Would go back anytime! Had a very tasty breakfast burrito washed down with a large cup of espresso called the salty dog. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast/brunch/lunch!

We dropped by here after visiting the Lincoln Library. Really neat atmosphere! The staff are really friendly! I got the soup and grilled cheese. The soup was on the saltier side, but still hearty. The grilled cheese was something else, smashed thin, gooey cheese with bacon! Drol about it! The cookies were fun! It was past closing time and they still had a bunch of cookies and cakes, we asked and they offered us a deal on a stack of 5 cookies! What fun!

This was your typical lunch spot. It wasn't super-clean, and that was the only thing that bugged me. There were awesome choices, and more than enough for my gluten-free friend. The lunch special with a sandwich, chips, and cookie was a great idea. I'll be back!

This is the very best of Springfield. For breakfast, the oatmeal is to die for. Seriously...I don't know what they put in it, but is must be some kind of dark magic. The breakfast burrito is another splendid morning choice for a yummer experience. For lunch, I have tried several items and always go back to the chicken pot pie. Again, must be dark magic as eating causes me to ignore everyone and everything around me while my taste buds dance with delight. Salads...excellent, sandwiches...superb, soups...souper! Cookies and cupcakes and pastries, oh my! The service is truly some of the best service I have ever received. Splendiferous. If you get downtown, you must visit. Your taste buds will not only thank you, they will worship you. Just do it.

Delicious. Great chicken wrap and spinach/artichoke soup. Line was long at lunch and for a good reason. The food is good

When we came in for lunch it was very busy but we still got great, friendly service! I ordered the chicken pot pie, iced tea, and peanut butter cookie. It was $9. Husband ordered the Leprechaun. He got pasta salad, chocolate chip cookie and drink too. I got the chicken pot pie immediately as it was ready and nice and hot. This was nice, but I was halfway done with mine before my husband's sandwich came out so it would've been even nicer if it was closer together. His sandwich was absolutely delicious. Was pleased with everything, will return!

Great little historic downtown cafe close to the Lincoln Museum. Creative, fresh sandwiches, wraps, cookies, and salads. Generous portions for the price. Would return again, given the opportunity.

Delicious lunch! Stopped in just after Noon. Ordered individual pot pie, which came out before I paid. $9 - including drink (iced tea) & a cookie (oatmeal cranberry). By the time I say down the line was about 20 deep but it moved really quickly. Very efficient service, super friendly staff. I would definitely go back.

The Chic'Chick sandwich is awesome!!! Great flavor! You can't go wrong with this place.

This is a great little breakfast spot. We haven't tried them for lunch, so I can't comment on that, but the breakfast was great. We had the egg soufflé (or quiche, not really sure what they call it) with mushroom and cheese, delicious. My group also got the oatmeal (they will prepare it any way you want), the yoghurt parfait, and the chocolate chip scone. All were fresh and tasty. The staff here are as friendly and helpful as everyone says (this is one of the reasons that I love coming to springfield, everyone is super nice). My mom dropped her knife and before we could even go get another someone had brought her a new one.

The BBQ chicken mac n cheese is amazing. Nice people. Helpful and fast which is great. But the food makes this a home run.

Hands down my favorite lunch spot in Springfield. Between the friendly service, the fast delivery of food and the AMAZING sandwiches, you can't go wrong!

Chicken pot pie; my 3 favorite things! Anyways, the pie, cookie and a drink for 9 bucks! Not bad at all. The crust on the pie was perfectly flaky and complimented the inside, which was a bit on the salty side. Friendly staff is always a plus as well. Definitely would come back if I ever decide to visit our wonderful capital again!

Amazing! Food is fantastic. I ordered the gobble gobble sandwich and it was delicious.

  • Amy G.

We took our family for lunch today. I ordered a Say Cheese Lunch Combo and my husband ordered a Chicken Pot Pie. They didn't have a kids menu but were very helpful and willing to make several choices for the kids that they would love. The food was very delicious but what impressed us even more was how friendly and helpful the staff was. I've never been to a restaurant where the staff went over the top this much to make sure our experience was amazing. We will definitely be back!

In places like this it's so rare to feel like every interaction is really genuine and not just employees doing their jobs, but the people here are truly awesome and will do everything to make sure you're happy. Great atmosphere and delicious food, and only $7.50 for a sandwich, chips, drink and a cookie.

I love this little café. Everything I try always looks and tastes amazing. Today I ordered lunch via delivery to my office. When my delivery arrived, my sandwich was missing. The driver had to leave and return with my sandwich ten minutes later. I decided to eat my soup while I waited, but there was no silverware or napkins in the bag. I wasn't upset, but my email confirmation had a spot available for customers to make comments about their experience. I decided to write what was missing from my delivery just to inform them that it happened and as a friendly reminder to help them in the future. This afternoon I checked my email to find that Café Moxo responded to my criticism. Café Moxo apologized for the mistakes, comp'd my lunch, and thanked me for informing them that all was not perfect. Honestly, they make one small mistake, but showed professionalism and gratitude by buying my lunch and apologizing. Café Moxo - you are wonderful and no one is perfect. You are close though. Thank you for letting a customer know they are important!

Noisy, crowded, and their sandwiches remind me of something I could just make at home. Their tea and coffee isn't that great either.

Really enjoyed breakfast. Fast, fresh and flavorful. Everything we ordered was very good.

I come to Cafe Moxo often as I work downtown and it's incredibly convenient. It is also incredibly delicious!!!! I love the Medley and frequently choose the Half Bag Lunch and ask them to put it on croissant for me (which they do bc they are so nice!!!). It never disappoints! Any of their soups are delicious, their cookies are to die for, the breakfast is super yummy - literally a great place with great people working there. I deduct a star for 1 reason: the $5 delivery fee. not a fan of that, especially with a $10 min. But it never stops me from visiting! :)

My wife and I come here any time we want to go out for breakfast. Everything is great, but I'm especially partial to the breakfast burrito. Great coffee - with a bottomless cup.

A couple of weeks ago I ventured out to good ole' Springfield because a friend of mine just opened up her first bakery there. After we visited, we were starving, and used the Yelp app to see what was around for lunch. After reading the glowing reviews of Moxo, we decided to give it a try! Parking was so easy... I didn't see a parking lot, but there were so many meters open that it didn't matter. There were also plenty of places to sit even during the busy lunch hour, so we were pleasantly surprised. While we were there I was still trying to get over a cold, so I noticed the sign that said "homemade chicken noodle soup" right away. You order at a counter, and I could see a big pot of it and was immediately sold. I went with the soup and sandwich combo, pairing the chicken noodle with the Medley sandwich (turkey, bacon, provolone, ranch dressing, and chipotle mayo grilled on Multigrain.) I can't even begin to explain how great this food was! The homemade noodles were so hearty, and the sandwich was so flavorful and expertly made. To top it all off, the staff was above-and-beyond. So friendly and helpful, and our plates were cleared the minute we were done. I can't recommend this spot enough if you're in the Springfield area! Thanks for making my sore throat feel ten times better, Moxo.

Due to my wife's love for this place, I'll give it 3 stars. However, my experience has been a bit different. The sandwiches come in many varieties and the soups seem to be great (per my wife...I don't like soup). The beverage options (non-alcoholic) are vast. The staff, especially one guy, act as though they truly know you...which can be nice but gets irritating at high levels. He actually creeps my wife out. My main problem...the dining area and ordering station. This place gets BUSY! The ordering is cafeteria style...single file and a line around the counter to the door quite often. This means you stand there a long time to order, then sit to wait for food (the wait isn't long but the wait to order has taken as long as 30 minutes!). They truly need two lines! Hint...hint...free business plan. If you don't get a seat in the side dining area or outside, you sit amongst the droves of people waiting to order. No privacy or comfort in that! We go about once every two weeks. Certainly recommend it if you have the time.

I don't think I'll ever be back to Cafe Moxo since I only went when I was in town for a wedding, but I'm glad my friend and I stumbled on it! I ordered a sandwich combo and it was so much food for $10! It came with my sandwich, an amazing chocolate chip cookie, chips, and a drink. Service was friendly and fast and I was able to run back to the hotel with more than enough time to eat, change, and get ready for the wedding. Our cashier was also extremely nice and helpful and even gave us a free scone and cinnamon roll since we were new to Springfield and exploring the area.

I picked Cafe Moxo based on the yelp reviews and was not disappointed! We were coming in from out of town and wanted a place where a group of old college friends (8 of us) could have some good food and a comfortable place to catch up. Everyone in the group was really pleased with what they ordered, and it was all very good value for the cost. The space was comfortable and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. They were also accommodating with substitutions on the menu items, which was much appreciated. I would highly recommend this place and if I ever find myself in Springfield again I will be headed back to Cafe Moxo!

  • Diana M.

Had the quiche and the salty dog, and they were amazing. The place itself was nice - one area was well-lit and is great for holding business meetings and the other side was dimmer and quieter, which I thought was perfect. Definitely one of the better cafes in downtown Springfield. Would definitely go back.

  • T R.

Had catered shower there today. Maid of Honor was told by employee working there last Fall when she booked event that space was no cost and dessert/food could be brought in. Of course since then the room cost 'per hour' and food had to be catered by Cafe Moxo. (Okay, honestly, that does make sense....and that employee is no longer working at the restaurant). Sandwiches were on Very Dry buns. One tiny slice of meat per sandwich. Even the chicken salad was a little dry.... And bland. Fruit and veggie trays were good. Tea and coffee good. Place and atmosphere are lovely and restroom very clean! I would never use it for a gathering. But probably fine if you are ordering off menu.

  • Katey A.

Cafe Moxo catered an meeting that I was attending and we all could not stop gushing about how delicious our sandwhiches, salads, and desserts were! For approximately $8 a person, we enjoyed a variety of mini sandwhiches, vegetable tray with fresh ranch dip, pasta salad, fruit salad, and a variety of cookies and cupcakes. They even delivered! I will definitely be making Cafe Moxo a regular stop whenever I am in Springfield.

The atmosphere is awesome their deserts are awesome they taste just like grandma baked them fresh that morning their food has that homemade flavor and appeal to it

This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. Pot pie was great and the Cha Cha wrap was excellent! The only complaint was if you've never been here before, like us, the ordering system is kind of confusing. We don't get over to Springfield often, but would for sure eat here again! Side note: Please dust your ceiling!!!

Great breakfast sandwiches. Excellent service. Always friendly. Chicken pot pies are delicious. One of the nicer places to come stay for a while drinking coffee and catching up with friends.

WHY ISNT THERE ONE OF THESE IN CHICAGO?? The food, the atmosphere, the customer service is superb! Mark, the owner, is very welcoming along with his staff. He is happy to shake your hand and say hello. This is the only place we went to in the Springfield area this time around for food and it will be our first stop when we come visit again. Besides Mark, two other employees asked us if there was anything they could do during our visit and even suggested a few drinks to take to-go. It's a casual dining experience at a modern cafe but the service made us feel like they cared about our experience. The chicken pot pie--to die for. The wraps, amazing. The dessert--incredible.

  • Jessica Y.

I seriously just had the best experience here today at lunch. Every single employee was so nice and smiling and courteous that I thought I had a hidden camera on me. The food is always amazing but I'll be going back again and again just because of the customer service. Five stars!

  • Olive B.

I don't get here often enough! Stopped in for a late lunch on 4/11/14 and it was wonderful. Hubs had the chicken pot pie and I had a half sandwich meal. The Cha Cha -- great wrap filled with park carnita's, ham, swiss cheese and a pickle. Great flavors!! The food is very good but the wait staff is the reason I will recommend and return. In a world of lousy customer service, uppity servers & staff who are too busy looking at their phones to wait on guests, Cafe Moxo is doing great things in the Capitol City.

  • D P.

I like to stop here to enjoy the coffee and the wide variety of baked goods there is even seats by the window with is nice free WiFi is a plus it's really a welcoming place i recommend the breakfast.

  • Beth H.

I came here at 1pm during the week. There wasn't a huge line, and the wait was almost none existent. I like the variety of the menu and the quality of the ingredients, but I didn't feel that the sandwich was a good value for the price. It was over $20 for both me and my companion, and we both left feeling a little hungry. Although everything else was exceptional, it would be nice if they increased their portion size a bit.

Stopped in here a year ago during a family trip to Springfield and I still think about their amazing peanut butter cookies. We happened to run into the owner outside and he seemed like the nicest guy too. If we're ever in the area again, we'll be back for more.

When you travel to Springfield from Chicago, its hard to find wise and good food choices. Café Moxo is the best local joint. Inventive food items, wonderful soups, sandwiches and flatbread. The pot pie is something to be worshipped. Friendly staff and a wonderful local place. Get their early and you can't leave without grabbing a dessert.

  • Erica R.

Holy hell! The chicken pot pie was awesome!!! I saw pictures on yelp and it looked exactly as pictured. It was filing and totally worth every penny. For under 10 bucks I got the pot pie, a cookie, and a drink. I totally recommend this place

  • Lindsay L.

I am giving this a 2 because I love the food here, honestly I would give the food 4 or 5 stars. My experience yesterday would warrant a 1 star. I am not sure who the girl was taking the orders behind the counter, but she was hands down one of the rudest people I have met in a long time, down right not nice if I am to be completely honest. I don't know if she forgot she was in Springfield, IL and not NY City? She may as well ordered for me because she clearly had no interest in listening to what I or any of the other folks with me wanted. Walking into Café Moxo isn't exactly laid back to begin with it is super busy at lunch time and unless you eat there every day you truly have to read the menu to know the ingredients in everything (might I suggest printed menus by the end of the line like McAllister's in Peoria). This gives it definite appeal, but also slows the process of ordering and may be the cause of her impatience. In this case though we were the only ones in line so there was ZERO reason to be so over the top pushy and rude. I ordered a BLT, no tomato and when she specifically asked me if I wanted peanut butter (which I found odd because I thought the menu said you could add it on which would indicate to me that it didn't come standard unless you asked) I said no thank you. I then saw they had pot pies which my bf had mentioned were very good. I turned to him to ask if he was getting that at the same time I indicated to her I was thinking about switching my order and she just kept bellowing at me, "Is this for here or to go, is this for here, is this for here!?" I must have had a serious "look" on my face because my bf thought I was going to lose it. I kept my calm and decided she may come over the counter at me if I changed my mind so I stayed in my place, me customer- you superior sandwich maker, I knew my role... Well my bf and employee shared the same experience after me, she was rude, yelled at them and flat out had no interest in listening to anything they said. I thought it was just me, but when we got to the table they were both saying, "What the heck just happened; what was wrong with her?" My employee wanted 2 sodas and no cookie, she just couldn't wrap her brain around that. I don't honestly give 2 hoots if I had to pay for an extra soda, if he wanted 19 it shouldn't matter to her... Then the food comes. My employee ordered last and his came first. Then my bf got his, and mine went to the table next to us. I chased my food up to the counter to see everyone fingering my sandwich to figure out what it was and why it didn't belong to the table next to me... When I kept saying, "I think it is mine, I think it is mine..." I finally retrieved the sandwich, sat down, took a bite and... peanut butter... Now, I like peanut butter, but in the world where EVERYONE has a freaking nut allergy one would think this would not be a mistake anyone in the restaurant industry would make also I wasn't sure about peanut butter on a BLT. They would have been a lot busier had an ambulance been summoned to their establishment to take me out when my windpipe swelled shut... I worked many years in the restaurant industry while living in Chicago. I find it insane how much people in Springfield complain about Chicagoans and yet this kind of rude behavior and inflated entitlement would never fly in Chicago... Great food + terrible service= mediocre establishment at best which is too bad because the owner of Moxo seems to be very nice and I love the dogs... My mother always said, "Kill em with kindness." I teach my employees that you actually have to CARE about your customers, customer service isn't a dying art, sincerely caring for anyone outside yourself is. I think this lesson should be one they establish in this restaurant, it should be the norm... My bf and employee were so annoyed they both said they considered calling when we left. I said, "Its ok I will yelp about it." Thank goodness for yelp, I think it does help keep businesses on their toes.

As I travel around , I like to try local coffee shops for a change of pace and was swayed by the high reviews. I did expected more, :((. Gee, was here today, very disappointed with food choices and expresso out of a push button dispenser?, Really?? Atmosphere was pleasant, no gluten free options :((.

We hosted my daughter's baby shower at Cafe Moxo. The space was perfect, the food was delicious, the staff were attentive and we had a great time! Mike and Mark made she we had everything we needed before the shower started and left us in great hands. Definitely recommend others consider hosting an event at Cafe Moxo.

These guys are mostly doin it right. The atmosphere is hip but relaxed. The food is unique and excellent. Great place to bring someone from out of town for lunch. If the guys working the register and counter aren't the owners they sure act like it. They care and they are workin it like their livelihood depends on it. Only complaint I have is their breakfast is locked in to only what they have prepared which is mostly a bunch of quiche-like breakfast casserole dishes as the main courses. If you want to get an egg white scramble or anything remotely healthy like that forget it - they can't/won't make anything that isn't already made. Instead, for breakfast, we go to a diner-type place called D and J's Cafe since we do like to order healthier main dishes. We always get exactly what we want there, no hassle, no odd looks, no checking with a manager to see if they can make something.

A family of 4 and we had pot pie which it was delish!!! Cheese home made pizza, grilled chicken sandwich and a grill cheese sandwich, cappuccino's and they have every drink you can think of. The guy on the counter was really nice and friendly. We eat out a lot and this place was worth the review. Excellent place to eat.

Stopped here while walking downtown on way to museum. Great atmosphere, very helpful servers. Our food was terrific and the portions were huge! Only reason not a 5 star is that the noise level is too high. I'd definitely eat here again.

Nice downtown location. I had the Chicken pot pie and it was delicious and very well made. I also had a cookie that was a maybe a bit too sugary but that was only one out of a wide variety. I don't remember the name of the cookie I had but there was about 8 different cookies to choose from. This is an order at the counter then find yourself a seat type place you. Once you order you get a number and someone brings your food to your table. Would be nice to have a better self serve option for fountain drinks and/or tea. Waiting for a refill took a very long time. The place was clean and definitely will return again someday.

When it came to planning our lobby day trip to Springfield this year and what we should serve our 170 participants for lunch, Café Moxo's boxed lunches were the overwhelming favorite choice! From our staff and others who frequented Springfield, Café Moxo was known to be a sure bet for delivering on taste, value, and excellent customer service! While there were many details, stresses, and challenges that came with planning for our event, it was a relief to know that Manager Mike Zengilani was there from the beginning to ensure that our lunch would be a success. He took the time to answer all my questions, explain the menu options and the delivery location, and forgive my last minute order changes. He really made a custom order for us that was personalized to fit our needs and our budget. We were so impressed that Mike and his staff were on time with our delivery, incredibly friendly, and helpful in explaining to our group what each of the box lunches contained. With their help, we were able to serve everyone quickly so that they could board the buses and hit the road back to Chicago on schedule. Both vegetarians and non-vegetarians were satisfied with the array of sandwiches that they were offered, including the Knick Knack (ham, turkey, bacon), the Hummus Among Us (chicken breast, roasted red pepper hummus, tomato chunks), the Gusto (fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil pesto and drizzled balsamic glaze on Focaccia). The sandwich names were catchy and super flavorful and tasty! In addition to a sandwich, there were also chips, a pasta salad and a cookie included in the box lunch. Everyone was satisfied with how delicious and fresh the food was! I highly recommend Café Moxo as your go-to catering spot in Springfield! They are pros when it comes to accommodating large groups and delivering on BIG flavor!

When you're in Springfield there aren't many choices for healthy options for lunch. Cafe Moxo is one of my favorite places for lunch because I have options with this restaurant. The soups are made daily and always taste great. I love the hummus sandwhich.

After lobbying ALL DAY for quality physical education in schools (meeting with several of my and your legislators), I worked up quite an appetite. All the members from our organization, the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance received $5 Subway gift cards as we left. Being an Elite Yelper and sandwich aficionado, I couldn't just have something I could get anywhere! YELP HAS TAUGHT ME THIS! I wanted a sandwich (or two), but with all the one way streets in Springfield, it was a GREAT idea to ask directions! I was getting mine to go (since I had a 3+ hour drive ahead of me), so I stood in line and waiting about five minutes. I wanted to build my own sandwich, but this place IS FUNKY! I loved the vibe; loud, divey, and fun! I ordered the Tim Buck 2 with no mayo (and then the order taker sarcastically goes "extra mayo"). Then, he asked for my name and I said "Pat, with two T's". He wrote it down. Why can't we all just be fun and friendly like that all the time! It was awesome! I also was enticed by a Golden Delicious Apple that was Golden and Delicious!! The desserts were awesome, of course I had to get one of those too! I went with the Rice Krispy Treat (didn't want just a cookie, again, thank you Yelp!). This thing was the size of my head! It was excellent! The sandwich I got was amazing! The roast beef was perfectly sliced and the grilled-ness (not really a word) made my trek on I 55 North seem not so bad. The dessert was the best part. I tend to save the best for last! If I am in the area, I will sit down with my local state legislator and talk physical education, health, and delicious food in this quirky yet awesome place! The only reason I took a star off was being of the prices!! On a student teaching salary (ZERO DOLLARS) $7 for a sandwich is steep. I guess that is the price I pay (pun intended) for being Elite in 2010, 2011, and 2012!

This is an awesome place that fills a dire void for attractive and inventive lunch places in Springfield. The people who work there are incredibly wonderful. We showed up 10 minutes before closing time, and they let us stay over an hour past their closing time and continued to fill our coffee (and they even made more for us!!!). I was super impressed and even though I only come to Springfield several times a year, I will make sure to hit this place up every time I come back.

If Cafe Moxo ever went out of business I would cry. Endlessly. I've made it a personal mission to try everything on the menu. Kind of hard when I love Hummus Amongus so much. So good. Chicken pot pie is great. Pasta salad is delicious. Their oatmeal cookie is the best. Honestly, everything is great. Service is always superb. Be prepared for a line if you go at lunch. OR. You could just order ONLINE for delivery. Amazing that you can actually get breakfast delivered. A little pricey, but absolutely worth it. Online delivery for a local eatery is almost unheard of, but I love it because it's so convenient. Only thing that I despise is they serve canned soda. I usually get iced tea instead because of it. Aside from that, there's literally nothing I could complain about. Absolute must if you've never been.

You have to serve yourself but otherwise, it's great. Chili, and cookies are great but the sandwiches are amazing. Cha cha is a cubano in a wrap done with carnitas. Money.

Great Food - Wonderful Staff. I just recently held a baby shower here. The staff was wonderful in helping to get the event organized. Everyone loved the food! I sent the invitation and they matched the design on the cake!! Everyone at the shower was just amazed at how nice the staff were, too. Delish tomato bisque and grilled cheese. The chicken pot pie is not on the menu - but you must try it!

A lot of hype and not much delivery. Very small portions (from someone who thinks portion sized are always too big) especially for the price tag. Coffee was forgettable. An alternative to Dunkin Donuts if you can afford it, but I wouldn't make it my breakfast spot. Got the "ex-con" vibe from the staff with all the non-artsy tattoos and rather difficult to understand questions. Do I want what on that? If so, that's cool, I can respect giving people on a second chance the ability to score a decent job.

Some of the best eats downtown. Very polished ambiance, and the restaurant mananges huge lunch surges as if thats what the staff and owners were born to do. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. The owner, who is frequently behind the counter, has really put together a great Springfield restaurant.

I really enjoyed this little place when stopping in through Springfield. The oatmeal is delicious, and the employees are very friendly. The menu is fairly limited, but everything everyone in my group ate was good. If I'm ever back in springfield, I'll definitely be back!

Nothing overly impressive here. Nothing bad though. Good warm breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. The set up is interesting and the people working are pretty laid back. Would like to check it out for lunch sometime.

Wonderful addition to downtown springfield! Great chicken pot pie, salads, sandwiches, great breakfast stop. Don't forget a yummy cookie or cupcake! Friendly and helpful staff! One of my fav spots!.

Great place to get a quick bite for breakfast. Walking distance from many downtown hotels. Good prices, coffee and food. Seems to be a local watering hole as well!

I think this place is great for a sandwich shop. The staff is absolutely the nicest and most helpful I have encountered in a long time. The menu is large and offers a good variety for everyone. The atmosphere is open, with multiple rooms to lounge around, read the newspaper. There is no pressure to eat and leave. With something as simple as sandwiches the little extras count. I ordered a sandwich from the menu with roast beef, bacon, etc on sourdough. It was really good, but what made it even better were the small details. The bread came very lightly toasted, enough to not get soggy and keep it from falling apart. Also, the mayo wasnt just mayo - it was black pepper mayo! Beef and bacon seemed to be high quality as well. Great experience, Ill be back!

Went with a friend here for lunch a few weeks ago. Their selection is definitely different and interesting, but very very good! The place sort of has a "Central Perk"/"Friends" feel to it with both tables and couches/chairs. It was really nice. Would definitely go back!

I was skeptical the first time I went there but this place quickly won me over. The food is fantastic! The BBQ Mac sandwich is must-have! Plenty of room to sit and ample parking. If you're downtown check this place out.

Very good place located right where the farmers market meets twice a week so is also entertaining. They have excellent soups and lunch specials. The people are friendly and it is located only half a block west of the old state capital so visitors find it easily and I find them fun to mix with.

Real Food! Right here in downtown Springfield. I found about about Cafe Moxo when I was shopping at the Sat. Farmer's Market, asked where the nearest restroom was, and was told to go to Moxo. So I decided to give lunch a try today after the Farmer's Market. I gave them 5 stars, but that is on a comparative basis, and doesn't mean that there is no room for improvement. I had a grilled mushroom sandwich on rye, I believe it was called the 411, and it was very good. I also had a bowl of the tomato veggie sound and it was even better. Full of fresh veggies that probably came from the market, and very tasty. The baguette hunk that came along with the soup was also excellent. Moxo is a long drive from my office on the far west side but is well worth it, time permitting. These people are making thoughtful fresh food from real ingredients and that is a rarity in a place that has long lines at times and serves lots of people. I will be back as often as possible while I work in Springfield.

Moxie puts the Spring in Springfield. After a busy morning meeting nearby, I hosted some clients to lunch, as long as they picked the place. Cafe Moxo was the locale for some to-go love, and boy did it deliver (even though we carried out). A combo lunch includes a few tasty extra morsels, such as a cookie. Since Moxo is also a fabulous bakery, the extra calories are worth it. I went for the "Hummus Among Us" sandwich, which was tasty and shook the blues of the airport food I was forced to ingest over the past few days. I like the atmosphere as well - lots of locals, police men getting their lunches and morning coffee. The joint kind of makes a Starbucks look like a Jack in the Box by comparison.

Great food, friendly service, nice hidden place. I wasn't expecting a sandwich and a pasta salad to taste so good but they did! I was only visiting Springfield for the weekend but I know exactly where I'm going when I go back!

My husband and I dine here occasionally when we are uptown on a Sat for the Farmers Market..Awesome food , clean, and the staff is friendly..Chicken pot pie is great but get there early as they will run out of it. Homemade soups, baked goods make the stop definitely worthwhile..Highly recommend it.

This spot is very average. The strawberry salad is decent and so are the yogurt parfaits. That soup in the cup/pot, chicken pot whatever would have been ok if it were piping hot. Cold soup is just wrong. Oh, I almost forgot - the smoothies are decent. Service is ok, the manager is loud and chatty - a bit annoying in a pig kind of way but the rest of the staff is pretty laid back.

The only thing going for this spot is the location. I met a girlfriend here for lunch (her suggestion) so out of politeness, I kept my opinions to myself but the salad I ordered at this spot was inedible. I ordered the asian chicken salad. Everything was wrong with it. The grilled chicken was tasteless, they piled on too many raw red onions (and I am a red onion fan), the dressing was too salty, and the mandarin oranges (which along with the dressing, was I guess what made the salad "asian" ) were straight from the can and just piled on top of a bed of terrible tasting lettuce. How you get bad tasting lettuce is beyond me. I ordered a root beer. They just hand you a can, no cup of ice. It is cafeteria style (order your food, get food at cash register) so no comments on service. It is a decent looking place--modern, clean, which makes its poor menu (at least what I tried) kind of surprising.

Springfield is such a small town it's weird to see a sandwich place like this here. Not that it's a bad place; a place that's open in downtown Springfield is cause enough for celebration, even with the odd layout-there's a travel agency that shares space with them and the back door is along the wall of Moxo, in a surreal, out-of-context way. The inside kind of reminds me of Bourgeois Pig but with more comfortable seating. The sandwiches are great-I had the turkey club and the soup of the day, Italian Chicken was delicious. I usually don't indulge too much but a friend of mine that lives here said to try a smoothie, and on a lark, bought a cookie. The club was a good blend of turkey and bacon-took the last of the bacon that day. The bread was soft and yummy. I got the soup with bread, and wished I had more to go with it, just one piece and it was pretty small, but the soup itself was hot and fresh. The cookie, seemed like it had been freshly baked even though they were in a jar, rethinking my view on sweets with meals-not really a big sweets guy. The smoothie was okay, a lot of places can be hit or miss, especially when it's not made with fresh fruit. It was good going down but a few minutes afterward it felt like I had swallowed a giant sugar pill. The breakfast options looked good, I think if I go back I'll try those out, minus the smoothie.

Not sure if Adam C. and Sonia D. were actually at Moxo. The food is very different and and delicious. A great place for breakfast and Lunch. I highly recommend the French toast for breakfast, and the pot pie is amazing for lunch.

Tasty, well-priced breakfast and coffee. I had the oatmeal with cranberries, raisins, and pecans, and my husband had a breakfast sandwich that he raved about. Looking at the menu, I wish I had been able to try it for lunch - the sandwiches sound great. Hopefully there is more going on when the legislature in session because this place (like the rest of the downtown) was dead. We dined in on a Monday morning and only saw two other customers in the 20 minutes we were there.

We stopped here on our way from St. Louis to Wisconsin. It was a cool Saturday and we arrived in the middle of their breakfast rush. The service was excellent. The egg sandwiches were awesome and the ambiance was fun and very welcoming. Clearly, this is a favorite Saturday breakfast spot with locals. Worth the stop and every penny.

Great lunch spot in downtown Springfield, and open on Saturday! I got a salad that was very tasty, but the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie was to die for! Great atmosphere and very friendly employees .

If you are in the area come here and eat for some good food, a pleasant feel, and a decent menu offering tasty sandwiches. I bought the "Hummus Among us" wrap and it packed a punch. My kids had chocolate cookies and shared with me and I thought they were really good. They sell cupcakes and other desserts. No one left hungry. The staff was friendly and helped us in making decent selections, as this was our first time. The coffee is decent, too. It is a tad pricey but you get decent portions and high quality meats.

The sandwiches are good here and I like that it seems fresh. I love the decor here, it feels modern and with the times, but at the same time it lacks character because of this. Our team goes here about every other week simply because we usually forget about it and its a bit out of the way. I love the cupcake ideas here, but unfortunately there aren't any vegan options and being prediabetic it's just not my thing. I highly recommend for out of towners, the staff is real friendly, I'm sure they got some kinda equity, but sometime that's a great thing. Plus, I'm not a big fan of paying for food and, then, sitting down and them bringing you the food. It seems confused. First, you're rushed to make a decision because you don't want to hold up the line and I don't know about you, but my eyesight hinders that process from going quickly. Then, you pay and there's a tip line, but you haven't received your service, yet, so how do you know how much too tip? Then, you sit and wait with your little number and the more you wait the more you wonder why you tipped so much.

Moxo is one of the best places for lunch in downtown Springfield. Not only is it quick but they have so many different options for lunch. They also have some very creative custom cupcakes which are fun and delicious. I have had a few things that I wasn't to found of but on the whole the food is good and the prices for lunch are fair.

If I lived here in Springfield I'd probably rave about Cafe Moxo, like the locals do. But, I'm not from here, and I'm spoiled and know better. So, I have to say, it's AVERAGE. Tasty sandwich, but AVERAGE PORTION. Cutesy "Lunch bag special" or something like that which included the AVERAGE portion sandwich, AVERAGE tasting SLAW, an AVERAGE sized cookie, and a drink. $8.50 = eh,.. an AVERAGE deal. What kind of sandwich did I have? I forgot already, and I left there less than an hour ago. It had meat and stuff, on sourdough bread. I'd come back - after I try every other place I can.

We came here for lunch before touring the Lincoln Museum. The lunch special that consisted of half a sandwich, bag of chips, soda (or iced tea) and a cookie was a great deal for $6. (One could get a whole sandwich for $2 more, but I'm not that hungry a person!) The staff was super friendly and the service quick. Our sandwiches were unique and delicious (mine was a grilled roast beef, some sort of cheese, red onion and chipotle mayo), going beyond the normal coffee shop basics. The cookies were really fresh and they had four varieties to choose from. The atmosphere wasn't all that great (exposed brick, but otherwise very modern), but it was cute enough and had comfortable chairs and tables. I'd definitely go back if we were in Springfield again.

Today we went in search of lunch and if you've been to downtown Springfield you know how difficult that is on a weekend. First we tried The Feed Store, which now has new hours and is no longer open on weekends. Then we started walking towards Bread Stretchers just to find a sign in the window that said it was for lease. Luckily we stumbled upon Cafe Moxo. I didn't have my hopes up high since we've found some pretty terrible places to eat while just stumbling around this town, but it actually was really good. I had a half a club sandwich, a bowl of cheddar potato soup, and a strawberry banana smoothie. All of them tasted very good and the waitstaff was very friendly. The fiance had a roastbeef sandwich and a berry smoothie which she also found to be very tasty. We were so impressed in fact that we decided to pick up a couple of cookies for later in the day. Had them a few hours later and they were very good. I had a chocolate chip cookie and I swear it tasted just like my grandmother used to make. The fiance had a peanutbutter cookie and she said it was really good as well. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Springfield ... that is if they don't close or change their hours.

My lunch experience... very mediocre. As a new Springfieldian, I was really looking forward to this local Panera-style bistro after reading a review in a local magazine. Lunch was very busy, and with their big menu, I felt pressured to order quickly with a lingering professional lunch crowd behind me. I ordered the Chatty Cathy, and my friend ordered the Oh, So Cheesie with a cup of chili. My sandwich was pretty good despite the dry, supposedly focaccia bread (that it is typically soft and fluffy). I also got the pumpkin spice cupcake that crumbled quickly. It tasted like it came from a box, and the cream cheese frosting was thick, but not rich or satisfying. The chili was watery and also noted unworthy by my friend. I've heard plenty of good reviews, so I will give this place another shot in the future. I recommend that if you're unfamiliar and taking the Moxo risk, check out their menu online first so you don't back up the place during the state lunch rush.

Good Salads. VERY nice staff. I had a couple of um same "love" types Started suff with me. However I don't blame one or two bad on apples on an extremely cool establishment.

Good place for sandwiches, salads, and soups. I've always liked my meal! Have a really cool selection of desserts - including a cupcake bar. Great for yourself or a cute gift idea. They have tables & lounging couches in the back. I believe they even do catering & desserts for events.

I recommend their breakfast! They serve a variety of casseroles that are excellent and well-priced. There are several seating areas, and it's well-located if you're walking around downtown (just a block from the Old State Capitol plaza).

Consistently good food, always fast. They have never messed up a lunch order for my office. Just eat half the sandwich if you want to stay awake for the rest of the day.

I have been to Cafe Moxo for both breakfast and lunch. I like the cafeteria style for ordering and the people that work there are extremely friendly with a great sense of humor. If you are there for breakfast you can not pass up the oatmeal or the baked egg thing, truly delicious and unlike anything I have ever had elsewhere.
