This could be your mom and pop Chinese restaurant but who cares, the food is yum relative to all other similar Chinese places I have dined at in past 7 years. Recently I picked up lunch and then dinner the following day. Fried rice is awesome and so is the kung pao. They offer real veggie spring rolls with no egg and good amount of veggies. Portions are more than enough.

I grew up around the corner from this place and it was our family Chinese place for yeeeeears. I don't know why, but sometime around 2001/2002 we became kind-of jaded by it or something... like the food was still fine and on the rare occasion that we ever ate there or picked up food it was just O.K. There were other places that were a little less convenient that tasted better and the extra drive was worth it. You know how Chinese food can just be mediocre and you won't mind eating it or it can be DYNAMITE and it will blow your mind?? That's what I'm talking about here. Fast forward to 2010 and we stumbled across their new fancy menus - if you live around here you've seen them. This is a fancy fold out menu with color pictures of their dishes - clearly they were trying to get our attention but we weren't falling for the trick. Then, one Thursday evening when we got the hankerin' for some Chinese noodles and pot-stickers, we dialed our Chinese place in Glenview but they weren't picking up the phone. After taking a few moments to scrutinize Classic China's menu, we figured 'what the heck' let's try them again. Looks like they're back in the 'making good Chinese food' business again. It's worthwhile to note that they've done some remodeling of the restaurant - they've modernized a little bit. They have a tank with some live lobsters (neat!) and another tank by the sushi bar with some big fish swimming in it... am I to believe they will prepare one of these if I ask? I probably wouldn't ask them to prepare anything like that but I look forward to dining in sometime in the near future. Oh... as I'm writing this I now see they have a fancy new website too where you can order online - I'll have to try that too! Oh... one more thing - these guys cook fast! Our Glenview guys would sometimes give us a 30 minute time frame and would take 45 minutes; again - if the food is good, I don't mind (but fast and good is better - ok?). Keep it up Classic China... keep it up.

Good chinese food for carry out. Inside looked ok but we do carry out most of the time anyway. Our kids really enjoy the shrimp fried rice and vegetable beef. My wife enjoys the orange chicken. Crab rangoons were very tasty and loaded with cream. When ordering, mention chicken fried rice special for $4.95 it's taped on front window and not in menu. For under $40 my family of five gets a very tasty chinese take-out dinner that we all enjoy and I ha The cooks are super fast, usually my order is ready in ten minutes. May try to eat in one day and will rate service part too.

3 people all agree that its 3 of 5. Shrimp Lo Mein - Decent. Dissapointed they forgot the fried rice for the lunch special. Sweet and Sour Chicken - Good. Eggroll not so much. Sesame Chicken - Good. Not the best I've ever had, not the worst. I really wonder if it was the rat that wasant up to par. Eh, 3 stars, whoopie...wouldnt recommend tho.

This is a nice hidden place where you can have a good meal, with a friendly staff, at a reasonable price. The Miso soup was very tasty. I had the Black Mushroom Beef and my wife had the S&S Chicken. First let me say the portions are huge before the rice The S&S chicken may be one of the very best I've ever had and the beef was very tasty. All this for under $30. I'll be back for sure!

This is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. I have been eating from here for around 8 years now and it never dissapoints. They have the best Governor's Chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. Great portions and great food always.

Love this little go-to Chinese place! The portions are always super large and tastes delicious. They also offer coupons when you order online quite often. Tonight we ordered crab Rangoon which were large and the order came with about 10 pieces. Yum! We also got the chicken fried rice and a small order or the spicy beef Kung po. Both were super tasty. We also got 2 free spring rolls. With the two fortune cookies I am stuffed. Plus there's a ton left over to give to my BF & his bro for lunch tomorrow. Super awesome sauce Classic China!

I have been going here with family for many years. I understand they have changed owners over the course of 20 years. It's always been better than average. The food is never amazing but for the price it's a great deal. Go during lunch hour for the best price. The staff is always friendly and their decor is not too shabby either. From the outside it doesn't look to be in a great location but give it a try. It beats Panda Express.

Ok friends, so to start, I have only gotten delivery from here. My husband and I tried this place 4 years ago and we where not impressed. (Hence the 4 stars...I still have my doubts) So we never ordered it again...until 3 weeks ago. I got beef fried rice, and the hubs got combination rice. Well, let me tell you! Our socks where blown off because it was honestly that good! We are sort of sad it took us 4 years to give it another shot, but better late than never right? The food: in my experiences, fried rice is greasy...obviously. This one is not as greasy as most. The flavor is good. We both agreed that they don't use to much spices/salt, which was great! (I didn't feel gross after chowing down) oh and the portions are big. We got the large for both orders and had leftovers for about 2 days. The delivery: they said 45 to an hour. They got to me in 35 minutes on a Friday at 7pm. (I'm not very close to them either!) Keep in mind, maybe I'm jumping the gun on my review, but maybe classic china has amped up their food? Or we just got lucky and caught them on a good day! Will we be coming back? Yes, and I really hope I can leave this review As is. :)

I recently attended a birthday party at this quaint, little restaurant.. I was delighted to find the food was fresh and flavorful. Each dish had it's own flavor. You may think that is the way it should be- but my choices in Chinese food have been disappointing as of late. It seems that many Chinese restaurants must buy in bulk from some "frozen Chinese food provider"- because everything tastes so similar. And do not get me started on the texture- or lack thereof. Getting back to Classic China: Apparently they are under new ownership. The food was fantastic and authentic, the service was great, and the place was spotless. Check it out!.

Outstanding appetizers! I recommend the crab rangoon and shanghai egg rolls. I've only had a few entrees, but I really liked them. So far, I've had Orange chicken and vegetable medley. The orange chicken is spicy and sweet with a nice blend of peppers and spices in the sauce. The vegetable medley was crisp water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and some other vegetables that I didn't recognize, but which made for a light and not-at-all spicy main dish. The service is usually quite fast. When I call ahead for takeout, it's ready when they say it will be. Prices are very reasonable for lunch, a bit less so for dinner.

They alright cause they try hard and are sincere in accommodating. But they really can't compete with the big boys in authentic Chinese cooking. There's just not enough demand and traffic for fresh seafood for them to keep items readily in stock. Nice roomy parking lot and no fight for seating dining room. BYOB though.

I actually ordered it after I got a menu in my mailbox... and it was a hit! I have lived in the city for many years and was spoiled rotten by authentic asian food. So coming to the burbs I have ran into not so good food. But this was great! Great prices, the food was hot and fresh, and you got a lot for your buck! I will order again, and it's so fast! The pot stickers and veg friend rice were amazing!

Meh, I did carry out first time for lunch. She said 10 mins, so I went there 20 mins later and waited another 10 mins (30 mins total). That was fine. But then I ordered Singapore Rice Noodles and all the pork in there were fat and not actual meat. I had much better Chinese take out else where in the nearby neighborhood. Oh the place is kind of smelly and quiet place for a lunch hour.

So I took out two of the more "authentic" dishes--1) pork with sour beans, and 2) basil beef. The pork dish was very nice. Julienned pork slices in a stir fry with some veggies, including pieces of pickled green beans. They have it in the right proportion, so that the pickled quality of the green beans does not dominate, but adds an unusual taste that blends in well. An excellent dish. A bit more "heat" would have been fine with me in this dish, but that's a nitpick... The basil beef was mediocre. It was a basic beef stir fry with pieces of beef that should have been cut smaller, but where's the basil? I saw only a few leaves, and the dish had no taste of basil at all. It didn't taste bad or anything, but it was bland and lacking the advertised ingredient, and I will not order it again... Portions are generous...

Tried to order through there online system, once I showed up to pick up the food they has no record of my order and they would not honor the online discount they offered. Food was a 2 stars. Will not order from here again.

We went in for lunch on a Friday. The place had a few tables with people seated but it certainly wasn't packed to the gills. It took our waitress ten minutes just to come to our table to give us water. Once she finally did, we figured we better put our order in since I didn't feel like waiting an hour for her to make the return trip. We asked her one simple question; what kind of soup do you have today? She muttered something incomprehensible and simply walked away before we could ask her anything else, let alone get clarification to her original gibberish. Seriously?!? We decided to walk out at that point. While it's blatantly obvious they make their bread and butter with carry-outs, places like this shouldn't even bother having table service if they're going to be that stupid and rude.

Wow, Classic China is a great place for Chinese. Many other Chinese Restaurants do not take as much pride in their food as they do. The Orange chicken is excellent, with a sweet, tangy sauce. Crispy chicken drenched in this sauce makes it awesome. The Mongolian Beef is just perfectly seared beef covered in a light Mongolian sauce. And the fried rice..... a staple at every Chinese take-out. For only 4.95 you get a generous box full of colorful hefty rice. It is hands down the best Chinese for the dollar, and some of the best in the area. Go try it now. ^_^

with a recent face lift, there new decor has a fine dining look with a casual atmosphere. A life size replica of a terracotta warrior is the center piece of the room. Expect all the usual staples at very reasonable prices, and a sushi bar.

Not being Chinese, I can't comment on the authenticity of the Hunan menu on offer from Classic China. Being American, tho, I'm well qualified to address the Americanized menu items - and they are really good. I've been looking for a place for six years since we moved our from the city that could stand in for Lo's China Kitchen, and this finally is it. The orange beef is excellent, crispy and quite sweet; lo mein and fried rice were very tasty. Much of their business is take out/delivery, but the restaurant itself is pleasant. Service was excellent, attentive and very kind to our two young daughters.

Orange chicken is crispy and very tasty. Its a very modern friendly environment. Not your hole in the wall chinese place. This is the only place I will ever eat chinese food. FOod is much crispier when dining in but take out is still worth it. Id def recommend this place to anyone! I like their website. You can order your take out right online and specify instructions. THey make have specials written on their window though that dont show up on thier website so look out for those to get your discount!

I can't believe I didn't discover this place earlier since I live a few blocks away! The food is very authentic Chinese food, Xiang style, where Chairman Mao came from (forgive me for being in such a nuisance). But the food was really amazing! We had pickle string bean with pork stir fry, spicy steamed fish, Xiang style eggplant, and pork with skin stew. Every dish is just as what we had expected, of course all four of us are from China. We noticed that they do have different menu for the Chinese and Americans. The surprisingly short menu kind of amazed me at first, feeling like they don't offer a lot, but after dinning there, I kind of like the simplicity out of it, they are just focusing on what they do best. I don't know how good the egg roll, kung pao chicken, or other typical American Chinese dishes are, to me, this resteraunt cares about carrying on the Chinese culinery culture in that their dishes are not blended with American preference of any kind. Plus the great service and very reasonable price, we are actually gonna come back this weekend also. Good wine needs no bush! Cheers, Classic China.

If you go there expect to be disappointed- the food is below average. The egg rolls are just not good. Orange chicken was OK Shrimp dish was OK I had a carry out order, when I arrived home I realized I was given the wrong food item. I called and went back. They gave the correct item, but no apology. I wont return

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
