Not even close to Indian. Food is Indian "flavored". I wonder how it got so many good reviews. Avoid thus place if you can.

Great lunch buffet for only about $8! The naan is amazing and limitless, they bring out chicken wings that are pretty good, and you can choose from many tasty Indian dishes. A great quick place to go to when you're craving Indian food.

Not as good as my favorite Indian place ever (with the same name, in Kansas City), but I was greatly impressed by the flavors in the dishes I usually order. My husband and I tried the Aloo Mutter and the Vegetable Korma. They turned out to be less sweet than I'm used to, but they both have enough curry to make them very interesting. Food here is reasonable priced, and I would go back, but only if I'm the area. Quite a drive!

One of the best Indian food places in the area! Everything home made and a wonderful buffett at lunch everyday. Nice staff, always friendly. My kids love it as well.

Very good Indian. One of my favorites. It was recommended by an Indian co-worker so I had to give it a try. Definitely worth checking out. Not the fanciest Indian restaurant I've been to, but the taste is spot on.

I've been here several times for the buffet and it tends to be my favorite place for Indian buffet. One reason is it is consistent in what is offered and my one dish I truly want to have when if comes to Indian buffet is chicken masala and chicken makhani, both Indian Palace has always had on my visits and does well. I also eat the goat curry but like most Indian places I've been to the goat curry is mostly bone, so I usually fill myself up on the chicken dishes including the chicken tandoori that is served to your table along with the naan. It is tempting to get a third plate full of the masala and makhani, but resists so as not being a glutten. I've never seen chicken vindaloo which is one of my favorite Indian dishes since it is one of the more spicier Indian dishes but nonetheless I'm a big fan of the chicken Indian Palace does offer. No Indian restaurant visit is complete with out some gulab jaman and Indian Palace has always offered on my visits. Michelle, my wife, is not a big fan of the Indian cusibe because of spice had had entrée of lamb curry and enjoys it. I give it only four stars and not five is because there are many Indian restaurants I've tried but of the four or five I've been to this is my favorite

Does not disappoint! The chicken tikka is boneless, but yet oh so very juicy and tasty. It's marinated in a yogurt sauce and seasoned to perfection, the aromas of the grilled onions and chicken that permeate air are enough to make the mouth water. The veggie samosa are these tasty critters that never disappoint. Oh and the pakora when combined with the complimentary sauces and chutney are these morsels of delight.

My wife and I were a little timid when we saw the modest setting and the large menu (which can often be a bad sign), but we were totally won over by the tasty entrees. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of the dishes (one was a chicken dish in the tikka family, with cilantro, onions and tomatoes), but they were combinations we don't run into often at Indian restaurants. The garlic naan and mango lassi were also solid. Service was friendly as well. Absolutely recommended!

AMAZING indian food for a great price. They also have a certificate on restaurant.com . I recommend the chili paneer, manchurian, and paneer makhni, paneer burji...all AMAZING dishes...

I found out about this place because I lived a mile down the road and randomly gave it a whirl. The chicken tikki marsala (I might be the only person who calls it butter chicken) is the best I have ever had. Seriously worth any price they offer for it. From 11:30(ish) to 2:30(ish) they have a lunch buffet which is AMAZING for less then 10 bucks!! Best part is.... You can take it TO GO!! I personally love the buffet because not only is butter chicken a staple- I can try other dishes I normally wouldn't order. The staff is very friendly and helpful, although there interior decor isn't anything to write home about. I have since moved to Roselle but find every opportunity to get to India Palace for some take out. Oh! One last note- don't pass up the orange onion chutney (sorry I don't know the name) especially if you like spicy. I get extra to use at home with other dishes. This place is highly recommended. I hope they stay in business for a long time because if I couldn't have my IP fix I would be devastated!

I absolutely love Indian food and this is my favorite spot in the Western 'burbs. There are so many great dishes that I always over order and leave with leftovers. Definitely try the Saag Paneer (spinach w/ cheese) and the amazing Gobi dish (cauliflower) and get the saffron rice and garlic naan. Mmmmm - now I'm craving Indian!

This place was GREAT. It was a little slow getting started but once our party was complete, things were great from there. they were very nice and one of them even came out to my car because one of my friends left her bracelet in the restaurant. the food is really good. I've read other reviews on other websites that complained about the price, and while most indian restaurants come pretty cheap, i think the prices were reasonable. I tried the butter chicken and it was delish. we liked everything we tried. while it's not a raving favorite (there is one indian restaurant in california that i think tops this place) i would definitely come back and recommend it to my friends.

I can't believe I'm the first to review this wonderful place. I haven't found a better Indian restaurant anywhere, even on Devon. I've been to India a couple of times and am so grateful I can get this quality of food here. I recommend the lunch buffet, everyday of the week. But, they really go all out on Sunday and it is especially busy then. They often have several items beyond the standard Indian favorites. From their menu, they make a pretty great Dosa. My neices love the Chicken Tikka Masala, my sister loves the Sag paneer (spinach with cheese), I love it all!

Easily the best Indian restaurant in the area. The lunch buffet is all you can eat for $8, and the food is delicious. Plenty of vegetarian options, including lots of tofu and veggie dishes. Also delicious Naan. Aside from the buffet the entrees are reasonably priced, and you definitely get what you pay for. The place is also quite clean, the tables all have silver- and glassware and table cloths. Not super fancy, but nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to make India Palace a stop, but if you like Indian food and you're in the area you should absolutely stop in.

a very very pleasant surprise in the middle of nowhere. ok it's not in the middle of nowhere, but for most all ethnic cuisine, chicago is the only place to get it. good indian food in wheaton? who knew! Came here with some coworkers for their lunch buffet. i guess the secret's out because the place quickly filled. they had a handful of options (less than most indian buffets in the city, but very decent for the burbs). most options were vegetarian dishes, but everything is so flavorful that you dont really miss the meat if you're a meat lover like me. they did have chicken makhani (which was very very good. could have eaten just this and rice) and goat curry (which i didn't try but heard was good) the naan wasn't as great as city buffets, but it wasn't horrible either. The usual desserts- rice pudding, fruit, mango ice cream, and those sweet doughy balls in sweet syrup. good pricing- it came out to be about $11 including tax and tip. service was great- my glass was never empty. we will probably be back next time we're looking for a lunch spot.

Best Tandoori chicken I have had! The staff is nice. I tried both the buffet for lunch and ordered off the menu for dinner. The price was definitely more but it was still literally a feast brought to the table. I think the items tasted better off the menu but I am always satisfied with my experience when I eat here. However my pants are usually angry at me after.

Great buffet during lunch, perfect for those that aren't sure about Indian Food. Great Goat, yum, don't knock if you haven't tried it. Tandoori Chicken with every buffet. Clean and friendly. The price is right. Take a chance and try it, you'll love it.

I've eaten here a half dozen times over the last few years and I and friends are never disappointed. The lunch buffet is pretty good although I prefer ordering from the menu at night. I eat meat (the lamb and chicken dishes are quite tasty) but my vegetarian friends were quite happy also. It is a nice, family-run place, very friendly.

Great...authentic indian food!! Prices are reasonable and food is great!! Get the butter chicken or chicken tikka masala and u can't go wrong here! Service is good and the owner is friendly. Ask ur waiter to make the food spicey if u can handle it!

Went for my birthday lunch in October and was very disappointed. The buffet had some different entrees to the norm (which was nice) but I thought it wasn't too fresh or as tasty as other restaurants. I know one of my Indian friends thinks this is a great place, but I can't recommend it on this visit. My daughter liked it but then again she was only 13 months old.

finally some restaurant who does justice to indian flavors! i went there with my husband for dinner.the servers were very courteous.we ordered the maharaja bhojan and maharani bhojan.we love spicy foods and we were taken aback since the food has zero spiciness according to us but cant blame them we forgot to mention that we want it to be spicy.but the best part of the food is its flavour, each type of tandoori item was perfectly coated with the perfect marination or ingredients and the chicken pieces were cooked to perfection.the paneer matter curry was not so great but the lamb pieces in the lamb curry was cooked well and the pieces had the good flavor.usually all these flavors are missing in most of the restaurants, they usually end up putting the same gravy in multiple curries all that i used to taste is tomato onion gravy .but this place has a good chef who loves food just like us and has magic hands. the decor is neat but needs some upgrade and even the plates looks so overused.they need to use more clean neat and scratch less ones. overall we would go again just for the tasty foods.

India Palace is a hidden gem in the middle of a lack luster strip mall. The food is fantabulous and I have brought many people there to enjoy. I am married to an Indian and her parents were staying with us in Wheaton. We took them and it even impressed the folks from the old country. I personally love the Chilli Paneer, and the Tandoor Shrimp (forget the chicken) LOL Anyway do youself a favor and check it out you will not be sorry.

One word - outstanding. And I've been to India. This is about the best I've had in the US. Everything is fresh, the portions are generous and the flavors are authentic. Seasoning is to taste, and they will accommodate you. This is a real gem; we are regulars.

After discovering this place, I never eat Indian anywhere else! The food is fresh, warm, and tasty. The spices never overpower the food, rather they compliment it. I ordered the mateer paneer and the bangan bharta with plain naan. The service was also excellent. The owners treat their guests like family.

Love the food here - flavorful, cooked well, and served beautifully. My friends and I always have leftovers which reheat well and are just as much a treat as originally. The staff are usually quite friendly and attentive with refilling water, etc. A great option you wouldn't expect in its location.

This has been our "go-to" Indian restaurant in Wheaton for many years. The food was excellent as was the service. However, over the last several months, we have noticed that women who seems to run the place has become just plain unpleasant. The man is still wonderful, but the woman has ruined our dining experience the last two times. Once is acceptable, but twice is not. He has been very accommodating but she definitely is not. We have decided to stay away for several months in the hopes that this restaurant can return to its former glory. I actually called back today to try to understand what the heck is going on and all the husband could do was apologize.

I am a very picky reviewer so when I give a restaurant 4 or 5 stars I mean it. Our family went to this restaurant last night. The only thing overstated was the word Palace... nothing palatial about this place. However the food is fit for Royalty. We ordered Hariyali (all green spices) Chicken Kabab, Malai Chicken Kabab, Spinach Saag and Shrimp Biryani. Both Kabab's and Spinach dish were excellent!! Pass on the Shrimp Biryani... average at best. Enjoy these Kabab's with traditional Rumali Roti. Better than Naan in my opinion.

Very good Indian food. Seasoned to perfection. However theres a couple negatives: very small portion size on the meat dish and expensive. Ordered the lamb curry and saag paneer. The saag was seasoned to perfection and cooked just right. The lamb in the curry was a good tender grade of lamb and the curry even though it was seasoned well, it was the thinnest curry I've ever had. Perhaps it just seemed thin, since the meat portion was 50% less than any other indian restaurant. Truth in advertising this lamb curry should have been listed as a soup with a hint of lamb. Also, plain rice is not included with the curry! If I hadn't ordered some when they brought my food out I would have needed a soup bowl to eat my curry. Also had some garlic naan bread, which was good as well. Lastly very expensive. The above for just one person, plus 1 beer came to $45, before tip. Next time I'm looking to eat Indian food, I'll go to one of the other Indian restaurants in the area.

We came here after getting our coffee buzz on at a Yelp event. I was soooo hungryyyy. I was thrilled to see such an extensive vegetarian menu, but it ended up being overwhelming since (even with a short description) I really didn't know what most things were. My guy texted his Indian bff to ask what a particular dish was, so we ordered that (chickpea something-or-other). Unfortunately it wasn't the same thing he had had. Dan K. is spot-on when he notes you'll pay for every.little.thing. I didn't think we'd be charged for, say, rice, but that wasn't the case. Our order of 2 dishes (a $9 mediocre chickpea one and $13 shrimp curry) + rice + garlic naan + veggie samosas ($2.50) brought us over $30 before tip. Yikes. The curry was good, bit there were 5-6 shrimp and the rest was sauce. The naan was the best - I LOVE garlic, and it was very pungent. The veggie samosas were also very good and had a nice kick. Service was spottier the later it got; our water glasses went empty a few times. I was also disappointed that the server/female owner (?) took away the sauces without asking if we were done with them. In all it was just "meh." In the future I'd stick with the naan and samosas unless I had some guidance on what to order.

Food options: 4 stars, Service: 1 star, Food: 3 stars, Atmosphere: 3 star, Price: 2 star. There were quiet a few options to choose from, which was a plus. Atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was average, chairs were small and no private booths. 3 pieces of under cooked dessert (gulab jamun) was $4. When we were sitted, the current wait time was conveyed to be 10 mins, it took over 35 mins for food to arrive.

Oh my goodness. So SO good! The lunch buffet is seriously the best. And that's saying something coming from me! ;) I usually hate the idea of buffets. But trust me, this one is great. I don't think I've found anything I haven't liked here yet.

This was one of the first restaurants I ever visited after moving here. I live around the corner, yet never made it in for the lunch buffet. Until now. And I'm going back. For under $11 you get an all you can eat buffet AND naan AND a plate of chicken tikka! That's unbelievable pricing. Maybe not quite as much meat for your buck as Smokehouse, but close. Today I had the goat curry (not too bony, soft meat, good spices) and the chicken tikka masala along with the complimentary naan and chicken tikka. All was very good. I also had some "salad" ... not so impressed. Lots of very brown lettuce. Possibly the cheapest food item on the buffet, one of only two primary salad ingredients available, and it was obviously far from fresh.

I'm giving it 4.5 stars out of five. Probably my favorite restaurant in the area and I absolutely love Indian food (always enjoyed eating down Devon ave in Chicago). They're buffet is totally worth it! For $11 you can get a nice variety of dishes. They automatically give you naan and chicken tikka. My favorite being the vegetable noodles, samosas, and chicken tikka masala. The servers are usually friendly and are attentive, refilling your drink right away. One thing that stuck out was how on a visit, they weren't offering samosas at the buffet and I was really looking forward to it. We asked out server for an order of samosas and the boss/manager came around and said it would be part of the buffet, no extra charge. Another time, my young niece came with and she wasn't feeling very well (upset stomach, totally not related to the restaurant). She served herself a plate thinking she would be alright but ended up not being able to eat more than 2 bites. The boss/manager came by and asked if everything was alright since she didn't eat much. We indicated that she wasn't feeling very well. He said he was sorry for that and her meal would not be charged. How awesome is that? We've also done carry-out for dinner. They always got out order right and it was the perfect amount of spicy. Everything has always been delicious and we've never had a bad experience. The only reason why they are docked half a star is because some of their less eaten items from the buffet don't look too appetizing. They should really consider switching the items or only serving them upon request.

During my brief stint as a Glendale Heights resident, I needed to find an Indian restaurant close to home. Enter India Palace. India Palace wasn't anything absolutely amazing, but it was good and on the cheap end of the ridiculously priced Indian food spectrum. You do, naturally, have to order everything a la carte (naan, rice, etc.), but the prices are reasonable enough that it's not that big of a deal (it was around 9 bucks for my main course- chicken tikka masala). It was also casual (which I like) and service was decent enough (though a little slow). I don't know that I would go out of my way to come here when there are so many other options closer to my new place, and it's not anything particularly memorable, but it's a solid choice if you are in the area and are phening for some Indian grub.

We came here today in the mood for some Indian food, so we decided to try this buffet out. I walked up to the buffet and all I thought was gross. I wanted to turn and walk out. But, I decided to give it chance. Sad that I did!!! Variety was not there, the salad bar looked like crap and some of the lettuce was brown. The food wasn't great! We ordered two cokes. We tried them and they were totally flat. (Seems like old two litter soda that had no carbonation) we told the lady that they were flat she says oh our carbon is out do you still want them? Ummm no thanks. Had the chicken masala and it had pieces of chicken tandoori mixed in it? So, why is there other chicken in this dish? Is it chicken left over? We felt disgusted leaving here. The place was gross! Will never come back! I will stay loyal to Viceroy on Roosevelt in Lombard. This is a zero star review!

I had a fantastic experience at this fine dine in authentic Indian restaurant. The food came out hot and were all fresh. Mr. Ravat, the owner seemed very welcoming and entertaining to customer needs. He was very personable and gave us free dessert because it was our first time. Totally recommend the place. Only con, the ambience can be altered for better lighting. Will certainly go back for more!

Been eating here and take out since 2003. Never been disappointed. Food the other night was fabulous. Served piping hot and delicious. Service fast and friendly considering the place was more than moderately busy. Busier than usual in fact. Chicken Samosa, #78, #122 special dinner. I don't remember the names but it spanned chicken and lamb dishes with rich tasty cream sauces. Leftovers for dinner tonight. Can't wait.

I dined there with a friend last night. The meal was good. Not, knock it out of the park great, but good. I would have given it 3-4 stars. However, at the end of the meal when the plates were cleared, there was a DEAD ROACH in the middle of the table. My friend and I were so horrified we were speechless. Just stunned. I have never experienced that in my life. We considered getting up and just walking out, but I was curious to see how they would handle it. The assistant manager appeared to be horrified as well. He went in the back to speak to someone and offered to discount our check 15%. We were stunned again....really. There is a DEAD ROACH in the middle of our table and 15%? We handed back our left overs and at a minimum asked for 50% off. They gave us that. Granted, they offered to cook us a new meal. But, ya know....we lost our appetite. Still think we should have just walked out.

I went here on a Saturday night after shopping at Aurora Outlets. Excellent service, amazing ambience and an Indian feel to the food. I ordered kadhai paneer, vegetable jalfrezi and masala kuclcha. The gravy of curry was unlike other restaurants and was very close to Home cooked food. Loved it! We look forward to more visits.

Please Yelp; no matter how much this restaurant is paying you do not delete this review. We went there to celebrate our 22 years anniversary and since we are on a budget we choose them because they were part of the restaurant.com list. We had a $25 certificate from restaurant.com which was given to me for volunteering on a Saturday for 8 hours at a fire station fund raising event. I will give them 3 starts for their food and Zero for service. Not only was the service extremely poor they also behave like shysters. When we entered the restaurant the servers were not particularly attentive. After being seated we waited for at least 15 minutes. They did not bother to explain the buffet option over a la carte choices. We made sure to tell them right away about our certificate, which they seemed not to like. Several times we were told that we had to order $50 worth of service, we politely told them that we knew and it is printed on the certificate. Our order added to $51.89 and they added taxes and 18% gratuity before applying the $25 discount. We asked about the 18% gratuity and we were told that it comes as part of using the certificate - no place on the certificate specified that clause, in fact the only clause was the that it must be redeem with a $50 purchase. We try to reason with them explaining that the $25 discount is before taxes and tip, but it was so frustrating that we gave up. We had a mediocre and frustrating dining experience for our anniversary. This place is not worth the discount, we will not go back. If you are thinking of going there you are better off ordering the buffet for 8.99. It was a waist of our $25 certificate which was a gift for volunteering at a fire station. We are very disappointed.

Buffet is awesome. Not too much of a selection but it's worth about $10 per person. Aside the food you're gonna get from the buffet, your table will also be brought a siZzling plate of tandoori chicken and fresh naan. But I must say individual order of channa masala is way better tasting than the one in the buffet.

Sitting in my truck of the India Palace restaurant sick to my stomach. Came in for the buffet with coworkers. I'm horribly embarrassed because I referred this place. First few times this place was good (I mean not great, but good). This time not at all. Something wasn't right today. The buffet was bland and minimal. THE RAW CHICKEN IS WHAT DID ME IN TODAY. I feel bad sharing this because I'm a huge supporter of family run businesses like this but the gentleman owner was extremely rude when we all mentioned something about the raw chicken. I'm sure people like this place, but it's definitely a no go for me after this. There is no excuse for raw chicken and a bad attitude about it. Just please be careful dining here.

Went back here again after my last visit (where the service was HORRENDOUS). I hate buffets so I always avoid them. Anyways, I ordered the Tandoori Shrimp. My brother ordered the Tandoori Chicken. We split the Tandoori Vegetables. My fat a$$ had some of his chicken. The service was better today! Back to four!

I could not say better things about this place. I have been here three times now, and each time ordered something different on the menu and all three times I was blown away. Even the wine is cheap and good quality. I have ordered Sattrangi Dal, baigan barta, and aloo gobi. The portions are fairly sized and they serve the food in large bowls family size and then place them on top of burners to keep the food warm while you are eating. While you are waiting for your food, you are served three different chutneys: a sweet brown sauce, a spicy green sauce, and an onion chutney ( ALL STUPENDOUS!!) I could rave forever about their freshly baked garlic naan. The service is attentive and will help you pick an item from their menu, because it is quite extensive and can be a little overwhelming for anyone who is not very familiar with Indian food. Best indian food in the area!!

I have never had Indian food before and neither have my kids. We figured we would just try some. I'm glad we came here the service was great and the food was amazing! I love the buffet style at the table thing they have going it made me feel at home. I had quite a few kids with me and everyone there was so helpful in helping us pick what we would like and they hit the nail on the head every time. I don't live anywhere around here but j would definitely go back just for the food. The chicken noodle was amazing but I think the lamb curry was my favorite, or was it the chicken on the hot plate that smoking hot and still sizzling and a bright red color. I'm not going to lie there wasn't anything we ordered that we didn't like. I tried a mango drink that was is good I have never tasted anything like it before. Suck a different taste. Almost like a mango milk and not so much a juice. They called it a smoothie but it wasn't as thick. I could drink that all day. Definitely in my list of places to go to again. Food was amazing and the service was great!

I was in the area and had a hankering for Indian food... buffet in particular. I did a yelp search and found this place close by. I decided to try and got there as soon as it opened. Although I was by myself and was the only person in there, I immediately sat and started over the buffet and found myself pleased to find the freshly untouched choices of all the maralas, curry's, rice, salad, soups and all the typical fixings you would find in an Indian buffet. What I was even more pleased with was that the flavors of each of the sauces where not bland and had just the right amount of spice and texture. It's kind of a hit or miss honestly at most buffets (probably depends on the cook)... but I've so far been here twice since my first time and was happy to know that I will come back when I'm in the area again. The only preference I would have liked would be if they had biyrani rice as an option instead of just plain white basmati. But all in all, very yummy.

Just finished reading the good and not so good reviews. The food is overall good. Nice flavors and well cooked. The buffet is what I go for and it's usually kept clean and well stocked. One of the few places I know that serves stewed goat. Pretty good if you like goat. Chicken tikka is good with a lot of white meat. The naan is fresh and hot. Rice pudding, cheese balls in honey sauce and mango ice cream finish things off nicely. The owner was a chef at several of the best restaurants in Hong Kong which I've been too. He knows his way around the kitchen. And in 10 years of dining there I've never seen little creatures anywhere there...ever !

For a first timer, ordering Indian food can be quite daunting. Want to try something good...but not dig too deep...getting something too exotic that you're regretting your choice. The Palace was perfect! Everything labeled out and described nicely. Comfy, friendly settings. My daughter and I ordered up our wine and checked out their pretty extensive menu offerings. Settled on a chicken dish cooked in ginger, onion, spices and cashews, while my daughter, following a more vegetarian diet these days, settled on the lentils. Rounded things off with some garlic nan and saffron rice - and we were set! The crispy pita served with a few dipping sauces was pretty tasty. This was served to us pretty much as chips and salsa in a Mex restaurant would be - once we got settled. Had your green - hot - red/brown - sweet - and chopped tomatoes. Everything was good, and stood out on it's own...but found my favorite was the mix of the green and brown - little sweet and sassy! - which was very nice. Didn't wait too long for our food. Rolling tray was brought up...and dinner was served! Very much liked their hot burners, with the clay bowls...keeping things warm for you as you dig in. Everything was great! Have to admit, did really enjoy my daughter's lentils a little better then mine, but even then, the chicken was super tasty. Brought it with me for lunch today ;) - The rice was a nice added touch.. And the nan - OMG! - I love nan! Buy it frozen all the time and bake it...but fresh, garlic nan - there is nothing like it! Did round things out with their carrot desert and their tea - both interesting. Expected the carrot desert to resemble more of a cake...so the texture was a little surprising, but don't let that fool you. Was different, but still very tasty. Very much enjoyed our first time here We're fans! And will be back to explore more!

Unfortunately, India Palace has really gone downhill in a short span of time. My first time here, I was very pleased with the service and the food. My second time, the food was solid, but the service slipped. After my most recent visit, I'm sad to write this update. Came here at about 1245 on a Saturday afternoon. Two other parties were there when we arrived. We were seated and given water. After about 10 minutes, we were handed menus. We let the owner know that we would be eating off the menu, and not getting the buffet. After placing our order at 12:59, our order did not arrive until about 1:40. I understand they only have 2 waiters, including the owner, but come on! Everyone else in the restaurant was having the buffet, besides us. I will say that it did get a bit busier right when we sat down, but this isn't really an excuse (Party of about 14, dressed in nice clothes came in a bit after us. Also, 3 families of 4 and a couple; they all had the buffet). The most frustrating part was seeing the huge party of 14 get a dish from the kitchen before we received our dishes (about 15 minutes before). Maybe they had something 'called in,' but I doubt it. The service was subpar as well. It took about 25 minutes for my friends to get their drinks; luckily I had water. I don't think I'll ever have India Palace again. Maybe I'll try the buffet, but if you want good service, I would not recommend this place.

I found this place when I had first moved to the area last year and usually ordered take out. I was super excited to introduce my boyfriend to it. I always loved Indian food and he had seen me eat it on a few occasions but I don't think he ever had Indian food so he was curious. One night I surprised him and ordered us some chicken tikka masala, it was his first time trying it and he loved it! That made me happy!! We both love the sauce and so I thought of an idea and now I order the tikka masala sauce separate and I make some extra chicken breast at home and cauliflower and we have enough food for dinner and leftovers for lunch for both of us. Another must that we love to share are the vegetable samosas. Their chutneys are so good and we love to dip the samosas in the chutneys and also the raita. My boyfriend and I would get this take out regularly. Unfortunately I moved out of the area a couple mos back. Well for Valentine's Day, I decided to order a feast from India Palace to surprise him. As always I got us some chicken tikka masala (and extra sauce doctored up with my chicken and cauliflower -- Chef Daisy in the house). I also ordered some shrimp curry for us, and added some extra giant shrimps; complete with our veggie samosas and I even got him some garlic naan and aloo paratha - since he loves the bread. It was a wonderful, memorable evening. I think I surprised the heck out of him and he realized (even more - although we didn't think it was possible) just how hinge-worthy that night was. I will definitely surprise my man with more feasts from this awesome place until we are at least 63 years old!

Great buffet. Compact with about 15 main dishes. Including a fantastic table side serving of tandoori chicken and naan. All the dishes are excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean and pleasant. A fantastic combination of flavor and value.

My fiance and I were craving for indian food last night and we happened to stumble upon this place. Being new to the IL area, we wanted to see what this place might offer. We started out with garlic naan and raita. It was amazing. My fiance loved it. For the main course, we had vegetable biryani, fish chutney, pahari aloo and my favorite, chicken tikka masala. This might be a lot for 2 people but we wanted to the eat the leftovers for lunch. Anyway, all the dishes were amazing. The service was very good as well. For the price of each main course though, I think they should serve bigger portions. Otherwise, we had a great meal at this place.

i absolutely LOVE this place! Although it is a 12 mile drive, it is so worth it! we have been going there for so many years and they never seem to disappoint. The food, service, and environment within the restaurant is flawless. I would recommend that anyone who has not tried good indian food yet, GO HERE!

This is easily my favorite place for dinner. The food is always delicious and the service great. The lassi is really tasty here too. We almost always get the vegetable samosas to start and they are so delicious and perfectly cooked. We usually get the saffron rice or lamb briyani with lamb madras and chicken tandoori. I've never been here for the lunch buffet but I've heard very good things about it. Someday I will! The calm enviroment and absolutely beautiful decor also helps gives this place five stars.

$10 for a full carryout box of their lunch buffet to-go, which includes a huge piece of naan, 3 pc tandoori chicken, and a plastic side dish container that you could fill up with fruit, soup/sauces/curry, or mango ice cream (which was what I chose haha). I originally had planned on picking something from their menu and ordering it for carryout, but the employee recommended their lunch buffet to-go. I'm glad I went with that because it let me sample a lot of their dishes. Their buffet spread had about 8-10 entrees/appetizers, fruit, chutnies, mango ice cream, and I can't remember more. Shared between two people, we still couldn't finish everything. I liked that there was a spiciness to some of their dishes. It was a mild spiciness for me, but then again, I have a fairly high tolerance. I really can't remember any of the food names except maybe the tikka masala and goat curry lol; I'm a huge newb with Indian food, though I love curry & samosas, so I can't vouch for authenticity. However, I enjoyed all of the food taste-wise. The reason why it's a 4 instead of a 5 is that none of the items stood out for me or elicited an omg-so-good reaction.

Great tandoori items and curries with complex flavors. I've only tried about twenty things off of their 100+ item menu, but the worst thing I had was still pretty tasty. I love their Masala Dosa, Saag Paneer, the Chicken Tikka, the Malai Kofta, the Baigan Bharta... Everything has been well seasoned and fresh when ordered ala carte (I can't speak for their lunch buffet).

Stopped here for lunch - great little spot! Even my Indian-born co-worker was impressed. Seems to have a medium-sized lunch buffet (I appreciated this - better to not have too many choices, makes it hard to know what to try) and they were well-labelled, well-made, well-flavored. The carrots side, chicken tikka, and mango ice cream were the stars - I'll be back!

Not really impressed. As soon as you walk in, looks pretty broken down. Inside decor looks like you are in somebody's basement rather than a dining establishment. It was so hot in there (90 degrees outside) and they did not have the air conditioning on. They said it was bc people did not want it to be cold. Come on. Food was not good either. Only 2 vegetarian dishes. Do not go!

I enjoyed this place so much, I actually had lunch here two days in a row. Charged half price for my 2 year-old son, which I can't complain about since he sometimes eats more than I do. Fresh tandoori chicken and naan were brought to our table. Maybe the best paneer makhani I've ever had. Good kheer and mango ice cream, too.

The food is above average, but I wouldn't give it a spectacular review. There is certainly a good variety of Indian food and I'm by no means an expert when it comes to Indian food, but I've been to a couple other places up in the Schaumburg area that had about twice the number of options. The Tandoori Chicken here is on par with other places I've been to. The naan seemed a little bit bland. The service was hit or miss. I came here for a birthday party in a group of about twenty people, and the wait staff was awesome at filling drinks and giving us whatever we needed. However, towards the end of the time (around 2:15pm), they were a bit over eager in trying to remove our plates and get us out of there. There came a point when they would just remove our dishes without asking if we were done and it got to be a bit ridiculous. The price was decent for the lunch hour (around $10 including tip) but I think the food isn't as good as other Indian restaurants in the area and the wait staff got to be a bit rude.

To my surprise my husband came home raving about this place and never have I been able to get him to set foot in an indian place since we have been dating. When he love a place he always want to go to two days later he is back with me to try the chicken tikka marsala, spinach rice, naan, and the chicken Tikka boneless. I love the marsala, I just couldn't stop eating it with the naan. The spinach rice was a huge portion. and the tikka was like butter in your mouth, full of spice and yet tender.

I would have given this place 4-5 stars a year ago, but they have fallen off recently. They don't seem to give a small Tandoori Chicken plate for a starter, like they used to. You have to order it, which is fine I guess in hard times, but last I ordered it came out really dry. The service was the worst, but it wasn't rude at all, just really slow. We sat by the door for 15 minutes before we even got acknowledged and then they said we will be with you shortly, haha! My favorite dish that I will keep coming back for is the Shikari Tikka!! Soooo good!!

I recently had the lunch buffet, and had to go by myself because no one was willing to try Indian food with me. Bums. Anyway, I was pleasantly delighted by my trip to India Palace. The service was good-- I was able to eat and enjoy my food and play Words with Friends without being bothered. Score! The naan and tandori chicken are lovely. I also had chicken makhani some green curry type dish that I liked. The rice is good too. Good price for a lunch buffet also. Overall, if you like Indian food, or just want a new experience, check this place out.

Excellent buffet! Came in on a Saturday afternoon and opted for the buffet. Great selection, and tandoori chicken and naan is served table side. Samosas and gulab gamun were also part if the deal. Great tasting food and friendly home-y service.

Good buffet, great catering and a great location for a large group. I've come here for the buffet several times and I haven't been disappointed yet. The food here is very good and that's a good variety for a buffet. The various curry based dishes are good, not too spicy, but with good flavor. After a heavy meal with Indian spices, the mango iced cream is always welcome. I've also had India Palace catered when I had an Indian themed party. They were able to offer several recommendations, including some vegetable dishes (which I don't normally think of), just based on the number of people attending. They were very prompt and all the food was prepared on time. They also helped me bring all the food out to the curb and load it into my car. Overall, a great place for Indian food, a place I'll definitely visit again, and after hearing they have biryani (Indian roasted rice usually with another meat), I'll definitely have to go again.

Probably a 3.25 star rating :) Super nice staff, great paranthas, but I'm beginning to think that not getting rice with a dish is an Illinois thing. Paneer Makhani does not lack chunks of soft paneer, but its overly sweet to the point I've had to add salt both times I ordered this dish (thought the first time was a fluke). I've never done the buffet but hear great things about it. Prices are actually pretty decent compared to some other Indian restaurants.

Slightly annoying that everything, including rice is ala carte, but the food was terrific. The Chicken Tikka Masala was smooth and creamy, the Naan was warm and just the right amount of soft and crispy. Highly recommended!

Hayward 5000 beer washes down spicy sizzling lamb chops, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken and many other culinary delights. The buffet is good but if you want the full experience and flavor order off the menu. Very friendly and helpful staff can help guide you to new experiences in dining. This is my favorite restaurant for Indian food! MMMMMMM!

Terrible. My first time for Indian food... I hated it. My friends who brought me there told me that I shouldn't judge the genre of food by this place because they thought it was gross too and they like Indian food... I'll have to update If i find that I just don't like Indian food. the food on the buffet was cold and bland.

Takeout Review: These folks know how to make Indian food - fantastic! Navarattan Korma is favorite - healthy too. Fantastic main courses and strong flavors make India Place my hot-spot for Indian spice. You'll have to follow the coupon link to access their menu but it vast! Pros: Tremendous variety, outstanding dishes, fresh food, Indian Ice Cream! Cons: None yet

This is an unremarkable North Indian restaurant with friendly service. I came with my parents and we had a number of dishes of varying quality. The aloo mattar was too liquid for my likes, which drowned out the spices and seasoning. The veg. manchurian was too soft (it needs to be crispier on the outside) and overly salty but it's a rare dish to find in the US, so I was pleased they offered it at all. The mustard leaves dish we had was quite good in terms of flavor, though I would have preferred it lightly sauteed (India Palace pureed the dish, making it more like a pudding). The yellow dahl was passable. The tandoori roti was okay and worked well enough. Many dishes can be modified to be vegan; I specified that no dairy (cream/butter/ghee/yogurt) be used in any dishes and they were more than willing to accommodate me. Like 99.9% of Indian restaurants, brown rice was not available. Worse yet, white rice was an extra charge of $3. This is price-gouging (that rice probably cost the restaurant a few cents at most), and also just cheap and insulting on the part of the restaurant management. Rice is a basic staple with an Indian meal and to charge your customers that much, for such a critical (and inherently inexpensive) ingredient, is shameful. On a whole, I wouldn't go out of my way to try India Palace. If you happen to be in the far western suburbs of Chicago, this place is acceptable, but not any better (or worse) than any other Indian restaurant in the area.

Not the BEST Indian restaurant I've been to, but the 5 stars are very well deserved. I've gone there a number of times in the past few years. I especially like the buffet. It is among the best-quality buffets I've ever had. My favorite dishes are the saag paneer and the chicken tikka masala. I'm getting hungry just writing about them! There's another dish I really like, but I can't think of the name of it right now. I'll have to make sure, next time I'm there, to write it down and update my review. Service has always been very very good.

I love india palace so much that if i had to choose giving up my kidney or never having india palace again. I would give up kidney without even a second thought. Not only is the food great, every one that works there is so kind and friendly that they make your dining experience lovely. Mango Lassi is a delicious drink and it compliments the food. Paneer Bhurji (My favorite) is so good that it makes you want to kiss the chefs ass for making such a wonderful tasting food. Vegetable Biryani is great rice that goes well with the paneer bhurji and nan. there is sooo much more but i cannot explain it all ^ that just happens to be my favorite. But test the waters order whatever looks appetizing and ask for recommendations from the staff. No matter what you order im positive it will be good. I just wish i somehow was born into the restaurant owner's family that way i could eat this food everyday for the rest of my life on the house.

Dude, just checked my bookmarks and noted that I hadn't reviewed India Palace. How could I have not. I love these guys--yes, that means you Ganga! (He's the owner) We hit their lunch buffet whenever we're in the area. The saag murg is sublime, the chicken makhani is buttery with a hint of sweet. Fresh roti is a must and they always accommodate my preference of roti over naan. He has excellent masala chai which I'd guzzle by the gallon if I could. Great atmosphere, friendly service. last time I was there I tried to get Ganga to tell me what was in his bangan bartha. As I listed off the ingredients he smiled and gave me and affirmative nod with each. I love when they will do that. Still every restaurant and chef is slightly different and I really enjoy his recipes and will go back again, and again, and again and again!

Here's my M.O.: I pop in at India Palace, randomly put my finger down on the list of food in the Menu, order whatever my finger lands on with a side of naan, run out to do some shopping at Jewel and when I come back it's all packaged up and ready for me to take home. I've done this three times and never have I come home with anything I don't just love! The orders all come with a tiny container of rice, I wish they gave more. But the main dish itself is enough for two people. They also throw in three chutneys: a spicy mango, dhania puree, and is it a plum sauce? And the naan is piping hot and wrapped in foil. The place never seems very busy, the service is very professional and polite. I only wish I lived closer to this restaurant. I'd be eating Indian food every week! One main dish, rice and naan for take-out: $11.90

I would have to agree with the general consensus. This place is awesome! I tried the chicken makhani and tiki masala. They must use some sort of smokey flavoring additive because that chicken was super barbequey. I'm used to cubes of chicken, but this was large chunks of slightly pulled chicken. Very classy. I was slightly perplexed that the menu describes paneer as 'cubes of cottage cheese,' but I didnt get a chance to ask.

I was honestly very nervous trying Indian food but this was the perfect place for my first time. The menu is overwhelming but the staff has wonderful suggestions. We got a lot of different things and they were ALL delicious. The chicken curry was awesome. If your looking for something light the chicken tandoori was good and the yogurt sauce it came with was unreal. The lamb saag was very flavorful and had an awesome kick to it. Garlic naan is also a must. I will definitely be going back!!

We have never had a bad meal here! The food is perfectly seasoned and fragrant and the service is friendly and attentive. The chutneys are the best we've had.The decor won't knock your socks off so focus on the food. It's not on the menu, but ask for the Paneer Tikka Masala, they'll make it and it's delicious. Butter Chicken is also wonderful. My only complaint is the crispy papadum they give you before the meal. I'd much prefer naan. Small complaint. Great place.

Awesome food! Stepped in to try the lunch buffet which was great than the waiter brings me the best tandoori chicken I have ever had. A word of warning lunch starts at 11am ends at 2pm then they close until dinner service starts at 5pm. Prices are good food is even better.

I went here with 3 other people on a Tuesday evening. There were a couple other tables so it wasn't completely empty. First off, let me start off by sayin you will have to pay for everything except the chutney... I guess cause it's a "palace" they feel obligated to do that. Rice. Naan. Roti. Raita. Yes, even if you order biryani you have to order the yogurt a la carte. That's a minus star right there. Prices are not too bad. But add on a few extras and the bill easily climbs up there. The service is good. Our waiter assumed we had no idea what Indian food was, but he soon realized that was not the case. We ordered some tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, roti, naan, raita, samosas, butter chicken, and lamb seekh kabobs. The portions were very generous and we ended up having to take most of it home. We finished off with some galab jamun (however you spell it) and some orange kulfi, which was pastachio ice cream frozen inside an orange peel. The one downside was they didn't really ask us about spicyness when we ordered. I don't mind a little spice but the couple I was with does not really like anything hotter than mild. We should have specified when we ordered, but everything came out medium-hot. In all it was ok though. I heard the buffet is good though, and I'm sure a better value.

Whenever I'm in the area at lunch time, I stop by this place. For under $10, their lunch buffet is an excellent deal. The lunch buffet includes as much naan and tandori chicken you care to eat along with a good selection of other dishes including saag murg, masala chai, and chicken makhani. They also have some fresh fruit, rice pudding, and mango ice cream. I like this place better than Viceroy of India, which was my previous favorite before I found this place. I've had dinner there a couple times. There is no buffet at dinner, and the atmosphere is a lot nicer, but the prices are a lot higher. At lunch, two of us can dine for about $20. At dinner, the bill is usually around $60 for two of us.

This place exceeded my expectations BY FAR! This is located in a strip mall by a resale shop, a Comcast office and a Jewel Grocery Store. So I really didn't expect much. I have pretty low standards when I go out, I just want to eat, have it taste good and not do the dishes. The food here was GREAT! People were falling over themselves to help us out. We met another couple there for dinner and were very chatty. The waiter kept coming over asking us if we were ready to order. Finally we figured out a signal so he would let us be until we were ready. The Tandoori chicken was so tasty - moist and a generous portion at that. We also had some fish which was very tender and flavorful. The lamb was a disappointment according to hubby. They had some great Indian beer which was in these JUMBO bottles (sorry can't remember the name). That was a very nice surprise!

I've been here at least 3 times a month this summer. Everything I've had here has been good. I haven't had something I didn't like. The menu covers a wide range of dishes both veg and non-veg. You'll find favorites like Butter Chicken and Chicken Tika, but also be able to explore some other options as well. Having been to India, there are some dishes on this menu that take me back there like the Bhindi Masala. All of the breads and rices are good as well. The service is very nice and attentive. I drink a lot of water during my meals and I don't think my glass ever got below half full. Additionally the staff is friendly and willing to give you recommendations if you ask for them. Prices are reasonable and portions are perfect. It is also nice that it is open until 10 pm most nights. When dining with two people, I recommend each ordering a dish and either rice or bread and splitting everything. That way each person gets the best of both worlds. Also, keep in mind the Lunch Buffet, offered everyday, to get a little of this and a little of that. Whether you're an Indian food fan or a newbie trying out new flavors, I definitely recommend India Palace.

This is a great find, especially for Wheaton. The food is way above average for Indian food here in the Mid West. My dad who grew up in India, asked for Goat curry and they had it for him, made his day. The best Indian in the west suburbs so far.

I love this place, totally addicted to Indian food at the moment. They have a terrific Lamb Saag, for those of you who are a bit squeamish their Tandoori chicken (chicken marinated in yogurt and spices. Yum!!) or Chicken Curry are also very good. Naan is decent and their mango shakes are just right. Carry out is quick too, a little on the pricey side for me but whatever.

My best friend is Indian and when she moved here we tried this place for the first time together. She loved it. If we go out that is where we go for Indian. Her parents are diplomats for India and when they came to visit this is the only place she would take them. Clean, super sweet and polite staff and patient with newbies like me. I love the chili Paneer and the Goat Curry. Very little I have not tried there and love it all. When I want to eat healthy I go for the Tandoori Shrimp (no rice or bread) The best!

this is probably one of my favorite Indian restaurants! The food is really good and i eat here quite often, especially for lunch. They have a great lunch buffet and it always changes. There is plenty of parking and shopping nearby so it makes the location even better! I think my only problem is that they close between lunch and dinner, so go early if you're planning to eat lunch.

I've only been here once, in November of last year, but probably won't return...all I can say is, "too bad". They have a good beer selection, and their samosas are the bomb.com , but the guy who presumably owns the place stood at the back and stared at my friend and I the entire time we were eating, it was pretty creepy and awkward (magnified by the lack of any sort of ambient music). I just don't get it. I intended to say something to him before we left but I chickened out. Like he literally did not break his gaze once. Kind of glowering, like he was pissed at us for something, which is really weird, because we were good patrons, lol; spent a good amount of money, were quiet and polite, tipped well. Super WHAT. Anyway, onto what really matters, the food....lots of vegan options. Had the veggie samosas and pakoras, papadams, dal soup, sag allu, channa masala, allu mattar, with chappati on the side (note: their naan is NOT vegan).

Really, really excellent Indian food in an unexpected place. I've been there twice and have been happy with everything I've ordered. If you like your Indian food spicy, let them know and they'll deliver. The mango lassi is thick and flavorful. Prices are reasonable (I always think Indian food is priced a little high). The only complaint I have is that the service is sometimes a little slow, but I've never been in much of a hurry anyway. I've only been there for dinner, so I'm anxious to try their lunch buffet.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams.
