We ate here for a late dinner and also breakfast the next morning. For the evening meal we shared a Greek chicken dinner that was flavorful and large enough for both of us. The server was excellent giving suggestions and being attentive. Breakfast was also a good size portion at a reasonable price.

Disgusting disappointed. Waitress was nice but do not eat the chicken... This used to be a favorite food stop for my group of Springfield Mile race goers. No more. The food appeared to have been out all day. Fruit flys were everywhere. Bigger flys were dive bombing our table like crazy... $28.00 for 2 at this place was a rip off. I wouldn't feed my family this food. The owners were sitting next to the food bar oblivious to the condition... We sat here purposely for an hour to see if anyone even looked at the salad/food buffet. Nope. Not once. The owner finally got tired of swatting flys with his hand and got a fly swatter and started chasing them around the desserts... I'm surprised the health department doesn't shut this place down before someone gets sick...

My wife and I met two frIends here at midday -- we ordered two breakfast specials, a sandwich combo plate and a lunch special. Everyone was satisfied and the prices were reasonable too. Our server was friendly, courteous and accurate. Comfort food in a comfortable atmosphere.

The owners supposedly ran off and it is now called the Starlite Cafe. Regardless it is just the management that's changed, not the menu or the kitchen staff. My fiance and I just left there and we were less than impressed.. I had liver and onions, he had chicken fried steak. He was satisfied with his meal, but I was not. The liver did not taste like liver and anyone who has had liver knows the proper taste of it and this simply did not taste good. I told my waitress and she was very apologetic and kind. I didn't want anything else so we waited for our bill. When we got it I seen that we were not comped for the liver. I asked to speak with the manager who didn't come out to talk to me but just relayed his wishes to the waitress who told me that the manager looked at the plate we sent back and said that it was cooked properly so he wasn't going to comp it. So he didn't taste it which was what I sent it back for? In the end I payed for half the liver and onions.. This experience ( and the liver! ) left a bad taste in my mouth.. We will not be back.

We use to eat here all the time. This place has gone downhill! The food is horrible, the service was ok. What's really weird is that the guy workers just stand around staring at you the whole time your there! Creepy! The place is gross! At least they got rid of their buffet, that they never took care of.

Cold fried chicken on the dinner buffet (@ 6:27pm??!!! ), ribs are tough, roast beef, green beans, and mac & cheese have zero seasoning. I'm embarrassed for them, serving southern food and not cooking it true southern style. I was holding out hope the coffee would be decent, but they only have the pink packets, no Splenda. Really? NOT a do-over.

I almost tried the 15 egg omelette challenge but went with all you can eat rib special, I need to try this place again when i'm more hungry!

We stopped here for dinner during a recent visit to Taylorville. It was Friday, so lots of people were having the all-you-can-eat fried fish. We opted for less huge portions, but both still ended up with two filets of fish as our standard dinner entrees. I had broiled talapia, which was really flaky and juicy, with good citrus flavor. BF had the "broasted" fish, which had a cornmeal crust, but which did not appear to be fried. it was also light and flaky. We each had a baked potato, and mine also came with rice, while his was accompanied by corn. The servers were all very friendly and attentive, the salad forgettable (but we didn't really have high hopes for the salad in this kind of place), and the clientele very entertaining. It sort of had a Baker's Square vibe and menu selection. Don't go here if you aren't hungry.
