Sloooow service on a Monday night. Mediocre chips-all crumbled up. Had to ask 3 times for the Queso dip, language barrier I guess? After a 45 min wait for our food,we almost walked out. Our dinners were hot, but not great tasting. My wife orders a Vodka tonic & 2 drinks come to the table, we weren't told about the 2 for 1-not sure about that. This place is now officially off our list,we won't be back, the last 2 visits have convinced me that this place needs more employees & better management.

Prompt, courteous service with very good food to back it up. Chili Poblano was excellent - done just right. Dos XX on tap in multiple size offerings? Yes please! And to second Herbert's post, my wife got a Margarita as big as her head which she says was outstanding. We'll definitely be back.

Stopped here for bite on way to Chicago. It is approximately 8 miles/12 minutes off of the turnpike. It is a casual Mexican restaurant decorated in traditional tacky decor. And I like that. There is a patio, margaritas & coronas. And I like all of that too. I had the crab/shrimp enchiladas (Enchiladas Del Puerto) and they were very good. As were my wife's beef burrito and taco that I tasted. It was busy because they also had a Sunday buffet going on but the service was excellent.

Service was terrible, we wanted to sit at the bar but all the stools were pulled back and there was trash all over the floor. Someone finally came to our table to take our order once several servers argued (in Spanish) whose turn it wasn't. We each ordered a drink, which came out in a reasonable amount of time. We were finishing up our drink and no employee was to be found in the bar. No bill, no bartender, no server. Again, the service was terrible and they have 0 customer service skills. I wouldn't recommend this place to my closest friend. Go to Club Paradise or Mad Anthony for good food AND GREAT service!!

This place has terrible service. They told us they would seat us in 30 minutes and it took an hour. So if you go here double the time because this is the second time this has happened. Oh and the food is mediocre but the service people are very nice.

This is more authentic Mexican food than most Mexican restaurants I've come across. Extensive menu, with lots of different options for creating your meal. Of note, the Queso Dip is outstanding. The salsa is good and fresh, a tad spicier than I like. All the main dishes I've had have been good or above. Particularly enjoy the enchiladas. Guacamole is spicy, not mild. Service is always adequate. It's a nice option for those of us enjoying the Lakes. Outside seating available, extensive bar with lots of different drinks.

Had some cheese queso and guacamole to start along with a side of fresh grilled jalapeños and tomatillo salsa. The jalapeños and tomatillos really got me warmed up so I had them bring me a large Texas Margarita. The thing was the size of a fishbowl. Everything was a little blurry after that, but I think I had some cheese enchiladas. I will be back for more when in the area.

Excellent food and great service! My wife and I ordered quesadillas and were not disappointed. I couldn't believe how fast we received our food, especially on Friday night. The salsa was excellent and the chips were warm.

Service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly & helpful. We sat outside & enjoyed the summer weather, but the inside was decorated authentic Mexican. We had the Acaplco burrito & chimichanga, both had great flavor and big portions with rice & beans. Will definitely come back when we are in the area.

We used to visit Acapulco Mexican Grill several times each summer. You should always expect a wait at dinner time. Last time we went it was very different. The wait was extra long and when we checked they said that we were next to be seated and that they just had to clear a second table and push them together. After ten minutes went by they decided to give our table away to a smaller party just two minutes too soon as the second table got up to leave. We were told it would be another 20-30 minutes and tough luck. The manager had no apologies and while we were talking to him the wait staff behind us were talking about not having to worry about another angry customer leaving. We have spent thousands of dollars eating at this place but when the customers are no longer top priority then the restaurant is doomed. The food was good but the attitude has changed. I don't expect to return anytime soon, if ever.

The food was average at best and the service should be negative stars. Having worked in the food industry I typically tip well but on this bill since I felt like I was wasting the waiters time by asking for another beer I left only 3.50 tip. The waiter, who also took my case snarled at the tip. He is lucky I had already finished writing or I would have given him nothing. There are plenty f other places around lake James with better food to not go here again

Please avoid this place. They will insult you and treat you badly. We used to like this place, especially the Margaritas and some of the dishes. We used to be regulars, now we will never go back and we hope you also avoid them. Last year we had a very bad experience with some undercooked food, but we decided to try them again. Big mistake. We arrived early because we had a big party (10 people). They told us it would be 10 minutes for a table. After 20 minutes they pointed to a table that was finishing, and told use they would put it together with 2 others that were ready. After another 20 minutes they had given away the other tables, and told us to wait for another 30 minutes for a different table. When I asked to see the manager he came out and did nothing. He was not in the slightest apologetic, he shrugged and walked away. A few feet away one of the employees said to another "I hope they leave, can we delay them some more?". They did not know that my teenage children overheard them. We are a quiet family, and there was no reason for this insult except their laziness to handle a big table. We had never caused a problem or complained in previous visits (the undercooked meal last year was a problem after we left the restaurant). There are new restaurants nearby that are much better choices. Acapulco does not deserve your business, they do not know how to respect customers. Please avoid them.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
