This place is right beside a subway...soo all the poor college kids go there and all the professionals and teachers go here. This place has a good selection of food and I'd assume beer as well, but I was working. I had the turkey bacon sandwich. The bread was amazing, light and fluffy. The meat was good and bacon just right. It had a chipotle mayo on it that gave it just the right amount of bite with the melted cheese. I got chips as my side..nothing special just regular potato chips. Good service with a good overall atmosphere.

I discovered this wonderful invention called a calzone at the food court at my dining hall in Indiana, and I've been searching for the perfect one ever since. They're like pizzas in a hot pocket except more like a sandwich, but way juicier?!? I've been here twice, and while my friends loved the pizzas, I knew I had to try to calzones. I thought they were a fantastic value for their price, and I wasn't able to finish it in one sitting (I accidentally forgot 1/3 of mine the second time I went :/) My friend told me that Lennie's is usually filled with non-Midwest kids and locals, but I didn't feel like the vibe was much different than the other Bloomington restaurants. The cheese and meat plate here was hardly inspiring though, and I'd imagine you can get something of similar quality over at Kroger's. Still, think of the calzones! Lennie's is an inexpensive, convenient place to go for a casual meetup, and service has always been good on both visits. So far, its my favorite place to go for calzones. I went there for the highly recommended BLT. But it's a lunch special and I got there late. So I changed to order a BTM to go. It's delicious, judging from my Chinese taste. The turkey is a little too salty, but come on--turkey is salty in every restaurant here. It can't order in half like BLT, and is just too much for me. I tried hard to finish half of it. Also I ordered chips going with it while fries are what I really wanted. Pleasant service. I'll have the BLT next time. Oh by the way, I think I might make a mistake! I forgot tipping! Do people tipping when they have food taking out? I think I should make up for the waitress next time.

Today I revisited Lennie's for the first time in five years, when I lived in Bloomington and went regularly. Sure, the interior of Lennie's probably hasn't changed much since it opened 20 years ago, but that adds to the charm. The house salad with house dressing - a mix of vinaigrette with blue cheese crumbles - is unlike any salad I've had elsewhere, and I've honestly though about it on the regular for a half decade. The sandwiches are great, particularly the turkey and red chile chicken. And I love, love, love the strombolis. Lennie's is a lunchtime treat and for my money, one of my favorite restaurants just about anywhere.

OK, I was referred here and it was definitely worth the visit for this out-of-towner. I ordered the Monterey (I mislabeled my pic as the Santa Fe...oops) calzone/stromboli and some BBC brewed Biere De Mar. The food was very good and I surprised myself by finishing the whole stromboli and 3 of the beers. Now, while I consider the Biere De Mar VERY TASTY, I must warn you. I had the most awful gas the rest of the night. Like, wake me out of a dream it smells so bad, gas. In short, I would not consider this a "date beer" if you have plans for the night if you know what I mean. Luckily for anyone on planet earth, I did not have anyone trapped in my hotel room with me that night or I'm sure I would've had to make a trip to the ER (there is such a thing as airborne food/beer poisoning, right?). All of that aside, the food was good and, like onions and stinky cheese, I would drink that delicious beer again on a guy's night out. Parking sucks - deal with it.

Lennie's is basically the restaurant arm of the Bloomington Brewing Company. Make sure you go for "Hoppy Hour". You can't beat the $4 flats. Super crusty flatbread piled high with pizza toppings. Mmm...mmm.....good. The beers are excellent as well. They usually have about 10 of their own brews on tap so there's something for everyone in your party. The best part of Lennie's/BBC is that it's on 10th St. away from all the campus craziness so you get a lot of beer geeks and locals instead of your typical rowdy Kirkwood crowd. Service can be a little hare-brained at times, but what can you expect when you have college kids working there?

Lennie's - Bloomington, Indiana ... 4 stars: If you have someone at Indiana University, you'll eventually be touring through the Bloomington restaurants...here is a good one. Lennie's is primarily a pizza joint on 10th Street, just across the street from campus. If you are up for gourmet pizza or some of the other Italian entries, this is a good stop. Lennie's is also home to the Bloomington Brewing Company and their line of craft beers. Lennie's itself is the brewpub arm of the brewing company, and they are right next to each other. Originally founded by IU graduates, they continue to serve students and their parents with brunch/lunch/dinner all year round. Lennie's restaurant is split into two rooms...a dining room on one side for sit down eating and where all ages can be seated, and a pub/bar side where you have to be 21 to enter. Food is available on both sides. This is a popular place and gets crowded quickly on big campus days - like Freshman Weekend, Parents Weekend, all football games, etc. Good for families and even kids can find something they like on the menu. The food here is pretty standard American fare, but the pizzas do stand out. We had the Love Supreme which is basically a garbage pizza - pepperoni and sausage and stuff. The real shining spot though is The Original Sin dessert - a double scoop of ice cream on top of a very tender brownie with out-of-this-world hot fudge. The pizza and stuff are very nice...but don't miss the over-the-top Original Sin dessert. Situated in a little strip mall, you can sometimes find parking right out front...but parking can be hard to find because of the closeness to campus. Still this one is definitely worth the visit. You are within walking distance of many of the IU dorms and a main IU parking lot.

The beer selection is local (Bloomington Brewing Co.) and they have a nice variety and some standard selections. Lennies can get crowded for lunch, so be sure to plan ahead.

Kind of like a family-owned, local Applebee's. Good food and nice portions. But what makes it not an Applebee's is that the people are down-to-earth and welcome you like family.
I am not sure how this place got its 4 star rating, but we obviously ordered the wrong thing. We were in a hurry and having never been here before we thought it was like a sub shop or pizza parlor. It is more of a casual dining place that is not meant to be done in a hurry, which we were in a huge hurry. So I ordered two of the California Turkey Sandwiches to go and the first thing I noticed is they charged me $12 each for them when their website and menu says that they are $11.25 not a huge issue but we get in the car and start down the highway to an appointment we were going to be late for in Indy because it took 30 minutes to get those two sandwiches. It was hard to question anyone working at the bar because in the 30 minutes we were waiting they changed staff members 3 times. And at no time was there more than one of them there at a time. Finally I did ask and they went to the kitchen and immediately came back with our food which leads me to believe that it had been sitting for a while there. Those have to be on the top 5 of the worst sandwiches we have ever eaten. I honestly believe that cardboard would have had more flavor. And they hardly put any mayo on there which just made it even worse. So $25 for two sandwiches is a bit steep especially when Subway could have made me a much better sandwich and I hate Subway if that tells you anything. Needless to say I have no need or desire to return. But I wouldn't put a whole lot of weight into my opinion because who knows maybe we got the one thing on the menu that they just cannot do well. Had I been dining there those sandwiches would have went back to the kitchen.

I have been to Lennie's a handful of times since moving to Bloomington. I love that they always have some sort of unique offering, although I usually stick to the calzones or sandwiches. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered, but it hasn't been out-of-this-world delicious. I don't drink much alcohol, so the homemade root beer is a hit for me. I took off a coiple stars for a couple of reasons. The ambiance is not really my style. It can quickly feel cramped when there are a lot of people. I have also been seated directly under the air conditioning several times, but in different parts of the restaurant, so I have often been uncomfortably cold. I only go here when someone else suggests it, never at my own suggestion. All in all, if someone suggests going here I am in, but the food isn't all that outstanding.

Lennie's is a wonderful, consistent restaurant, ideal for introducing family and friends to when they are visiting Bloomington. Unfortunately, many students and Bloomingtonians pretty much feel the same way, so Lennie's can get pretty busy during prime evening and weekend hours (especially during major event weekends). My favorite things about Lennie's: - Veggie Ciabatta sandwich = my most-ordered item, w. fresh mozz, olive relish, basil pesto & other perfectly-correlated ingredients; - Build your own calzone, w. mandatory pesto dipping sauce; - Beautiful, flavorful Spinach & Artichoke torta appetizer; - Huge-arse salads (hard to choose a favorite, but love the Gorgonzola Caesar for a different take on a cliche salad); - The Blue Apple pizza w. Granny Smith apples, gorgonzola, bleu cheese & walnuts, plus other creative pizza choices; - Mini-dessert offerings at the end; small enough that you don't feel guilty partaking; - BBC beer brewed onsite, so you can support the local craft beer scene. Service is good, but can get stretched during the extremely busy times. The parking lot is cramped and competitive, especially when school is in session; just park a bit further away and enjoy the beautiful campus walk. Beyond these minor inconveniences, you will find dishes at Lennies to satisfy both you and your dining mates, no matter their levels of pickiness or food-snobbery, and you get to experience a unique, local restaurant. Highly recommended.

I'm not going to lie the food was good, but just not great. My friends and I ate here for lunch we tried the chicken chili sandwich, the turkey bacon sandwich, the Lennies special and the Charcuterie platter to start all three suggested by many many yelp reviewers however I was disappointed in what you actually get for the price you're paying. I paid 64 dollars including tip for 3 sandwiches and an app, the sandwiches, served with plain ruffles chips aren't worth that sort of money. I will say the wait staff were very nice and the service was definitely fast but it was very subpar. Now I will say the beer selection is amazing so they do have that going for them I guess. If you're looking for a 12 dollar subpar sandwich then this is your place for sure otherwise I say eh...I've had better.

One of mine and my husbands favorite spots in town! Although the parking lot, and restaurant, are small, we've never had to wait to get a table for the two of us. When we go for brunch, we wouldn't dare order anything but the chicken and waffles. They are absolutely to die for! At dinner time, we usually share a thin crust pizza, with white sauce and chicken...also excellent! The wedge salad with thousand island dressing is really great, but large. For dessert...the brownie sundae is something you should leave room for! It is AMAZING! Warm brownie on bottom, vanilla ice-cream, hot fudge, caramel, and chocolate shavings on top. Yum! On the beer side, we are craft brew junkies so we love their brews, but especially the Quarrymen.

This is a great little spot. Several BBC and other microbrews on draft (and root beer for the little ones). Our waitress made a great tip based on my preferences. She was well versed in all their offerings. As other reviewers have noted, a wide variety from easy drinking to hoppy IPA's, whatever your preference is, you'll find a couple that will meet your liking. Be sure to check the chalkboard for the specials. They do a really good clam chowder, also have some rotating and seasonal items that are worth going off the menu and onto the special of the day. So the regular menu is a nice mix of salads (which are very good sized) sandwiches (which can also be made a wraps), pizzas and stroms. Good variety in each category with the requisite "build your own" option in pizza and stroms alike. The Monterrey Strom is a nice twist with a jalepeno kick- and with BBQ sauce is a unique twist. My colleague said it was really a nice combination of flavors. I had a tilapia sandwich made into a wrap. Really good blend of flavors here too, with a little spicy kick and the wrap was not too heavy, but just right. We skipped desert this time, but if you've saved up your calories or your sweet tooth needs to be satisfied, Lennies has you covered. The Original Sin is the dessert you've been looking for. Plan to share it, but it is chocolate upon chocolate upon chocolate. Order the coffee with it, locally roasted and you'll have the perfect ending. I've hit Lennies several times, and it is another go-to for me to take out of town guests for a lunch, or to meet up with contacts on campus. The parking lot is a bit small, but I have always found a place to park. Yes, it's a little hole in the wall on a crowded street right in the middle of IU's residence halls, but well worth the stop to check it out and enjoy the local flavors.

Lennie's is a restaurant I can't stop coming back to. It's a great one to stop in at for some local brews, or any meal of the day, as they also have weekend brunch. But be prepared - many, many people have the same thought and there can be a lengthy wait for dinner at times. The bar side is a faster option if you don't mind eating where it's a little louder and on a high-top table. My personal favorite on the menu is the create-your-own calzone. Their pre-determined options are also good too! I'm a fan of the pasta dish as well as many of their salads. Their portions are insane and you can almost guarantee leftovers, so don't mind the price. It might look like a dive from its strip mall location, but that shouldn't deter anyone from trying this gem!!

My friends found this place through where else, YELP! So, we decided to check it out. We found it tucked back into a little plaza just before the skies decided to open up! With our names in for a 30 minute wait, we sat there and enjoyed the aromas of the pizza and tried to decide what we would order. We started with the Wild Beet Spinach Salad and there was plenty for the three of us to share. I opted for the build your own pizza and got the multigrain crust, with the white sauce. I think I would get the red sauce next time, but other than that, it was pretty good. Our waiter was very accommodating and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. There was a serious storm going on outside and their lights flickered a few times, but he never once pressed us to leave. .

Lennie's hands down has the best wings in town. They're huge, meaty, cooked to perfection and bathed in a great buffalo sauce. If I want wings, it's Lennie's or nuthin'. There are also great salads...Caribbean Ahi Tuna with Plaintains and a hefty Spinach Salad that is best with the Hot Bacon dressing...vinegary, bacony goodness. Get the extra bacon to amp up the pork factor. I only do the gluten free pizza option (I'm intolerant) so no beer, sandwiches or strombolis for me...though my memory of JM's favorite strom is that it's mind-blowing and a huge portion...like a pizza folded up and baked. The gluten free pizza is okay...the crust is more biscuity than pizza, so it never really scratches the itch. One of my favorite things about Lennie's is the Mini Indulgences desserts, a shot-glass size of goodness like Chocolate Mousse, Key Lime Pie or various cheesecakes. It's the perfect size for a little something sweet without totally blowing your diet (do that with the chicken wings!). There really is something for everyone at Lennie's, from soups to salads to pizzas and pasta entrees. One of my favorite places in Bloomington!

I've been there five times in the short time I've lived in Bloomington, simply because I can't imagine a better place to have an evening beer and some really delicious, satisfying food. They manage to make salads as tasty and comforting as your mom's home cooking, and though I'm a cheeseburger addict I've always been more than happy with their meatless sandwiches. They use fresh ingredients and know how to handle spices and sauces. The space itself is really cool, especially the bar--you get a nice and colorful view of the brewery. The staff is really friendly, helpful and generous--the first time I went there, the waiter recommended a place to go dancing; the second time, the waitress was the happiest person on the planet (Kelly, I think) ; the third time, I got a free root beer sample, etc. The ambiance is casual but not unorganized, and the beer is delicious.

Lennie's is a two-sided restaurant, with a smallish dining room area on the left and a brewpub/bar area on the right, but full food/drink service in both. The food is good here in most cases. I have always been a fan of their pizzas and strombolis, but they have healthier fare as well. Some of the entrees are off the beaten path, but there are plenty of traditional sandwiches and other standards as well. Despite being right across from a couple of dorms, the crowd here is generally much older than other places this proximal to campus. Lennie's also houses the Bloomington Brewing Company, and they offer a lot of fine beers. Try the Quarryman - an excellent pale ale. My wife and I like coming here when we're with friends.

I've been dining at BBC/Lennie's since 1999. I have watched their beer prices go from $3.50 to now $6.00. If you stop in for 2 beers and leave a buck tip on each one you spend $14. You can buy a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada or New Belgium for the same price. The beer is good, I really like the stout. They used to make a good blonde but they don't anymore. Usually a very good wait staff, especially on the brewery side. I cant understand why they have some of the highest beer prices in town when they make their own beer. It costs a lot less to make beer than to buy beer, so that frustrates me. The food is very good, top notch. Good salads, apps, calzones and Great Pizza. I don't have any complaints about this place at all except I miss Floyd's brewing and the recent price hike in January makes me frown. If you want to come here for a couple beers and dinner, be ready to drop $40 - $50 including the tip and tax. For just one person. Your best bet is to split a small pizza with one other person. The house salad is a great starter. If you eat meat, the chili is quite good. I wish it was made with bison, but I think it is made with grass fed beef which is nice.

I celebrated some very special occasions at Lennies and they never let me down. I used to come here ALL the time (too much probably) but it wasn't my fault--the food was too good. My favorite entree is the stromboli. I think I got their Spinach & Artichoke Torta every single time I ever came. Love this place.....the Bloomington Brewing Company beer is also top notch. We go to Lennie's often for lunch and dinner and have loved their great food. Recently, we went for their Sunday Brunch. Each of us ordered something different and we loved all of it. The chicken and waffles was the best I have ever had, made with their special Ruby Bloom amber ale syrup. The egg sandwich was full of fresh ingredients and stacked as tall as a club, and the Stromlette was the perfect way to eat an omelet in a pie. YUM! The wait staff was very helpful, attentive and kind. We look forward to going back and taking our friends.

The food is outstanding. My favorites are the Mushroom Chicken Tortellini and the Bacon Turkey Melt, but the pizza (thin crust, especially) is also great. The beer is amazing; the Ruby Bloom Amber Ale alone is worth a trip. They also offer a great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The aren't a ton of options, but it's all delicious (chicken and waffles, y'all!). The regular menu is available during brunch as well. The bar side is especially fun; lots of friendly regulars, and no televisions. I wish more bars were TV free. The parking situation leaves a LOT to be desired; if you show up during the dinner rush, it's sometimes impossible to get a parking spot. Service is generally good-to-great. I highly recommend it, but try to get there during deader times.

I have been going to Lennie's since it opened in 1994... It's always been great... The menu has a great variety and you cant really pick the "wrong" thing.. The Stromboli combos they have put together are all great, but I do love building my own as well. Pizza options are awesome and lots of combos as well featuring locally sourced meats, including the Loesch Farm pork products.. As for other options, awesome salads, including long standing favorite the Turkey Tortilla.... And appetizers are pretty outstanding with some of my favorite buffalo wings in the area. The one thing I might like to see is more dessert options, however I never have room for dessert anyway so its a moot point really. Now for the Beers.. I absolutely love The Quarrymen Pale Ale on Nitro tap, where they dont use the normal CO2 to give the beer the bubble... It comes out smooth and creamy like a glass of good milk. Ruby Bloom is a favorite as well. There seasonal beers are always interesting and they are constantly trying new things like a Kolsch and Cream Ale for the lighter beer drinkers... That being said seasonal beers break my heart sometimes cause when they go they are gone for the season... And finally the staff and management are professional, friendly and fun and they always seem to remember that you are their guest in their restaurant and make sure you feel welcome. Go try it and see.. there is a reason it has been around this long!

Lennie's is a smaller place in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Once you're inside, you find a very attractive and comfortable place. Menu consists of sandwiches, salads, pizza, and more. To be honest, the menu isn't really my style - the quality of every item I eat is fantastic - delish - I just tend to stick to a few items, as I'm not adventurous in some of the same ways Lennie is. As for recommendations - the JM Stroboli is amazing. Really truly amazing. So is the french onion soup. Served in a big/tall bowl, it's great. Most of the sandwiches are 'fancy' meaning they don't fit my 'can I just have turkey and cheese with nothing else' lifestyle. They can do T&C but I feel like Sally in When Harry Meets Sally when I change everything up. Those who eat the other fancier stuff rave about it. It's a great spot for a lunch meeting or quiet dinner.

5 stars for the beer alone-- they had no less than 3 hoppy beers on tap (2 IPA's & a pale, all amazing). On our visit they also had their stout THREE WAYS (in one TINY microbrewery!)- Cask, Nitro & C02... rarely do you get to really appreciate the difference between these different carbonation methods & here it happened in this unassuming restaurant in an unlikely corner of Bloomington way up there in an otherwise unremarkable part of 10th street. We had salads (it had been a long day of boozing & eating), but they were excellent & we could not have been more happy with the friendly bartender. He had just come from a Cornhole tournament in Terre Haute (where we were heading, so he could tell us the bridge on 46 wasn't out any more) & while servers generally stare with baffled disdain when Dad asks if they have "mullens dressing", this kid grew up where they make that dressing & talked to us about it. So charming) I bet parking could be hell- we got there at 4pm on a Thursday & had no problem, but it's a tiny lot (literally across the street from campus) & the place was PACKED when we left at 5:30. This will be a Must Visit whenever we're in Bloomington from here on out-- they've got it all figured out & it shows.

Good brews. Great beer selection. Food overall is average at best. Let's be honest, under-seasoned and plain, but not in a good way. It just falls short. The more correct complaint is that the food input quality (aside from the pizza) does not reflect the price charged. Example: wedge salad, traditional iceberg lettuce, fresh, ok, with two cherry tomatoes and a splash of Sysco-ish blue cheese dressing. Think cheap wedding. Stick with the pizzas and beer. Sandwiches, salads, and pasta: beware.

As a constantly failing, wanna-be vegetarian, I really enjoyed that there were a couple of original, yummy sounding vegetarian options. And let's not forget that Lennie's tries to use local, organic ingredients! I chose the grilled cheese with spinach and chutney. It was great, and not just for those avoiding meat! I do have a thing for chutney on sandwiches though... Lennie's brews their own beer, and you can fill up your growler with some to take home! I was a bit skeptical when my boyfriend ordered a pitcher of the Java Porter, which A) sounds sketchy B) was one of the few beers listed without having won a ton of awards, but it was great! Very well-balanced, not too dark, full of flavor, but not overwhelming. Try it.

I've had pretty positive experiences with the food at Lennie's. The tuna in the Caribbean Ahi Tuna Salad was very good. This is actually a decent spot for brunch; the breakfast Stromboli is fantastic, and they also offer a breakfast pizza with a fried egg on top. I am not impressed with the beer here at all. The Java Porter has a strange burnt quality to it, the Blonde Ale is flavorless, and despite it's "medals", the Big Stone Stout is nothing special. In general, all of the beers that I have sampled here are lacking complexity and taste diluted. I also tried the stout from the engine pull nitro tap; I actually thought this made it worse. There isn't much to the decor inside. From the bar, you can see inside to the fermentation tanks, which is kind of cool. Overall, Lennie's is a decent spot to eat, but if you have any standards for the flavor of your beer, you are likely to be disappointed.

Lennie's is pretty good. I feel like it's the place to go when Yogi's just isn't classy enough for you anymore. At that point just pick up and head on down the street. I've had the cheese and meat plate which isn't that special and can be easily made at home. What I've been getting a lot however is the Lennie's Original. This roast beef sandwich with bacon and all sorts of other goodies is my new meal of choice. It's pretty good and filling. Plus it comes with a cucumber salad. Not too bad in my book. The biggest downside to here is the parking. I think I've been five times and each time I seem to be lucky enough to find the last space in the lot. So if you need to be there at a specific time, I'd recommend getting to the lot a few minutes early.

I love this place...the portions are fantastic and the food is extremely good. It is a micro-brewery, and though I am not a beer drinker, they tell me that it was really great. The Calzones here are the thing to get...no that is not true, really. The fact is that if you see something on the menu that sounds good to you, get it...because it will be wonderful It is really hard to narrow it down to one or two great items because they are all good. The only complaint I have about this place is that it is small and almost impossible to get seated when Indiana University is in session...but it is worth the wait if you can handle it. Every time I have been there, I have had a delightful waitress, great food, great prices...what more can you possibly ask for.

My husband and I had lunch at Lennies on (9-25-09 2pm) and wow! 5 stars! Our waitress Annie did an awesome job. I ordered mushroom and chicken torillini and it was just the way I remembered- salivating goodness! My husband ordered a calzone and loved it, (although on the menu it was called a stromboli). Food was great, sangria sweet and delicious, waitstaff excellent. After we drove off, I made a personal phone call back to Lennie's to talk to the manager and tell him what a great time we had. After telling the manager he seemed genuinely appreciative of me calling. Great Job Lennies and the next time I visit home, I will def. be stopping for Lennies!

Honestly, no. I am not feeling the love here. Good beers and ales, but the rest, sorry, no. Overpriced, not great food, strictly strip mall ambience, from the suspended ceiling to the 80's fixtures to the fake "oak" trim. Take some of the proceeds from the overpriced food, and give the place a makeover. I had the "Cajun" crab cakes, and what a huge disappointment! it was a soggy slap of mayonnaise and not a lumb or chunk of crab anywhere-- just mush, and could have been cat food mixed with mayonaisse, for this flavor and texture. Maybe it saw a grill, or a pan, but I"m not convinced. Unbelieveable. No better was the cream of chicken soup I ordered, which tasted only of the diced red pepper liberally throughout -the crock- who does that to cream of chicken soup? And why? Why not call it "Cajun" cream of chicken soup, if you want to put your own twist on it (and why would you? to justify the price?). My husband's sandwhich was ok, but that's the best that could be said,and it was an expensive sandwhich. We spent $10 for each kid's meal, which is extreme ($2.50 for a fountain lemonade? why?), and not that great -- they got a cheese "flat" which is a pizza, and it was bland and unremarkable, and not worth $7.00. It neither looked nor tasted appealing. We had to ask for the crayons, which they got around to bringing much later. If you go here, prepare to wait... wait for a table, wait to get your order taken, wait for your food to arrive, wait to see someone to ask for the crayons from, wait for the crayons. The only good part was the beer, and it's simply not worth spending a ton of cash in a strip meal for mediocre food to go with it. What's with the pretentiousness of this place? 2 adults, 2 kids, $60, and noone was happy. Go to Yogi's, spare yourself the high prices and pretense.

It's always great to have brewpub options, especially in such a small town as Bloomington. Given this, it was easy to forgive the relatively limited beer selection. I had the pale ale, which was offered on a nitro tap and an engine pull. I haven't been to any brewpubs that offer such options and it was a bit of an interesting discovery process to learn how differently the same beer can taste, depending on the how its served. For that reason alone, it was worth the visit. Otherwise, the food was decent pub fare, but certainly nothing remarkable. The menu is not worth describing in detail, although there are no burgers on the menu and the seasoned fries were a bit salty (watch out). Luckily the serving sizes were plentiful -- a necessity for a college town.

I prefer Lennies to Upland for a couple of reasons. 1 - Although Upland typically has a better variety of beers that are of overall higher quality, Lennie's Big Stone Stout and Quarryman's IPA on nitro can't be beat by anything at Upland. 2 - Although the menu is not as big, the pizza is much better than anything at Upland. 3 - The atmosphere is much more relaxed. That being said, it is a tad on the expensive side, but as I said, it's worth it. But if you don't really care for Stout, Pale Ale, or pizza, then you should go to Upland. I'm sure I don't have too much to add that is of news. The beer was very good (I had the stout). We had the caprese appetizer, and it was excellent with huge slices of tomato and chunks of mozz. The chili was supposed to be spicy, and maybe it was, but since I like spicy it was simply good. One great item is the gluten-free pizza crust. We had the California on this crust and I'd definitely get it again. The avo seemed extraneous, but not unwelcome. The stromboli is more of a calzone in my book, but that may be just a technicality. Will definitely hit this place a few more times. Well worth a visit.

Great place that deserves automatic respect for being the first of the two brewery pubs in Bloomington. I tried the beer sampler and here's how I rank them: 1. Big Stone Stout (rich and tasty - can't go wrong) 2. Ruby Bloom Amber (solid amber but nothing amazing) 3. Quarrymen Pale Ale (good pale, but there are better) 4. Vision Weiss (summer seasonal, pretty weak) 5. FreeStone Blonde (almost undrinkable, don't try it) Oh, I almost forgot, I also had the Cascade Hops cask ale which was fantastic. If they have that on tap, go for it. While I came primarily for the beer, I was almost more impressed with the food. Takes traditional pub grub to a new level. Homemade, fresh ingredients made my and my girlfriend's sandwiches very delicious. Despite what another poster wrote, I thought there was plenty of food, and it didn't make you feel weighed down with grease and processed chemicals like certain chain restaurants. Service was quality - friendly, but professional. If you're looking for a casual place for some good food and beer, this is one of Bloomington's best choices.

Being from the East Coast I make it a point when dining in Bloomington to never order seafood. I have been spoiled by fresh seafood and cannot stand sub-par seafood. Having said that I decided to try the Ahi Tuna Salad one night and it was actually really great. Tuna quality was similar to what I would expect from a nice restaurant from NYC so I was quite impressed. Also, split the blue crab dip with a friend which was delicious. Nice an meaty and we had to fight each other for the last bite. On another note, the parking lot is kind of small and there really is no street parking available close by as it is on the IU campus and located next to several dorms. So watch out for that on busy nights. Also, I have been there a handful of times and I can recall two times in particular where the waiter/waitress charged me and my friends for the wrong thing or a different price than what's on the menu. So read your receipt.

Meh, I've been to Lennies several times and am generally underwhelmed each time. All of the pastas are really bland and over spiced (avoid the Jamaican Jerk Chicken one at all costs). The salads are really good, but last time I went they were out of romaine lettuce and tried charge me $12.00 for a iceberg lettuce salad....I don't think so. The beer is selection is great but the prices are way too high for the quality of food.

My favorite restaurant in Bloomington, I go there every time I go back to visit. The house salad is amazing with red onions that they marinate themselves. I've never had a bad meal there. I really love their stroms, but they're quite large and often too much food. Pizza is always a good option but I usually opt for the bacon/ turkey melt sans bacon. This would be a 4-star in a big city, but in Bloomington, it gets 5-stars. I also used to work at this place when I was in college, and I'm STILL giving it 5 stars which means the kitchen is clean, they don't pee in the salad dressing, etc., at least not when I was there. Anyways, I would second the vote on the marinated red onions and also their salads overall. I've had practically every one and they are always fantastic. Very fresh, large, and you get a nice doughy slice of bread with them. Their sandwiches are quite good as well but can be a bit messy, i.e. they are so loaded they tend to fall apart. Lennie's has expanded their menu in to pastas and more "gourmet" fare and that's cool, but I just stick to the sandwiches, stroms, and pizzas and never go wrong. Also a couple people have knocked the service: the cool thing about Lennie's is the wait staff isn't in cheesy uniforms and they actually seem to have a personality. I personally have never had a bad experience there and there are a few staff who have been working there for years: the sign of good management.

***RAVE REVIEW!!!*** When my partner and I visit Bloomington, we usually stop here to eat first thing before going on to where we're going to visit. When we leave Bloomington, eating at Lenny's is also the last thing we do. This is one of the few places anywhere where I tell people who are going to be visiting that they MUST eat at a particular restaurant. Their French onion soup is absolutely to *die* for! We've eaten there since 1992 and frankly haven't had anything we haven't absolutely LOVED!

Great beer, fresh food, usually tastes quite good. The spinach beet salad and the calzones are always a hit. Their dessert "indulgences" are a great idea - just enough dessert to satisfy, but not so much that it's another meal in itself. I recently had a sub-par zucchini quiche there, but this was an unusual occurrence. The service is good, the prices are reasonable, and the place has nice ambiance. The only downside is that parking is often very hard to find in that tiny little lot.

Small place, close to campus, great food. That about sums it up...but I'll keep doing. This place is right beside a subway...soo all the poor college kids go there and all the professionals and teachers go here. This place has a good selection of food and I'd assume beer as well, but I was working. I had the turkey bacon sandwich. The bread was amazing, light and fluffy. The meat was good and bacon just right. It had a chipotle mayo on it that gave it just the right amount of bite with the melted cheese. I got chips as my side..nothing special just regular potato chips. Good service with a good overall atmosphere.

I discovered this wonderful invention called a calzone at the food court at my dining hall in Indiana, and I've been searching for the perfect one ever since. They're like pizzas in a hot pocket except more like a sandwich, but way juicier?!? I've been here twice, and while my friends loved the pizzas, I knew I had to try to calzones. I thought they were a fantastic value for their price, and I wasn't able to finish it in one sitting (I accidentally forgot 1/3 of mine the second time I went :/) My friend told me that Lennie's is usually filled with non-Midwest kids and locals, but I didn't feel like the vibe was much different than the other Bloomington restaurants. The cheese and meat plate here was hardly inspiring though, and I'd imagine you can get something of similar quality over at Kroger's. Still, think of the calzones! Lennie's is an inexpensive, convenient place to go for a casual meetup, and service has always been good on both visits. So far, its my favorite place to go for calzones. I went there for the highly recommended BLT. But it's a lunch special and I got there late. So I changed to order a BTM to go. It's delicious, judging from my Chinese taste. The turkey is a little too salty, but come on--turkey is salty in every restaurant here. It can't order in half like BLT, and is just too much for me. I tried hard to finish half of it. Also I ordered chips going with it while fries are what I really wanted. Pleasant service. I'll have the BLT next time. Oh by the way, I think I might make a mistake! I forgot tipping! Do people tipping when they have food taking out? I think I should make up for the waitress next time.

Today I revisited Lennie's for the first time in five years, when I lived in Bloomington and went regularly. Sure, the interior of Lennie's probably hasn't changed much since it opened 20 years ago, but that adds to the charm. The house salad with house dressing - a mix of vinaigrette with blue cheese crumbles - is unlike any salad I've had elsewhere, and I've honestly though about it on the regular for a half decade. The sandwiches are great, particularly the turkey and red chile chicken. And I love, love, love the strombolis. Lennie's is a lunchtime treat and for my money, one of my favorite restaurants just about anywhere.

OK, I was referred here and it was definitely worth the visit for this out-of-towner. I ordered the Monterey (I mislabeled my pic as the Santa Fe...oops) calzone/stromboli and some BBC brewed Biere De Mar. The food was very good and I surprised myself by finishing the whole stromboli and 3 of the beers. Now, while I consider the Biere De Mar VERY TASTY, I must warn you. I had the most awful gas the rest of the night. Like, wake me out of a dream it smells so bad, gas. In short, I would not consider this a "date beer" if you have plans for the night if you know what I mean. Luckily for anyone on planet earth, I did not have anyone trapped in my hotel room with me that night or I'm sure I would've had to make a trip to the ER (there is such a thing as airborne food/beer poisoning, right?). All of that aside, the food was good and, like onions and stinky cheese, I would drink that delicious beer again on a guy's night out. Parking sucks - deal with it.

Lennie's is basically the restaurant arm of the Bloomington Brewing Company. Make sure you go for "Hoppy Hour". You can't beat the $4 flats. Super crusty flatbread piled high with pizza toppings. Mmm...mmm.....good. The beers are excellent as well. They usually have about 10 of their own brews on tap so there's something for everyone in your party. The best part of Lennie's/BBC is that it's on 10th St. away from all the campus craziness so you get a lot of beer geeks and locals instead of your typical rowdy Kirkwood crowd. Service can be a little hare-brained at times, but what can you expect when you have college kids working there?

Lennie's - Bloomington, Indiana ... 4 stars: If you have someone at Indiana University, you'll eventually be touring through the Bloomington restaurants...here is a good one. Lennie's is primarily a pizza joint on 10th Street, just across the street from campus. If you are up for gourmet pizza or some of the other Italian entries, this is a good stop. Lennie's is also home to the Bloomington Brewing Company and their line of craft beers. Lennie's itself is the brewpub arm of the brewing company, and they are right next to each other. Originally founded by IU graduates, they continue to serve students and their parents with brunch/lunch/dinner all year round. Lennie's restaurant is split into two rooms...a dining room on one side for sit down eating and where all ages can be seated, and a pub/bar side where you have to be 21 to enter. Food is available on both sides. This is a popular place and gets crowded quickly on big campus days - like Freshman Weekend, Parents Weekend, all football games, etc. Good for families and even kids can find something they like on the menu. The food here is pretty standard American fare, but the pizzas do stand out. We had the Love Supreme which is basically a garbage pizza - pepperoni and sausage and stuff. The real shining spot though is The Original Sin dessert - a double scoop of ice cream on top of a very tender brownie with out-of-this-world hot fudge. The pizza and stuff are very nice...but don't miss the over-the-top Original Sin dessert. Situated in a little strip mall, you can sometimes find parking right out front...but parking can be hard to find because of the closeness to campus. Still this one is definitely worth the visit. You are within walking distance of many of the IU dorms and a main IU parking lot.

I've been to Lennies on several occasions and have not been disappointed. Lennies offers good lunch specials and the food is delicious. The beer selection is local (Bloomington Brewing Co.) and they have a nice variety and some standard selections. Lennies can get crowded for lunch, so be sure to plan ahead.

Saturday brunch is awesome. The French toast is delicious, and the "stromlette" ain't too shabby, either. The French toast was of the crème brûlée variety: very eggy, very moist, and very delicious. Rivals that of Uptown's, and in Indy, Zest. Stromlette comes with a nice variety of choices. Crust was perfect: a bit crunchy, a bit chewy, and not soggy at all. Fried chicken and waffles are sublime. Service was great: prompt & friendly, which is nice considering we were in a bit of a hurry. The local art adorning the walls, the beer facility, and the beer itself are all reasons to come back.

I am not sure how this place got its 4 star rating, but we obviously ordered the wrong thing. We were in a hurry and having never been here before we thought it was like a sub shop or pizza parlor. It is more of a casual dining place that is not meant to be done in a hurry, which we were in a huge hurry. So I ordered two of the California Turkey Sandwiches to go and the first thing I noticed is they charged me $12 each for them when their website and menu says that they are $11.25 not a huge issue but we get in the car and start down the highway to an appointment we were going to be late for in Indy because it took 30 minutes to get those two sandwiches. It was hard to question anyone working at the bar because in the 30 minutes we were waiting they changed staff members 3 times. And at no time was there more than one of them there at a time. Finally I did ask and they went to the kitchen and immediately came back with our food which leads me to believe that it had been sitting for a while there. Those have to be on the top 5 of the worst sandwiches we have ever eaten. I honestly believe that cardboard would have had more flavor. And they hardly put any mayo on there which just made it even worse. So $25 for two sandwiches is a bit steep especially when Subway could have made me a much better sandwich and I hate Subway if that tells you anything. Needless to say I have no need or desire to return. But I wouldn't put a whole lot of weight into my opinion because who knows maybe we got the one thing on the menu that they just cannot do well. Had I been dining there those sandwiches would have went back to the kitchen.

I have been to Lennie's a handful of times since moving to Bloomington. I love that they always have some sort of unique offering, although I usually stick to the calzones or sandwiches. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered, but it hasn't been out-of-this-world delicious. I don't drink much alcohol, so the homemade root beer is a hit for me. I took off a coiple stars for a couple of reasons. The ambiance is not really my style. It can quickly feel cramped when there are a lot of people. I have also been seated directly under the air conditioning several times, but in different parts of the restaurant, so I have often been uncomfortably cold. I only go here when someone else suggests it, never at my own suggestion. All in all, if someone suggests going here I am in, but the food isn't all that outstanding.

Lennie's is a wonderful, consistent restaurant, ideal for introducing family and friends to when they are visiting Bloomington. Unfortunately, many students and Bloomingtonians pretty much feel the same way, so Lennie's can get pretty busy during prime evening and weekend hours (especially during major event weekends). My favorite things about Lennie's: - Veggie Ciabatta sandwich = my most-ordered item, w. fresh mozz, olive relish, basil pesto & other perfectly-correlated ingredients; - Build your own calzone, w. mandatory pesto dipping sauce; - Beautiful, flavorful Spinach & Artichoke torta appetizer; - Huge-arse salads (hard to choose a favorite, but love the Gorgonzola Caesar for a different take on a cliche salad); - The Blue Apple pizza w. Granny Smith apples, gorgonzola, bleu cheese & walnuts, plus other creative pizza choices; - Mini-dessert offerings at the end; small enough that you don't feel guilty partaking; - BBC beer brewed onsite, so you can support the local craft beer scene. Service is good, but can get stretched during the extremely busy times. The parking lot is cramped and competitive, especially when school is in session; just park a bit further away and enjoy the beautiful campus walk. Beyond these minor inconveniences, you will find dishes at Lennies to satisfy both you and your dining mates, no matter their levels of pickiness or food-snobbery, and you get to experience a unique, local restaurant. Highly recommended.

I'm not going to lie the food was good, but just not great. My friends and I ate here for lunch we tried the chicken chili sandwich, the turkey bacon sandwich, the Lennies special and the Charcuterie platter to start all three suggested by many many yelp reviewers however I was disappointed in what you actually get for the price you're paying. I paid 64 dollars including tip for 3 sandwiches and an app, the sandwiches, served with plain ruffles chips aren't worth that sort of money. I will say the wait staff were very nice and the service was definitely fast but it was very subpar. Now I will say the beer selection is amazing so they do have that going for them I guess. If you're looking for a 12 dollar subpar sandwich then this is your place for sure otherwise I say eh...I've had better.

One of mine and my husbands favorite spots in town! Although the parking lot, and restaurant, are small, we've never had to wait to get a table for the two of us. When we go for brunch, we wouldn't dare order anything but the chicken and waffles. They are absolutely to die for! At dinner time, we usually share a thin crust pizza, with white sauce and chicken...also excellent! The wedge salad with thousand island dressing is really great, but large. For dessert...the brownie sundae is something you should leave room for! It is AMAZING! Warm brownie on bottom, vanilla ice-cream, hot fudge, caramel, and chocolate shavings on top. Yum! On the beer side, we are craft brew junkies so we love their brews, but especially the Quarrymen.

This is a great little spot. Several BBC and other microbrews on draft (and root beer for the little ones). Our waitress made a great tip based on my preferences. She was well versed in all their offerings. As other reviewers have noted, a wide variety from easy drinking to hoppy IPA's, whatever your preference is, you'll find a couple that will meet your liking. Be sure to check the chalkboard for the specials. They do a really good clam chowder, also have some rotating and seasonal items that are worth going off the menu and onto the special of the day. So the regular menu is a nice mix of salads (which are very good sized) sandwiches (which can also be made a wraps), pizzas and stroms. Good variety in each category with the requisite "build your own" option in pizza and stroms alike. The Monterrey Strom is a nice twist with a jalepeno kick- and with BBQ sauce is a unique twist. My colleague said it was really a nice combination of flavors. I had a tilapia sandwich made into a wrap. Really good blend of flavors here too, with a little spicy kick and the wrap was not too heavy, but just right. We skipped desert this time, but if you've saved up your calories or your sweet tooth needs to be satisfied, Lennies has you covered. The Original Sin is the dessert you've been looking for. Plan to share it, but it is chocolate upon chocolate upon chocolate. Order the coffee with it, locally roasted and you'll have the perfect ending. I've hit Lennies several times, and it is another go-to for me to take out of town guests for a lunch, or to meet up with contacts on campus. The parking lot is a bit small, but I have always found a place to park. Yes, it's a little hole in the wall on a crowded street right in the middle of IU's residence halls, but well worth the stop to check it out and enjoy the local flavors.

Lennie's is a restaurant I can't stop coming back to. It's a great one to stop in at for some local brews, or any meal of the day, as they also have weekend brunch. But be prepared - many, many people have the same thought and there can be a lengthy wait for dinner at times. The bar side is a faster option if you don't mind eating where it's a little louder and on a high-top table. My personal favorite on the menu is the create-your-own calzone. Their pre-determined options are also good too! I'm a fan of the pasta dish as well as many of their salads. Their portions are insane and you can almost guarantee leftovers, so don't mind the price. It might look like a dive from its strip mall location, but that shouldn't deter anyone from trying this gem!!

My friends found this place through where else, YELP! So, we decided to check it out. We found it tucked back into a little plaza just before the skies decided to open up! With our names in for a 30 minute wait, we sat there and enjoyed the aromas of the pizza and tried to decide what we would order. We started with the Wild Beet Spinach Salad and there was plenty for the three of us to share. I opted for the build your own pizza and got the multigrain crust, with the white sauce. I think I would get the red sauce next time, but other than that, it was pretty good. Our waiter was very accommodating and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. There was a serious storm going on outside and their lights flickered a few times, but he never once pressed us to leave. .

Lennie's hands down has the best wings in town. They're huge, meaty, cooked to perfection and bathed in a great buffalo sauce. If I want wings, it's Lennie's or nuthin'. There are also great salads...Caribbean Ahi Tuna with Plaintains and a hefty Spinach Salad that is best with the Hot Bacon dressing...vinegary, bacony goodness. Get the extra bacon to amp up the pork factor. I only do the gluten free pizza option (I'm intolerant) so no beer, sandwiches or strombolis for me...though my memory of JM's favorite strom is that it's mind-blowing and a huge portion...like a pizza folded up and baked. The gluten free pizza is okay...the crust is more biscuity than pizza, so it never really scratches the itch. One of my favorite things about Lennie's is the Mini Indulgences desserts, a shot-glass size of goodness like Chocolate Mousse, Key Lime Pie or various cheesecakes. It's the perfect size for a little something sweet without totally blowing your diet (do that with the chicken wings!). There really is something for everyone at Lennie's, from soups to salads to pizzas and pasta entrees. One of my favorite places in Bloomington!

I've been there five times in the short time I've lived in Bloomington, simply because I can't imagine a better place to have an evening beer and some really delicious, satisfying food. They manage to make salads as tasty and comforting as your mom's home cooking, and though I'm a cheeseburger addict I've always been more than happy with their meatless sandwiches. They use fresh ingredients and know how to handle spices and sauces. The space itself is really cool, especially the bar--you get a nice and colorful view of the brewery. The staff is really friendly, helpful and generous--the first time I went there, the waiter recommended a place to go dancing; the second time, the waitress was the happiest person on the planet (Kelly, I think) ; the third time, I got a free root beer sample, etc. The ambiance is casual but not unorganized, and the beer is delicious.

Lennie's is a two-sided restaurant, with a smallish dining room area on the left and a brewpub/bar area on the right, but full food/drink service in both. The food is good here in most cases. I have always been a fan of their pizzas and strombolis, but they have healthier fare as well. Some of the entrees are off the beaten path, but there are plenty of traditional sandwiches and other standards as well. Despite being right across from a couple of dorms, the crowd here is generally much older than other places this proximal to campus. Lennie's also houses the Bloomington Brewing Company, and they offer a lot of fine beers. Try the Quarryman - an excellent pale ale. My wife and I like coming here when we're with friends.

I've been dining at BBC/Lennie's since 1999. I have watched their beer prices go from $3.50 to now $6.00. If you stop in for 2 beers and leave a buck tip on each one you spend $14. You can buy a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada or New Belgium for the same price. The beer is good, I really like the stout. They used to make a good blonde but they don't anymore. Usually a very good wait staff, especially on the brewery side. I cant understand why they have some of the highest beer prices in town when they make their own beer. It costs a lot less to make beer than to buy beer, so that frustrates me. The food is very good, top notch. Good salads, apps, calzones and Great Pizza. I don't have any complaints about this place at all except I miss Floyd's brewing and the recent price hike in January makes me frown. If you want to come here for a couple beers and dinner, be ready to drop $40 - $50 including the tip and tax. For just one person. Your best bet is to split a small pizza with one other person. The house salad is a great starter. If you eat meat, the chili is quite good. I wish it was made with bison, but I think it is made with grass fed beef which is nice.

I celebrated some very special occasions at Lennies and they never let me down. I used to come here ALL the time (too much probably) but it wasn't my fault--the food was too good. My favorite entree is the stromboli. I think I got their Spinach & Artichoke Torta every single time I ever came. Love this place.....the Bloomington Brewing Company beer is also top notch. Fill those growlers Hoosiers! You are smart to walk to Lennies, you will leave a bit drunk and having ate way too much food, I assure you!

We go to Lennie's often for lunch and dinner and have loved their great food. Recently, we went for their Sunday Brunch. Each of us ordered something different and we loved all of it. The chicken and waffles was the best I have ever had, made with their special Ruby Bloom amber ale syrup. The egg sandwich was full of fresh ingredients and stacked as tall as a club, and the Stromlette was the perfect way to eat an omelet in a pie. YUM! The wait staff was very helpful, attentive and kind. We look forward to going back and taking our friends.

The food is outstanding. My favorites are the Mushroom Chicken Tortellini and the Bacon Turkey Melt, but the pizza (thin crust, especially) is also great. The beer is amazing; the Ruby Bloom Amber Ale alone is worth a trip. They also offer a great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The aren't a ton of options, but it's all delicious (chicken and waffles, y'all!). The regular menu is available during brunch as well. The bar side is especially fun; lots of friendly regulars, and no televisions. I wish more bars were TV free. The parking situation leaves a LOT to be desired; if you show up during the dinner rush, it's sometimes impossible to get a parking spot. Service is generally good-to-great. I highly recommend it, but try to get there during deader times.

I have been going to Lennie's since it opened in 1994... It's always been great... The menu has a great variety and you cant really pick the "wrong" thing.. The Stromboli combos they have put together are all great, but I do love building my own as well. Pizza options are awesome and lots of combos as well featuring locally sourced meats, including the Loesch Farm pork products.. As for other options, awesome salads, including long standing favorite the Turkey Tortilla.... And appetizers are pretty outstanding with some of my favorite buffalo wings in the area. The one thing I might like to see is more dessert options, however I never have room for dessert anyway so its a moot point really. Now for the Beers.. I absolutely love The Quarrymen Pale Ale on Nitro tap, where they dont use the normal CO2 to give the beer the bubble... It comes out smooth and creamy like a glass of good milk. Ruby Bloom is a favorite as well. There seasonal beers are always interesting and they are constantly trying new things like a Kolsch and Cream Ale for the lighter beer drinkers... That being said seasonal beers break my heart sometimes cause when they go they are gone for the season... And finally the staff and management are professional, friendly and fun and they always seem to remember that you are their guest in their restaurant and make sure you feel welcome. Go try it and see.. there is a reason it has been around this long!

Lennie's is a smaller place in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Once you're inside, you find a very attractive and comfortable place. Menu consists of sandwiches, salads, pizza, and more. To be honest, the menu isn't really my style - the quality of every item I eat is fantastic - delish - I just tend to stick to a few items, as I'm not adventurous in some of the same ways Lennie is. As for recommendations - the JM Stroboli is amazing. Really truly amazing. So is the french onion soup. Served in a big/tall bowl, it's great. Most of the sandwiches are 'fancy' meaning they don't fit my 'can I just have turkey and cheese with nothing else' lifestyle. They can do T&C but I feel like Sally in When Harry Meets Sally when I change everything up. Those who eat the other fancier stuff rave about it. It's a great spot for a lunch meeting or quiet dinner.

5 stars for the beer alone-- they had no less than 3 hoppy beers on tap (2 IPA's & a pale, all amazing). On our visit they also had their stout THREE WAYS (in one TINY microbrewery!)- Cask, Nitro & C02... rarely do you get to really appreciate the difference between these different carbonation methods & here it happened in this unassuming restaurant in an unlikely corner of Bloomington way up there in an otherwise unremarkable part of 10th street. We had salads (it had been a long day of boozing & eating), but they were excellent & we could not have been more happy with the friendly bartender. He had just come from a Cornhole tournament in Terre Haute (where we were heading, so he could tell us the bridge on 46 wasn't out any more) & while servers generally stare with baffled disdain when Dad asks if they have "mullens dressing", this kid grew up where they make that dressing & talked to us about it. So charming) I bet parking could be hell- we got there at 4pm on a Thursday & had no problem, but it's a tiny lot (literally across the street from campus) & the place was PACKED when we left at 5:30. This will be a Must Visit whenever we're in Bloomington from here on out-- they've got it all figured out & it shows.

Good brews. Great beer selection. Food overall is average at best. Let's be honest, under-seasoned and plain, but not in a good way. It just falls short. The more correct complaint is that the food input quality (aside from the pizza) does not reflect the price charged. Example: wedge salad, traditional iceberg lettuce, fresh, ok, with two cherry tomatoes and a splash of Sysco-ish blue cheese dressing. Think cheap wedding. Stick with the pizzas and beer. Sandwiches, salads, and pasta: beware.

Lennie's is a pretty solid food option when you've got a hunger for something hearty. As a constantly failing, wanna-be vegetarian, I really enjoyed that there were a couple of original, yummy sounding vegetarian options. And let's not forget that Lennie's tries to use local, organic ingredients! I chose the grilled cheese with spinach and chutney. It was great, and not just for those avoiding meat! I do have a thing for chutney on sandwiches though... Lennie's brews their own beer, and you can fill up your growler with some to take home! I was a bit skeptical when my boyfriend ordered a pitcher of the Java Porter, which A) sounds sketchy B) was one of the few beers listed without having won a ton of awards, but it was great! Very well-balanced, not too dark, full of flavor, but not overwhelming. Try it.

I've had pretty positive experiences with the food at Lennie's. The tuna in the Caribbean Ahi Tuna Salad was very good. This is actually a decent spot for brunch; the breakfast Stromboli is fantastic, and they also offer a breakfast pizza with a fried egg on top. I am not impressed with the beer here at all. The Java Porter has a strange burnt quality to it, the Blonde Ale is flavorless, and despite it's "medals", the Big Stone Stout is nothing special. In general, all of the beers that I have sampled here are lacking complexity and taste diluted. I also tried the stout from the engine pull nitro tap; I actually thought this made it worse. There isn't much to the decor inside. From the bar, you can see inside to the fermentation tanks, which is kind of cool. Overall, Lennie's is a decent spot to eat, but if you have any standards for the flavor of your beer, you are likely to be disappointed.

Lennie's is pretty good. I feel like it's the place to go when Yogi's just isn't classy enough for you anymore. At that point just pick up and head on down the street. I've had the cheese and meat plate which isn't that special and can be easily made at home. What I've been getting a lot however is the Lennie's Original. This roast beef sandwich with bacon and all sorts of other goodies is my new meal of choice. It's pretty good and filling. Plus it comes with a cucumber salad. Not too bad in my book. The biggest downside to here is the parking. I think I've been five times and each time I seem to be lucky enough to find the last space in the lot. So if you need to be there at a specific time, I'd recommend getting to the lot a few minutes early.

Lennie's is one of my favorite restaurants in Bloomington. They have great pizza, calzones (they call them strombolis), and I love the garlic focaccia appetizer. Lennie's houses the Bloomington Brewing Company so they have great beer. On our most recent trip, I enjoyed the double hopped pale ale. The dining room fills up quick, so expect to wait for a table, but it's worth it.

I love this place...the portions are fantastic and the food is extremely good. It is a micro-brewery, and though I am not a beer drinker, they tell me that it was really great. The Calzones here are the thing to get...no that is not true, really. The fact is that if you see something on the menu that sounds good to you, get it...because it will be wonderful It is really hard to narrow it down to one or two great items because they are all good. The only complaint I have about this place is that it is small and almost impossible to get seated when Indiana University is in session...but it is worth the wait if you can handle it. Every time I have been there, I have had a delightful waitress, great food, great prices...what more can you possibly ask for.

My husband and I had lunch at Lennies on (9-25-09 2pm) and wow! 5 stars! Our waitress Annie did an awesome job. I ordered mushroom and chicken torillini and it was just the way I remembered- salivating goodness! My husband ordered a calzone and loved it, (although on the menu it was called a stromboli). Food was great, sangria sweet and delicious, waitstaff excellent. After we drove off, I made a personal phone call back to Lennie's to talk to the manager and tell him what a great time we had. After telling the manager he seemed genuinely appreciative of me calling. Great Job Lennies and the next time I visit home, I will def. be stopping for Lennies!

Honestly, no. I am not feeling the love here. Good beers and ales, but the rest, sorry, no. Overpriced, not great food, strictly strip mall ambience, from the suspended ceiling to the 80's fixtures to the fake "oak" trim. Take some of the proceeds from the overpriced food, and give the place a makeover. I had the "Cajun" crab cakes, and what a huge disappointment! it was a soggy slap of mayonnaise and not a lumb or chunk of crab anywhere-- just mush, and could have been cat food mixed with mayonaisse, for this flavor and texture. Maybe it saw a grill, or a pan, but I"m not convinced. Unbelieveable. No better was the cream of chicken soup I ordered, which tasted only of the diced red pepper liberally throughout -the crock- who does that to cream of chicken soup? And why? Why not call it "Cajun" cream of chicken soup, if you want to put your own twist on it (and why would you? to justify the price?). My husband's sandwhich was ok, but that's the best that could be said,and it was an expensive sandwhich. We spent $10 for each kid's meal, which is extreme ($2.50 for a fountain lemonade? why?), and not that great -- they got a cheese "flat" which is a pizza, and it was bland and unremarkable, and not worth $7.00. It neither looked nor tasted appealing. We had to ask for the crayons, which they got around to bringing much later. If you go here, prepare to wait... wait for a table, wait to get your order taken, wait for your food to arrive, wait to see someone to ask for the crayons from, wait for the crayons. The only good part was the beer, and it's simply not worth spending a ton of cash in a strip meal for mediocre food to go with it. What's with the pretentiousness of this place? 2 adults, 2 kids, $60, and noone was happy. Go to Yogi's, spare yourself the high prices and pretense.

It's always great to have brewpub options, especially in such a small town as Bloomington. Given this, it was easy to forgive the relatively limited beer selection. I had the pale ale, which was offered on a nitro tap and an engine pull. I haven't been to any brewpubs that offer such options and it was a bit of an interesting discovery process to learn how differently the same beer can taste, depending on the how its served. For that reason alone, it was worth the visit. Otherwise, the food was decent pub fare, but certainly nothing remarkable. The menu is not worth describing in detail, although there are no burgers on the menu and the seasoned fries were a bit salty (watch out). Luckily the serving sizes were plentiful -- a necessity for a college town.

I prefer Lennies to Upland for a couple of reasons. 1 - Although Upland typically has a better variety of beers that are of overall higher quality, Lennie's Big Stone Stout and Quarryman's IPA on nitro can't be beat by anything at Upland. 2 - Although the menu is not as big, the pizza is much better than anything at Upland. 3 - The atmosphere is much more relaxed. That being said, it is a tad on the expensive side, but as I said, it's worth it. But if you don't really care for Stout, Pale Ale, or pizza, then you should go to Upland. I'm sure I don't have too much to add that is of news. The beer was very good (I had the stout). We had the caprese appetizer, and it was excellent with huge slices of tomato and chunks of mozz. The chili was supposed to be spicy, and maybe it was, but since I like spicy it was simply good. One great item is the gluten-free pizza crust. We had the California on this crust and I'd definitely get it again. The avo seemed extraneous, but not unwelcome. The stromboli is more of a calzone in my book, but that may be just a technicality. Will definitely hit this place a few more times. Well worth a visit.

Great place that deserves automatic respect for being the first of the two brewery pubs in Bloomington. I tried the beer sampler and here's how I rank them: 1. Big Stone Stout (rich and tasty - can't go wrong) 2. Ruby Bloom Amber (solid amber but nothing amazing) 3. Quarrymen Pale Ale (good pale, but there are better) 4. Vision Weiss (summer seasonal, pretty weak) 5. FreeStone Blonde (almost undrinkable, don't try it) Oh, I almost forgot, I also had the Cascade Hops cask ale which was fantastic. If they have that on tap, go for it. While I came primarily for the beer, I was almost more impressed with the food. Takes traditional pub grub to a new level. Homemade, fresh ingredients made my and my girlfriend's sandwiches very delicious. Despite what another poster wrote, I thought there was plenty of food, and it didn't make you feel weighed down with grease and processed chemicals like certain chain restaurants. Service was quality - friendly, but professional. If you're looking for a casual place for some good food and beer, this is one of Bloomington's best choices.

Being from the East Coast I make it a point when dining in Bloomington to never order seafood. I have been spoiled by fresh seafood and cannot stand sub-par seafood. Having said that I decided to try the Ahi Tuna Salad one night and it was actually really great. Tuna quality was similar to what I would expect from a nice restaurant from NYC so I was quite impressed. Also, split the blue crab dip with a friend which was delicious. Nice an meaty and we had to fight each other for the last bite. On another note, the parking lot is kind of small and there really is no street parking available close by as it is on the IU campus and located next to several dorms. So watch out for that on busy nights. Also, I have been there a handful of times and I can recall two times in particular where the waiter/waitress charged me and my friends for the wrong thing or a different price than what's on the menu. So read your receipt.

Always like their calzones (called a stromboli here). The ambiance is simple, but nice and the service has always been good for us even though we have had a different waiter or waitress every time (it is a college town). Prices are a bit higher than I like for the food, but they usually accommodate my extended family of 10-15 people at a time and everyone can find something they like.

Meh, I've been to Lennies several times and am generally underwhelmed each time. All of the pastas are really bland and over spiced (avoid the Jamaican Jerk Chicken one at all costs). The salads are really good, but last time I went they were out of romaine lettuce and tried charge me $12.00 for a iceberg lettuce salad....I don't think so. The beer is selection is great but the prices are way too high for the quality of food.

My favorite restaurant in Bloomington, I go there every time I go back to visit. The house salad is amazing with red onions that they marinate themselves. I've never had a bad meal there. I really love their stroms, but they're quite large and often too much food. Pizza is always a good option but I usually opt for the bacon/ turkey melt sans bacon. It's really good with the same marinated red onions as the house salad. I could go for some marinated red onions right now :)

This would be a 4-star in a big city, but in Bloomington, it gets 5-stars. I also used to work at this place when I was in college, and I'm STILL giving it 5 stars which means the kitchen is clean, they don't pee in the salad dressing, etc., at least not when I was there. Anyways, I would second the vote on the marinated red onions and also their salads overall. I've had practically every one and they are always fantastic. Very fresh, large, and you get a nice doughy slice of bread with them. Their sandwiches are quite good as well but can be a bit messy, i.e. they are so loaded they tend to fall apart. Lennie's has expanded their menu in to pastas and more "gourmet" fare and that's cool, but I just stick to the sandwiches, stroms, and pizzas and never go wrong. Also a couple people have knocked the service: the cool thing about Lennie's is the wait staff isn't in cheesy uniforms and they actually seem to have a personality. I personally have never had a bad experience there and there are a few staff who have been working there for years: the sign of good management.

***RAVE REVIEW!!!*** When my partner and I visit Bloomington, we usually stop here to eat first thing before going on to where we're going to visit. When we leave Bloomington, eating at Lenny's is also the last thing we do. This is one of the few places anywhere where I tell people who are going to be visiting that they MUST eat at a particular restaurant. Their French onion soup is absolutely to *die* for! We've eaten there since 1992 and frankly haven't had anything we haven't absolutely LOVED!

Great beer, fresh food, usually tastes quite good. The spinach beet salad and the calzones are always a hit. Their dessert "indulgences" are a great idea - just enough dessert to satisfy, but not so much that it's another meal in itself. I recently had a sub-par zucchini quiche there, but this was an unusual occurrence. The service is good, the prices are reasonable, and the place has nice ambiance. The only downside is that parking is often very hard to find in that tiny little lot.

The place either feels completely empty, or so full that you don't want to wait for a seat. This is mostly due to the crappy "lobby" area. But once you start eating the pizza, you just won't care.
