Fresh Thai and Vietnamese food cooked just right, and tasted delicious. We were ravenously hungry and ordered Tom yum soup and couple of other dishes. Good stuff, the waitstaff was efficient, and overall good meal

Wasn't really impressed. Maybe a different menu choice would change my review. However, they are supposedly a Vietnamese restaurant but not a single Bánh mì on the menu at all (a serious bummer) but they do have Pho. They have lots of Asian dishes on the menu aside from Vietnamese though including Chinese, Thai. I WISH I had gone with a Thai curry dish but I figured since they are Vietnamese, stick with that genre. I got pork and shrimp Vietnamese pancakes. Two HUGE pancakes arrived which contained a total of exactly 4 shrimp and 4 small pieces of pork plus 1/2lb of bean sprouts. The pancakes were greasy and the sauce served with them was crazy sweet - like they melted down jelly beans or something. Service was great and the place was really packed. Like I said, I think my rating would have been better with a different food choice. Not impressed today.

May have been a bit too excited about finding Vietnamese food in Central Illinois. Back again and waited around 5 mins for the host to notice us to seat us - even though he was standing directly in front of us taking phone orders. Also the smell coming from the bathroom was wafting into the rest of the restaurant which was really unappealing. Pho was good but since we ordered only 2 bowls - we were only given one plate of the toppings (basil, sprouts, cilantro, jalapeños). When I asked for more we were informed that was the serving for two bowls. Not a big deal but the toppings are the best part!

I love it here. It's such a cute building and everything I've ever had here is amazing! I've had the chicken satay, steamed dumplings (app), pad see lew (I know some places it's eew), lad nar, everything is great. They're very friendly and enjoy your business! I also highly recommend getting a fruit cup or a "freeze". It's literally ice and the fruit of your choice...AMAZING! So it's actually a really great place to eat if you want to watch your diet..or not! They also have flavors like avocado and coconut. I love it here. Some of the best food in springfield and not too expensive!

This place was delightful. Being from out of town and just passing through I'm thoroughly disappointed this place is so far from me. Waiter was polite, attentive, and courteous. The place was not dingy as some Asian restaurants can be. The menu has accompanying pictures and descriptions for every dish which I thought was a great idea, especially for non-Thai food aficionados. I ordered the Crab Rangoon which were 6 smaller packets which I prefer over the folded triangle variety. The wrapper was crispy and not greasy, very light. The inside was a tad too cream cheesy but still delicious. For my entree I got the Soldier in the Sea, which was a mix of seafood in red curry sauce and served with white rice. Normally I order tofu red curry at Thai restaurants and dump all my rice in it and dig in. This was not the case. The red curry was incredibly flavorful and I didn't want to fill up on rice or dilute it in any way. The seafood mix had shrimp, imitation crab, baby scallops, and clams. But it also had a great variety of vegetables in it too. Broccoli, bamboo shoots, carrots, straw mushrooms, and green peppers. This was the best, most flavorful, and interesting mix of ingredients in red curry I've ever had. I will be back for this alone. My lunch partner ordered the "grilled chicken with rice" I don't recall the menu name. It was just as described and accompanied by a mix of shredded greens on his plate with some sort or clear "dressing" (for lack of a better word) (which was pretty rank tasting in my opinion). He did not enjoy his meal. The chicken had a very stringy and chewy texture (I tried a bite myself) and the flavor tasted of old fish and bland at the same time. It was not good and a complete 180° from my meal. Unfortunately this put a damper on his experience but he'd still try something else next time so it wasn't a total bust. Perhaps it was an off night for the dish. Overall I was very impressed with my meal, and the service, and the restaurant as a whole. I will definitely return, and recommend.

WOW...what a great restaurant. I arrived to a great smelling entry...standing room wait as every seat was taken. After being seated... looking over the menu takes some time as it has quite the number of dishes. I settled upon the Tum Yum Goong soup which is a hot & sour soup with a unique sweet taste, with onion, cilantro, mushrooms, lemon grass, and shrimp. It is awesome. I also choose a shrimp and squid stir fry, with yellow and green onions. What an awesome meal, great service, nice atmosphere. Local family business...your neighbors and friends...give your support.

Let me be clear when i give a place five stars it means that i had a great experience in its category. Just left little saigon and was so impressed. We had the panang curry and mongolian beef, thai iced te and cold spring rolls and thai vegetables w/ ricw, all wonderfull and the price 40 w/ tax. The service was wonderful and the ambience is very nice. Just a great experience my first in springfield Il. If you are in Springfield ,Illinois give this place a try, i will again for sure.

Food was excellent. Our waitresses Wendy was outstanding. Price was REALLY reasonable. we would've paid a lot more...the best summer rolls ever. A must go to restaurant.

The wife is from Saigon, and she rarely gets treated to Vietnamese food now that we live in a cornfield, so I make every effort to take her to an underwhelming, hole-in-the-wall, Midwest place for Vietnamese food. But, Little Saigon knocked off her socks. She got the Saigon sampler, which is served on a platter big enough for four people, and she ate the whole thing. Highlights included chao tom, shrimp paste on sugar cane, which I've not seen at other restaurants. The crazy/drunken noodle was also exceptionally good. Not much else to say about an exceptional restaurant. Solid five stars thanks in no small part to the prices. Little Saigon is an unparalleled bargain and one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Illinois I've tasted so far.

Man oh man...I would have never imagined such outstanding Thai food in the Mid West. Let's dive into it... - The setting - tacky and unassuming. Doesn't matter, the booths are comfy and the place is cozy. - The service: excellent. An outstanding young man served us. He earned a huge tip and a good word put in. - The food: Amazing. I tried the Pad Thai, Chicken and Vegetables and a spicy chicken dish. All great quality. The egg drop soup was a good starter along with veggie rolls. If for some reason you find yourself in Springfield, head over in this direction. When I return, I will be there!

I'm eating stale rice cakes because I told them no wheat! I just want Rice noodles and veggies, and they bring me lo mein, which is a wheat flour noodle!

My wife and I have come here at least once a week since we moved to Springfield in June, and we have yet to have a single less-than-stellar dish. We've bounced around most of the menu, too, and they continue to impress with their consistent high quality and speed of service. We highly recommend that everyone enjoy this fine establishment!

Excellent food and service. Clean to a fault! One of the best!

It's pretty much our favorite restaurant in Springfield. I go about one every two weeks and my daughter and I always enjoy the Saigon Special (two entrees, and and appetizer for $16.99). It's inexpensive and pretty much everything is well done. Our staples are Pad Thai with shrimp, Panang Curry with vegetables and Summer Rolls but I've tried just about everything on the menu. The Summer Rolls are so great we order them to go and add them to other meals we make at home!!! Everything is fresh and authentic and the menus isn't watered down. The staff is always on spot (shout out to Adam our favorite server) and the lady (who I take to be the manager/owner) remembers clients and is always super friendly.

We must got the wrong orders. Both of us didn't like our food. 303 Mi Bo Kho $8.25. Soup is good. Carrots are good. When everything goes together, it is somehow not right. The noodle is a big mistake for the dish. 601 Com Dac Biet $8.55. Looks great, but pork chop is over cooked, greasy and hard. I love the green onion sauce and the egg. But pork chop ruined everything. Not a good choice. Slow service is acceptable. If there is a next time, I must make sure to get the right orders.

I have always wanted to try this restaurant and I have always forgot about it when me and my husband go out to eat. However, we were looking for a place to eat, and drove by here. I was very happy with the food. I got shrimp lo mein while my husband got the curry. When I first saw my food I was a little disappointed at the proportion amount, however it turns out there was so much food I couldn't eat it all. Very good, decent prices and will stop by again

I love this place. Food is great, the ambience is good, although it seems small, its actually pretty big inside. If you like spicy food, get a spicy curry fried rice, it's awesome.

My problem with Vietnamese food is that I like it too much. I went into this restaurant with the intention of getting pho only to find myself ordering some summer rolls (minus the pork) and Mongolian beef. Summer rolls -- because I love them -- and Mongolian beef because I've been searching for good Mongolian beef ever since I moved out of Michigan. This was actually probably the second best mongolian beef I've had and it was only second best because I found it to be a little salty...and I like mine saucier. Unfortunately, I don't live close enough to Springfield to make this a regular stop. The restaurant wasn't too crowded but you could tell that the people there were regulars and were known by the staff. Since I don't have any plans to travel back to Springfield, I'll still report that I saw it as a good sign that they had so many repeat customers. Even though I was incredibly full, I couldn't resist getting a bubble tea. I ended up going with avocado and it was surprisingly good though next time I'd go back to getting lychee which is my favorite. I got it to go and I was only able to drink half of it or I would have exploded from too much food. All in all, I definitely think you should check this place out if you happen to be in the neighborhood!

Great Vietnamese food. Don't be scared, try everything that is not your basic "chop suey." Korean beef ribs, the Vietnamese sampler plate, mi xi dong are some of my favorites!!!

VERY pleasant surprise. I was in town with a friend on a Sunday and we wanted something different. Most places we're closed for the day which was odd but we found this place and decided to walk in. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was beyond pleasing!! I ordered marinated beef over fried rice and an over easy egg on top. I haven't stopped dreaming about this meal since and feel salty I can't stop by and get it whenever I want. Also had the chicken wings which were just crispy and had a flavor of seasonings I've not tried before. Definitely worth the chance if you've never had Vietnamese or want something different, you won't be disappointed!

Had tried this place several years ago & was horribly disappointed however gave it another try tonight & had my faith renewed in the other reviews. This was a completely different place than what I had previously tried. Clean, nice colors, nice wait staff & very explanatory menu.

My boyfriend is from the Springfield area and I'm originally from Chicago. The first time I introduced him to Pho was in Viet Town in Chicago. Little Saigon is hands down the best place (in my opinion) in Springfield for authentic Viet food. It's the closest to many of my favorite home made dishes. I ALWAYS get the Pho and Fried Won Tons (I think that's what they call them. I call them pot stickers).

  • Trista T.

Not anything mind blowing, but just fine to quench your thirst for Asian food! I got the usual, pad Thai and it was delicious both at the restaurant and for left overs! The crab Rangoon and spring rolls were alright as well. We went around dinner time on a Tuesday. It was very quiet, bot busy at all, and service was fine.

A very nice place for Asian food. I do like their crazy noodles and curry noodles. They taste really good. Last time I ordered a curry noodles to go for lunch. They gave me veggie soup and a piece of springroll along with my order. I don't know if they come with my noodles since I didn't get those "sides" first time there. I would also recommend the iced Thai tea. Great portion and very tasty. Would definitely come back!

I've been going to Little Saigon since it first opened and I can't say I've ever been disappointed with anything I've ever had here. That said, I've shifted my favorite dish over the years - I used to swear exclusively by the Thai sweet and sour chicken, but now I'm in love with the Vietnamese rice vermicelli bowl (the #503) with beef and chopped egg rolls. The wait staff is really friendly and are willing to make alterations to dishes. It's also a great place for gatherings with friends - it's my go-to place for when I visit home again and want to meet up with old friends. And on top of all that, it's cheap!!

Love this place! The Thai Basil fried rice, Saigon Dumplings, and Vietnamese platter are my favorites. The atmosphere is pleasant and service is quick. The food is consistent and delicious whether you carry out or dine in.

I love this place. The only place that has grilled sweet and sour chicken. Plus the portions are perfect (just enough for leftovers). I recommend getting it to go because I feel like you get more. Amazing smoothies too!! Never had something I didn't like and now I can't go anywhere else.

I have had two entirely different experiences here. My first was take out. I ordered pad Thai. Not good. It advertised vegetables, but came with a couple shavings of vegetables. Also, they overcharged us by putting in 20$ as a tip instead of 2$. Okay, easy mistake. They recovered well by giving us a $25 gift certificate to come back. Our second visit was inthe restaurant. Good service. Great food. The in house menu has pictures and made it a lot easier to make a decision! Mine was some spicy asparagus and chicken I think. It was so good and loaded with veggies! We will definitely revisit this place!

On our way from Chicago to St. Louis, we stopped here for an early dinner. They had a valentine's weekend special (Sunday-Thursday). The special was 1 appetizer and 2 entrees for $17.99. The list to choose from for this special had about 20 choices. I had the general tso chicken and my boyfriend had crazy noodles with tofu. We shared an order of crab ragoons. I love crab ragoons and love trying different restaurants version of a classic. Little Saigon has the best by far that I have tried. They have a light flaky outside with a wonderful creamy center. They served it with a delicious sweet chili sauce. My general tso chicken was very tasty and I had plenty left to bring home. My boyfriends crazy noodles had a very good flavor and it was cooked to perfection. The tofu was delicious. He is used to spicy food and it was not spicy enough for him. We recommend this place completely.

Thai red curry chicken was really awesome!! Ate there a month ago. Very good spring rolls. Definitely will go back to try their pho.

This place is awesome! The Mongolian beef is to die for. Tender with no grissels and fresh every time. Decent priced and the location is also pretty good.

Food = okay. I had the steak with rice and fried egg, along with an egg roll and soup. Their soup was totally bland (yeah, I gave it to my friend who loves it). The egg roll was delicious, as was their crab rangoon (appetizer). Service = good. However, our server seemed very nervous... Prices = reasonable. Lunch specials were a steal! Under $8 per person. I'm spoiled by California's wide assortment of Vietnamese/Thai restaurants so while this place was great for Springfield, it made me miss home--Bay Area! lol

This place has been a good find for my girlfriend and I. The prices are reasonable, the food is good, and the service is generally fantastic. From the outside it looks like a dive but the inside is clean.

  • Sandeep M.

The food was ok, not bad at all. The veggie roll was the best. The quantity was large. One odd thing was they added $1 to add pinapple to the fried rice and $1 for the hot chilli paste.

  • Sampad D.

The food is ok ! But not extraordinary . I tried their tapioca mango juice which i guess did not have fresh tapioca. The curries were ok bit on the sweeter side. The curry fried rice was good. The service was also bit slow .

  • Irbad C.

Place serves "plastic/spongy chicken". Beware of the meat quality. Not sure who to blame, their food supplier (who is GFS btw) or the restaurant. Gave them an extra star for excellent service and prompt seating.

This Asian restaurant is not just limited to Thai or Vietnamese dishes, but has some flavors from just about the whole of southeast Asia. The waitstaff are attentive, accurate, and helpful. They handle special requests and complex orders with ease. The decor is odd, but not unpleasant. Take-out orders are handled promptly, given accurate estimates of time, packaged well, and with parking often available next to the front door, easy to pick up. There are a great number of familiar menu items from the more Americanized side with Crab Rangoon, to various kinds of Pho and seafood soups. Perhaps the defining feature for this little jewel is the blender. They offer a long list of blended freezes with fresh fruits, teas, and even black tapioca balls. The menu is extensive, and can be overwhelming if you don't read it online before visiting.

I thought Saigon was in Vietnam? When I went here tonight, I fully intended to get some pho. But when I asked my waiter how the pho was, he said it was okay. Not a raving endorsement of what should be their signature dish. Then I looked at the menu. This place should be called "All types of Asian food." Holy cow, the menu was extensive - Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and even a couple of Korean dishes. So I ordered the chicken wrap app and the chicken panang. Both dishes were actually very good. The wraps had a good amount of the fish sauce in it and gave it that distinctive flavor from Thai food. The chicken panang was also flavorful and tasty. Maybe next time I go, I will take my chances and try the pho. But next time I am in town, I will definitely be eating here again.

I met some friends from out of town for lunch at Little Saigon. I had been there before but not for some months. My friends are very into Thai food (why does a featured review say it is Korean?????) and have spent time in Thailand. I ordered a red curry with tofu. He ordered the Mussuman curry, and she got some Singapore Noodles, both dishes I have never had. As lunch progressed I said my curry was awesome, and they both said theirs were the best they had ever had. So Little Saigon worked out great for us. My main issue is that they do not offer whole grain rice, and I am on a diet where white rice is a big no no. Also, same as Mimosa, the tea was very forgettable which is very disappointing given that all of southeast asia is a tea place. I have had better jasmine tea at thai buffets in Iowa where the food is not even close to as good as it is at Little Saigon. I still give them 5 stars but the tea is just downright embarrassing. So if you are a tea snob you might want to BYOT (tea!)

  • Daniel Dillon C.

I was skeptical about this place at first, as I am about all Asian restaurants in Springfield, but the dishes we ordered hit the spot. Little Saigon is the kind of restaurant where you can get well-prepared, tasty staples (Pad Thai, drunken noodles, etc) in huge proportions at reasonable prices (2 dishes and an appetizer cost us 20$)--a perfect storm in my opinion, since gains in satisfaction at higher-end Asian places tend to be marginal. The overall ambiance isn't anything special, but the interior space is cozy, well-lit, and the server was friendly and waited on us with timely zeal. Our food came out remarkably fast, but not suspiciously so. In sum, Little Saigon is a charming winner for those looking to sate a desire for Thai and/or Vietnamese food.

I live in Springfield and eat here several times a month. The crab Rangoon is amazing and the basil chicken dish is a must try. Little Saigon also has excellent lunch and dinner specials. The restaurant staff are extremely helpful and friendly as well. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Delicious Singapore vermicelli with tofu. As usual, everything tasted fresh and was well-prepared. Also yummy was the Broccoli Tofu (907, I think). This place is consistently good. Clean. Attentive service. Love it!

Came to Springfield for a one day road trip from Chicago. This place was rated pretty high by some others so decided to come for lunch. I wouldn't say this is truly a Vietnamese restaurant ... more Asian fusion since they also has Chinese food and Thai food. The waiter was really nice and even placed us at a table in front for the TV and we could watch the tennis match. Atmosphere is just OK, I think it might need a makeover from HGTV. The soup that comes with lunch needs help, very bland with overcooked veggies. I think the food has been adjusted to the local palate, but if that is what they want so be it. We had a noodle dish and a pork with rice dish. The noodle dish was over seasoned but the pork with rice dish was ok. My advice is stick with one thing ... Vietnamese food.

  • William Y.

Very clean Vietnamese restaurant! Unlike lots of Vietnamese restaurants that had dirt plastic floors, this one actually has carpet and doesn't smell. The service was warm and good. The food was fairly authentic but not completely according to my understanding of Vietnamese food. We had the grill beef lunch special, in which the soup and the egg roll were only OK, but the beef and rice were delicious. The texture of the rice was VERY good. We also had Pho Saigon. It had less meat nor came with rare beef as I have expected, but its soup was well flavored. The broth had a strong flavor of pepper, which I prefer but might not be for everyone. The rice noodles were fresh and didn't break into piece when I picked them up with chopsticks. Overall, I am satisfied and impressed with this place in this town. I would totally come back and try their Thai dishes if I had the chance.

This place is definitely a jewel in Springfield. I came here for a test and decided to make a stop for dinner before driving home. Found good reviews for it on Yelp and I made a good decision. - location: right off a main road but the parking lot is very small and it was hard pulling into there and I had to go around twice and while I was doing that, the big group of 6-7 kitchen workers were just standing there smoking and staring at me... that was awkward... -decor: The place was decorated with a lot of colors.... There's two entrance for some reason, a bar area, tables, and then the deeper part are booth where I sat. the whole restaurant was not that big but it seemed bigger because of the way they sectioned things off. in the booth section, there is green walls and a huge tv with sports on. -service: my waitress was sooooo nice. I asked for suggestions and she was more than willing to help. VERY VERYYY rare good service at an asian restaurant so I was pleased. - FOOD: so I got... avocado freeze- AH MAZING and really big portions (i didn't even finish) and I asked beforehand to make sure what freezes are made with REAL FRUIT and which ones are made with POWDER (taro, green tea, etc) so make sure you ask if you want the real stuff! lemon grass chicken wings- a bit dry but it was very flavorful and it was pretty cheap (4?) and you get 6 pieces so it was a good appetizer beef salad- which is a lettus wrap with the beef in thai dressing and huge chunks of tomatoe. this taste very THAI. like the dressing they used and it's very refreshing! the beef is a bit dry and not juicy and it was kind of cold but the flavor is really good. another good appetizer to share! Seafood stirfy noodles- I forgot what this was called on the menu but it was with the skinnier chow mian noodles. There was 2 dishs on the menu with similar products but in different sections. one with the noodles as an entree dish (had beef or chicken? and another one in the meal section which was seafood noodles served with salad and soup. they were the same price but one was an entree dish so bigger portion and the other one had a salad that covered half the plate so i asked my waitress about it because I wanted the seafood one but with biggger portions so she offered to replace the salad with extra noodles and it came out PERFECT! i mean obviously there's not that much seafood (shrimp, scallop, squid?) but I'm glad she was able to work with me and she didn't charge me extra so i kind of feel like I got a good deal .

I have been a faithful regular at this wonderful little restaurant since 2006. The price is right, the food is consistently fantastic. Every once in a while I will run into an inexperienced server, but nine times out of ten the service is good. VERY vegetarian and vegan friendly. I highly recommend the Crazy Noodle with Tofu and the Summer Rolls. The Green, Panang, and Yellow Curry dishes are all fantastic. The crab rangoon is absolutely delicious-the wonton wrapper is wonderfully light and crisp. Everything I have eaten at Little Saigon tasted fresh and packed with Thai flavor.

I decided on lunch from Little Saigon after a quick Yelp research. I got the S5: Com Thit Bo Nuong Hot Ga Opla lunch special with fried rice instead of white (great decision). The steak was deliciously marinated/cooked and I loved the sunny-side egg on top-- nice touch. The portion was way more food than I could handle for lunch. The lunch special came with a soup and an egg roll. The soup was okay. The egg roll was a Chinese style eggroll-- I was expecting Vietnamese style.. :-( Oh well, everything else made up for it. I'm definitely considering grabbing another meal from here before I leave Springfield!

Oh, how I love this place. On a day when I felt pretty terrible I grabbed some pho to go and went home to mend a cold-ridden body. The pho did just the trick. Wonderful.

  • Ricky D.

This place was ok. I did a carry out with the com dac biet and chicken wings. The grilled pork chop did not taste anything like it should be. If I go back it will be thai food only as the food did not taste Vietnamese at all. This place didn't come off being Vietnamese so just do the thai food as it will probably taste more authentic.

One of my favorite places in Springfield. Everything I've ordered there was well made. The staff is super nice and attentive.

Great food cooked to order! My new favorite spot for hot fresh Thai and Vietnamese cuisine!! I've not had a single item that I did not enjoy, but the Mongolian beef might be my favorite. The kids like the smoothies and I don't mind them getting a few more servings if fruit so it's a win-win as far as I am concerned.

    (4)
  • Sinh M.

The food is alright, I really like their smoothie selection. However, I do believe people should not get anything with the chicken or at least in the stir fry. Every time I've been there and have gotten chicken it is really slimy and I don't know why. It really grosses me out. Everything else is fine though.

  • Angela P.

Tried this place again and still think the same thing. Its just OK. This time I had a Viet soup with wontons and shrimp. While it was a huge portion, the flavor just wasnt there. It was very bland and watery, no salt or spice at all. I literally felt like I was eating a large bowl of barely flavored water with flavorless shrimp and wontons. Tried the dumpling appetizer, which was good. Also had a bite of the ginger chicken which seemed like it had a bit more flavor. The spicy noodle dish I ordered had some flavor, but wasnt spicy. Overall this place will be OK is you have an Asian food craving, but it isnt a place to rave about or return to over and over.

After living in Chicago for 4 years where really good Thai food is readily available I was really craving some in Springfield. I've had take out and eaten here for lunch now. Their food is SO good. Their lunch deals are really great, an entree, soup and egg roll for under $8. The crab rangoon is delicious! I'll definitely keep coming back.

A very tastey place to eat. It is the only place that I know of in the area that sercves the rolls of cabbage stuffed with shrimp and other good stuff. It is not spring rolls because it is not fried and is wrapped with translucent cabbage. I remember them from more expensive restaurants in large cities and was very glad to find them. I enjoyed everything I have ever eaten there.

Fantastic Thai food, have no idea about the Vietnamese food, not really interested in it. They have an awesome special Sunday-Thursday $16.99 for 1 appetizer and 2 entrees!

I enjoy going here for lunch. Good price and they give you a ton of food. Service is just okay. You're not going to do any better with this type of dining in Springfield with the possible exception of Hunan up the road.

Ordered pad thai and vermicelli bowl. It was ok. Pad thai tasted like ketchup noodles, vermicelli bowl did not have enough flavor to it. I did enjoy the spring rolls tho.

This used to be a great restaurant. It was family owned and operated. We always had great service and the food was great. The owners sold it a while ago and now it's merely an Asian restaurant with bad service. The wait staff is not good at all. Basics such as taking the customers order in a timely manner is lacking here. Or even bringing the customer the check is lost here. And don't bring my appetizer out after you have served my main dish. Refills? Forget it. Now let's talk food. They overcook the veggies and they are soggy. A lot of the flavor is missing and it just tastes like bland Chinese food now. My favorite dish - basil chicken - has turned into a bland mass of overcooked veggies. It's all just flavorless now. They also seem to be transitioning into a Chinese place, the Thai and Vietnamese dishes are being replaced. There is also a terrible smell in their front hallway and bar area. Its like the sewer is backed up but mixed with the scent of natural gas mixed in.

This place is amazing! And you must get the bubble tea! So many flavors to try!! Everything is good here. You can't go wrong! Definitely going back soon.

I've tried this place about 4 times and I've tried something different each time. It's just not good.

I will start this off by saying I am a HUGE fan of Little Saigon. A co-worker and I had lunch here yesterday and to be honest, it may be awhile before I dine here again. The food was great, as always, but our waitress was TERRIBLE! She had the personality of the fork that I ate my pad thai with. She did not greet us warmly, offer a smile, or come back to our table after bringing out our food! She made us feel so uncomfortable the entire time we were there. It felt as if we were annoying her by being there almost. Whoever this girl is needs to find another job, working with people is definitely not her strong suit!

Definitely lives up to the yelp hype. Had drunken noodles and shared satay chicken and baby egg roll. One of those places that you can taste how much the cook/chef cares about what they are doing. Mad decent.

I had the S5 for lunch. Good but I wouldn't say great. Maybe this place was overhyped but I'd have to try other dishes?! Price was good for the portion. Only disappointment was with the baby egg roll appetizer...where was the meat?! Not worth $5! Was clean & a good spot for lunch. I would go back.

Inconsistent. Not a fan of the basil chicken, but the curries are good. They also have bubble teas if your desperate. The noodles are okay too.

This place is alright. I read through the other reviews and didn't really find it to be as good as many others. Don't get me wrong, you'll enjoy your meal here. I just think the prices could come down a bit 1) because it's Springfield 2) because the food is just average. The Pad See-ew (or however you spell it, I've seen it 3 different ways on menus) was bland. I should have had them kick it up a notch with some spice or something. The portion was large, but it was like eating a whole lot of meh. I thought they had really, really good bubble tea so that's definitely a plus. Other than that, I'd probably stick to Magic Kitchen or Taste of Thai.

Another saving grace in the mid-west madness. Where strip malls, fast food, and chain restaurants rule, it is good to see a down and dirty Vietnamese (multi-asian) throw down on Wabash Ave. The decor is both delightfully frightening and entertaining at the same time, but we all know that there are a few signature Asian idiosyncrasies which characterize a GREAT down and dirty Asian restaurant: 1) Terrible Decor 2) The bill comes before the food 3) They don't let you sit where YOU want to sit (even when the place is empty.) All jokes aside, this restaurant serves up a tasty meal in an area of town filled with so much other junk food. I had Vietnamese Pho Soup which I'd give a solid 6.9 out of 10 (since I've had pho in Vietnam and Oakland California.) I also had deep fried tofu and would say the same in score. My friends had chicken rice noodle soup, and beef over rice. Looked quite good to me. There were no complaints from them either. Go get it. Call before you go, since all mid-western restaurants are only open for an average of 3-4.5 hours a day. DZ

Their pho was so good. My friends got different dishes and by the looks of it, it looked amazing. The restaurant was clean and tidy. The service was great. Our waiter was so nice. He made a few mistakes like give the wrong food to the wrong person, but we were cool about it because I think it was his first day on the job. If it wasn't, well.... Other than that, it was great. The bill including tip came out to almost $40 for 4 people!

They have a fantastic lunch deal during the week. The vegetable soup is excellent. I live in Chicago, and I STILL think Little Saigon is about the best Thai food I've ever had.

This is one of my favorite places to get food in town. I think the Pad See-Ew there is the best from other local places I've tried recently. And the fruit freezes are the perfect pick-me-up for any day. There is also the lunch special during the week that starts at eleven and ends at two-thirty. You have a selection of lunch entrees, soup and a little eggroll for $5.99 (plus tax). They accept credit cards for purchases over six dollars. Less than that and you'll need cash.

A great place for lunch and dinner. I've been there multiple times for both and I love it. Their spicy glass noodles are absolutley delicious for dinner. The price is great for lunch but a bit spendy for dinner.

Admittedly, this is probably one of the better places to get Asian fare in Springfield, IL. However, the aromatic vegetables (i.e. onions, green peppers, etc.) are consistently under cooked. I typically enjoy these vegetables in my food, but must remember to ask for my food to be cooked without these items at Little Saigon. Unless you like eating copious amounts of [essentially] raw peppers and onions in your food, you may also find that it is a bit much. The Drunken Noodles are great! I also have enjoyed several other noodle and curry dishes. The service is decent, but can vary significantly between visits.

Full disclosure here: I grew up in the largest Vietnamese community outside of Hanoi so I am quite snobby when it comes to legit homeland cuisine. Little Saigon wouldn't last last very long in Southern California but it is definitely the best place around these parts. I also like the Southeast Asian fare at the Mekong Cafe near the Capitol. They are both great alternatives to the dreaded "horse shoe" --- a hamburger and french fry contraption slathered in a creamy cheese sauce. The folks there are always nice and the service is good, which never happens in most Asian places I've been. They have a lot of decent standard staples like fried rice, meat and vegetables, fried noodles, which I admit they do well. My friends from the local university and I really like the mini egg rolls. I know it ain't exactly authentic, but get over yourselves hipsters. My only complaint is that the food has been toned down for Western tastes, like the watered down nuoc mam (fish sauce). But I got to enjoy the PHATTTEST bowl of pho (beef noodle soup) ever so it's all good. P.S. The O in pho is not pronounced like the o in bowl. It's more like a sort of u sound like in cut and putt. So it's pho-nomenal. It's pho-shizzle. It's pho-nky cold medina.

I think this is probably the nicest Asian restaurant in Springfield. It is a sitdown place as opposed to take out and a fairly extensive menu for fairly moderate prices ($7-$12). I really enjoyed the pho and came away impressed, as did my two friends. Also, it is Springfield, so options are a little limited and one should be happy with a place like this.

A nice find in Springfield! The service was quick and the prices very affordable. The pho was HUGE!! Had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The brisket could have been a little more tender. Also got the spring rolls which came out piping hot and crunchy. Finished off the meal with a fruit cup (mango, kiwi, and strawberry). The fruit was surprisingly quite fresh and sweet. And in comparison to the tiny little ones with standard fruit you get at Starbucks/Panera bread, this is a steel!

Sure, they have Thai food good enough to give Magic Kitchen a serious run for its money, but why bother when they have such incredible Vietnamese food? Went in with the family over Christmas (feeling like I was cheating on the Magic Kitchen the whole time) and the bill for 6 people with multiple appetizers and drinks was about $80.00. We pretty much ate everything in sight, I'm astonished at how affordable it is. The menu is so large as to be intimidating (btw, I love menus with photos), so we tried some of everything. We had dumplings, eggrolls, crab rangoon, all fantastic. My fella had the Chicken Pho, my brother in law had the sampler platter, several others ordered Thai dishes and I had the pork dish with the fried egg on top - I can't remember what it was called, but trust me, everything is better with a fried egg on top. In any case, I could care less what it was called - it was incredible. Everything we had was mind-numbingly delicious, but the great Vietnamese was really a surprise and, for me, is the real draw. With food this great and such a friendly staff, I'll be back every time I find myself back in the Springpatch. The portions are so enormous that a single entree could feed 3 people, it is astonishing! Go with a group and plan to share. An extra star for being locally owned in a town overrun with TGI McFunster type chain restaurants and for bringing (fantastic) Vietnamese food to town.

I came here once when I first moved to town, had the pad Thai. It was unbearably awful. That said, multiple positive testimonials from people whose foodie cred I respect brought me back with a friend. I went with the Panang curry. With the caveat that I will never eat Pad Thai here in a bajiion years, I am a major fan. That curry was fantastic, the menu is extensive (although apparently full of landmines), the interior is bright and pleasantly garish and it's cheap! - Asian food at it's most authentic. I'll be back!

I had the beef with broccoli. I also had their lettuce wraps and they were excellent. The food was good and not overly spicy. I will be back to try more dishes in the future.

Authentic cuisine, and good service. This was a very surprising find in Springfield. I travel quite a bit, and this was a great find for me. I highly recommend this place. The food is very authentic, and it usually comes up pretty quickly. They also serve bubble tea which is a nice treat especially in the summer time. Parking is a little tough since the parking lot fills up fast during lunch. Good lunch specials around 6 dollars. Dinners will run you around 10 - 15 bucks. Parking is easy to find at night. Try the grilled chicken, if you want to be safe, you can't go wrong with this. They have a pretty large menu with many curry dishes, soups like pho and egg noodes, and lots a variety of fried rices, so I will definitely be back to try more. One of the best eats for Asian cuisine in Springfield, check it out.

I love this place and so does my 5 year old. The freezes are so good on a hot day! I haven't had anything bad here yet. You can get food extra spicy if that's the way you like it. They will cook to order. Love this place and love the prices!

Moving from Orlando where there are many fabulous Thai opportunities~it took awhile to find a "favorite". Well, we found it in Little Saigon. Great lunch specials~but can be very pricey for dinner. Service is hit or miss, but overall, we frequent this more than any other asian flare.

Visiting from Chicago and had my doubts about authenticity. Very pleasantly surprised. Decor is clean and bright. Service was quick and polite Green papaya salad was excellent as was the fried dumpling appetizer and basil chicken. Only mediocre dish we tried was pad thai to which they added ketchup. Their Sunday special was very economical: 2 entrees and 1 appetizer for $17. Wow!

Great food. Very fresh. Best thai food in Springfield. The dining room is pretty plain and could use an update, but the food more than makes up for the shabby building.

Little Saigon is very popular with the locals in Springfield and I was told that they have won numerous awards so I had to try it while in town. LS is basically across the street from Food Fantasies; Their menu is extensive with many different Vietnamese and Thai dishes available. Being vegetarian, I had to inquire as wether any dish could be made vegetarian but only received confusion from my server- vegetarian meant tofu, right? Not so considering the use of nam pla and kapi in Thai kitchens. So I can't say the food I received was actually vegetarian (crossing my fingers). There was a definite language barrier with the service, ordering by number turned into confusion which eventually gave way to pointing to items in the menu. Ordering a Tiger beer resulted in a Diet Coke being delivered to the table; an order of veggie spring rolls turned into veggie egg rolls which was immediately self corrected upon delivery to the table. As far as food goes, the dishes we sampled were allright, but as I stated, I cannot confirm that anything ordered vegetarian was actually so. The green curry, ordered Thai hot, was barely spicy and the fried rice was too oily for my tastes. My honest opinion of LS is 2.5 stars considering the service issues and uncertainty of the food being vegetarian.

The best place to get Asian food in Springfield, hands down! I have eaten here numerous times for lunch. They have lunch specials for $6 that include soup and an eggroll. You can add a pot of hot tea for only $1. I ate my first dinner their recently and it was awesome! I highly recommend the saigon coffee. It is freshly made with condensed milk. The smoothies here are also the best in town. They use fresh fruit for all of their smoothies. Overall, a solid choice for lunch or dinner!!

I love this place b/c of the menu. There are pictures for EVERY item! Even drinks :) I like the panang curry. I've always had good service and think the prices are reasonable. Don't be deceived by the outside of the building, it is much nicer inside!

Highly recommended. The best asian cuisine as well as Thai in Springfield. They have never once messed up an order and their always relatively quick. I recommend the baby egg rolls, Panang, Mongolian Beef, and Red Curry. Ginger Chicken could be better.

One of the newest restaurants in Springfield, and the only Vietnamese (I think). It's always amazing! They have actual fresh fruit smoothies. Cantalope and mango are amazing. I get them without the tapioca -- it tastes like bread dough, ugh. The prices are reasonable, pretty standard for Thai in Spfld. The decor is beautifully done -- lime and peach colored walls. Great vegetarian selection. I was scared to try it at first, but it became a weekly thing before I moved. I recommend going with several friends and picking at each other's plates, buffet style.

One of the best, if not the best Vietnamese/Thai restaurants in Springfield. The staff is very friendly and the food arrives very fast. It has a huge menu and I try and order something different each time. Not too expensive.

Little Saigon has an impressive menu. It is very deceptive as far as appearance from the outside. It is very spacious inside and clean. It can be a little expensive if you are ordering alcoholic drinks. The bo luc lac is my favorite. I also hear that the pad se ewe (sp?) is also mighty tasty.
