much classier than most "chains". One last comment, I liked that the menu wasn't too complicated.

Hubby and I love this place. We seem to choose it when we can't decide on what we want to eat. The service is good and everything we've ordered has also been good. It's in the medium price range for us. Not too expensive but not cheap either. It's a great place to go for reliable service and great food!

Hubby and I went for our 10th anniversary dinner splurge. The food was fantastic! I especially liked the house dressing on my salad and the delicious croissant with honey drizzled over the top. It is more than you'd spend at your local chain but a very good place to go for a special occasion.

We have been here a few times over the past 5 years. Our last visit was a few days ago for lunch. The booth seats are comfortable. The service is always great. The food is pretty good. My husband absolutely loved the Ruben sandwhich. He said it was the best he had ever eaten. I usually get the Grilled Chicken and Avocado Club Sandwich when I go there and it is always excellent. I tried the mushroom swiss cheeseburger this time. I asked for it to be well done. They need to work on this a bit. Part of it was burnt and part of it had some pink in it. I think I will just stick to the Grilled Chicken Avocado Club Sandwich next time. They keep your drinks filled up and never even let them get half empty. I would continue to go and recommend this restaurant to others.

Excellent grilled fish, every time. Delicious, juicy roasted chicken. Spinach and artichoke dip was average, but the chips were delightful ... thin and crispy, not so heavy that you'd fill up on them. A good place to keep in the rotation.

Another great dinner! Charleston's has been a favorite of ours for years. It is one of those "tried and true" and "trusted" sort of places. It beautifully accommodates all kinds of gatherings. You can't go wrong if you choose it for your business lunch, your date night, entertaining out-of-towners or a get-together with some friends. Overall the atmosphere is really nice, although hands-down I prefer the bar area to the main dining. It is a more intimate space and not as noisy as the larger space. The service is usually good and meets all expectations. No complaints there. For me it is the food that really makes the place shine. What I love about it is that so much of it is made in house from the salad dressings (gotta get the creamy garlic), to the salsa, I love that you can't get the same thing anywhere else. Everybody LOVES the hot honeyed croissants that are served with salads, but what you might not know about is their smoked salmon. Since discovering it a few years back my husband won't order salmon anywhere else. "No comparison" he says and he is right. I believe they smoke it in-house themselves and the texture and flavor are unbelievable - moist, rich and succulent. Not bad for something that is actually good for you!! I'm not gonna lie, there are a few things they could work on in order to earn that 5th star. I've noticed the portion sizes and ingredients of the salad really shrink thru the years. It used to be much better when they diced the tomatoes instead of throwing on a few cherry tomatoes. Am I wrong, but didn't they used to put bacon on the salad too? Anyway, the changes to the salad haven't been great and I could do with a quieter experience when I do dine in the main seating area. On a busy night it is not the easiest place to carry on a conversation. And I can't forget the to-go orders that weren't right. To be fair, it has been a few years since I used to the to-go pick-up, but back in the day, I'd get it at least once a month and their were a few challenges there. But none of that overshadows the great things they are doing. Charleston's is a great dining choice. I highly recommend you make a visit even if the traffic patterns to get there isn't as easy as it once was. Cheers!

Westfield's neighborhood Charleston's has been around since the beginning of the construction of the 146th bridge. Before the 146th bridge, the road turned south along a path that runs through the location of the Charleston's, and headed to the intersection at US 31. The restaurant was celebrated as something nice and new, and it has remained one of the nicest restaurants in the area since then. The bar area is friendly and almost always busy, you can normally find a place to sit, or you can get a table in the bar area pretty quickly. Outside the bar is their main seating area, which is warm and fairly quiet, and still is a very nice place to gather your family. The current construction probably is hampering business a little, but they have survived the major construction so far. If dining in is not in the cards, their carryout is fast and friendly, and very accurate. I love their chicken club salad, and their potato soup is the best by far. Everything on their menu is great. Service is normally great but one tip for the servers.... don't touch my perfect margarita shaker. I got it. 5 stars because it deserves it.

My family and I have been coming here for years. I've tried about everything on the menu (except for the fish), and I find it all to be outstanding. Bob, the General Manager, is very personable, and he runs a very tight ship there. The wait staff is professional, courteous, and we have been lucky to get to know several of them through the years of coming here. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic, yet, it's still a good place to take kids. In fact, if you ask my 4-year-old and 7-year-old what their favorite place to eat, they'll both say Charleston's. We have video of my 4-year-old crying because we weren't going there one night. I look forward to my family continuing to go here for many years!

Was a huge charleston's fan until a recent visit where our waiter recommended the 'special' which was the sea bass. Three of us decided to take his advice. Maybe our fault for not asking how much it was....for one it's charlestons and we figured would be reasonable and in line with other menu items. WRONG. $37 a pop. Thanks but if I wanted a $40 entree I would go to a steakhouse...no comp which is fine just won't get my business again...

Hard to beat. Delicious meals. Great service. Be patient with wait time at the door. Good things come to those who wait.

Let me preface by saying that for quality and value received, Charleston's has always been near the top. The ribs, outstanding. However, having lived in Texas for several years, I wanted to sample their chicken fried steak. At $14.95 how could I go wrong? Well, I did. They definitely need to change vendors on this. I recommend whomever Chili's used to use before they dropped it off their menu. The crust seemed crispy, however, the meat was "CHEWYYYYY." Good chicken fried steak is fork tender. This was a chore even with a knife. Sitting heavy in my stomach. Oh well, guess I'll go back to the ribs next time.

Went here with my family, and the food was average. What ruined my experience, however, was that a server walking behind our table dropped a stack of glasses and one of the shards ended up lodged in my heel. Even though I was bleeding profusely and had to stumble to the bathroom, I wasn't so much as offered as bandage, let alone an apology. Despicable service.

It's a great lil restaurant. It's priced right and portions are pretty big. Their kids meal is pretty good and reasonable too.

We came with a large group (28). Not only did they seat us all close to each other, but they provided amazing service. To top it off, ALL of the food was good. I can tell you for sure because I tried everyone's meal around me. We also got appetizers and dessert. Break pudding = heaven. Prime Rib = rosemary blitz + slow roasted goodness. You can't go wrong here. Slightly more expensive then expected, but it was worth every penny.

I am not implying this is a 5 star restaurant, but they get 5 stars because they blew away my expectations. It reminds me of a Country Club dining experience minus the stuffy Country Club people, the monthly membership. Food taste, appearance, selection, service is all very good. Dont expect any foo foo stuff here. Just good american cuisine. I had chicken picatta and salmon here in the last month and they both were very good

I remember the very first time I came to Charleston's I remember it being a great experience and great food. But over the years I feel that they went from a 5 star to a high 2 star place. The last time I was there the service was very mediocre. They were not busy as we arrived just before the dinner rush. But the guy just didn't seem to care about anything. He talked very monotone and had no personality what-so-ever. Yes, my drink never went empty but you could at least act like you enjoy your job. The menu seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Every time I go it seems like the item or items that I really enjoyed the last time have been removed. And of course I don't memorize their names so it is hard to ask if they can still make it. They probably wouldn't though because this guy didn't care about anything. The food overall seems to have gone from great tasting to meh. For the price they charge for an entrée I expect a great tasting meal AND great service and it seems they just cant deliver that to me anymore. Its not horrible, don't get me wrong. But it just isn't a WOW place to eat at anymore. And seeing that I live on the southside of Indy and they are on the northside its a drive to go there and I'd rather go to places that wow me.

We always have great service and the food is always good! I am really glad the construction on 31 is done so we can actually get there now. I enjoyed the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. I love their carrots, I look forward to getting them with this dish, the perfect salty/sweet combo! The steak might have been a little harder to cut this time, but I had worked outside in the garden all day and my arms hurt. Plus it was still quite tasty! My husband had the Parmesan crusted chicken and he really enjoyed it as well. It comes with a nice tomato salad and a pasta side. I need to be better about trying something next next time, but always come back to my favorite dish.

A good environment tables at perfect elevation. Great staff baked potato soup was a 6/10 but the rest of the dinner was great I ordered the oven roasted chicken and it was cooked to perfection. Also had the brownie it was Devine but a little to much nuts.

Visited Saturday evening with my mother for her birthday. Our server was Becky. We had an EXCELLENT experience! Each of us ordered the smaller Prime Rib, baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes and a side salad. The side salad is yummy! Many servers stopped by our table to see how we were doing, fill out drinks, take away dirty dishes, etc. I appreciated that. This establishment is one of my favorites in the area. I can't say enough about them. From the excellent greeting you receive when you arrive to the moment you leave, the experience is top notch! Can't wait to return.

Sat in Bar area at a booth. Had the Chicken Sandwich with avocado and bacon. Was very good. Toast was done just right as was spice. Fries were thin cut and very good. My wife had one of the salads - was huge and she enjoyed it. Took a look in the dining room. Lot's of booths so if you like booths over tables, this would be a good place to go. Only complaint is that the bar didn't have a lot of tv's and sight lines to the existing tvs were very good. A couple more tv's would go a long way.

When I walk into a restaurant, I start asking myself questions. Do they greet you with a smile? (Or, do they greet you at all?). Is the menu so huge that it takes an hour to read it, or do they only try to do a few things well? Does the server refer to you as "Guys"? Do you have to beg for drink refills? (those should be automatic). Do you have to wait 30 minutes to get the bill? Charleston's is a happening place. The menu is relatively small, and that's a good thing. I had the 14oz Prime Rib, which was perfectly cooked and well presented. Even on a Monday night, the place was crowded, which is a good sign. Being that they're surrounded by a sea of casual dining competition, the fact that it's crowded says something about how they're doing. Word is out that this is a great place to eat.

Typically really really good. This includes service and food. Tonight not so much. First i ordered a Kale salad. It must be a bag Dole mix. They could not remove the green onions. I had to change my order. OK I went full on carnivore. A filet, med well, butterflied. It came out not butterflied and not even close to med well. It may have been med rare. Had to sent it back and she also took my potato. This left me nothing to eat whlie the rest of my party had food. Big no no as far as im concerned. Several times drink glasses were also left empty. Also a big no no in my book. Had the company not been enjoyable, the faux pas would have been much worse. Everyone has an off day.

Giving 4 stars because the service was amazing (we did go in during lunch on Sunday so it was slow) but the menu is pretty small and doesn't offer much variety. Food's good, not incredible.

I think this is one of the best restaurants in the state of Indiana. The food/service is consistently excellent. It is very clean and has a beautiful ambience. I highly recommend the hickory smoked BBQ ribs with french fries as that is my favorite dish. The porkchops, salads, and market fresh fishes are also outstanding. I do not think you will be disappointed eating here.

YUM!!! The food and staff were great! I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was delicious! The flavors were really fresh and the shrimp was cooked perfectly and de-tailed which was a nice touch! I also got the caesar salad and it came with a really tasty, sweet croissant! The food may have been a bit heavy on the ground pepper (many people in my party thought so as well) but it was still tasty. Next time I'm in the area, I'll visit again!
