My experience at this place was HORRIBLE. The restaurant itself is very dirty. We were placed in a booth with crumbs all over the seat, syrup on the table and dead bugs on the windowsill. Service was incredibly mediocre. My order came out completely wrong and when I asked the waitress, she attempted to argue with me and in the end, charged me a higher price than my order with no apologies, hospitality, or sincere respect for the customer. This is by far the worst place in the Sycamore area.

We had a lovely breakfast there this morning. The waitress was very friendly and kept the coffee full and fresh. I had the skillet eggs and hash browns with ham, mushrooms and cheese. Yummy. Way too much food but very tasty!

First time trying the loaded breakfast wrap. With the salsa, it was over the top! Both my husband and I will be back next Sunday. My only complaint: bathroom floor dirty. Could use new tile.

Traditional diner. Excellent food and they did a good job. The servers are very friendly and attentive.

I've only been to Parkway for breakfast, but they do a pretty good job of getting the food out to you in a timely manner and making sure it tastes good. The service can be pretty meh (I once waited 20 minutes just for a glass of water). The French toast was pretty good, but the bacon was dry and over done. Overall, I'd most likely come back. Maybe for lunch one of these days.

Traditional diner. Not bad, but not amazing. We always have a good experience. Nice staff.

Once is enough for us. After seeing the other Yelp reviews, I was very disappointed with our visit to the Parkway. I got fried chicken (advertised as the best in N. IL). The salad/bread/veggie was as expected...but the chicken was dry and extremely salty. I like salt as much as the next guy...but this was over-the-top salty. It was quite possibly the worst fried chicken I've ever tasted. The fries were bland and overcooked (salt wouldn't stick to them...so I washed them down with lots of ketchup). My wife didn't care for her salad entree. On a positive note, my young sons (5 and 3) were happy with their hot dog and chicken fingers. They gave us a lot of food...it's too bad we couldn't enjoy eating it. We don't intend to return. Dekalb/Sycamore has a dearth of quality restaurants...but there are much better options than the Parkway. The service was fairly good...and the host was very pleasant and talked to us more than most hosts do.

We happened upon this gem after we visited the Midwest Museum of Natural History. The Parkway is a clean establishment with great food and service.

The food is five-star worthy, but the service is a little slow. Still, it's the best diner in the Sycamore/DeKalb area. Yes, get the creamy garlic dressing, even if you don't order a salad. OMG.

It is a traditional diner. They have a great selection on the menu. The dinners and deserts are reasonably priced. Coffee flows hot and regularly. The staff are indifferent. The host will greet you at the stand, grab menus, and gesture for you to follow him. He will drop the stack of menus on a table and walk away usually without saying a word. If you get seated in the back room, they may forget about you. Sometimes we wait for five to ten minutes before anyone comes by to give us water or greet us. The coffee refills do not pour as often. So try to request booth in the front dining section! Everything on the menu is typical diner taste and quality. The salads are more exceptional though, and you can make a meal out of one. The fried chicken is decent. Burgers are OK.

This is one of my favorite diners in the Chicago area even though Sycamore is not too close to Chicago. The chicken and biscuits is one of the best specials they have, but they only have it on Wednesday. They have a good selection of specials every day and you would do well to order any of them. If you get a salad with your meal it is a nice portion. Often a salad with a dinner is a small or tiny portion. I recommend the creamy garlic dressing. This is a good place to splurge and get desert. They have a good selection of home made deserts and some that are not run of the mill as well. This restaurant offers good home made cooking at a reasonable price.

Here we sit once again, 5:30 PM and out of the soup of the day AGAIN! 3.5 stars. How hard is it to experiment to get this dialed in better?

Your basic bad cafe food. Almost as bad as the Junction on Dekalb. I barely got in the car before I had sharp pains in my stomach. I'm sure it was food poisoning. Haven't been back in 7 years.

For a greasy spoon that serves up breakfast staples and burgers, I love that this place has a glorious yet simple vegetarian option: a sandwich with avocado, alfalfa sprouts, and tomato. That's basically a BLT for non-meat eaters like me! The sandwich also comes with a large fresh fruit garnish as well as a fruit cup. I've also indulged in a raisin bran muffin that was hot and huge. An affordable and friendly place for a simple and satisfying lunch.

Parkway is in a pretty good location -- it's on 64 heading towards St Charles and across from the golf course. It has - and has always had - great service. It can be slow, but the servers are friendly and attentive, so you never feel like you're being "ignored" or passed over. My only criticism is the food. The last time I ate here was before I left for Mississippi, and the food was great. Now, not so much. The food (I ordered a ham and cheese omelette) was bland, and I felt like I was eating straight cheese instead of an omelette, there was so much of it. I'm hoping this is a one-off; I really am. It's a warm, friendly place with good people, but the food quality can use attention.

Pros 1. The servers are most always wonderful, very friendly and attentive. 2. The homemade desserts are always quite good! 3. The breakfast food is always a solid bet here. The pancakes (especially the blueberry) are fluffy with just the right amount of chewy...they absorb the butter and syrup like a sponge, but never are mealy or fall apart. Quite a treat. 4. The homemade soups are usually pretty good. They only come in "bowl" size, not "cup", so be prepared for something a little more substantial. 5. Free wifi! Which is great if you want to go in with a laptop and do a little work while you have coffee and pie, etc. :) Cons: 1. The rolls they serve with the soups are in little sealed plastic bags. I assume these must come from a food service or something, but they're really unappetizing. They're not worth the caloric investment. 2. They renovated the place a couple years ago, and had the booths reupholstered. That's a good thing, of course, but the color/stylistic choices are a little weird. It's kind of a mish-mash look, not very coherent. 3. Fries are your typical food service crinkle cut, unfortunately. Parkway is a nice, solid diner, and I'm glad they're here in Sycamore!

The Parkway is a classic 'greasy spoon' kind of restaurant. It was only a 2-minute drive from my apartment so I went here with some frequency while I lived in Sycamore. Everything was reasonably priced, but the best part of this place was it's Americana feel and home-style cooking. I'm very happy Sycamore had an eatery like Parkway!

This is one of my Grandma's favorite restaurants, and she lives at Oak Crest in DeKalb, so we come here almost every time we visit her. This time I had the Reuben, and my dad had the chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce. Both were good. The place is handicapped-accessible, clean, and friendly. It's not fine white-tablecloth dining, but they do a pretty good job overall.
