All of these bad reviews are shocking to me. This has been a family favorite for years. They know my husband by name when he goes in to pick up, and we get pizza from there maybe once every few months as we do not eat out much. Pizza and pasta is the most authentic in town. Their sauce is our favorite! Family owned and very friendly: they'll treat you like family, as if they've known you for years!!

For delivery- delivery man was knocked loudly on my door then as I was going to the door he started banging. We are talking in a hotel room (doesn't take that long to get to the door) and when I answered he said sorry I didn't think anyone was there. So strange. I could understand if he had been knocking for awhile. Second my bill was just under 20. So I asked if he had change (didn't think that was an outrageous ask) and he was like uh no. So I gave him 21 and apologized that was what I had. His response "well I'm sorry too". I said "well maybe carry change next time" and he stared at me like an alien. Third. To top this off, my pizza was cold, breadsticks were thrown in the paper bag and cold. Such a terrible experience and I would not recommend it. When I called to complain the guy said he could get me another pizza. Unfortunately I didn't want to wait another hour for another potentially bad pizza. Boo.

This pizza is some of the BEST in Springfield and it's locally owned as well! Definitely try the Stromboli... The one with the white sauce is great! We get takeout sometimes for work and it's always a hit.

I wasn't impressed. I didn't like the crust or the sauce. The pizza was watery. The meatball sub was OK but a little over seasoned. I won't come back just because nothing stood out and we spent over $30.

Went to Springfield for the weekend from Chicago. If I was able to try the pizza, I could have commented on that but since we waited 1.5 hours, yes you read that correctly an hour and a half and nothing! The guy behind the counter should have set some sort of expectation. There were about 4 tables with people sitting so I'm not sure what the problem was but this was pretty bad. Place was divey, dirty. Will NEVER go back.

Pizza was dry and flavorless. I would give zero stars if I could.

Pizza is average but they have these fresh rolls called "garlic knots" and they are so good!! Fresh dough rolled up, twisted into a knot, baked in the pizza oven, brushed with butter, olive oil and fresh chopped garlic. Very strong garlic flavor but oh so good!! Restaurant isn't real clean and bathrooms are horrible and not ADA compliant. Bottom line, gets you by in a pinch. But hey, they do deliver!!

This place is as authentic as italian food in america can get. This is not the place tony soprano would go to eat for fancy dinner but i'm sure he and paulie would pick up a slice here once in a while. We both had pasta, i had the spaghetti and meatballs which was okay and my wife had the chicken parmesan which was really really good! Portions were huge and we finished it late at night in our hotel. This was just a fun place and reasonable priced, sometimes that can be good enough!

Plan on being here a while if you want pizza. It wasn't busy, just a few tables filled. But it took longer than most pizza places. I guess they can only make one at a time. There were three of us and they only brought two plates. The waiter said he'd get another plate but never did. I had to go back to the counter, cut in front of a line of people (it got busy after our order), and ask for a plate. I never got an apology. The pizza was ok (better than pizza at home, but that's it). The service was slow and lacking. There are plenty of better places in town.

My favorite pizza place in Springfield. The cool guys who work here are real Italians and know what they're doing. Plus, you can play Ms. Pac-Man while you wait.

I was very disappointed, The tables were all dirty and the pizza tasted stale. I was on vacation from Florida and stopped in here because it was close to my hotel. The man making the pizza handled multiple customers money and never washed his hands. I watched him go into the back and then make a sandwich!!! Unacceptable !!!!! It was not the owner but a male in his forties approx.

This place is what it is. Not pretentious but, gritty and to the point. It is simple food made to order. Sometimes the pizza can be overcooked, they don't use timers. Very good sandwiches and pasta dishes. Very nice people, hard working, a bit rough around the edges, but like I said this place is what it is.

Really. I ordered from here b/c of the reviews of all the others. This was NOTHING special. The pizza was floppy and tasted like every other kind of pizza I have ever had. Not sure what people in Springfield think is good pizza but this is not it.

Chicago, Rome, New York, Sicily, St Louis with their crazy provel, I've had it all when it comes to pizza. Deep, thin, stuffed, pan, hand tossed. Red sauce white sauce no sauce! Wasn't impressed at all. Delivery does sort of ruin the experience because things tend to get soggy and shifted, but this was nothing I'd order again.

My daughter was in a nearby hospitial when we found Gallina pizza. I have ate there two days straight. The pie is pretty good but there pasta is Great! The prices are Super!!! Just today had lazagna that fed me and my son with a fresh loaf of hot from the oven bread for $6.95. For those reviews that said there prices are high, there crazy!!!! The owners arent too talkative but its nice to hear the cooks at a Italian eatery, speaking Italian in the kitchen. Try it out, good food, cold beer, and wont drain the bank!

My opinion is in agreement with others about the food here. It's pretty good for what foodies might call checkerboard Italian. The pitchers of beer are cheep and the pizza large, and soup was home made. They have late hours too! If your not into garlic you should avoid Gallina. During our visit last night, the bus boy offended several in our party with some racial slurs.

Both times I ate here I wanted to vomit, the pizza is gross. I question the taste buds of anyone that likes this my high school buddy loved it and she ate orange jello with milk on it! Nuff Said!

Pretty average pizza and pasta. It was one of the few places even open within walking distance from our hotel. We ordered a thin crust pizza, which wasn't amazingly thin or anything. It was somehow doughy in the middle. The sauce and cheese were average. Olives average. I think they tried to saute the green onions first and they were somehow watery. It would have been better to throw them on fresh. The sausage was that dry, cheap kind that is impossibly crumbly and tasteless. Earlier we ordered pasta. The stuffed shells were what you would expect. Not amazing but pretty damn good. The only complaint would be the sauce was thin. I ate it with the garlic knots and they also served bread, which was very good. So, it's not something I would ever get a hankering for, but if you're stuck in Springfield this is a safe bet as long as you stay away from the pizza.

I have been to this place a number of times before I have finally decided not to go again. The service is horrible(every time I have gone!) The pizza is overrated and definitely overpriced. The iced tea is even gross. If you want it by the slice, go to Luca's or for a whole pie, go to Bernie & Bettie's or Gabatoni's.

An actual pizza place run by actual Italians. The food here is pretty authentic, even though the decor is pure stereotypical Italian restaurant, right down to the tablecloths. The meatball parmigiana sandwich was excellent and their white pizza is right up there as well. A delicious and pleasant surprise in the capitol. They even have aglio et olio, though it's written out spaghetti with olive oil. I think this place has the right balance of trying to produce authentic Italian but still have a small-town pizzeria feel (pizza by the slice and lunch specials.) Try the white pizza and the sandwiches it's worth it.

I'm from New Jersey/ New York area. Having left my childhood home, and now occasionally residing in Springfield, Gallina's brings a tear to my eye. It's the closest thing to going home again. They make New York style pizza and they do it right. They have anchovies. The people in the kitchen are actually Italian. Thank god for this place.

I would have to say this is probably one of the best pizza places in Springfield. Family owned and operated. Its by far the best pizza around. Its also really great that they are open late in the weekends.
