Hy-Vee Market Grille Menu

The ambiance of Hy-Vee Market Grille is outstanding. It feels nothing like being in a section of a grocery store, but rather feels like being in a very chic, stand alone restaurant. Although open for only a week, we have dined in four times and sat at the bar for appetizers once. For a new restaurant, the wait staff is attentive and does not seem overwhelmed. They are quite personable, as is the manager. As for the food, everything has been excellent. From the hickory smoked ribs, burnt ends, and pulled pork to the bone-in pork chop with roasted garlic and onion demi to the southwestern grilled chicken salad, everything has been top notch. The must have appetizer is the jalapeño, maple, bacon wontons, which are a perfect mix of spicy and sweet. Wide selection of beers on tap and in bottles along with a great wine and drink list.

Had breakfast here last Sunday, $18 per person, included buffet and cook to order eggs and pancakes. We waited over 35 minutes for 2 eggs over medium, the buffet was constantly out of items which was odd since the restaurant was not busy. Food and service were not good. Maybe they were having an off day but for the price I wouldn't return to find out.

The food was good. Not $16 for a philly cheesesteak, a 1/2 cup of mac & cheese, and a soda good but still tasty. The service was the worst part. There were about 6 tables with customers and that many servers walking around. But it still took about 15 minutes to get the check and pay. Like another post said, the prices are higher than the quality of the food and service

Thai Chicken peanut sandwich was my order for my lunch visit. I found it to be pretty tasty and had a unique tangy taste to the peanut sauce. Pretty reasonably priced, overall a decent lunch experience. Phil our server was good as well.

I simply was not impressed. The service and food does not justify the prices. Our server took 10 minutes to come to our table for our drink order. The restaurant was not close to busy at all so I was not very happy. The dynmite shrimp was heavily breaded and the sauce tasted like something out of a freezer meal. When it came time to order our dinners, the server told me the pretzel chicken would be a bad choice for me since it was "so big". I did not ask for his opinion about size, just flavor. When the food arrived, my chicken was cut thin and was very dry. The sauce served with it tasted like a very common honey mustard. The sides were the only redeeming factors for me to not have a completely terrible experience. I ordered the cheesy corn casserole and mac n cheese as my sides. The pasta alfredo was decent too. Simply put, the staff is very unprofessional and the food is sub par.

I think it says something about this place that at eight o'clock on a Sunday morning Charlie Parker's has a line out the door and this place is half empty--even though hyvee had been standing room only since it opened! Cold coffee, slow service, unremarkable grocery store food dressed up to look like a restaurant. When Denny's shows you up you've got some work to do...

Only reasonable salad bar in Springfield with decent selection if you can get over grocery shoppers staring at you while you graze a salad bar.

Stopped for breakfast and was a terrible experience . Food extremely grease , toast and eggs soak in butter or whatever they use . Husband found a hair on the toast complain to the waitress and her respond was "do you want another toast" Never , ever coming back to this place

The food is good. The service is terribly slow. Took forever to pay. I had to complain to the front before my payment was processed. Fine place to eat before grocery shopping. I wouldn't suggest it if it was out of your way.

It was ok. Smaller Sunday menu. Asked for bacon instead of ham for my skillet. Waitress said no problem. But when it came it had ham so must have been a problem in kitchen. Husband couldn't eat his biscuits n gravy as way too spicy. The Hy-vee in Bloomington IL has much better breakfast. Also waitress never asked how everything was. And manager never took time to check with customers.

Thai Peanut Chicken Sandwich was very good. The Blackened Shrimp Tacos were excellent! Our salads were fresh & the service was great. The Sangria was good as well.

Breakfast was very good . Eggs were perfect along with French toast. Menu is simple and basic breakfast choices. No fancy sauces and crazy concoctions of blended ingredients . Clean contemporary atmosphere.

Stopped in for lunch during Grand Opening week. Restaurant is very nice, lots of tv's, well designed and appealing decor. I sat at the bar and I ordered the Monte Cristo. It was not a traditional, deep-fried version. Instead it is a huge sandwich served on French Toast and with a side of Apple jam? The jam was actually applesauce and it was not a good pairing with the sandwich. The sandwich was tasty and even had bacon on it - bonus! Sandwich had lettuce on it which is a no-no for a Monte Cristo. Fries were hand-cut and very good! Service was average as sandwich took 20 minutes to arrive even though it was 2pm. Manager waited on me since bartender seemed distracted and too busy even though there were only 5-6 others at the bar. I had water and my total bill was like $9.87. However, bartender ran my debit card for $22.98?? They corrected the mistake but that $22.98 is still pending on my account 2 days later. Food - 3.5 stars Service - 2.5 stars Ambience - 4.5 stars I'll definitely go back and try this place again and hopefully service will be a bit better. I have to chalk that up to the fact that the employees are new and it was grand opening week. I'd give it 3.5 stars but yelp doesn't allow half-stars so I'll go under with 3 stars....

Chalk up today as a learning experience. A friend told me the food at Market Grille was good, and I needed to buy groceries, so why not give it a try? I looked online, checked out the menu, and thought it looked good. Too bad either I did not realize or it was not made clear that what I saw was the dinner menu. Lunch is mostly burgers, and as a vegetarian that was not what I wanted. So my waiter tells me I can go to the buffet outside the restaurant. I see it is $14, but all Hyvees have a senior discount, so I figured I would get at least a few bucks off. Wrong, no discount, first time ever to find that to be the case. So I go to the buffet. On the very positive side this is the first time I have ever seen an Asian vegetable dish at a Hyvee buffet, just mixed veggies, but a nice touch. So I had asian noodles and veggies, and it was pretty good. I also had pasta shells in white cheddar sauce with more veggies, and that was good too. So the buffet was above average, at least today, for Hyvee. When I got the check it was over $17, with tip $20. That was the real downside. I have never paid more than $10 for an all you can eat Hyvee buffet, and eating it sitting in the Market Grille was no different, just way more expensive. Frankly I think Hyvee is still figuring things out. Next time I go to lunch it might be at Hyvee, but not at the Market Grille. Another positive note for the new Hyvee, the bakery has real bread of the almost artisan sort, several sourdough choices, all looked quite good. Now we'll see how it tastes and toasts, but this is a big upgrade over anyplace else here in Springfield, will probably be my go to place for good bread.
