Hilligoss donuts are such a treat. I can't think of any other donuts that are exactly like them. The dough has a great taste and consistency, with the perfect amount of glaze. They just melt in your mouth. My favorite is the jelly donut; my husband's favorite is the cake. Prices are great (especially compared to those hipster places cropping up charging $4 per donut!) Service is always friendly.

Best donuts around. Always fresh and always served to you with a smile. The variety is amazing but I'm a plain Jane glazed type of girl. I love when you bite into a donut and it makes a mess of your clothes. I recommend this place to all my friends to stop when they're driving through town. However I always have to remind them to grab some cash. However, I'm usually spending my spare change in this place because it's amazingly priced. Best part of my mornings is This bakery!

Hilligos is sweet, warm love by the dozen in a white cardboard box... locked down with a thin strip of tape! This hometown icon defines old school Saturday and Sunday morning pastries & donuts! But better still is the fact that it's friggen GREAT all the other days too! Be early and be cash-en & check-en only please.

With gourmet doughnut shops popping up all over Indianapolis, I feel like it's important to celebrate the bakeries that came first and made these delicious sugary pieces of dough the classics they are today. This bakery is one of the best in the Indy area and is worth the drive to the west side to check it out!

This is the best place to get fresh donuts & pastries. No comparison. Family owned business. Everything is made fresh daily. Once they sell all of the donuts, they are done for the day so you got to get there early or you're guaranteed NOT to get any donuts. Very friendly customer service. If you are nearby, this is a MUST!

Ventured outside the glazed yeast and tried the chocolate cream-filled. OMG...pillowy softness. I'm glad the filing isn't super rich, since the outside is covered in powdered sugar. Definitely found a new favorite.

The donuts and cookies are awesome! However, if you don't get here until noon there's a good chance there won't be any donuts left. I came in at 12:30 and there were 8 left: 2 with Easter sprinkles and 6 jelly filled. So, I bought some cookies (chocolate chip and Easter egg) and one donut. All were very tasty and fresh. If you're on the west side, go to Brownsburg for your sweet fried dough "needs"!!

OK! I have to admit moving from Texas, where there are mom and pop donuts shops on every corner, I was a bit upset that Dunkin Donuts seemed to be the only donut option in my neighborhood. But thanks to the wonderful reviews by my yelping friends I have found donut goodness at Hilligoss Bakery. First off I must say how much I appreciate walking into a business early in the morning and receiving a genuine smile and "good morning". (Admit it you have come across a crabby patty early in the morning and their attitude threw off your morning mojo!) Now on to the good bits.....Hilligoss Bakery has a fantastic display case of donuts, brownies, cookies, and muffins. Every item in the case looked so fresh and tasty. I had to stand drooling for a moment before I could decide which delicious morsel to choose. The donuts are so light and airy with a perfect glaze.

We walked in and saw a sign that said cash and checks only, glad we didn't get all the way to the front! We walked out and drove to an ATM and came back. It was packed on a sunday morning but they still had plenty to choose from. We liked all the options and although we were buying donuts for 10, we still have many more to try! I just wish they took credit :) Great place to stop and grab donuts in town!

Cash only and worth every penny. If Hilligoss was located next door to Long's, I'd be perplexed trying to figure out who was better... Tried a jelly, a Boston cream, and a cheese danish. The donuts beat the danish hands down. As a matter of fact, our donuts were 6am fresh - and it was noon. As donut-lovers, we were genuinely surprised. These filled donuts have a more compact size and not flat on top like some places. The jelly donuts remind me of high quality Polish paczki (punch key). Hilligoss are jelly-filled perfection. Didn't get a chance to try the coffee & was informed they don't make glazed croissants... so that search continues...

I've loved Hilligoss Bakery now for...gee whiz, I'm scared to say it... can it be 34 years? Have they been around THAT long? I know the actual building has changed, but... Oh well, does it matter? I blame my own mother for putting me on my first narcotic sugar high one day after walking to her office in downtown Brownsburg after having taken my drivers ed class during the summer of 1979. On her desk when I walked in was a bag of 2 vanilla cream filled donuts from Hilligoss -- not the custard filling, but that light, white sugar filling. Makes my mouth water just remembering it. I scarfed both of them down literally under 60 seconds, and at that time I became forever hooked on them. Time passes, you grow up, move away, find other things to obsess about. But I've never lost my love for those donuts. And as of this writing, Hilligoss is the only bakery in the country that I know of that still makes them; the same way they did way back when I first had them that sunny afternoon after learning how to parallel park. And every time I come back to Brownsburg I make it a point to get my hands on them, either from my still-complicit mom or at my own hand. Everything I've ever had at this bakery has been good, very good. If I could order Hilligoss donuts over the internet and have them delivered to me in Washington, DC, I'd do so. I'd attempt a Fedex delivery, but I doubt they'd make it intact -- no self-respecting delivery man would ever let them off the truck uneaten.

best donuts in America. Bold statement? Perhaps. The day I find better donuts I will amend this review. Chocolate and white cream filled are some personal favorites and I would do terrible things for a chocolate covered savannah

The best place for freshly made donuts! The people are so kind and friendly. The selection is great! My favorite is the sprinkled cake donuts. I love that the decorations change based off the season and holidays. My family gets Hilligoss donuts every weekend. One thing to remember though, CASH ONLY!

You know it is good when the locals are crowding. Great cup of coffee and the doughnuts rock.

I stopped in to Hilligoss Bakery on my way to church on a sunday morning at almost 11 am and the place was cleaned out! I ordered a large coffee, called the Highlander Grog (which was awesome!) and a glazed donut. Both were great, and I would love to come some time in the morning when the donuts are fresh!

There is no such thing as a bad donut here. Every donut is better than anything served at other places.

I got up this morning in need of some donuts so I jumped on Yelp and found this place. Very cute and easy to spot from Main Street I was excited when I pulled up. It wasn't crazy crowded for a Sunday morning, which I appreciated and the workers were very friendly and helped me choose which donuts to get. I got a regular yeast donut and a cinnamon caramel donut. They weren't bad, but they were a little dry. Almost as if they were yesterday's donuts that weren't sold so they were put back out for today. I just would have liked them to be a little more moist. The texture was the soft homemade taste that you find at good bakeries, unlike cake-type donuts you get at Dunkin. I'm sure I'll go back because I prefer to support local when possible, and it's the closest actual donut shop, that isn't a chain, to me in Avon.

Not what I expected. Coming from Ohio I was used to good bakeries just have not found one in Indiana. Donuts we're small and selection was under par. Not worth the drive.

I lived in Brownsburg for over 2 years and drove by this place nearly daily and never managed to make it in, despite hearing only good things....sad, I know. Thankfully, I still live nearby and finally made it over one Saturday morning while running errands in Brownsburg. It was pretty busy but the cases were very full still of lots of delicious treats and the staff was working fast to keep the lines moving and inventory stocked. I was so glad I had cash on me. I was overwhelmed by all the choices so I decided to ask the guy behind the counter for suggestions....let me tell you how my conversation went... Me: What would you recommend? Him: Do you have any food allergies? Me: No Him: Everything. Ok, awesome endorsement of the product but I was still lost so I just started picking random stuff, you can see from the pic all that we tried, we just brought them home. Everything was verryyyyyyy good. My husband and I agreed that the stand out was the chocolate cake doughnut, it was divine, so dense and moist and the flavor was perfect. I am not even a big cake doughnut person! I had mostly picked that one for the husband. I want to come here and get a bunch to share with my family soon, just gotta remember that it is not far from me and I gotta convince myself to get out of bed.

Wandered down to Hilligoss on Father's Day with the girls so they could "treat" their old man (me) to some doughnuts. I must say that I do love the space and the service was friendly and warm. Which is kind of what you expect from Brownsburg, but they live up to their reputation. Being Father's Day, I think they were "wiped out" by the time we arrived, so there wasn't a ton of variety, but the items we picked were delicious. I was partial to the chocolate frosted cake doughnuts myself. We will be back and hope to try some other of their creations soon. Good comfort food and a special treat.

I love Hilligoss so much! It is considered a treat for us though. They only take cash or check though both of which I never carry. You have to get there early because when they are out they are out. If you crave something you do not want to miss it. My kids love the holidays when they have the iced cookies. They are really rich donuts that can bust a diet in a minute but worth it! Don't ever leave Brownsburg!

Rolls! Their FRICKIN rolls! They are perfect! A must have for our holiday meals. They only sell them on Fridays and I would suggest ordering them in advance because they go quick! They dont accept credit cards so make sure you bring some cash. I have been getting their rolls for years but still havent tried anything else but I suspect they are awesome as well.

+3 stars for the donuts, -1 star for the service Tried them after seeing all of the great reviews but left disappointed. The donuts were not bad but they were not fantastic either. I tried several different ones but none of them really stood out. The thin
