I had the super steak burrito and it was pretty good. I think 3.5 stars would have been more appropriate, but I'll give it 4 since it is open late! It is a good alternative to chipotle if you are looking for something a little more authentic (although I still wouldn't consider this authentic). Will be back again!

Very frustrated with my experience here tonight. I placed an online order with this restaurant. When I showed up to pick up my order I was told the order hadn't been started. This, despite the fact that I had received both an email and text stating my order was ready to be picked up. Then, after I got home and opened up the food I had received, the MAIN dish I had ordered was simply nowhere to be found. Even though they had a PRINTED record of the entire order that had come in via the Internet. Of course I called the restaurant to complain but honestly it was clear things were going nowhere. They could barely speak English and and there was no way I was getting into my vehicle and driving 15 minutes back to the store to have them re-do something. This is the first time I have ordered food at this restaurant. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever go back. There are a million Mexican restaurants in this city that can get an order right the first time. $33+ for 2 burritos and a quesadilla and 1 horchata? No way. Never again.

This place sucks. Overpriced slop. The mexicans should be embarrassed to even work here. The chips aren't authentic and the salsa is from jar. The reviewers that like this have never been to a real mexican restaurant. The huge burrito is a salad wrapped in a tortilla. The steak is c oarse ground beef. 5 pm I was only customer ate in and no one came while there.

We love this place. We drive up from Edwardsville at least once per year to see the sights of the Illinois State Capitol or State Fair and eat at La Bamba. Order a super burito... it will change your life.

I just recently moved up from southern Illinois. I always loved the super steak when LaBambas was located in Carbondale, but since they closed I would always make a point to stop in the Champaign location. So when I moved here I was talking about making a trip to Champaign for a super steak. And Bam... they informed me that we had one in Springfield. and it is also GREAT.. love the hot sauce too...!!!! its a once a week stop spot...

This place has some good burritos but their Super Nachos is pretty epic. The service is fast and they have a bunch of seating. I recommend this to anyone looking for some great Mexican grub.

Good burritoes at a good price. I like the shredded beef and chorizo. Try the horchata(sweet milky rice water beverage).

I lived in Champaign,IL for a few years and this was The spot after the campus bars closed. Good food, cheap prices and the horchada is the best! Its too bad this place isnt closer to the downtown bars.

I go out of my way every trip to Decatur for a burrito as big as my head. Super combo (beef/pork) with everything and double queso (cheese). If I was to be executed it would be my last meal request. Cut it in half and eat from the center for optimal burrito control.

Not my fav. I don't think the food is that good, just ok. Seems expensive for what you get.

If you know what's right and you order tacos from here order them Mexicanos which includes corn tortillas with cilantro and cebolla with meat of choice. And the agua De orchata is dank.

I absolutely love this place! The food is great, the price is fair and the employees are extremely friendly. My favorite choice is the chicken taco with onions, cilantro and onion. The only way to top that is with the hot sauce! This is my lunch of choice at least once a week.

This is a crave that must be feed every few months. Like Bob M states- order the Super Combob burrito then cut it in half & add the desired amount of hot sauce to enjoy.

Loved it! I am a native Californian who visited Illinois for the 1st time last week. Was not expecting good Mexican food this far east! Pleasantly surprised by the value and authenticity. They also serve American things like "cheesy nachos" but I would definitely come again for the tacos :-) Did not get to see a "burrito the size of your head" but maybe I will try one next time. Bonus: Open Late !

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
